Yahya Bkheet is the father of 3 children: Mira, Dima, and Anas. Mira is an intelligent young girl who loves to play, read, and write. Her sister Dima also shares the passion for studying studying and enjoys swimming. Anas is a joyful young boy who loves to play and share laughter with others. They all have bright futures ahead of them, but the genocide has robbed them of their education, childhood, and safety.

Yahya has struggled to provide, food, medicine, and supplies for his children, wife, and parents. His mother and father need treatment that Yahya cannot afford due to costs and limited medical care available.

Yahya's family were recently displaced again after attacks close to where they were sheltering at Al-Mawasi and they had to flee without any of their possessions. They are now tentless and sleeping on the sidewalks of Khan Younis.

To make matters worse, th‏e Hala agency informed that he needs to have the full campaign amount ready by August 23 to have his family registered for evacuation together. I am posting this on August 14th. That leaves 9 days to raise the remaining €25,800.

I've gotten to where I don't usually post about donating because I don't wish to give the impression I'm prioritizing one campaign over another since I don't have the funds to donate everywhere, but I'm really hoping a donation chain might help. Gnomes and Halflings

Because there's so little on them one may as well simply put them together and save time and space.

Gnomes and Hin both maintain given names and surnames coming from their clan, the latter of which may be translated into common, as is the trend amongst all demihumans.

Due to large and sprawling family trees, gnomes define themselves by their closest kin and will add their family hometown onto the end as well: 'Wysdor Sandminer; of the Sandminers of Arabel,' for example, lest one be confused with the distant cousins that are the Sandminers of Suzail or something.

Halflings on the other hand set themselves apart as individuals and collect nicknames. Furthermore, halflings quite freely change their first names and leave out or entirely drop their clan name and tack on or replace them with a list of nicknames. Diminutives and pet names, adventures, skills, achievements, habits, physical attributes and just plain making shit up may all eventually bury their birth name in a 'maze of pseudonyms and false backgrounds.'

On Hamas' casualties:

Prior to October 7, IDF commanders reported that 30,000 Hamas fighters were in Gaza

The IDF has killed a total of 13,000 Hamas soldiers since the start of the war, but have not explained how those numbers were found.

In January, Saleh al-Arouri was killed in an explosion in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. On March 26, the IDF killed deputy commander Marwan Issa.

The IDF leaks the names of people claimed to be senior Hamas leaders they killed. However the list ontained some duplicated names and even the names of civilians.

On that list was the freelance journalist Mustafa Thuraya, killed when an Israeli missile hit his car. Thuruya was travelling with two other journalists - Hamza al-Dadouh and Hazem Rajab. Rajab survived with severe injuries.

"'The IDF hasn't been able to get to the top brass of the Hamas leadership,' says Mairav Zonszein, a senior analyst on Israeli-Palestinian affairs at the International Crisis Group. 'Both on a symbolic level of getting to the main leaders, and also on the level of replacing Hamas as the holder of the territory, that's something that it hasn't been able to achieve,' Ms Zonszein says."

On the hostages:

Hamas took 253 people hostage on October 7. 109 were released for exchange deals and 3 were rescued by Israel. The age range of the remaining hostages ranged from 18-85.

The youngest hostages, Ariel (4 years) and Kfir (9 months) were reported dead.

Israel estimated at least 34 of the remaining 129 hostages were dead. They recovered 12 of the bodies, among them were the 3 hostages that the IDF killed in one of their operations.

Hamas claimed that the death toll was much higher due to Israeli airstrikes. This claim has not be verified.

On the tunnels:

Hamas claimed their tunnel network is 500 km (311 miles) long. This claim has not been verified.

When asked about the amount and proportion of tunnels destroyed, Israel replied that they "destroyed a great deal of the terrorist infrastructure in Gaza".

In November, the IDF released video footage of a tunnel network beneath the al-Shifa hospital, claimed to be a command center.

Of all the IDF's SMS messages from October 7 to March 26, 198 mentioned discovering a tunnel network and 141 reported destroying it.

36 of the messages mentioned striking a total of 400 tunnel shafts (places where the tunnel meets open ground). Destroying a shaft does little to the tunnel network itself.

The scale and extent of the missions could not be reported because the IDF did not detail the locations or specifics of the networks.

Daphne Richemond-Barak said, "given the scale and depth of Hamas's tunnel network, it is impossible to fully eliminate all of its underground military structure."

Over 1.7 million Gazans have been displaced, and more than 33,000 have been killed. 56% of Gaza's infrastructure has been reduced to rubble.

Israel warned Gazans to evacuate further and further south, where they continued to bomb them in the "safe zones."

What it’s about: The estranged adult daughter of a famous photographer falls in love with a magazine journalist assigned to write a story about the late woman.

How I saw it: “The Photograph” is, in a word, gorgeous. The romantic drama (with touches of comedy) is never far from a beautifully filmed and lighted scene. Its color palette is so pleasing that even the deep blues, which are prominent throughout, seem warm. A scene in which the two main characters walk along an empty New York street after a storm glistens. The music is gorgeous, a mix of Robert Glasper’s cool, comfortable jazz score and newer and old-school R&B (when making a romantic film, you can’t go wrong with the Rev. Al Green). And the lead actors, the versatile LaKeith Stanfield and Issa Rae, are gorgeous, even as they navigate a blossoming relationship after having struggled to find long-term love.

“The Photograph,” written and directed by Stella Meghie, is not a film of great substance, but a romance need not be. It’s engaging (especially the performances not only from the leads but supporting cast) but not terribly thrilling, but it isn’t asked to be; it’s more a film of comfortability than excitability. The chemistry between Stanfield (as magazine journalist Michael Block) and Rae (as art museum curator Mae Morton) smolders but never explodes because both characters are understandably apprehensive.

What “The Photograph” does better than most of these types of films is explore love outside the realm of romance. Meghie, who has made three previous features that garnered positive reviews but went largely unnoticed by the moviegoing public, infuses the story of Michael and Mae with insightful takes on generational love, brotherly love and unspoken love. That’s where the film’s strength lies.

Michael and Mae cross paths when he is assigned to do a story on late photographer Christina Eames (Chante Adams). Michael visits a man (Rob Morgan as Isaac Jefferson) in the New Orleans area who had a relationship with Eames in the 1980s. Eames left him without warning to pursue a better life in New York, and the two had spoken just once since. Michael then tracks down Eames’ daughter, Mae, in Queens, and he immediately pursues her despite being on the rebound; he has had a string of short-term relationships and one-off dates.

Mae is more hesitant, and the story of Eames also is the story of why Mae is reluctant about romance. “The Photograph” smoothly bounces between the present and 1980s Louisiana, painting a picture of a complicated woman who (on the surface) seemed incapable of holding together any type of relationship, including with her own daughter. Meghie includes a bit of a twist in the Mae/Eames backstory, and the present-day love story gets its complication from Michael considering a job that would take him out of the country. He also has a tendency to fall back on old habits, including not answering his phone when a significant other calls, and eventually we learn that Mae is doing what many do when seeking a relationship – she is dating a man who is much like her mother, subconsciously seeking out someone who might give her a chance to make peace with the broken one with her mother.

“The Photograph” veers toward the predictable as it travels toward its romantic ending, but it’s a beautiful ride. Note-perfect performances abound, with Morgan especially strong as Jefferson (as is Y’lan Noel as the younger Jefferson in the flashbacks); Lil Rel Howery providing the right touch of comic relief as Michael’s married-with-children brother; and Kelvin Harrison Jr. adding moments of sweetness as Michael’s young co-worker and admirer. The strongest performance of all, though, belongs to Adams; her Christina Eames is a young woman trying to find her way in the world while also dealing with her seemingly cold mother. A scene in which she is being interviewed for a job shortly after arriving in New York is priceless as Eames shows she is more than just someone who stepped off a bus in the big city.

“The Photograph” has fared well at the box office, taking advantage of a Valentine’s Day release to the tune of $13 million plus, and it almost certainly will surpass its $16 million budget. It’s not earth-shattering stuff that addresses any great social issue (the discrimination blacks have faced is mentioned in passing only a couple of times). But it has much to say about love and relationships, and its message is delivered beautifully.    

My score: 80 out of 100

Should you see it? The film’s beauty deserves to be seen (and heard) in a theater setting, but “The Photograph” also would make for an enjoyable stay-at-home date night.

Yahya's family includes his parents, his wife, and their 3 young children: Mira, Dima, and Anas. Mira is an intelligent young girl who loves to play, read, and write. Her sister Dima also shares her passion for studying and enjoys swimming. Their brother Anas is a joyful young boy who loves to play and share laughter with others. They all have bright futures ahead of them, but the genocide has robbed them of their education, childhood, and safety.

Yahya has struggled to provide, food, medicine, and supplies for his children, wife, and parents. His mother and father need treatment that Yahya cannot afford due to costs and limited medical care available.

Yahya's family have all been displaced since the home Yahya worked so hard to build was destroyed on Oct. 9th. They were recently displaced again fom Al-Mawasi when the area near where they were sheltering came under attack. They fled without any of their possessions and are now living tentless and sleeping on the sidewalks of Khan Younis, exposed to unbearable heat, insects, and diseases.

Yahya and his family know that the best hope for their survival is evacuation. They do not want to evacuate unless they are able to leave together. Registering everyone for evacuation will require €30,000.
