First, we would just like to congratulate and thank everyone who participated this year in the RNM Big Bang!

Deciding to continue this event, after the previous organizers made the choice to step back, was one of the best decisions we made this past year. To see this fandom still so alive and collaborative - from the way authors sought to share snippets of their WIP to the constant writing sprints to keep everyone motivated thru the hurdles to the amazing group of betas who made miracles happen - camaraderie was the cornerstone of this year's event.

Alex smiled warmly at her and took his place at the podium. “Thank you vice-chancellor,” he said into the mic, “for everything. This place has taught me so much about friendship, loyalty, and love. But most importantly, it's taught me that the best things in life, the very best things… happen unexpectedly.” He paused for a dramatic beat. “Hit it!” he yelled. He lifted the mic from its stand and flipped the cap off of his head just as Liz’s sister Rosa flooded the hall with music.

The moment Alex’s feet touched the dock he felt something in him let go. The vice around his heart, pulling him from one adventure to the next, was finally released. He connected with the trees and the water and the birds as if they were his family. His family, in a way that his blood family never had been.

“You’re sure you’re okay here?” Forrest asked, already climbing back onto his boat.

“Yeah,” Alex breathed. “Yeah, I’ll be fine.”

I had the privilege to make art for this wonderful story for the @rnmbigbang this year! I was using a brand new art program and I'm super enthused about how these came out. Thank you, Kit, for trusting me with your work!!!

Happy Big Bang!!!!!!!!! This was my very first Big Bang and it could not have been better! It gave me the push I needed to develop this silly little idea I had into a 20k story.

Starting in Paris and following his heart to Greece, Alex meets the most interesting people, has the most amazing adventures, and somehow ends up with a baby and an old farmhouse. Fic Summary:

The curse of Ravenswood comes to Roswell.

Ravenswood (2013), starring Tyler Blackburn, introduced a story of a curse put upon a town that made a pact with a demon to protect the soldiers of the town at the cost of 5 innocent teens. This curse comes to the town of Roswell and the history of death, ghosts and ancestors who tried and failed to break it burdens the aliens and human citizens of Roswell, NM.

Set in the gap between season 2 and 3, Michael and Alex must battle supernatural elements they’ve never faced before and terrifying secrets from the past, all while they navigate their ever-present cosmic connection. They discover even more significance about their bond and the love between Nora and Tripp.

🎆What are you most excited to work on or share in 2023? I cannot wait to post my RNM big bang, which is coming out on December 31st. My artist shared the stuff with me and between that and what I think is a fun romantic adventure romp, I am extremely excited for that one to come out! It's kind of next year? If that isn't cheating, I also have an assassins!AU for The Old Guard that I am feeling very proud of and the Pushing Daisies TRC au is also something I am excited for. And to cheat and add one more, there's a Terror fic that I have been nervous and excited about, because it's my first (and prob only) fic in that fandom, but I feel like I've hit just the right tone in it.

🤩What's your favorite fic you posted this year?

I'm going to cheat and share two, just because I am proud for two different reasons. The first is my Raven Cycle baby!AU life is just begging to include you because I didn't actually think I'd ever finish it and not in a way that felt like I held the theme throughout, but I'm really proud of the final product.

And then, my other fave is Without Love, Where Would We Be? which is the Michael/Alex moving-in fic. It was the first one I wrote back in that fandom in a while and I felt like I was able to get right back to the voices, but also get it live before canon did the same thing.

🥳What writing accomplishment made you most proud?

I finished my TOG big bang, and then my RNM big bang, and my RNM secret santa all on time. The RNM Big Bang in particular did not feel possible. I had the idea, and then I had a VERY SHORT timeline considering I had barely started, but I managed to just press the pedal to the max and get 16k written in a matter of weeks and I am VERY proud of that.

The mod team is now asking for feedback regarding how the event was run this year. Did you think the communication was good? Did you think the mod team could have done more to communicate the schedule and deadlines? We want to hear it all!

Additionally, we are asking for your opinion about opening up the RNM Big Bang discord server during the off-months to encourage and allow writers and artists considering taking part to share and/or cheerlead on current or future work.

Feedback is completely anonymous, and open to everyone - not just those who participated in the event this year.
