more minific moments bc blaseball is coming for the jugular this week so have some baby ruthless pov (cws for incineration/death, grief)
You can feel it before you actually hear about it; in the subtle rumble of the bricks beneath your feet, the way the rafters start to shake. It reminds you just a little too much of the day that Josh died, and that’s why you start to run.
On your way out of the dugout, you barrel into Hank head on, who stumbles back a few feet with the weight of you. Steadying your shoulders, you know he can see the panic in your eyes, the fear in your chest, and it stings even worse.
“Rue,” he says, voice low but steady, “what’s going on? Everything okay?”
You shake your head, unable to get the proper words out. “Something’s wrong, I can feel it.”
You don’t say the truth you know to be real at this point: by wrong, you mean dead.
He glances towards the field, uneasy. “I’m sure no one will notice I slip away for a minute,” he wavers, though you can both see the two outs on the board even from here.
The shaking’s gotten more noticeable in both you and the building, and you haven’t felt an urge to run this strong in many decades.
“No,” you say, slipping past him, “I’ll be right back.”
“Rue!” He yells, but you’ve already broken into a sprint and you don’t turn back because you need to get out of here before they announce it, you can’t– you need to see it for yourself first.
Here’s the thing. You know this building better than anyone on the premises; fifty-odd years will do that to a person. These are the stones and bricks you grew up with, in every sense but literal, and so your feet take you exactly where you need to go.
You barely make it to the door of the garage before you’re stumbling, tripping over your own two feet as a cry confirms your worst thoughts.
On the wall you see it: Rivers Rosa in shades of glass, sitting perpendicular to Tyreek Olive. You take one heaving breath, and then your  legs are giving out.
And it’s that position Hank finds you in after the game, eyes still glued to the window.

I don't get why people say that the Rosa Parks episode is necessarily bad. I feel there's a lot of nuance to it that people tend to overlook.
Tumblr media
Right off the bat, we get this parallel: how the Doctor and the fam are from out of town like Emmett Till was. It's a warning to tread carefully. Yes, we would all like to go around punching racist bigots, but this is not the time or place.
Tumblr media
And then we have this white supremacist recently released from Stormcage (missed opportunity to name-drop River to be honest—though season 11 was a soft reboot for new viewers, so I understand why they would hesitate to mention Doctor's wife being held in the same prison as this man, imagine the outrageous misunderstandings it would cause?). He probably got arrested by a Black officer (speculation) and now has it out for Rosa Parks, the spark that led to the Civil Rights Movement.
Tumblr media
As Yaz says here.
Tumblr media
Now, coming to the most controversial part of the episode, you have to consider that maybe this was the only logical next step.
Tumblr media
Remember, this was Krasko's plan. He couldn't kill Rosa because of the neuro restrictor in his brain (the Doctor being so smug about that while he had her in literal chokehold is a scene that lives rent-free in my head). But he nudged history enough by cheap little tactics (changing the bus drivers, smashing up the bus, etc.) that by the time The Doctor and the fam got things back on track there weren't enough passengers for a full bus without them. If they got up now, Krasko would get what he wanted.
Tumblr media
In this case, not helping is helping. Helping to preserve history and Rosa's legacy, even it's means being the jerk who recreates the circumstances of her arrest.
Tumblr media
This is Rosa's moment. The Doctor and the fam are just spectators to it, and that, I feel, is so much more powerful than if they stepped in or stepped out of the bus. Rosa doesn't need saving. What she needs is to stand up for herself—or should I say sit down for her rights. No matter how hard it might be to watch and do nothing, this is a moment no one gets to take away from her.

[start image description: Five digital drawings of Rivers Rosa with various other Firefighters from the game Blaseball. The first drawing is of Rivers Rosa and Edric Tosser. They are both seated, with Rivers looking at something mid-chew, holding a bowl and fork. Edric is seated next to her, following her gaze as they reach for something out of view. The second drawing is of Rivers Rosa and Mullen Peterson. The two of them are drawn from the back, talking to each other. Their names and jersey numbers are visible, as they are wearing their blaseball uniforms. The third drawing is of Rivers Rosa and Swamuel Mora. They are seated on a bench wearing winter attire. Swamuel is turned toward Rivers, carrying a large thermos in both hands. Rivers is smiling, wearing headphones next to them. Her hands are deep in the pockets of her jacket as she slouches on the bench. The fourth drawing is of Rivers Rosa and Declan Suzanne. The two of them are in Declan’s car, with Rivers directing Declan at the wheel, who looks somewhat apprehensive about driving. The fifth drawing is of Rivers Rosa and Justice Spoon. Spoon is carrying Rivers on their back in piggyback fashion. /end image description] Sketches I did after Rivers was incinerated. She finally got out of there.

Maybe?
No.
Not because Lexa doesn't like River, because surprisingly she does. She thinks he and his family might be some of the very few people in Night City who really deserve some happiness.
But no, because there's Johnny. Not only because of his presence in her head and the fact she will probably die, but because she stupidly fell in love with him.
Because Lexa unfortunately has in general a strong preference for questionable and difficult men. That kind of men, you should stay away from. And River is the opposite of that.
And because she knows, she's not a good person. But River is. At least he tries. Lexa doesn't even try anymore. She is who she is and is fine with it. Allthough River knows, she's a merc and therefore does "questionable" things, he has no idea, of what she's truly capable of and she leaves it at that. So she knows, both would not get along with the choices and morals (or the lack of) the other has.
Btw, not pictured: Johnny, almost blowing up the Relic out of jealousy 😂

Today on 'Things I spent WAY TOO MUCH TIME ON'-Drawing all the Grand Reunion (My Current Saturday Dnd Campaign I'm in.) As MLP characters.
In order form top left to right- Bertram Bluebell, Daimon Stoneclaw, Farren Oakenheart, Veruca Sawyer (That's ME!), Volante Di Rosa, Zeth. And the NPC: Ornest, River, Xynera and Shashalan.
This all started as a goof drawing Veruca as a small horse and then it was so well received that I *HAD* to do the rest of them.
