The Pyramid Barge.
It's rare to find someone who's been on The Pyramid Barge but even rarer to find someone who hasn't seen it. Launched about two decades ago from unknown origins, The Pyramid Barge quickly became an icon of the Central Waterway, making trips through the busiest thoroughfares and holding its own against raging currents and the wakes of lumbering behemoths transporting ore and goods up and down the river's many ports. Some days the barge would pass by silently without signs of a single soul on board; Some days raucous music would fill the air as its paddles slapped through the chop and smoke billowed from its stacks. Occassionally you'll even see a person or a small group on deck enjoying the weather, fishing, or lounging. There's enough room on the barge for a small community, yet you'd be lucky to find anyone who plausibly claimed to have set foot in one of its many mysterious rooms. If a vessel approaches alongside, they are ignored. If anyone attempts to board, the barge has shown surprising maneuverability. One group successfully hoisted its members onto the main deck under the cover of darkness which almost immediately resulted in all lights onboard going out and each member of the invading crew promptly expelled over its sides by unknown means. Legend says that one sailor, moments from death, was plucked from the rapids after his steamship capsized and nursed back to health only to be dropped at his doorstep a month later with little to no recollection of his time aboard the barge. He tells of warmth, hospitality, and an unending menu of delectable food options, but when asked for details or elaboration, even when it comes to the structure of the barge, he simply states "it was a fine ship. One meant for the man who built her." and would constantly hazard against any attempted boarding.

i got rickrolled today but it didn't work because i have adblocker installed, so youtube just told me i violated the terms of service. yesterday i was trying to edit a picture as a joke for my girlfriend, and google made me check a box to prove i'm human because i wasn't "searching normally".
it isn't just that capitalism is killing fun and whimsy, it is that any element of entertainment or joy is being fed upon by this mosquito body, one that will suck you dry at any vulnerability.
do you want to meet new friends in your city? download this app, visit our website, sign up for our email list. pay for this class on making a terrarium, on candlemaking, on cooking. it will be 90 dollars a session. you can go to group fitness, but only under our specific gym membership. solve the puzzle, sign up for our puzzle-of-the-month-club. what is a club if not just a paid opportunity - you are all paying for the same thing, which makes you a community.
but you're like me, i know it - you're careful, you try the library meetings and the stuff at the local school and all of that. the problem is that you kind of want really specific opportunities that used to exist. you are so grateful for libraries and the publicly-funded things: they are, however, an exception - and everything they have, they've fought tooth-and-nail to protect. you read a headline about how in many other states, libraries have virtually nothing left.
do you want to meet up with your friends afterwards? gift your friends the discord app. you can choose to go to a cafe (buy a coffee, at least), a bar (money, alcohol) or you can all stay in and catch a movie (streaming) or you can all stay in bed (rent. don't get me started) and scream (noise complaint. ticket at least).
you want to read a new book, but the book has to have 124 buzzwords from tiktok readers that are, like, weirdly horny. you can purchase this audiobook on audible! your podcast isn't on spotify, it's on its own server, pay for a different site. fuck, at least you're supporting artists you like. the art museum just raised their ticket price. once, they had a temporary exhibit that acknowledged that ~85% of their permanent art galleries were from cis white men, and that they had thousands of works by women (even famous women, like frida! georgia o'keefe!) just rotting in their basement. that exhibit lasted for 3 months and then they put everything away again.
walmart proudly supports this strip of land by the street! here are some flowers with wilting leaves. its employees have to pay out-of-pocket for their uniforms. my friend once got fined by the city because she organized a community pick-up of the riverfront, which was technically private property.
no, you cannot afford to take that dance class, neither can i. by the way - i'm a teacher. i'm absolutely not saying "educators shouldn't be paid fairly." i'm saying that when i taught classes, renting a studio went from 20 bucks an hour to 180 in the span of 6 months. no significant changes to the studio were made, except they now list the place as updated and friendly. the heat still doesn't work in the building. i have literally never seen the landlord who ignores my emails. recently they've been renting it out at night as an "unusual nightclub; a once-in-a-lifetime close-knit party." they spent some of those 180 dollars on LEDs and called it renovating. the high heels they invite in have been ruining the marley.
do you want to experience the old internet? do you want to play flash games or get back the temporary joy of club penguin? you can, you just need to pay for it. i have a weird, neurodivergent obsession with occasionally checking in to watch the downfall and NFT-ification of neopets. if i'm honest with you all - i never got into webkins, my family didn't have the money to buy me a pointless elephant. people forget that "being poor" can mean literally "if i buy you that toy, i can't afford rent."
you and i don't have time to make good food, and we don't have the budget for it. we are not gonna be able to host dinner parties, we're not made of money, kid. do you want some kind of 3rd space? a space that isn't home or work or school? you could try being online, but - what places actually exist for you? tiktok counts as social media because you see other people on it, not because they actually talk to you.
there was a local winter tradition of sledding down the hill at my school. kids would use pizza boxes and jackets and whatever worked, howling and laughing. back in september, they made a big announcement that this time, rules were changing, and everyone must pay 10 dollars to participate. when im not scared shitless, i kind of appreciate the environmental irony - it hasn't gone below 40. so much for snow & joyriding.
i saw a bulletin for a local dogwalking group and, nervous about making a good first impression, showed up early. the first guy there grimaced at me. "sorry," he said. "there's a 30-dollar buy-in fee." i thought he was joking. wait. for what? the group doesn't offer anything except friendship and people with whom to walk around the city.
he didn't know the answer. just shrugged at me. "you know," he said. "these days, everything costs money."

Best Things To Do, Spokane: A Guide to the Top Attractions in the City
Tumblr media
Credit: Image by Gayatri Malhotra | Unsplash
Must Visit Things to Do in Spokane
Spokane, situated in Washington State, is an active city that captures the essence of new-age city life alongside stunning natural scenery. The city offers its visitors breathtakingly beautiful parks, significant historical monuments and buildings, a variety of attractive art immersion, and a great variety of view food. If you're seeking out things to do, Spokane will not let you down.
At the same time, almost anyone interested in this beautiful city might be satisfied, whether you are interested in nature, history, the arts, or cuisine. Spokane has a lot to offer, and the following is the list of five recommended things to do in Spokane that tourists should visit.
Explore Riverfront Park
Riverfront Park is one of the major attractions in Spokane, WashCentre's Center. It is 100 acres, so it has many sights and can provide many exciting things to do for everyone.
The park's green space was constructed initially for the 1974 World's Fair and remains a free-access cultural facility for nationals and tourists nowadays.
Iconic Spokane Falls
Of the highlighted geographical structures in the park, the most impressive feature is probably Spokane Falls. These waterfalls are significant and unique, and while there are no helicopter tours or full-on treks through Victoria Falls, several viewing platforms throughout the park allow for the breathtaking sight.
For a better perspective, spin the Spokane Falls SkyRide, a gondola ride that visually narrates the falls and their vicinity.
Numerica SkyRide
Another popular attraction is the Numerica SkyRide in Riverfront Park, quickly becoming popular. This type of gondola ride is one of the highlights of any visit to this city, as is the beautiful falls it overlooks.
The actual ride takes roughly 15 minutes, and the exciting part is that there are myriad photo-worthy views throughout the experience.
Looff Carrousel
You can ride in the historical Looff Carrousel, a centennial carousel with intricately carved wooden horses for the kids and the child in you. This fun ride attracts kids and the young due to its timeless appeal.
Skate Ribbon and Pavilion
Riverfront Park's entertainment features include an ice ribbon that turns into a roller path. Nestled to the ribbon is the U.S. Pavilion, a large facility utilized for performances, functions, and a spectacular illumination show. Due to its construction and colorful environment, the pavilion can be considered the park's Center.
The M.A.C. Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture
For those who want to understand the history and culture of the Inland Northwest area, a journey to the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (M.A.C.) is a must.
This Center is located in the city's Browne's Addition neighborhoods and has a rich collection of exhibits, including art, history, and Native American culture.
Permanent Collections
This museum's collection is focused on objects from Native American cultures, especially the Plateau cultures of the Pacific Northwest. These collections give a rich history of the Aboriginal community that lived in the area for several generations.
Rotating Exhibits
Besides the permanent collections, there are temporary exhibitions and installations in the M.A.C., focusing on such genres as contemporary art and history with integrated elements. This is usually the case because such exhibits tend to showcase the artists' creations from the region and depict topics related to the area's past and present experiences.
Campbell House
Right beside the museum is the Campbell House, an original early twentieth-century-styled mansion. Tours of the house are available and reveal what life was like in Spokane for the people living there in those days. The Campbell House is one of the city's biggest attractions and an essential exemplification of the area's historical and architectural traditions.
Enjoy Outdoor Adventures at Riverside State Park
Natural lovers should consider themselves lucky to get a taste of Rivers State Park, a treasure trove of opportunities for those who want to spend time in the open air. This is one of the biggest parks in Washington, covering 9,245 acres and four miles northwest of Spokane.
Hiking and Biking Trails
Within the park are numerous, well-marked trails for hiking and biking that pass through wooded areas, open fields, and along the river edge. Some of the most used trails are the Bowl and Pitcher Loop, which gives a perfect view of the Spokane River and remarkable bowl-shaped rocks.
Water Activities
The Spokane River surrounds the park, creating good water recreational opportunities. Canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding are fashionable leisure activities, and with flat water to go on, one can just rent a kayak for the day.
Fishermen can also see different kinds of fish in the river, a common feature of the water source.
Camping and Picnicking
Riverside State Park has numerous camping and picnic areas and is the best place for a weekend camping trip or any event. This natural reservation offers many opportunities for camping, picnicking, and other recreational activities due to its well-developed infrastructure and beautiful natural environment.
Manito Park and Botanical Gardens
Manito Park and Botanical Gardens is a verdant ninety-acre park home to several splendid gardens and stunning landscapes. This park is in Spokane's South Hill and is considered a garden lover's paradise or simply for people looking for a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of life.
Duncan Garden
Duncan Garden is one of the well-known venues in Manito Park. It is a formal garden of the European style characterized by an exact repetition of plantages, trimmed lawns, and a water basin in the Center. When in bloom, the garden is bright with colorful flowers, giving visitors a colorful view and peacefulness.
Rose Hill
Rose Hill is another place one cannot afford to miss when in Manito Park. Over 150 varieties of roses are grown in this garden, making the environment sweet and aesthetically appealing. Tourists can view roses in their full glory and their varieties in the garden.
Japanese Garden
The Nishinomiya Tsutakawa Japanese Garden is a quiet place that hints at Japanese garden design. This calming place has water basins for koi fish, stone lamps, and trimmed trees and bushes. The Japanese Garden is best for meditation since it has a relaxing environment.
Gaiser Conservatory
The Gaiser Conservatory grows a collection of exotic plants and flowers worldwide. An indoor garden such as this one is a paradisiacal milieu that allows people to touch the tropics any time of the year. During the winter, it is mainly in demand, as people prefer to go there to take a warm and colorful rest from the frost.
Spokane boasts phenomenal natural views, countless historical sites and attractions, and a healthy dose of modern arts and recreational activities.
So, start packing, and let me guide you to the things you cannot miss while in Spokane, a city that offers fun, fun, and more fun for anyone who visits!

Louisiana Missouri, a Historic Drive
Just 90 miles north of St. Louis, and 30 miles south of Hannibal is Louisiana, Missouri. This town of around 3,330 is filled with art and history, my husband and I traveled to this fun River town. My brother-in-law Kim and his wife Terri came along for the ride, architecture and to see information on this town where the 13th Amendment came to light. Before crossing out of Illinois, we drove…

How a date with them would look like ?
Tumblr media
featuring: tsukishima kei, kuroo tetsurou, kageyama tobio, ushijima wakatoshi
author’s note: sooo, no im not dead. i have so much works in my draft i swear, i just need time to clean then upload them.
_________________________________
K.TSUKISHIMA
for a date, tsukki would take you to a quiet, cozy cafe. he loves the calm, relaxed atmosphere, and the chance to just sit and talk with you over a warm cup of tea or coffee. he'll pick a spot by the window, so you two can people-watch and make snarky comments together. tsukishima will also make sure to order your favorite treats, delighting in the way your face light up when you take that first bite.
throughout the date, he'll engage you in intellectual discussions, debating the merits of different artistic movements or the plot twists in both of your favorite books. but he also knows when to just sit back and listen, appreciating the way your eyes shine with passion as you share your own thoughts and opinions.
as the date winds down, tsukishima may suggest a stroll through a nearby park or museum, enjoying the quiet company. and when it's time to head home, he'll make sure to walk you to your door, maybe even stealing a soft, lingering kiss goodnight before reluctantly parting ways.
T.KUROO
kuroo is the type to plan an exciting, adventurous date for you. he might start by surprising you with tickets to a new art exhibit or a stand-up comedy show, knowing you'll appreciate the unique experiences. during the event, your boyfriend will be the perfect gentleman, his arm wrapped around your waist as he leans in to whisper teasing commentary in your ear.
after that, he'll take youto a trendy, dimly-lit restaurant, choosing a table tucked away in the corner for a more intimate setting. kuroo will insist on ordering a variety of tapas-style dishes, so you two can sample all sorts of flavors together. and of course, he'll make sure to pick out a bottle of your favorite drink to complement the meal.
as the night goes on, kuroo will guide youto a local park or rooftop bar, where you can stargaze and enjoy the city skyline. he'll hold you close, reveling in the way your head fits perfectly against his shoulder. and when it's time to part ways, he will steal one last, passionate kiss, his fingers tangled in your hair as he promises to plan an even better date next time.
T.KAGEYAMA
when it comes to dates, kageyama is a bit awkward and unsure of himself. but he knows that (if) you loves sports, he'll try to plan an active outing that caters to your interests. maybe he'll take you to a volleyball court and teach you some new skills, or challenge you to a game of one-on-one basketball. kageyama will be intensely focused, his brow furrowed in concentration as he coaches you and tries his best to impress you with his athletic prowess. but of course, if sports are really not your thing, he would have the same energy to do something you like.
after working up an appetite, kageyama will escort you to a casual, family-style restaurant, the kind with big portions and a lively atmosphere. he'll try his best to make conversation, asking you questions about your own hobbies and interests. and even though he might stumble over his words at times, kageyama will hang on your every word, captivated by the way you talk .as the date draws to a close, he might shyly suggest a walk through a quiet park or along the riverfront.
he'll be hyper-aware of your proximity, his fingers twitching with the urge to hold your hand. and when he finally musters up the courage to do so, kageyama will give your hand a gentle squeeze, his face flushed as he steals a quick, almost timid goodnight kiss.
W.USHIJIMA
for a date, ushijima would take his girlfriend to a serene, picturesque location- perhaps a scenic overlook or a quiet, secluded garden. he values tranquility and appreciates the chance to simply be present in the moment with you ushijima will pack a simple, but delicious picnic lunch, making sure to include all of your favorite foods.
during the date, he'll be attentive and engaged, listening intently as you share stories or thoughts. ushijima may not be the most talkative person, but he makes up for it by being a wonderful, thoughtful listener. he'll occasionally offer his own insights or observations, his deep voice calm and steady.
as the sun begins to set, ushijima will spread out a blanket, guiding you to sit beside him. you'll both watch the sky explode in brilliant hues of orange and pink, and he will subtly shift closer, his large hand covering yours. when the last of the daylight fades, he'll tuck you against his side, pressing a tender kiss to the top of you head. it may not be the most flashy or adventurous date, but for ushijima, it's the perfect way to cherish his time with the person he cares for most.

On this day... - April 20th
On this day Led Zeppelin performed:
+ 1977 : Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Led Zeppelin brought the power and the glory of British blues-rock to Cincinnati. The sheer energy of the affair was infectious. […] Even before they played any music they were hypnotizing. […] For three and a half hours, the fans who had come to see Plant strut and hear the stunning range of his voice were not disappointed: at times, he seemed to fill the hall. […]Even as the perpetrators themselves were speeding away from the scene, the 19000 witnesses were left standing and roaring their approval for their share of what will surely be remembered as the rock and roll event of the century: the 1977 Led Zeppelin American Tour. It is, truly, what Robert Plant had promised last winter in a Rolling Stone piece: “thunder, lightning and the hammer of the Gods.” – ‘The power and the glory: Led Zeppelin fills Riverfront with supreme rock and roll’ by Chas Main (Arts & Entertainment)

Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 1 (Passing the Torch!)
Tumblr media
Generation Two: Heather "Buttercup" Lea Nesbitt Cat Lover, Geek, Unflirty, Independent Veterinarian Favorite Colors: green, yellow Favourite Drink: Granite Falls Grappo Blanco Favourite Music: Focus Music Nickname: from her dad, Neal, who picked it because her astrobotanist mother, Daisy, loves yellow
Just before Heather Nesbitt’s 21st birthday, her youngest sister, Hazel, announced she’d fallen for her longtime friend, Nicola Moody-McMillan. The family was happy for her, but a twinge of sadness pulled at Heather’s heart. Holly was engaged to Kris Bell, River had promised his future to Cassandra Goth, and now the baby of the Nesbitt clan, blue-eyed Hazel, had declared one of her childhood besties her one true love. Heather couldn’t help but feel a little like she was missing out, even though she loved her independence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She put her feelings aside to celebrate her birthday at the Gnome’s Arms, the riverfront pub across Finchwick Square, just a few steps from their front door. She blew out the candles on a honey cake made by her dad, Neal, and danced until Everett pulled her away to the ruins. He would never stop loving her, nor she him, but they shared a fleeting kiss among the crumbling stones and agreed they were both on the right paths, however far they diverged from one another.
Tumblr media
She would soon leave for Spencer’s bachelorette trip to Selvadorada, and Holly was planning a vacation from school to join, too. She wanted to catch exotic fish, of course, while studious Heather couldn’t wait to follow adventurous Spencer around ancient temples in the Belomisia Jungle that they’d read so much about in school.
Tumblr media
At home in Henford, Heather loved to tear through the blue water and let Cordelia Falls wash over her, but she cut her usual morning swim in the River Bagley short – today she had to say goodbye to her good friend, Dylan Kraus. Now that they’d graduated and despite her clingy mother Susan’s trepidation, Dylan was moving to San Myshuno to work as an electrical engineer. Heather didn’t know when they’d see each other next, but as fate would have it, her next trip to San Myshuno would come just weeks later, when Malcolm Landgraab called to invite her to the Romance Festival in the Arts Quarter.
Tumblr media
Would unflirty Heather blow her big date with Malcolm? ->
(NOTE: At some point this generation I start to get better with getting the plumbob out of the way, but I'm still too reliant on headlineeffects to tell me the names of random sims around town and sometimes the plumbob will sneak by. Honest apologies!)

September 14, 1979
Dynasty Tour
Riverfront Coliseum - Cincinnati, Ohio
The day before this show Lydia’s divorce from Peter Criss was finalized
“KIϟϟ wasn’t playing any gems either. The 40 minutes this writer sat through before catching a final-edition deadline showed that KIϟϟ’ vacation from touring did nothing to improve the group musically. Peter Criss still approaches the drums with a beginner’s gingerliness. The concept of a backbeat continues to elude him and he uses the cymbals as often as donkeys fly. What Criss lacked in finesse he more than topped with his ill-timed tempos. He rushed so terribly it became obvious he couldn’t keep the beat if it were locked in Ft. Knox. Gene Simmons’ tentative bass guitar work was right at home with Criss’ drumming. The same went for the outrageously out-of-tune guitar musings of Paul Stanley and Ace Frehley. In concerts past, KIϟϟ attempted to temper its wretched rock with on-stage wanderings which bordered on theater. Theater of the absurd, but theater nonetheless. Friday evening, the theater was gone. KIϟϟ was merely a rock and roll band in grotesque mime makeup. Thus, the band’s performance could only be judged on the basis of its music and… its dancing. Oh, yes. There was dancing. As Simmons garbled his way through "Calling Dr. Love,” Stanley bounded across the stage. In his high-heels and mincing, one-and-a-two-and-a-three steps, he cavorted like a reject from a Lawrence Welk polka contest“ (Cincinnati Enquirer, 9/15/79).
The harshness of the review is hardly surprising in the context of the critic’s preshow interview and piece that ended, "That’s great, Gene. You’re just what the world needs, and old school teacher who preaches nihilism and sticks out his tongue” (Cincinnati Enquirer, 9/9/79) as a response to Gene’s comments that being awed by a show experience was more important than searching for meaning in art.
