Another thing I find really wild about Horizons is the close-call attacks make the battles feel more dangerous. Like the stray Psycho Cut could have possibly killed Liko, on top of a several-story fall off the building (not to mention coming very close to Friede's neck/face) and then that HUGE Leafage aimed straight at Amethio might have probably sent him falling off the airship if not for Ceruledge blocking it. (That said, at least he would've had Corviknight to catch him.)

Reminds me a bit of the Adventures manga with the Trainers themselves often getting into the fray.

Proposal: In the "what if" scenario of Amethio someday becoming one of the Rising Volt Tacklers, he also gets to rap for the ending theme, but instead of failing (Murdock, Landau) or cheating it (Dot) - he slays for the Singular Purpose of singing it better than Friede did

the parallels between liko and amethio fucking kill me so bad. god...!!!!!! i love them so much i hope they come besties for real... also its very sweet to me how amethio was the one who spoke first after liko suggested starting a fire to help warm everybody up guguhghgh ALSO. how amethio uses the Softest voice ever the entire time in the cave with liko like girl. he is just a Boy. someone give him the found family he deserves right NYOW!!!!!

A little rant on Pokémon Horizons because I feel like it:

If they keep having Amethio focused on his rivalry with Freed I'm going to be upset, him in relation to Liko or Terapagos is way more interesting in my opinion.

I don't know if y'all feel the same but I feel like that mysterious aura I saw around him in the first episodes has faded a bit, I was interested in him because of that, he looked different than any other rival characters in Pokémon, he was more like a real villain but now it seems he's just... another Pokémon rival.

Once again I hope I'm proven wrong by the next episodes, hoping we don't have to wait 20 and more episodes to see him again tho.

i feel like i like the idea of friede / amethio in the least shippy way possible. like i don’t want them to become canon or date, or kiss, or even like each other, i just want them to get closer to each other even though they’re rivals

So, now that both episodes of Horizons are out and subbed, my initial impression is very positive so far!

It feels like they're reaching out to the franchise's wider teen/adult audience a bit with the addition of an adult main character (I hope Friede gets a good amount of spotlight, I'd love him, Liko, and Roy to be the main trio with how they were marketed together), some fairly serious and (so far) decently competent antagonists, and (perhaps) a higher focus on story? (I expect there will still be a fair amount of filler, the new series will probably be over a hundred episodes like the other main Pokemon anime.) It feels like it'd be closer to DP or XY in being a bit more serious than recent Pokeani series, and I'm pretty happy about that.

I'm enjoying Liko a lot as a lead, her social awkwardness is pretty relatable, and I like her more perceptive nature, like her taking notes on Sprigatito so she could better understand its behavior, and her realizing she's in a potentially dangerous situation when she meets Amethio.

The Explorers are pretty neat too as an organization, Amethio was a favorite since first seeing him and I'm glad he lives up to my hype for him so far, but Zir and Conia deferring to him was a surprise. (They even use "-sama" for him.) We got a good bit on Amethio's personality being manipulative, professional, and a bit snarky, but I can't wait till we get more with Zir and Conia and their "notorious" organization as a whole. I'm curious about their goals and motives:

I love the way the battles are animated. (There's some standout details to me like Ceruledge and Charizard damaging the school, where we see Ceruledge's stray Psycho Cut nearly taking out Friede and Liko--if not for the pendant activating, she would've been a goner! 😱--and seeing Cap's more physical moveset in the fight with Amethio.)

Also, some moments had me cackling, like Friede basically kidnapping Liko when he comes to rescue her from Amethio and not explaining anything to her, much to the other Volt Tacklers' irritation with him, and Liko's fourth wall break realizing she's the heroine.

The OST is really good too, like when the Explorers are chasing down Friede's airship and when the Rising Volt Tacklers are flying into the storm to try to throw them off.

Looking forward to what comes next! They've got me pretty hooked for the first time in a long while.

I had a theory about Carmine's character. It's just a theory so don't take it seriously.

Carmine's character was introduced in episode 2 of arc 4 and she only interacted with Friede. I've seen a lot of people saying that this would be the only time we'll see her, personally I don't agree. Especially since she hasn't been animated in her BB outfit yet, and she wears it in her character sheet.

She appears on the poster so for me it makes no sense that she only appears for 5 minutes. Her character in the game is very interesting and could be easily added to Horizon, and possibly she will stop being against "outsiders". In the episode where she appears, she only interacts once with the RVT (in the end of the ep) and I think there is a reason.

(My point of view)➡️ I think her character will have nothing to do with them. I think it would be interesting if she interacted mostly or a good part with Amethio who will probably appear a lot in the arc too. Why? If Amethio ends up in Kitakami for some reason, if they meet somewhere there, she will probably start to come out with her famous lines and be against him because he is an "outsider".

Amethio is probably someone who has lost trust in people because of his grandfather and will probably have difficulty interacting healthily with someone. Already, he didn't think that Zir and Conia considered him their friend.

They will probably fight, him with his Ceruledge and her with her Sinistcha and they will use tera. and then, she will lose against him. (I think so especially since it would be the first time that Carmine tera. Sinistcha in the anime (since she didn't do it with Friede).

At this point, something will probably happen that will make them start interacting better and better and over time he could start to trust her and develop a healthy relationship with someone who is not an Explorers or an RVT. And she could start to not be against "outsiders" anymore. I also think that's why Kieran doesn't appear in Kitakami. Also Kieran has mini resemblances to Amethio (and both hit a wall lol)

As I said it's just a theory it's possible that they never interact but hey, who knows 🤷‍♀️

Also, I don't know if this is a hint, but they are also close in the arc 4 poster. They have 3 triangle shaped lower eyelashes, and are the two teenagers who have a rivalry with Friede. And they have a ghost type ace Pokemon. Funny coincidences, right?
