Sleaford Mods — UK Grim (Rough Trade)
Tumblr media

Grim indeed, this post-COVID, post-Brexit, pre-apocalypse Britain, where prime ministers strive — and fail — to outlast heads of lettuce, inflation rages and strikes cripple the healthcare system. And honestly, who better to chronicle these distressing times than Jason Williamson, the speaking half of Sleaford Mods and our century’s reigning poet of irascible contempt? Like its title track, UK Grim waxes artfully dyspeptic, its words a palimpsest of layered, complicated reference to current events and contemporary culture.
“U.K. Grim” pounds and swaggers, blotty electronic beats framing a barrage of furious cameos. Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Rishi Sunak, Vladimir Putin and make brief appearances, framed by sudden admonitions to “Keep that desk area tidy” and disgusted cries of “Put it in the bin.” Williamson talks fast because he has to. There’s so much to disparage.
As always, Williamson rails to the accompaniment of Andrew Fearn, the silent, head-bobbing, deck-jockey half of the band, whose beats create worlds for these songs to inhabit. Fearn’s music is often ominous, as on the sparse, cavernous “D.I.Why,” occasionally giddy (see the carnival-esque blare of “On the Ground”), and sometimes skeletally bare (“Right Wing Beasts”), but never less than interesting. Indeed, my sense is that Fearn has gotten better at his job with experience. Where rickety, bull-headed repetition was the hallmark of the brilliant Divide and Exit, here tracks branch off from each other in striking, idiosyncratic ways. There are shades of vintage video games, aughts experimental hip hop and synthy post punk woven in, every track its own thing.
There are also guest artists, with Florence Shaw from Dry Cleaning murmuring dangerously in “Force 10 from Navarone,” and Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction cavorting across the bruised peppiness of “So Trendy.” There’s an award to hand out, I’d give Shaw the edge for impact. Her clean, cultured tone cuts through the sweat and lather of the Sleaford Mods like a laser, sounding all the more threatening at low volume. (This is also the cut with the cryptic line, “Jason, why does the darkness elope?” which produces chills even if you have no idea what it means.)
And yet, when you come to the Sleaford Mods, you are mostly here for Jason Williamson, who is in exceptionally fine form. Here is Williamson’s spit-flecked, ornately structured poetry, his burnt-black humor and his surprising intervals of vulnerability (catch him in “I, Claudius,” a young lad spotting a Santa eating chips and asking his father, “Does he eat, dad?” Innocence lost, right there.) In “D.I.Why” faced with tattoo-copying posers who are “like the edgy version of something shit“ Williamson seeks guidance. “I saw a doctor, I said, why do I feel like slapping these BnM goths, all this post punk dross?” he asks a therapist. The answer is solid gold Sleaford Mods. “He said, because they’re fucking cunts, Jason. Fucking hit them.”
Still at it, still hitting hard, all hail the Sleaford Mods.

For the sweet, affectionate moments: 24. Slow Dancing (or 27. Accidentally Sleeping In)
So I was originally going to answer this for 24, but I felt that recent events have set things up somewhat perfectly for 27. Both a follow-up to this prompt, as well as for 5.9/Nathema Conspiracy (and obviously contains spoilers for that). Because apparently my brain wants to jump straight into tooth-rotting fluff, and I’ll probably write a whole novel later about how we get to this point. Because you know, write things in order right?
Sunlight filtered in through the open window, the beam having slowly traveled its way through the room over the course of the morning and had finally reached the point where it was shining directly onto one of the occupants. Her eyes slowly opened, and for the briefest of moments, she felt disoriented in the relative brightness and watched the dust motes dance in the air.
Mornings on Odessen’s underground base always started dark, the air just a little stale due to the constant recirculation that left a chill on her skin. The air here it was fresh and filled with the salty tang of the nearby ocean, the gentle sea breeze wafting in through the open window chasing away the warmth and humidity settling in as the morning crept on. The draft was just cool enough that it would have sent gooseflesh along her skin. However she only let out the briefest of shivers before the warmth of the body behind her shifted, his tall form conforming to the curve of her spine, and one arm curling protectively around her torso.
The action was so close to a normal lazy morning, she might have thought him still asleep if it wasn’t for the feel of his lips pressing against her neck, kisses traveling slowly upwards until he was nuzzling her ear.
“I didn’t mean to wake you,” Grey murmured quietly.
“You were cold,” Theron’s words were muffled by the constant stream of sleepy kisses, “and I have to take care of my bride.”
He accentuated the statement by pulling her closer to him, nose burying itself into her hair as if he was settling in for another round of sleep. A flush of warmth raced through her at the word, an unfamiliar term, one she’d never pictured herself being, but it wasn’t an unpleasant feeling. Just unexpected, in the best way possible.
His fingers absently traced the long healed scar over her abdomen that eerily mirrored his latest one. The inflamed pink on hers had long faded into a pale uneven silvery-white pucker that marred the otherwise smooth skin. His matching scar was still fading, the healing patches of skin still a little tender to the touch. Some of the more ragged and raised bumps were trying to harden and required a small daily application of kolto to try and prevent the keloid from setting into something permanent, hard, and painful. When he curled in close like this, skin-to-skin, she could feel his scars pressing up against hers. They nearly lined up perfectly, their exit wounds pressing up against each other as if some strange cosmic twist had brought them together.
Battle scars from near-fatal wounds were not a normal thing for a married couple to share.
She much preferred the matching set of rings, and let her hand drift down to his, hearing the satisfying clink of metal. The lips pressing against her ear curled up into a smirk, and he twined his fingers through hers, absently stroking the delicate carvings that had been painstakingly etched into the small piece of metal. It was beautiful craftsmanship, and she would have to remember to thank Arcann for lending his expertise in Theron’s attempt to make something unique and special. One of the many sweet and well-meaning gestures he’d gone through since his return to the Alliance.
She let out a long sigh and leaned back slightly, as if that could somehow wrap herself further into the warmth of her… husband’s embrace. That was still new, still strange—and yet fitting. Most of the past few months had felt that way, as if they had both been slowly rediscovering who they were, both together and apart, healing the wounds inflicted on them both physical and emotional. The ‘impromptu’ vacation to Rishi, back where they had begun, had seemed like a perfect escape from everything that had happened over the past year. Even if it was probably the first real vacation that either of them had taken in a long time—if ever.
They’d relaxed in the sun during the day, splashed about in the ocean, and wandered along the beach, hand in hand with nothing but the stars above them. Without any impending crisis or doom looming on the horizon, they’d had time to finally exist and just be. It wasn’t even a question that this was the perfect place to start their new beginning.
Stars, she was pretty sure at least half of Odessen was going to have a conniption fit when they got back. Senya had been so supportive, so ecstatic for the upcoming nuptials — all too happy to fill in the maternal void that had long been left in Grey’s life. Hylo had been making some big-to-do about Theron’s bachelor party, Koth likely planning to act as getaway pilot for whatever hijinks the Logistics wing had come up with. Lana had been curiously neutral on the whole subject, but then again elaborate parties and fairy tale weddings weren’t exactly her style. Grey knew the feeling.
“This is perfect,” she said.
“You’re perfect.”
There should have been a flash of annoyance at that, his insistence that she was somehow more elevated or pure than she actually was, but his meaning was carried low in his voice, in the way he pulled her closer, in how just their renewed proximity lit up a different kind of heat low in her belly. She rolled over, and the disgruntled noise he made at the break in contact was quickly silenced as she closed in the distance. Their limbs tangled together as she pulled him in for a slow, gentle kiss, trying to savor the moment — and make this perfect quiet morning stretch out as long as possible.
When they finally broke apart, he took a few moments to stare at her with the full intensity he always focused on everything with. His eyes were soft though, not glinting hard like when he was working through a problem. He was open in a way that he never allowed himself to be with anyone else. This was him at his core, naked honesty laid bare. She had missed so much about him when he had been gone — but this was the part she had missed most. It was hard to do or say anything when he looked at her like that. Like looking into the heart of a star, it was so bright she wanted to look away but somehow couldn’t, and tied her insides up in knots in a way nothing else could.
He never had to say “I love you” aloud, because he practically shouted it from the rooftops whenever he looked at her like that. Words had always seemed to be something he struggled with, at least it was when the emotion behind them was real. She couldn’t say that was exactly a foreign feeling as her own words often got caught in her throat. That depth of feeling too hard to quantify with her meager vocabulary. So instead she laid a hand on his cheek, and hopefully returned his smile with one-tenth of the intensity of his.
He turned, lips gracing across her palm. “Good morning.”
“It is a good one,” she agreed quietly, “although it’s rapidly getting away from us.”
“There are worse things,” he murmured, “than spending time with my wife.”
She flushed at that, the title still strange and awkward to her ears. She wondered how long it would take for it to settle in and feel natural. “You don’t have some pressing business with a pirate somewhere you need to get to?”
“Not unless you remembered to bring that outfit from your Red Hull days.”
“Why would I bring that?”
“Hey, you just really got into the whole pirate thing last time we were here. Wasn’t sure if you had some sort of secret fetish.”
“Theron!” She was not turning red, she wasn’t—but his smug grin said otherwise. “I don’t—I…”
“If you want to wear an ornamental eyepatch for the duration of our honeymoon, I’m not going to stop you.” The stupid jerk was openly grinning, clearly trying to fight down his mirth. “I just want to be supportive.”
“I was just getting into character!”
“Oh, so it’s role playing you’re into then?”
“No, I—it wasn’t—”
He finally lost the fight and let out a sharp bark of laughter, and quickly followed it up by trying to physically kiss away the deep frown that he had just induced. She let out a heavy sigh and shook her head.
“Why do I put up with you?”
“Because you love me?”
She tried to remain irritated, but found it melting away as he flashed her the biggest set of puppy dog eyes that she could never turn away from. It was such a normal moment, lacking all of the gravitas that had leaked into all of their personal interactions over nearly the past year.
“I suppose I do,” she said after a moment, “even if you get far too much enjoyment out of teasing me.”
“Maybe I just want to see how far that blush will go down.”
“I would think you’d have your answer by now.”
“Maybe, but still haven’t gotten tired of seeing it yet.” He leaned in, resting his forehead against hers, still watching her with that same mixture of adoration and boyish glee that was such a rare but cherished sight to see. “Pretty sure I’m not going to at this point.”
She could have continued with the banter, let the conversation meander on naturally as it always did, but instead she decided to just lean into the moment, breath out on his inhale, and breath in on his exhale, until it seemed like they were exchanging one long, continuous breath, and it wasn’t clear where he stopped and she began. Just like it used to be, how it always should have been.
It was her who finally broke the moment, the words out of her mouth before she’d even had time to consider them. “There’s a part of me that wishes we could stay here forever.”
He blinked, quiet for a moment, as he parsed the statement, but then gently reached forward and brushed at the bangs that had fallen into her eyes. “What part of you says that?”
“I don’t know,” she said softly, glancing down to where their fingers were still twined together, “the part that just wants to start every day like this. Just you and me, not weighed down by the rest of the galaxy.”
“You wouldn’t get bored?”
She closed her eyes and shook her head, then looked back at him. “Probably as bored as you would get.”
He shrugged a shoulder lightly, although she couldn’t tell if it was meant to be in agreement or not. “I’m adaptable. Wherever you go, I go, remember? For better or for worse—you’re stuck with me.”
Her smile was bittersweet, remembering the night long ago when she had contemplated running away from it all as the weight of the galaxy pressed in all around her. It was not her proudest moment, she knew what duty dictated of her—knew that there had been too many counting on her to pull off some miracle that she herself had no hope of accomplishing alone. But they had done it together somehow, her, the Alliance—Theron.
The man willing to give up everything including his life to keep her safe. Had come dangerously close to doing just that.
There was a stinging behind her eyes that she refused to give into, and she swallowed past the lump in her throat and hoped that he hadn’t noticed. He was so happy right now, she couldn’t ruin it by getting sucked back into could-have-beens.
“I love you,” she said after a long moment, “and I just want more days like this.”
Theron’s expression softened from the carefully composed expression of nonchalance into the man who hid underneath all of the prickly layers he presented to the outside world. “I do too—maybe… we can do that.”
At her frown, he continued.
“I know we’re laying low right now, and that’s not going to last forever… but what if we compromise?”
“How so?”
“We buy a place here, somewhere only you and I know. And when it gets too crazy—we slip away for a while. At least until we catch our breath.”
“That sounds an awful lot like a vacation you’re talking about. More than one in fact. Didn’t think you took those.”
“Look who’s talking,” he tossed back, “but I’m serious. You shouldn’t have to run yourself ragged like you have been. You didn’t ask for anything that was thrown at you—and I just made a vow in front of a somewhat questionable Rishii priest that I’d take care of you no matter what.”
She couldn’t fight down the blush or smile, and tried to redirect the attention elsewhere. “Now that you mention it, I’m not sure anything we did last night is legally binding.”
“Hey, we’re married now, so in my book everything we did was all very much legal.” His wink was a little lurid, and she caught onto his meaning, the warmth rushing back to her cheeks as she remembered in fairly vivid detail what ‘everything’ entailed, including the interlude on the balcony.
“I was talking about the marriage license.”
“We can double-check the paperwork later. Right now… I’m happy to continue our honeymoon. That is… unless you’re really wanting to go visit the hall of records at this very moment.”
“Well, when you put it that way…” She caught his laugh in a quick kiss. “I suppose it can wait a little bit longer.”
“At least until this afternoon?” He tried.
“Maybe tomorrow — no rush, right?”
“For you, I have all the time in the world.”

Blessaire's parents (Jedi Knight)
Note: I am not pleased with how Beltoiz came out, there is literally no good options for coily hair in this game. You must know that Beltoiz has very long and well kept dreadlocks... Guess at some point I'm going to download artbreeder, see if that helps -_-
Beltoiz of Clan Vizla: Distant descendant of Iaparce Nullpax, Jedi Exile, his grandmother was a jedi who had a very tense relationship with the council and left it after several disagreements. The animosity from the family pushed his mother to join the mandalorians and by the time he was born in Rishi, he was completely uninterested in returning to those roots. He met Dennere during the Battle of Alderaan and abandoned the war to elope with her. During their honeymoon/adventure they crossed Tatooine and had an accident involving tusken warriors that left Beltoiz gravely injured, Dennere died and Blessaire was lost. His clan welcomed him back as he was still very young and he was quickly forgiven. He would get an opportunity to meet with Blessaire again after 12 years and confirm her survival, inviting her to go with him and change her mind about joining the Jedi Order. This didn’t work in his favor and he was unable to convince her even if they spent more time together. It created a rift between them that would only heal after Zakuul’s invasion and Blessaire’s release from carbonite.
Dennere Thul: daughter of Horis Thul, his favored child, always had too much of a wandering spirit and was uninterested with court affairs. In Beltoiz she saw a chance to escape from all the unnecessary complications of nobility and to have someone who would be as adventurous as her. Had she not perished in Tatooine she would have gladly joined clan Vizla later on.

Finished commission for @greyias and an absolute delight to draw! Their Jedi and Theron eloping on Rishi. I’m not sure what I enjoyed more- the chance to draw a giant bird dude, or Theron in a pineapple shirt!!

Note
a gentle “i love you” whispered after a soft kiss, followed immediately by a stronger kiss
A few hours ago, this dress was fantastic.  It was simple for what it was, but perhaps a bit extra for eloping on the beach of Rishi. The white silk clung form fitting to my body, even with the empire waist and a-line fit, with a very short train trailing behind me.   The dress rested on my shoulders with small straps, my shoulders themselves exposed, and the dramassia shimmersilk sleeves hanging down my arms.  The neckline was low, exposing just a slight bit of the meager attempt of a cleavage I could manage.  I’d loved it the moment Hylo had brought it out, even when I hadn’t even hinted I needed one.
I’d worn the dress with not a whole lot of adornment.  I was a simple person, I didn’t find a lot of uses for jewelry so I didn’t wear any. But I broke from my normal tradition and wore my hair down, the purple part of my hair peeking out in places underneath my brown hair.
The dress and my hair did provide the appropriate desired response as well.  I did always seem to find rendering Theron Shan speechless as a personal accomplishment.  He was able to find his voice when it was required.
After the small ceremony and paper signing, we’d intended to just stroll along the beach.  But as per protocol, things never really go to plan.
“Did you not check the weather reports first?” I asked.
“It said a chance of rain… couldn’t you sense it with whatever Force thing?” Theron asked back at me, his breath coming in short gasps.  He was ahead of me and holding onto my hand as we raced through Raider’s Cove.
Lightning flashed overhead as the rain came down like sheets of water.  “The Force doesn’t exactly work that way.”
“Of course it doesn’t.” His voice was exasperated.
Most all the store fronts had been pulled up as we raced onto another platform. Spotting an awning, Theron tugged me underneath it for us to catch our breath.  He looked over to the Rishii shopkeeper who was huddled under it as well.  “Oh, sorry. Just need to borrow this for a moment.”
The shopkeeper shook his head and waved his feathery hands in dismissal.  “Quite alright, quite alright.”
Theron pulled me in front of him, looked me over a bit, and pulled off the new red jacket he’d worn for the occasion and tucked it around my shoulders and pulled it closed in front of me. I gave him a puzzled look, though I was grateful for the added warmth the coat brought.  He just winked and said nothing.
“Just married?” the shopkeeper inquired.
While I flushed a bit, Theron grinned in response and said, “How’d ya figure?”
“Well it’s not every day you have a lovely lady in a white dress.”
“I look like a drenched womp rat more so than a bride,” I muttered under my breath, crossing my arms a bit and trying to suppress a shiver.
Theron chuckled and kissed my forehead.  “Well you’re my drenched womp rat.”
“The storm doesn’t look like it’s letting up anytime soon, do you all have a place to stay?” the Rishii asked curiously.
Theron nodded. “Yeah our room is just a few buildings over.” He then looked to me.  “Want to try to book it there?”
I studied him and then where he was motioning.  Dubious, I took another look up at the storm.  I tilted my head slightly, listening to the howl of the wind, the crack of thunder. The Rishii shopkeeper probably had the right way of it.  A lot of what Master Orgus had told me about this world, seemed to fit with this weather pattern.  I looked back at Theron. “What do you think?”
He gave me a smirk.  “Can’t get much worse than this.”
“You say that now…” I stared at him and then back at the storm.
“Right right, don’t tempt our luck?”
“I don’t need luck. Come on.”  I grabbed his hand and pulled him into a run towards the hotel we’d booked a room in.
I could hear the shopkeeper laughing as we left. Something about ‘to be young again’ or something of that nature.  Was a bit difficult to make out as the wind had picked up.
Laughing I raised my voice to Theron behind me. “You had to jinx it.”
“You said you didn’t need luck.”  He was laughing as well.
“I don’t.  You apparently do.”
We finally made it into the hotel and took our time catching our breath once on the elevator to the room.  Theron smirked back at me lightly as he reached his hand back out to mine and led me to the room, where he fiddled with the lock and escorted me in.
He led me into the large room, tugging me towards a window sill where he leaned against pulling me closer. He ran his finger down the edge of his coat he’d had me wear and moved to open it up, pushing it off my shoulders. Tossing it to the side, he pulled me towards him by my waist.  He lowered his voice to just above a whisper with a touch of a purr to his tone.  “Jyana Ka… Shan.  You aren’t wearing a bra, are you?”
I blinked and felt my cheeks heat up, looking down at my chest, it suddenly dawning on me what he had covertly covered up.
He chuckled and lightly tipped my chin up and softly met my lips with his own.  He pulled back and whispered, “I love you.”
“I love you,” I whispered back with a small exasperated sigh.
He pulled my lips back to his with a lift of my chin, the initial touch soft, but then he deepened it, pushing his tongue in to meet mine.  As the kiss deepened, his hands slowly went down to my shoulders and I felt my wet white dress easily slip down to the floor.

some revised and some new kai headcanons
he is mostly a vegetarian who occasionally lapses for a half-decent nerf burger when he’s been on a cantina crawl
contrary to what previous screenshots have shown, his original lightsaber color was yellow, as he was fairly traditional as a sentinel when he first tuned his crystal. after being vitiate’s thrall, the emotional fallout affected him — he nearly got rid of his lightsabers entirely to assemble new ones, but after a long discussion with master satele in which he came to his own thought that getting rid of them would be getting rid of a part of himself, he meditated and retuned his crystals. the new color of his crystals is yellow tinged in black (the glaring abyss crystal in game) as the pursuit of justice is even stronger in him now than it ever was in the past.
the intermission between “killing” emperor vitiate and the revanite situation is spent in an emotional crisis that manifests in rogue vigilantism on nar shaddaa — disguised as his post as a jedi watchman, which to be fair, is what he did actually intend — and drinking a lot more than he really should. between more frequent visits to the jedi outreach on narsh and kira convincing him to talk to the council, he starts a healthier path to recovery. this results in a new hobby of gardening that takes over his apartment balcony. although, he’s still prone to vigilantism, but he’s sleeping better and taking better care of himself in the process of protecting those in his charge.
he proposes to theron between the darvannis mission and the first battle of odessen. they elope a few months after theron heals from the incident on nathema.
his favorite animal is a grophet. why? he doesn’t know. he liked to watch them roam around rishi and free them from the pirates’ cages, then he bought a plush of one from a tourist vendor, and he would probably own one as a pet if he could.
ideally, he would have wanted to stay the jedi battlemaster. lightsaber forms and teaching are more suited to him and what he actually loves to do.
he has chronic pain from sitting on the sabotaged throne on iokath because the massive jolt of energy affected his nerves
his hair starts sprouting gray strands on his temples by the time he hits 35
being the public face of the alliance causes him more anxiety than he’s willing to admit, even after all the good that he’s managed to do. lana attempting to play puppetmaster and theron trying to work the alliance as a possible republic asset also stresses him out. part of him hopes that working with the republic again means that eventually he can step down or step aside and finally breathe.
he and theron eventually decide to adopt a son and start a family together. the timing is still unnerving, given the reignited war between the republic and the empire, but they sort of stumbled across him and what’s timing when it just feels right? so. his name is reza and he’s their very spoiled and beloved boy who has many babysitters among the alliance.

What's Xaja's happiest memory?
Ooooh! Thanks for the ask, anon!
Despite being a little angst-monster, she’s got a few happy memories in there. The ones that most come to mind for her are, in no particular order…
The first time she won a duel with her bestie, Jakar (the Barsen’thor in Taerich ‘verse, and the brainspawn of @d6790). Considering there’s a ten-year gap in age and experience, it’s a moment where she was VERY proud of herself. :P
Any one of the times on her ship where she and Doc and Kira could sit around and talk/joke/snark at each other, and just be without the burdens of two Jedi and a medic looming over their shoulders. Those memories are fun and remind her of how carefree and relaxed she used to be. Before, y’know, she got volun-told as Stopper of Apocalypses and all that.
The first time, on Rishi, when she and her father got to just sit and talk for a long while. Reanden loves all his kids, but he’s got a particular soft spot for his little girl that he couldn’t raise, and Xaja is a total daddy’s girl. They’ve got a really close bond.
Surprisingly not her first kiss with Theron, or her first time with him in the shuttle on Yavin (although those were some VERY delightful memories for her), but during one night between SOR and Ziost, when they were cuddling in his bed post-coitus and decided that they were an actual Thing beyond just friends with benefits. If KOTFE hadn’t happened and Xaja hadn’t become a carbonite popsicle, they would have been living together full-time in short order.
And for her all-time happiest memory, it’s a hard toss-up between eloping with Theron on a beach somewhere far away from Odessen and Zakuul, or the first time Theron handed her their newborn son.

#4- a drunken kiss
(The second prompt from my most recent batch. @greyias, I’m still working on yours- and this one shares a theme with it-  but I’m trying to ride this good mood for as long as it lasts so everyone gets fluff today instead!
As mentioned in previous prompts, Nine and Theron have been married, officially speaking, for half a year at the time of Crisis on Umbara. Unofficially, their anniversary’s a few weeks earlier than that.)
properly
She’s not sure what she expected from a Rishi hotel, honestly.
They could have slept shipboard like they always did; that had been the plan, but their docking platform was on the opposite side of Raider’s Cove and with everyone in the bar buying them congratulatory drinks neither she nor Theron were in any shape to make the long walk back at the end of the night. More to the point, he takes her hand as they step out into the street, pulling her toward the little hotel on the far side of the magistrate’s office.
“Come on.” When he lifts her up into his arms he wobbles a little and they both laugh at the simple stupid joy of it; for all their years of second-guessing this is right and they know it and that too, makes them laugh and cling harder to each other. “Let’s do this properly.”
The wreath of bright flowers tilts to one side, a dangling curl of vine brushing her ear, as she straightens the matching bloom pinned to the lapel of his red jacket. If not for the adornments it might have been any night at all, the two of them in their usual armor as the world keeps moving around them. “We might be a little late for that.”
They sign the guest ledger, matching scrawls, because no one’s going to read it and no one would believe them, anyway- Empress Nyriala of Zakuul, First of Her Name and Theron Shan, Consort to Her Imperial Majesty- and they take the key from the half-sleeping clerk and together stumble up the stairs.
Stars, this mattress is terrible.
She tips backward onto the bed regardless, laughing, reaching out for him, and when her head hits the pillow the room spins around her in dizzy circles.
“I think,” she mutters, blinking, “I might be slightly drunk.”
“Nope. Not possible.” Theron falls over beside her, brushes a loose petal off the bridge of her nose. “You’re perfect.”
“Flatterer.” Head turning, her mouth brushes across his still-outstretched hand, along the thin silver band still unfamiliar around his finger. In a few more weeks it’ll be something different, the ones they’d already chosen for themselves waiting in carved boxes in their quarters; for now, it’s there, a twin to her own, a tactile reminder of every promise they’ve ever made and most especially this one- you, forever-
He nods agreement, and if the motion makes him dizzy too he hides it well. “Always. I mean, you’re my wife.”
It hadn’t really sunk in until that moment, she thinks.
(They’d made jokes about it for months, as the complications of the impending Zakuulan ceremony increased exponentially with every passing day; if her unwanted coronation made her sick with stress the damned wedding was giving her hives. She’d delegated much of the work, with Lana’s help, to Senya- I never had a public ceremony, Senya said, but I know how it’s meant to go- but still he’d peer over her shoulder at the pages and pages of arrangements and shake his head.
We could just elope, you know.
She rolls her eyes. We might be a little late for that. Chocolate cake, or vanilla?
But then they walk past the Rishi magistrate’s office on their way back from the Trader’s Guild and almost collide with a wedding party, two women in matching dresses hand in hand in the doorway dodging thrown flowers and a cascade of well-shaken champagne.
Now that looks like fun. She turns to Theron, who’s got one eyebrow raised in an expression she knows to be a particularly dangerous one.
Are you thinking, he says, what I’m thinking?
As it turns out, she was.)
“I love you, you know.” She rolls onto her side; they’re nose to nose, almost, heads on the same pillow. “Did we really just get married? Or-”
“I love you, too. And I think so- I mean, I don’t know how binding it is, but we both said I will at all the right times, right?” He grins when she nods, pulls her in even closer with one arm around her waist. “So I’m pretty sure it counts.”
“Good,” she says, and tries to wriggle out of her jacket. The bed’s narrow, though, and with all her squirming she only succeeds in nearly falling off the edge before Theron hauls her back towards its center. “If we’re proper now, then kiss me properly.”
His mouth tastes of wine and whiskey and the sweet-frosted cakes they’d shared at the end of the night and-
“Not sure if that’s allowed.” He bites at her lip and as his forehead brushes hers the pressure sets the wreath askew again, petals falling, catching on her hair and on his eyelashes. “I hear there are rules against this kind of thing when you’re married.”
“Then you’d better go back downstairs and get us a divorce-” even mouth on mouth and half-undressed it takes him a second to realize she’s teasing; she feels him go still and she kisses him again, harder, until the moment passes and he sighs, content, and eases into her touch- “because if I can’t do this any more-”
“You know,” he gasps, “I was never much for rules.”

Asha Bhosle: ‘I told Helen that I would have eloped with her if I were a man’ - bollywood
https://www.liveindiatimes.com/asha-bhosle-i-told-helen-that-i-would-have-eloped-with-her-if-i-were-a-man-bollywood/
Playback icon Asha Bhosle doesn’t think twice when you ask her to pick her favourite among the numerous actresses she has sung for in her illustrious career. “Helen! She was so pretty that the moment she would enter the room, I would stop singing and look at her. In fact, I would request her not to come when I was recording! Do you know that famous story when I told Helen that I would have eloped with her if I were a man! That is true,” she laughed.
The legendary singer made her digital debut with her official YouTube channel on Wednesday. From recording in a studio with live rehearsal to sending an audio recording via Internet, the veteran has observed a huge transformation over an ongoing career since 1943. Now, at 86, she is gearing up to share many stories from her life, apart from her music, in the digital space.
youtube
Talking about her new venture, the National Award-winning singer told IANS: “I have sung so many songs composed and written by veterans like OP Nayyar, Khayyam saab, Shankar-Jaikishan, and they are all celebrated. That is great. But I also want young and good lyricists, composers and music directors to come forward and grab the opportunity to create music. I would like to encourage them. So, on my channel I will talk of and share my experience on how we struggled to find space here. I am sure they will also feel inspired by knowing them. There are several unreleased songs that were composed by RD (Burman) and I have them all. I will slowly release them, sing them on my channel. I want to share them with our fans.”
She continued: “I am old now. I have seen a sea of transformation inside the recording studio. When I started singing in the studio, we had the culture of singers, composers, writers, film directors and even actors sitting together and sharing their inputs and feedback on the song being recorded. All of us used to feel that we are doing teamwork. Aaj kal sab badal gaya, but main apne yaadon ki pitara lekar ayungi (things have changed now, but I will arrive with my trove of memories).”
Bhosel launched her YouTube channel on May 13 and sung the song ‘Main hoon’. In the video, we can see how she recorded the song in the studio, dressed in a beautiful saree.
Sharing what her driving force is, Bhosle mentioned: “I have a different personality on stage when I dress up. I interact with fans, take their request — that is different. But there is a moment that happens when I stand in front of the mic and sing the song. That is pure – rather, the purest — moment that I live as a singer. That’s the time creation happens. In all these years, that is the only thing that has not changed. I cannot explain that moment but I know when I am singing, it happens. I live for that moment and will be living forever.”
Remembering those good old days, she said: “Kishore (Kumar) da and I used to do so much of madness. We were great friends. I will share the story of our friendship with my fans. I have worked with so many artistes like Geeta Dutt, (Mohammad) Rafi saab. Raj Kapoor saab used to visit our recording studio. Madhubala, Nargis ji would visit us to hear the song that we were singing for them. Chintu (late Rishi Kapoor) used to come with Raj saab. Woh bhi to chala gaya (he too left us). I will share my best memories with my fans.”

About the Covid-19 lockdown, and referring to her dance numbers like Piya Tu Ab To Aaja, ‘Rangeela Re, Sharara Sharara, she said: “Ghar par baithke dukhi nahin hona, mere gaane pe dance karo na (don’t be sad sitting at home, dance to my songs). Don’t be upset, sab theek ho jayega (all will be fine). Before the recording of a song, just to set my mood right, even I used to dance! Then I would come out of my room and sing the song with a very composed body language. How can you sing ‘Yeh mera dil pyaar ka diwaana’ without dancing!”

The hues of Gujarat at the Rukmani Devi Temple at Dwarka, Gujarat. There's an interesting story associated with Rukmini Devi... Read on to know more 😊 . . . It is said that Rukmani Devi was betrothed to Shishupal, however, she was unhappy with the match. She hence wrote a letter to Lord Krishna, who drove all the way from Dwarka to fulfill her desire to marry him. They eloped, got married, and went to Rishi Durvasa for blessings and invited him for to accompany them and give them an opportunity to serve him. The Rishi agreed on one condition, Rukmani and Krishna were to tow him in a chariot themselves. On the way, upon Rukmani feeling thirsty, Krishna procured water from the ground to satiate himself and her, but they forgot to ask the Rishi. This made him furious and caused him to curse the couple with a separation of 12 years along with another curse that dictated that Dwarka would always get "Khara Paani" or salt water which is not potable. . . . The speciality of the temple - you can donate tankers of potable water to be sent to far flung villages with water scarcity. Isn't that amazing? . . . #rukmanidevitemple #krishnarukmani #dwarka #gujarat #indiantemple #indianmythology #mythology #beautiful #incredibleindia #traveltales #travellover #travel #shotononeplus5t #kuchdintohgujarogujaratmein #bangalanonroad (at Rukmini Temple)

How tough is it to Grey that Kira wasn't around to be her bridesmaid?
That’s kind of an interesting question, mostly for the circumstances!
I think if Grey had been a bit less dedicated to (okay, “obsessed with” might be a more apt term) the whole Jedi mentality for as long as she was, she might have had more expectations and thoughts for a wedding, including who would be standing at her side. If that were the case, she would have been pretty devastated to not have her best friend and partner in galactic crimefighting up there with her.
In a lot of ways, Kira was a major grounding influence for her during the Vanilla storyline. It’s really one of the things I wound up loving so much in the Knight storyline (especially with a female Knight) is their deep, close friendship. With Kira missing during KotFE (and even up to now), in addition to the loss of the Jedi Order as a support system, Grey really tried to fill in that void with Theron and Lana.
Right now (unless it gets completely contradicted by future canon), Theron and Grey wound up eloping to Rishi in the time between “Nathema Conspiracy” and “Jedi Under Siege”, so they actually wound up having no one at their wedding from the Alliance. This was partially due to the fact that the thought of a giant wedding was giving both of them claustrophobia, but also they both have a bit of an issue with impulse control. Had Kira been around, I think she might have actually recognized some of the warning signs of the couple being a flight risk and dialed things back a little 😉
Of course, had Kira been around I think Grey would have been in a better place, post-Nathema? That entire arc was really hard on her (for both obvious and less obvious reasons) and she really needed a vacation from not just the action, but the Alliance itself. I wonder if having her best friend around would have helped ease the strain that whole Order of Zildrog business had put on her. And if she wouldn’t have needed a vacation that made eloping just so tempting.
However, I totally think there’s going to be a tacklehug type of situation when Kira does return (and if we don’t get one in a cutscene, I’m headcanoning that we get one. Because dang it, Kira deserves a hug! Especially after facing off against Vaylin to try and rescue the Knight during the timeskip). I’m also guessing Kira sucker punches Theron after she hears about Umbara, much to Grey’s dismay. Luckily Theron’s fully recovered by then so no permanent damage or reinjuring his lightsaber impalement.
I think there might be some sort of re-dedication ceremony or something that will happen later down the line, and Kira will definitely be invited to be the maid of honor (or equivalent) when that happens.
(Lana gets to be the Best Man equivalent. Teff’ith is the flower girl. Sorry, I don’t make the rules.)

Bobby (1973)
Director: Raj Kapoor
Cast: Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia
Genre: romance
https://www.timeout.com/london/film/the-100-best-bollywood-movies-the-list
Rich Hindu adolescent lad Raja (Kapoor) falls for Bobby (Kapadia), the 16-year-old granddaughter of his Goan Catholic nanny. When his snobbish parents object to their ‘friendship’, the young lovers decide to elope. This landmark film was a resounding success as Indian audiences had rarely ever seen teenage love expressed so sensuously on screen. The lead duo was believable too, and Kapadia became a national sensation with her mini-skirts and halter tops – an exposing bikini sequence was especially eye-grabbing. Laxmikant Pyarelal’s fresh soundtrack added to the appeal of this sweet film, with every song remaining a hit to this day.
The big scene When the top screen villain of the time Prem Chopra makes a cameo as himself.
