read the talented mr. ripley today in one sitting and i gotta say 1) very addictive novel, really sucked me in (even if i'm not exactly going to become a patricia highsmith fangirl on account of. um. some really vile personal beliefs) 2) all men born after 1930 know is buy sport coats, drink martinis, be gay, and lie 3) lol saltburn really wanted what this movie had re: manipulative villain protagonist and homoerotic obsession 4) intrigued by the film adaptations of this because i really cannot picture matt damon at all as tom ripley even though the 90s movie is supposed to be good and while i can see andrew scott as a savvy murderer he's also quite a bit older than the novel's twenty-five-year-old tom ripley which gives the character a different vibe. very curious to see what i'll think of those…

I am once again thinking about Hoarah Loux, the only man Marika ever trusted and the only man she ever loved. It’s such an insane thing to think about the fact that the second last boss of Elden Ring is Some Guy. He is literally just A Human Man. Marika looks at this fucking raving barbarian man and decides to My Fair Lady him into a Lord like the deranged woman she is by assigning him a babysitter to perpetually gnaw on his neck whenever he’s in public. As insane as all that sounds, let’s break down that imagery a little because it’s actually really good! His babysitter is the king of beasts, a lion named Serosh, who digs his claws and his fangs into Hoarah Loux’s body to keep him suppressed and restrained enough in temperament to now be fit to be named Godfrey, The First Elden Lord of Queen Marika.
Serosh is frankly quite mysterious as far as what he actually is goes but as far as story themes go, he’s a really interesting symbol of lordship. The lion basically IS Godfrey’s crown, it’s what makes him Godfrey. The symbolism is essentially stating in a very overt way that this man is more savage than all the beasts of the world. In Elden Ring, beasts with five fingers indicate an enlightened or elevated intelligence, blessed by the greater will. It’s fascinating how it’s basically stating that Serosh is more intelligent, refined and noble than Hoarah Loux, that this man is more wild and savage than the greatest of all the beasts in the world. That only a beast king could teach this man to be a Lord. Godfrey can rip him apart anytime but he doesn’t. It takes more than strength of body to wear a crown and he knows it. He needs Serosh to honour and do right by Marika. He is showing his opponents a courtesy, as he puts it. Morgott takes after his example and so too is Radahn inspired by him. It’s really wonderful imagery.
There’s more to the symbolism. My knowledge of alchemy is, I completely admit, too surface level to elegantly speak at length but I’ve done some light reading online to back up my confidence in what I’m saying. We know Miyazaki loves dark edgy anime like Berserk and I posit that he also gained inspiration from the anime/manga Hellsing, in which the main character recites the line “I am the bird of Hermes, eating my own wings to make me tame.” This line comes from the Ripley Scroll and is theorized to have many meanings but popularly is presumed to mean giving up higher philosophy and knowledge to live normally on the earth as a human. Miyazaki uses lots of alchemical symbolism in his works, Elden Ring especially (go watch Quelaag’s videos!) so I could be totally full of shit about hellsing but I’m completely confident that Godfrey is meant to be an inversion (like literally everything else about his character) of what the Bird of Hermes represents. Godhood is a prison, a shackling. The entire plot is Marika (and Ranni tbh) trying to escape that imprisonment. Godfrey loves Marika enough to chain himself down, to eat his own wings, to pull out his own teeth and claws for her to make himself tame and ascend to lordship.
What’s especially fascinating about him is that he carries Serosh out into the badlands with him, as the opening cutscene shows. Cut dialogue indicates he already knew the Elden Ring would shatter and the tarnished would be beckoned to return. That Marika told him her plan in full before she took from him and his warriors the grace of gold and sent them away. A line from him saying to trust in gold, always, that it will guide our fates to our true destiny has wonderful implications I would certainly love to expand on in another post maybe. Hoarah Loux was just a human man and Marika trusted him enough to tell him everything. Trusted him with her gambit to escape the shackles of godhood. This is the fascinating part about taking Serosh with him. Keeping himself disciplined enough to remain a Lord when he returns. To hold back his aching heart just enough that he could follow through on this dark plan and allow his wife to protect him from the machinations of the greater will by sending him away. Also note that in that opening cutscene, he’s being crucified, with a lion about his shoulders and spear buried in his abdomen. They could not be milking the Jesus imagery harder if they tried. The Bird of Hermes is also thought to represent Christ, more points for that symbolism.
I love Godfrey so much as a character. He loved his sons and he loved his wife. The tenderness that he holds Morgott with is enough to make me cry. How he wished he could’ve seen him sooner, I’m all too sure. He’s the only other character we see guided by grace in the entire game. Marika guides you and her beloved husband, that’s it, that’s how much she trusts him. When he rips Serosh from his shoulders, you understand how Marika felt such faith in him. In Elden Ring, it is through battle that you face the true self of an opponent. Godfrey reveals to you Hoarah Loux, Warrior Chieftain of the Badlands. It is a test. Are you worthy to free her? Can you do what I could not? I have shown you courtesy enough as a Lord. You served me well, Serosh. I relieve you of your burden and feel only gratitude for your service. Now begins the test. Are you, tarnished, stronger than the only man who was strong enough to bear the burden of Lordship? Are you stronger than the only man that Queen Marika ever trusted? Are you stronger than the only man she ever loved?

Ooooh can you please do a Rhea Ripley x reader fic. Ever since Rhea has being out due to injury, reader has being getting close with Zelina Vega. On the night that Rhea returns, reader and Zelina are celebrating in the ring after winning a tag team match and Zelina ends up kissing reader. Cue Rhea's music playing and her making her return.
Shes mine
Rhea Ripley x reader
Tumblr media
When Rhea told you she was injured and had to take time of you where heartbroken,considering the main times you saw each other was when you had shows it meant you would see each other less.
And the fact she completely shut everyone out because she was so angry at herself for letting it happen.
Not wanting to go everywhere alone you started speaking more with Zelina,you guys had always been friends but since Rhea being out,you and Zelina had grown inseparable with triple H even putting you in a tag team with her.
That’s how you ended up here,in the middle of a ring trying to submit kairi sane with a rear naked choke,and before you even realise it the bell in ringing and your theme music is playing throughout the arena.
After you let go of Kairi Zelina jumps onto you,wrapping her arms around you as you both smile and cheer.Zelina suddenly moves closer to you and before you can stop her she smashes her lips into yours
Freezing for a second before you push her away and scramble to the other side of the ring
“z what the hell was that!” You scream at her but before you can answer-
THIS IS MY BRUTALITY
Rheas entrance music blasts through the speakers and both you and Zelina turn to the ramp seeing her storming to the ring,before anyone can react Zelina is picked up by rheas and throw into the turnbuckles,Rhea flailing her arms and screaming at Zelina so frantically you can’t make out anything she’s saying.
“Rhea” you shout but she doesn’t respond
“RHEA” this time she turns to look at you
“DID YOU SEE WHAT SHE JUST DID” Rhea looks at you,the fire of jealousy burning in her eyes
You get up and put your hands on her shoulders looking up at Rhea.
“She didn’t know Mami,no one did” you whisper to her before going up onto your tippy toes and smashing your lips into her,hands moving from her shoulders to cup her face and bring her closer before pulling away
“But now they do” you say smiling at her
Rhea smirks at you and brings your lips together again,fighting your second battle of the night with rheas tongue against yours until the referee from your match before forces the both of you out of the ring.
Very successful night with your win,rheas return and now your relationship revealed to the world.

I don’t know how I feel about this but hope it’s okay!!

Having re-watched Alien (1979) and Aliens (1985), I think I've realized what went wrong with the further expanded film universe on a thematic level (this is not accounting for AVP films, which seem to exist within their own continuity atm).
The main issue is that these films made 2 intertwining mistakes:
Making the Xenomorph too animalistic
Removing the mystery of space
For the first part, Alien and Aliens are quite vague about the Xenomorph mind. Alien treats it almost like a serial killer at times, including a particularly interesting moment where it disregards Jones the Cat entirely, despite making a very easy target, and how it will sometimes meander up to the crew as if it knows it's inflicting terror upon them. This Xenomorph even seems to only flee when Parker goes to kill it with a knife and hides within the evac shuttle when it realizes that Ripley was going there as well.
Aliens forgoes this in favor of showing how terrifying their numbers are even in the face of superior (if greatly mislead) fire power, but then pulls the rug under our protagonists by (seemingly) cutting the power and testing the endurance of the auto-turrets. While the drones are not individually as intelligent as the original xenomorph from the first film, this is instead given to the Queen, who understands not only the danger Ripley poses to her Hive but hostage negotiations of the most blunt variety. And, of course, incredible spite and vengeance when Ripley burns her eggs.
Basically, the two films do a good job of making you wonder... how sapient and sentient are the Xenomorphs? Do we take Ash's word and think of them as simply Hostile Weapons or do we see them for the adaptable and complex - if instinct guided - parasites just trying to protect their hive? This is further food for thought when we learn that one of the cut endings would have had the Xenomorph kill Ripley, tentatively use the shuttles control panel, and speak into the intercom with Dallas voice (ala Predator).
Imo, that goes too far into making them human, but we'll circle back to that later. The point is that the Xenomorph is never clearly one thing or another, but rather, something that constantly foils our attempts to understand them completely.
Aliens 3, Alien: Resurrection, Prometheus, and Alien: Covenant fail in that regard, because they take the firm stance that the Xenomorph is... an animal. A very, very, dangerous and hostile animal but an animal nonetheless. It's not some vague horror that we struggle to comprehend and reason with, because all the facts (as they are for now) are laid out: the Xenomorphs are weaponized animals that just kill, reproduce, and kill etc etc.
Nothing is entirely new about the Xenomorphs in these movies (beyond the forms and one part of Covenant, but we'll circle back to that as well), but rather trying to recapture the formula of Alien and Aliens. And even when the film isn't necessarily about the Xenomorphs like Prometheus, it still goes out of its way to copy the play by play of Alien to an almost hilarious degree (except, somehow, having a cast entirely of stupid scientists).
The Xenomorph is used as a toll for the films to talk more about the human threats who would use them, which is fine, except the same message of "Weyland-Yutani wants Xenomorphs, They Failed" over and over again (except I guess for Alien: Resurrection, but that had Walmart as a plot point so...) gets tedious. It's not longer about the folley of mankind, but rather this one company led by a man (or Android?) who keeps fucking up.
Ditto goes for the second part: removing the mystery from space. Alien and Aliens treat the Space Jockey and other (non-Xenomorph) alien life at an arms distance. They are large, grand, ominous, and vaguely defined. We don't know much about WY in either movie, nor how much is them knowing versus independent people within the company (Burke mentions cutting out his own bosses for profit for example, and Bishop the company Android is heroic and horrified at the situation they are all in, a big difference to Ash). The Xenomorphs having a Queen was a huge reveal, because we literally had no idea until then if those were actual eggs or simply pods artificially created.
Aliens 3 tries to add some mystery with the prison colony, but it's also hamfisted and given a lot of exposition to explain the situation they are in, but I will give it kudos for making Weyland (???) look like Bishop as a twist. Aliens: Resurrection... yeah, no.
Prometheus and Alien Covenant gave us a plethora of seeming mysteries, but also gives us really super simple answers. Basically, Space Jockeys are just super humans seeding life across the planets and they wanted to bomb Earth into oblivion because we killed Jesus Christ (who was a Space Jockey). And one of our androids then - possibly - goes to their home planet and bombs them to oblivion thus wiping out the human race. And they made Xenomorphs yadda yadda.
Prometheus in particular seems to despise the idea of space being a mystery, with the conversation David has with a scientist being plainly spelled out as the theme of the film: "Sometimes, humans/space jockeys just build shit, and it goes wrong I guess. No gods or mysteries here, just hubris."
Which, if handled well, is still a fascinating idea (I think it's a pretty interesting 'take-that' against the stupidity of Ancient Alien Conspiracy Theorists)... but it's not handled well. At all. And certainly doesn't work well when trying to write Xeno-Horror.
So, what COULD work?
Well, I think we need to look at how Alien and Aliens made the Xenomorphs, Space Jockey's, and Space itself all work.
For the xenomorphs, I think back to one scene I actually thought was interesting in Alien: Covenant; as a chestburster is born from a hapless scientist, it lays its eyes (???) on David and replicates his movements, mimicking the first living thing it witnesses. Nothing is ever done with this (of course), but think about the potential that could be used! Plenty of animals like crows, ravens, dolphins, octopi, killer whales etc etc can use mimicry in voices and actions, and that includes things like tool-use! And of course, the fact that they take on new forms from hosts helps with that.
For the Space Jockey's: scrap them. They had their time, the mystery is basically solved. Show us new and different alien civilizations long past. Were they also victims of the Xenomorphs? From some other threat entirely? Surely, there are extraterrestrial predators out there that don't follow the Xenomorph formula. Why not have them share the splotlight, with just as little explanation?
For space itself: stop with trying to recapture Alien and Aliens. Alien: Isolation is the only successor specifically because of the format of the medium. Alien and Aliens rely heavily on the shock factor of sudden reveals. Remove that, and you are given "bug hunt" games and movies ala discount Starship Trooper. Focus more on making human space feel almost alien and beyond our understanding as well, but just enough that we can recognize the purpose that we would have them for our society.
How I would write an Alien Story:
(This would all be backstory and setup for the actual story)
I would set it within a colony satellite with an explicit task: a skyscraper ecological time-capsule for deep space experimentation of wildlife.
It would have levels, with humans situated at the second uppermost and an AI as the manager at the top level of the satellite, with all the other animals in different levels fit for their habitats (including some non-earth, non-xenomorph aliens). It's a religious sponsored and run organization, offshoots of [Insert Church Here] that is trying to get good press with cutting edge AI and biological research.
The prize is an alien lifeform that looks like a cross between a crocodile and a panther. Usually docile when fed, it has been growing more and more agitated, harming several workers on the job. Most assume it may be some late-stage degenerative disease within it's brain.
Not all things are as it seems, as at the bottom of the station, a location no one but a select few faithful engineers are sent to maintain, a pod is damaged. A young attendant watches in shock and horror as a bloody and maimed chest burster crawls out of the pod, possibly having injured itself to burn through the lock. The creature is mewling in pain, but the young attendant makes a choice: leaving food, water, and blanket for the creature. Watching as the creature watches them, before going to feast. All under the gaze of a camera.
The xenomorph grows and grows, eating more, getting bolder and allowing its "caretaker" to feel more comfortable. Soon it begins to recognize certain sounds as they pray when he feasts, and association occurs. One day, its hiss sounds suspiciously like "Lord".
This is when the young attendant reaches out to higher, but trusted, priests to share this miraculous revelation. The first one is shocked, terrified, but intrigued as the creature mimics words like "Lord" and "Mighty". Barely audible, some would say hallucinatory, but they believe they can here this humanoid creature speak their language.
The second is equally shocked, terrified, but listens and becomes a believer.
The third one does not believe. Rightfully horrified and full of questions. Their arguments in front of the beast escalate into violence and when the young attendant shoves the priest to the ground, it is the Xenomorph that pounces. Blood is shed. the creature rises in front of it's faithful, and the Xenomorph uses the same sounds it heard over the fight. Lord. Mighty. Here-tik.
They can't be delusional or driven by guilt! This is a sign... right? This creature is speaking to them!
The faith grows. Never large. Can't risk word getting out or people noticing too many missing priests. The satellite is just barely large enough that people can excuse going missing for a few days between objectives.
But key individuals are brought in. The creature is worshiped. Animal offerings are delivered. It's changing, slowly. Growing larger (not a Xenomorph Queen, it's too maimed, but adapting to a steady diet).
Things might have escalated, had one of the priests killed not had an estranged sibling/spouse/loved one who had the pull to make a formal investigatory complaint.
The investigator arrives with his repertoire, this supposed garden of eden in deep space, none the wiser to what he would uncover. (Again, this would be the backstory, not revealed except through character investigations and evidence found during that. Defeats the purpose if it's spelled out like this).
It would play with the idea of how sapient/sentient the Xenomorphs are (do they care? do they understand? if not, why act like this? if yes, what does this mean for their continued slaughter), how much one puts into faith versus delusions, and leaves lingering questions: who put the xenomorph on the ship, why is the AI so complicit with the deaths and disappearances, and why is the one non-xenomorph alien acting so dangerously agitated despite being far away from the xenomorph's quarters?

Horror Movie Time with Sonic F/Os
General imagines for watching horror films with Sonic characters! What types they're into, what kind of movie watcher they are, etc. I originally wanted them to be able to be read as romantic or platonic, but eventually I just kinda went full romance.
Characters: Sonic, Shadow, Silver, Amy, Rouge, Omega
Spoiler warnings for Poltergeist and Alien, and a very minor spoiler warning for The Thing
Sonic:
Is more a fan of the 'campy' horror movies, although he'll also watch slashers - they get his blood pumping and his heart racing, and he lives for that. He doesn't like seeing you actually afraid, so he'll definitely take your tastes into account when picking a movie- if you say no to a specific thing, he'll tease you a bit but he'll pick something else.
Does NOT like supernatural horror. He will not watch ghost movies. He won't watch movies about doomsday scenarios. Basically, if he doesn't think he could fight it off in real life, it horrifies him and he can't stop thinking about it. What if that stuff happened to him? Happened to you? Haunts him for days or months afterwards. You made the mistake of watching The Thing with him, and for three weeks afterwards you had to talk him out of making you do the blood test every time you were apart for more than 5 hours.
He's fine with werewolf movies, for obvious reasons. Been there, done that, still tries to use his foot to scratch his ear sometimes.
All in all, he just wants to have fun with the movie, and with you. If you say 'tonight, we are watching a bunch of Disney Channel Original Scary Movies and eating our weight in popcorn,' he'll be just as happy as if you wanted to watch every Halloween movie.
Shadow:
Is a more all-around moviegoer, although since meeting you, he's found slashers are harder to watch. He can't help but think about you suffering through those scenarios, and ultimately dying.
Meanwhile, he loves sci-fi and supernatural horror. He's a product of science, he knows what it can do, so he can completely relax when watching movies like Alien.
In fact, and he'd never tell you this, he likes that one a LOT more after meeting you. He can easily see you in Ripley's place- resourceful, smart, trying to keep everyone alive. Going back for Jonesy seems like something you would do. He likes imagining you, triumphant, coming home to him.
Shadow likes it a LOT when you cling tightly to him- you can grab his arm as hard as you want, you can squeeze him like you're a boa constrictor, whatever. It doesn't hurt him, he's the Ultimate Lifeform! He likes the physical contact that he doesn't have to ask for, but he also very much enjoys knowing he makes you feel safe.
You should definitely expect him to start appraising the movie afterwards- he doesn't actually care, but he wants to talk to you and he's not great at conversations without a set topic. Please indulge him.
Silver:
is kind of a weenie and and doesn't really like actually scary movies all that much. He's been through enough, thank you. He's much more of a children's Halloween movie guy- your Mostly Ghostlys, your Scary Godmothers, your Cry Baby Lanes. Basically, nothing scarier than Tremors.
If you do make him watch a horror film, he's shaking in the first five minutes, and once bodies start piling up he's crying into your shirt.
There is one exception.
He loves Tobe Hooper's Poltergeist. Everything about it speaks to him, and he loves sharing it with you. He'll hold your hand whenever Steve and Diane are supporting each other, and he'll pull you into his chest and hold you during the scary parts. Afterwards, he'll tell you about how he hopes you two can be together like that someday- how he'll never abandon you when things get tough, and how he knows you'll stick by him, too.
He likes it because throughout all the horrible things, everyone is looking out for each other. He loves that everyone lives. And if you like the movie, too? He's the happiest hedgehog that ever lived.
Rouge:
Is a big fan of slashers- the gorier the better! She's the kind to cheer when some idiot gets murdered. But she also much prefers watching them at home, with you. She wants her head in your lap, taking sips of red wine in between mouthfuls of heart-stoppingly buttery popcorn, just having a great time with you.
But, and you won't find this out on the first date, she's also a huge film buff and adores the cult classics. If you so much as mention cult horror, she'll start trying to get you to watch her Criterion Collection DVD of Hausu, and wants to discuss the finer points of horror.
And she is trusting you not to spoil her reputation by telling anybody else about this. Especially you shouldn't tell anybody that she LOVES Them!
She also really likes horror films with a romantic bent, and she keeps saying that she'll tease you during them but honestly when the time comes her eyes are glued to the goddamn screen... it's the perfect time to slip your hands into hers.
Amy:
Likes two kinds of horror moves. She loves psychological horror- it keeps her guessing, keeps her engaged. When you watch with her, she likes to voice her theories out loud, and loves to hear your thoughts on it!
In the same vein, she also likes cult classics- her favourite is the 1962 film Carnival of Souls. Expect a lengthy discussion every time you guys watch a more 'cerebral' film- she really does like to hear how you felt about it! It helps her feel like she can see into your world a bit better.
But on days where she doesn't have that much brainpower to spare, she really enjoys a good horror/comedy. Her go-to is the Three Flavour Cornetto trilogy, but honestly she's not that picky. You guys watched Werewolves Within together and about died laughing. The genre is basically the mental equivalent of icecream to her.
Whatever you two watch, you are smushed up together in one corner of the couch. Doesn't matter who's in front and who's behind, one of you has your head in the crook of the neck of the other.
123-Omega:
He also like slashers, and he's kind of unbearable to watch 'em with. Every time anybody dies, he either says 'That would not have happened to me' or 'I would not let that happen to you.'
It's kind of cute, but once you're an hour and seven deaths deep, it can get a bit annoying. That said, you appreciate him for who he is, so you knew this was a bit inevitable and you love him anyway.
Once you asked him what he would do to protect you from 'unkillable' slashers like Michael Meyers, and after a second of thinking, he picked you up, took you out to the gun range, put you down behind him, and proceeded to absolutely obliterate everything in front of him one long, sustained round of heavy fire. Probably used up at least $6k of artillery. He then turned back to you and stated 'Michael Meyers could not survive being turned into a fine mist'
You were still in your jammies, and you couldn't help but laugh so hard you fell over. God bless your loving sentry turret.
~~~
Hope you all enjoyed! These were fun to write for, and I'd definitely be willing to do more for other characters if requested!
uh. nothing is neurotypical about this post <3
[Word Count, for everyone's reference because we all know my habits - 1,526]
The framing of Icarus’ shots. The framing of all of the shots but we're starting at the beginning and *mmmm* the framing of Icarus’. Them being front and center, the light being purple, their wings being out and *big*, their desk being behind them, *their scars.* The way you can *see* Icarus’ lightning scars but it is so much harder to notice with all of their things (makes sense why no one really noticed them.) Just the entire way they act during their segments. *mmmm*
Icarus having the lines about having friends on the other side makes me go bonkers - because they *do.* the whole bit is at the end of Fable, they had Midas on their side - they had *the person in the Worldport*, the person *on the other side*, on *their* side.
Midas having “I find delight in the gruesome and grim” like. Something about how despite the fact they're decaying and their realm is falling apart and their family is dead - they can still find time to mess with Icarus and fuck around and have *hope* that Icarus will make the right choice and. *mmmm.*
Cedar having the line about putting a spell on [someone] makes me giggle - potion lad makes potions and *literally* puts spells and things on people. (Also Cedar's freckles??? I love them??? I hold them so gently??? They look so pretty in this shot, I love this so much-)
Caine having the “be prepared” line is so. Mans fights *so much* and does so many things that involve fighting - it almost feels like a taunt? you know, telling their opponent to be prepared for [the future] or something. (This does immediately follow Icarus saying how he can read [someones] future.)
Sherwood has the line about “trusting [them]” they're a pirate lad and they cause *trouble* and well, if you've just arrived somewhere or you're trying to convince someone - only makes sense you'd ask them to trust you.
Ripley has the poor unfortunate souls line and rah rah rah - they are a ghost and they're silly and I love them and. They are a soul <3
Helix's part is wonderful - because like. something about just how the game of among us works and how you *should be* scared and worried and on your toes - also importer Helix <3
Ajax Ajax Ajax Ajax - look at them and their silly area and *mmmm.* Their *introduction* being “beware take care he rides alone” hurts me personally because that's what Ajax has always intended to do; ride alone. They planned not to make attachments - but they still *did.* And then the lines they speak being "this vampire bat, this inhuman beast, he ought to be locked up and never released" is so. Something about hurting people over and over and over again throughout the events and something about becoming someone everyone fears and wants dead and something about the *box,* and the needing to be inside during storms, and being *trapped* underground for a whole season.
Oh Ripley. “He swears to the longest day he's dead.” Yeah cause they are. Blorbo is dead. They are g h o s t. ghost guy. They're dead. They died. Of course they'd swear they're dead-
Ashril ashril ashril - not being normal about any of ashril's parts. “The world was such a wholesome place until..” guys guys we know ashril *did something* and it was a mistake and they had to run and *mmmmm.* It was good, they were living, they had a family and a life, *until they did **that*** and then they didn't anymore and.
Sherbert's “He had a plan to shake things up, and that's the gospel truth” This line is really ambiguous, but the thing that most immediately comes to mind is Sherbert's letter they write to Icarus, and leave in the stream room. Trying to stop Ic and get them back on the right path. (Also can i just say Sherbert looks so pretty in this shot??? Like they look pretty in all the shots really but the outside shots *especially*)
Reo having the lines about hellfire and their being fire in them - fighting boy goes and does fighting things and is okay with it and likes doing it and. Something about adrenaline or something.
Rina. oh the lyrics on Rina's part. "Yes it is he, but not as you know him. Read my lips, and come to grips with reality” while their eye is bleeding *and* while they're gesturing at the computer - which, might I add, has Icarus on it (doing the other parts of the song), and while they are wearing the same hoodie as Reo. Something about how once their eye started bleeding they had to come to terms with the idea that oh shit, all of this is *real* - This thing that *I made* is so very real. And, I guess if you really wanted to look at the first part of that - the idea that the first time their eye was bleeding was because Icarus was there. “Him” being Icarus, but obviously he wasn't in their body, he was in Rina's and. Yeah. Very normal about this part. (Also the way its framed???? Guys it's such a pretty shot??? And the way they spin the goggles???? Biting it nothing on it eating it whole /pos)
Icarus having the lines about changing, and how they're doing it??? Sobbing. Something about how Icarus is always changing and always going through something and it's never been completely *them* and-
Krit krit - they're just a little lad <3 They have the crab from Moana's part and I hold that so gently. I don't have thoughts about Krit's part they're just happy and they are crab and them <333 guys I love krit so much I cry about them so often /pos
Cedar has love is an open door and I. They are in love with the herb lady. They love Azalea. They have a *very big* crush on her - and they also have no rizz - I love them for that <3
Guys it's Ashril again. Guys it's ashril again and I'm trying so hard to be normal but oh my gosh Ashril having the line “But they guzzle up the things you prize” is so. Guys Ashril is running from something and it's not pretty and they've been *hurt* before (gestures at the scar that I think so much about often)
Icarixis having “I hope you're satisfied” guys *Icarixis having I hope you're satisfied.* Because this is what they've worked for for months and years - to be able to fix everything and to be able to make it all work out in the end and. *mmmm* “But if you ain't, don't blame me.” Something about how they'd blame Midas - the Quixis before them, or something.
Okay three people have the “Don't forget it” line - in order being Sherbert, Ripley, Ashril. Something about how all three of them have something they so desperately want to remember. Sherbert in a time where they could die freely and weren't confined to a world. Ripley of a time when they were alive. And Ashril of, well, their brother.
And then Helix gets the “You'll regret it” because imposter and murder and Among Us things - they're simply just a guy /pos
the next few lines are all them commenting on the land and things - which feel pretty self explanatory. I will say oh my gosh the Reo cosplay gives me so much gender envy and for what. Sherbert you look so ahhhhh /pos
Caine having “As a specimen yes I'm intimidating” because of course they do - they're a fighter boy who got strength but also they have Asshole Rizz[™] hence the specimen comment, or something. Caine is simply silly goofy-
Sherbert's part Sherbert's part *Sherbert's part* - “You got what you wanted - but you lost what you had!” Cen refer to both Icarus and Sherbert; but Sherbert *specifically* for the moment. Just - they got want they wanted, Sherb. Their world was back to normal and no longer decaying and sure they had to fix the wack but it's not longer spreading - but also they can't immediately go back to what they had. They can't go back to the infinite dying - they lost that. They may have gotten what they wanted with Icarus, Quixis - but they still lost *so much.* And then Icarus shush-ing them??? silly guys doing silly things-
(And the Icarus idea of this line, if you see it as Sherb telling it to Ic, or whatever else you can see it as - they got what they wanted, being able to fix it all and make up for everything they did; but they lost their family and their life and *themself* in the process. They can't get it back.)
Yeah, anyway. There's you CMV thoughts - definitely just a love letter to my love of all the sherbs and sherbs cmvs and their editing and *everything.* I love this cmv so much and I have very many thoughts and oh my gosh a couple of those frames my artist brain *really* wants to draw because they're so pretty-
Sherbert if you're reading this, you're really cool <3
(You scared me ) RHEA RIPLEY X JEY USO
Chapter 2
___________________________________________________________
Rhea closed the bathroom door behind her.
She turned on the shower on the highest setting.
She took off her clothes and got in the hot water. hit her skin.
She tried not to think about the fact that she was sharing a room with Jey.
The thought of sharing a room with Jey
gave her butterflies just looking at him. gave her butterflies when he touched her,
even if it was just a hand on her shoulder, or when he helped her up
when he looked her in the eyes. She wanted to look away, but she couldn’t
just think about Jey made her skin hotter than the water that was hitting it.
That was all she could think about her whole shower.
After a while, she turned the water off and grabbed a towel to dry off.
She put on her clothes, a band tee, and some black sweatpants.
She walked out of the bathroom to find Jey sitting on the edge of the bed watching TV.
He looked at her, looking her up and down
before he stood up, going over to his suitcase, and getting some clothes out.
Rhea slowly sat down on the bed. Her leg still hurt after what Liv did. She let out a hiss as she sat,
which got Jey’s attention. He turned around to look at her. You ok?
Yeah, it’s just my leg; it still kind of hurts, she says as she rubs her leg.
Jey stood up and walked over to her, may I?
He says, looking down at her leg, Um, i mean, yeah, just be careful.
Ok, tell me if it's too much. As Jey said, he kneeled down
to be level with her leg. He looked at her, asking for permission.
Rhea nodded her head. Jey rolled up her pants leg.
The cold air hit her leg, still a little wet. Jey slowly touches her leg.
Rhea sucked in a breath. Jay stopped and looked up at her. I can stop,
he said with concern in his voice. No, it’s ok; your hands are just cold.
Jay let out a chucker and continued; his hand wasn’t cold at all;
his hand was hot on her skin. He started at her calf
every time he moved his hand. Her heart skipped a beat.
He started to move his hand up, looking up at Rhea to check.
Rhea gave him another nod. Rhea couldn’t speak;
there was a lump in her throat. She leaned her head back a little bit.
Jay started to move his hands up to her thigh.
She leaned her head back up. You ok? Jay asked
Yea, but don’t you need to still take a shower? She asked,
Oh yeah, I forgot. Jey says as he stands up and grabs his clothes off the bed
and walks towards the bathroom.
As soon as she heard the door shut,
she fell back on the bed, letting out a quiet fuck,
bringing her hands to her face,
and letting out a loud sigh just sitting in her thoughts
for a minute before grabbing the remote
to find something to watch to get
her mind off what just happened
____________________________________________________________
Jey won his first single championship! And dom gonna be in a cage above the ring at bad blood!
Sorry if I missed spelled anything I hope you like this chapter 🖤
The following is based on @domripley ‘s Left To Face This Alone, an abusive!Rhea Ripley x reader fic. However, this particular fic will revolve around interactions between the reader and Damian’s girlfriend, another woman being abused by her partner.
I would like to present: Left To Face This Together. Let me know if you would like to be added to the tag list!
Warnings for this section: Abuse/domestic violence mention, bruising, dissociation
Left To Face This Alone Together (Part 1 of ?): Damsels In Distress
It wasn’t often that Rhea and Damian were feeling merciful or ambivalent enough to leave the women they had claimed as theirs home alone. The Terror Twins didn’t quite trust that either of you wouldn’t try to start your own small rebellion. Yet, here the two of you were, left alone… together.
You suspected they considered the two of you too weak to try leaving, as your respective partners had roughed both of you up a bit worse than usual before going to do the same to whichever faction they were fighting this week.
Sitting in Rhea’s living room, the two of you were silent for a few minutes. Your muscles ached as much from tensing them out of fear as they did from the blows that had left you bruised. Damian’s girlfriend stared off into the distance as if she was somewhere else, sat on the ground right where Damian had shoved her down - his preferred way of saying goodbye. The woman’s long, dark brown hair covered some of her face, but not enough to hide the tears that occasionally rolled down her cheeks. The leather collar around her neck had a small, heart-shaped lock on the front and it seemed like every time you looked at her, you noticed another bruise or cut. While the paranoid part of your mind told you to be wary, there was something about the woman that made her feel like a kindred spirit.
“S-so… um,” you finally gathered the courage to speak, wanting nothing more than to ignore the pain that plagued you, “What’s your name? …I’ve never heard either one of them say it.”
Being spoken to looked distressing for her, eyes refusing to meet yours as she seemed to shrink in on herself slightly.
“… Lucia,“ she whispered, looking for the first time like she was present, “He never calls me that, though.”
Neither one of you wanted mention your captors by name.
Rather than address this fact, you introduced yourself.
She gave a small hum of acknowledgement.
“How long do you think we have?” you asked, thinking aloud, “Until they get back?”
Lucia gave a silent shrug as she seemed to start drifting away again. A panic rose in you; you didn’t want lose this chance at a connection with someone who might understand.
“How do you-“ your words ran into each other until your voice faltered suddenly, so you began again, relieved when she seemed to be waiting for you to continue, “How do you… distract yourself? Y’know, from” - you sighed, thinking of your own situation as well - “everything?”
“…It’s stupid,” she mumbled, barely audible.
“Please?” the emotion in your voice made her look you in the eyes for the first time, realizing you were the one needing a distraction.
“… I make up stories,” she admitted, looking away again, embarrassed.
“Do you want to make one up now?” you asked, desperate.
She studied you briefly before giving a reluctant nod.
“Can you start it?” you immediately felt like this was asking too much, so you quickly added, “And I’ll keep it going.”
Lucia seemed hesitant, but began anyway.
“Once upon a time…” she said, the shyness in her voice dissipating as a small spark ignited behind her deep brown eyes, “There was an adventurer. She roamed the land with her brother, meeting new people and exploring new places.”
She became more animated, despite the sadness that seemed to weigh heavily in her words.
“Until! She was captured by a dragon,” Lucia slowly unfurled herself from the defensive position she had been in, “Her brother was fascinated by the creatures, so she joined him in a quest to learn more. But! The dragon decided to keep her and she was imprisoned in a dark, cold cell. Then, in the darkness, she heard a sound and realized there was someone else being held there too.”
“The other prisoner was… a knight,” you continued, allowing your imagination to rewrite your experiences in this fictional world, “She had been taken weeks earlier by another dragon from the same nest… and even though her armor was thick, she was badly wounded. The dragon that left her there came back to attack the knight every day, without fail.”
A look of complete understanding crossed Lucia’s face and she let herself stretch out her legs as you decided to join her on the floor. She continued the story:
“Noticing the knight’s wound, the adventurer took a healing salve and a bandage from her kit, and helped the knight.”
The next line comes to you without a second thought:
“‘Save your remedies for yourself,’ the knight told her, ‘I am too far gone and you’ll need to keep up your strength if you have a chance of escaping.’”
You watched as an idea appeared to form in Lucia’s mind, fear making her voice tremble, but a steadfast determination in her eyes as she said the last thing you expected:
“The adventurer shook her head, saying ‘You’ve been here long enough to notice the dragons’ habits and weaknesses. I have the research notes my brother and I gathered from stories about them. If we combine what I know and what you know of these dragons, we just might be able to escape them together.’”
I made him last year. He’s one of the first things I drew on procreate. All my friends know him and I also made stickers
so big on “augh” and “ough” that i completely forgot about the existence of “eugh.” it’s like a whole other world has been opened up to me. Eugh
