They remembered this is a horror show and clocked the fuck in.

This episode was insane, are they crazy? Some people were complaining that it was a filler episode, but who cares? It was perfectly written. No men and Jackie.

Van's cancer is basically gone. They assumed that it was because of the people they sacrificed and Tai immediately picked up the candle to call the wilderness. So they have an interesting plot ahead of them. I'm scared Tai is going to start killing people to keep Van alive.

I'm also scared that the one calling the wilderness was another Tai, and we don't know when the real Tai is on screen. They are cute tho.

I wish we could see Misty and Shauna together in every episode. They are so funny. Also, I love that Shauna doesn't play about her minivan.

Lottie needs to back up a bit, actually. I did suspect her not having a place to stay was a lie, but what does she want with Shauna? Why is she using Callie to get to Shauna? That's a crazy way to get Shauna into anything. Leave Shauna's kids alone

The necklace means Callie is the next sacrifice in Shauna's mind. I assumed that's why Lottie said "I never meant what you thought it meant".

Melanie's acting when she saw Jackie's necklace on Callie, that's an emmy worthy performance. The tears, the "Get the fuck out of my house" the way she looked at Callie after. Now Callie knows the meaning of "We are all scared of your mom". Wilderness Shauna was about to come out and beat the hell out of Lottie, again.

That opening with Mari and Ben was hilarious. I'm sorry but how can you want Mari to be pit girl?

Some people were dragging my girl Shauna for being angry and mean last episode, just for her to be the pookiest character in this one. That conversation with Melissa was the best. She doesn't know how to act so she acts all tough, and she probably feels lonely. My babygirl.

She can't even mourn her best friend and son in peace, bc Lottie's cult mentality doesn't leave her alone.

Melissa had to take one for the team.

No doubt she is a dork. Getting little braids to go to talk to Shauna, girl she would rip them off if you give her a reason. But she risked all and now she is about to be with this beautiful brown eye girl.

The hallucination sequences were amazing, and I find it interesting that they picked Akilah and no one of the regular girls. She is probably screwed for eating those berries.

Van and fire, always connected.

Shauna seeing her son throw me a bit ngl. Of course, she is mourning but I've never seen Shauna that maternal. Or maybe because I've always assumed Shauna's biggest loss in the wilderness was Jackie's death.

I want to thank Ella because she has like 10 projects going on at the same time, but she found time to give us Cunty Jackie hallucination.

The way I gasped when I saw that 9 on my screen. My beautiful girl came back to punish Shauna for kissing another girl. I can't believe Shauna wasn't crashing out at the sight of Jackie. Well, this version of Jackie anyway.

I love the theory that Akilah didn't get a scratch because she hasn't done anything wrong, Van got a deep cut but nothing serious, but Shauna almost died because of what she has done in there.

But what really got me in that scene was Lottie saying "Akilah save her or she'll die. We'll all die" I said before that I believe Shauna was the antler queen because she's the one who gave them permission to eat Jackie and save them from starvation. She'd be the one who kept them alive because she's ruthless and loves them deeply even if she hates them.

Alright y’all, I caved. Meet Ursula, my Yellowjackets OC. She’s the resident goth girl on the team, and actual practicing witch. Basically, me as a teen but punched up to the max. Her favorite film is definitely the Craft, and she has many criticisms on 90’s Hollywood’s portrayals of magic (no, we’re not all Wiccans and Vegans 🙄). She’s also a talented artist who loves graphic novels and manga, and hopes to one day make her own series (which will become her downfall later). She only did soccer as punishment from her parents, who hoped it would “snap some sense into her” and make her “goth phase” a short-lived one. Joke’s on them though, because now she’s more angry bitter and disillusioned than ever, plus gained a healthy outlet for her rage as center forward. And now, after spending a year lost in the wilderness with her teammates, that rage has only honed itself into a finely-tuned feral machine.

She wasn’t always so aggressive tho- at least, not to the undeserving. She actually bonded with Nat first, way back when she started on JV. The two had an instant camaraderie as the outcasts of the team, and cool older girl Nat was sort of a role model for baby Ursula. When they snuck away from practice one day to go smoke behind the bleachers, that was when Nat actually discovered Ursula never liked to partake in drugs or drinking, and would always fake it to “seem cool” to the other edgy kids. Ursula had never confided that in anyone else before, and Nat actually had mad respect for the fake-smoking trick Ursula used to fool the onlookers. Nat promised never to tell anyone her secret, and from then on, the two were real friends as well as teammates. The rest of the girls took some time to wam up to her though, since Ursula definitely played up the “scary goth witch” mask when around them. Didn’t help that she was built like a tank too, and taller than most girls on the team, which added more to the “don’t fuck with me” attitude she already projects. This came in useful for their winning streak, but meant that most didn’t really know how to act around her off the field. Once stranded in the wilderness though, that all changed. She was one of the first to take to the gore as a necessity of survival. Once Misty chopped off Coach’s leg, the switch flipped inside to “emergency calm mode” and she used that tank-like strength to help get as many people off the plane and away from danger as possible. Maybe she even was the one who got Van out of that seat, just ripping the seatbelt off by the hinges and carrying her away to safety (listen- it’s my sapphic OC, let me have my one moment with Van pls 😅). Regardless, it was the first time the team wasn’t outright scared of her raw intensity, and saw that underneath all the rage and angst, was a genuinely caring person who would do anything for her team’s survival. But that doesn’t mean she’s without her flaws. And like Lottie, she already could see the value in the supernatural, and had a connection to the other forces at work even before they touched down in the forest. Her first instinct on finding the abandoned cabin would also be “fuck no, this place is deffo cursed, we can’t stay here”, and probably would’ve even had a standoff fight with them about finding some other type of shelter before being out-voted. Finding the skeleton in the attic wouldn’t help matters either, and I think she’d be the first to try to cleanse the space with some sort of smudging or spell work. She would’ve 10000% mediated that terrible seance of Jackie’s too, making it either better or worse because of the validity her witchcraft would’ve added to it. She wouldn’t have just followed Lottie’s cult, I think she would’ve added to it as a co-leader. Or some sort of magic consultant at least. I think the two would’ve bonded over the unseen that they could both feel, and maybe argued about the nature of it, but would’ve for sure still taken it seriously the same way. I know my girl wouldn’t have left home without bringing her candles, crystals, and tarot cards with her, so there would’ve been those lovely additions to the rituals as well. Maybe Nat tries to reason with Ursula more as a conduit to Lottie, begging her to talk some sense into her when things go too far, but by that point, the magical evidence would outweigh other logic for Ursula, and I could see it being one of their first major fights as friends. 😥

Pluuuuus… she would haaate Travis. Sorry y’all. The man is still exactly the type of toxic asshat that I personally hated as a teen, and the fact that he treats her bff Nat so bad for the whole first season would’ve made him #1 on her shit list. I think she definitely would’ve hexed him, and she probably would’ve encouraged his sacrifice during their doom-coming incident. Maybe would’ve even been the one with a knife to his throat instead of Shauna. However… I don’t think she would’ve blamed Jackie. I think she would be against the slut-shaming aspect of it, and also still see that as Travis’ mistake, since he had an obligation to Nat if he really loves her. Jackie as the other woman is just sort of a non-crime, especially since Nat even agreed it’s not Jackie’s fault, so I think she might’ve weighed in on her defense with that. (not that it would’ve changed much lol) There’s so many more parts to go through and add her into, but the most important one really is what happens way later, in their adult life. After being rescued, all the women go into a sort of hiding period, where they all integrate back into society and kind of lay low in their secrecy pact. At first, Ursula is 100% fine with that, wants nothing to do with them, even if it pains her to not talk to Natalie sometimes- but the way she’s gone down into her multiple binges and drug spirals makes it hard to contact her anyway. And Misty would’ve been ecstatic for the company, no doubt, but as much as she’s amused by that little freak, she’s too aware of what a close relationship with Misty Quigley would turn into (and she’s pretty sure Misty would only get close to her so she could crush on Nat by proxy). So. The only thing to try to do really is move on…. and channel everything into her art. At first it’s all abstracted and darker pieces- one off paintings or beginnings of comics that don’t go anywhere- not because she can’t finish them, but because it would be revealing too much of the truth on paper, something she still keeps her promises about. That is, until one day about a decade later, when she gets the idea for a fictional graphic novel that can disguise the truth by using another popular supernatural trope: Vampires. The same bloodshed, human feeding, and feral behavior can easily be translated into a vampire comic, while still using traits from her teammates in the other characters. She knows it’s risky, but dammit, it’s been about a decade now… and the weight of it all has been eating at her like it does all of them, to the point where she just /has/ to create something about it. If only to get it out of her own body. She even puts it under an alias just to be extra safe, but naturally, the comic becomes a big hit and the real author is uncovered, as well as all the speculations that come with it.

She publicly insists it’s just a fictional story, based on nothing but imagination, but fan-theories and deep dives circulate, the internet making comparisons to the hinted at clues, and pairing the characters with their irl counterparts a little too accurately. And honestly, she’d be lying if she said deep, deep, deeeep down she wasn’t a little bit hoping for them to put the pieces together. She sees this portrayal as sort of a lasting tribute to their fallen teammates- since the truth of their demise could never go public, at least in this way she could honor their memory. Of course this all reaches the attention of the survivors, and I feel it would be a nice additional drama to Tai’s career as a senator, or even as a replacement for that arc. Anyway if you’ve read this far, congrats and my many thanks. I’m still thinking up stuff for this girl- maybe enough to even write a fic, who knows? But I’m having fun for now.

THE TAG SCENE IN EPISODE ONE QUICKLY MADE ITS WAY UP TO ONE OF MY FAVORITE SEQUENCES OF THE SHOW (LOTTIE SEEING LAURA LEES GHOST IN THE MALL STILL AT #1 THO)

the scene right after that where everyone is just having a good time is so cutesy and i adored it, it was so nice to see them all so happy because i knew they're gonna get into some fuck shit this season

My personal ranking of the Yellowjackets characters

(Warning: s3 spoilers ahead)

Shauna- my beautiful baby girl with a disorder. Yes she’s crazy and sadistic and self destructive/destructive in general but I love her sm idc. Me and Melissa are twins fr

Taissa- she’s so fiercely loving and loyal to those that she holds close, but sometimes her edges are just a bit too sharp but ughhhh I love <3333 her sm for it! Especially her relationship with Shauna during her pregnancy era (secret taishauna shipper)

Travis- this may be controversial to some to have Trav be so high up on the list but I love trav 🥺 he’s so baby girl (to me) he’s actually one of the softest ones in the group imo and the wilderness keeps on taking from him and tormenting him anyways (and I hc Travis as a transfem character, but that’s for another post)

Jackie- never has there been a better haunter of the narrative.

Natalie- she has never done anything wrong ever and I live in delusion that she went on to have a happy safe life with her wife Travis after they were rescued! No but fr they need to let my bbg catch a break, it’s been so hard to watch her struggle in the role as new queen and having some of the other yj’s rejecting her especially knowing her fate in the adult timeline. She deserves to be loved and protected 4ever 🥺

Akilah- my fave side yj character <333 she’s so sweet and I just get so happy when I see her getting some screen time. But omg this last ep has me scared with all the extra time they spent on her and the berries?!!?!!!! AKILAHHH NOOOO!!! DONT GO TOWARDS THE LIGHT 😭😭😭

Van- my little toasty marshmallow 🥰 lol but fr I love her, her witty comments offer such good tension relief in this crazy ass show, but my favorite version of van is when she’s being a little bitchy tbh (looking at you s1 van), she’s such a chill laid back character but I love seeing her get riled up enough to bring the claws out.

Coach Ben- my poor Benny boy just wants to be left alone but these psycho teenage girls just won’t let him catch a break 😫 I love that canonically multiple of the yj girls had crushes on him lmaoo I fear that would’ve been me too tho 🤭 ugh but even after experiencing and witnessing the horrors he’s still so kind and good hearted (letting Mari go, saving Shauna, akilah, and van from the fumes while they are actively hunting him) and I fear it’s about to be him demise. It seems the wilderness def has a taste for innocence

Mari- she’s a brat, a diva, a hater, a bitch, but she’s 100% real at all times and honestly I find myself admiring her for it. Especially this last episode with her singing little songs while being held hostage, and having no shame in her flirting game lmaoo she’s really growing on me. Although I’m a bit mad at her for not thinking of a better lie while she was making her way back to the girls (rip coach Ben 😔)

Javi- omg my poor baby boy 😭💔 he did nawtttt deserve his fate, but again the wilderness does seem to have a taste for innocence

Misty- her intentions are good most of the times but my god is this girl a disaster. I hate to see her getting bullied/dismissed/used by the other girls, but then she does some crazy outrageous misty bs that I want to reach through the screen and strangle her myself 🤦‍♀️ misty, the most girl of all time

Crystal- my poor little canary 😔 she just wanted to sing her songs and put on little plays in the middle of the woods 💔 but can I be totally honest guys? In this a safe space? I’m still not completely convinced that she was real 👀🫢 especially with this new info about the gas, and she wasn’t mentioned during the mourning ceremony/festival! Idc I’m holding onto this theory with my life

Lottie- up until s3 I was pretty neutral on Lottie, I do think she had pretty pure intentions when she first started the whole wilderness religion thing and she just wanted to give the girls something to believe and hope in that’s bigger than themselves (although I was never a fan of how she would overstep Shauna’s boundaries while she was pregnant) but this season with her coercing Travis to try and connect with it and forcing him into these panic attacks and then putting THAT necklace on Callie??? She’s staring to pmo ngl, Shauna would’ve been completely justified in beating Lottie’s ass a second time for that imo.

I really like Confusious’s character growth, he’s not into technology to find praise and company. He’s friends with Abe and JFK and him and Joan dating seems….healthy? Tho I do wish Joan stay single, 2 out of 3 seasons she’s been dating someone and it would be cool to see her be herself and do things she likes to do.
