Publisher IzanagiGames and developer G.rev have delayed escape adventure and shoot ’em up game Yurukill: The Calumniation Games from its previously planned 2021 release window to spring 2022, as well as launched the official website. It will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam.

The game is based on an original story by Homura Kawamoto (known for Kakegurui: Compulsive Gambler), and features a scenario written by his younger brother Hikaru Muno. Character design is handled by Hiro Kiyohara (Valkyria Revolution), and the soundtrack is by Yuko Komiyama (Monster Hunter series).

Sengoku Shunju wakes up in his prison cell.

A woman wearing a fox mask introduces herself as Binko, and says: “Sengoku Shunju, you are a criminal sentenced to years in prison, you’ve been offered the chance to gain your freedom.

You must survive the various ‘attractions’ in a certain ‘amusement park.’ If you succeed, your crimes will be pardoned.”

“No, you’ve got it all wrong, I’ve been falsely accused! I’m innocent!” The victim of one of his alleged crimes appears. Her name is Rina Azami.

“Sengoku Shunju. A name I will never forget. You killed my entire family. For that, I will never forgive you.”

Sengoku is in prison, charged with arson and murder—for burning to death 21 people, including Rina’s family.

Naturally, the victim does not believe a word of Sengoku’s claims of innocence.

Besides Sengoku are four other groups of criminals and their respective victims.

The accused criminals are called “Prisoners,” and the victims “Executioners.” Criminals and victims must pair up to face the amusement park’s attractions.

There are a total of six criminals and five victims. There are five teams: Mass Murderers, Death Dealing Duo, Crafty Killers, Sly Stalkers, and Peeping Toms.

The Prisoners hope to overcome the challenges so that they may be pardoned.

Should the Executioners win, their wishes will be granted. At long last they will be able to avenge their loved ones.

The challenges take place in a secluded amusement park called “Yurukill Land.”

All manner of secrets will be unearthed as the teams face each attraction.

Who will survive the cruel, twisted place that is Yurukill Land?

I agree with your latest salt posts. You’ve always been one of my favorite blogs because we share a lot of the same opinions. Personally I think souma wanting erina to say his food is delicious is kind of a underwhelming goal since she’s always loved his food but is just stubborn about admitting it. At least with Mana and Azami she genuinely did not like his food at first. I guess that’s fine for a romance subplot but it’s disappointing that souma vs jou is being shafted in favor of this.

I am just glad that you got what my first salt-post was about ;w; Quite some people only saw it like I was snapping at So//rina by saying that I don’t think the “delicious” was a very impactful end goal to begin with.

Of course it was a goal and yes, it was also a goal I looked forward to. It was a goal that had build-up and of course, naturally, you would except pay-off to all this build-up as reader.

However, Jouichiro vs. Soma also had a lot of build up and was the first goal being set with the beginning of the series. So I am….expecting a pay-off to that as well. And before the mistake and sin that Asahi is walked in, Joichiro was made out as a true obstacle clearly presented as someone not easy to defeat (you know back when Tsukuda kinda knew what he was doing)

Erina admitting Soma’s food…..You know, the first time she was shown eating his food it looked like this:

It was very evident that she liked it. It’s just that she refused to admit it. That’s why I called it “not impactful”, because I don’t deem it really impactful for the grand finale of the manga, when something else was builded up which also was portrayed as a bit more challenging, since the “Delicious” is much more about Erina’s stubbornness as you said.

I assume the “Delicious” will lead to the “Find yourself a woman that you want to devote all your cooking to”. Now, initially Joichiro’s words of wisdom that Soma missed were also meant to tell him that he has to find his love in order to defeat him basically. 

So doesn’t that kind off mean that Soma should find his love before taking on Joichiro and his fight with Joichiro still being the finale, or is that just me?

Yesterday I read SnS 309 and besides the thought of the chapter being the redemption arc for Azami (it doesn't make me forgive him, but at least I can understand him a little bit more...)

I've read a lot of things regarding this chapter, such as the parallelism between Azami&Mana and Souma&Erina (and I thought of them while reading the CH too). People saying that doesn't want Sōma ending up with Erina because of the family drama, and the "need" to please the God's Tongue, so the relationship would be based more on Sōma working his ass off to please Erina's God tongue than to wanting to just give her all the food he wants naturally to come up with.

Let me ask you something: why would Sōma need to save Erina of that despair if she can do it by herself? Erina is known for being extremely talented, even from a young age, which states that she's even more talented than her parents.

I have my guess here but I truly believe Erina already went to that despair road and came back. Just think about everything she went through and tell me if that is not despair. She even lost the happiness found on cooking, which means she only did it just because she had to, not because she wanted to and that MAYBE is another form of storm that comes with being the God's Tongue and ofc, let's not forget that, in case I'm right, the one who pushed Erina to that disastrous storm was no other than her father.

The spartan training from Azami made Erina taste dishes that were "gourmet" only, giving just a unique path for her to follow, ignoring the other paths to innovate and create new dishes and flavors.

After spending time with everyone at the PSD and tasting that Yukihira dish, she found the will to cook again full of joy and happiness, during the Regimental/Central arc we were able to see how she expanded her horizons and experimented something new, created a new dish that could satisfy her and of course, to the judges as well.

Also, even when she's shaking now, please remember that she wants Asahi to win for her mom's sake, not hers. Not for an instant has Erina thought that the same could happen to her, and I believe it wouldn't. Erina's is more strong-willed than her mom, talented and of course, she has been in touch with youngsters that opened the doors for her world of flavors be expanded, something I truly believe Mana didn't had.

So, even if Sōma get to win Asahi and demonstrates that someone with no superhuman ability (ahem...) can create dishes that satisfies Mana's God Tongue, that doesn't mean same applies for Erina. She have the skills to keep herself safe from the destiny of the despair that comes with her gifted tongue.

So, please stop underestimating Erina's character/abilities and also the other ones (especially Megumi, that all the damn time everyone wants Sōma be saving Megumi or avenge her, like she needs that to be done for her and not be done by herself...), because these girls are strong and doesn't need a charming prince to save them.

And this was longer than I expected😅 but yeah, that's what I thought. Sōma doesn't need to save her or end up with her (in case that Tsukuda makes that happen or something) just because she needs someone to avoid her to fall into that God's Tongue storm, and that would be the true parallelism between Erina's parents and her: Azami failed to save Mana. Erina won't fail to keep herself safe. And in case she ends up with Sōma, he will be there supporting and encouraging her to explore other paths, new highs, not trying to save her.

This is want I want to keep believing. Peace~

Shin Sakura Taisen The Stage Cast Comments on Winter 2020 Comeback

Sakura Taisen composer Kohei Tanaka and the Shin Sakura Taisen The Stage cast all shared multiple comments following the stage play’s revival.

During the 14th “Sakura Taisen Imperial Communication Department’s Broadcast” stream held on June 19, Sega newly announced Shin Sakura Taisen The Stage. First announced at Tokyo Game Show 2019 for March 5 to 8 2020, the show was canceled due to Covid-19. Now, it’s coming back for Winter 2020 in Japan. The stage play’s cast all shared joyful comments on Twitter, which we’ve covered below. Sakura Taisen composer Kohei Tanaka commented on the revival as well during the stream.

On stream, Kohei Tanaka explained how the cast is even better than before. No one knows yet how the Covid-19 situation will evolve. As such, no venue for the screenings was specified as they’re unsure how many fans will be able to gather and watch, but it’ll definitely be a great show. Kohei Tanaka added they don’t know yet if they’ll do the exact same show they were planning for March, or if they’ll add new elements.

Both on Twitter and via a message revealed on the stream, Yuna Sekine (Sakura Amamiya) said she’s incredibly happy the stage play is happening, and thanked the fans who kept showing support on social media. The other actresses all published similar messages on Twitter.

Earlier today, Sega hosted their tenth Project Sakura Wars streaming event. During the show, the hosts revealed the cast for the upcoming Project Sakura Wars The Stage live show. The production will star the following:

Juri Hirayu previously played Sailor Lead Crow in the Sailor Moon: Le Mouvement Final musical.

Project Sakura Wars The Stage run from March 5 through March 8, with eight shows planned. Tickets to the show are now on sale via the production’s website.

Project Sakura Wars hits Japanese retailers today. A standard and Limited Edition were both released for the project.

The Limited Edition includes a soundtrack CD and an artbook. The CD features more than sixty songs from the franchise’s history, while the artbook clocks in at seventy-two pages of art from the series.

The game will be released worldwide in Spring 2020.

Bleach creator Tite Kubo is providing the original character designs, while Jiro Ishii (Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, Under the Dog) is in charge of the story structure. Series composer Kohei Tanaka (Sakura Wars franchise, One Piece, Mobile Fighter G Gundam) is scoring the game’s soundtrack. Other staff members include:

Project Sakura Wars will be set twelve years after the events of Sakura Wars 5: So Long, My Love. In this new entry, the Combat Revues, which previously protected nations from evil while working incognito, are well known to all.

Indeed, the Great Combat Reveue World War is more of a global sporting event, in which the Combat Revues from across the globe gather in Japan’s Imperial Capital to compete in a tournament. These disparate groups then compete to determine which country’s kouma-crushing corps reigns supreme. By the time Project Sakura Wars begins, two such events have already taken place, and the nations are gathering in the Imperial capital for the third. What should be a peaceful event, though, suddenly takes a turn for the serious.

Sega’s email communication describes the story as:

The stage is set in a romanticized version of 1940s Imperial Tokyo. 10 years ago, a cataclysm resulted in the devastating loss of the Imperial Combat Revue of Tokyo, the capital’s global defense force operating out of the Imperial Theater. The theater has since fallen on hard times and risks closure. As captain of the new Tokyo revue, it’s up to you to mend the hearts of your troops and restore the Imperial Theater back to its former glory!

Project Sakura Wars was first revealed on April 14, 2018 at Sega Fes, and was originally tentatively slated to launch prior to March 31, 2019. On April 19, 2019, Sega Holdings President and CEO Haruki Satomi confirmed that the project will be “more than a game.”

A western release was not confirmed until March 29, though Japanese Asian releases were confirmed to be in the works.

Sakura Wars is an original project by Sega CS2 R&D (later Overworks) and Red Entertainment. Ohji Hiroi (Moeyo Ken, Far East of Eden), Satoru Akahori (Saber Marionette J, Martian Successor Nadesico), and Kosuke Fujishima (Ah! My Goddess, You’re Under Arrest!) are listed as the original creators of the franchise.

The first title appeared on the Sega Saturn in 1996. The initial entry, while released only in Japan at the time, was estimated to have a 200,000 lifetime sales goal. The title sold 205,270 units in its opening week, which was roughly 57% of the launch shipment. At the time, the title was seen as having the largest debut for a Sega title to date. It would go on to move 359,485 copies throughout the Saturn’s lifespan.

Seven manga and light novel adaptations

The fifth mainline title in the series, Sakura Wars V: So Long, My Love was released in North America by NIS America. The title is available on Sony’s PlayStation 2, as well as Nintendo Wii console.
