Rin: Bad Inuyasha Character
Tumblr media
Another bad damsel in distress in the Inuyasha series. I never really liked Rin since I've always thought of her as a weak girl who was clingy and obsessed with Sesshomaru. Rin is like a younger version of Kagome except she's not an archer.
Her Character
In the original, rin was an annoying and obnoxious little girl who had a dark past and a major obsession with sesshomaru but in yashahime it was much worst.
For the majority of yashahime, rin was frozen in the tree of ages. In the first season of episode 1, it was a flashback of a manga chapter in the final act. But in episode 15, she lacked character as she let sesshomaru, who just ignored her, take her newly born twins away with no explanation other than it was a rite of courage and cowardice and was completely obedient and okay with it. Suddenly in season 2, she was reverted back to her original annoying character and so on but worse.
In episode 27, I know why rin wants to protect towa and setsuna because she's there mother but she makes this over dramatic and whiny speech as she wants sesshomaru, who is her husband, to kill her to protect them.
Tumblr media
When she confronts kirinmaru, she pathetically tries to fight him, someone with no kind of power at all and no combat training is going to take on a very powerful beast king yokai who can instantly kill her as she is all talk and no action.
When rin finally meets towa and setsuna together closely, instead of hugging them immediately she decides to wait not like moe, ms higurashi, and kagome who did despite the circumstances.
Even after zero tried multiple times to kill towa and setsuna and terrorized them, rin still wants to save zero who ended up committing suicide by riku anyway.
2. Appearance and Age
Despite what the creators of yashahime tried to explain through jaken and tree of ages that rin is 18 and later 32, she is actually 15 and later 29.
The true creator, Rumiko Takahashi, explained databooks and interviews that rin was 7-8 years old but disgsting sessrin shippers want to ignore it and agree with yashahime creators.
The timeline of rin's age in order. In inuyasha, rin was 7-8, in the 3 year time skip of the final episode of the final act she is 11, in since then is 11 and 1/2 but yashahime said that 18 years have passed so 11 plus 18 is 29.
Despite yashahime falsely claiming she is 32, majority of the time makes rin look like she was still 11 and sometimes the exact age as towa and setsuna.
Tumblr media
3. Marriage
rin's marriage to sesshomaru is creepy and disgusting as he knew her since she was 7-8 years old. Rumiko Takahashi said in interviews and databooks that sesshomaru and rin have a father-daughter relationship. rin should've been with kohaku because they are close in age and have great interactions with each other. The sick reason for the yashahime creators pairing sesshomaru and rin together was because they wanted sesshomaru to have hanyos and rin is the only female that wasn't taken, has some kind of relationship with him, and is alive. They could've made Kaname Kururugi and Janis canon in yashahime and created a story where one of them returned to the feudal era and been with him or created a human female character for him but instead they choose someone that was like a daughter to him.
In yashahime, sesshomaru and rin's relationship is basically the same in the original except rin's is less rebellious and more obedient. rin still calls him 'lord sesshomaru' and doesn't see herself as his equal or even his wife as seen with her conversations with towa and setsuna, she refers to them as 'sesshomaru's daughters' and not both of theirs. sesshomaru doesn't see rin as his wife as he continues to give commands to her like she's a dog.
Ex. ordering her to stay in the tree of ages, him waking and orders her to follow him, orders her to stay and watch closely of him and kirinmaru fight, and in the last episode he orders her to follow him.
sesshomaru doesn't even take care of the towa and setsuna, especially when they were babies as he doesn't even change their diapers and rin just made excuses for him saying 'changing diapers doesn't suit lord sesshomaru' and dumbed her down.
Tumblr media
4. Sudden Change
In the yashahime series, rin worried about towa and setsuna and was even willing to sacrifice her life for them in the last episode with a conversations with them she completely changed.
rin was worried about kohaku and kagura but she had said to towa and setsuna 'since they're hanyos she's sure they'll more hardships and they'll be attacked by strange demons just for being the daughters of lord sesshomaru' while being cheerful and laughing.
While kagome, who is majority of the time an awful character, wife, and mother, who worried about moroha and wanted her out of debt immediately.

When you awoke again, the light from the candle was the only light source in the still-dark room. You lay there for a moment, gathering your thoughts. 'How long did I sleep?' You wondered as you moved to rub the sleep from your eyes. You yawned and stretched before you decided to lay there a little longer, your thoughts constantly racing. 'I don't usually sleep, it's very rare when I do. Even more so, I'm not usually this tired. I feel drained...yet also not.' You thought as you lay there. You eventually moved to sit up and you sat there, almost in a daze. 'That young half-demon. He must be the Lord of this castle. And his daughters, Kanna and Kagura, found me fainted in the fields.' You mentally recapped.
Your face contorted into confusion. 'But, I don't remember fainting on the fields. I remember meeting Kanna, and then nothing.' You thought, confusion consumed you as you tried to make sense of it all. 'Something isn't right. I feel like something is off, but I don't know what.' You thought as you tried to repair your scattered thoughts. 'I remember Inuyasha coming by with his friends, and they stayed for about a week and a half before they left.' You thought. You sat there for a moment, thinking over the visit with Inuyasha and the others.
'I vaguely remember him telling me of an enemy he has, and that he was an evil man... But... I can't remember his name.' You thought, you were troubled by that thought, because you usually didn't forget important moments like that. It was almost foreign to you. You sighed in frustration as you tried to recall the name Inuyasha told you. But no matter what you did, everything surrounding around the topic of the man... Would always turn to something else. "This doesn't make any sense." You whispered to yourself.
A light thump from the other side of the shogi doors made you look up at them. You sat there for a moment, listening to any other forms of movement. When you didn't hear anything you spoke up. "Is someone there?" You questioned aloud. You didn't receive an answer for a while, and you assume that they were probably passing by, but a soft voice sounded from the other side. "I'm sorry to disturb you. But I was ordered to come and ask if you were hungry by any chance?" Came the soft voice. It was boyish, so you already figured that it was a young boy. You smiled sweetly at the door. "No, not necessarily, but I could go for some water please." You gently said.
He was quiet for a moment before he answered. "Of course." He said before he stalked away. Your smile slowly vanished as you thought once more. 'Strange, I never heard him approach.' You thought. 'Perhaps it was because I was deep in thought.' You convinced yourself as to not worry. The thoughts of Inuyasha speaking of the evil man flooded your mind once more, but the moment you even tried to think of what he said, a wave of pain shot up your back and up to your head making you whine from the ache. "Oww... What is this pain?" You said in a tense voice as you rubbed your forehead.
"He did say I hit the ground hard, it must've been a hard fall then." You said in a pained voice. The sound of soft footsteps sounded by your door and you looked over towards it. A soft tapping on the wood sounded through and you relaxed your poster. "Come in." You responded. The door gently slid open, revealing a young boy. You studied him for a bit before your eyes slightly widen. 'He's a human?' You thought in shock. "I've returned with your water. Ma'am." He said. You smiled at him as you watched him place the cup down next to you. "Thank you." You said as you picked up the cup, you took a small sip from it. "How are you feeling? " He suddenly asked.
You swallowed your water and you smiled. "I am much better now, the young Lord of this castle gave me sheltering, and I must thank him for his hospitality." You kindly said. His face seemed to become slightly worried from your words but he covered it up with a sweet smile. "Yes, the Lord is very kind, he even saved me too." He said. Your eyes widen at this. "He did?" You asked. He nodded. "Mmhmm, he took me in after my family was slaughtered by demons." He sadly said. You frowned at him. "I'm so sorry about that. I wish humans and demons could live in harmony, but it's inevitable." You sadly said. He shook his head. "Don't be sorry, it's not your fault. And besides, if that had never happened, I would've never met the master." He optimistically said.
His words made you smile at him, the little bit of light in his eyes reminds you of Shippo in a way. "That's a beautiful way to look at it." You said. He smiled. "Tell me, what's your name? I am (Y/N)." You asked, introducing yourself in the process. He stared at you for a bit, almost as if he was shocked when you asked but he smiled shortly after. "My name is Kohaku." He said. Your eyes widen and everything seemed to become disoriented. 'Kohaku?... Where have I heard that name before?' You thought, your brain felt like it was spinning. 'I know this name... Who... Who told me this name?' You thought as Sango and Kanna flashed before your thoughts. 'Was it Sango who told me? Or was it Kanna?.... I don't know... Something isn't right... Something's wrong.' You thought as you began falling to your side.
Kohaku's eyes widen in worry as he caught your arm, keeping you from falling. "Miss (Y/N)! Are you alright?" He worriedly asked as he helped you to lie down. You didn't respond, your eyes becoming dull as if you were being pulled from your consciousness. Kohaku stared down at you in worry. "It's the Kusho Pearl." Came Kagura's voice from behind Kohaku. He turned towards her. "The Kusho Pearl?" He questioned. She didn't respond as she studied your still form. "The Kusho Pearl is a powerful stone that can harbor a hundred worlds. Its inky depths know no bounds." She explained. Kohaku stared at her, taking her words in before he asked. "What does that have to do with, Miss (Y/N)?" He curiously asked.
Kagura stared down at him for a bit before she walked into the room, she walked up next to him before she stared down at you. He looked up at her, waiting for an answer, but a purple glow coming from you caught his attention and he looked over at you. The purple light was coming from the center of your chest, it seemed to pulsate in time with your heartbeat. "What's happening?" He asked in worry. Kagura stared on. "The Kusho Pearl has pieces of her memory fragments, as well as half of her soul." She explained. Kohaku stared down at you in worry as he listened. "Naraku." He sadly said.
Kagura nodded. "He implanted a shard of the jewel into her back, since the Kusho Pearl can't be controlled without it." She explained. He looked up at her curiously. "Why not?" He asked. She looked over at him. "Because without the jewel, the void will consume the wielder." She said. Kohaku's eyes widen. "It'll consume them? Why?" He questioned once more. She smirked in response. "Because the Pearl is much too powerful to be simply wielded by a simpleton. The only ones who can wield it without the jewel are; the Priestess Kikyo, that girl Kagome, and whoever holds the power of the Underworld." She said, she almost sounded pleased as her eyes gleamed.
Kohaku stared up at her, trying to make sense of her words before his eyes widen in understanding. "Sesshomaru." He said. Her smirk widens. "Bingo." She said in a pleased voice. Kohaku looked down for a bit, lost in thought. Kagura allowed him some time to his thoughts, while she looked over at your now sleeping form. The exhaustion of having your brain find thoughts that don't exist anymore made you pass out. "I have a plan." Kagura spoke up, making Kohaku pull from his thoughts as he slowly looked up at her. Her eyes gleamed in mischief. "And I'm going to need you to help me, Kohaku." She said.

Somewhere else in the castle, in a dark room, a purple light could be seen casting shadows on the walls. On a small tray, the Kusho Pearl could be seen emitting a bright purple aura before it pulsed. Sitting next to it was Naraku. He stared at the Pearl with a pleased smirk. "It would seem that she has finally met Kohaku. The sound of his name was enough to try and trigger a memory that isn't even her's anymore, and in response, the Kusho Pearl is sucking in more memories surrounding him." He spoke as he watched the Pearl begin to pulse like a heartbeat. His eyes narrowed as he stared at it. "It seems to be feasting off of her memories... Or perhaps... It's her demonic aura." He said, trying to make sense of the pearl's sudden change in behavior.
His eyes then widen when he thought of something. "Is it perhaps switching the human half of her soul with her demonic half? If so, that would explain why the power in the Pearl has increased." He said. A bright purple light emitted from behind him and he looked over, seeing the small portion of the Sacred Jewel glow in response to the Pearl. "It would seem that my hunch is right then. The jewel is reacting to the demonic energy in the Pearl. Hmmm, perhaps, one shard within her isn't nearly enough." He thought as he seem to rethink his plans. "Her demonic aura is older than what I assumed it was, it's much stronger than I originally thought." He said.
The Pearl seemed to dull down and the jewel followed suit. Both items dimmed down and the room was back to being shrouded in shadows. Naraku's red eyes glowed in the dark room, as he slightly thought over his plans before he smirked. "Perhaps I'll have Kagura go and visit Inuyasha sooner than I planned." He said before he chuckled.

Kohaku walked down one of the many dark halls of the castle, he was deep in thought as he walked alone. 'Kagura's plan is almost suicidal, she wants her freedom so bad that she'll risk Misses (Y/N)'s life.' He thought. He was slightly angered by Kagura's selfish plan, but he also felt sorry for her. She never asked to be birthed into a life like this, she wanted freedom. He continued on his walk, turning down a hall. 'I hope Miss (Y/N) will wake up soon, she's so far the brightest thing in this castle.' He thought as he remembered your sweet smile. He smiled to himself as he thought of you.
'Hopefully, once I'm done, I can hang with her again.' He thought hopefully. His smile slowly left as he thought over Kagura's plan.
"What plan?" He asked her. Her smirk widen as she walked back over to the shogi doors, she peaked out, looking left and right before she closed them and walked over to him and she kneeled down to his level. "I plan on getting that jewel that's implanted into her back." She said. His eyes widen at her words. "But, won't she die?" he worriedly asked her. She scoffed as she rolled her eyes. "Calm down, she isn't like you. She'll live once that shard is pulled out, maybe a little weak, but she'll manage." She explained meanly, but it comforted him non the less.
He looked over at your sleeping form before he looked back at her. "How do we get the shard then?" He asked. Kagura smiled once more. "Simple, we get Inuyasha and his band of heroes to get it out." She explained. Kohaku's eyes widen. "Inuyasha? Do you mean that they'll have to kill her?" He asked once more worried for your safety. Kagura shrugged. "Beats me, I just want the shard out." she said. Kohaku's stare harden. "If Miss (Y/N) is harmed, then I won't help you." He said in a stern voice. Her stare harden into an annoyed one. "You're worried over a woman you don't even know. What if she turns on you? Then what?" She harshly said as she tried to drive sense into him.
But his resolve never fell. "That won't happen, she's much too kind." He said as he looked over at you. Kagura stared at him for a moment before she scoffed and she stood up. "You humans make me sick, with all your emotions and whatnot. Why can't you just think for yourself once." She lectured before she walked towards the door. He stayed silent as she walked away, before he spoke up. "Wait!!" He called out. She stopped, and she looked back at him over her shoulder. When she didn't respond he spoke up. "What would happen, if we left the shard in her back?" He asked.
She studied him for a bit before she answered. "Then all of her precious memories will be whipped clean." She said honestly. He seemed to frown in worry before he looked back at you. Kagura watched as he weighed his thoughts. He then turned to her. "I'll help you, but only for Misses (Y/N)'s sake." He said. Kagura turned back towards him, a smirk on her face. "I don't care what you do it for, I just want my freedom in return." She said. Kohaku nodded at her before he stood up, so that he could be on her level. "What's the plan?" He asked.
Her smirk widens. "It's simple really. We tell Inuyasha of her predicament, and knowing that fool he'll come rushing in blindly ready to save his precious mother. Naturally, Sesshomaru will follow as he's never too far behind, and with his help, we'll get the shard from her back." She explained. Kohaku nodded. "Then what will we do?" He asked. "While Inuyasha and that girl are busy getting the shard, Naraku will be forced to intercept him, because, without the jewel in her body, the Kusho Pearl will turn on him, sucking him into the void." She explained. Kohaku's eyes widen in understanding. "Then we'll keep Miss (Y/N) hidden from Naraku?" He asked, trying to understand.
Kagura frowned. "Don't be stupid, use your head. If we hide her then Naraku will instantly slay us without a second thought." She scolded. He seemed to flinch from her lecture, but he still asked. "Then what do we do?" He asked. She calmed and smirked. "It'll be up to you to lead either Sesshomaru or the girl to the Kusho Pearl. Only they can wield it, and knowing Naraku's greedy ass, he'll try everything in his power to keep both the shard in her and the Kusho Pearl in his grasp." she said. He calculated everything she said before he gasped in understanding and her smirk widens. "So, it's our job, to ensure that the jewel is pulled from her back, so that the Kusho Pearl backfires on Naraku!!" He said. "Bingo." Kagura said in a pleasing tone.
Kohaku sighed as he stopped walking in the halls, the weight of the situation weighed heavy on him, but he was determined to do this. 'If this works out, then we'll all be freed from Naraku.' He thought, before he kneeled down in front of the shogi doors, and he cleared his thoughts before he spoke. "You called for me, Master?" He asked.

Dude that last ask was weird on the response, like I like Sess w his daughters and wifey too, but the answer had nothing to do w the ask hehe
Have u seen the green witcheโ€™s poster? They gave her those fake woe is me victim eyes again!
Seriously is it the frickin actress or do they only have one look for this spore? ๐Ÿ˜ค
Allicent is only a โ€˜victimโ€™ of her own actions
Sorry. I was a little busy when I answered the request on Sessrin.
Since the request ended on something positive. I just added something positive.
But yes, essentially Sessrin is very well received from what I know in Japan. It's a fairly cultural thing in the end I think.
The Sessrin antis are quite stupid. Most people expected Rin and Sesshomaru to get together once she was older.
Then, no I haven't seen the posters for the Greens except quickly and anyway I've always said it, Alicent literally only has doe eyes filled with tears as an expression.
Even his funko pop figurine have the sad eyes ! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'd like to imagine he'd accidentally came across his human darling - a villager who was gathering herbs in the forest, minding her own business. And he leaves it at that, even when you take a glance at him, you go back to minding your own business. Like you knew better.
Which was rare, among humans. Ever so curious, they always had to find out what's happening. Who's who. Danger a joke to them, at times.
But even when you cast your head down, he can smell it - the fear radiating off of you. It's thick, more so than the average human or demon who crosses him. It's almost strange, but he chalks it up to the fact he's a male and you're a female - the fear of rape probably fresh in your mind.
He wants to chaste you for it, but he knows how men - both demons and humans - can be. Disgusting. He doesn't understand the appeal of sex solely for pleasure, much less the thought of forcing someone.
With that last thought, he turns on his heel, walking away from you. He'll forget about you, most likely. If he were to run into you again, you best hope he's in a neutral or even the rarer, good mood.
Little does he know, however that you recognize him. That this was your second life, the first being in a modern world where this world is nothing more than a work of fiction. But now it's your reality.
Your hellhole.

A little headcanon that Iโ€™ve always had for InuYasha is that Kagome brings disposable cameras with her to the Feudal Era. Some are filled with photos of nature and random villagers she meets along her journey. But most are of her friends. A shaky group photo taken by Kaede, a candid shot of Sango playing with Kirara, Miroku getting slapped by yet another lady, InuYasha and Shippo arguing, and calm moments while theyโ€™re resting. Thereโ€™s a photo of Rin wearing a flower crown (Sesshomaru is in the background wearing a matching one because he would do anything for his daughter). Another photo shows Koga posing heroically. Thereโ€™s even a photo of Kagura watching flower petals dance in the wind.
And when the well closes up, Kagome gets all the photos developed. She explains her friends away as cosplayers when the worker at the photoshop asks. She puts them all in a big album, all in chronological order. Kagome looks at them every day until she goes back and can see her friends in the flesh once more.

Hi it been a while I have a request
Can I request a yandere playtonic Inuyasha and kagome and seshormru and mikro nd sango x koga pup daughter reader separately
Like he didn't want her cuz she a runt and and ONLY one year old but also a half Demon please and thank you
Broken: Hey, it's been a while. (Looks at the Ask) Simple enough but I don't think I can do Sesshomaru with this because he hates half-demons and Koga for killing Rin, who's to say he wouldn't kill Koga's Pup? Now, let the words weave together.
Inuyasha & Kagome
It was the middle of the day when it happened - Kagome was doing the laundry while Inuyasha was hunting for their dinner when a familiar tornado suddenly appeared in the distance and got closer, causing Kagome to cover her face from the dust until she felt that it was stopped. She opened her eyes and there standing before her was Koga the Wolf Demon and in his hands was a tiny baby with a wolf tail. Kagome rose to her feet and asked him what he was doing here and he handed her the baby before explaining - the infant was the result of a one-night stand he had with a mortal woman after he got mad with his mate, Ayame, and she showed up to the wolf den with the baby in her hands.
Koga took the infant but already had a litter of his own with Ayame and wanted nothing to do with the Half-Demon Infant. Kagome was disgusted by Koga's Story and slapped him across the face before telling him to leave, which he did, leaving the tiny baby in Kagome's Arms; how was she going to explain this to Inuyasha when he returned from hunting?
When Inuyasha did return, Kagome produced the infant before him and explained the story that Koga told her, causing the Half-Demon to look angered at the Wolf Demon's Ways, but he gathered the infant in his arms and smiled at her before nuzzling her with his nose, making the baby giggle. "We'll raise her as our own, Kagome." Inuyasha stated before he walked into the living room as Kagome smiled and cooked dinner.
As time went on, The Wolf Girl - named [Name] - grew up in a loving but strict home with Inuyasha and Kagome; [Name] was always near Kagome with Inuyasha hovering over both of them, watching his daughter and wife doing their daily tasks or training with Inuyasha when the Half-Demon commissioned a sword to be made for her on her 16th birthday. Inuyasha didn't let [Name] do anything alone, she always had to be with someone that he trusted and that circle was rather small when [Name] was rather small, even more so when she grew older. Inuyasha and Kagome were going to protect their daughter no matter the cost and they were going to kill anyone or anything that tried to hurt her.
Miroku & Sango
Miroku was taking a job near The Wolf Demon's Den when a small child crashed into him with tears in her eyes and a long brown tail, she was covered in bruised and her treads were ripped with teeth and claw marks. Miroku asked what the child was doing out there and the kid explained that she was the daughter of Koga and Ayame but she was unwanted because she was the runt of her litter. Koga had sent the wolves after her to kill her because he was tired of watching over her but [Name] managed to escape.
Fueled by anger for Koga and Ayame, as well as it for the little girl before him, he scooped the girl in his arms and held her close as he continued on his path home - he was going to explain this to Sango as the girl clung to his robes and fell asleep from crying. When he returned home, he explained everything to Sango and their daughters about what [Name] told him and expressed that he was adamant about keeping her as their own. Sango looked at the sleeping girl and agreed to her husband's request.
As time went on, Sango trained [Name] in the way of the Demon Huntress and would take the girl on one petty mission with her, much to Miroku's Dislike but he had to agree because [Name] would look at him with those eyes and the two of them would make a deal. [Name] was talented in the way of the sword and would kill any weak demons that Sango allowed her to but that was all she was allowed to do. Her parents were overprotective of her and didn't let her do anything on her own, saying that the world was dangerous and they just wanted to keep her safe.

On Ships With Age Gaps
I've thought about writing a post like this for a long time, but I always decided against it because I don't feel the need to justify anything I say (or do, or enjoy, or ship, or write) to the good people of tumblr.
However, I do think that there are some people on here who, rather than being actively cruel or hateful towards certain shippers/writers, are just really confused or grossed out and don't understand why we people like these things and don't want to just assume that we're all degenerate freaks, and that maybe they might benefit from learning my story.
(Note that this is just my story. Other people may or may not have their own stories, which may or may not resemble mine-- the point is that these stories exist, and that just because you don't understand doesn't mean there isn't a reason.)
I was in middle school when I first realized that I had a (very normal) problem: I was attracted to guys, but boys my age were obnoxious. (Every heterosexual female reading this is nodding their head in sympathy.) Many of them made rude jokes, and said nasty things, and most of them were just generally immature and irresponsible and not-at-all crush-worthy.
Adult guys, on the other hand, were nice and sweet and smart and mature (*insert laughter here*). They knew how to be responsible, and how to treat girls right and take care of the people who mattered to them. They were ready to get married and settle down in a house with a white picket fence and 2.5 kids. (You get the idea. Give me a break, I was, like, eleven or twelve and most of the men in my life really were great guys in happy and stable marriages.)
So, like many other girls my age, I fantasized about attractive twenty-something-year-olds falling madly in love with me. (I can not hammer this home enough: this is perfectly normal behavior.)
But at the same time, I knew that this sort of relationship was obviously something I was not in any way ready for, and, in any case, I didn't actually know very many attractive single guys in this age range. (Because why would I?)
So, instead, like any normal kid, I gravitated toward stories I could live vicariously through. Stories about about girls my own age (or maybe a little older) who fell for guys who loved them back. Guys who were willing to wait for them. Or at the very least guys who treated them like equals, and, once they were old enough, might start seeing them in more of a romantic light.
The very first relationship like this that I remember falling for was Sesshomaru and Rin from Inuyasha.
(Actually, my first real adult/minor ship was probably Lux and Eric from Life Unexpected, but after that dumpster-fire of an ending, I didn't want to think about anything related to that show ever again.) (Although it did introduce me to One Tree Hill, which is still one of my favorite shows of all time, so I guess it did something right.) (And Nathan and Haley probably also fit the bill-- Nathan wasn't an adult, but he was mature and responsible and ready to settle down. TV really should bring back teen marriage plotlines instead of endless cycles of love triangles.)
I discovered anime in seventh grade, and Inuyasha was my second real anime. (In case you're wondering, Fairy Tail was my first.) I quickly fell in love with Rin (who was an example of what would become one of my favorite character archetypes), and her relationship with Sesshomaru fascinated me.
Here you had this demon who hated humans, only to be bewildered when one try to help him, leading him to use a part of his heritage that he'd been rejecting until now in order to save her. And then she just. Follows him. And he lets her? And he just spends the entire series treating her like an equal and letting her do literally whatever she wants?
(To those who read them as father and daughter: uh, if I saw a parent with this sort of laissez-faire approach to child-raising, I would be very concerned. He treats her like a traveling companion and constantly defers to her wishes. She gets kidnapped and he only comes to rescue her when he's sure that's what she wants? Very parental of him.)
And then when he's finally about to reach the goal he's been working towards this entire time, he gives it up the moment Rin gets hurt. ("Nothing was worth losing her?" ICONIQUE, nobody is doing it like him!) And then in the final battle, he fights alongside the same people he was trying to kill when we first met him. All because Rin has taught him that humans have worth, that weakness isn't a sin, that there are more important things than strength and hatred? Are you kidding me?
I've already gone into my love for this ship here, so I'm not going to repeat the whole thing, but I will say that I loved what we saw of them in the finale-- the two of them separated, so that Rin could grow up and decide what she wanted out of their relationship. Because he was willing to wait for whatever choice she decided to make.
This was a game changer for me. It was exactly what I hadn't realized I was looking for. I needed more. What followed was a love for various other wholesome bonds between protective/traumized men and the girls who taught them about love.
Naofumi and Raphtalia of Rising of the Shield Hero (talk about clueless guys-- he seriously managed to convince himself that he only saw her as daughter because he had no other frame of reference and had been so traumatized by the last girl he liked), Kyoko and Katsuya (dude was more than willing to wait for her and only stepped in when she needed him to be there for her? Find me another man this swoon-worthy) and Kureno and Arisa of Fruits Basket (I normally don't buy love-at-first-sight, but for these two cuties I'll suspend my disbelief), Zack and Rachel of Angels of Death (the age gap is the least problematic thing here), Mamoru and Haruka of Until Death Do Us Part (the man literally laughed the idea of their relationship off until he couldn't anymore. And then, again, he let her go and waited until she was ready), Satoru and Airi of Erased (the soulmatism!), Accelerator and Last Order of A Certain Magical Index (alright, fine, I've never been able to decide if I prefer these two to stay purely platonic or eventually fall in love, but whatever they have I adored), and many, many others.
But the thing here is that none of these relationships are the main focus of their respective series. I wasn't going out and actively looking for these ships, but when they showed up in the stories I loved I would certainly enjoy them. (Love stories were cute and all, but magic and adventure were way more interesting to middle-school me.)
It was only when I was in high school and I started getting more into romantic stories that began actively seeking out the sort of thing I was looking for. Seiji and Shiharu of Love So Life are still near and dear to my heart (my guy buys her a ring, tells her he'll never want anyone else, refuses to let her reciprocate, and doesn't go near her for almost six years to make sure that she doesn't choose him until she's really ready. KING), Mao and Hiro of House of the Sun will never stop being adorable (Taamo's drawing style is so stinkin' cute), The Start of Niina is as heartbreakingly lovely as ever (the gift and trauma of reincarnation!), and Faster Than a Kiss is a gem (another great guy who does his best to take care of the girl he loves but won't lay a hand on her until she's ready).
And it wasn't just age gap stories. Because the age gap wasn't the real point-- the point was mature guys who were ready to commit and smart girls who knew a good thing when they saw it. Which is why I also devoured stories about teens getting married (please bring these back, western media) and arranged marriages ("we may not have wanted this but we are going to make it work"). The World is Still Beautiful remains one of my favorite fantasy-romances, Absolute Peace Strategy is hilarious, I really need to reread Prince of Silk and Thorn, Dawn of the Arcana is fantastic, Taisho Maiden Fairytale is super-cute, etc. etc. (This is not an exhaustive list, btw-- feel free to DM me or drop an ask if you're looking for more in any of these genres.)
Once I discovered fandom, fanon, and shipping culture, it was a given that my love for these dynamics would cross over into media where such things weren't canon.
(And, for the nth time, all of this was perfectly normal and understandable behavior for a girl my age.)
These were stories and tropes I adored. But they were stories. Fiction. They were not reality. And even at the very earliest stages of this interest, I understood the difference.
When I was in seventh or eighth grade, there was an incident involving one of my female classmates and a twenty-something-year-old male student-teacher. I was not directly involved (I barely knew the girl) and I wasn't exactly asking for details (I've always prefered to stay out of real-world drama if I can), but middle school girls are loud and I have good ears, so I was pretty sure I got the gist. (Years later, I spoke with one of the other teachers who'd been involved with handling the aftermath, and she confirmed and added some more context.)
To simplify, the teacher in question had somehow gotten a hold of the girl's phone number and had been sending her texts that were not appropriate for a grown man to be sending to a thirteen year old girl. This made her highly uncomfortable, but she was too scared to say anything-- it wasn't as though there was anything explicit or overtly sexual (he told her how pretty she was, and how much he looked forward to seeing her every day, and I do not know or want to know what else)-- and she didn't want to look like she was make a big deal out of nothing. But when her friends found out, they immediately said "this is not okay," and marched her to the nearest female teacher to confess the whole thing. (Good for them!)
Again, I was not directly involved. I did not discuss the subject with any of my classmates, I was obviously not present when the school staff spoke with the guy, and I have no idea what exactly the school policy was for this sort of thing. All I saw from my end was a crying girl being comforted by her friends as they dragged her off, and within the next day or two we were told that this teacher would be ending his postion early (he'd been supposed to leave soon, regardless, as he was only a temp). I never saw him again.
And there was never a question in my mind that this man's behavior was deplorable, that this story should never have happened, and that this girl was a victim of a horrible injustice.
(I have a vivid recollection of being outraged when another teacher-- who happened to be related to him (probably how he'd gotten the job, I don't remember ever our school having had a student-teacher before or after)-- told us he was being forced to leave earlier than planned like we were supposed to be sad about it, and then insisted we make a good-bye card for him (while making snide comments under her breath about how some people needed to learn to keep their mouths shut). (I honestly don't remember whether or not I helped decorate the stupid thing, or what the girl did while this was happening.) I was not old enough or mature enough to fully realize that what this other teacher did was also hideously inappropriate and ought to have been reported as well, but I did know that it was nasty and underhanded and I didn't like it. (This was not the only time when this teacher behaved obnoxiously or passive-aggressively insulted a student for bringing a complaint to the school staff or doing something else she disliked (I was on the receiving end at least once or twice, but that's another story), and she did not return the next year. Good riddance.))
In any case, despite the fact that age gap stories (and even the occasional teacher-student romance) were something I liked seeing in media, I recognized the clear distinction between fiction and reality, and what was right and wrong. I didn't even need to think about it. Even at thirteen, when I didn't fully understand what was and wasn't appropriate behavior for a teacher, this was something I understood perfectly.
And to anyone reading this and saying, "alright, fine, so you liked age gap relationships as a kid because they let you vicariously live out your perfectly ordinary teenage fantasies, but you're not fifteen anymore. Isn't it time you moved on?":
People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Y'all still read/watch the same stories you enjoyed as children-- that's why you're in these fandoms to begin with. If you can understand still loving those things as adults, it shouldn't be much of a leap to grasp me liking the same sort of fictional relationship dynamics I did in high school.
(Which isn't to say those are the only kind of ships I like. They never were. But I'll probably always have a soft spot for them.)
TL;DR: I initially got into age gap ships because they let preteen me fantasize about a hot older guy sweeping me off my feet. No, this did not prevent me from recognizing predatory behavior from real adults. No, I'm not letting go of the things I liked as a kid just because they make you uncomfortable.

sessrinners will get karma if their actions are exposed by bullying and doxed
Nah, fam, we don't work with bullying or doxing around here. And even if we did, it wouldn't be necessary. Karma already bit sinners in the ass.
They spent two years yelling about how Sessrin was popular... only to see Yashahime's views drop the exact second Sunrise made it happen, losing just enough money so that it had to merge with other company.
They screamed that the show was now about the Sessrin family... only to see Sunrise giving all the actual emotional, affectionate scenes to Inuyasha, Kagome and their daughter while their ship was given shallow, cold and short interactions the few times they even shared the same frame.
They insisted Inukag wasn't as relevant as Sessrin... just to see them being used as promotional bait time and time again and the show only trend when they were in the episode.
They acted like Yashahime was the best thing to ever happen to mankind... only to see the animation and the writing getting dragged episode after episode by the critics.
They tried to convince us that there was nothing wrong with their ship and that it was approved and intended by Takahashi... only to hear her say Sesshomaru was nothing but Rin's legal guardian, the producers state that they didn't know how to write the relationship because it wasn't in the manga and many other people express how uncomfortable they were with the pairing.
They told us Sessrin was heavily accepted in the fandom... only to be faced with a massive backlash when the identity of the twins' mother was revealed.
They said that Rin was an adult... only to have Sunrise drawing her as a teen who looks younger than her 14 years old daughters, giving them nothing but kid Rin merch, juxtaposing child Rin and Sesshomaru scenes with romantic Inukag scenes, tracing a direct parallel between Rin and the villain's 14 years old daughter, changing the timeline a thousand times, making Jaken have to expressly state that she was 18 at the time she got pregnant... not to mention that one producer who actually said Rin was just "a little bit" older and that he asked her VA to keep her child self in mind.
They got it in their heads that Sesshomaru was this caring brother, husband and father who actually had a master plan to save the day and knew what he was doing all along while Rin was this girl boss, goddess queen... only to get hit with Sunrise showing him as a selfish bastard who doesn't give a flying fuck to his family and Rin being a plot device yet again, with the two of them displaying the exact same dynamic they always had since she was a child.
They forced this show as canon... only for the fandom to collectively ignore it completely and refuse to accept it.
They scolded Inukag shippers for demanding justice for the characters of the original show and for Moroha... only to have to do the same thing for their ship because in the end of the day they got jackshit but the fact that an official Inuyasha source made Sessrin happen.
And now there are only two options for them: to admit that we have been right or pretend that they're happy with what they got. Honestly, they don't need to be exposed or made fun of, because everything they do, every situation they purposefully put themselves into is already a prank in and on itself.
In fact, if the ship was just a little bit less disgusting and its shippers a little bit less annoying I'd actually feel inclined to pity them.

Itโ€™s the misogyny for me with how prevalent father/daughter incest is all over the anime industry. Like of course all grooming ships are equally awful but it sure is mighty sus that it always happens to be this particular family dynamic thatโ€™s somehow always fetishized and sexualized. Like why is it never mother/son? Or even same-sex parent and child? This goes back to what the fandom has repeatedly been saying that if Rin were a boy, or heck if their genders were reversed and Sesshomaru was a woman, the thought of a possible ship wouldnโ€™t have even entered Sunriseโ€™s mind, they wouldโ€™ve been treated as the normal parent/child pair that they are, PERIOT.
Letโ€™s just say thereโ€™s a reason why youโ€™d never in a million years get a gender reverse Usagi Drop where an adult woman adopts a little boy and eventually marries him once he grows up.
The Inuyasha fandom is proof of this. At different times, Kagura and Kikyo both took 11 year old Kohaku under their wing, yet no one ships KagKoh or KikKoh ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

So the Yashahime manga was in my local Barnes and Noble. I was reading through it and thereโ€™s a few things that improve on the anime... some not so much...
But my god, thereโ€™s a moment thatโ€™s so heartbreaking that I really wish it had been in the anime.
Souta had always hoped to one day go to the Feudal Era to find his sister. He apparently did all this research and prepping in the event that he could do so. Even as a kid and Kagome was still around, he was researching in hopes of going too some day. He and his family get to met the daughter of the girl that they were sure that theyโ€™d never see again.
And then he finally gets his chance to follow after his niece, his adopted daughter and her sister....
But then he remembers he actually has a life in the modern era with his own family and he canโ€™t abandon them.
He has to give up those wishes because he has something far more important in his era that he canโ€™t abandon and he knows it.
Itโ€™s so damn painful... he has to not only give up a dream, but he has to give up any hope of seeing his sister once more because he now has a family of his own who loves him and who he loves back. Heโ€™s no longer that little kid that admired Inuyasha, but a grown adult with responsibilities.
Seriously that is a powerful moment. This makes Rinโ€™s stupid โ€˜I canโ€™t hug you until Sesshomaru is betterโ€™ sacrifice in the last few episodes PALE in comparison to what Souta had to give up in the manga version. Thereโ€™s a better show of maturity in Souta that should have been in the anime.
And shit, itโ€™s justโ€“it hits you when you are older because like Souta you are no longer that kid or teen that wanted those things. Itโ€™s incredibly bittersweet, but it shows what kind of man Souta is in that he choses not to risk being separated from his family forever like Kagome did. No matter how badly he wanted this day to come.
The Higurashi family has to go through so much shit because of the way time travel works in Inuyasha/Yashahime. They have to suffer far more than any family in the sequel series.

"Sesshomaru was just a friend to Rin"
Sesshomaru being a father / authority figure to Rin throughout the ENTIRE Inuyasha series:
Episode 44. Kaijinbo's Evil Sword: When Sesshomaru lifts Goshinki's head with one arm, Rin starts screaming excitedly, like the little girl she is. Then Sesshoumaru tells her to keep quiet, so she immediately obeys. Here we see how much authority Sesshomaru has over her. And we'll see it over and over again, as this is the way most of their interactions are: he orders and she obeys.
Tumblr media
Episode 45. Sesshomaru Wields Tokijin: When Sesshomaru senses someone's presence (Kagura) he orders Rin to keep still. And she is so young she understands it literally, so she stands right where she is.
Tumblr media
It is only when Sesshomaru has finished talking to Kagura (another adult) that he tells Rin she can move again. And she obeys immediately. Again, Sesshomaru and Rin's interactions are those of an adult in authority over a child he cares for.
Tumblr media
Episode 52. The Demon's True Nature: I love this scene. When Sesshomaru returns from stopping Inuyasha (who had turned into a full demon), Rin cheerfully welcomes him, as she always does when he arrives. And he asks Rin if she has been good. And she's so young she even includes Ah-Un in her answer (who, by that time, has become her watchdog).
This scene makes me think of a father who returns from his job and is greeted by his daughter, whom he left with the babysitter (Jaken) and asks her if she has been good. For me, this scene completely establishes Sesshoumaru and Rin as father and daughter. I can't imagine two "friends" interacting like this.
Tumblr media
Episode 66.  Naraku's Barrier - Kagura's Decision: This is another scene that reminds me of a father taking care of his daughter. Rin stays behind because she wish upon a star, so Sesshoumaru tells her to walk along with everyone, like any parent would. Once again, Rin immediately obeys.
Tumblr media
Episode 79.  Jaken's Plan To Steal The Tetsusaiga: Sesshomaru listens to Rin's stomach and encourages her to look for food on her own (To me, this seems like a father trying to encourage independence in his daughter). And she, again, says โ€œall rightโ€ without question.
Tumblr media
But Sesshomaru doesn't send her alone, he orders Jaken (the babysitter) to go with her and help her, and they take Ah-Un, so she doesn't get tired of walking. Sesshomaru actually cares about her safety and well-being, like any parent would.
Tumblr media
Throughout the entire series, Sesshomaru acts the same way a father figure would: he provides protection, gives her instructions, makes it easy for her to find food, gives her clothes, shoes, a safe place, a babysitter, and even a pet. In a way, Sesshomaru gives her a family and he continues to care for her even years later. Rin goes from being a child who suffered abuse and malnutrition to looking happy and healthy. A grown man who does all this for a child, cannot be seen as someone who, at least in part, supported the raising of said child?
Tumblr media
At the end, we finally find out how much Sesshomaru loves Rin (who has always been just a 7 year old girl). So, Would it be logical to think that someone who is only a โ€œcompanionโ€ can feel that love? For me, if an adult does all this for a child and itยดs also clear that he loves that child, the healthiest thing would be to think that he sees her as his own child. Not as a future wife. I don't understand how anyone could have seen a potential romance in all of this.
Tumblr media
By the way, I love this scene, because they also include Kohaku, another human child that Sesshomaru cares for, indicating the way both children have influenced him and how through them he, who has had "problems" with his own father figure, can take on that role and grow and develop tremendously as a person and as a character.

So out of nowhere I was tagged and quoted by a SR shipper for a blog of mine posted in August of last year. Talk about throwback but, hey, gotta appreciate that level of snooping. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Back in the day I actually used to encourage discourse amongst Inuyasha fans- both shippers and antis alike- but I've since realized that it's a lost cause. But for you, @feministmetalgreymon , I'll grant this exception. Just 'cause it's been a while so why the hell not. haha
I want to assure you, however, that nothing you say will ever convince me that Sesshomaru and Rin are meant to be together romantically or that the story intended it so. Nor will you find any validation here. You can ship them for all I care, but please for all that is good and holy while I have your attention try- I mean really try- to understand why it is so many of us Inuyasha fans are so against this pairing in the first place (newsflash: it's not about ship wars), and why we believe a romance between the two of them is completely and utterly out of character.
For those of you interested in reading this, the blog of mine in question that the above shipper mentions in their counter-argument is here for reference. It's titled "Jaken = Rin's Dad?" I'm going to try and keep this short, but I'm also making no such promises. After all, I'm not exactly known for my brevity. haha Now let's get crackin'!
Like you, feministmetalgreymon, did for your recent blog here where you took screenshots of mine to address certain parts, I will be doing the same and dissecting yours accordingly.

I worked with kids for many years as a teacher, and many people in my family have too or still do. Two of them happen to be just over 5 feet which is quite short for the average adult woman living here. I've also worked alongside many a women of short stature, and never did I hear any of them complaining of issues with their students having difficulty differentiating them from their own peers just because they were short as well. I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous. Kids are quite smart and pick up on a lot more than you seem to give them credit for. Height is not the only characteristic they look at to determine who's an adult and who's not, and it's foolish to suggest otherwise. So unless you're a babysitter who's still in their teens and/or who has very childlike features or behavior then I'm afraid what you're getting at is total hogwash. This is just another example of how you shippers offer nothing of real substance to your reasoning, it's only ever cherry-picking or strawmanning from you guys. Stop deflecting from the real issues please, because this certainly isn't one and only winds up being a complete waste of time for all parties involved.
[Snippet 2]
Tumblr media
Okay, calm down now. I wasn't insinuating that relationships between parents and children can't change over time in terms of how they get along. Of course that's possible, as all families experience their fair share of estrangement and abuse. What I was speaking about was in reference to the overall dynamic between the two. Because a bad mother or father can still be viewed as a parental figure to their child even if say they're not in said child's life anymore. Since Sesshomaru and Rin share a healthy bond- and just a friendly reminder that in my blog I even said that he doesn't have to necessarily be labeled her father but that a romantic relationship later would still be inappropriate- I didn't deem it necessary to address what you brought up. Plus, it kinda, umm, misses the point?? Please, let's stay on topic. And it's not captured in the screenshot, but stop acting like there isn't a small part of them that idolizes their parents at some point during childhood. Just like you mention later on how it's normal for kids to have innocent crushes on adults that they eventually grow out of? Well, guess what, the same concept applies here. Kids eventually learn that their parents are far from perfect and make mistakes too. Rin is so damn young in the OG series though that we never even get to see her reach that maturity level.
[Snippet 3]
Tumblr media
LOL! Alright, okay, so the "unbreakable bond" bit you're mentioning was actually me quoting you sessrinners. Did you not catch that? I literally spelled it out. *sigh* The whole point I was making is that shippers like yourself make hypocritical and contradictory statements all.the.goddamn.time. One moment you guys claim that Sesshomaru and Rin were essentially strangers and meant very little to each other, only to say in the same breath a few seconds later that they were destined to be together and their bond is like no other. I agree, their bond is special, but why must that mean they're going to fall in love?
That is the root of the matter here. Too many animes/mangas have romanticized this older adult man & young girl growing up falling in love trope that it's become way too normalized and widely accepted across the world- and yes, in some cultures more than others. Sadly, you lack the awareness to recognize how this all works. You know how we know that? When we see that you shippers are so desensitized to sexualized images of girls in the media that you share posts like this one below which *subtly* imply a future romance although one half of that pairing is still just a child in the pic and then try and pass it off as cute. That's like super fucking problematic and it scares me that you can't see that (or deny you do). ๐Ÿคข
Tumblr media
After all that's said and done, Sesshomaru leaving Rin in the village with Kaede is to me the strongest indicator more than pretty much anything else he's done for Rin that proves he is her adoptive father. It's so funny to me how you somehow see the exact opposite though. ๐Ÿค” What I think is happening is that you got yourself on some squeaky clean ass shipper goggles fresh out of your little echo chamber. Because I hate to tell you, but what you're fantasizing is what you want to see and not what's actually there on screen or was written into the story. I'm strictly talking about Inuyasha and the manga of course. [For the TL; DR version skip to the last paragraph.]
Parents looking after their kids is what parents are supposed to do. A good parent will do anything to keep their child safe and ensure they are cared for, so what he did for her by leaving her there was in her best interests clearly. Besides, as a babysitter, you more than most people should understand that parents aren't always able to be there for their kids so sometimes others gotta step in to help. Haven't you heard of the saying, "it takes a village to raise a child?" Which in Rin's case is literally true! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Sometimes kids are even sent off to stay with grandparents and that's who raises them instead. Or maybe they have to temporarily live with an aunt or uncle because their single parent's job requires they work out of town 4-5 days of the week so they're hardly home. But that doesn't mean that the parents care or love their kids any less, and it's foolish to assume that Sesshomaru must have thought very little of Rin simply due to the fact that he made the decision to leave her in the village. Come on, y'all are acting like he abandoned her there!!
It's just given the circumstances Sesshomaru finally came to learn that Rin traveling with him was no longer safe. I also like to think it's because he wished for her to live a more normal life and to learn how to fully trust humans again. Plus, continuing to travel with him as young as she was would have proven dangerous and unwise. Now for you to know all this and still manage to turn his past actions towards her while she was just a child into a romantic gesture is what boggles my mind. Regardless of how you look at it, from my perspective or your own, Sesshomaru is in the wrong. Either he's a father figure who impregnates his daughter at the young age of approximately 14. OR he's this man she used to travel with who maybe isn't a father to her but who nonetheless basically rapes her since kids her age can't consent to sex with an adult. Idk about you but it sounds to me like nobody here wins with either scenario we're given. In other words, you should be just as mad as we are. If only one side didn't choose to forsake their morals they know we both have in common for the sake of a ship. Welp. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ
Tumblr media
I agree, incest is disgusting but that's not the only problem we have with this pairing. A romantic bond forming between Sesshomaru and Rin would also constitute as grooming.
You realize that over the years he visited her in the village that he brought her gifts too and essentially watched her grow up right before his very eyes, right? I mean, I know you do, but I really shouldn't have to explain further why pursuing a romantic/sexual relationship with each other is plain and simple wrong. And before you say it's not because he didn't have any malintent, please understand that considering their history and power dynamic up to then that yes this is still considered grooming even if Rin supposedly "wanted it" or "made the first move." Whether you consider him her father or not, as the adult who took on a role resembling that of a caretaker in her early life- a critical developmental time for a child- Sesshomaru is obligated to turn down any advances by Rin and most definitely should not initiate any himself. As the first close adult figure she's had in her life since her parents died, it's unfathomable to imagine how Sesshomaru could go through with taking advantage of this young girl who was under his care and supervision since they met. To think he could be capable of betraying that trust sickens me to the core.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This. Now THIS is how a parent/guardian or a similar adult caretaker (babysitter, teacher, etc.) talks to a child. And, in turn, this is how some young children talk to adults. You'd be insane and delusional to deny it! We see it in our everyday lives, do we not? From where else do you think our stories draw most of their inspiration? Yes, obviously these fictional universes have aspects of fantasy that don't exist in the real world, but so how then do you suppose we're able to relate to them? The reason for that being is because these stories are written by people for people, so naturally there are going to be real life aspects embedded throughout. Sure, a little escapism doesn't hurt as we don't need to take everything so seriously, but ultimately we all need to recognize that the messages in the stories we tell matter. Most stories possess a combination of both light and dark themes, but when it specifically comes to the latter we gotta be careful with how we tackle this in children's media since kids are far more impressionable.
So if at the center of a story we have two of the main protagonists whose mom is basically their same age and to top it off she knew their dad when she was just a girl and who just so happened to help raise her, wouldn't you say that's beyond fucked up or at the very least so fucking weird? Like why would we think it's even remotely okay for our children to watch this garbage?? Really think about it. Try and be objective for once and think about how it would sound explaining this storyline to an outsider who's never watched IY or HNY. Well, antis have tried this before many times and we always get the same reaction: Ewww!
Like I said earlier, if you wanna ship it then fine, but 1) please stop seeking our approval or trying to change our minds - your ship wish came true didn't it, so why do you need us to validate it? 2) even though it's not canon, respect that we don't support this sequel portraying pedophilia in a positive light. It's harmful af to not only allow but glorify the continuation of sexualized images of young girls everywhere. And I shouldn't have to say this, but just because this trope is popular as you say does not make it right. Lolicon themes in the media have been an issue forever and it needs to stop. Yes, even some people in Japan or "the East" would agree. Shocker!
We're pissed off and rightfully so because Yashahime's TV rating is 14, not to mention it airs at the prime time kids in Japan watch TV after getting home from school. That's Towa and Setsuna's age, true, but if Rin being the mom when she's like only a year older than them (please don't argue w/ me about the math- antis have so far been right every time with it) is straight-up disgusting and not something we should be supporting or endorsing. Rin's a whole ass child!! Please don't start with the "but times were different then so her having kids at 15 is acceptable" argument either, because we've already debunked that and every other single excuse you guys throw at us. Besides, how or why would you expect young viewers to know these historical "facts" anyway, especially if as you suggest fiction doesn't affect reality so what does it matter? Yet here we are, arguing over a fictional show in real life almost a year and a half into the "Sesshomaru fucks?" sequel being announced. My ass, your ass, hell all our asses fiction doesn't affect reality!
Look, I do apologize if the tone of this blog came off as snippy or condescending at times. I do not wish you any ill will, it's just I'm not really sure what you expected to get out of all this besides maybe getting on my nerves perhaps. haha A lot of you shippers have been desperately scrambling to interact with us, lurking in our tags, jumping onto our posts screaming canon and getting so defensive even though you sought us out first. We've been sticking to our tags, so how about you stay in your lane too. By the way since we're on the topic, have you seen Twitter or Reddit?! SR shippers there are the actual worst and many Inuyasha fans (not just antis) have complained of not feeling welcomed to engage in fandom spaces anymore. Shippers swarm them and scare them off simply because fans don't like your ship and refuse to accept it. It's pathetic, really. No one should ever be bullied or harassed just because they don't like something you might. We're all fans of Inuyasha, aren't we? So let's act like it. Yashahime on the other hand, you guys are welcome to that pungent heap of trash. Fans have a right to criticize it too, but if you like it then good for you, so keep on liking it and don't mind us.
Tumblr media
I'm almost done, but real quick back to Jaken! Let's not forget about how the official Yashahime website- which came out after my blog, mind you- described Jaken. This translation isn't the best one available but it's the only version a fellow anti friend could track down. They do recall a better one done by a native Japanese speaker who was also an anti, and that member confirmed that Jaken is indeed called Rin's babysitter. So you see, I was right in my interpretation. In the original post I did compare Jaken to a brother, but after talking to others (some comments can be found under said post) I did acknowledge that he's more of a reluctant babysitter who's not related. And if he's not at least a brother to Rin, then he's definitely not her father.
At the end of the day, the creator Rumiko Takahashi has the final word. Which is guess what? Hogosha. ๐Ÿ’– Probably should've just started out with that and saved us all the trouble, huh? Good day/night to you.
Papamaru bids you adieu now. ๐Ÿคž

If you could rewrite yashahime what would you change as far as the plot and storylines?
OH BOY THE QUESTION THAT LITERALLY EVERYONE IN THIS FANBASE HAS WONDERED SINCE S1
and this is like. actually hard for me. which is odd bc i'm so invested in Towa Higurashi's character in general and like to think a lot of her but i've never done an extensive AU idea of how to rewrite Yashahime, bc until the clustfuck of the Grim Comet Arc at the very end of S2 i was mostly fine with things i just wished they had did it better, but
Towa not bringing back Setsuna right away. i may be biased but i fucking HATE when storylines do this. when a character dies at the end of an episode or story chapter, and we don't get the next one for MONTHS later, and they're immediately brought back. Guild Wars 2 did this shit too and i HAAAATE it. i feel like it should've been active endeavor, something that should've taken 4-6 episodes to complete. there should have been a mini arc that focused on Towa's efforts to make Tenseiga truly her own sword (like Inuyasha did with Tessaiga with slaying Ryukotsusei) to be able to bring back Setsuna and allow Towa to retain ownership of Tenseiga, a sword which suits her nature more than Sesshomaru's, a sword that Sesshomaru no longer needs. Rin, Tenseiga, and Kagura were the instrumental catalysts of Sesshomaru's growth: i think it would've been incredibly fitting for his daughter, who is more oriented on helping people in general compared to her father to have proven she is a worthy holder of the sword and for it to be her's. i REALLY like Zanseiken but i think her relying primarily on Kikujumonji would've been just fine. this one gets me heated and it's not even Yashahime's fault specifically this is just a trope in writing i fucking hate. don't kill off a character at the end of a book then next year when the next book comes out they're healed in chapter 1. if i ever do this as an author i will consider this my ultimate failing
delve more into Towa's mental health. i fucking LOVED when they actually addressed "hey Towa. you're traumatized and your obsession with protecting Setsuna when she really doesn't need it and has told you that to your face is a direct result of your coping with trauma and that's not really good." i always have this little ritowa scene in my head revolving around Towa like "I want to protect everyone. That is my goal... so... why don't we compromise, Riku-kun? I'll protect everyone... and you'll protect me." like, Towa finding a more healthy middle ground for her ambitions, although i DO love that by the end, during the Grim Comet, it's explicitly clear she wants to protect everyone. maybe this was bc of the rumors of s3 getting axed but i sincerely love how we saw Towa's desires to protect evolve from just Setsuna to the whole world.
keep Kirinmaru's personality more aligned with his S1 personality, although i still like the idea of using Zanseiken or something else as a trap to kill Towa to resurrect Rion. i really love Rion and i really love how much of a dark parallel to Sesshomaru that Kirinmaru was and his own willingness to essentially betray his sense of pride and honor for his daughter, but i still think IN GENERAL AS A WHOLE he should've kept his more prideful and honorable personality. i would've loved to see him clearly disgusted with himself for how cowardly his own plan is with Towa while also refusing to stop
do more with Rion i fucking love Rion so much DO MORE WITH RION. NOBODY EVER DRAWS TOWA/RION. I WANT MORE RION CONTENT IDK WHAT IT WOULD'VE BEEN BUT I WANTED MOR RION.
give Osamu Kirin a consistent ideology and ultimate master plan. him being Towa's final boss and ultimate personal ultimate enemy when Sesshomaru deals with Kirinmaru. that fight when she has to take him on in human form was great, i just think Osamu really needed his. own ideology to be consistent (i still don't mind him having gone back on his own goals in favor of making Rion the new King however)
keep Rin's general writing more in-line with her scenes of holding Bakusaiga to her neck and standing up to Kirinmaru for the sake of the kids. idk what exactly but i would've done SOMETHING that gave her an important job that she pulled off, like something that if not done would've fucked everyone over
actually have Meido Zangetsuha be plot relevant and used once Inuyasha gets out of the pearl like Jaken said it would back in S1
Moroha getting Meido Zangetsuha somehow. Meido Zangetsuha is cool. Moroha is cool. Moroha using Meido Zangetsuha would've been really cool. it could've played into the theme of inheritance from your parents, i think!
honestly Rion being a more proper conflict as a final conflict if they delved into her personality more also would've been good, even if Osamu was the true final villain
the Tree of Ages being a villain like what was apparently originally planned. i remember once during S1 i had this entire deal where Sesshomaru had made a pact with the Tree to take both twins to the modern era in safety only for Treekyo to completely fuck him over and only do it with Towa and telling Towa to her face that in her eyes she was just a backup in case things went wrong and she always meant for Setsuna to do this shit alone basically
so yeah- i don't know how much i would absolutely rewrite, i'd just want more focus on things

You know what's sad? I actually actually hope Rin dies in this series and stays dead. Not because I hate her, quite the opposite actually.I love Rin I am a huge Rin stan. I think she's an adorable little girl and who had such potential and wanted for her the happiest of futures. When I heard that there was a generation 2 of Inuyasha coming out I was so excited to see who Rin grew up to be.
I had always thought she would be Kagome's apprentice, who specializes in healing, both human and demon, thanks to her bonds with Kaede and Sesshomaru. Kaede is how she will learn about healing humans and her bond with sesshomaru would give her the drive to learn how to heal demons. With her own fighting style that was a mix of demon slayer fighting from Sango and Kohaku and archery/holy fighting from Kagome & Miroku. Just incase she needed to defend herself.
KohRin is also my flag ship and I had always had it in my mind that she would marry Kohaku, have like three kids, with Grandpamaru comming to visit. But I was also happy if she didn't fall in love and stayed a single pringle as well and have awesome adventures.
There was sooo much she could have become and I was ecstatic to see what they had done with her.
But then Yashahime came out and when I saw that she had become the bride of Sesshomaru, had his twins, then was cast asside like a broken doll having accomplished nothing but being a baby factory. Made me cry.
Everything that she could have become. All the stories they could have made with her in them. All the potential she had... completely flushed down the toilet. Seeing her sleeping with in the tree with nothing but having babies. Was the worst thing to have been done to her. No one loves or even cares that she is even gone. Some don't even remember that she even exsisted. The only reminder of her presence is her and Sesshomaru's daughters. That from the what I had seen of the anime,Sesshomaru didn't even care about.
Rin was distroyed. True they have made a season two that from what I have seen here on tumbler had given her the smallest of personalities but she was instantly cursed to die and thrown into the tree seven days after giving birth. ((A curse that if her love with Sesshomaru was actually real would have never happened in the first place. For the true OG sesshomaru would have never have let Zero live if she had so much as even thought about hurting his loved one. He would have taken her head from her shoulders before she even had the chance to curse Rin.))
They have taken everything from her. She is the most tragic character in this whole series. A little girl who lost her parents to bandits. Lost her life to wolves. Then was cursed to continuously die and revive by the hands of demons. Her only biological family torn from her side before she even had the chance to hold them. A husband who can care less about if she's alive or dead and a future that holds nothing for her but being a perfect subservient wife and brood mother. Her chance to be a doctor, a demon slayer a priestess. Ripped from her before she even had the chance to lose all of her baby teeth.
I hope Rin dies in this anime so that she can finally be released from the curse that is her life and giving the chance to reincarnate like Kikiyo did and live a life that she deserves. One were she's happy, loved and can become the Queen she deserves to be.
But..I know that won't happen. Sunrise will find a way to keep her alive and she will wake up from her cursed slumber and instantly be the airheaded, subservient wife that forgives everything that happened and only wants to love her lord. Be at his beck and call ready to bare him a new hord of Hanyo children with a smile. For that's all she is good for. Untill the next Yokai comes along and tries to kill her once more.
I am sorry,Rin......

Some little headcanons I have for the kiddos. Simply for fun and because while I despise the direction the anime took, these four had potential that was wasted.
Some brief notes: Towa and Setsuna are SessKagu twins, Rin grew up and became a healer. She later married Kohaku and they moved to the Demon Slayer village and had children.
Towa and Setsuna are Sesskaguโ€™s only children as their birth was dangerous. But they have a big family w/ InuKag and MirSan.
Kirinmaru happened when the twins and Moroha were four and ended two years later. They have since lived in peace and just had some adventures. Zero, Rion and Riku never existed while Kirinmaruโ€™s reason for wanting to fight was for territorial reasons.
Tuna twins first (I remember seeing this fun little nickname in the earlier episodes of YH, but canโ€™t remember who coined it):
Towa ๐Ÿ’–
Tumblr media
She is kind, but is also crass. Unlike Setsuna who is reserved and tries to maintain some modesty, Towa is โ€œAttack first, ask questions laterโ€ She also has a foul mouth because of Kagura and Inuyasha.
That usually results in Jaken yelling at her and getting smacked by Kagura.
She uses masculine pronouns and is usually assumed at first glance to be male since she prefers menโ€™s clothing.
Gay ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ but still grasping who is aside from that. Being the daughter of a demon lord and also granddaughter to a former big bad really makes her question herself.
Rin is her mentor growing up and her confidant when she needs her.
As a teenager, she worked with swords. Her father, uncle and paternal grandfather did so it should work for her right?
She later settled on fans like her mother and knives.
She keeps her hair short until her twenties, growing it to her mid back. It eventually becomes wavy like Kaguraโ€™s.
The red of her eyes darkens over the years. Her eyes go from reddish-brown to magenta during her teen years before settling on the crimson hue her mother and grandfather Naraku are known for.
She strongly resembles her father when enraged: snarl and all. She even gets his glare down to the T by 17. Jaken cried himself to sleep the day he was on the end of a triple stare down from the twins and Sesshomaru.
Kagura affectionally calls her โ€˜spider lilyโ€™ because of her eyes.
She remains single until her 30s, through she does have lovers on and off.
The best way to sum of her and her wifeโ€™s entire relationship is essential HaruMichi from Sailor Moon except Towa winds up flustered more times than she can count during their courtship.
Setsuna ๐Ÿ’œ
Tumblr media
Setsuna is the more polite twin. Inuyasha has stated she follows in Sesshomaruโ€™s footsteps of being reserved.
She also follows his speech pattern of announcing herself as โ€œThis Setsunaโ€ in an almost arrogant tone.
She was trained by Sango to fight, as was Towa.
She is asexual and aromatic. She doesnโ€™t view love as she something she needs but acknowledges that itโ€™s others seem to want and have. She however, enjoys being alone.
While Towa grows her hair out as an adult, Setsuna cuts her shorter and wears it in a fashion similar to her motherโ€™s.
She and Moroha have a friendly rivalry and while she claims to hate it, she secretly enjoys when her cousin calls her โ€˜Setsuโ€™.
Rin calls her Secchan.
Hisui is her brother in everything but blood. She also warns him that if he ever hurts Moroha, she wonโ€™t hesitate to hurt him.
KinGyo had a bet going on if Hisui would marry either Setsuna or Moroha. Kinโ€™u wound up winning the bet.
She and Moroha enjoy teasing Towa when she becomes smitten with her future wife.
Sesshomaru affectionally calls her a wind spirit.
Now onto my favorite girl:
Moroha โค๏ธ
Tumblr media
Inuyasha dots on her. She is his first born and eldest daughter, and they always have little moments between them.
Inuyasha nuzzles her head.
Kagome taught her about herbal remedies, and she sought out Jenji when she was fourteen to learn more.
She is close with her cousins, and has a friendly rivalry with Setsuna.
Inuyasha gifted her a robe of the fire rat when she was eleven. Kagome gave her a bow and quiver a year later for her twelfth birthday.
She grew up with the MirSan brunch. KinGyo are her older sister figures while Hisui is her best friend and confidant.
She often calls him clueless when it comes to women flirting with him.
She often ignores the pain her chest when Hisui actually flirts back.
Because her life was spent in their company, she is just as ๏ฟผmischievous as the KinGyo twins.
Kouga basically calls her his daughter, much to Inuyashaโ€™s ire.
She has a younger brother named Hige and a sister named after her grandmother, Izayoi. Hige was born when she was 4 and Izayoi when she was 7.
While she loves slaying demons, she settled into the role of village priestess after Rin married Kohaku and Kagome settled into raising her siblings.
She and Hisui fell in love in their late teens to early twenties.
She was 19 when she got married, while Hisui was 21. They had their first child, a boy, two years later.
Moroha saved Towaโ€™s future wife during a demon slaying mission.
She was able to meet her maternal family once. She was four months pregnant with her son when she was drawn to the well and went through.
She named her son after Kagomeโ€™s father.
Moroha outlives her husband and children, and even two generations of grandkids.
In an ode to her parents, she died resting against the Tree of Ages, surrounded by her cousins, uncle and aunt.
Hisui ๐Ÿ’š
Tumblr media
Took up demon slaying after being inspired by his mother and uncle.
He was gifted Hiraikotsu when he was eleven years old.
Has a much better relationship with his father than in the actual canon.
A bit clueless when it comes to women flirting with him. Heโ€™s a soft hearted young man, but he isnโ€™t afraid to take care of his sisters and younger siblings.
The middle child and the oldest boy. Between his older sisters, and his younger brothers, someone has to be the Mom sibling.
There was period of seven years where he didnโ€™t see Moroha or the Tuna twins. He was off demon slaying and forging his own path. He was 18 when he reunited with the three.
Hisui is his motherโ€™s son when it comes to romance. He develops a crush on Moroha and doesnโ€™t know how to handle it. So he usually keeps quiet but oh boy does he get jealous.
The moment he realizes he wants to marry Moroha, he sits Inuyasha down and asks for permission to court her. The hanyo is flabbergasted but he doesnโ€™t make it easy (at first) but he folds a month in because he knows Hisui is a good kid.
He proposes in a similar fashion to his father. And like when his parents got engaged, Towa, Setsuna, KinGyo and their parents are all listening in.
He is a nervous wreck when he learns he is going to be a father.
He and Moroha have three children: two sons and a daughter.
Hisui was 84 when he died, surrounded by his family. He was also the first one to greet Moroha in the afterlife.
