I'm seeing a post circulating that claims uber / lyft / rideshare is gutting public transit.
That may be true, but public transit is already being gutted. Uber / lyft / rideshare are actually bridging the gap for people who cannot afford to buy a car or take a taxi.
If waiting for transportation can take up to 2 hours, and you cannot predict when the next bus will be because the bus services refuse to follow the schedule or refuse to update when the schedule has changed, people will use another service to get to where they need to go.
If most places you want to go to are not on a bus route and necessitates you walking 30 minutes after getting off the bus on a GOOD day, people will use another service.
If bus drivers are assholes and will kick you off the bus for no apparent reason (usually after you've already paid), won't stop when someone needs to get off or on at bus stops, or become abusive towards you, people will use another service.
Do people think we want to pay $30 out the ass when we can pay $5?
No.
We don't.
Public transportation already sucks. City planning and the current transport system has already failed us. Don't shame people into giving up a service that they need.

[ID 1: a headline that says, “Uber, Lyft to pay Mass. drivers $32 minimum wage during rides under $175 million settlement.” Below that, it says “Updated June 27, 2024” and “By Chris Lisinski, State House News Service.”
ID 2: a tweet by More Perfect Union (@MorePerfectUS) that says, “Massachusetts Uber and Lyft drivers are about to get a minimum wage of $32.50/hr while driving. To settle a lawsuit brought by AG Andrea Campbell the companies will pay drivers $175m, implement this wage, and give some drivers money for health insurance, paid sick time, & more.” End ID.]

It finally happened in my city…I saw what is 99% a fake cab. I was waiting for the bus, and a car honked at me and gestured to the vehicle. It had a white decal that said “Uber/Lyft phone #” and no lights or stickers that they usually have in the front window. A big old can of nope.
#it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a fake#also if you are a rideshare newbie: always use the apps for Uber or Lyft#(they’re also not the same company!)#and taxis will have official phone numbers and sites to book#they also have official stands/waiting places#please don’t get into a random car and get mugged

planning for my airport trip tomorrow and bracing myself for evil crack of dawn transit issues, so i wishfully went to rideshare apps to see what it would cost to schedule a pickup and reader? nothing under $75.
#remember when an Uber across a city was $16 and you were like ‘oof steep…!’#anyways lots of rideshare complaints from me this week lol#it’s so rare that I’ll use one that my phone archives the apps regularly#which is probably why I’m extremely man yelling at cloud about it

the extreme dopamine rush of having Finished The Goddamn Painting. vs the need to keep it under wraps for a lil while bc it's for a zine heheheheheheh i pulled an allnighter which i hadn't done for not-gaming purposes since uni. the results are:
kinda nice
the absolute fuckoff biggest giant fucking file i've ever worked on both in terms of total pixel area & layers. i think this might even be print material?????? idk if anyone would like. want to acquire it. considering the figurative dog comic flames all around us. but yes it's a thing that would theoretically look nice printed out. and that could be done at Considerable Size
IT'S ACTUALLY FINISHED. for the first time in years. it's not a nice looking WIP or a dressed up doodle i sat my ass down and rendered like my life depended on it
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
#viitalks#AS PER USUAL i had plany off time until i didn't#also i need to go to the office today hhhhurrhhghghghgg#whatever. worth it.#but. i can't get a free peaceful ride bc my coworker's new used car is still at the mechanic's so i need to be Awake and Aware#of the rideshare guy bc the app insists on making them take the worst goofiest routes#so..... idk quarter of an edible save me? save me edible?#for some reason if i'm not already groggy the gummies make me less likely to get sleeby sooooooo#anyway guess i need to go eat something bc i'm ungodly hungry & then get ready to crush that 9-to-5 girlboss style wow#(💀💀💀 i'm gonna be in something resembling catatonia all day Due To Woke and due also to the v predictable consequencies of my actions)

RideBoom is the first and fastest on-demand bootstrap company getting customers' and drivers' support.
RideBoom is a unique on-demand rideshare app that includes taxis, bikes, and parcel delivery.
RideBoom is available in more than five cities in India and successfully try the Australian market in the past with its MVP and according to the founder, it was a great success.
The world longest covid lockdown in Austrlia makes RideBoom to move to India. RideBoom wants to become the most affordable on-demand rideshare platform in the market and that is the reason it’s the fastest-growing ride-share app and the most favorable in the minds of users and drivers.
The RideBoom doesn’t hire the top nudge executive and managers because according to the founder “ no one knows your business better than you” and it's true we can’t afford them also.
Our main concern is to win the customer's trust and let them decide who is the better in the market.

#mine#two solid months of auditory overstimulation got me looking at realtor sites again#renting is cheaper but I'm trying to get Away from shared walls and plus I'm still traumatised by the bug infestation#but houses here have lots of yard that is utterly useless to me and I'd have to join an HOA if I want anywhere that I don't hafta landscape#on top of it all I have to decide if it's rly worth shelling out for transportation#if I weren't a fucking vampire I could just walk but noooooo 🙄 I have to become gravely ill after ten minutes in the sun 🙄#doctor appointments are starting to calm down tho so I won't need to leave the house as much maybe#... *sigh* ik rn I wanna bury myself in a ground hovel somewhere but I am also worried I'll just be trapped again#but this time more expensive bc I'll be alone#I don't want roommates I want to be in control of when I socialise#but irl I don't know how to do that and it'll be a Lot harder on my own I think bc of the lack of transport#... I mean... my plan is to use a rideshare app. which is abt as realiable as mum. so maybe I'm just overthinking#there's also the matter of previewing locations... that'll be tricky bc I will need mum for that and there's no guarantee she won't ...#do the most. ig.

Story Concept: Star-crossed lovers, destined to fall in love but be kept apart, except they don't actually have any interest in each other, the stars are just super obsessed with shipping them for some reason.
#the stars want them to have a doomed romance but they have to fall in love first#so they keep having every possible romantic meet-cute#they both have to look both ways before leaving any coffee shop to make sure they're not about to bump into the other#if one of them decides to go on vacation the other will just randomly be there for unrelated reasons#they end up in the same car on rideshare apps on at least a weekly basis#and every time they're just like 'oh hey... you again...'#and the stars are up there chanting 'kiss! kiss! kiss!' but the two are just kinda sitting awkwardly in their uber#like 'you seem nice but I'm not really into that'#'oh yeah me either'#they also don't actually have that much in common#so they become sort of acquaintances but never really close friends#meanwhile there are already 10k fics about them on A3O#(archive of arcane astrological orbs)#they do sometimes dogsit for each other#in part because it's really convenient knowing that they can pick any dog park to walk to and the other will randomly be there#later on they turn out to have a mutual friend who's an engineer and part-time con artist#and she figures out how to exploit the random factors that lead to them always running into each other to win big on the stock market#turns out they can make pretty much anything happen if they're careful about choosing where to go based on seemingly random factors#the three start an investment business together and help fund hundreds of clean energy and community revitalization projects#and slowly change the world for the better#they call their business 'The Star-Shipped Enterprise'
