Hi! I read your blogs about Rick & Grooming, and I'm SHOCKED. I have a question considering Evil Morty: taking into consideration that he was basically mind raping Evil Rick, that he already had the parts of SOME kind of mind-control implant inside his own head when he decided to attack Evil Rick, and that he thought strapping naked Mortys on a dome was Not That Big A Deal... is the implication here that in his case the (allegorical) abuse went one step further, or am I reading this wrong?

First of all, sorry for the super delayed response. To answer your question, it's possible!

We haven't gotten explicit confirmation that Evil Morty's life was any different from Morty Prime's, which I think is supposed to make the audience suspect that Morty Prime has the ability to become like Evil Morty in the future.

But the impression I get from the flashback scene at the beginning of Unmortricken is that Evil Morty was highly familiar with the Citadel's practices of raising Mortys to be slaves of Ricks. He might have even been a Morty clone himself who was raised on the Citadel rather than one who was born naturally like Morty Prime.

Your point about how Evil Morty seems to have already had a mind control chip in his head also suggests a former life on the Citadel, as the game Pocket Mortys is based around the concept of the Citadel mind controlling Mortys with a "manipulator chip."

It would make sense if Morty figured out how to use this technology against his assigned Rick and then used his knowledge of the Citadel's inner workings to carry out his plan to destroy the Central Finite Curve.

As for the detail of Evil Morty controlling his Rick to torture a bunch of naked Mortys, I genuinely believe this was meant to be suggestive of both sexual abuse and physical abuse within the greater Rick and Morty dynamic, even if it was done for comedic effect.

In Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind, Rick even says "looks like payday at Neverland Ranch in here," referencing the allegations of Michael Jackson's sexual abuse of children at his amusement park. I mean it's pretty blatant.

The episode also does a brief callback to the scene from the simulation episode where Rick tells Morty to undress with him in the shower, once again recalling a similar joke with the new context that it may be one of Rick's most cherished memories of Morty.

So no, I don't think you're entirely off-base to think Evil Morty's desensitization to seeing himself stripped down and tortured points to a more extreme level of abuse than Morty Prime experienced with C-137. Especially since C-137 is increasingly being portrayed as a more emotional kind of Rick who has the capacity to change.

Cotton Candy

The cotton candy melted on his tongue, coating it with a sickening sweet flavor. He had always liked cotton candy, most children do. Funny enough, Rick also liked cotton candy. He would even sneak in a bag or two at night to share with him, even when he wasn't supposed to have sweets after bedtime.

Don't tell your mom about this, Morty. It'll be our little secret.

So, of course he didn't. What kid would pass up an opportunity to be able to do whatever they want, whenever they want. Rick was kind of like a kid in that aspect.

It used to be fun, but now Morty wishes Rick had never started this little mission. The candy was starting to taste bitter to him, leaving an awful aftertaste in his mouth. Rick said that was normal though, he would get used to it in time. He sometimes wondered if Rick had ever tasted candy as bitter as this before, or if it was just him.

Lock the door, Morty. We don't won't anymore walking in on us, now do we?

No, he didn't. He might get in trouble, and he didn't want to get in trouble, even though it was Rick who brought the cotton candy in the first place. Besides, he couldn't share this candy with anyone, no matter how much he wanted to, because this was only meant for him and Rick to share.

Sometimes, he would bring other stuff too, chocolates, lollipops, and gumdrops. He also brought weird, white powdery stuff that would make Morty dizzy and sick. Rick was nice though and didn't make fun of him when he threw up the first time.

But he continued to urge Morty on, getting him take it little by little every time he visited. And Morty always got a treat afterwards, even if he didn't want one.

You're a big boy now, so you get to try big boy things with grandpa.

But out of all the candies, cotton candy was still his favorite. He liked the texture; it was soft like his bedsheets. He never realized how silky smooth they were under him before. The fabric was always cool and soft when he clenched it in his little hands, and it didn't hurt his back from the friction and sharp movements going through his body.

He washed them regularly because he couldn't stand dirty bedding, he had to wash them every day now but that was okay, the flowery smell was much better than the smell of cigarette smoke that came from his grandfather's body. Rick always praised him for being such a clean boy. Too bad he didn't feel clean.

It was always hard eating candy in the dark, so Rick had made him light-up stars to hang on his ceiling. He liked to look at them when he shared his candy with Rick. They were in just the right position over his grandfather's shoulder that he could see them perfectly. Everything else disappeared for a while as long as he looked up at those bright, shiny stars.

You really like those, don't you Morty. How about you show me how much you appreciate them.

Rick smelled like cotton candy too, but it was slightly off. Rick didn't seem to notice it. He couldn't understand how though, it was so overpowering he was surprised no one else could smell it at the dinner table or when they were watching tv in the living room. It was too sweet of a smell; he didn't like it.

Rick just laughed at him, told him he was imagining things from all the sweets he ate. Rick liked to joke that he was as sweet as candy; maybe that's why Rick liked tasting him so much. Sharp bites to the flesh by his throat and torso, followed by a soft tongue sliding over the open wounds. Sticky, gooey, corn syrup blood.

Does it really bother you that much? I thought you liked the sweets I brought you.

He did like them, that's why is mouth always tasted like cotton candy. Too bad it was ruined by the taste of alcohol.

No, because I just thought it was 2 weirdos I met on Reddit but there is a disturbing amount of people saying that Rick is grooming Morty for sexual reasons and...WHAT?! Don't get me wrong, Rick is incredibly fucked up and is a horrible person, not denying that, but he is not a disgusting fucking creep. He would never do anything sexual to Morty and has shown to murder any adult who did/tried to do that to Morty (Except for the women who do that for whatever reason they just get a pass ig) I understand some non-rickorty shippers believe that Rick is grooming Morty for non-sexual reasons, and I don't exactly agree with that especially since we never see that stages throughout the show but ig if we did I missed them. All Rick’s and Morty’s from ζ(Zeta) dimensions have evolutionary deviances, most commonly seen within hybrid species evolution or alternate taxonomy deviation. Making them high standing in the Citadel’s social hierarchy, but they are still below α(Alpha) and β(Beta) dimensions. The ζ dimensional code is rare, there is usually no more than a handful of Rick and Morty’s with these codes actively at the citadel at a time. However there is a large number of them registered with the citadel, they are simply elusive and tend not to stray far from their dimensions. Subsections of these dimensions (ζ***-B, ζ***-C, etc.) signify deviance in species/sub-species, like dog breeds or coat colors. Most of these subsections do not meet the requirements to belong to the central finite curve, thus making them extremely rare within the Citadel Database.

That is why when Rick ζ92 received a letter from the Citadel’s Morty Pound requesting his immediate presence to come to pick up his Morty, his worry melted into confusion. He could feel his heart pounding against his breastbone, blood thumping against his eardrum. His wings flared and flexed as feathers moved up and down. Turning around, he stares at his grandson with pin-pointed pupils. Eyebrows furrowed and head tilted, with literal neck feathers ruffled as he spoke up.

“Morty, why does the pound say they have a winged Morty on the verge of a panic-induced heart attack?.”

The brown-haired boy looked up at him in shock, black and brown feather wings reflexively flexing open in his defense. Small taloned hands open moving in a pleading manner, shoulders raised high.

“I do- I don’t know Rick, I am right here…. Geez I don’t- You don’t think they made a mistake?”

Hey man, I saw you fighting for your life arguing with people, so I'd like to add something you're crucially missing from your arguments: that no government entity recognizes animation or art of fictional characters as CSEM.

Also, most organizations that handle reports for CSEM actually ask people NOT to report content like what you're calling that girl a pedophile for, because it clogs up their reports and makes it harder for them to get to the legitimate claims. There is zero evidence to support your claims here. Beyond that....

Karkalicious769 actually isn't attracted to Morty. She's mentioned this in her comments - along with the fact that it's the age gap making Rickorty appealing, not his age or status as a child. It's about the power imbalance involved, not the fact that he's a child.

Your entire argument is flimsy at beat and your defenses have been "well I quoted a government website AND you didn't read my argument!". Get off Tumblr if this content upsets you, buddy.

The key word in this sentence is lasciviously which essentially means sexually. They also said that applies to all post they make that are disgusting. For example they have posts that involve just minors( not just rick and morty) and another minor, and based off of that screen shot they have thought “extensively” and “lasciviously” about sexual scenarios involving minors. Which is still pedophilic, which was my entire point. I gave plenty of resources and evidence as to why it’s problematic yet you don’t have anything backing up what you’re saying. And I did not say that she should be jailed. I stated that she was indeed a pedophile, and pedophilia is something that can be treated with therapy sessions and actively encouraged her to get a therapist. The source that I used to was from a government website which is literally the best source you can use, as long it is up to date, and was used as a point to prove that fictional scenarios like this are consider problematic by professionals. Even if they were only attracted to the power dynamic, spreading that dynamic is damaging to people’s mental, and might give minors a skewed perspective of what a healthy relationship looks like. This is why I said people weren’t reading my argument because I covered this in it 😭

Top three ships?

Thanks for the ask! Harrymort is 100% my number one. The character dynamic is so interesting and i love exploring the possible angst or love that comes along with it.

Number one and a half is tomarry, i say one an a half because its sort of the same ship, but its not. Even though tom and Voldemort are technically the same person, theyre so different in how they act, their tactics and the time period too. I love time travel tomarry fics.

Number two is probably fred x george weasley, i call it weasley twincest. I love them because its so interesting to have two people who know each other so well try to navigate a taboo situation. Theyre siblings, which is wrong, but they know each other like they know themselves, so why shouldnt they be together?

Number three is squip x jeremy from be more chill. I used to be a hardcore shipper of this, not as much now but i still love it. The squip is a computer that lives inside jeremys brain, and its sort of like a built in chatgpt that helps jeremy through life. It was my number 1 ship for years before it got dethroned by harrymort lol.

Honorable mentions are billdip (gravity falls), connor RK-800/reader (detroit become human), rickorty (rick/morty), and narrator/stanley (the stanley parable). These are all ships that i have/still do ship, just not as much as the top 3.

Rick Sanchez & The Stages of Grooming (6/6)

Stage 6: Maintaining Control

Once sexual abuse is occurring, perpetrators commonly use secrecy, blame, and threats to maintain the child’s participation and continued silence. In order to maintain control, perpetrators use emotional manipulation; they make the child believe they are the only person who can meet their emotional and material needs. The child may feel that the loss of the relationship, or the consequences of exposing it, will be more damaging and humiliating than continuing the unhealthy relationship.

"If you tell anyone, we both could go to jail, We won't be able to be together." Or "If you tell anyone, something bad could happen to your family." (x)

Secrecy & Threats

As we know, Rick’s goal from the start is to get Morty to go on adventures with him and make him his partner/sidekick. When he realizes that Beth and Jerry could kick him out if they knew that he was endangering their son’s life and using him, he threatens Morty with “you’re going to keep your mouth shut about [the adventures], Morty.” 

Keep in mind this happens in the pilot after the mega seeds incident. So this secrecy between them is something that Rick sets up from the get-go, even though it falls through pretty quickly as the family gets increasingly involved in the adventures themselves.

Rick then says “the world is full of idiots who don’t understand what’s important, and they’ll tear us apart, Morty. The outside world is our enemy, Morty. We’re the only friends we’ve got, Morty.”

Here Rick is creating an ‘us vs. them’ mentality to convince Morty not to betray him by telling his parents what happens during their adventures. He then threatens Morty that the world will tear them apart if they are found out. He’s using the emotional closeness he’s fostered against him to say that if Morty tells anyone he will lose the close connection the two of them have.

This scene is… very peculiar when compared to how nonchalant Rick acts most of the time. But this was also the pilot episode where Rick’s characterization was noticeably different from how it later became. In the beginning he was much less level-headed, more careless, and made impulsive decisions. But since in the same episode he almost blew up the world, it’s fair to say his behavior was affected since he was at a mental breaking point.

We don’t get to see this particular secretive and oppressive side of Rick again until the season 3 premiere, after he manages to get Beth to side with him over Jerry. With the parents’ divorce in progress, Rick immediately gets Morty alone to tell him about how much darker their adventures will become now that he is “the de facto patriarch of your family and your universe.” He insists that even if Morty tells anyone about what Rick is saying they won’t believe him.

“I just took over the family, Morty! And if you tell your mom or sister I said any of this I’ll deny it, and they’ll take my side because I’m a hero, Morty! And now you’re going to have to go and do whatever I say, Morty! Forever!”

Through this scene, Rick instills a sense of hopelessness in Morty by asserting that he will always be the most powerful, he will always be in charge, and he will always get his way. So when he tells Morty that he has to do whatever he says, it is just as much of a threat that he can turn whoever Morty tells against him - similar to how the fear of Rick leaving turned Beth against Jerry. It’s blackmail.

Blame

On top of the threats, there is also the fact that Rick tends to blame Morty for any mishaps in their adventures. For example, in Rick Potion #9, even after making multiple supposed mistakes and Cronenberging humanity, Rick acts like the whole thing is Morty’s fault for wanting a love potion in the first place. He calls Morty a “creep” to shame him even though Rick should have just refused Morty’s request in the first place if he thought it was so wrong.

Rick projecting and blaming others for his own faults comes up multiple times in the series. If The ABCs of Beth is anything to go by, Rick also did this with Beth. He insults her by saying she was a “scary kid” for the trouble she got into with the dangerous gadgets he agreed to make her as a child, deflecting every accusation that Beth throws his way.

Their argument is a testament to Rick’s selfishness and refusal to reflect inward to challenge his own flaws, probably because he is scared of what he’ll find out about himself. This may be changing due to season 5’s finale, but we have yet to see how Rick actually develops based on his acknowledgement of the abusive relationship he has with Morty. 

Another instance that Rick shifts blame onto Morty is after he, Summer, and Morty are forced into a soul orgy with the slut dragons in Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim's Morty. Even though Rick is the one who gave Morty the dragon, he yet again blames the incident on Morty for daring to ask for something. 

Let me offer greater context to let this sink in... Rick blames Morty for their shared incestuous sexual experience despite the fact that Morty was the one to protest the most beforehand. Rick places the seed in Morty’s mind that it’s his own fault that he feels dirty, because he was the initiator of the adventure. He “asked” for it, even though Morty had no way of knowing that events would unfold the way they did.

Rick’s shady secretive side also returns in this episode when he tells Morty and Summer “maybe don’t tell your parents we did this” during the orgy. So it seems there are certain things Rick still expects his grandchildren to keep quiet about. And in Rattlestar Ricklactica he shows he isn’t above using physical violence to punish Morty for disobeying his orders.

Morty’s Trauma Bond

Forgetting Sarick Mortshall and Rickmurai Jack show Morty’s unhealthy attachment to Rick even after all of the physical and emotional abuse he has suffered. Despite everything, those episodes prove that Morty does value their relationship and doesn’t want to be apart from him. In other words, Morty shows symptoms of being in a trauma bond.

When Rick temporarily leaves Morty for the crows, Morty is desperate to get back together with him. And even when Beth tells Morty to stand up for himself and demand to be treated better, he says he doesn’t care if Rick’s abuse continues as long as they can be partners again. So of course we never see Morty tell anyone about the things Rick wants him to keep secret. Rick has successfully made Morty completely reliant on him for connection and companionship.

In conclusion, Morty is fine remaining under Rick’s control because Rick intentionally conditioned him to be that way. In the season 5 finale, Rick even makes a half-joking comment about how Mortys really are “bred for forgiveness” after his Morty chooses to stay with him instead of escaping the Citadel as it’s being destroyed. 

Though it can be argued that Morty wasn’t “bred” in the same way that the Citadel Mortys were, Rick’s comment nonetheless insinuates that this forgiveness was something groomed into him by a Rick. And if you ask me, it was likely C-137 himself.

Just to be clear this entire post is just me angrily ranting about how much I hate rickorty because I need to get this off of my chest because I see rickorty posts even though I have the tag blocked.

Excuse me gonna go on a rant. Rickorty is not only gross for the obvious reasons *cough* pedophilia, age gap, and literally shipping a boy with his abusive grandpa *Cough* but also it makes zero sense for the characters??? Rick is canonically uncomfortable with physical touch when it comes to Morty (Tensing up whenever Morty hugs him), so why would he do anything with Morty?? Not to mention that the dude is not that fucked up, he wouldn't do that to Morty, dude is canonically against child predators, he's shown to be against them multiple times throughout the show (Including outright killing Mr. Jellybean and trying to drown Joseph Campbell when he thought he did something to Morty) speaking of which, Morty has canon trauma due to Mr. Jellybean?? And Rickorty shippers will pretend like he doesn't?? That makes the ship extra gross for me :) Dude has legit trauma from attempted r*pe and you'll try to show Rick and Morty having a sweet cute relationship when Morty has trauma from attempted r*pe??? And that Rick killed the person who attempted to r*pe Morty?? Not only that, it is an unbelievably lazy way to analyze their dynamic, do people not understand that someone can be jealous, controlling, codependent and possessive of someone...and it doesn't have to be romantic? Yes Rick get jealous when it comes to Morty, yes he's controlling, yes he's codepedent, yes he's possessive, but it shows us that these aren't stricly romantic traits. They are toxic yes, but they are purely familial and platonic. Also just to end this post off with a quick counterargument that fucking drives me crazy

"Rick and Morty aren't even grandpa and grandson! Morty is Rick Prime's grandson!"

What?? You realize all Ricks have the same dna right? So while Morty isn't Rick's original Morty since Rick never had a Morty, they are still related genetically, as it shows in "Rick Potion #9" Rick is related to Morty genetically since he wasn't affected by the love potion, and even if he wasn't, that wouldn't matter considering all the other problems with the ship, but also they still see each other as grandpa and grandson. You guys really looked the other way when Morty said "You're my grandpa, Rick." in Solaricks and like all the times Rick refers to Morty as his grandson.

Anyway, done with my angry rant. Just needed to get this off my chest.
