What hairstyle do you like most for Zatanna? Also, do we ever seen Zatanna with a straight hair? I think I see Zee mostly with wavy hair
Soft wavy hair with some bounce works for me. I have found that the flat ironed straight hair tend to not look as good in a top hat.
Basically, how Gray Morrow drew her hair:

And also Cliff Chiang:

Stephane Roux tends to draw her hair straighter than the aforementioned artists but there is still enough waves and volume, and it looks good under a top hat:

We have seen her with very straight hair in Everyday Magic by Rick Mays and Seven Soldiers by Ryan Sook and her default look Post Nu 52 in JLD Vol 1 by Mikel Jenin was straight hair:

TV Guide  -  May 9 - 15, 1964
Victor Morrow (born Victor Morozoff; February 14, 1929 – July 23, 1982) Film and television actor. He came to prominence as one of the leads of the ABC drama series Combat! (1962–1967), which earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Continued Performance by an Actor in a Series. Morrow continued acting up to his death during filming of Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) when he and two child actors were killed by a stunt helicopter crash.
Morrow began appearing on television in the early 1950′s, guest starring on shows like The Millionaire, Matinee Theatre, Climax!, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Restless Gun, Trackdown, Richard Diamond, Private Detective, and Telephone Time.
Despite appearing in movies Morrow remained mostly a television actor, appearing in Naked City, Wichita Town, The Rifleman, The Lineup, Johnny Ringo, The Brothers Brannagan, The Law and Mr. Jones, The Lawless Years, The Barbara Stanwyck Show, General Electric Theatre, Target: The Corruptors, The Tall Man, Outlaws, Bonanza, Death Valley Days, Alcoa Premiere, Suspense, The Immortal, Dan August, Hawaii Five-O, Mannix, Sarge, McCloud, Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law and The Untouchables.
He was cast in the early Bonanza episode "The Avenger" as a mysterious figure known only as "Lassiter" – named after his town of origin – who arrives in Virginia City, and helps save Ben and Adam Cartwright from an unjust hanging, while eventually gunning down one sought-after man, revealing himself as the hunter of a lynch mob who killed his father; having so far killed about half the mob, he rides off into the night, in an episode that resembles the later Clint Eastwood film High Plains Drifter. Morrow later appeared in the third season Bonanza episode "The Tin Badge".  (Wikipedia)
Rick Jason (born Richard Jacobson; May 21, 1923 – October 16, 2000) Film and television actor most remembered for starring in the ABC television drama Combat! (1962–1967).
In the 1950′s Jason received offers for television series. He guest-starred on ABC's anthology series, The Pepsi-Cola Playhouse. In 1954, he played Joaquin Murietta, the notorious Mexican bandit of the California Gold Rush, in an episode of Jim Davis's syndicated western series Stories of the Century, the story of a railroad detective investigating crime in the American West. He appeared on the NBC interview program Here's Hollywood, in the Rawhide episodes "Incident of the Coyote Weed" and "Incident of the Valley in Shadow", and co-starred in 1969 in The Monk.
In 1960, he starred as insurance investigator Robin Scott in The Case of the Dangerous Robin, a syndicated American television series that lasted only one season. It was not renewed due to Jason's health issues, including back problems. In 1962, he began starring in the television series Combat! as Platoon Leader 2nd Lt. Gil Hanley, probably his most memorable role. In this series he shared the starring role in an alternating episode rotation, with Vic Morrow as Sgt. Chip Saunders, though in many episodes they both appeared. The show was a hit that lasted for 152 episodes in five seasons.  (Wikipedia)
The outlandish TV Spoof was the British Series, “The Avengers”, starring Patrick McNee and Honor Blackman.

MAGGIE: What is it, Fleischman? You wanna tell me something. I can tell by your face.
JOEL: Yes, yes. I do. I want to tell you something.
MAGGIE: What?
JOEL: A joke.
MAGGIE: A joke?
JOEL: Yeah. Uh, see, um, this guy goes on a trip, and, uh, he leaves his cat with his friend. Well, he calls his friend and asks how the cat is. Guy says, “The cat is dead.” The guy says, “Geez, God couldn't you break the news to me a little more gently? You know, lead into it— ‘Your cat crawled up on the roof, there was a loose tile, and he took a little fall.’ Like that.” Next month, the guy goes on another trip. Calls his friend and asks how his mom is. Guy says, “Well—She crawled up on the roof and there was a loose tile.”
MAGGIE: Not bad.

ohhh myy goddd this post got me thinkin about how the miw members would be in the bedroom :((((
chris is heavy on the brain today
I've got you friend
Also thank you so so so so so much for your patience with this one idk why it took me so long to complete
Chris: He's very into BDSM, but is incredibly careful not to cross any boundaries. If you show any signs of discomfort he stops immediately to assess how you're feeling. He loves it rough; bondage, leather, whips, all the stops. He's big and uses that to his advantage, loving how he can tower over you and pin you down to easily. He knows what he likes and sticks to it, however, he's never opposed to a tender love making session.
Chris Aftercare: Chris is the king of aftercare. He knows exactly what to say and how to hold you to make you feel comforted and loved. He has all kinds of fluffy blankets and comfy clothes for you in case you forget to bring an extra pair. He's more than willing to hold an ice pack to any areas that are sore or bruised.
Ryan: He loves any position where he has control, but his favorites are doggy and cowgirl. When it comes to foreplay, he tends to be impatient. It's not that he doesn't want to give you the attention you deserve, he just wants to be inside you as soon as possible. He likes to degrade you, only if you're comfortable of course, with lots of dirty mutterings and the occasional spanking. He's not very vocal about his own pleasure, some sighs, groans, and grunts at most.
Ryan Aftercare: He's less attentive when it comes to aftercare, but if you ask him to do anything, he'll do it without hesitation. He likes being lazy after sex; it takes a lot out of him. He loves having you lay on his chest while he pets your hair slowly as you both drift off to sleep.
Justin: Missionary with your legs over his shoulders is his favorite, because he can see just how small you are compared to him when you're underneath. One of his favorite things to do is to carry on a normal conversation while he's fucking your brains out to see how dumb he can get you on his cock. He's a tease; edging you until you're in tears, faking sympathy when you're overstimulated, and just about anything else you can think of.
Justin Aftercare: He's very gentle, cleaning you up and carrying you to the bathroom where he'll run a warm bath with salts, bubbles, and lotions. He'll get in with you, laying you back against his chest while he scrubs you clean with scented body wash.
Ricky: Loves missionary so he can see exactly what he's doing to you, and side by side facing each other to be close to you. Thank you @throwingmetothelions for this post because now I firmly believe that Ricky uses essential oils during sex. He's balanced perfectly between rough and caring, praising and degrading you at the same time. He's into anal (only if you are too, of course), some types of bondage, and spanking. Beyond that, he's willing to experiment.
Ricky Aftercare: He's also extremely serious about aftercare. He does his research and asks you about it so he knows what to keep stocked and what to do. However, it doesn't tend to last long with him because he's a busy man with lots to do, but if you need him, he'll always stay longer.
Vinny: Cowgirl and missionary are tied for his two favorite positions. One the one hand, with cowgirl, he can grope your tits and relax while you ride him. But, on the other hand, he can be right down on top of you in missionary, moaning into your neck. He tends to be vocal in bed, never shy about letting you know how good you feel. He loves holding your hand the whole time, even if he's rough. Although, secretly he's a switch at heart.
Vinny Aftercare: He didn't know much about aftercare until you mentioned it to him. He's constantly double checking that he's doing it right, even though he's going above and beyond. He loves spooning and talking about life; he tends to be more vulnerable and open right after sex.

I want to get into Zatanna comics but I’m not sure where to start. What series do you recommend?
Hello! Don't worry, I can give you a short starting guide + some recommendations on this post so you can read without having to dive fully into thousands of issues (unless you want a detailed guide of more appearances).
The usual go to for any beginner is Zatanna (2010) by Paul Dini. It's her longest solo comic (16 issues) and it fits as a stand alone.
Tumblr media
If you are interested, I'm currently working in a masterlist reading guide of her appearances. Zatanna is a very old character, so a lot of her appearances are scattered as cameo and team books, so often finding what to read is hard. If you want to get a little further into her character, these options I'm about to mention are good as well. More under the cut because this is a long post.
- Secret Origins (1988) (volume 2) #27
Offers a summary about of Zatanna's origin in the DC universe. A bit old, so the scans can be blurry, but still a nice read.
Tumblr media
- Zatanna Special (1987) by Gerry Conway & Gray Morrow
Zatanna gets contacted by the ghost of her mother Sindella, which leads her to travel to secret city of the Homo Magi with her manager. A lot of details about her background are revealed her, it's one of my favourite comics for her.
Zatanna: Come Together (1993) by Lee Mars & Esteban Maroto
Tumblr media
Four issue mini in which Zatanna tries to get a fresh new start in San Francisco, temporally retiring from her superhero career. Unfortunately, she doesn't expect to find her stay disrupted by a supernatural threat infesting the city. Still one of my favourite comics of her and the art is amazing too. It also explores her background from her mother's side of the family, which is always good and underrated.
Zatanna: Everyday Magic (2003) by Paul Dini & Rick Mays (one shot)
Tumblr media
We see Zatanna in her best moment as a famous stage magician in a long tour. She seems to be doing great, but she still fights to have an ordinary personal life. Things get complicated when her former partner, John Constantine, shows up on her life once again.
This is a fun story! It's Zatanna only Vertigo solo book. There are some poorly aged jokes and the art is not everyone's cup of tea, but it's a fun light hearted read for everyone.
Zatanna: Seven Soldiers (2007) by Grant Morrison & Ryan Sook
Zatanna attends a superhero support group. Her powers are weak and she finds herself in a low spot in her life, but the arrival of a mysterious girl pushes her to go on a tripe to find her father's missing journals.
This mini series is part of a bigger event written by Morrison called Seven Soldiers of Victory, but it can be read as a stand alone. If you want further context, I recommend reading the event, though.
I really like this comic, though. I wish we got to see more of Zatanna's mentorship role.
Tumblr media
Black Canary & Zatanna: Bloodspell (2015) by Paul Dini & Joe Quinones.
A fun team up comic! It's an original graphic novel. I love Zee and Dinah's friendship.
Tumblr media
Wonder Woman: Agent of Peace (2020) #15
A fun team up issue with Diana and Zee spending quality time together.
Tumblr media
Justice League Dark (2011) (New52) & Justice League Dark (2018) (Rebirth)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, to clarify. I don't necessarily recommend the Justice League Dark books, but I'm incluiding them since most of Zee post new 52 appearances are in these two books which are...a mixed bag. Justice League Dark (new 52) wasn't of my liking with the exception of the last third of the whole book (Dematteis did a good job, probably the best out of the three writers heading the book). Earlier writers didn't know how to handle Zatanna, her personality is very watered down just as well as her abilities, and she isn't really given spotlight, leadership and full potential of her abilities until Dematteis takes the pen. I also don't enjoy how off was the characterisation of other characters of the book and the overall writing quality and pace, but that's a story for another post.
Justice League Dark (Rebirth) is a step up in quality from New52, but unfortunately it continues with the weird personality shift in Zatanna's personality and the a lackuster character design. As much as I love Diana, who is part of this team line up, I think Zatanna should have been given the leader role and the spotlight. Out of this book, I sincerely enjoyed Ram V's stage on the later half on this run, who deserved to stay longer on this title.
That said, you can take a look on these titles, but you know, at least you know what to expect.
Bonus: Graphic novels, webtoons and stand alone stories
Tumblr media
DC's new talent showcase (2018)
Truth and Justice (2020) #7 - 9
Zatannna & the Ripper (Available for Free in Webtoon, still ongoing)
Zatannna & House of Secrets (Kids graphic novel)
Batman: Urban Legends (#11-16)
Johnny Constantine & Mystery of the Meanest Teacher (she's a co protagonist here)

There's No Hate Like Christian Love: Exposing the Hypocrisy and Bigotry Behind Religious Dogma
Why I Refuse to Watch The Chosen and What It Reveals About Christian Hypocrisy
I refuse to watch The Chosen, a show tainted by Mormon influences, and I find the anticipation of it by several Baptists I know deeply troubling. When I hear about this series, I’m reminded of the repellent concept of “the elect” as twisted by Reformation, Calvinist, and Presbyterian traditions. Predestination in these doctrines is a grotesque, isolationist, and heretical interpretation of selective scripture. It renders much of creation meaningless, all to defend the fearful cultures it infects. Let’s be real—there’s no hate like Christian love when it’s wielded to justify exclusion and marginalization.
The Brutal Reality of Christian Bigotry
I am neurodivergent, a fact that has made me endlessly curious and painfully aware of the injustices faced by those like me. The traits that define me—deep yet detached emotions, intense focus, and an unyielding sense of justice—have isolated me from those who cannot comprehend a life spent in constant pursuit of truth. This isolation is not just a personal struggle but a reflection of a wider, systemic issue within Christianity. It’s not just me—it's the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, and anyone who doesn’t conform to their narrow ideals who are cast aside. They cherry-pick verses to justify their hate, dismissing the very essence of Christ's teachings.
The Sin of Cherry-Picking Scripture for Hate
The very essence of Christian love is betrayed when used to marginalize and condemn. Pastor Rick Morrow of Beulah Church in Richland, MO, embodies this hypocrisy with his vile claim that neurodivergent individuals are either demonically afflicted or simply not favored by God. “Either the devil has attacked them, he's brought this infirmity upon them, he's got them where he wants them, and/or God just doesn't like them very much,” Morrow says. This is nothing short of spiritual malpractice, and it makes me question the salvation of those who spew such hatred. Where are the fruits of the Spirit in this? There’s no evidence of grace, love, or goodness in such zealotry.
The Dangerous Pretense of Purity
I am outraged by the far-right "Christian" pundits calling for the elimination of autism, using it as a sick excuse for purification. Such ideologies not only marginalize but endanger the lives of countless individuals. The zealots who hold these beliefs are convinced that God requires them to purify humanity through exclusion and purging. This is a clear perversion of true Christian doctrine and a direct violation of the command to love one another.
Jesus’ True Message Versus Christian Hypocrisy
A search for historical context reveals that even Jesus’ disciples could have had traits that would now be labeled neurodivergent. Thomas’ skepticism and Peter’s intense loyalty suggest that even the earliest followers faced misconceptions and judgment. The portrayal of Matthew as autistic in The Chosen is a step in the right direction but also a stark reminder of how poorly “weirdos” are treated within church walls. I would have fought for my place and for others like me, and I’m disheartened to see such prejudices persist.
A Call to Genuine Christian Conduct
It’s high time Christians remember their true calling—to correct and rebuke one another in love and follow Jesus’ greatest commandment to love your neighbor as yourself. If you cannot exhibit the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—then you are failing at the very core of your faith. The current state of Christianity is deeply troubling. We have strayed so far from the teachings of Christ that it’s become almost unrecognizable.
We must urgently address this crisis within the faith, or we risk losing the essence of what it means to truly follow Jesus. My heart aches for a faith that once stood for unconditional love but is now plagued by hypocrisy and exclusion. We need a return to grace and a recommitment to genuine Christian values before it’s too late.
