Some people r pretty hard on the film. It's no that bad. It's an interesting piece of history with  decent plot points.

I decided to watch this film for the second time in forever and I barely remember my first viewing (plus I was in a Daniel Brühl mood) and guess what?!

It's set in Chile!

More specifically the 1973 Chilean military coup.

So, you know, interesting.

THE DEUCE 9 p.m. on HBO; Stream on HBO platforms. David Simon’s breakout show “The Wire” articulated how the lives of ordinary people are shaped by the institutions they find themselves caught up in. “The Deuce,” which Simon created with George Pelecanos, has a similar theme. For three seasons the series has shown how changes in the pornography industry in the United States affected the people involved in it. The show’s final season, which concludes Monday, jumped to the mid-1980s, when VHS technology made it possible for people to watch erotic films easily at home. Some of the show’s characters, like Candy (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who went from prostitute to pornographic film director, seem to have prospered amid these changes, while others, like Frankie (James Franco), have clearly suffered. But for the most part the message is clear: Everyone is trying to get by in a world controlled by forces stronger than any individual.

This Hitchcock thriller, one of his first sound films, helped establish the director’s reputation in the United States and anticipates his later works like “North by Northwest” (1959). Robert Donat plays Richard Hannay, a man who is drawn into espionage intrigue after a chance meeting with a female spy — who dies in his apartment after being attacked. With her last breaths, she reveals that she has discovered a plot to steal British military secrets. Richard flees to Scotland with a map she was carrying to escape her killers and find the leader of the plot. He meets Pamela (Madeleine Carroll) — an early iteration of the infamous “Hitchcock blonde” character — along the way.

AGATHA RAISIN & THE HAUNTED HOUSE Stream on Acorn TV. In this Halloween-season special, Agatha Raisin (Ashley Jensen) tries to make the jump from amateur investigator to professional sleuth. When her detective agency struggles to draw clients, Raisin’s boyfriend, James (Jamie Glover), suggests she turn her attention to a local landmark, Ivy Hall. Some claim the home is haunted, and that its current owner, Olivia (Richenda Carey), is too. But the police refuse to investigate. Raisin steps in but things become more complicated when Olivia is killed and all of the village residents are potential suspects.

THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS (2006) Stream on Netflix. Rent on Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Vudu and YouTube. Will Smith stars as Chris Gardner, a struggling entrepreneur competing for a job at a stock brokerage firm and taking care of his young son, Christopher Jr. (Jaden Smith), while homeless. In her review for The New York Times, Manohla Dargis questions the film’s treatment of poverty and success. “It’s the same old bootstraps story, an American dream artfully told, skillfully sold,” she wrote. But Dargis also praised Smith’s “warm expressiveness” and called both his and his son’s performances “likable in the extreme.”
