The thing about Din is that no one could spell his full name at first and now THIS. They're fully trolling us.

Has anyone ever read a fanfic that spelled a character's name differently and then you have to remind yourself that other people's interpretations exist
I'll give an example, therefore exposing what type of fanfiction I actually read:
Other fanfics: Din Djarin 😁👍
That one fanfic: Dyn Jarren 😈⛓️🔥
I love the writer but I will not stand for this.

No hate but I was wondering why you spell it as 'Dyn' and not 'Din'?
lmao you're good, it's not the first time I've been asked this, and I've been writing our beloved tin can since s1 before we got a name for him - there was a period of time where everyone was guessing how to spell it once we did get a name bc the official spelling hadn't been released and wasn't for a while. 'Dyn' was the most popular version of his first name and I went with it because I thought it was dope and kept it after we got the official spelling. 'Din' just didn't feel right to me after that idk.

This is perfect. We all know our boy is soft inside, but he can take charge, too 🤤 this was just the best blend of the two sides of our warrior. Love this

Pairings: Din Djarin x Reader
Rating: Explicit
Word Count: 1.4k
Warnings: smut, a little bit of fluff, no y/n, rough sex, but it’s also soft, deviates from canon a little, din djarin has abandonment issues, the universe needs more soft din, dominant din meets soft din
A/N: Hi, all! In the middle of working on a few other mando one-shots I came up with this. I don’t know what it is about mixing dominant Din with soft Din but….anyway, I hope you enjoy!
The piston of his hips behind you was relentless, and burying your face in the heap of blankets on your makeshift bed was all you could do to muffle the screams that left your throat raw.
It was impossible to focus on anything else but the feeling of his cock splitting you open; not even your eyesight was functioning.
His hold on your hips tightened, pulling your backside up slightly and driving the head of his cock into your most sensitive spot. You mewled as your body lurched forward from the shock of the new angle, but Din’s grip barely let you move and inch.
“Easy, mesh’la.” he whispered.
One of his hands found its way to the back of your head to gather a fistful of hair, and when your face was pulled out of the blankets you realized you were incapable of making a sound, your throat completely exhausted.

The period of fics written after season 1 finale but before season 2 began where some people still spelled his name as Dyn Jarren, the kid was still just Baby Yoda, extended universe characters were brought in with love and sense, and Din and the child were just a happy little father and son clan of two vibing in the Razor Crest, my beloved

There are still some fics on AO3 that were never updated and continue to spell it “Dyn Jarren”, including @no-droids NSFW Alphabet for Rough Day:
Tumblr media
And to this day, Google still associates that spelling with our tin can man…

Maybe in the movie, Gideon (the original one with the mustache, not the clone who was immolated on Mandalore (cuz ya know they’re gonna bring him back again)) will use Din’s blood that was pumped out of him in The Mines of Mandalore to make an evil clone of Din (clean shaven of course), and THAT will be Dyn Jarren??? 😭
Tumblr media
okay do y’all remember in 2019 when the mandalorian season one dropped and the fics were also dropping like immediately?? and we all knew that mando’s real name was Din Djarin but for some reason we didn’t know how to spell it so for a long time all fics about him were with the name “Dyn Djarin” until like episode 7 came out or something and it was revealed it was spelled “Din” and everyone scrambled to change the spelling?? or did I just make all this up??

Naming in the Mandalorian (Season 3 Finale Spoilers!)
I find it absolutely hilarious how in the Mandalorian the main characters’ names KEEP CHANGING and the fandom KEEPS MESSING IT UP. Hold up, I’ll explain.
If you were on AO3 reading Mandalorian fanfiction DURING season 1 of the show, you would know all the Mandalorian fics had the Mandalorian’s name as “Dyn Jarren”. This is because Din Djarin’s name wasn’t revealed until the season finale, but Pedro Pascal said it in an interview months before. Nobody knew how to spell it, but most people agreed on “Dyn Jarren” for some reason. When the season finale finally revealed Mando’s name (or, more importantly, Disney+ subtitles revealed the proper spelling) all the fics had to go back and change it.
Between season 1 and season 2 of the Mandalorian, nobody knew Baby Yoda’s name. So, a lot of fics invented their own - usually having Din come up with a name. After season 2, Baby Yoda was finally revealed to be named Grogu and fics gradually changed to reflect that.
Between season 2 and season 3 of the Mandalorian, some people had Din more formally adopt Grogu and named him “Grogu Djarin”. I read several fics where Grogu was called that. And NOW with the “Din Grogu” reveal of the Season 3 finale, those are all wrong. Worst, it looks like “Din” was Din Djarin’s LAST name all along, making every fic where the romantic interest calls him “Din” look like idiots.
I hope the Mandalorian continues to fuck around with their names every season. This is glorious.

Note
so i keep thinking about the din djarin din grogu name thing okay and we have 3, maybe 4 options
1. Jon/Dave knew his name was djarin this whole time and thought it'd be funny to not correct us for three fucking seasons only to reveal it today
2. Jon/Dave decided on a whim to make his name djarin bc they like to fuck with us
3. Din's name is Din, and Grogu just has 2 first names for the time being until he passes apprentice stage then he'll take on the djarin family name?? but then he'd be Din Grogu Djarin and that's fuckin confusing and if that was the case why doesn't Din Djarin have 3 names too???
4. His name is actually just Djarin (I really don't want him to be called Djarin idk if you can tell) and Din is the family name and the reason no other mandos have the same name format (family name then first name) is because he's not a born and raised Mandalorian he was born on Aq vetina so he would've gotten his name there from his parents before they were 💀 OR his adopter/teacher named him and wherever they were from has that naming system
Honestly I just don't know if I can adjust to another Mando name change again lmaooo thanks for listening bye bye :D
i love your theories! i think its either 2 or preferably 3 😂 i can't handle another name change and i refuse to think of him as djarin lol
this brings me back to the whole 'dyn jarren' debacle (iykyk) but at least we have the spelling right this time!

Din as a last name brings me back memories of the season 1 finale when the correct spelling of Din Djarin was revealed and before that we used to write it as Dyn Jarren
