Whumptober Day Six - Dragged Away
Read on AO3
Peter flew through the air, propelled by his webs, throwing one after the next as he swings through the forest.
“Spider-Man? You in?” Steve says through the comms.
“Yep, Karen got it all set up. ETA of about ten minutes unless I get stopped again.”
Peter’s been keeping perimeter to make sure none of the Hydra Agents escape the base, but it’s been pretty boring with the Avengers fighting inside, there are barely any people who’ve escaped. But Tony’s finally relented and Peter’s going to be allowed to fight at the back entrance where too many of the Hydra agents have congregated.
“Stay alert,” Steve replies quickly, conversation ending.
But when has that ever stopped Peter. “Afterwards, can we go get ice cream? I left my wallet in my jacket which I left at school… Hopefully, Ned grabbed my stuff. I left in a hurry. At least, I remembered to text May and let her know. She said she’d be suspending my Spider-Manning if I skipped another day of school without at least letting her know. She’s been called one too many times by teachers who think I’ve gone missing. Or that I was kidnapped. Happy isn’t the most trustworthy looking adult for me to leave with.”
“Spidey, do you really want us to kick you off the comms again?” Sam asks. “You better watch your luck, kid.”
“Not happening,” Tony speaks up. He sounds out of breath. “If the kid is helping, he stays on the comms no matter how annoying he gets. I don’t want him to need us and not be able to talk to us or ask for help, which he will do, won’t he?”
Peter, warm with embarrassment, quickly agrees. “Yeah, Mister Stark. Of course, I’m working on it.”
“Good kid. Now, hush up, and focus on not landing flat on your face.”
“That was one time, Mister Stark!”
*
The comms had been quiet for a little while beyond Peter’s quips and remarks as he webbed up at least two dozen hydra agents, the majority of them knocked out. Peter had sustained his fair share of injuries throughout the fight. Including what he suspected was a concussion and at least a few broken fingers, along with plenty of the usual bruises. He had a few cuts and slices in his suit, but the majority of them were already scabbing thanks to his healing.
In all, he’s just tired. And maybe a little hungry.
“Is it too early to cash in on some ice cream?” he asks. He’s alone at the back of the building, except for the nearby agents he’d webbed up, but they aren’t providing any conversation.
“Find Tony, kid. Get him to take you home. The rest of us are going to wait here for Shield to get here and take care of this.”
“Aye, aye, Captain,” Peter says, slinging himself up to the top of the building to survey the area for the red suit. “Is he not online?”
“His suit went offline a few minutes ago. I assumed he was done and took it off.” Steve doesn’t sound bothered at all, but Peter is. Tony wouldn’t have just taken off his suit.
Karen wordlessly pulls up a map to Tony’s last location and Peter takes off, webbing through the trees. Something’s wrong. He can feel it.
*
Rhodey hears the scream for help from miles away. A child’s scream. One full of agony and desperation.
He takes off. He knows that scream and the only reason he’d be screaming like that would be if Tony-
“Kid, can you listen to me?” he says. His suit can only take him so fast and Tony’s suit is offline. “Peter, I need you to listen to me.”
“Rhodey?” Peter sounds small. Like a child desperately seeking help. His breaths are heaving, pulling out of his lungs too fast, and he’s obviously crying. “Please- he- I-”
“I need you to breathe,” Rhodey says, no room for argument. “And I need you to tell me what happened?”
Peter sobs in response, a noise that makes Rhodey feel like he was punched in the stomach. He bumps up the speed of his suit, going as fast as he possibly can without the engines combusting. It hits him then, more than it normally does, that Peter is just a child. Rhodey’s been trying to order him around like a soldier on a battlefield, but Peter’s just a kid. A very scared kid.
“You’re doing so well, Pete. I just need you to focus on breathing, okay?” Rhodey says, dropping his voice into a gentle tone. One that he’s heard Tony take on more than once. “Just breathe, kiddo.”
Peter tries, Rhodey will give him that much, but it doesn’t do to much to help Peter’s panic.
But Rhodey doesn’t have the time to coach the kid through his breathing, not when he’s landing in a clearing in the forest. There’s a building behind them, probably the size of a shed. It’s on fire, smoke filling the sky above the clearing. And Tony, oh my god, Tony.
His suit is smoking, half opened around his body. Rhodey can see scratch marks on the chest plate and when he makes himself look, he sees Peter’s bloody fingers. The kid probably tried to rip it off Tony, and it worked decently. The majority of Tony’s torso is out of the suit, just his limbs still encased in the metal.
Tony’s eyes are closed though. Blood trickling down the side of his face and hair sticking to his skin.
“Please,” Peter begs, sobs hitching in his throat. “Please, help him!”
The young hero is curled over his father-figure’s body, bloodied hands clutching the fabric of Tony’s undershirt. His mask is gone and his gloves are torn to pieces, but otherwise he seems decently intact, not including the cuts and bruises from the mission, and the tears that steadily stream down his rosy face.
Rhodey has to force himself to keep looking. He doesn’t want to see Peter’s child-like expression, colored with fear and anguish. He doesn’t want to see it, but he can’t look away. He has to be the adult now.
“Steve,” he says into his comms. “I need a Bruce and a stretcher here. Tony’s down.”
“Is he okay?” Natasha speaks up for the first time since the team assembled earlier. She prefers to work silently. “What happened?”
“Not sure. Kid’s not doing great,” Rhodey responds quietly. “According to FRI’s last stats, Tony was a little worse for wear, but nowhere near bad levels. He’s not responding though. Not to me or to Peter.”
It carries more than just that because Tony will always wake up for Peter. If the kid needed him, Tony would fight anything to get to him, even his own pain. Everyone knows that. And with the way the kid had screamed, he should’ve woken up.
“Bruce is prepping the stretcher. We’ll take the quinjet out to you. ETA of ten minutes.”
Rhodey doesn’t bother answering, focusing his attention on Peter.
“Hey, buddy, Tony’s gonna be just fine,” Rhodey says. He’s never had to be this person for Peter, he’s only ever had to be the fun uncle. “He’s going to be okay.”
Peter barely even moves, head tucked against the crook of Tony’s shoulder, back shuddering with Peter’s loud sobs and cries. Rhodey gently lays a hand on his back, rubbing soothing circles, hoping it’ll be enough until Bruce gets here.
“Okay, I need space to check him over,” Bruce calls out, hurrying down the ramp from the quinjet, flying overhead, pulling a stretcher behind him. “Peter, can you let me see him?”
Peter shakes his head against Tony’s shoulder, a sob wracking through his body. “Don’t- Don’t take him from me. Please- please. I can’t- I can’t-”
“I’m not taking him anywhere, Peter. I just need to check and make sure he’s okay. You understand that, right? He just needs a bandaid to fix his owies.”
Schooling his features into stone, he doesn’t let the surprise show. He didn’t think Bruce would speak to Peter like he’s a toddler. Owies and bandaids. He supposes it would be better for Peter to hear it like that.
But Peter still shakes his head, acting more and more childish as he clings to Tony’s chest.
And Bruce turns to Rhodey.
“Could you grab him?” There’s guilt coloring his expression. “I need to make sure Tony’s okay, but I can’t if… Just hold onto him for a few minutes. He can grab back on the minute I give the okay.”
Rhodey re-engages the suit, letting it close up over his body. He hooks his arms under Peter’s arms and links his hands in front of Peter’s chest. He turns on the repulsors and rips Peter away from Tony’s body, giving Bruce a few feet of space.
Peter screams almost animalistically, fighting against Rhodey’s tight hold. His super strength coming out full force as he easily dents the metal in Rhodey’s suit, fighting as hard as he can. Luckily, Rhodey’s suit is strong.
A flash of red and then Natasha’s standing in front of Peter, carefully just outside the reach of his thrashing legs.
“Hey! Kid, I need you to stop it. You’re scaring us right now. Tony’s okay. I promise you, Tony’s okay.” But her words, like the attempts of all the others, fall on deaf ears, Peter’s cries louder than the reassurances will ever be.
“He’s hurting himself,” Steve says, wincing. He’s at Nat’s side, a bruise rapidly forming on the side of his face. It’s true, Peter’s fingers are bleeding and probably broken, with the way his legs are kicking, Rhodey wouldn’t be surprised if the poor kid at least sprained an ankle, and he’s hit his head at least a few times.
“I have a bad idea.” Nat’s guiltily eyeing the bruise on Steve’s face.
They all understand, a mutual decision, but it’ll probably be for the best at the end of the day. A bruised face versus broken fingers and ankles and a concussion.
“Do it,” Rhodey says, tightening his grip on Peter’s middle and waist. He hates this more than he’d like to admit considering how often he daydreams about punching the Avengers in the face.
Steve, careful to avoid the kid’s flailing limbs, moves into range and with a whispered apology, throws a punch.
Peter finally stops, body falling limp in Rhodey’s grip like a puppet who got it’s strings cut.
They all stand in guilty silence for a few moments, unsure of how to proceed, until Bruce speaks up.
“Yeah, he’s okay. Concussed, two deeper lacerations, and a few minor injuries, but nothing too bad. He’s okay. He’ll be fine. C’mon, lets get them to the medbay.”
*
Tony wakes up to a familiar warm weight against his side, immediately drawing the warmth protectively closer to him.
“Mm, Pete?” Tony slurs, blinking the exhaustion out of his eyes. “’s tha’ you?”
Peter doesn’t answer, but Rhodey does from the chair by the bed.
“You two are the worlds most difficult people to deal with, you know that?”
“He okay?” Tony asks, suddenly wide awake and checking over the teenager for any injuries. His hands are wrapped in gauze and he has an ankle stabilizer on. Otherwise, there’s only the worrying bruise filling one of his cheeks.
Rhodey sighs. “He panicked, Tony. Totally, utterly, Tony Stark-styled, panicked. Steve had to knock him out before he hurt himself anymore.”
“Steve hit my kid?”
Rolling his eyes, Rhodey sighs again. “That’s not what you were supposed to take from that. You were supposed to worry about the fact that you putting yourself in harms way, hurt your kid too. He broke half his fingers trying to get back to you when I took him away so Bruce could take a look. He tore your suit open with his bare hands.”
But instead of looking worried, Tony shrugs. “The kid’s got attachment issues. I don’t blame him.”
“I believe I told you to blame yourself for this one.”
Tony put his hand over his heart, looking offended. “I thought we were working through me not blaming myself for everything.”
“Blame yourself for things that are your fault, like this one. You shouldn’t have gone by yourself!”
“Shh,” Tony says, brushing Peter’s curls off his forehead. “Kid’s trying to sleep.”
“Sorry-”
“He’s just pretending. C’mon. The jig’s up, kid.”
On cue, Peter cracks his eyes open, squinting blurrily up at Tony. “Sorry ‘bout your suit.”
“Sorry about your hands.”
Peter smiles, looking down at his white-wrapped hands. “Bandaids for our ouchies.”
“I’m not going anywhere, kid. I hope you know that.”
“Mmhm. Got scared,” Peter says, tiredness coating his voice. “Right here.”
“Yeah, I’m right here, Pete. Get some sleep.”
“Don’t hurt Mister Captain.”
Tony laughs gently, planting a kiss on Peter’s forehead. “No promises, kiddo. Nobody touches my kid and gets away with it.”
Peter snuggles a little closer. “Night-night.”
“Goodnight, kid.”

Marvel Fic Rec (General)
Baby Driver by prufrock
Summary: Cars seem to show up at key moments in Tony Stark's life. So does Rhodey Rhodes. (Tony/Rhodey)
This fic is absolutely beautiful and heart wrenching in one. It deals with addiction, grief and mourning, some very bad decisions—but Rhodey is there (off and on and off and on again) through it all.
A New-York Cop by dimircharmer
Summary (shortened): Newly minted detective Brett Mahoney is noticing some fairly disquieting things about Matt Murdock. Namely, he's legally bound to one of his old friends, heavily in debt, and sporting different poorly-concealed injuries every other time Brett sees him. (Matt/Foggy implied, outsider’s POV).
Another fic with beautiful writing and characterization. I only wish the end scene were longer. Love the dynamics of friendship, concern, and as cheesy as it sounds, doing the right thing (even when it [might] go against decades of friendship.)
What's in a Name by OliOcelot
Summary: 5 times Michelle Jones met Peter Parker at MIT (and 1 time she met Spider-Man)
I’m not usually a huge fan of coffee shop AU’s bc they tend to take the characters and leave the plots/worldbuilding—but Peter is still Spider-Man and he still has citizens to save. A great read!
That Which Is Called Ego Death by WinterSky101
Summary: There was a time when a Titan snapped the neck of a god, but it wasn’t the end of the story, it was the beginning.
I’m kind of a sucker for any good guy Loki stories. I’m also a sucker for any Genderfluid Loki. I’m a sucker for this fic.
Blips on the Record by ambivalentangst
Summary: Flash, let it be known, doesn’t like Peter. He’s too good at everything—infuriatingly so—and nobody ever calls him on his bullshit, like with AcaDec nationals. Flash has to put his all into everything he does for a fraction of the attention Peter gets for his bare minimum, and it pisses him off, to say the least, so sue him for looking for chances here and there to knock him down a peg. However, when he notices, he shuts his entire operation down. Maybe Peter has a decade on his age when he was in the thick of it, but Flash remembers what it was like. He gets having school be a safe place, and nobody, not even himself, is going to jeopardize that for Peter.
I already mentioned this fic in a different rec post, but this time I included the longer summary. Flash Thompson redemption (my fav!) and great characterization/character study. Plus a tiny bit of irondad from an outsider’s perspective.
Bunch of Jackasses, Standing in a Circle by FoundlingMother
Summary: Loki doesn't die on Svartalfheim. A pity. He deserves death, and his cell no longer offers safety. Asgard clearly does not possess the strength to ward against Thanos.
See description for previous Loki fic above—it’s all of that, PLUS Loki joining the Guardians of the Galaxy. (Note: this fic is locked unless you have an account.)
Uncharted Territory by ChloeNyme
Summary: Peter had a secret. No, not that one. A different one. One that felt…worse. Or, MJ tries to navigate a relationship with Peter Parker.
Trigger warnings: Mentions of childhood sexual assault (not explicit); explicit consensual sexual content between teenagers.
I was hesitant to add this fic, if I’m being honest. It’s a tough read, but in the end it feels absolutely worth it. I don’t usually like to read explicit sexual content, and much less that of teenage characters, but somehow this fic manages to feel more like learning and adapting than it does dirty (which is to say, I did not feel slimy reading it). That being said, I have not read the next in the series. Read with caution, but if you do, enjoy.

Never Tell Me The Odds by @imgoingtocrash and @savvysass, art by @silverink58, magazine edit by @savvysass
He steps forward, tangling his fingers—callouses fingers, bandaged, burned fingers—into the soft tuft of Peter’s curls. It’s such a familiar, casual gesture for him, but at this moment Tony seems bewildered by it.
“It’s me, Pete. I’m right here. I’m home,” Tony’s voice cracks. “I’ve missed you so much. I love you so much, you don’t even—so much.”
Tony’s voice seems to do the trick. Peter pushes against her chest, turning his head and meeting Tony’s eyes. It’s hard to describe the connection between Peter and Tony.
It’s always mystified all of them, that stomach swooping warmth that seems to fill anyone who sees Tony in action, loving Peter like he always promised to, the way he worried he never could in the early days. Maybe it’s biology and maybe it’s something more mystical, but it’s always there, permeating the world around them for anyone to see. It’s love, pure and kind and good and the only reason any of them got here after three months of hell.
“Oh, Peter,” Tony breathes out, his hand trailing from Peter’s hair to his cheek.
Pepper can’t suppress the winded oof that comes from Peter kicking off of her chest and fully careening himself into Tony’s arms. It’s an adorable little disaster of a moment. Tony catches Peter, but he’s clearly more injured than he wants to let on and has one arm still in a sling, so the armful of his son causes them both to fall to the concrete in a pile. Peter takes that opportunity to readjust, curling around Tony’s neck and chest like a little sloth, bawling against him.
“Dad!” Peter cries. He says it, the word, full and loud, screaming it into the world like it’s been festering inside him all this time and it’s only now safe enough to let out because his father is there to hear it, because he’s always promised to be there for Peter, no matter what.
“Daddy!” he repeats over and over. Pepper and Rhodey both reach out abruptly from where they stand, as if they can somehow fix the way Tony is stuck to the ground by forty pounds of child. Tony simply curls into the hold, tucking his head against Peter and settling more firmly into the concrete airstrip beneath them.
“It’s okay, I know,” Tony soothes through his own tears. “I missed you, baby. God, I missed you so much.”
BONUS: HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE! I’m so glad to finally present to you YOUR BIRTHDAY PRESENTS! Ugh sitting on these was SO HARD I wanted to tell you about them SO BAD! I’m so glad to get these out there and to see your reaction! IT’S THE SCENE! Your beloved scene! and It’s BEAUTIFUL (thank you @silverink58!!!) Kate, you were one of the first people I messaged in the Irondad fandom back in September of 2019. I read invulnerable and decided I NEEDED to know more about your writing and get tips from you, and now I have found the best coauthor and friend a girl could ask for! You are literally the funniest fucking person on the planet, and I look forward to talking to you every day! Your little notes on our fics always make me freak out and get the warm fuzzies, and after the AMAZING BIRTHDAY PRESENT you gave me (read Maybe Some Arachnids Get Bugs everyone!) I knew I had someone who really knew me and what I liked and that you deserved the same kind of happiness on your birthday that you gave me! I hope this accomplishes that! I love you sooo much! Here’s to more biodad and more fun this year!

Hi!! Do you have any good whump fic recs? The whumpier the better
Hi anon—boy, do I! Here are some of the whumpiest from my AO3 bookmarks (my personal favorite is the kidnapping trope so there's a lot of that):
Precious Cargo by Hobsonphile
Tony and baby Morgan get kidnapped. Tony uses his fatherhood experience to escape, but the Tony whump doesn't end there. There's some Decimation angst too!
Ruthless Games by @xxx-cat-xxx
Tony and Peter get kidnapped. Great whump for both of them, I love rereading this fic.
I promise you, I literally pledge by @iron--spider
This has some brutal Peter whump, I love it. Tony gets slapped around too. Heartwarming recovery.
Leave out all the rest by @xxx-cat-xxx
Irondad centric, Tony is dying. Strong angst.
Like Father, Like Son by @an-odd-idea
Peter is forced to build an arc reactor while Tony watches, and both of them get sleep deprived. Such a cool kidnapping fic idea.
The Box by @an-odd-idea
Tony is buried alive 😁
Too Pure for Your Own Good by @an-odd-idea
This is a longer one, and so SO good, Peter gets whumped by Beck in so many ways, and I don't wanna give away any spoilers but that ending still makes me tear up.
Strong Enough by Ranni
Some Avengers team bonding through more kidnapping whump! The feels—and the hypothermia—are strong with this one.
Hubris by romanoff
Eventual Stony relationship, Tony whump. Definitely further along the intense torture scale.
The Room Where It Happens by @notaparty-trick
Irondad AU based on The Room. I love the recovery chapters especially, and the found family is so good.
Sealed Records by iTony
Aftermath of torture—Rhodey finds out what the Ten Rings did to Tony in Afghanistan.
Keep Them Safe by @spideywriting
Protective Peter Parker in a school shooting, with Irondad feels.
If I have to crawl upon the floor, come crashing through your door by @frostysunflowers
Irondad Raft whump!!!
Through the endless desert (I will walk) by Myrime
Another Tony & Rhodey post-Afghanistan fic, this one takes place right after the rescue.
the one who made it out by tiaylasglass
Unique, dialogue based writing format. Peter gets tortured.
For You by Lansfics7
Irondad kidnapping and torture, and a badass escape.
-----
Also, here are some fics that are ongoing, or that I haven't finished yet, but I would still heartily recommend:
solkillerseeksak's febuwhump extravaganza by @blondsak, @akillerqueenwrites, S0lstice, seekrest
We Accept the Love we Think we Deserve - Febuwhump 2021 by @polaroid15
We're all falling (and we need a place to hide) and Another tear, another cry (another place for us to die) by @whump-angst-fluff-repeat
There's tons more in my bookmarks, I'm sure, these are just some I got from a rough scan. Do show these awesome writers some love! 💕

Speaking of irondad platonic soulmate fics, do you or any of your followers know of any multichap ones? Because all I've found are oneshots, which are still amazing, but just... I need more. For life reasons. Or just any platonic soulmate fics in general in case there's one I've missed? Please and thank you!
Hi! I’m sure I’ve missed out some, but here’s my attempt at giving you as much content as I can.
Multichapter:
The Window To The Soul by TheSacredFandomTextsI think this is the first platonic soulmate fic I read, and it’s still a Classic. Peter & Tony are the focus, but other Avengers appear. I really enjoy how it shows the soulmate trope inserted so wonderfully into the MCU. It also has a sequel (which I just discovered), so there’s over 35,022 words of content to bask in.
If you need me call me, no matter where you are, no matter how far by @crime-fighting-underoos This fic is a WIP, but it’s another one of the first platonic soulmate AUs I discovered on the AO3. It’s fun, because it’s also a play on the “Tony adopts Peter” trope, but with the added dimension of Tony being Peter’s soulmate. It also has a prequel!
fade (until i’m gone) by @parkrstarkThis isn’t necessarily your classic platonic soulmate AU, but it’s so lovely and original and full of angst, hurt/comfort, and irondad. It’s set post-IW, and entirely disregards Engame, so thank god for that. It’s a WIP right now, and parkrstark’s taking a break from it, but she does plan to continue it and, as is my god-given right as her fanfic bff, I know the rest of the plot and it gets good, y’all.
all that we are by @peter-parkersonAgain, this isn’t exactly a platonic soulmate AU, but it’s really, really close. Basic gist: Peter’s touching Tony when he snaps in Endgame, and the power of the Stones forms a soulbond between them. I was so relived when this fic got published because I’d been thinking about writing something similar myself, and once I knew someone else was writing (and way better than I could, by the way), I could finally rest.
Oneshot:
Chapter 5 of I wanna find a home (and I wanna share it with you) by @madastheseaAs if I wouldn’t rec one of my favorite authors in the whole wide world. This oneshot is short, sweet, and perfect. The whump & hurt/comfort is everything I deserve. madasthesea continues to be a goddess amongst us mortal men.
Everything, All At Once by @ironfamjamGod, I still remember the rush I got when I first found this fic. I feel like I don’t give ironfamjam enough love, but I devour their work like I’m a starving man with the whole entire McDonald’s menu. Follows Tony & Peter as soulmates throughout Peter’s entire life, where they meet in their dreams but can’t remember each other when they wake up, and it’s just… so lovely.
Born To Cherish by @ironfamjamWhen ironfamjam hits you with double whammy and you have to consider what you did to deserve sharing your Earthly existence with them. Seriously. This one is so good. An AU where the thoughts of your soulmate appear on your hand once the youngest turns 10. Precious Peter, precious Tony, precious fic, precious writer. How can you go wrong?
Chapter 2 of We’ll Meet Again (Don’t Know Where, Don’t Know When) by Ellie_ElizabethThis focuses more on Tony, rather than Tony & Peter, but I really like the way it’s written and it has Tony & Rhodey, which is Good Food. A little taste of Tony whump, too, which is never remiss in my books.
Polychromatic by amineThis is another one of the first platonic soulmate irondad AUs I read, and it uses one of my favorite soulmate tropes: seeing in black and white until you look into your soulmate’s eyes. It’s Tony and Peter meeting during Civil War, but reimagined if they were soulmates.
The Only Constant by spider_beepI just discovered this fic, and it had me giggling and smiling my way through. It’s set in a universe where you have two soulmates, and they’re the person whose life you most change and the person who most changes your life. Plus, it’s got Peter whump, irondad hurt/comfort, and some sleepy Peter in it. What else could a girl ever need?

Irondad Fic Rec
I'm gonna do something a little different today and rec a whole series! I've wanted to do this for awhile, but I always get caught up on how to format it. As a series, this is incredible. One of my absolute favorites. But I also believe that each individual fic deserves attention. They're all so different and so good in their own right. So without further ado, enjoy
IronFam Post Endgame Cuddle Fic by Sahiya
Nursery School Hell Germs  Summary: Peter and Tony find out what anyone who is related to a small child knows: that the germs they bring home from preschool are THE WORST Word count: 4,904 My mini review: Sick Tony and sick Peter taking care of each other and being dramatic in the process is everything. I love the little details the author chose to include, like not having TVs in the bedroom to limit Morgan's screen time. My poor babies are so sick and I love the equilibrium of trying to take care of each other when they both feel like death. It's probably my favorite sick fics ever and it doesn't get too repetitive with descriptions of what's wrong. The dialogue is super authentic and well done, and appropriately witty at points. It's really, really well written. Anyway I'm in love with this fic. It's wholesome and wonderful and the best sick!fic
Head Above Water Summary: “FRIDAY has all the emergency numbers,” Pepper said, “including Morgan’s pediatrician. There’s food in the fridge––soup for Tony and Morgan, lasagna and mac and cheese for you. Make sure Morgan is drinking her Pedialyte, and see if you can get her to sleep in her own bed tonight. And don’t let Tony go on a fever-driven work binge.” “Got it,” Peter said, nodding. “FRIDAY, fridge, Pedialyte, no work binge.” Word Count: 15,080 My mini review: Time for Tony to get sick with his other kid! I love Peter trying his best to take care of them and how he's completely unconcerned about their germs lol. I could feel how overwhelming this would be for him and it's a great companion piece to Nursery School Hell Germs. There's a part in this, in the 2nd chapter, that just makes my heart melt and I about cried. It was such a realistic real portrayal of that character and emotions. Just..it was perfect. Peter is The Best™ big brother and son in this!! The Best™. This fic is soft and perfect, as is all of Sahiya's writing.
All That We See or Seem  Summary: “There is one more thing, Tones,” Rhodey said, watching him. Oh God, Tony thought wearily. “What is it? Just tell me.” “Peter thought you were dead.” Tony blinked. “What?” Word Count: 16,738 My mini review: The first time I read this series, I read it backwards. So I started with this fic and it's my favorite of the three. This fic is everyone taking care of Peter, but instead of being sick, it's in the aftermath of torture. It's done so well and Morgan Stark broke my heart. You know when you read something and it's everything you didn't know you wanted? That's this for me. I love Tony and his reaction and Morgan with hers and all the characterization and it's just really really well written. This fic made me tear up. There's so much more I could say, certain lines that I adore, but I don't want to spoil this fic any more than I already have. So give it a read. For all the angst, there's so much comfort! I love it 3000.
That's a lot! But I hope you guys read and love this series like I do! And Sahiya doesn't have a Tumblr but if you liked it, please let her know! Alone In The Dark (But Not Anymore)
By @littlemissagrafina (LittleMissAgrafina on AO3) for @peterparkrr
For the Friendly Neighbourhood Irondad Fic Exchange 2020 @friendly-neighborhood-exchange
Rating: G
Relationships: Peter Parker & Tony Stark, Pepper Potts/Tony Stark, mentioned spideychelle, mentioned May/Happy.
Characters: Peter Parker, Tony Stark, Pepper Potts, Morgan Stark, Michelle Jones (mentioned), May Parker (mentioned), Happy Hogan (mentioned).
Summary:
When miss Potts told him that Tony had a migraine, it was a no brainer for him to swing over and help his mentor.
The older hero had been there many times for Peter so he was happy to repay the favour.
 Or
Tony has a migraine and Peter takes care of his mentor (totally not his dad or anything) for a change.
Read on AO3
Tony stirred slightly in his sleep when he felt the bed dip next to him. He went to open his eyes but they felt heavy, a dull throbbing pain behind his eyes made instead itself known, quickly joined by nausea twisting his stomach.
"Hey. I need you to wake up a little more, babe." Pepper's voice was quiet as she tried not to aggravate his migraine
He groaned but managed to force his eyes open. A sharp pain immediately replaced the throbbing in his temples.
Pepper sat on the bed next to him, dressed in one of her neatly pressed work outfits. Her hair was immaculate as always. She smoothed a hand over his own hair, brushing it away from his eyes before cupping his jaw. Her lithe fingers were cool against his face. She bent down and pressed a gentle kiss on the pained crease between his brows.
"I had FRIDAY cancel your meetings and appointments." she said to him softly. "I still have those conference calls with Singapore, so I can't stay, but I want you to rest, alright? I put a lock on your lab and Peter is coming over later to keep you company. Morgan is still at her sleepover until tonight so you don't have to worry after the little miss either." She smiled gently at him, knowing that, as much as he acted like he didn't care, he hated being alone.
Tony smiled back at her, feeling it come out as more of a grimace, but knowing that Pepper would understand. "Thank you." He managed to rasp out, feeling his brain pound with every syllable.
Pepper smiled lovingly at him. She ran her hand over his head and gave him another kiss before quickly and quietly sliding to her feet.
Tony was asleep again before she was even out the door.
---
When Miss Potts (now Stark) had called him, Peter was only slightly surprised. Before the Snap (no he didn't call it the Blip. That name made it seem like a five second glitch instead of the five year tragedy that it was) she would often call him to ask for his help in coralling Tony into doing something he didn't want to, such as the paperwork and contracts she had him look over and sign.
After the Snap where everyone had been brought back (and Mr. Stark losing his arm) she would call him for all manner of things ranging from asking him to help talk to Tony, or even herself, after a nightmare to helping Morgan decide on whether to wear her Spiderman hoodie or her Iron Man sneakers.
This time she had asked him to help with looking after his mentor. Once he learned that Tony had a migraine, he was immediately worried about being too loud or disturbing him. Afraid that he would just make it worse for the man.
Pepper had reassured him that it would be fine and that even if he did accidentally make a noise, Tony wouldn't be upset or cross with him.
Pepper was always calm and the voice of reason. She reminded him a lot of May at times.
Since she and May had become friends, she would also occasionally call or text Peter and ask how May's night shifts had gone so she wouldn't disturb the other woman's deserved rest. Peter was happy that May had been able to meet Pepper. That they had found a friend in each other.
He loved seeing May building friendships with someone. She deserved to get out more and socialize with someone outside of her work at the hospital and her 17 year old son nephew.
Peter was grateful that May had found a friend in Pepper. One that could understand the fear and hardship as well as the pride and love of dealing with a superhero loved one.
He was also happy that Tony had someone like Pepper in his life too. The man deserves people in his life who love him, people that aren't fake or just after his status and money.
Peter had seen first hand that Tony loved and was loved back by Mr. Rhodey and Happy as well as Pepper.
He knew that Tony loved him too even though the man was a lot more open in his affections, he would still occasionally have his "emotionally stunted" moments as Pepper called them.
The care and time he put into their lab days and pizza and movie nights before the Snap showed it well enough to Peter. The sleepovers, picnic days, and lake days out at the cabin after the return only strengthening the knowledge.
Peter was going to do his best to help Mr. Stark feel better because it was, and is, what the man had done for him so many times already.
'Hey, I'm Spiderman. I can't mess this up, right?' He thought to himself. 'There's nothing to worry about.'
There were absolutely things to worry about.
Peter had only just arrived and he had already messed up.
He'd gone up to the penthouse living area where the Stark's living quarters were (as well as Peter's own room just across the hallway from Tony and Pepper's and next door to Morgan's) and he had successfully put his backpack and suit in his room. He'd even changed into comfortable clothes and gotten some food ready to heat up for Tony if he felt up to eating later. He had felt pretty solid in his caretaking abilities.
He left the kitchen and walked up the hallway towards Tony's bedroom. He knocked quietly and waited. When he received no answer he opened the door softly, being mindful of his strength that he didn't push it too hard that it hit the wall. He tiptoed into the room, relieved that he hadn't woken or disturbed Tony yet.
Then he had to go and trip over the gauntlet for one of Tony's older Marks that was resting on the floor just inside the bedroom for some inexplicable reason.
It slid across the carpet and went careening into the leg of one of the drawers near the wall with a surprisingly loud clang. Tony flinched awake, a full body shudder from the man that had Peter cringing in a mixture of sympathy and guilt. He hadn't meant to wake him or aggravate the migraine that Tony was suffering from. His stomach twisted at the thought of ever hurting his mentor
Peter gasped, slapping a hand over his mouth. "Mr. Stark, I'm so sorry!" He whispered, a slight edge of panic in his voice.
Tony sat up carefully and leant back against the pillows behind him. He blinked a few times against the pain as his eyes tried to adjust to the dim light that FRIDAY had provided. He was relieved when the movement didn't bring back any of his earlier nausea. "Hi kid." He murmured, voice raspy from sleep. "S' ok. Shoulda picked it up las' night." He shifted over and patted the bed next to him, his mechanical arm whirring. The sound almost unnoticeable if not for Peter super hearing.
Peter crossed over and sat next to him. "Sorry I woke you up." He gave his mentor a sheepish smile before leaning into his side and hugging him, being careful not to smother him or squeeze him too hard.
Tony wrapped his arm around Peter's shoulders (the metal prosthesis still in its place in Tony's chest of drawers) and let himself relax into the pillows, his head falling back to rest against the headboard as he let his eyes close, grateful to the immediate reprieve from the light. Despite the throbbing in his head, he relished the feeling of having his kid next to him, grateful that they could have moments together. Moments that he had once thought were lost forever.
"Hey Mr. Stark?" Peter's voice broke through the quiet lull they had fallen into.
Tony hummed in response, his head turning slightly towards Peter but his eyes stayed closed.
"I brought some food over with me. Do you wanna try to eat something and move to the comfy room?" The boy asked, referring to the room entirely made of mattresses and pillows that they would use for anything from movie nights, to sensory overloads.
Tony thought for a moment. Some food would probably be good especially since he could only take his migraine medication with a full stomach.
He hummed again. "I think food is a good idea."
He moved his arm from Peter's shoulders and shifted to get off the bed. He let himself take the hand Peter offered to help steady him from the slight dizziness he felt after standing. Not eating because of the, now thankfully gone, nausea catching up to him.
Peter started leading them out to the hallway but paused just before the door. "You want me to get your arm or do you wanna just let it rest today?" He asked Tony, knowing that sometimes the man needed a break from the prosthesis since it would still tire him out or aggravate his stump at times.
"I think I'll give it a rest. Thanks kid." Tony answered and let himself be led to the kitchen, listening as Peter started rambling about the food choices he'd brought, not sure about what Tony would want and if he'd be nauseous and need something lighter for his stomach.
Tony just smiled.
---
After eating and getting Tony his medication, they were settled in a nest of pillows and blankets in the comfy room.
"How're May and Hap doin'?" Tony's quiet question breaching the comfortable silence.
Peter grinned at him from his place cuddled into the man's side. "Disgustingly happy." He faked a gag. "Really though, the pet names are going too far now. Who even says snookums anyway?"cute detail
Tony scoffed and poked him in the side. "Like you're one to talk. Have you seen yourself around MJ?" He smirked as the boy turned red.
"That's different!" Peter spluttered. They weren't so bad were they? He thought.
Tony just smiled at him, something shining in his eyes that Peter couldn't place. "How is scary spice anyway? She overthrown any world leaders yet?"
Peter chuckled. "Nah she's saving that for after college. She wants to have the right qualifications and knowledge to do it as impactfully as possible."
"That's good to know. Is she gonna have t-shirts printed? Because I want one."
"No idea." Peter laughed again. "I'll be sure to ask her next time we meet to talk about world domination."
"You do that, kid."
Their conversation slowly turned to silence again, both content to just be in each other's presence.
For the rest of the day they drifted between bursts of soft conversation, when the pain in Tony's head would dull, or quiet companionship.
Eventually they drifted to sleep. Content in their shared solitude.
 ---
After asking FRIDAY to keep her updated on how Tony and Peter were throughout the day, she knew that they had eaten and were resting together.
So when Pepper arrived back at the tower after finishing her work and picking up Morgan, she had the little girl eat some dinner before they bathed and changed into pyjamas.
Pepper quietly opened the door to the comfy room and carefully helped Morgan get cuddled next to Peter. She pressed a kiss to both their heads before she lay on Tony's other side and made sure that they were all covered by the blanket.
She let herself melt into the mattresses and cushions, giving into her tiredness after the day's work and letting her stress fade as she joined her family in their sleep.
---
When Tony woke up later it was dark and his migraine was gone, only a slight tenderness leftover. He turned slightly only to find himself entangled in blankets and the limbs of his kids and wife. He shifted carefully to not wake them and wrapped his arm around Pepper.
He let himself drift back to sleep, comforted by his family safe and close to him.
He could rest now.

Happy Fanfic Writer Friday!!! Can you share with us any underrated fics you think deserve some more love?
Happy FFWF friend! I'd sure love to, let me dig through my recent bookmarks! 😁
"Trade sweet sleep for fears" by @vintervittrannerd — this was my gift in the last Friendly Neighborhood Exchange, and it is so so good, it's everything I could have asked (and more!) for an Irondad nightmare trope fic. It hits that sweet spot where Tony and Peter are still new to their mentor/mentee relationship, and therefore still kinda awkward, but you can already see Tony's dad instincts shining through. And it's such a lovely, in-character, all-around well-written fic.
"They told him (until they didn't)" by @loneswagger — this one is Hydra Peter + biodad! Yes, in the same fic! And it works! The angst is amazing, especially at the ending, so if you know my taste in fics you can see why I absolutely love this one.
"Blood of the Covenant" by @dredfulhapiness — if you love Rhodey and Tony I could not recommend this fic to you enough. It's angsty, it's emotional, it's a beautiful character study, it deserves all the attention.

😍😎✋🏼 for the ask game!!
Reader Asks
😍 What is your favourite fic trope?
Ooh platonic cuddles for sure!!! I’ve realised that one of my stronger love languages is physical touch, so seeing completely platonic physical affection in fics like hugs, hair playing, forehead kisses etc. just make me so damn soft!!! (On an angsty note though I also love some good old fashioned hurt/comfort!)
😎 Who is your BroTP?
Irondad and Spiderson are my top tier platonic relationship, but besides them I also adore Rhodey and Tony, Peter and Ned, and Loki and Thor! I’d also love to see more Tony & Thor and Sam & Bucky & Peter interaction in fics though!
✋ What reader or write do you think most deserves a high five?
I’m going to give a shoutout to one of my favourite writers @jen27ny who makes amazing stories and requests with the best Irondad content! (Also they write stories almost daily?! Like what?! That deserves a high five alone!) That’s some skill right there, and every story is so engaging and unique! I love all their works, especially their Bio!Dad Tony AU, which I highly recommend!
Thanks so much for the asks, and I hope you have a great day!

IronDad Bingo 3: Car Crash
Tumblr media
This fic had an author’s note but Tumblr hates me and deleted all of it. So I don’t remember what it was. Thanks so much for reading though!
Wow I am so screwed.
Peter’s first thought upon getting into the car with a very miffed Mr.Stark. The teenager pulled off his mask and gave him a hopefully unassuming and innocent grin, his shoulders raising into a shrug. Rain pounded against the window shield aggressively.
“Oh, don’t give me that look, Spider-Idiot, you look like a wet rat and I am not impressed.” The tires squealed away from the curb, punctuating the mechanic’s ire.
“But Mr.Stark-”
“Save it,” Tony hissed, his heart thundering to the same beat as the rain outside, “you should know better than to be patrolling in this.”
“Crime doesn’t stop because it’s raining out,” Peter huffed. Instinctively, he wanted to shiver, but he knew that that would definitely not help his case. “I’m sorry I asked you to pick me up, I know I should have-”
“I’m going to stop you right there. I am not angry that you called me, alright? You need a ride? That’s fine, I’ll come and pick you up from wherever. What I am just a little bit annoyed about is that it is midnight and it has been pouring for hours and you just called me now.”
“I could have walked home.”
“Would you shut up and listen to what I’m saying? I don’t care that you called me. What I care about is that you have been in the freezing rain for at least four hours!” Peter shifted uncomfortably trying to focus on anything outside the window.
He really didn’t mean to stay out so late, he just lost track of time. And he knew that he wasn’t supposed to be out in bad weather (he got sick once) but the heater was on and like he said, he didn’t mean to be out for so long.
“You’ve gotta be more careful kid,” Tony’s voice softened, his initial anger leaving him. “We already know that your body has more trouble thermoregulating than someone who isn’t enhanced.”
“The heater was on.”
“We don’t know if that’s enough, don’t think I don’t see you shivering.” Peter grinned at him sheepishly, Tony sighed. What did he do to deserve this kid? “You wear boxers in the suit?”
The question caught the superhero off guard. “W-what?”
“Boxers, in the suit, are you wearing them?”
“Yeah…?”
“Good. Take off the suit, it’s just making you colder at this point. There’s a bag in the back seat with a clean change of clothes.”
“What?” Peter’s cheeks flushed as his voice rose about two octaves. He made a conscious effort to lower it as he continued. “No!”
To Peter’s further embarrassment, Tony chuckled at his attempt. “Calm down, I just don’t want a hypothermic child to deal with when we get home. I wont look.”
And despite how much Peter wanted to stomp his foot and refuse, he had to admit, the heater wasn’t doing shit anymore, he was really, really cold. And Mr.Stark had seen him out of the suit when he had to patch him up before, it was no big deal. Didn’t mean his ears didn’t burn red the entire time he had to shimmy into his new set of joggers and a t-shirt.
“Feel better Underoos?” Tony glanced out the side of his eye once he felt Peter stop moving around, his anger mostly dissipated. Teenagers do dumb shit, at least this one was just being dumb and not utterly stupid like Tony had been.
“Yeah,” the kid sighed, relaxing into his heated seat. He hadn’t known that that was on.
“Don’t think we aren’t done talking about this. You’re grounded.”
“What? Mr.Stark!” Peter protested, suddenly not so relaxed anymore.
“One more word out of you and I call Aunt May and tell her you didn’t show up for movie night.”
Peter closed his mouth.
“Good choice ki- Shit!”
Peter’s senses didn’t even have a chance to go haywire as the car suddenly slammed to a stop. Tony’s arm slammed into his chest, pushing him away from the shattering windshield. The horn blared from the car that had pulled in front of them. Lost control because of the rain. Peter felt the car continuing to move, a nauseating pause as it flipped over before a crushing force slammed into his chest.
It felt like he was being put through a blender. And it wasn’t stopping.
Until it did. Peter almost didn’t believe it, he didn’t think he knew what being still meant anymore. But then the pain hit, a bone-crushing ache that pounded through his entire body. Something warm trickled behind Peter’s ear, he realized with startling clarity that it was probably blood.
“M’ster St’rk?” He murmured, trying to lift his head enough to get a look at his mentor. He got no reply. “M’ster St’rk?” He was a little more panicked now. “Mister Stark!”
Mr.Stark had never failed to answer Peter before, but he did now. The teenager’s Spidey-Senses tingled, alerting him to further danger. Whatever it was, it didn’t bode well for the pair.
“C’mon M’ster S’ark, we gotta go…” Peter’s limbs felt like they were lead, but he still tried to move them. Sluggishly, the boy got his seatbelt to release, and then kicked out the mangled car door. He barely had the energy to move, but he somehow had energy enough to collapse out of the car. Agony pierced his arm, despondently he surmised that it was broken. “C’mon M’ster Stark…” he urged.
But his mentor didn’t move, he didn’t even moan.
“M’ster S’tark…” Peter tried again, “we gotta go…”
Panicking fingers tore their way up the car, pulling Peter into a semi-upright position. The blood and the rain cleared away from his vision, and the teenager suddenly realized what was so wrong.
Blood trickled down from Tony’s forehead, it soaked his arm where glass had shattered into it, soaked his chest just the same. He was bruised, battered, his head lolling forward, but worst of all, he wasn’t breathing, and Peter couldn’t hear his heartbeat.
No, this couldn’t be happening, this couldn’t be happening.
“Mr.Stark” the child wailed, throwing himself towards his mentor. The sight of his dying (dead) mentor was enough to clear the fog from Peter’s head. “Friday…?” There was no answer, she was offline. Wait. Peter was being so stupid, he has an AI too.
The teen hero desperately grappled in the backseat for his mask, feeling a burst of relief when his fingers made contact with the fabric.
“Karen, I need- I need help. Mr.Stark, he’s-he’s-”
“It appears you have been in a vehicular accident, Peter,” Karen’s soothing and assured voice cut over him. “You have sustained a fracture in your right ulna and a mild concussion. Tony Stark’s emergency services are on their way.”
“Karen, what about Tony? He isn’t breathing!”
“It appears the force of the crash has caused Mr.Stark to go into traumatic cardiac arrest. Immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation is advised. No spinal injuries detected.”
CPR, right, why didn’t he think of that? Peter knew how to do CPR, he should have done it the moment he realized Mr.Stark was-
He was out of the car and hauling Mr.Stark away from the carcass in the next breath.
“Careful Peter, your strength could crush his chest cavity. I will guide you through it.” Peter didn’t think he’d ever been more grateful for Karen than in that moment. “You need to break his ribs, but only on the first compression, then let up.” A green indicator appeared on Tony’s chest. “Right here, if you apply too much pressure this indicator will go red.”
Peter might have thrown up at the feeling of Tony’s ribs giving way under his head, if not for the adrenaline and panic pulsing through his blood. Karen’s voice grounded him as she confidently lead him.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine ten,
And one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, twenty,
And one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and thirty,
Two breaths.
Again Peter.
Again Peter.
Again Peter.
Again Peter.
By the time help came Peter was sobbing from exertion and pain, his arm screaming in agony, his mind screaming in anguish.
Happy and Rhodey were first. War Machine’s thrusters landed right beside Peter while the telling squeal of tires followed close behind. Peter noticed them but didn’t stop his compressions.
“Kid, kid!” Peter’s head whipped to meet Rhodey’s concerned gaze. “Let me switch in.” Peter shook his head. “The medical team is on their way, you’re exhausted, I can do it.”
Frantic footsteps ran towards them, Peter had never seen Happy run before. “How you doing kid?” Peter didn’t know how to respond so he didn’t. “You did a good job, but I need you to let Rhodey take over now, he’s going to do his best to save Tony too. Okay?”
Peter’s eyes flickered between the two men, and then back to Mr.Stark. He knew that he could trust them. Reluctantly, he tore himself away from the prone form and launched himself at Happy, unaware of how much he just needed to scream until he was doing it into the bodyguard’s chest.
“You did good kid, you did good.” Happy awkwardly held the kid, all too aware of the sirens getting closer and closer. “We’re going to get this mask off of you, there are people coming who can’t see it.” Peter felt the mask slip away from his hair. The rain pounded against his head and it was only then that he realized he was soaking wet still. “Alright, let’s get you into the car.”
“But… Mr.Stark…”
“Wouldn’t want you catching your death out here. I’m going to take us back to the Tower, that’s where he’s going too. It’ll be okay.”
Again, too exhausted to resist, Peter complied. He missed the look that Happy and Rhodey shared as he stumbled towards the car.
The medics arrived, saw him; Peter had a growing appreciation for Happy’s rarely seen wisdom. They saw the broken arm, Happy almost fought one to allow Peter entrance to the car.
The last thing he saw before the car peeled away was the medic’s surrounding Mr.Stark, but the last thing he heard wasn’t a heartbeat.
Tony woke up to the too familiar sound of a heartbeat. His heartbeat, if how sore he was was any indicator. Rhodey was stirring next to him, having fallen asleep on the chair.
“I feel like I was hit by a truck,” Tony mumbled.
“You were,” Rhodey replied, his mouth tipping upwards into a relieved smile. “Well, technically, not, but you were in a car accident.”
Tony nodded in acceptance before his eyes widened in fear. “Peter-!”
“Is okay,” the colonel reassured, gently pushing Tony’s shoulders back. “But you made sure of that, didn’t you?”
“Wha…?” Tony relaxed only because Rhodey would never lie to him. (Even when he tried Tony could aways tell.)
“Your arm was torn to shreds, glass everywhere, up your entire arm, almost like you…” Rhodey outstretched his arm, demonstrating the shield like motion Tony recognized as an instinct.
“I didn’t think, I just did it.”
“You kept him safe, Tones, you did great.” Tony recognized Rhodey’s MamaBear look, the little glint of worry in his eye.
“Was he hurt?”
“Broken arm, mild concussion. It could have been much worse, would have been, if it weren’t for you. You, on the other hand, did it your dammed best to kill me.”
“Aw, were you worried for me?” Rhodey tried to smile at his friend’s teasing, but the image of Tony, motionless on the pavement invaded his mind.
“You died, Tony. Your chest went into the steering wheel, caused Sudden Cardiac Arrest. When we found you two the kid was giving you CPR, saved your life.”
Tony sighed, “the kid saw me like that?”
“I just told you that your heart stopped, and you’re worried about the kid?”
“Occupational hazard.”
Rhodey smiled. “Parent-hood. He was pretty upset, I can go get him so you two can talk.” Which translated into: you’re going to talk right now.
“Bring him in.” Tony closed his eyes, just for a few seconds, but when he opened them again there was an enhanced teenager sitting in the bedside chair, rocking anxiously. “Hey Bud, heard we didn’t exactly get to start the movie.”
“Mr.Stark!” Peter sounded so relieved, yet still so worried and scared, and young. “I-I’m so sorry! If I hadn’t called you then you wouldn’t have been hurt and-”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down Underoos. This is not your fault.” Tony struggled to sit up, growing more and more frustrated with the hospital bed he found himself in. Peter helped him up gently.
“But if I hadn’t needed a ride-”
“It was an accident, Peter.” The full use of his name caught the teenager’s attention. “It was no one’s fault, not mine, not yours, not even the other car. We can yell at Thor for a bit if you want, but even I don’t think that will help.” Peter laughed flatly. “Repeat it back to me.”
“What?”
“Say ‘it was no one’s fault.’”
“It was no one’s fault.”
“Again.”
“It was no one’s fault.”
“Again.”
Again Peter.
“It was no one’s fault.”
“You saved my life.”
“I saved your life.”
“You know the drill.”
“I saved your life.”
“One more time.”
“I saved your life.”
“Yes, you did. I wouldn’t be alive if you hadn’t reacted exactly the way you did. Don’t ever forget that Spiderman is not some alter ego, Spiderman is Peter Parker, and Peter Parker is a hero.”
Tears rushed to the teen’s eyes, hitching his breath as he tried to reply. “Mr.Stark, I was so scared,” he cried.
Tony opened his arms, urging the teen to let him wrap him into a hug.
“But…” Peter sniffled, “your ribs… I felt them break.”
“I’m never going to be too sore to hug you, bambino. C’mere.”
Rhodey walked in on the pair a few hours later, sleeping peacefully side by side.

Do you have any Tony-centric fic recs? Platonic ones with the Avengers if you have any. 🙃😊

Nuh uh,” Tony says, wiping the tears from his cheeks. “You just. You don’t get it.”
“I do get it,” Rhodey says. “I speak Tony language, and Tony language says that you… um, you love the kid. That’s what.”
“I do not!” Tony yelps. “I hate him! A scourge on my life and soul! I cannot stand his squeaky shoes and his stupid big ears!” Tony takes a deep breath and then delicately screams. “Who let him have such big ears, he’s going to fall over when it’s windy there are sailboats with sails smaller than his ears.”
Rhodey lets his arms flop down onto his chest and turns his head on the floor. Tony can hear the bumps in his skull rolling on the linoleum. “Man,” he says. “You love that kid so much it’s disgusting.”

Rules: Answer 10 questions you were tagged with, come up with 10 more, and tag 10 people.
1. Favorite irondad fanfic and why?
Well dang that answer changes day to day honestly. I’ll pick one that I love with all my heart but I feel doesn’t get the adoration it deserves: Break in the Ether
It’s basically an Endgame retelling, and manages to give us our happy ending with a BIG dose of bittersweet and a lot is sacrificed.
2. What’s your favorite ironfam moment?
Probably any scene involving Rhodey and Tony. RDJ loved their brotherly bond so much and it really shows.
3. Do you prefer uncle Rhodey or uncle Happy? It can be both
oof, if I HAD to choose it’d be Rhodey cause I have an obvious soft spot for him, BUT both guys are amazing and I love them.
4. What do you want to happen in SM3?
MORE Aunt May more Morgan more Peter spending time with his family MORE him actually getting to deal with his traumas let’s do what IM3 did in terms of letting Peter SHOW he’s struggling and get some peace!!!
5. Favorite RDJ movie?
Iron Man lol. I like a lot of other movie’s he’s been in, but let’s all be real, Iron Man was the casting of a lifetime.
6. What’s the best-loved feature of the irondad fandom?
The fact that there’s so many creative individuals in this fandom. This is one of the most creative and varied fandoms I’ve been a part of, with so many different ideas and styles, it’s really amazing.
7. Name three of your fav marvel movies and tell us why.
How tacky would it be for me to just say IM1 2 and 3? no? ok.
Iron Man 1 has to go here cause, come on, it started this whole wild ride. Second would be SM: Homecoming because we were all so hype and it did not disappoint. aaaand for spot 3 imma go with IW, cause it led to a huge boom in the Irondad fandom, and we were all hurting over Peter’s death but we still had so much hope and hype for the future!
8. What makes Tony & Peter’s relationship so special for you?
I just adore Found Family guys. I’ve always been in love with that trope, in every fandom I’ve been a part of I’m drawn to it. And sadly it’s usually pushed to the side in favor of ship wars, so the irondad fandom is the first real fandom I’ve ever been in that’s actually devoted to a familial pair instead of a romantic one.
9. List your most beloved irondad moments from each movie.
Well IM2 we only got one moment but it’s still good. CW I loved that Tony immediately pulled Peter from the fight when he got hurt. SM:H I loved that scene where he awkwardly tries to praise Peter over the phone and talks about trying to ‘break the cycle of shame’. I really wish we’d gotten to see where that scene would’ve gone if Peter had been paying attention to Tony trying to be open with him. IW literally all their interactions are gold, I can’t pick one! And Endgame well we only got one so :/
10. Favorite Tom & Robert friendship moment?
Probably that scene waaaaay back when, when Tom crashed RDJ’s interview all done up like a mini RDJ. It was just so cute and funny.
Aww this was fun! Ok now I will tag fellow mcu fans! And the 10 questions will be:
1. Favorite member of the Ironfam - that’s not Tony or Peter!
2. What aspect of Peter and Tony’s dynamic do you love most?
3. What’s a trope you want to see written more?
4. Do you think Tony is a dog person or cat person? What about Peter?
5. A fic you wish had fanart.
6. What drew you in to the Irondad fandom?
7. One wish you have for Spiderman 3?
8. Which character do you wish was considered part of the Ironfam that most others don’t include.
9. Do you prefer Tony being a great cook or a terrible cook?
10. Top three favorite MCU films.
@stark-tony @i-am-irondad @peter-stank @run-dont-walk-away @justme--emily @aatticsaltt @fuckyeahtonystark
yes that’s only 7 not 10 but I have a feeling most of us have all been tagged at least once already, so feel free to ignore if you don’t wanna answer more questions!

IronDad Bingo Fic #1
So, y’all I did a thing!
Trope: Protective Peter Parker
Quick Disclaimer: Not TeamCap friendly. I love the Captain, I do, but I just made a thing... and I love the idea of Peter setting these guys straight.
Mr. Stark was a good person. That's all there was to it. He was kind, caring, guilt-ridden, and just an all-around good, good person. It was easy for any sane or reasonable person to see it. It was painfully obvious, no matter how much the man tried to deny it.
Then, sometimes there is just a person in your life that make you laugh a little louder, smile a little bigger and live just a bit better and Tony Stark was that person for Peter Parker.
So when the idiotic, self-righteous, recently pardoned Avengers just-just freaking WALKED IN THE COMPOUND… They accused  Mr. Stark as if he were the one that had committed the wrong, like he was the one to blame. No sir. Nope. Peter wasn't about to put up with crap like that. Nobody should ever treat such a person as Mr. Stark the way they treated him.
Tony Stark was the literal definition of rising above the flames. He suffered through trauma, and-and he suffered through loss after loss and betrayal after betrayal over and over again, and Peter was there to witness the resulting panic and anxiety stemming from it. The man would just give and give, and the world would just take and take. And it made Peter's blood boil when the man's supposed friends just showed up expecting to take even more from the man that had already given them so much.
“Bet you’re not too happy to see us either Stark.”
And, really, Peter wasn't supposed to be listening to the conversation… Mr. Stark had left a few minutes ago, instructing Peter to stay put and finish his homework as he went to greet his returning team members. He could hear the entire conversation, listening in without an ounce of guilt, and it took all his willpower to keep himself from marching straight in there and punching those idiots in the face as he listened to his mentor take each verbal blow without even trying to defend himself. Which, by the way, was such a Tony Stark thing for him to do.
“You aren’t gonna lock us in this time around are ya?”
Peter could already estimate the recovery time to be several weeks before he, Pepper and Rhodey are able to convince the genius that he wasn't at all what those ungrateful people had accused him of being.
“Tony, you can't just drop all of your superhero duties to an inexperienced vigilante. You're just encouraging him, and people are going to get hurt. You need to take more responsibility and step in, especially when the people need you. Just because the team had disbanded for a while, doesn't mean you can just take a break from protecting the people.”
That right there. That was the Last straw. Peter marched angrily out of the lab and into the common area where the group was assembled.
It was worse than he had pictured…
There stood Mr. Stark, all alone, standing off to face a group of disappointed Avengers with a blank stare. His chin was held high, but his mouth didn't move. He was stiff, and Peter was just barely able to notice him grabbing ahold of his left wrist, which was already shaking violently.
“How dare you,” Peter seethed, anger in his eyes as he surged onward towards the group.
Steve's eyes widen in surprise when he sees Peter storming into the room. Then he turns back to Tony.
“Tony, who’s this?”
“That's none of your goddamn business, Steven.” Peter snapped, squaring his shoulders as he came to stand next to his mentor.
Tony's eyes had widened in both surprise and anger when Peter stormed into the room. He looked just about ready to reprimand him for disobeying his direct orders, but Peter had a few things to say before he was sent back to the lab.
“Now I want you to listen, and listen closely you pricks,” he seethed. “You have no right to walk into this building and start accusing Mr. Stark like that. Unlike you, he spends his whole day working on trying to fix people's lives, to make them better. And, again, unlike you he gives a crap about the world and the people when they all collectively admit to the group they trust that they're scared. It is completely normal for people to want rules to know that they're being protected in a safe and controlled way! But no! Oh high and mighty Captain America skips along deciding the world is better protected in his own hands! ‘Screw these scared people begging for proper protection. They don't know what they're talking about, but I DO! I wanna do things my own way. Nobody gets to tell me what to do cuz I'm an awesome superhero that helped America when the War. Yippee.’” Peter waved his hands dramatically with a crazed look on his face.
He felt Mr. Stark's hand land on his shoulder and squeeze hard. Peter knew that meant to quit it. He knew the man was getting angry, but he wasn't finished.
“Yeah, nope. You decided to be an arrogant bastard. Then, you, along with the rest of your jolly crew, decide that it's not your own fault when the world and government turns against you for doing something they had explicitly explained they felt was wrong. Instead, you accuse the most innocent and pure man, who only wanted to keep you and the rest of the world safe… He tried to help you! And when things started to look bad, you tucked your tail between your legs and ran! Leaving all the responsibility on this guy! Then! Oh goodness,” Peter laughed humorlessly, “then you have the audacity to waltz in here after being in hiding for almost a year and accuse this man of being irresponsible? Really? Are you that stupid?” The hand on his shoulder squeezes harder.
“Peter,” his mentor warns, voice laced with gritted frustration.
“I'm not finished Mr. Stark,” Peter responds curtly, glancing quickly at him with a stern expression before turning back to the others.
“Back in Siberia? Yeah, you remember that? Yeah, well, Iron Man could have layed you out no problem, just in case you were wondering. Nope. He was the bigger man even when he found out your friend here killed his parents. And, yeah, I'll admit, Mr. Stark could have handled it better, I get that. But he had every goddamn right to feel betrayed and attacked in that bunker. He trusted you, and you lied to him. Then? Oh goodness, this is where it gets really good! You beat the crap out of him! You and you're buddy right there. I can't believe it. I just- wow. Worst friend of the year award- OW!” Peter's head cocks sideways when he feels a painful tug on his right ear.
“That's enough,” Tony responds vehemently, without relinquishing his tight hold on the spiderling’s ear.
“Owowow Mr. Stark,” Peter whined.
“I want you to apologize right now.”
“What?? No! Are you kidd- OwOwOw!”
Mr. Stark released his ear with a small tug and gave a tired sigh.
“You can't attack out of anger Peter. I've told you this. While some of what you said may be true, what they're saying is true too. Now, I want you to apologize and go back to lab where I told you to stay put.”
Peter glares, but, of course, Tony Stark's glare beat him out.
Peter hated how little Mr. Stark believed in himself. There was no need for the man to listen to the lies these people were feeding him. But, Mr. Stark was Mr. Stark, and goodness knows he wouldn't disobey him again.
He turns to look at the group of shell shocked heroes. “I just want you to know… I'm only apologizing because Mr. Stark is an amazing human being that none of you deserve.” His glare hardened and he risked a quick glance to the genius waiting expectantly beside him.
A mischievous grin grew onto his face. “I'm sorry for hurting you're insecure ego Mr. Captain America sir. And I'm only saying that because my dad told me to, not because I wanted to.”
Then, with that, he races out the room before any response could be given. No need to face the wrath of Iron Man before he had to.
Mr. Stark was the best, and he'd spend the rest of his life trying to make him believe it.
Not beta-d so sorry if it sucks
I’m so excited to try out this irondad bingo thing. Uber excited. We’ll see how it turns out I guess lol. Thank you so much @irondadbingo for making me my bingo card. I encourage you all to try it out!

(Fic) Empty Eyes
WARNING: CONTAINS ENDGAME SPOILERS! I’ll put the fic under the cut.
Fandom(s): Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers, Avengers: Endgame
Warnings: Character death, depressed Peter Parker, survivor’s guilt, graves, cemeteries, and self-deprecation.
Ship(s): Spiderson and Irondad, maybe mild Pepper/Tony
Even before he was dead, Tony Stark's eyes had been empty. Peter Parker's eyes reflected those of the broken man he'd watched die as he made his way to the cemetery, a small bunch of flowers in his hands. He didn't really know what else to get. Nothing seemed good enough. Happy, meanwhile, waited in the car for Peter to finish. He wanted to visit the grave of his old friend, but Happy knew that Peter needed time alone. Peter carefully placed the flowers on Tony's grave and knelt down, running a finger across the name engraved in the stone. His throat tightened and he quickly withdrew his hand.
"I can't believe you're really gone," Peter whispered, more to himself than anything. "The good guys aren't supposed to die..." He choked up and bowed his head, twisting the sleeve of his jacket in his hand. He fought back the tears that welled up in his eyes but despite all his efforts, they began to softly fall onto Peter's knees. The teenager sobbed quietly and his shoulders trembled as he gripped the top of the grave with one hand, his breathing shaky.
Peter watched in disbelief as Thanos' troops faded away into ash. He turned quickly, looking to see that none of his friends had disappeared like before, even patting himself a bit, and was met with a sight that made his blood run cold. Mr. Stark was leaning against a fallen wall from the Avengers Headquarters, the right half of his body badly burned. Peter's heartbeat quickened as he shot out a web and landed just behind Rhodey, who was already at his side. He could faintly hear himself call out his mentor's name, but he was in a daze as he stumbled forward and got on his knees in front of the fallen superhero. He looked like he was already dead. Peter's heart clenched as he desperately tried to get Mr. Stark's attention, his voice trembling. He grabbed onto him and tried to fight back tears.
"Hey, Mr. Stark, can you hear me?"  His voice was trembling from the effort it took to hold back sobs. "I-It's Peter." Tony's eyes flickered slightly and Peter let out a breathy sigh of relief, smiling faintly at the man in front of him. His next response was breathless. "hey... We won... Mr. Stark." Peter could feel himself say something else, but his mind was blank as tears swam in his vision. His voice broke and he felt a gentle hand slowly guide him away from Tony Stark's broken body. Ms. Potts- or, Mrs. Stark now, as Tony had explained when they had time during the battle, gave Peter a gentle squeeze and passed him to Rhodey, who kept a firm but comforting hand on his shoulder as Pepper knelt down in front of their husband. Peter watched as the couple spoke softly to only each other, and a small flame of hope sparked in his chest... Until Mr. Stark's reactor slowly turned dark and his hand slipped off of Pepper's. Peter collapsed onto his hands and knees, his teeth clenched as his body heaved with deep sobs.
Peter hugged himself and sobbed, bent over with his forehead pressed against the grass. He gasped for air and shook as his tears fell rapidly, streaking down his cheeks. He felt so lost without Tony being here. Being Spider-Man, being mentored by Tony, had been one of the few things that Peter had lived for. Peter needed Mr. Stark. The entire world needed Mr. Stark. As Peter sobbed and trembled, he didn't notice Happy hesitate before stepping out of the car, cautiously making his way over to the distraught teenager. Peter flinched as a large hand rested on his shoulder and looked up to see Happy looking down on him with a conflicted expression.
"You know, Tony wouldn't want to see you like this," Happy muttered. Peter shaky lifted himself up off the ground and sat back on his heels, his sobs slowly quieting as he stared blankly at the grave. When Peter didn't answer, Happy sighed and sat down next to the kid. "Look, kid, I know you miss him. All of us do. He was great-"
"It should've been me," Peter interrupted, cutting off the man next to him. Happy blinked and tried to retort, but Peter beat him to it. "Mr. Stark didn't deserve to die. I could've...I could've done it...I don't really mean much to anybody," Peter continued softly, looking down and wringing his jacket in his hand. "MJ and Ned could find other friends... Aunt May would be sad at first but she knows other people... and... and Mr. Stark n-never really..." Peter's voice trailed off and his lip trembled as he quickly wiped his eyes on his sleeve. His eyes were already red and puffy from crying and Happy felt panicked at the thought of this young boy beside him breaking down again as he'd seen from the car. Hesitating, he wrapped an arm around Peter and pulled him close.
"I'd miss you," Happy admitted. Peter blinked and looked up at Happy in shock. Quickly covering his tracks, the man finished, "I mean, who else would give me calls at every hour of the day?" Peter let out a soft chuckle and leaned into Happy's side, closing his eyes for a brief moment. Happy felt the same surge of protectiveness he'd had the day of the funeral when he saw little Morgan crying on her family's porch. "Other people would miss you too. Your Aunt May already lost your Uncle, you and Ned have been best friends since...forever..." Happy stopped himself from telling Peter how much the two of them reminded him of Tony and himself. "Now, MJ, pretty sure that girl has the hots for you-" Peter gave a start and his face turned crimson red, making Happy smile. "Oh come on, you can see it from a mile away. Anyways, Pepper sees you like a son after all the time you spent at the Stark tower... as for Tony, he practically went crazy when you died the first time around. After he got rescued from space, that's when everyone really noticed it. He always carried a picture of you in his wallet, and he has a framed picture of the two of you that he keeps by the sink... you two are giving each other bunny ears and holding some sort of certificate. He missed you every day. If you'd died, again, he would've put himself through hell. You meant a lot more to him than you thought, kid," Happy said. Peter stayed quiet, but Happy felt the teen's grip on him tighten slightly.
"You mean it?" Peter whispered. "Mr. Stark really missed me?"
"Yeah. Yeah, he missed you. A lot. If he'd seen you die twice... I don't even want to think about what that would do to him." Peter bit his lip.
"Me neither," he admitted softly, sighing and sitting back up, pulling away from Happy. "I think I'm ready to go home..." Peter continued, standing up and brushing the dirt off his knees. He hesitated. "Do you need a minute with him? I can wait for a bit," Peter offered. Happy smiled and pat the kid's shoulder affectionately, giving him a nod. Peter made his way back to the car and Happy sighed, standing back up and facing Tony Stark's grave. He stood in silence for a moment. Part of him couldn't believe that his best friend was really, truly dead, but the rest of him knew that Tony would'be wanted to die this way; protecting the ones he loved.
"Don't worry, Tony. I'll keep an eye on them. Pepper, Morgan, Peter, all of them... I'll keep them safe for you, bud," Happy said, giving the grave a curt nod. He could've sworn he heard the familiar chuckle of the inventor, but dismissed it and gave the grave one last gaze before strolling back to the car. As Happy drove off with Peter, a soft rain began to fall, painting the gravestone and flowers with streaks of water.
