DOES!! RGB!! KNOW!! HOW!! TO!! SWIM!!!!!!!!
SORT!! OF!!!!!!!!
she's entirely useless without her shark tail attachment, which she can swap her normal tail for- she's not quite as bad as say, Sonic the Hedgehog, but her best swimming style without assistance is a doggy paddle...
she doesn't mind water, and if ocean exploration is the way to go, she will simply just let herself float to the bottom and walk along the bottom of the sea floor- she's highly resistant to depth pressure and she's able to breathe underwater just fine. should she do this? probably not. is she going to do it anyways because she can't be bothered to make an effort to swim? yeah.
does she enjoy coming out of the water and being absolutely sopping wet- a soggy beast? absolutely not- it'll take hours for her fur to dry out

Remember, when using these prompts, you need to include your subject before the rest of the prompt.  For example, Copy Code Copied Use a different Browser Cats in space with a galaxy background, On-Camera Flash, Auto Focus, ISO 800, Standard Picture Mode, Auto White Balance --ar 2:3 --v 5
To create exciting effects, you can experiment with different combinations of settings. Here are some suggestions: Change the lighting: Try swapping out the lighting source or technique (e.g., on-camera flash, off-camera flash, natural lighting, softbox lighting, umbrella lighting) to see how it impacts the mood and feel of your images. Adjust the focus: Play with different focus modes (e.g., autofocus, manual focus, single focus, continuous focus, macro focus, selective focus) to create unique effects or emphasize specific aspects of your subject. Tweak the ISO settings: Altering the ISO settings can help you control the image's brightness, noise, and overall quality. Experiment with higher or lower ISO values to see how it changes the outcome. Modify picture modes: By changing the picture mode (e.g., standard, landscape, vivid, fine detail, monochrome, neutral, faithful, black and white), you can create various visual styles and effects. Customize white balance: Experimenting with different white balance settings (e.g., auto, custom, daylight/sunny, cloudy, shade, tungsten/incandescent) allows you to manipulate the colour temperature and overall tone of your images. Adjust aspect ratio and verbosity: Changing the aspect ratio (e.g., 2:3, 3:2, 16:9) and the Midjourney version (e.g., --v 5, --v4) can impact the composition and level of detail in your images. Try different combinations to see what works best for your subject. The key is to have fun experimenting with these settings to create your unique style or recreate the techniques from our post. Mix and match the elements to find the perfect combination for your subject. And most importantly, enjoy the creative process! #image_1274263483 { width: 100%; } #section_714270430 { padding-top: 30px; padding-bottom: 30px; margin-bottom: 30px; background-color: rgb(40, 40, 40); } AI in Photography: The Future is Now Artificial intelligence has come a long way, and its integration into photography is nothing short of transformative. With advancements in image recognition, AI-driven editing tools, and AI-generated images, photography's future is bright and brimming with innovation. AI-powered image recognition has made it possible to quickly and accurately identify objects, people, and emotions within photos. This technology can benefit photographers looking to sort and catalogue extensive collections of images and businesses that rely on visual content for marketing and sales. Additionally, AI-driven editing tools are revolutionizing how photographers and artists approach post-processing. These tools can automatically enhance images, fix common issues like exposure and colour balance, and even generate complex edits that would have taken hours to do manually. With AI assistance, photographers can spend less time on tedious tasks and more time focusing on creativity and capturing the perfect shot. As AI-generated images become more sophisticated, we also witness the rise of entirely new art forms and styles. Artists and photographers are now collaborating with AI to produce stunning and unique visuals, blending human creativity with the power of advanced algorithms. #image_398631646 { width: 100%; } #section_1882531041 { padding-top: 30px; padding-bottom: 30px; margin-bottom: 30px; background-color: rgb(40, 40, 40); } Ethics and AI-generated Images As AI-generated images grow increasingly realistic, addressing the ethical implications of using such technology is crucial. In this rapidly evolving field, understanding consent, ownership, and the potential for misuse is essential to ensure the responsible use of AI-generated images. Consent is a critical issue when it comes to AI-generated images. For instance, using someone's likeness without permission can lead to privacy concerns and potential legal problems. It's vital to ensure that AI-generated images involving real people are created and shared with their knowledge and consent. Ownership and intellectual property rights can be complex in AI-generated images.
Who owns the copyright to an image created by an AI: the person who provided the input or the AI itself? As the law continues to evolve, creators must stay informed about the latest copyright and intellectual property developments. Finally, the potential for misuse of AI-generated images is a growing concern. Deepfakes, for example, are AI-generated videos that can manipulate the appearance and actions of individuals, often with malicious intent. To combat the negative impacts of such technology, we must be vigilant and promote transparency and accountability in the AI community. Final words And there you have it – a comprehensive gallery post showcasing a variety of image prompt techniques, complete with examples and copyable code for your projects. We hope you enjoyed exploring the diverse world of AI-generated photography and found some inspiration. Animal Experience Station
Tells more about the research and development process of this project.
Project Description:
We inhabit the same world as animals, but humans all too often dominate their lives and impact their wellbeing immensely. Through daily observation as a city dweller, I noticed that there is far too much cruelty to animals surrounding us.
I hope that this project enables young urbal dwellers to experience the world of animals on a more intuitive level and through doing so create a new form of empathetic emotional bond with them. Whether one is the participant, or merely an onlooker, the project seeks to reduce the sense of 'otherness' that people often place on animals, as well as initiating re-consider the relation between human and animal, continuing a discourse within the field of non-anthropocentric design.
Process video https://youtu.be/tyBySdBgzs0
Inspiration:
I once saw chefs in restaurants making live octopus into dishes in front of diners and even let the diners ‘torture’ the live octopus and eat it. This restaurant in Shanghai is also very famous for this feature.
But this actually reminds me more of the performance death of animals.Humans and animals share this earth, but often treat them like this. :(
Tumblr media
Due to this, I do some research on animal performance death in China. The truth is, this kind of news can be seen everywhere, such as hitting a sheep to death in front of diners, or eating live seafood live on a video app.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though these news,I still remember that once I saw a live fish used as a video material in a shooting scene and was left and ‘tortured’ to death by people.
Also,I drew inspiration of two documentary. ‘Dominion’ By Chris Delforce
Tumblr media
‘Racing Extinction’ By Louie Psihoyos
Tumblr media
These two documentaries are very real about the harm that humans have caused to farmed animals and endangered animal. The ‘Racing Exhibition’ even predicted that ‘In the next 100 years, 50% of species will disappear. The biggest reason is because of human behavior.’
It leded me to think if we swap the position what will we feel? In that cases ,will we have a better understanding of them and emphasis with them?
Tumblr media
In addition to second-hand research, I also conducted some first-hand research. I asked others if they would be able to empathize with animals, and the results showed that people are more inclined to empathize with pets or animals that are close in daily life (pigs/sheep). This instead reminds me of those wild animals, those animals that we rarely come into contact with.
Then,I went to Shanghai Wild Animal Zoo, where people can interact with wild animals and feed them. Now days a lot of urban residents will go here.
However, through observation, I found that as a urbal dwellers, I can only interact with these animals through cages and glass. This phenomenon gave me a deeper thinking about the relationship between urban residents and wild animals.
I also want to use this project to let people know the status of these animals.
Due to this thinking, I decide to do more research about the relationship between human and animal that I want to discuss.
Research
‘Tiger Penis Project’ By Kuang-Yi Ku
https://www.tigerpenisproject.com
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I truly think this artist brought tradition Chinese views into the speculative design scene and proposed the use of emerging biotechnology to make artificial animal parts for traditional Chinese medicine. This new hybrid medicine combines Chinese and Western medicine with technology, prevents further destruction of animals and traditional culture, and provides more possibilities for the coexistence of human society and the natural environment.
‘I want delivery a dolphin’ By Ai Hasegawa
https://www.dezeen.com/2013/11/18/i-wanna-deliver-a-dolphin-synthetic-biology-concept-humans-giving-birth-to-food-by-ai-hasegawa/
Tumblr media Tumblr media
‘This project approaches the problem of human reproduction in an age of overcrowding, overdevelopment and environmental crisis,’ Hasegawa said. "With potential food shortages and a population of nearly seven billion people, would a woman consider incubating and giving birth to an endangered species such as a shark, tuna or dolphin?"
This speculative and experimental design gives me a deeper thinking about the relationship between humans and animals. I also want to create a special experience to connect humans and animals. This is also about the field of non-anthropocentric design.
‘The School of Looking’ By Denis Connolly and Anne Cleary
http://www.connolly-cleary.com/Home/helmets.html
Tumblr media
I was inspired by these artists, who mixed machine, human and animal experience together through a series of helmet designs, not only providing participant with an experience but also creating an interesting experience for on lookers.
Drawing upon this, I imagined a way of bringing people into the world of animals with a playful focus.
Through ‘Design events: on explorations of a nonanthropocentric framework in desig‘ By Li Jönsson, I found the helmet is a special form of speculative design,It's also a form of combining design and audience closer.

‘Song of the Machine’ By SuperfIux
https://superflux.in/index.php/work/song-of-the-machine/#
SuperfIux created a new type of retinal prosthesis, helping the blind to reconnect with the world. The device, in conjunction with an optogenetic retinal process, enables blind people to gain light sensitivity and therefore gain a field of vision.
Tumblr media
My design proposal was influenced further through this work. I intend to design a wearable device that could alter our field of vision and create optical experiences which allow people to see the world through the eyes of animals.
‘Simulation is an important mechanism for empathy. Simulation is an ancient function of the human nervous system, which is of great significance in social life and individual development.’
From ‘Embodied simulation phenomena and neural mechanisms in empathy’, Chinese Journal of Clinical Psychology, Sun Yabin, Wang Jinyan, Luo Fei.
The above quote led me to consider whether simulation could be a design tool to connect humans and animals.
Additionally, a TED talk titled ‘How Virtual Reality Can Create the Ultimate Empathy Machine’ By Chris Milk made me reflect on the use of VR as a 'machine' to create simulation and change people's perspectives.
https://www.ted.com/talks/chris_milk_how_virtual_reality_can_create_the_ultimate_empathy_machine
Tumblr media
Sorry for the unclear picture quality:(((((
Through this research, I decided to create a simulation visual experience for my audience to help them observe the world of animals and create a connection, with the aim of generating a deeper sense of empathy among humans for the lives on animals.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though 134 questionnaires, I discovered that people were intensely interested in entering the world of animals. Also, after screening my survey results, I decided on the octopus, eagle, and snake as the animals I wanted to simulate the field of vision of, not only because people are curious about their vision, but also because these three animals represent the species that often be hunted from the ocean, land and the sky.
In addition, these three animals are also suffering some harm caused by humans. For example, in China we will regard snakes as important and drink liquor that made by snake. We do eat octopus raw and treat it as a pleasure. We did have some news about eagles being hunted and killed and they are on the verge of extinction.

‘RGB’ By Carnovsky
https://www.carnovsky.com/RGB.htm
Tumblr media
The designer allows visitors to see different graphics through different colors of lighting, thus creating a visual space with a strong sense of experience. The space and the lighting have enhanced the experience. It also led me to think that  use different color to change the audience visual experience.
Concept
Through all the research, I have finalized my concept. I am going to build a experience station that contain a series of wearable devices and enviroment to simulate the animal experience. Aiming to allow young urban residents to re-consider the relationship between human and animal, and pay attention to the current state of animals, finally empathize with them through a mixed experience.
Process of Helmets
The octopus can change the shape of its pupil to receive different colors of light.Theoretical source: https://octolab.tv/octopus- vision/
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the beginning, I did not deliberately decide on the shape of the helmet. I pay more attention to how to realize the conversion of visual functions, and I hope I can improve it later.
I even want people to simulate the living conditions of these animals before wearing my helmet, but later I hope that people will wear helmets to communicate and walk in this city in an playful way,I think the project seeks to reduce the sense of 'otherness' that people often place on animals, as well as initiating re-consider the relation between human and animal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lenses material:The lens is laser cut and spray-painted on the basis of colored acrylic to simulate the shape and color of the octopus pupil.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The angle of view of the eagle can focus and magnify a very small object with a light red color. Theoretical source:’Vision In Birds’ By Graham R Martin and Daniel Osorio
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tested the effects of magnifying glasses with different magnifications, and I finally chose a 15x magnifying glass, which does not make people feel dizzy but has a magnifying effect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lenses material: magnifying glass and translucent paper.
Tumblr media
Snakes have very weak eyesight, but they can simulate images through heat sensing and through sensitive other senses.Theoretical source: ‘The Infrared ’Vision’ of Snakes’ By Eric A. Newman and Peter Hartline
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lenses material:At the beginning, I used simple graphics to experience the effects of VR, and the colors were generated according to the visual effects of thermal induction. Finally there will be a dynamic image of a snake in the VR glasses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
User Feedback
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tested these three helmets and got feedback from users and observers.
From the observers point of view, these helmets lack the feeling of three animals, and I need to add some texture and color to them.
From the user’s point of view, the helmet should be more ergonomic, and the use of lenses and helmets will not give people a sufficient sense of experience.
Because the visual effects of these three animals are quite special, I need some other products or environments to watch them in order to provide a better experience. Finally, I decided to make a series of posters.
Process of Poster and Logo
When designing the posters, I used the three primary colors of light (Red/Green/Blue) as the basis and designed patterns based on the visual characteristics of the three animals.
Tumblr media
I also left short words on the poster in the form of a diary. For example, when visitors wear the octopus helmet, they can see different words by changing different lenses.
When visitors wear the eagle helmet, they need to use a magnifying glass to see the smaller words.
The snake poster itself has no information. But when visitors put on the snake's helmet, they can see a dynamic video with VR
Video link:https://youtu.be/tBUssmG6YjA
My helmet is mainly based on visual functions and has a role of changing perspectives. So the logo is based on the elements of ’eye’ and ’transition’.
I do some sketches and confirmed the final effect of logo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Second Prototype
Since the materials used in the previous helmet were not stiff enough, I remade it with corrugated paper.
Due to the limitation of the material, I used a better colored spray paint to decorate the helmet, but the finished product was not refined enough, so this became the second model. I pair these prototypes  with posters to test the user experience, which will help me when I make the final outcome.
Tumblr media
Process of final outcome
I re-adjusted the structure and decoration, using the three primary colors to redesign the color and pattern of the helmet. The pattern is processed in the simplest way according to the lines on the animal body, and the final outcome is performed by laser cutting.

User feedback:
1. The helmet is not easy for the user to wear with its current structure, so it needs to be considered more. 2. It would be interesting to get people to interact with each other when they have a helmet on, and it could be good to develop this into a performance and walk out onto the street to get more feedback. 3. More interactive devices can be designed, not just visuals, but other senses could also be incorporated. Currently, the experience of the animal is not strong enough.
Self-refIection:
1. The experience space could be set outdoors, allowing the audience to experience the animals' preferred habitats. 2. AR/VR and other technologies can be used to enhance the visual experience of different animals. So as to give the experiencer a more real experience. 3. Considering the scope and effect of communication, a visual branding system can be designed to integrate the helmet with the packaging and website.

The first section of the exhibition examines bags as practical objects designed to hold our belongings – from holiday outfits to confidential documents, make-up to money and even gas masks. Rare exhibits on show include a large embroidered burse used to protect Elizabeth I's Great Seal of England, a gas mask bag owned by HRH Queen Mary during the Second World War, Winston Churchill's red despatch box and Vivien Leigh's attaché case, as well as a striking Louis Vuitton trunk from the early 1900s.
Titled Status and Identity, the second of the exhibition sections looks at the central role of the bag in celebrity culture as well as its notoriety amongst the political and societal elite. Featuring a Hermès 'Kelly' named in honour of Grace Kelly, a 'Lady Dior' handbag named after Princess Diana, the Fendi 'Baguette' bag worn by and stolen from Sarah Jessica Parker in one of Sex and the City's most famous scenes and a gold Louis Vuitton 'Monogram Miroir' Speedy bag by Marc Jacobs popularised by Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian. The first-ever made Hermès Birkin bag, owned by Jane Birkin, and Mulberry handbags worn by Kate Moss and Alexa Chung also feature.
Tumblr media
The use of bags as a blank canvas for slogans, personal statements and political messages and their role as a public platform to share beliefs and convictions is represented through objects including an anti-slavery reticule bag from 1825, the 'I am NOT a Plastic Bag' tote by Anya Hindmarch and a 'My Body My Business' handbag by artist and activist Michele Pred.

The final section of the show will look at the Design and Making process from sketch to sample, sewing to selling. A 'maker's table' will allow visitors to get up close with bag making processes and materials, alongside newly commissioned interviews with designers and makers. Sketches, samples and prototypes from international fashion houses and the UK luxury brand Mulberry will show the innovative early stages of the design process.
A hotbed for collaboration, the bag offers an opportunity for experimentation and statement designs. A 17th-century purse in the shape of a frog, Thom Browne's handbag in the form of his dog Hector and a Chanel bag transformed into a milk carton will explore the surrealism and humour evoked through accessories.

The exhibition finishes with designers experimenting with innovative and environmentally sustainable materials, including a Stella McCartney backpack made from recycled ocean plastic waste and a bag crafted from decommissioned fire hoses by Elvis and Kresse.

Artwork Excerpts: 1. Trench, Virtual Reality Project Screen Recording, 00:00 - 00:40, Trench is a virtual reality project that is set in a digitally simulated space resembling an abstracted oceanic environment not unlike the Mariana Trench. While diving deeper within the simulation, the participant approach’s various CGI marine-like objects, which will trigger natural and glitched phenomena that alter the digital experience. The glitching and abstraction of these objects and environment will be based on the visualization of data from environmental research. 2. Karst, Virtual Reality Project Installation Documentation and Screening Recording, 00:42 – 01:34, Karst is multi-level virtual reality visual and sound experience/artwork that creates liminal spaces in between the representational and the theatrical, the limited and the multi-dimensional, and the abstract and the real for people to visit and experience. The multiple scenes in Karst reference a variety of places in our reality that is being limited to be visited because of various reasons, revealing human’s relationship to the larger world. It pushes the boundaries of landscape art by putting natural ecologies and human environmental interventions in dialogue through immersive VR. It also attempts to embody the concept of Plato’s cave in the medium of a virtually constructed realm, providing a contemplative environment for the visitor to wonder; walking and teleporting within the control of the wireframed virtual hands that are given to them. 3. Gorges, Three Channel 3D Moving Image Installation, 01:35 – 01:53, Gorges is a three-channel 3D Moving Image project that contemplates contemporary technological society’s relationship with the natural world. While clouds are synonymous with digital culture, rendered rivers and mountains are realistically depicted stationary with highly saturated color directly from the RGB scale. The naturalistic compositions tie visually to landscape paintings (both Chinese and Western), play on perception and desire for a relationship with nature; yet it is synthetic, a liminal realm that we experience but cannot touch. Gorges offers an experience of the digital sublime, which overlaps with our perception of the digital, landscape, our relationship with each, and the fundamental questions that follow, peering into the nature of our existence. 4. Bask, Single Channel 3D Moving Image, 01:54 – 02:34, Bask is a 3D animation utilizing Maya particle simulation to recreate satellite image sequences of the sun’s corona and photosphere. This work is an exploration of our use of imaging when processing experiences that go beyond the limitations of our physical perception. The entity of the sun, which from our vantage point is functionally infinite and blinding, is processed as images representing what we cannot naturally see, and then synthesized through particle simulation, recontextualized and recreated within the techno sublime for our exploration within a virtual liminal space – a reversal of our experience as observers of the natural sublime. 5. Pro, 3D Moving Image Installation Documentation, 02:35 – 03:00, Pro is a video installation that reveals the simulated virtual environments within the structure of 2 curved while walls. Relating to the vertical framing motif of Chinese traditional landscape painting, Pro invites the viewer into a familiar but also un-known space of digital hyper-reality.

Google Maps updates with a ‘more vibrant’ appearance
Google has rolled out a worldwide update of its popular maps app to give terrain a ‘more vibrant’, detailed and colourful appearance.
The visual makeover adds greater detail and makes natural features easier to see, such as beaches, deserts, lakes or snow caps on the peaks of mountaintops.
The updates gives Google ‘one of the most comprehensive views of natural features on any major map app’, the tech giant has said.
The redesign will be available across all 220 countries and territories that Google Maps supports, starting this week.
Scroll down for video
Google is rolling out visual improvements that bring even more detail and granularity to the map. This before and after of Croatia in Maps shows more landscape detail. Users can clearly make out the beaches and greenery that line Croiatia’s coast and nearby islands like Hvar
‘We’re rolling out new visual improvements that bring even more detail and granularity to the map, making it easier to understand what an area looks like whether you’re exploring virtually or planning a visit,’ said Google Maps product manager Sujoy Banerjee in a blog post.
‘With a new colour-mapping algorithmic technique, we’re able to take this imagery and translate it into an even more comprehensive, vibrant map of an area at global scale.
‘Exploring a place gives you a look at its natural features – so you can easily distinguish tan, arid beaches and deserts from blue lakes, rivers, oceans and ravines.
Iceland’s mountains and glaciers are better represented by the new update, which is due to roll out this week
‘You can know at a glance how lush and green a place is with vegetation, and even see if there are snow caps on the peaks of mountaintops.
Google has used a new colour-mapping algorithmic technique to make the service, which launched 15 years ago, visually richer.
In Iceland for example, Vatnajökull, the largest ice cap in the country, is now shown in white, while rocky areas are of the country in the north are in light brown.
The caps, mountainous ridges and surrounding vegetation of Mount Rainer National Park in the US, meanwhile, are also more clearly visible.
Before and after shows extra detail added to Morocco on the west coast of Africa, including dense vegetation in the north
With this update, Google Maps has ‘one of the most comprehensive views of natural features on any major map app’
Previously, the colour coding on Maps was largely limited to green and brown, with lightly shaded areas to denote urban centres.
For the update, Google has used computer vision to identify natural features from satellite imagery, looking specifically at arid, icy, forested, and mountainous regions.
It’s then analysed these features and assigned them a range of colours on the HSV (hue, saturation, value) colour model.
HSV was developed in the 1970s as an update to the more primitive primary coloured RGB (red, blue, green) colour model.
This means a densely covered forest can be portrayed as dark green, while making an area of patchy shrubs a lighter shade of the colour.
Mount Rainer National Park in the US. The update aims to make it easier for users to understand what an area looks like when planning a visit
Sedona, Arizona in the US. The new update (right) reelects its desert landscape and more clearly displays where Red Rock State Park is
With this update, Google hopes to give users a clearer idea of what to expect from the terrain before they embark on a journey and ‘get a feel for an area’.
Google also revealed that a more detailed street view is also in the pipeline, which will start with London, New York, and San Francisco in the coming months, with plans to expand to more cities over time.
This update will show the accurate shape and width of a road to scale, Google said, allowing people to see exactly where features like pavements, crossings and pedestrian islands are located.
This is crucial information for Maps users who have accessibility needs, like wheelchair or stroller requirements, it said.
These details will also be particularly helpful during the coronavirus pandemic, as more people are opting to walk or take other forms of solo transportation.
Google Maps, which launched in 2005, is used by more than 1 billion people every month, the company said.
15 YEARS OF GOOGLE MAPS
A shot of Google Maps as it looked when it launched 15 years ago. Google says the service has since ‘redefined what it means to be a map’
– On February 8, 2005, Google Maps was first launched for desktop as a new solution to help people ‘get from point A to point B’.
– Just a few months later, Google Earth was launched, bringing 3D views of the planet. Today, Google Earth features more than 36 million square miles of high-definition satellite images.
– In December 2005, Portland, Oregon became the first city to use Transit Trip Planner, helping commuters see public transit schedules and routes. It started as a standalone product but was eventually folded into Google Maps.
An early version of traffic conditions in Maps for desktop. Google Maps introduced real-time info on traffic conditions for more than 30 US cities two years after launching
– About two years after launching Google Maps, the company introduced real-time info on traffic conditions for more than 30 US cities.
– On May 29, 2007, Google Street View debuted. Many of us will remember the seeing a Google car driving past capturing footage of the streets.
– In November 2007 Maps went mobile. Google released version 2.0 of Google Maps for mobile, available for Blackberry, Palm devices and others. In 2008, its first Android app launched, followed by the iOS app in 2012.
Google Trekkers could help fill the gaps in Google Maps by taking a 360 degree camera housed in a backpack on hiking trips
–  In 2012 it introduced the Street View Trekker, letting people capture hard-to-reach footage on foot, using high-tech equipment packed into a backpack.
– In November 2015, Google launched offline maps, letting offline users still benefit from Google’s driving directions and search for specific destinations.
– In February 2019 came Live View, which uses augmented reality to help users understand which way to walk, with arrows and directions clearly overlaid.
Augmented reality in Google Maps helps users get to their destination

The Ultimate Guide to Gifts for Designers and Creatives
Designers can be hard to shop for (especially when “shopping” for each other). We like things like ampersands. We get excited about color palettes. We’re hyper-opinionated about our tools. And we really, truly, do not want another notebook. (Well, not unless it’s a really nicely designed notebook.) This wide-ranging round-up of gifts for designers will suit every creative on your list (and sure, that can include yourself).
For the politically engaged designer
Posters for Change: Tear, Paste, Protest The collective effort of dozens of designers from around the world, this gathering of 50 unapologetically opinionated posters is designed to be seen and heard. Each poster in the book has perforations for easy removal.
Don’t Sleep: The Urgent Messages of Oliver Munday Leading graphic designer Oliver Munday uses graphic design to provoke change. Don’t Sleep is as much a bold statement for action as it is a reflection of Munday’s philosophy, personal background, and skill for producing design that speaks out in today’s political and social climate.
Cheesy Pizza Chalk Set Whether you’re protesting, building awareness, or fundraising for a cause, chalk is a must. But it’s so much better in the form of pizza. Each “slice” is four inches long.
For the designer who sees a future artist in every kid
Frank Lloyd Wright Wooden Puzzle Set This set of wooden puzzles contains six fun challenges for kids and adults. Each brightly colored puzzle contains 25 pieces and forms a square.
Baby Art Gallery: Turn Your Baby Into An Art Critic The box cheekily says, “The perfect gift for over-achieving parents!” But really, these black and white flashcards make a fun gift for anyone who loves sharing art with kids. One box contains eight double-sided cards.
World Map Coloring Tablecloth With 10 washable markers and a map of the world, kids can scribble, learn, and eat all in one place—a good skill set for design school.
Seeing Science: An Illustrated Guide to the Wonders of the Universe This isn’t your average science book. Seeing Science takes a quirky perspective into the natural world, exploring biology, geology, and physics with charming illustrations and smart, easy-to-grasp analogies. See what happens in an ocean when a whale dies. Understand the nitty gritty of glaciation with a Snickers bar. Figure out how mirrors work. A great gift for older kids who learn better with pictures.
  For the typography geek
The Visual History of Type Weighing in at nearly 7.5 pounds, this treasure chest of a book is packed with more than 300 typefaces. Presented chronologically, the typefaces are shown in their earliest forms and come with brief descriptions about their historical context.
For the designer obsessed with color
Color Wheel Pin This lapel pin “complements” everything. RGB and CMYK earrings are also available.
1,000 Colors Puzzle This 1,000-piece puzzle contains exactly 1,000 colors, each in a different color.
Color Library Color Library is the result of the nonprofit Color Library project that launched in 2014. With dozens of color combinations (including metallics and pastels), this book is sure to serve as both reference and inspiration.
  For the hero-worshipping designer
Design: Vignelli: Graphics, Packaging, Architecture, Interiors, Furniture, Products This 408-page volume is the definitive monograph on Massimo and Lella Vignelli. Showcasing the Vignelli’s iconic designs as well as rarely seen items, this book is a huge, bright orange delight to behold.

This delightful monograph contains never-before-seen pieces and several tipped-in items, as well as notes on Jeffers’ personal history.
  For the vintage nut
Art Deco notecards and envelopes With gorgeous patterns foil-stamped in gold on black, this lavish boxed set of 10 blank note cards (with elegant envelopes) adds Gatsby-esque posh to any occasion.
The Olivetti Pattern Series Pencil Set The newest addition to the Olivetti Pattern series, which includes an Olivetti patterned notebook and boxed notecard set, this set of 12 pencils keeps your desk looking sharp. Printed with patterns created by the Olivetti typewriter, these soft graphite pencils arrive in a stylish box.
  For the newspaper junkie

Each time when we are sailing for a long time with only the ocean surrounding us, I am surprised again how easy meditation is there. Limitless blue… the ocean and the sky, melting together as one at the horizon. I sink into a deep meditation spontaneously. No temptations from the outside world distracting the mind. But just silence and simple Being….

Centuries ago meditation already played an important role in most Eastern philosofies. It is seen as a strong tool in the achievement of selfrealisation. Being in silence and exploring the innermost depht inside yourself to realize more and more what or who we really are. Instead of keeping your mind wandering in the outside world, you bring your attention inwards. You simply wittness the chaos of thoughts and emotions whirling inside you and, by doing this regurlary, you will start to become aware of a constant and clear consciousness behind this all. That part which is always there, the Wittness. This is what we really Are!
This realisation brings us peace and happiness.

Here some other proven insights of meditation:
*  Meditation makes studying more effective
While studying, it has been proven that doing meditation as a way of relaxation, enhances the study results. While having a nap or watching TV don’t have this benefit.
* You will live longer
The telomeres, which are found at the ends of your chromosomes, are becoming stronger by meditation. Aging goes less quick and therefore you will live longer.
* Meditation brings peace
Back in the eighties there were some experiments done in the Middle East which proved that transcendental meditation (TM) diminished the amount of violence. A group of 700 practioners meditated in conflict zones like Libanon. The result was overwhelming. The amount of deaths went back from 12 to 3 victims a day during the time they meditated. That means 75% less than before. The effect was also felt in Israël and other surrounding countries.
* Meditation helps against crime
In Washington they had an experiment with 3000 people meditating. In this period crime went down with 23%.
* You stay calm
Already the old kings of India knew that daily meditation by monks in their palace, had a calming effect on the people of that area. Therefore monks were always very welcome!
* You become more focussed
By meditating you create more grey matter in your brain ( the outer cortex). This part of your brain is responsible for your memory, alertness and makes you more desicive.
* Meditation changes your brain
While scientists in earlier days were convinced that the brain doesn’t grow anymore as soon as you become an adult, now they have to accept that by continuous meditation people can change the function and structure of their brain. Fascinating documentaries about this are: ‘ What the bleep do we know’ and ‘Down the rabbit hole’.
* Meditation is a strong painkiller
Morfin can give you a painreduction of 25%, while meditation can reduce pain with 40 %. So you can see meditation as a potentially stronger painkiller than morfine! Plus the side effects of meditation are only positive: more self knowledge, inner peace, bliss and instead of changing into a zombie you become more alert and aware.
* Already short meditations are beneficial
You don’t need to practize meditation for years or long hours a day to feel the effect. Investigation proves that already 5 minutes a day of meditation and being in the now will improve, for example, your health. My spiritual teacher Sri Bhagavan tells us the same: ‘ If you can meditate for only 5 minutes a day it will already change your life completely.’
From my own experience however I know that as soon as meditation gets you, you just want to make time for it no matter what.

Also I like the idea that they are essentially a band of pirates that commandeered the Coelacanth (Among Us imposter type situation) OR still pirates but the Coelacanth was always theirs and the reason authorities can't find them is because they submerge to extreme depths

Airbnb Is Giving Away the Chance to Be First to See the Total Solar Eclipse

Airbnb Is Giving Away the Chance to Be First to See the Total Solar Eclipse
For those who haven’t yet booked a trip to see the total solar eclipse later this month, Airbnb has a contest you’re going to want to enter.
The short-term rental service is giving away one night in a transparent geodesic dome in Bend, Oregon, followed by a flight through the path of totality.
The lodging has an observation deck and telescopes to look up at the night stars. Two National Geographic Explorers — astrophysicist Dr. Jedidah Isler and science journalist Babak Tafreshi — will teach guests about what’s happening in the nighttime sky.

The following morning — August 21, the day of the eclipse — the contest winners will board a private flight to the path of totality. The two-hour flight will start out over the Pacific Ocean and follow the eclipse as it passes over land.
Chris Burkard Studio/Courtesy of Airbnb The flight will increase totality viewing — which will be about 1 minute and 58 seconds at the coast — by about one minute more than what’s possible on the ground.
Starting Tuesday, Airbnb users can enter the contest by answering a question with a creative and unique response. The entry period closes on Thursday, August 10 at midnight ET.

Those who don’t win still have options. For one, they can start making a plan right now to get into the path of totality on August 21. (Really, it’s worth it, we promise.)
RGB Ventures/SuperStock/Alamy And for those who can’t get into the path that day, there will be a livestream from Airbnb and National Geographic of the eclipse as it enters totality, and from NASA, which is doing an “Eclipse Megacast.”
Also, those who are staying home can figure out how much of the eclipse will be visible from their city with several online tools. Everywhere in the U.S. will see at least a partial eclipse.
