Recirculating this bc I will never stop loving Clyde Logan

Okay hear me out; Reylo/Logan Lucky mashup, something along the lines of -

Jimmy meets Rey, who’s the new mechanic at the local shop he takes his truck to when he just doesn’t have time to work on it himself

They get to talking and he ends up introducing her to Mellie

Cue 20+ chapters of Rey and Mellie being bffs over their shared love of fast cars

Mellie coming up with crazier and crazier hairstyles to try out on Rey

The two of them punking the shit out of uppity men who think girls shouldn’t be allowed to drive stick

‘Oh yeah, have you met my brother Clyde’

Clyde’s definitely going to be a little starstruck

After all he’s been hearing stories about this fantastic girl and all the trouble she’s been getting into with his sister from just about everybody who stops in at the bar

Rey’s obviously going to love him, this big soft man who can’t help but push free food at her every time she comes to the bar

He never says much but she feels like they’re friends at least

After the first time she breaks some punks nose for being a shit about Clyde’s arm he’s ready to marry her on the spot

Nobody but his siblings have ever really stood up for him like that

Rey has no idea how much it meant to him, after all, she was just doing what anybody would have done right??

One day while she’s working she overhears some of the locals talking about 'those big dumb Logan boys’ and she realizes that not everybody sees the Logan’s for what they are

Just because they talk slow and think about things a little different than most, somehow that must mean they’re not quite right in the head, not as civilized as the regular folks

That pisses her off big time

The Logan siblings have pretty much adopted her at this point

She didn’t know anybody when she moved to town, she was just trying to get away from her foster father/major creepo Plutt

Meanwhile Mellie’s decided she’s going to help fix Rey up with her brother

She mentions it to Clyde a couple of times, just to feel him out

Somehow he gets mixed up and thinks she’s talking about setting Rey up with Jimmy

That absolutely guts him, but he figures it makes sense

Rey does spend more time talking to Jimmy than him anyway

Nothing Mellie tries seems to be working

She’s not sure whether they’re both just that dense, or if Rey really isn’t interested in Clyde

Rey IS interested in Clyde, but he isn’t really giving her any encouragement

He thinks she’s just being nice because she feels bad for him

It hurts him too much to think about her with his brother so he starts shutting them both out

Jimmy has no idea what the hell’s going on and he’s been so busy with going back and forth to see his daughter that he hasn’t had time to sit down and talk

But after all, Mellie would tell him if anything was really wrong, right?

One day Rey ends up getting hurt and taken to the hospital

Jimmy’s out of town and Mellie’s not picking up her phone so eventually Clyde ends up getting the call and immediately rushes to her side

Rey’s embarrassed, it was a stupid mistake, she should have known better, its just her arm that’s broken there was no need to call anybody, she can look after herself

Clyde cuts her off saying 'just let me take care of you sweetheart’

She’s speechless, nobody’s ever really done that for her, and the fact that he would offer it so easily just floors her

They’re both trapped wanting to be together so badly and thinking its ridiculous that the other would ever feel the same

Okie imma go to bed now before I make myself cry from the combination of severe feels and sleep deprivation but I feel better now I’ve got that off my chest. 😘

Rey is not used to backing down. She also isn't used to the way her body reacts whenever Kylo gets too close. With two top dogs, who is going to be the one coming out on top?

Rey was one thesis away from earning her Master’s in Cultural Anthropology. She’d traveled the world and experienced every culture one could possibly think of. She’d witnessed atrocities. She’d witnessed the purest acts of humanity. Even at such a young age, she couldn’t imagine what more there was for her to experience… that was until Professor Solo sent her to write an ethnography in Boone County, West Virginia.

Clyde left the United States Army as a broken man, physically and mentally. The transition back to civilian life was excruciating. Some days, the only thing that kept him goin’ was the memory of the mysterious, fiery girl he met in amongst the sands of Iraq. He never believed he would see his girl again… that was until she walked right into his bar.

“You can lie to yourself but don’t lie to me.”

Rey hurls herself into the thrust with every ounce of fury and pain that she has, and Kylo snarls at her.  

They have always been evenly matched.  He has never bested her, but then again, she wonders if he hadn’t been holding back in the snow on Starkiller Base.  You need a teacher, he had snarled at her over their locked blades.  I can show you the ways of the Force, as she had grappled with using a one-sided weapon for the first time in her life, wishing she had the facility with it that she had with her staff.

Kylo fights ferociously, and Rey thinks he is letting his anger win.

He always does that, after all--let his anger win.  It bests him every time.

“This isn’t what you want,” she tells him as she ducks one of his slashes and rams him--hard--with the elongated butt of her lightsaber.  The blow winds him and he doubles back, his fiery blade extended defensively towards her as he catches his breath.

“You’re right!” he snarls.  

Anger and pain are twins in his words, just enough to distract Rey as he lunges forward again, slicing at her with a back-hand cut that she only barely manages to block with the lightsaber end of the staff.  She catches the back of his leg with the staff end as he passes her and he stumbles again.  He may be the better of the two with a lightsaber, but Rey has always been a fighter, and it is clear that he’s never fought against someone who learned young that you take every chance you get with both ends of your weapon.

“It doesn’t have to be this way, Ben,” she says to him as he twists into yet another defensive position.  How many times must she say it for him to hear?  How many?  “You can still--”

“Come home?” he jeers.  “Your little traitor friend can defect without consequence.  The Supreme Leader can’t.  Do you really think I’d be granted diplomatic immunity.”

“There is light in you,” she snaps at him.  “I know it.  I’ve seen it.  You--”

“Are deluding yourself!” he shouts back.  “It’s what you do, Rey.  Over and over and over again, and you never learn!  No matter how much you want someone to be something--that doesn’t mean they are.  I can’t come back to the light, no more than your parents can come back from the dead.  That past is dead.  That future can’t exist.”

“Is this really what you want?” she retorts.  She refuses to acknowledge the sting about her parents, refuses to let him have that one little victory.  He had known before she had, but it would always be an easier battle to confront her past than to confront his own.  “For that future not to exist?”

“It can’t!” he all but screams.  

“It can!” she all but screams right back.  “You killed Snoke!  You did that!  That’s as much a part of your future as anything else!  That was you, Ben.”

Once, when she’d said his name, he’d gone still, calm, quiet in an elevator that was taking them both to their deaths.  He goes still again now, but the look in his eyes is empty.  

“Ben Solo’s past is dead,” he tells her.  “I killed it.”

“You can lie to yourself but don’t lie to me,” she spits at him and his eyes widen in shock.  Because there it is.  “If I delude myself, so do you.  You’re still holding on to all your anger.  All your hate.  You haven’t let it go at all.  You can’t.  It’s time to let go, Ben.  That’s the only way you can become who you were meant to be.”

She sidled up to the bar and perched herself on a stool. Clyde strode over and damn, Rey had not seen him up close before. When she was following him at a distance, all she could tell was that he was tall and well-defined. Up close, though? God, he was striking. His hair looked baby soft, and his skin was dotted with beauty marks. And his eyes - they were this fascinating shade of honey brown with endless depth to them. She forgot for a second why she was there until he said, “What’ll ya have?”

She shook her head swiftly and smiled sweetly at him. She had a part to play after all. “Vodka cranberry, please.”

“Haven’t seen you around before - new in town or just passin’ through?”

“Ah, it’s a bit of a vacation, so I’ll be here for at least a week.”

He smiled, and she was instantly charmed. “At least?”

“We’ll see how things go.” She couldn’t resist winking at him as he placed her drink in front of her. Rey wasn’t normally a big flirt, but acting was part of the job. That’s what she told herself, but for some reason she found it easy to flirt with Clyde.

Or, Rey is an FBI agent sent to investigate Clyde Logan. What she doesn’t expect is to fall for him, hard.
