Rey goes to Luke on Ach-to. She hands him his lightsaber, his father’s lightsaber, unaware that she’s looking at her Uncle, holding something her Grandfather crafted when he was her age.

Luke takes it. He remembers his hand being cut off, and his father’s robotic voice telling him…. Luke wants to throw the lightsaber. He wants to clutch it tighter. He looks at the girl who gave it to him, a sunlight girl through a tinted window.

“Who are you?”

“No one.” Rey says. She believes it. “Just someone who needs your help.”

Luke blames himself for the death of his niece, his students, his fellow teachers, and the Fall of his nephew. He doesn’t want to return, and face his mistakes. Old age has made him a coward.

But he is still Luke Skywalker. He places his father’s lightsaber back in Rey’s hand, curling her finger over the hilt. He won’t leave, but he will teach.

Luke teaches her about the Force, and about Kylo Ren- about Ben.

“He’s deeper in the Dark side than Vader was, yet he’s not a Sith,” Luke tells her, three days into her stay on the unfindable planet. “My father couldn’t kill me, and that’s what help brought him back to the Light. Ben loved his sister more than anything, and he killed her so brutally that we couldn’t find her body.”

Rey listens, and learns, and trusts, but- she doesn’t believe that. She doesn’t know why.

(Meanwhile, General Leia Organa is running the Resistance, and helping Finn. He has the Force, but he’s more comfortable with a blaster than a saber. Leia understands that. There is no Resistance falling apart, and no tracking device.)

Rey is on Ach-to for a week. She leaves on day eight, and Luke comes with her.

When they get to the Resistance base, the First Order is there. There is no tracking device, but there with always be betrayal in the world, always someone selling someone else out.

Luke fights Kylo. Kylo cuts the hilt of his Uncle’s lightsaber, and prepares to cut off his head, when Rey stops him, Anakin and Luke’s blue saber connecting with Kylo’s red.

“I won’t let you.” She says, before charging.

“He doesn’t know you!” Kylo yells over the crackling of their lightsabers. “Han didn’t know you, Leia didn’t know you! I know you!”

“You don’t know me! You don’t know anything, besides being a monster!”

“I know who you are. Breha.”

And here Rey stumbles. She doesn’t remember but she knows.

“Ben.”

“No,” Luke breathes, aghast.

She knows. The simple word- her name- has unlocked something, Kylo’s words opening memories with the Force. She knows her parents. She knows her uncles.

She knows her brother.

“Forget them.” Kylo says, lowering his lightsaber. “They have done nothing for you. They stopped caring for you, they didn’t want you, they didn’t look for you.” He grabs his sister by the wrist, forcing her to lower her own lightsaber. “I kept you safe, Breha. I protected you. Help me defeat Snoke, and we can rule the galaxy.”

“No,” Rey can’t see, tears in her eyes. But she knows better than to waste water. She blinks them away. “You took me, and left me. You killed Han. You killed our father.”

“He doesn’t matter. Help me, Breha.”

“Come back home, Ben. We can go come back home.”

“It’s too late for me, Breha. You know this.”

“You saved save me, let me save you.”

“I don’t need saving, Breha.”

“My name is Rey.”

This is not the condemnation Ben takes it as. She means it as the name he made her get when he left her. He takes it as a rejection, as his sister denying him as her home. He gets angry.

“Then you’re against me, Rey.”

Still gripping her wrist, Kylo swings his lightsaber at his little sister.

Rey brings her lightsaber up in one swift motion, cutting the hand that’s gripping her wrist. It falls to the ground, and Kylo screams.

Finn and Poe come, and help evacuate Luke and Rey with the rest of the Resistance.

The first thing Leia does when she sees Luke and Rey, is hug her brother. Luke kisses her forehead, and apologizes.

“You’re here now, that’s what matters.” Leia cups her brother’s face. Even though they’re twins, and Obi-wan refuses to tell them who was born first, Luke will always be her younger brother.

“No.” Luke shakes his head. “That’s not what I’m apologizing for.” He escapes his sister’s embrace, and instead holds Rey shoulder. Rey looks at Leia-her mother- with wide eyes.

“Rey?” Leia asks, touching her arm gently. “What’s wrong?”

Luke and Rey look at each other, each asking if the other would like to tell her what they just learned.

“I fought Kylo Ren. And he told me my name. I think I always knew it. I just…didn’t know I knew. Something was stopping me. He was stopping me, until he needed me.”

She hasn’t said it, but Leia knows. Of course, of course.

“Breha.”

“Mom.”

Mother and daughter hug for the first time in 12 years, fully knowing who the other is.

Kylo Ren is taken back to the First Order, and fitted with a prosthetic hand. Breha may have forsaken him, but he knows what the Dark Side of the Force is telling him. His sister is his; only he can care, protect, and train her. Her time has come.

Kylo kills Snoke, and takes his throne.

Star-crossed lovers ✨ Decided to do one last reylo art for the last day of 2023, Happy New Year!

If you look in my head you’d see the phrase ‘Star Wars Sequel but Rey and Ben are siblings’ surrounded by hearts.

Ben Organa-Solo turns into Kylo Ren, and just like years later, when he hesitates to kill his father, he hesitates to kill his sister; this time, however, he hasn’t been intrenched in the darkside for a decade. He doesn’t kill his sister, and instead takes her, and hides her.

Breha Organa-Solo is seven years old when her 19 hear old brother steals their father’s ship, and drops her off on the planet Jakku. “I’ll come back for you.” He says. “But for now, forget.”

Kylo Ren has a plan. He’ll be powerful, more powerful than his Master, and one day he’ll kill him, and Breha will be his apprentice. Brother and Sister, ruling.

In the meantime, Breha will be hidden, safe, and forgotten.

He leaves the Falcon, and his sister, and takes a small ship. He never returns.

Breha Organa-Solo forgets the name and face of her mother, her father, her uncles, and her brother. She forgets her own name. When asked, she answered, “Br-breh?” Hesitance and fear in her voice. They call her Rey.

Leia and Han Organa-Solo think their son killed their daughter. Ben is a wound they won’t talk about, and Breha is a wound they can’t.

Rey spends 12 years on Jakku. When she sees her father for the first time in over a decade, she doesn’t recognize him, even if she feels like she knows him.

Han looks at her, and sees his daughter. He ignores that feeling. Every strong willed brunette girl his daughter’s age wears the face of her. He ignores the feeling. His daughter is dead.

Unfortunately, the rest stays the same.

Kylo Ren takes Rey. He probes her mind for true map, and instead finds his sister, right before she turns the rest on him.

Han, Chewbacca and Finn go to save her. Han cups his son’s face as he’s killed.

Leia Organa didn’t know her brother when she met him, though she always felt a connection. Leia Organa-Solo didn’t know her daughter when she saw her, although hugging her felt like the most natural thing in the world.

Maybe…. Leia thought, before shutting the thought down. Her daughter is dead. She hasn’t felt her Force Signature since the night Ben turned. Rey’s Force Signature is strong, but muddled. Like looking at sunlight through a tinted window.

None of them know her connection when she leaves to find Luke. Not yet, at least.
