Ongoing Series - Thai

City of Stars (Fri iQIYI) ep 11 of 12 - Like most Thai BL pulps, this show doesn’t have much story to it. But I'm discovering that what it does have I actually really enjoy. I love that the gay boys got to play matchmaker for a change and I like how just GAY they are. It's nice. Refreshing.

We Are (Weds GMMTV iQIYI) ep 1-2 of 16 - University ensemble BL featuring PondPhuwin, WinnySatang, AouBoom, MarcPawinPoon. I like it. It’s old school Thai BL, but having fun with itself and its tropes. I’m not expecting much, so I don’t mind it waffling. All the couples are comfy. Chemistry is okay. Friendships are nifty. I like Pond's floppy hair. We fine. 

Two Worlds (Thurs IQIYI) ep 5 of 10 - What an extremely bloody episode. And bad guy turned out to be very bad indeed. And now pretty much everyone is dead. Nice kiss. Of course. 

Deep Night (Thurs iQiyi) ep 6 of 8 - It’s cute, they happy, not a ton happened. Random gratuitous bathing. As you do in BL. And I still think the sides should just end up in a thrupple

Only Boo! (Sun YouTube) ep 2 of 12 - Oh they very cute. Also very silly. 

1000 Years Old (Thurs iQIYI) ep 9 of 12 - No. NOT THE GUITAR. YES abandon guitar for the sniff test! Love this for them. And me. My most favorite trope defeated my least favorite trope. VICTORY!!!  

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Unknown (Taiwan Tues YouTube & Viki) ep 8 of 11 - It’s just so good. Baby went away, grew up, and learned how to become a temptation... and a husband. 

Gray Shelter AKA Gray Currents (Korea Thurs iQIYI) 1 of 5 eps - SooHyuk, only just surviving, reunites with YoonDae, his (brief) younger stepbrother who feels abandoned. They end up living together. The younger brother is played by Lee Jae Bin of Choco Milk Shake. OMG. STEPBROTHERS TROPE. Lucky me! Two in one season. Yay!!!! It's Korea so great visuals too. I shallow but yeah, this is great.

Living With Him AKA Kare no Iru Seikatsu (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 1 of 10 - Kindly Ryota goes off to uni only to find his new roommate is his childhood bestie, Kazuhito. Kazuhito doesn’t have a girlfriend and Ryota tries to help him figure out why. Same director as Old Fashion Cupcake. It’s utterly charming. I am charmed. Also the framing is gorgeous (of course). Very stylish.

Love is Better the Second Time Around AKA Koi wo Suru nara Nidome ga Joto (Japan Weds Gaga) ep 6fin - I don’t know. Kind of a flat ending with the leads apart for most of it. I enjoyed this show but it never really hit with me. 

Summation

After a teen betrayal and resulting separation a reporter reunites with his first love. That love wants him back. I enjoyed the authenticity of a reunion romance explored in Japan's quintessentially contemplative yet surreal way. The juxtaposition of the tenderness of the sex scenes with this Japanese style of authenticity was oddly elegant but all in all this still fell a little flat for me. There's nothing objectively wrong with it, but in total the narrative felt sluggish and the main couple were just... stiff (in the wrong way). Frankly, I'd rather just rewatch Tokyo in April is. 8/10

Love is like a Cat (Korea Mon Viki) eps 3-4 of 12 - What is going on with this show? No, I get the plot. I just don't get the show or why I’m watching it. Annoying.

To Be Continued (Sat C3 Thailand grey) ep 7-8fin - I can't for the life of me find the final 2 episodes. Haven't had a real hunt, but yeah. No dice so far.

Takumi-kun Series 6: Nagai Nagai Monogatari (Japan Furritsubs) eps 1-? of 10 - I may wait and binge it.

Lady Boy Friends (Thai WeTV grey) 16 eps - reminds me a bit too much of Diary of Tootsies only high school. Not my thing. DNF unless it turns a corner and is truly amazing.

Kiseki Chapter 2 (Sun iQIYI) 6 eps - It’s so boring DNFed at 2.

Close Friend Season 3: Soju Bomb! (Weds iQIYI) 6 - The problem with situational comedy BL is it must be situational, comedic and a BL. This show gets 1 of 3 claims correct. 33% is not a passing grade. Dropped at 3.

Memory in the Letter (Thai WeTV) - only 4 eps, tell me if I should bother?

4/18 At 25:00 in Alaska AKA 25 Ji Akasaka de (Japan Thurs Gaga) 10 eps - Yuki lands his first starring role in a BL drama alongside superstar Asami (previously his senior at uni). Said superstar suggests they form a sham relationship until filming concludes. As they actually begin to fall in love, the spotlight begins to burn. I think I've seen this before (joke) and also the trailer doesn't inspire confidence.

4/25 Boys Be Brave! AKA Roommates (Korea Thurs Viki) 8 eps - Trailer Jung Ki Sub is Kim Jin Woo's slacker friend - and secret crush. So when Ki Sub crashes at his place, his heart tingles to be near him everyday. But as the short stay turns into permanent mooch, how long can Jin Woo keep his true feelings under wraps and hold back from confessing?

4/26 My Stand-In (Thai iQIYI) 12 eps - adaptation of Chinese novel "Professional Body Double" by Shui Qiang Cheng. Stars Up (Lovely Writer) and Poom (Bake Me Please) directed by the same team as KP (not a recommendation IMHO - my biggest criticism of that show was the clashing directing styles). This one looks complicated, lemme try: Joe is a stuntman for famous actor Tong. Joe falls in love with Ming but Ming sees Joe as nothing more than a Tong-replacement. After learning this horrible truth, Joe dies. Joe then wakes up in the body of another man also named Joe. He manages to rebuild the same life as before—with the same people eventually re-meeting Ming. Ming wants Joe back but Joe doesn't understand why. But Ming seems to know what's going on and wants to give him some kind of explanation.

I'm exhausted just trying to describe the plot.

Knock-Knock Boys (Thai WeTV) - 4 college friends conspire to help their friend lose his virginity. Familiar faces like Seng (yes, Billy's previous pairing) and Best, news here. But will it actually air this month?

First post woo! And it’s gonna be a headcanon I don’t see often here-

The lack of sir Topham hatt being a father figure to the engines content destroys me. Like every episode I watch there’s some fatherly essence he gives to them (even to James or Thomas) and looking for content THERES 0 TO NONE😭😭

Like one episode that comes to mind is pouty James

Omg that episode was so freakin funny; Topham is essentially dealing with a moody teenager (james) and he’s relatively handling james outburst and sulking well like a parent (grounding him to the sheds) and honestly that’s so adorable?? James feels comfortable enough to back talk him a bit ?? Like sir doesn’t humiliate him or anything but says what he expects the engines to act like while they are on the job. It’s so stinkin cute, why does no one talk about that??

Or Sodor and the lost treasure (just watched that yesterday) and I know sir yelled a lot at Thomas even though it wasn’t mostly his fault but saying his engines meant more than treasure and meant that truthfully was just 🥹🥹🥹

I’m still a new fan to the CGI and I’m rewatching the whole series again; so I need to keep watching and hopefully find more content. I’m just surprised the lack there of in the fandom 😭 oh well I’ll just write fanfic about it lol but AHH ITS JUST SO CUTE FATHERLY HATT!!!

My review about One Piece Live Action (OPLA)

Okaaay, you probably knew that I was one of old Nakama, since I've been following one piece for around 20 years (since elementary school haha)

And honestly when I saw the first plan about OPLA from Netflix.. I have a very great cynicism..because you know how baaaaad most of Hollywood anime adaptation were. The good anime adaptation which I think best was Gintama n Kenshin live action, but that's has major Japanese casts and in Japanese languange. But One Piece gonna have diverse casts..how scary. I really put my expectation bar..really...really low back at the time.

But then I saw the list of the casts and honestly, when I saw Inaki Godoy as Luffy for the first time, I kinda unsure and was like "hmm..let see his IG profile first", and I saw him somehow being naturally cheerful and goofy just like Luffy. And I saw his still from one of mexican drama where he looks really cool and badass. I was like " maybe this kid can be Luffy", my expectation kinda growing.

The cast for SH crew looks promising after I saw their profile..except from Taz because back then he has no IG yet. Very2 limited info from him. But after some times, I can see how he & the other cast really2 love the characters they are playing and worked hard for it. They were working with heart and it's shown..

Oda- sensei gives his thought about the adaptation too..and apparently he was the one who want the OPLA to be happened, tho he will be really strict about it. And I honestly I was starting to believe (I mean if the creator already said so), but great doubt still lingered in my heart.

Some months pass..finally the first picture of the cast with full outfits appeared, the first teaser during One Piece day..my expectation started to grew again. I got really hype tho people around me still really sceptical.

More info about how Oda approved Inaki as Luffy because his audition tape made Oda laughed. How Inaki got a strawhat from Luffy's seiyuu,Mayumi Tanaka, and all original anime seiyuu gonna voiced the chara in the live action too. He got a warm support from Shueisha and even met Oda himself and got a STRAWHAT from Goda? Well I started to BELIEVE!! I mean..this OPLA got support from the original source material!! How very awesome! I want this to succeed!

As a long time fans I got a secondhand nervousness.. I really want this live action to be successful. I already saw how the casts chemistry works really well during the interview etc..I want it to succeed!! I even shared a lot of the promotional media to my IG story which was rarely happened from me..hahaha

and after a bit more wait, the series released Yesterday at 31 August 2023. It's during weekday, on Thursday and the Netflix premiere in indonesia was at 14.00 wib. I applied for leave just to watched this Live action yesterday. How was it?? WORTH IT!!

I am so glad I love One Piece and so happy that my favorite manga got a very well made live action.

Here're some of my faves things & moments:

- Many different approach in telling the story, so it felt fresh!! Because the main point were still conveyed but the location differ and some interaction between characters got adapted to catter the limited episodes (only 8 eps)

- many interesting new interaction!! Luffy and Nami interaction, zoro & nami, zoro & sanji etc..haha loves when SH crew appears

- I got teary eyes during flashback moments (Shanks gave his hat, Zeff advice to little Sanji, Bellemere moments 🥲🥹)

- Zoro very very cool and awesome..and honestly trying to rewatch with JP dub really made him even more WHOLESOME..omg

- when Sanji called Zoro mosshead

- when Ussop and Kaya kissed..hahaha (so there will be romance?)

- when Nami only hugged Zoro and Usopp & Sanji only saw from the sidewalk..

- love Nami theme song because it's pretty and sung by Aurora!

- loves the hidden easter egg: binks sake song, anime ost instrumental, mentioned Jaya, and story of Mobran Noland (even the story book!) Etc

- Garp denden mushi looks cute somewhow haha

- how Buggy looks super creepy like Joker hahaha but I love it! It's super interesting

- Helmeppo really annoying just like in the comic, Koby looks very similar with the comic counterpart too!!

- I love how the story combines SH POV with Koby as marine POV (which should be after vol 45), but it makes the introduction of the world more seamless and easier for the new fans ro enjoy

- JP Dub really a whole other experience!!! You must watch it at least twice I think! Hahaha original voice and JP dub!!

What I don't really like or can be improved:

- need more episodes, 8 was too short and made the story telling too packed.

-This also impacted the timing of the screen which supposed to build up the impactful scenes: like when Gold Roger dies,Zoro almost died from hunger, Shanks arm got eaten, Sanji's thankfulness to Zeff, Luffy's promise to helps Nami and when he yelled that Nami is his Nakama from Arlong park ruins.... it's not really highlighted. Kinda felt like just another ordinary scenes 🥹🥲😭

- somehow Luffy fight not really as dynamic as Zoro, so I kinda feel sad..but in east blue saga he still kinda weak(?) So maybe that's okay

- No Hachi in arlong park, no battle with Krieg...No usopp's little kids crew and somehow Merry died (I know he's more like NPC but it still sad because Kaya alone now)

- a bit more gory with blood etc

- Garp characterization...somehow a bit confusing. He seems a lot stricter than in the manga, and rarely laughing too.. which is okay. But why he really want to captured Luffy is still not understandable for me...? In vol 45 he just want to Meet Luffy as his Grandpa, but not sure in OPLA, is he still want to makes Luffy a marine? (Maybe I need to rewatch it). He contacted the Shichibukai to captured Luffy a bit stretched too..since Garp division in manga should be the part of marine who didn't believe in Shichibukai as 'protector of the sea'.

- how Genzou not have importance to the plot as Nami's and Nijiko's father... He should be the reason for the pinwheel, but in OPLA Bellemere the one who made it.

- Bellemere's name in the EN subtitles only written as Woman.. during Nami episode her name never mentioned and only written in her graveyard (saaaad)

- Sanji needs more screentime!! Huhuhu he just started join the crew in EP 7 and the episodes already finished at 8...saaad. I need more of him too 😭

- the SH crew interaction very limited because of the packed pacing and short number of episodes. I wish they can be explored more. It's funny because the screentime got divided into coby, helmeppo and garp interaction too. They really felt like another main characters.

- how Luffy recruitted the crew also not really highlighted, thus it's a bit weird on why suddenly Zoro want to follow him as his crew. it's kinda felt random..

-Luffy a lot more...wise and mature? I wish he looks more goofy like how Inaki in his IG stories. And because not many interaction with usopp yet..his childish part seems not really explored?

Maybe that's that for now.. but TLDR. It's a fun & fresh live action and I recommend you to watched it and be a new Nakama!

For me OPLA season 1 score was: 8.5/10

Ps. Above was the objective score from me because I kinda particular.. but subjective score with EN dub was 10/10, for JP dub is 11/10 because I love how fun and fresh it is!! (I still rewatching it for the JP dub hahaha)

First ship ever: I'm generally a person who rarely cared about romance... or that used to be the case until the phenomenon that was VegasPete came into my life and slapped me in the face. However, I do have a ship that had an almost similar effect on me before VP and that is Chihaya x Taichi from Chihayafuru. They were everything to me, I loved that ship to death. Now, I'm more indifferent towards it, but it holds a special place in my heart.

Last song you heard: Enigmatic Feeling by Ling Tosite Sigure (I keep craving a Psycho Pass rewatch lately but I haven't convinced myself to press play yet - only the first season obviously, the rest can go rot)

Favorite childhood book: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I loved this book so much. My mum had bought me a children's version when I was a kid and I adored it. My little brother destroyed it though. I want to read it again as an adult one day.

Currently reading: Oh dear. I've started like 5 different books lately, on top of another 6+ ones I already had and haven't finished yet. My reading slump is still going strong, though I have managed to finish 3 books so far this year, which is 1 book more than last year. Isn't that depressing? But if I were to be specific, the book I'm currently reading is The Future of Geography by Tim Marshall (it was chosen by my colleagues at work for our bookclub which I created, I wouldn't have touched this book with a ten-foot pole otherwise)

Currently watching: Oh dear. Again. I keep starting shows which I never finish, I think my attention span is getting shorter lately. But, since I did watch episodes of it as recently as yesterday, I'll answer Manner of Death. I'm literally half-way through and I *adore* Bun, he's such a cute, naive, little baby man who needs to be pampered and protected at all costs. If Tan breaks his heart, I will riot.

I did not expect to have to think about it so much. I just didn't know how to answer it, not in a "I don't know how to express my opinion" , but more like "I'm not sure what my opinion is". I'm working on it though.

Anyway Deku vs 1A:

I'm going to assume you mean both the actual fight and the before and after stuff.

warning: some salt about denim man and heroes in general because I can't help myself! - minor spoilers for Avatar the Last Airbender - nitpicking about superhero tropes

The before stuff:

First of all I love how the entire class barged in Nezu's office to force Endeavor to talk to them. The way the top heroes were operating using Izuku as bait was extremely stupid and didn't help at all in the end since Izuku just run off on his own and honestly did more work than any of them.

look at them, they're serious, they won't take no for an answer 😎

I like that they have like a class meeting about this and make a decision and they they go all together to present their demands to the administration.

Not much else to talk about here, I just think showing how they made the decision was cool and it reminded me of the meetings we have at uni. (though they didn't vote for the decision in this but it was clear they all agreed so it still counts)

The fight:

I think the actual fight and what the class told Midoriya was great. The voice acting and music were as always top tier.

I prefer the manga fight over the anime. Probably mostly because the subs I watched were a bit confusing so I couldn't keep up and get as emotionally invested because I was focusing too much on trying to read.

The animation was ok. I like the atmosphere with the rain (AND THE GREY SKY OMG I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE BONES LEARNT THAT WEATHER EXISTS!!) The fight was animated amazingly of course.

But there's some parts before and after that felt like they were missing dynamic movement. I'm guessing a lot of it has to with the time they had to do this and most of the focus going on the fight. Animators are extremely overworked and underpaid so I'm not going to hate on them for this. I'm guessing they might add stuff or make corrections for all episodes when the bluray comes out.

Also the fact that they shout their moves took me out a bit, which really is just a personal nitpick I have about the entire anime in general. In the manga you can say it's just a narrative tool so the readers can recognise each move more easily. And it works well. I'm currently also rewatching the third movie and I recognised Shouto doing hell spider without him saying anything. I think it's a bit too silly for characters to announce their moves out loud mid fight. It ruins the tension for me and also it's kind of stupid in the same way as shouting "SNEAK ATTACK!" before attacking is.

I think it's cooler when they don't say it and it's just a neat little detail for fans who recognise them. (also no this gif isn't the atla spoilers! 😂)

Bakugou's apology had me bawling in both manga and anime and Uraraka's speech was just amazing. The new episode with the bath scene was also a bit confusing but again I think that's a problem with the sub I'm watching. I'll go read that in the manga later. (these are all parts I hadn't read before so maybe that also played part in the confusion)

Overall I love how this part of the story shows the bond class 1A has and also how great they work as a team. I just love them they're my children 😭💖😭💖😭!!

The aftermath:

I dislike how Nezu and the top heroes talk about Midoriya like he's an object. Jeanist especially talks about him in an extremely dehumanising way imo.

I have kind of said this before about different parts of the story, but I feel like the child soldier stuff is never really properly addressed. From what I understand Horikoshi probably doesn't consider the way UA operates as a child soldier program, but he probably considers what Hawks went through a child soldier program.

I think both are terrible, and UA is just the lesser of two evils.

Now I understand that this is a shonen and the kids are going to be the ones in the middle of the plot. This was handled perfectly fine in earlier arcs with the kids making the decision on their own and then being reprimanded by the adults for putting themselves in danger needlessly, or being forced to defend themselves against villains.

However this seems to have stopped happening after the kids got their hero licences. Now the kids are being sent to the front lines of the war and suddenly everyone's ok with that. Which unfortunately accidentally implies that the pros and teachers were only actually worried about paying the consequences if a child under their supervision got hurt.

I'd personally prefer the adults we're supposed to consider good role models didn't treat their trainees they supposedly care a lot about like weapons and send them to fight a war without informing them on why they're there!!

In ATLA during the invasion the kids and adults fight along side each other. Is it still fucked up that the kids in ATLA had to fight in a war? Yes. But the adults in ATLA (the ones we're supposed to root for) prioritise the kid's safety. Parents leave their kids behind to go fight in the war, they don't send their kids to the front lines. When the kids fight it's because they organised the attack, they chose to do this and they fight together with the adults as equals. There's no one being kept in the dark, they all know why they're there. And when the situation becomes hopeless the adults make sure the kids escape and they are the ones staying behind. This isn't really a direct scene comparison, but I don't think it's outlandish to assume that none of the good adults in ATLA would ever try to use Aang as bait or a weapon. Anyone that tries to is presented as bad for doing this.

Unless of course this issue gets addressed and they all lose their jobs because they're honestly terrible at them! But considering the way Horikoshi portrays them I doubt something like that would ever happen.

The reason I brought all this up is because I wanted to bask in how much better Uraraka's "Izuku is just a normal person like all the rest of us"👌😭😭speech is compared to bastard Jeanist's "let our weapon recharge here so we can use him again later"🤮!!

I think Uraraka and Bakugou are the true highlights of this whole thing. They were amazing. After them I think it's Iida and then the rest of the class. But I will point out Jirou and Mina specifically because the both really got me emotionally and I didn't expect it.

the flashbacks the other characters had I expected. Iida with the Stain fight, the sports festival flashback with Ojiro, even with Tsuyu it wasn't a surprise. But I didn't expect the callback to Midoriya helping Jirou with her notes. Because as she stated it was something that seemed so small and insignificant. Why would anyone ever have a flashback about that?

Anyway emotions AAAAAAAAAA!!

But the way the scene is recontextualised really shows that it's the small things in life that people will remember.

Edit: I forgot Mina because I was too busy being emotional about Jirou! Yeah... um.. death is sad and Mina made me tear up when she said she doesn't want to lose anyone again

my interest has kinda faded with croc too as he hasnt shown up as much…but i know he comes back and when he DOES show up im always so pleasantly surprised i gotta list him. OKAY. SO. TWO VERY POWERFUL SCENES: i watched both nami’s “help me” at arlong park and robin’s “i want to live” at enies lobby in both sub and dub just now…and for those two in particular. damn theyre actually ALL GOOD?? LIKE ALL REALLY WELL DONE?? although. my favorite dub moment by far. is robin’s “i want to live” in dub. her english voice is my fav compared to the sub by far. if you havent heard it i HIGHLY recommend you check it out like please. for me. literally gives me chills every. time.

tbh that is one of my only major issues with the live action. i actually prefer live action luffy (DONT KILL ME. ITS ONLY BY A LITTLE BIT. INAKI IS JUST SO WONDERFUL AND ITS A COOL ALTERNATE TAKE TO HIS CHARACTER. HE’S..NICER. MORE KIND? BUT NOT IN A WAY THAT I FEEL ERASES MANGA/ANIME LUFFY) tbh the live action tweaked each character a bit. nami is more serious and grumpy, zoro is WAY TOO EDGY?? (zoro is the one i was least happy with) and isnt boisterous nor does he laugh enough (esp for early/pre ts zoro) he does great with the action scenes though. usopp is the closest but he feels more like. suave about his lying whether than nervous? i dont mind it tho. jacob is great. taz is a good sanji but melontee once called him “chad british sanji” and now i cant get tht terrible phrase out of my head KJDNFKVN it really is a fun ride tho!!

im literally planning to write a fic where sanji goes back to kamabakka with the strawhats and gets forced into doing Kamabakka Island Things (read: gay shit) by Iva even tho he’s embarrassed bc his crew his there. rewriting kamabakka to be better is my favorite past time

Yeah, my time at the beach was v nice! We arrived back home yesterday afternoon. We didn't do much but that's actually what I wanted hahahah I was just so tired.

Ohh yes my mom bakes a lot of stuff! It's mostly for orders and we are forbidden from eating anything tho, but she does also bake for us occasionally ^^ I would be lying if I said she wasn't partially responsible for my sweet tooth...

Oh the cleaning, what a struggle LMAO it does indeed suck when you prepare a rather small thing but it leaves a lot of dirty dishes behind 😔 experimenting is really fun indeed!! I guess a meal I tend to "cook" often are different kinds of salads made with whatever is on the fridge, as they're so easy to make! I also like frying eggs and eating them with leftover rice if there's any. Grilled cheese sandwiches are also a classic. Maybe this is cheating bc nothing is actually made out of scratch, but oh well :p

I tend to like stuff with strong flavors so I think I may like duck! I don't remember the last time I ate lamb but I do remember liking it. The food fair was really fun indeed 💕 had a great time even if the weather was terrible that day. Oh I forgot about smoothies, I really like them too! Same with milkshakes.

I honestly don't remember much about what I had to read in high school 🤔 I remember reading Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and The Catcher in the Rye. Also a few books and short tales from Latin American authors. Unfortunately we couldn't choose for ourselves, the teacher decided for us :( but I liked most of what I read thankfully!

Yeah I loooove the pride and prejudice movie from 2005! I also want to watch the 1995 miniseries but I haven't had the time yet. I want to watch the Sense and sensibility movie too after I finish the book to see how faithful it is heheh

Tbh when it comes to ships I tend to like the popular (or canon) choices, like EdWin, TwiYor, RinShi, HanaNene, SasaMiya etc. But for media that has a big cast and doesn't focus on romance (like Haikyuu or Genshin) I tend to multiship and I like less common ships too!! I admit I'm not very creative for finding new ships so usually I end up drawn in by that one artists that is obsessed with a rarepair but has a really cute art style 😅 I'm trying to think about some examples but my mind is blank rn 🤔 maybe this is my sign to go back and consume more hq fanart like I did back in the day lol

Ohh I still haven't watched the last episode either, but idk, it's hard to say goodbye to this series 😭 my excuse is that I usually wait to watch it with my partner but we haven't had the opportunity to watch it together yet. I can't delay it for much longer tho or the entire episode will be spoiled for me sooner or later hahaha

This was cute! Although it did take me a long ass time to watch 4 40-minute episodes but I think that’s just my problem and me entering some sort of slump rather than the show not being cute or engaging. 

I think the actors were cute, wonder what Rookie Thailand has in store for them next.

I loved having Uncle Man as a queer adult who was there to offer up his experience and advice, as well as reassure Q’s mom. So good! Also liked the tight-knit friend group even though Q was kinda taking advantage of them lol

Are you rewatching ofmd today or are you just *going through it* today?

This was sent yesterday and I didn’t see it until today omg! But to answer your question:

I WILL HAVE YOU KNOW THAT YESTERDAY WAS THE FIRST TIME IN A WEEK THAT I DID NOT REWATCH AN EPISODE OF OFMD SO ✨PROGRESS✨ (but typically I am constantly in a state of rewatching ofmd and coincidentally also in a constant state of going through it)

Honestly I had a four day weekend followed by several, several weekends filled with things to do and people to visit and gender reveals to attend and family to comfort and kids making me cry in class and it’s been a LOT

This is literally gonna sound so fucking entitled but the four day break literally just didn’t feel like enough of a break for me to get my batteries up to full speed after essentially a month of socializing (which also meant no steady sleep routine and missing the gym and eating out more which is ANNOYING how much that shit ACTUALLY affects mental health stuff, I thought y’all were lyin 😭) and instead of feeling rested it felt really overwhelming to back to work

That on top of the really strong emotional reaction I had to ofmd just made me like……. Idfk REALLY out of it this week, and fixating on ofmd because Ive been so anxious about The Real World and lowkey don’t we all wish, at least a little bit, that we could be pirates sailing on the sea and not have to worry about a 9-5????????

but I DO feel like I’m getting back into the swing of things

(I do worry that I’ll be devastated if they don’t renew ofmd but it does mean hbo will have to face my gay wrath 🔪)

Once Upon A Time Rewatch: 6x15 A Wondrous Place

Just moved yesterday so bear with me. Lifted so many bags. If my arms aren’t like Emma’s after that I am suing! 

What episode do we have today?

A Wondrous Place. Okay, I don’t really remember that one. Do they go to Agrabah? Guess we’ll find out.

I wonder if Wonderland and Agrabah are right next to each other. It seemed to be the case in Ouat in Wonderland but maybe there’s a set portal between them or something. Either that or they’re in the same realm.

Agrabah is apparently across the desert from Eric’s Kingdom. So, in the same realm as the Enchanted Forest? 

Did you know, Snow’s nightmare prison realm in 7x22 was Agrabah? 

Let David be angry about what happened, dammit. I wish they would make it more about David’s feelings as opposed to being about trust in Emma and Hook’s relationship. What’s the point in adding this Storyline if there’s not going to be conflict between the people involved? 

Okay, I get that they wanted conflict in Emma and Hook’s relationship, but she’s not even upset about the actual murder. They could have made it about him not trusting her with the secret of him being a furry or something if that’s what they were going for. Basically, why write in the murder of David’s father if there is not going to be consequences for that or conflict about that specifically? Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea and potential of Hook killing David’s father. We get one scene of David pacing before making it all about CS trust issues and that’s it?? I just want David to be as upset as he was at George when he found out his dad was murdered. I want Emma to question her stance on forgiveness, even for a loved one, when those close to her are hurt irreparably right in front of her. Where is the internal and external conflict? I don’t want it to be about rehashed trust issues. I want it to be about how characters come to terms and move forward in an angst-ridden impossible situation.

Emma is so blasé about Hook running off. She just seems like she wants to sleep. But she seems like she wants to sleep this whole damn season. Girl’s so done with everything. Completely checked out, bless her. Though it is sad to see a favourite character change so dramatically. Compare her to s1 or even s4 Emma and goodness gracious I just think s6 Emma might benefit from a heavy dose of sleeping curse or something. Let. Her. Sleep. Someone could just run Henry through in front of her and she’d take about 10 minutes to even realise and be like “Oh. Okay.” in slow motion when she finally notices and then she’d make out with Hook. Bonus points if Hook is the one to run Henry through.

So, these events occur before present day events of Ouatiw. Agrabah was trapped in a ring all throughout Ouatiw? I feel like we saw it still standing in the present day in Ouatiw, no? I need to rewatch. 

Are the people of Agrabah still living their best lives inside that ring? Do they even know they’re trapped?

Ha! Turned into a staff. He freaking deserves that after doing exactly that to Amara. But then and again she probably deserved it. 

All they had to do was kiss to get Agrabah out of that ring. What?! Oh, and he’s free from the genie curse too. This is getting ridiculous. Can we please have some consistency with the limitations of magic? Genie curses cannot be flipping broken with true loves kiss. That would have saved Cyrus and Alice a hell of a lot of trouble!

It felt like ridiculous solutions were thrown into that episode. How do these tears of the saviour rules work? Could Cora have taken Emma’s tears to stop her taking a portal to Henry in 2a or does it just prevent her taking a portal to her romantic love and vice versa? What?!
