REVIVAL SEASON — OUTERNATIONAL MIXTAPE Released by Heavenly Recordings Artwork & design by Jason Travis Outernational is a 28 minute mixtape that’s equal parts Prince Paul and King Tubby; a royal smash up of loops, riffs, rhymes and riddims written by Revival Season and assembled by Raf Rundell (O.M. Days/The 2 Bears). Picture the scene. Three men - rapper BEZ, producer Jonah and vibes provider Raf are on a fishing trip in the Bermuda Triangle. They become shipwrecked and their SOS broadcast turns into something more like a pirate radio operation. Contained within their transmissions to the outside world are salty versions, unreleased freestyles and wide open seas of echoes. Maybe the heavy energy of the sound they’re creating will be enough to get their boat moving. Until then, they are outernationals, borderless in their pursuits. Tune in and become a castaway yourself.

Revival Season, das Projekt von Jonah Swilley (Produzent aus Atlanta und Gründungsmitglied von Mattiel, auch bekannt für seine Produktionsarbeit mit Moonwalks und Night Beats) und Brandon 'Bez' Evans (Rapper aus Columbus, Georgia) haben das Video zu "Propaganda" veröffentlicht, dem neuesten Track aus ihrem kommenden Debütalbum "Golden Age Of Self Snitching", das am 23. Februar auf Heavenly Recordings erscheint.

"The video delves into Americana themes in overt and subtle ways", erzählen die Beiden über den Kopfnicker-Track samt scheppernden Snares. "Spotlighting B as the central figure, while Jonah's character undergoes a subtle evolution in the backdrop. The video's sombre tone mirrors the subject matter, underscoring that everything B articulates in his lyrics takes centre stage in the song."

so my initial theory regarding how they’d handle the hell arc in tlovm was that they’d combine it with the quest for the dawnmartyr’s plate (bc they both involved a contract to kill a pit fiend and also hotis isn’t a thing in the show)

but upon the trailer i don’t think that’s the reason they go to hell

Revival Season, das Projekt des in Atlanta ansässigen Produzenten Jonah Swilley (Gründungsmitglied von Mattiel und auch bekannt für seine Arbeit mit Moonwalks und Night Beats) und des Rappers Brandon 'Bez' Evans, haben ihr Debütalbum "Golden Age Of Self Snitching" für den 23. Februar 2024 angekündigt (digital only, via Heavenly). In Anlehnung an Dan the Automator & Prince Pauls "Handsome Boy Modelling School" und Beastie Boys "Paul's Boutique" ist Swilleys dynamische, sich ständig verändernde Produktion die Kraft, die Evans Worte antreibt. Revival Season erzählen auf den vierzehn Songs gesellschaftskritische Geschichten aus unserem Zeitalter – über Cops, Snitches, Drogenhandel und Revolution – untermalt von Beats, die mit einem Plateaustiefel direkt in die Zähne treten. "Golden Age of Self-Snitching" strotzt nur so von Kreativität mit einem Sound, der sich ständig entwickelt und verändert - manchmal aalglatt ("Last Dance"), manchmal ruckelnd, glitchy und stotternd ("The Path"), manchmal überraschend schrill ("Look Out Below") und manchmal mit rasselnden Beats ("Message in a Bottle"). “Dungeon Family, OutKast, CeeLo, Organized Noize”, erklärt Swilley, “…they kind of allowed for us to exist”, ergänzt das Duo. “We feel comfortable to do what we do now because of people like that, and I think we’re just trying to carry that torch.”

Zur Ankündigung haben Revival Season außerdem die neueste Single "Pump" veröffentlicht, mit der das B-Boy-Dreamteam auf die Art von slo-mo, bouncing, Hip-Hop zurückkehrt, für den die Südstaaten in den 90er Jahren berühmt waren. Ein unverzichtbarer Jam für die nächste Blockparty.
