Okay so I was discussing this with one of my friends earlier and I wanna ask... Have any of y'all likeā€” Actually ACTUALLY wondered how these "Revert AU'sā€ would work? Specifically with the Murder Time Trio n all...
"What's a Revert AU? What's it like?" Well if you ask me, I sorta assume it's when the AT/AU returns back to normal (or at least, the closest it can get to regular Undertale), where the bad things that made that specific universe how it is gets fixed due to specific scenarios or events that happened.
I kinda wanna ramble about a Something New Revert timeline rn but I'll yap a bit first hbsjsbdns
If we follow the canon, then realistically there is no way in hell a Revert AU would be possible for Horrortale UNLESS some big miracle happens. There would need to be a very specific line of fortunate events seeing asā€” well... How messed up everything is.
Dusttale on the other hand would be a lot more possible if we assume the player finally decides to give up. It would be a long process, but it's honestly possible. Murder would've already fallen into the routine of killing everyone before the player catches up, but imagine... Waiting in the corridor or hiding somewhere so that you can ambush the player, but they justā€” never arrive. And when you try to check where they are, they're simply at the beginning of the game, laying there, doing nothing. Yeah, sure, Murds would definitely kill them the first few times this happens but wouldn't he at least be a little bit intrigued by this change of behavior?
OKAY UHM MOVING ON... I'll rant about a Revert Dusttale au later but what about Something New? What about Killer? How would that work? How would Killer handle it? Well, lemme tell you this pal. I genuinely do believe that this is possible.
If we follow the canon events of the timeline, then I'm sure you'll know that by the end of it, Killer would get interrupted and kidnapped by Nightmare either way whether he'd like it or not, and even if Nm didn't interrupt, then Killer would've already deleted himself from his AT longgggg ago. BUT, what about that timeline where Color saves Killer, taking him away from Nm's grasp? The Revert timeline could always start from there.
Imagine being Killer's Papyrus, still searching for your brother for probably years ever since he disappeared on the day he says goodbye? Imagine finding him again, returned but different, in a way. But you couldn't care less. He's still alive even after all these years and you genuinely couldn't care about finding out where'd he'd been this entire time that you can't help but embrace him in your arms, choked sobs escaping from the both of you as you ignored the stares and gazes from everyone around you. And honestly, none of them probably cared because they're equally as happy as you are. "Sans" was finally back.
Color likely helped (and accompanied) Killer to return to his timeline, despite his hesitation.
Killer would definitely have a difficult time adapting to this new life. And oh boyā€” Papyrus couldn't be more concerned for him ESPECIALLY with all the trauma he's endured for all these yearsšŸ˜
Imagine Papyrus getting him a bottle of ketchup, maybe even multiple of them as a treat for Killer because he thinks he deserves it, only for Killer to just... Back away, visibly trembling from just the sight of the bottle alone. Imagine cooking him spaghetti, wanting to show how much you've improved your cooking skills and trying to get your brother to at least eat something, only for him to just stare at it, breathing heavily as his entire body trembles from even just the smell. He looked like he was about to puke, and ultimately you decided to go with something simple for him instead, like a bowl of warm soup.
Imagine having to feed him yourself because his fingers won't stop shaking every time he picks up the spoon. You listened as he kept mumbling apologies when you grabbed a handkerchief to wipe the spilled contents. You notice how he seems to be out of touch with reality when you bring up the spoon towards his mouth, having to wait a second or two before he finally accepts the food.
Imagine having to bring your brother to your bedroom instead of his because he kept refusing to go to his own, to the point where he was begging not to. And when you do let him sleep in your bed with you, you keep waking up due to him having nightmares or having a breakdown in the middle of the night. But you don't mind comforting him, sitting with him as you let him cry on your chest, as long as you're able to help him in some way.
And oh boy, I haven't even started on how the others would react to Killer.
Like how Grillby would notice how Killer rarely ever visits. And even if he did, he would either not eat at all or order literally anything BUT his usual. Undyne, Alphys and the other would literally notice how Killer became extremely clingy to Papyrus, rarely ever seeing them separated (which is pretty understandable considering how long they haven't seen each other for...). Imagine how off putting it is going for an entire day without hearing a pun, and whenever he finally does make one, you can't help but feel a little glad.
Color definitely visits Killer on a daily basis to check on him and accompany him for a while. The others would definitely question how they knew each other or where Color came from, and the two would just brush it off like it always has been like that. Although they definitely don't mind letting Color stay for a bit since he and Killer are close. (And because he's the closest to a therapist that they can afford right now)
How would they react to the existence of Killer's other stages though? And how would the underground change ever since Killer's absence?
Will be discussed next time I feel like ranting!! Cya later folks because I am thirsty and need to eat

heā€™s pale, is the first thing you notice about Choso. his skin, alabaster and soft, is cold with the barely there flick of his fingers. he thumbs at your cheek first, pressing the pad into your flesh until his print will forever be marred into your skin.
his eyes are dark, almost plum in color. theyā€™re hooded, low, but they take in everything around him. his gaze is predator sharp, zeroing in on the beating thumps in your neck, that one vein that forks down your jugular. his eyes catch sight of the little hiccuped breath you take, how your own roll into your head when he noses along your temples.
his mouth is ice cold where it hovers over you, tense and teasing, not yet, not quite, biting. his fangs are long, thin, needle like points that scrape the top layer of your flesh. you hiss when a tiny droplet of blood escapes the confines of your skin, sigh when he kisses it away.
he pulls back with a pale mouth, dotted in your crimson. itā€™s not enough to messy him the same way it would when he drank from you, but the sight makes you lightheaded nonetheless. he licks his lips once, twice, eyes fluttering at the taste of you on his tongue.
and he sinks his teeth in, the act erotic, all encompassing, unnerving, and yet fulfilling. it stings, but he holds you so close, that you think that maybe, youā€™ll be able to transfer your warmth back to him. that maybe if he drinks enough of you, youā€™ll be able to feel his heart beat once more. that maybe if devours you, itā€™ll be the ultimate act of love; to let him eat away at your being until he becomes full, again.

that last scene in the qaf finale was painful. we get a voiceover of michael talking about how some things should never change and the show decided that very much included brian. we then get him dancing in babylon to beat us over the head with the idea that nothing has changed at its core. but everything has in that moment. everything had changed for seasons. with everyone dancing "the way it should be" brian was the only one who didn't fit in that scene, yet there he was smack in the middle of it all
this wasn't growth, it wasn't poetic, it was a poorly written ending

Do you think, when he was arrested, that Cell was seen as the same as any other prisoners? Do you think he resided in the same places, ate the same food, performed the same work? Do you think the guards saw him and his violent history and let him roam the same as the thieves whose POV we saw it through?
Or do you think they saw this barely 18-year-old, who turned to violence and cannibalism as a means to survive, and recognized the danger he posed? Do you think they held him down, fought against his struggle, and let the other prisoners know that he wasnā€™t like them?
Do you think Cell was confused, confused as to why he was so different from the other Brazilians that lived in those same conditions? Do you think that he saw them as threats not because they were ones, but rather, because he knew that they lived so much better than him, yet still wound up here?
Do you think this manā€” if you could even call this teen a manā€” saw JV, Pac, Mike, and Guaxinim as threats out of jealousy? Empty wishes that he could have lives their lives and made smarter decisions to be a free man roaming the earth?
Do you think he cried when they held him down and put that infernal thing on him?

"You're Getting Older/Ass Burgers", the Analysis that nobody asked for:
Iā€™ve seen lots of discourse about the ā€˜ā€™Youā€™re Getting Olderā€™ x ā€˜Ass Burgersā€™ episodes (and for good reason - imo theyā€™re some of the best episodes in all of cartoons and even media in general that shows what depression is actually like). Folks seem really eager to pick sides - either defending Stan's struggle with depression and condemning Kyle's abandonment, or justifying Kyle's decision to distance himself from Stan's overwhelming negativity. But here's the thing: this really isn't a situation where we need to choose teams (and picking a team misses the whole fucking point).Ā Ā Iā€™ve had this written for a while but might as well share it now since Iā€™m feeling a certain way about TikTokā€™s potential ban in a couple hours lmao.
Imo, the truth is a combination of both. Stan was wrong to expect Kyle to understand the utter depression and dark thoughts he was having and be able to offer real support based on those extremely dark thoughts. And Kyle was 100% wrong to just give up so easily on such a deep friendship despite the struggles and negativity his friend was projecting onto him. And I hate either Stan apologists defending Kyle being a piece of shit for this, and I similarly hate Kyle apologists for defending Kyle walking away so quickly and giving up so readily to their deep friendship even if it was for something he couldnā€™t understand. Neither side is right.Ā Ā
The brilliance of these episodes lies in how they capture the messy reality of friendship during mental health struggles. Stan's experiencing somethingĀ terrifyingĀ and incomprehensible - literally seeing and tasting everything as shit, a perfect metaphor for depression. He's a 10-year-old kid dealing with adult emotions he has no framework to understand or express. Of course he lashed out, especially given that it was the ADULTS he was supposed to trust who got him into alcohol in the first place. Of course he was difficult to be around. But telling your best friend "fuck you" and then trying to backpedal?Ā That's not okay, depression or not.
On the flip side, Kyle's position is equally complex. Watching your best friend spiral into darkness while being completely unable to help or understand what they're going through? That's scary as hell, especially for a kid. But the show makes it crystal clear through the executive's pointed commentary that walking away from someone diagnosed with a serious condition - which depression absolutely is - represents a fundamental failure of friendship.
The episode literally tells us word-for-word what the creators want us to get from it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later on, the exec says, "Oh yeah, like any friend would say something that severe and then try to take it back' (at Stan trying to downplay his telling 'fuck you' to kyle's face earlier.)
And then they say when Kyle says that Stan's negativity was poison to him, the exec says sarcastically, "Yeah, like any friend would walk out on somebody who was diagnosed with a serious illness!"
The exec here is telling us what the creators want you to get out of the episode - that Stan, despite his scary and new feelings,Ā never should have verbally treated Kyle that way, mental health issues or not. And that Kyle, despite the scary things his friend was feeling and how confusing it was,Ā never should have just walked away from him. Trying to defend either boyā€™s behavior does nobody any good. THEY BOTH WERE WRONG.
What makes these episodes so powerful is their refusal to offer easy answers. Stan couldn't help falling into depression, but he could have tried harder to not push Kyle away or verbally be so harsh. Kyle couldn't fix Stan's depression, but he could have shown more patience and understanding instead of just bailing when things got tough. The show is saying something profound here:Ā sometimes in life, everyone can be wrong at the same time, and that's what makes these situations so painfully human.
If there is anyone to be upset with in this situation, itā€™s the adults in Stanā€™s life. Their failure is staggering and unfortunately realistic. Randy and Sharonā€™s response to Stan's crisis is almost a textbook example of how not to handle a child's mental health issues (and this is coming from someone who usually respects Sharon). Instead of focusing on their clearly struggling son, they make it all about their own drama. Randy goes on national TV to call his son a ā€˜freakā€™ and the reason for the divorce. I love Sharon, and while it is shown she at least does the bare minimum to take Stan to therapy, she often gets way too involved in her showdowns with Randy over her childrenā€™s well-being (just look to the episode where Stan gets shot at schoolĀ  but Sharon caves to Randyā€™s nonchalant response on this. I know this was more meant to be funny, but genuinely, what about Stan in this situation? What fear did he have to go through when he got shot at school and realized his parents didnā€™t fucking care enough to immediately go see him? Again, I love Sharon, but her potential of being a good parent is seriously held back from her hold on Randyā€™s manipulations.)
Stan also goes to the school-counselor as a cry for help, but Mr. Mackeyā€™s response is both satirical and sadly reflective of real-world issues in mental health diagnoses. Rather than actually listening to Stan's symptoms and concerns, he jumps to an incorrect diagnosis based on trendy medical fears (the vaccine-autism conspiracy theory). This represents a broader criticism of how mental health issues in children are often misdiagnosed or dismissed, especially when adults are more concerned with their own theories than actually listening to the child. I think one of the only times Iā€™ve actually teared up when watching SP or ANY SHOW is when Stan asks while finally crying after being so emotionally numb for so long, so vulnerably, ā€œHow do you go on when NOTHING makes you happy?ā€Ā Stan isĀ genuinelyĀ asking this question here. He utterly does not understand how anyone can continue to live life while being so miserable. But of course, Mr. Mackey goes to ruin it by touting conspiracy theories. This context actually makes Kyle's failure even more tragic - he was literally Stan's last hope for support, the only person left who Stan thought might have understood, the person he loved and trusted the most, the only person he trusted enough to open up fully to, and the last thing in Stan's eyes to turn to literal shit. But it also somewhat explains Kyle's inability to handle it - he's just a kid himself, and when all the adults in Stan's life failed so spectacularly, it's too fucking much to expect a 10-year-old to know how to handle his friend's depression. The episodes work as a damning indictment of how society handles childhood mental health issues. While Stan and Kyle's friendship breakdown is the emotional core,Ā the real villains are the adults who should have known better and done better, and I wonā€™t accept any Stan or Kyle ā€˜apologistsā€™ claiming otherwise. It's especially poignant because South Park usually portrays kids as being more sensible than adults - but here, everyone fails, highlighting just how difficult mental health situations can be to navigate without proper support systems.
#south park#stan marsh asking for help and getting: āŒtherapy āŒsupport āœ…assburgers āœ…national embarrassment āœ…a new and unasked for addiction#stan marsh#kyle broflovski#you're getting older#ass burgers#stan deserved better from the adults in his life#kyle tried the best he could#south park meta#10 is too young to be this utterly depressed#when your dad calls you a freak on national tv but at least you have assburgers#mr mackey googled 'why sad kid' and picked the first WebMD result#everyone failed the vibe check including all the 'therapists' and 'group' who gets you addicted to alcohol against your will#but seriously everything is actual shit rn#downloading all my data from TikTok rn#Iā€™m a small content creator on there that does silly guitar song#everything seems so surreal - like an actual fever dream#so now Iā€™m just fuckin stressed and apparently reverting to SP analyses so here we are lol#goddamn this data request is taking forever lol#no Iā€™ll prob never do a face reveal here but yes I have a small following of folks on TT who like my silly made up songs#and I mostly feel bad for the small businesses that really relied on TikTok#seriously what the FUCK is happening w our democracy rn#ngl I wish I had something stronger than beer atm#mr mackey's diagnostic criteria: kid sad? must be vaccines. kid happy? believe it or not- also vaccines#congratulations on your depression here's a hamburger up your ass#medical science has come so far#ok somebody better come take my new keyboard away from me now lmao

I have two more Beetlejuice posts in my drafts I have yet to finish. I've decided that after I post those, I will not be writing any more theories, analyses, and spec posts. Not just for Beetlejuice, but for any other fandom I'm in. Just little fangirling posts and maybe even fic. But no more meta of the kind I just mentioned.
The reason is that I put a lot of thought and effort in those type of posts, and maybe I am too thin-skinned, but it just bothered me a little too much when I saw people spreading one of my Beetlejuice theories on reddit without linking to me or at least saying they read it on Tumblr (they just said they read it "somewhere") and yes, they could have lost the link or just forgot where the heck they read it, but like I said, I'm thin-skinned. I don't mind if someone writes a fic with the same idea I wrote for a fic myself, as long as they aren't like plagiarizing my words (ideas are ideas and no one actually owns them, is what I mean), but I do mind when my analysis, theories, etc are referenced or reposted and spread and then everyone's like "I read this interesting theory on reddit", when that reddit person didn't come up with it; they just got it from my blog post and wrote about it and said "I read this interesting theory somewhere".
I know it's just fandom stuff and it doesn't really matter, but I guess, like I said, I'm thin-skinned šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø And I don't want my fandom work to be reduced to "something interesting I read on reddit" because someone on reddit decided to post it there without crediting the source. Again, it doesn't really matter, this kinda stuff is common, whatever. But I feel personally it's very annoying, you know? Because just like in fandom there's people who create fanart or fanfiction, there's people who create meta posts; who create analytical and theoretical posts of the text and subtext of the work of fiction, and just like it's accepted to respect and credit a piece of fanart, it should be the same with meta posts like theories, analyses, etc. Because all of it constitutes fanwork. Just what I think.
I won't even tag this because this is just me venting and probably being too emotionally attached to my meta. But yes, let's always credit people's creations, and if you don't remember, then just say something like "I read this on Tumblr, but I don't remember who it was", someone reading the post might know who it was and tag the person. It's not complicated. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø
