Reverse Crush!Ladrien Headcanon (and some episode Rewrites)

This is up to Season 2

Thanks to Midnight Kittens, Swapped in More Ways Than One and this AO3 series called 'you made me a hero - reverse crush short stories', I know have the headcanon that Ladybug would find Adrien on a roof and goes to check if he's not doing anything drastic. He's not, he just needed some time out of the house (he transformed in Chat briefly). Adrien talks about how he feels confined, Ladybug lets it slip, being a hero sometimes makes it hard. Adrien is surprised, don't get him wrong, he is very aware being a hero isn't a walk in the park. But hearing LADYBUG say that is a bit jarring. They talk about how that's okay to feel not okay and an odd friendship is struck (and then Ladybug escorts him back down).

In 'Origins Part 2', Adrien is still interested in Ladybug, I think that part would stay the same. But only because it's implied (confirmed in Season 5) that if Adrien wasn't there, Marinette/Ladybug would be in love with Chat. This is implying the same, Chat was growing feelings for Ladybug but then fell in love with Marinette instead.

In 'The Mime', when Ladybug interrupts Adrien's car. She apologize but says he needs to get out of the car and referring to him by his full name. Adrien asks how she knows his name. Ladybug pales before making up the excuse that he's a famous model, why wouldn't she know his name. Adrien buys and leaves the car to transform.

In 'Simon Says', the exchange remains where say hello but they're not timid about it. Likewise, when Ladybug goes to see 'Adrien taking a shower', Ladybug is still awkward. But it's less being she's being pervy and more she's forced to talk to someone whose supposedly naked! When Adrien walks out, he notes his mother on his desktop and says she's pretty. Ladybug agrees, before saying he has her eyes. Realizing she just said that the person she's supposed to be protecting's eyes are pretty, she briefly goes into Marinette mode and rambles about how they're not pretty before realizing that's an insult and backpedaling before Adrien says he knows what she was trying to say. Ladybug nervously chuckles and says she's not really good at this whole bodyguard thing before Adrien reassures her, she's doing great, making her smile.

(No 'Volpina' here. In this AU, Marinette would befriend Lila, who lies and says she knows Chat Noir, making Adrien suspicious. As a result, Adrien keeps the book and confronts Lila. I don't like him doing this as much I didn't like Marinette doing it, but he's been shown in some episodes being VERY petty, plus we need a reason for her to get akumatized. The part where Volpina kidnaps 'Adrien' is replaced with her with kidnapping 'Marinette', so any Ladrien would be replaced with MariChat).

Small bit in 'The Collector', where Ladybug tells Chat Noir he thinks Adrien could be Hawk Moth. She doesn't like this theory, since he seems 'like such a good kid'.

Riposte: Ladybug's still protective over Adrien, but that's normal for a hero protecting a civilian from a villain. Lines like 'She doesn't deserve you.' are removed, because those sound suspiciously romantic despite Riposte coming before Frozer where it was confirmed Kagami had romantic feelings for Adrien. When Adrien says Marinette didn't mean to hurt Riposte, he starts gushing about she's the kindest, nicest girl in the world. Ladybug blushes (that is still her after all) but gets back on track. When Ladybug brings her and Adrien close, she sheepishly asks if it's okay, and Adrien says it's fine also sheepishly. And they swing away. Adrien still doesn't tell Ladybug he's claustrophobic because 1. he doesn't want to burden her and 2. he needs her to go away so he transform into Chat.

Sorry, no 'Glaciator' or 'Gorizilla' because they'd both be Marichat leaning.

i know people like to make Alya the crazy butting-herself-into-someone-else's-relationship person, but i never felt like that was fair, when she's only so involved in marinette's love life because marinette MADE her involved. marinette canonically wakes alya up early saturday mornings to whine to her about her adrien problems, most of the crazy adrienette schemes were made by marinette herself with only alya's partial help, and then, what, marinette expects alya to believe her when she says she's toooootally over adrien this time for real and it tooooootally isn't another intentional self-sabotage this time alya i swear—

anyway. i fully believe that marinette would 10000% be a much much crazier "matchmaker" than alya if she were given the right conditions. if marinette knew someone like marinette she would absolutely be butting herself into the relationship even without being invited to. ladybug literally made mylene kiss a giant stone golem because "ooommgg they're made for each other". marinette tried to force kagami to get back together with adrien despite having no knowledge of their relationship or why they broke up in the first place. alya only gets a bad rep because she's a supporting cast to the central romance, but if marinette was the supporting cast to a different central romance, she would be 999999x worse. and i mean this with so much love

The shouts of an argument woke you up, as usual, your parents were fighting about something you didn't care to know. You had long given up on wanting to find out. Pulling your phone off the charger, you checked the time. You had woken up early, as always, with some time before you needed to go to school again.With a mix of anguish and anger, you got out of bed, glancing around the large room obscured by black curtains, allowing only a sliver of light to pass through the fabric.

—"And now I'm the one to blame?! If I could, I would have left this shitty house!! Far away from you!!"

—"Then go! Go away, you selfish piece of crap!"

—"I'm not leaving because of our daughter, you idiot! The only thing keeping me in this mess!!!"

As always, your name was mentioned. You've long since stopped caring. It was always the same; she said she would leave, but never did.After getting dressed, you glanced at the bed and saw Sass emerging from under the covers. Walking slowly over to him, you placed your hand beside the kwami, allowing him to climb on.

"They're fighting again," you commented as you looked at the kwami. Sass began to float and hid in your hair. Grabbing your headphones, you selected a song and turned up the volume before heading towards the argument.

Descending the white hallway and stairs, you walked to the living room, heading towards the dining room. You stepped over a broken vase on the floor that your parents had just thrown.

—"Why don't you just disappear right now, you contemptible little piece of shit!"

—"The only one who should disappear here is you! You fucking whore!"

You walk past your parents in the living room, entering the dining room and immediately sitting down. You observe the quiet butler placing your breakfast of fried eggs and pastries on the table. Taking advantage of your parents being too busy arguing and the butler being away from the room, you sneakily grab a piece of egg and place it on your lap. With sass, you sit quietly and eat while also having your breakfast.

Leaving home, you finally sighed, the ominously reddish sky a constant presence in everyday life. Looking out of the limousine window, you once again wished you were in a better place.

I've got a new Reverse Paris fic nearing completion and I'm just kinda curious what the ShadyClaw temp is out there, since I'm not seeing a ton of new material come across my timeline lately...

(For those of you who are familiar with it, this is a companion piece to my previously posted Reverse fic, 'A New Beginning', which was written from Adrien's POV- the new piece will be Marinette's POV of that same encounter)

for this au I'm thinking reverse love square, but Luka instead of Adrien

Luka walks his sister to school (coz he's a good big brother and she's nervous about her first day), he bumps into Marinette - now, he's already heard about Marinette from his sister but he's never actually met her before

He actually physically bumps into Marinette, or she does to him coz heck our girl lacks spatial awareness, and she falls but he catches her, and she doesn't feel anything but embarrassment but he, oh Luka, Luka is blushing, just a little bit coz wow, she's just got the prettiest freckles

and he's all up in her face so he leans back and helps her upright because he was practically dipping her and he let's go of her waist and Juleka mumbles 'Hi, Marinette'

so this is Marinette

she says hi back and introduces herself, 'oh you must be Juleka's older brother, Luka', Juleka mumbles smth about twins but Luka's not paying attention to her anymore, he's looking at Marinette and thinking about all the good things Jules has had to say about her in the past and how pretty she is, our boy is swooning so hard, he forgot to reply back before the warning bell has rung signalling to students class is starting soon

he says a quick rushed 'bye, you'll do great, I'll be here to pick you up' to Juleka and a quick smile to Marinette before he pushes the girls towards their classrooms and rushes out himself (this all takes place after the incident (test) with Master Fu)

This is Luka crushing on Marinette, then you have Marinette crushing on Scarlet Bug

because this strong, hunk of a guy, beautiful man is now her partner against crime (which she didn't sign up for !! but she'll do what she needs to do for the people of Paris) and at one point she gets flung across the block and lands in the beefy arms of a boy with gorgeous blue eyes

cue Marinette getting extremely nervous and stutter-y around him coz damn, she's falling

the fight goes so and so but it passes pretty quick, it was a bit difficult for Luka coz his partner would trip sometimes and wouldn't look him in the eyes but he just put it down to first time jitters, he was deffo feeling them too

they don't, however, purify the Akuma and so they're back at the fight a little over an hour later but now with a new addition to their already new team, Adrian !! (referring to Dog Miraculous!Adrien as Adrian coz I don't like Flairmidable, and Adrian is apparently a common name for dogs so hush)

Adrien is gay, he's known since he was a kid, women never crossed his mind - so when he lays eyes on the gorgeous gorgeous black and red haired (because I say so !!) boy that he is now meant to fight these so-called Akumas with, can you really blame him for falling in love?

So Adrien being Adrien starts flirting with this boy, non-stop, and it's not like he tells him to stop, no !! The boy, ScarletBug he introduced himself as, flirts back !! he indulges in Adrian's advances which springs a little hope in his heart, but also makes a certain Kitty mad

This wretched dog, just showed up out of no where! and is stealing her man!!

She gets so mad, she forgets to be nervous around Scarlet and here marks the start of a beautiful rivalry between Chien and Chat (maybe I'll have a play with the word chein for Adrien's superhero name)

This leads to them defeating the Akuma rather quickly and skillfully, bringing all surrounding citizens to awe as they watch this trio of Superheroes who work so well together and at the end, after Scarlet has purified the Akuma and Miraculous ScarletBug'd all the damage away, he extends both of his fists to new partners

the first 'Pound it' of many, even if this time Kitty and Adrian didn't do it to each other (they both have eyes only for Scarlet, they don't even take notice of each other)

until he bounds away that is, saying how he's about to transform and needs to hurry home and he rushes a quick goodbye and salute to them both before leaving

then the two left on the Eiffel finally take notice of each other's presence, glaring at each other with pouts on their faces and crossed arms

'Back off, dumb dog'

'He's mine, stupid cat'

'I saw him first!'

'I talked to him first!'

cue more glaring, growling and hissing until their ring/choker (omg I forgot the dog miraculous is basically a collar) beeps and reminds them they need to hurry back to class

so with a hmph from both kids, they hop down from the Eiffel and head off to detransform

No more HAPPY sketches... I've been in a very sour mood since Disney+ Canada did NOT release the MLB World Paris special like in the US. So I punished myself watching horror films and binging some rando TV series that ended being freaking awesome (The Bear, my new sandwich guy). But that's not the point! I'm angry. I finally finished re-reading 1984 so I'm all dystopian-sad-apocalyptic mood. I'm going to grab those neglected november sketches for the new year.

Adrien sighed quietly, leaning on his fist as he craned his neck back to stare blatantly at Marinette. It was study hall so he could finally get away with just focusing on her. Not for the first time that day, though did he wish he sat behind her. That way, he’d be able to peek up at her periodically through the day rather than having to crane his head back awkwardly to look at her.

She looked adorable. Just like she did every day. Her tongue was stuck out of the side of her mouth as she concentrated on whatever it was she was drawing. 

Cute.

Clearing his throat, Adrien leaned forward, tapping her desk to get her attention. She looked up, her pretty blue eyes wide with shock. 

“What are you drawing, Marinette?” he asked, hopeful to hear her soft voice as she directed her attention to him alone.

Her surprise at his sudden question melted into a warm smile, and Adrien couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement.

"I was actually just sketching some of my ideas down for fashion. It helps for inspiration when I’m creating." Marinette replied.

Adrien leaned in a bit closer, intrigued by her creative process. "Can I see?" he asked eagerly, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Marinette hesitated for a brief moment before nodding. She turned her notebook towards Adrien, revealing a series of intricate designs that showcased her talent and unique style.

The first page held numerous sketches of her and her friends in beautiful gowns. They all looked amazing. When he looked at the next page, however, his mouth dried. It was him. Or, well, Chat Noir, in a few different designs from Marinette. 

Suddenly, Adrien was struck by the urge to commission her. He’d wear those designs every day. He bit it back, however. As much as he might want to, he couldn’t reveal his secret identity. Not even to someone as perfect as Marinette.

"These are beautiful, Marinette!" Adrien exclaimed, genuinely impressed. "You're so talented. I especially liked the way that you drew Chat Noir." He winked up at her.

An adorable red blush lit up her face at the compliment, and she smiled gratefully. He needed to figure out how to get her to do that more often. She looked so cute with a flush on her cheeks. "Thank you, Adrien. That means a lot coming from you, being the son of a famous designer and all."

Encouraged by her positive reaction, he couldn't resist teasing her playfully. "You know, if you ever need a model for your designs, I'd be happy to volunteer."

Marinette's eyes widened in surprise, and then she burst into giggles, her laughter like music to his ears. "Sure, Adrien. I'll keep that in mind. If ever I make one of these frilly dresses, I’ll make sure that you’re the first one I call." She winked.

His heart quickened at her reaction, feeling dizzy with giddiness.

Wink! She winked at him. How was he meant to mentally function after that?

Adrien’s grin must have looked completely ridiculous as he couldn’t stop it from stretching wide across his cheeks. “I’ll be looking forward to it,” he replied, his voice filled with genuine excitement.

As the bell signaling the end of study hall rang, Adrien reluctantly tore his gaze away from Marinette who was laughing softly at his words. He made a mental note to find a way to bring up the topic of her designs again soon, maybe during their next study hall. 

After all, she had winked and laughed at him! That had to mean something... right? He wracked his brain, trying to remember if he had ever seen Marinette wink at anyone else. He couldn’t think of any which was a very pleasant thought.

As he walked to his next class, Adrien couldn’t shake off the image of Marinette’s sketches, especially the ones featuring Chat Noir. It was both thrilling and nerve-wracking to see himself depicted in her designs, knowing that she had no idea of his secret identity.

Maybe... maybe he could sneak over to her room one night, just to commission one of those designs. After all, if Adrien was able to take a peek at her designs, he figured she’d certainly let Chat Noir, a superhero, see them as well. With that plan in mind, Adrien’s grin stayed on his face for the rest of the day.

Shadybug/Claw Noir Reverse Umbrella scene Headcanon

(aka “Emo Adrien’s origin story”)

EmoAdrien was always homeschooled, just like regular Adrien, but after his mother died, he wasn’t interested in studying, or anything for that matter… he just stayed cooped up in his room in the dark, watching the DVD copy of “Solitude” over and over.

Anyone with a brain knows that’s not healthy, and Gabriel regretted homeschooling Adrien all these years because if Adrien had better social skills he would have friends his own age to help him deal with his grief in ways Gabriel cannot.

As such, Adrien’s only “friend” is Chloe Bourgeois’ a terrible influence and not so much as a “friend” as an unwanted playmate who clings to Adrien like a lovestruck leech whenever Audrey comes to talk business.

Adrien doesn’t WANT to go to school… it’s just another change in his life, and change sucks!

He’s convinced the school’s curriculum won’t be anywhere near HIS level, plus he’ll have to deal with other students (he doesn’t mind signing autographs, but having to sit with and study alongside other people? Gross.)

But Gabriel insists it will be good for him (also, kids with connections to show business as well as other important families go there, so it’s not like he’s sending Adrien to some public school full of delinquents).

Gabriel even rides in the limo with Adrien on his first day, but Adrien runs off at the school’s gate, even knocking down some poor old man without stopping to apologize in his attempt to escape. Gabriel has to help the old man up and apologize on his son’s behalf, explaining that Adrien is going through a difficult time right now.

The second day, Adrien isn’t able to escape, and is forced to show up, where he has to put on a fake smile as Chloe escorts him around despite the fact that he is repulsed by her touch (but her mom is the Style Queen and she ruins the careers of anyone unlucky enough to be within her line of sight when she’s having a bad day, so he has no choice but to pretend to be Chloe’s friend).

Everyone gushes over him, as they should, (he takes after his Mother, after all) which is fine so long as they keep their distance.

Some punk in glasses named ‘Nino’ had the nerve to be sitting at the same desk that Chloe had reserved for Adrien, but with a stern look and a word, that kid moved real quick to sit next to some girl in glasses who was giving Chloe major stink eye.

Sitting by himself means no one can copy off Adrien’s work, because he’s not going to let some rando ride his scholastic coattails.

But even with a desk to himself, Adrien is annoyed; Everyone at this school seems to know each other and lump together in their own little cliques and friend groups, and he is expected to join in with Chloe and he little flunky/servant Sabrina- the daughter of an Enforcer (there are no police, only Enforcers of Supreme Law.)

Adrien doesn’t want to be friends, he doesn’t want to be in this school- if things can’t go back to the way they used to be, he’d rather just be left alone!!!

The last straw comes at the end of the day; it’s raining, and his umbrella, which he left in the designated spot near the exit, is gone!

What. The. HECK?!

And then he sees her; some pigtailed girl with a red streak in her hair and a dark jacket with thorny vines embroidered on it, wearing earbuds and holding an umbrella- HIS UMBRELLA!

This girl is a dirty little thief!

He calls out to her but either the music in her earbuds is too loud or she has the audacity to ignore him, either way, he plans on catching up to her, taking back his property, and ripping her a new one- this was the wrong day to tick him off!

But for some reason this crazy girl jaywalks across the street and hops the half-wall to walk down alongside the canal, which is insane because rumor has it some lunatic released a crocodile in there.

Still, he can’t just let her get away with it!

So he gives chase and calls out to this thieving witch and then it happens…

“Rain drops pouring down, the figure of a lone woman walks down alongside the canal, holding her umbrella. The only sound is her footsteps against the pavement, and a lonely piano sonata. Suddenly, she pauses, glancing over her shoulder with a curious yet melancholy smile and covetous eyes…”

Adrien is frozen to the spot and his voice sticks in his throat as the pigtailed umbrella thief glances back at him over her shoulder briefly, before shrugging and carrying on her merry way, fully immersed in her music without a care in the world.

Content in her peaceful solitude.

There is a rumble of thunder overhead and Adrien swallows the lump in his throat. There is a fluttering in his chest that is not at all unpleasant and his face feels abnormally warm.

There is a honking of a car horn and a frantic calling of his name. His father urges him inside the limo and fusses over Adrien being so soaked and goes on about him catching a cold and blah blah blah.

But Adrien can only think of the mysterious girl who has the same melancholy smile as his Mother…

(Marinette was annoyed because she didn’t want the rain to ruin her make-up but she forgot her umbrella. Luckily, some poor sucker had yet to claim theirs and you snooze you lose! But she was in no rush to go home and listen to her mom’s nagging so she chose to take the longer, more scenic route with the least amount of other people so she could enjoy her music and relish in her luck that this was FINALLY a year where she WASN’T in the same class as Chloe! She thought she heard something, but all she saw was some blond moron standing in the rain, so she shrugged it off).

Not able to ask around directly because A.) He has an image to uphold, and B.) Chloe would probably throw a tantrum, Adrien has to resort to stalking… aka bribing his body guard to follow the Pigtailed girl from a distance, and he learns that she lives and works in a local Bakery just walking distance away from the school.

Rather than going in and demanding his umbrella back, he decides she’s probably a shy but die-hard fan of his, therefore as a celebrity, there is nothing wrong with letting a fan keep a little souvenir, right?

She’s also a very cute fan… and the only other person in the whole school who looks as miserable as he feels. He likes how her sense of style seems to reflect his own emotions.

He starts having his driver stop by the bakery every day after his fencing practice to pick him up a little something, so he can “visit”… or, you know, stare at her through the shop window.

On his birthday, rather than doing their annual fancy dinner with his father, he gets Chloe to get him a walk-in appointment with her exclusive hair dresser, and he gets a haircut that he thinks is the style that baker-girl would like, and maybe even shock his father.

Gabriel is shocked since Adrien never mentioned getting his hair cut, but he doesn’t get angry; figuring all teens go through rebellious periods and perhaps this is just a way for his son to cope with his grief… So Gabriel starts designing fashions to match his son’s new look because in Gabriel’s mind, fashion is about adaptability.

(That mock turtle neck shirt and the long sleeves of the white leather jacket would prove useful in keeping things hidden.)

When Claw Noir’s powers start to take their toll on Adrien’s body, he takes inspiration from the cute Baker Girl and hides it with thick make-up.

Again, Gabriel is sure this new “Emo” look is just a phase Adrien needs to get out of his system, so he is a supportive father who makes sure his son has only the best black nail-polish and kohl eyeliner money can buy.

The new, bad-boy “Emo” look is also a hit with Adrien’s fans, and he is even praised in ‘Style’ magazine.

Despite this, the only time Adrien feels like his pain is truly understood, like he’s truly not alone, are those short but sweet moments he can gaze at that pretty Baker-girl from a distance.

He lacks the courage to actually go inside to speak to her, but he is certain his own solitude would feel less painful if he were alone with her.
