liushennnn in my attendant sy au (read right to left)
notes on this au:
sy transmigrates into a new body when sqq fights the system trying to force him out of his body. sqq is livid and decides to take sy as his retainer/secretary/assistant, forcing him to do most of the accounting & administrative work on qing jing peak and work for sqq for free while also helping sqq avoid his tragic fate by telling him spoilers and secrets about the world that sy remembers. sy has no golden core and no cultivation, and cant wield a spiritual sword or fight. sy has no documents, no money, and no prospects. sqq basically provides everything for him & can also take it away. sy moves into the other room in the bamboo house and cleans and organizes as well, although his own room is a mess. sqq never makes it clear what sy's position on the peak is, so all of the disciples follow his orders in fear of disobeying sqq. sy is basically 2nd to sqq, although he doesnt see it that way; he sees himself as sqq's overworked servant. he resents sqq for his control over sy's life, but he's terrified of being kicked out.
sqq takes sy to the peak lord meetings as well, using sy to carry documents, serve tea, and to give him information about anything that might be useful to sqq if it comes up during the meeting. sy also often acts as a messenger for sqq between peaks. he doesnt get much interaction outside of senior disciples and the other peak lords.
since sy's hands are usually full with documents, accounting books, talisman paper, & anything else sqq wants him to carry, sy can't use his fan to hide his face as much. instead he uses his hair & his glasses. his skin is sallow & he often misses meals from running around doing sqq's errands, so he always seems tired. clothes he wears are simple & loose, either slip on or buttoned up. he dislikes loud & bright patterns bc he doesn't want to stand out, but sometimes has no choice bc sqq buys his clothes. sqq will often make him wear more extravagant patterns, even when it makes sy nervous about attracting attention.
since sy seemed to appear out of nowhere to the other sect members, sy is very worried about acting too suspicious and getting kicked out. he copies sqq as much as possible to acclimate to the world and seem unphased & elegant.
sy is very interested in the other peak lords since he interacts with them often, especially liu qingge. liu qingge often catches him staring, but sy tries not to interact with anyone more than he has to. liu qingge usually sees him hiding behind sqq as a buffer. if sy does speak, he does it low & quiet, & if behind his fan if possible.
sy looks like his old body & has long black hair, similarly styled to sqq by his insistence. sy dislikes this.
sqq calls sy "a-yuan" bc sy doesnt like it. sy doesnt like telling people his name though bc it makes ppl think theyre related, which he also doesnt like, so he doesnt stop sqq from indroducing sy as "a-yuan". this makes it very difficult for other ppl to know what to call sy in fear of being too familiar
sy does meet sqh earlier in this au, and he helps him as much as he can get away with behind sqq's back. since sy is less bound by the system than sqh is, sqh sometimes "sponsors" sy to do things he himself cant do.
sy calls sqq the equivalent of "sir".

I liked how in Nosferatu it’s shown that Ellen not only leaves Thomas behind, lets him go, but she effectively remarries, by dressing up in wedding gown and pledging herself to Orlok and then consumating their sort of marriage. Orlok came before Thomas as Ellen’s dark suitor and Ellen ended up in the end with Orlok, not Thomas. Lilacs as running theme also support it because they are associated with Orlok so even when Ellen was marrying Thomas with lilacs on her head she was involving Orlok into her marriage.
Yes, the lilacs!.. God, the lilacs. She wore them throughout the film, on her dresses, in her hair, as a scent - they're such a prominent motif, and it's very clear that she was never able to let go of her occult nature entirely, despite her very best efforts to conform. The way Orlok reacts to the scent of them in the locket is so telling, too!.. It must've felt like a secret note, passed in code - my first love, I've never forgotten you. Come to me. The hesitation, the slight trembling in his hands as he holds it. The way he keeps it without question, the way he can't resist opening it just to catch the scent - again, again, again. There is something so vulnerable about their connection, on either side.
I think that's why their consummation is so tender sdksjgdjh

Discipline is not a lack of freedom, it is a harmonious relationship with time. Managing your schedule and daily habits well is a necessary component to free up the practical and creative capacity to make great art.

What is wrong with "A little Life"?
I haven't read it and I'm not trying to defend it, just curious.
From the plot summary it seems to be very intense and deals with a lot of fucked up things, but surely a book dealing with difficult topics isn't grounds to hate it.
the book itself is very...contentious to say the least. lots of debate amongst readers about whether or not it is good and if its overall message is an intentional attempt to make a reader feel absolutely hopeless or if it's just bad writing.
and it's not so much the difficult topics as it is the way the author handles them. which is to say she is relentlessly cruel to her characters and thus to her readers as well. there is a really intense sense of voyeurism throughout the novel where the reader is forced to watch these characters face endless abuse and trauma without any sense of resolution or reason. like, it just keeps coming and it keeps getting uglier to the point that you really have to ask yourself why you are reading it and putting yourself through such agonizing misery. there is no happiness for these characters. they are absolutely obliterated.
yanagihara (the author) has said that the story does intentionally grow more and more bleak over the course of its almost 800 pages, ending in a place of absolute darkness. the concept is definitely effective. i have never felt so miserable and gross as after i finished reading this novel.
despite all of that, the book isn't bad. i just found it to be an exercise in hopelessness, specifically in the lives of gay men which is neither here nor there. i'm not really concerned with 'straight woman writing about gay men' but more so the depiction of an ugly, hopeless world where no amount of love and support can help another person. which, hey, is potentially realistic but it really begs the question: what is the point of writing this except to make a reader viscerally upset? the point is not the story but the ugly feeling it leaves you with.
yanagihara evokes it very well and there's something to be said about 'is writing that seeks to make you feel like shit' still good writing. it is, in my opinion, but i don't find it at all worth it. i don't find the story vital or interesting and definitely not worth retelling on film. to turn this cruel, voyeuristic, ugly novel into a television show would, in my opinion, add nothing but further misery onto an already miserable world.

Human Extinction by a malicious minority. If we don’t speak out now, from our place of peaceful majority and unity with all life, the moment of opportunity for change will pass and be gone forever.
This court seems to believe the children are not the future. Another disgraceful decision that will give more momentum to the destruction of our planet and less means to those who would preserve it. Shortsighted imbeciles.

the Revered Spirit Ashes we find in the Bonny Village are the remains of Marika's first partner
she was just a simple, unimportant smith's apprentice but was revered by Marika, and her love and admiration alone was enough to create the Ashes that remained there for millennia

Finally got around drawing Aioros :D
#saint seiya#saint seiya fanart#los caballeros del zodiaco#sagittarius aiolos#I remember reading somewhere (either a post or some wiki page idk) how aioros is often revered as the perfect saint an almost divine figure#and I’m pretty sure aioros initially refutes being the next pope saying saga would be a better fit (it’s 4am so correct me if I’m wrong)#anyway I watched some of kotz for fun and saw that scene. he seemed rather upset at the news but a sense of distress I can’t really describ#even when keeping in mind that he was only 14 I don’t think it was the responsibility that comes with being a gold saint/pope successor#but more combining the first bit of being highly viewed. he seems like a rather humble guy who’s rather content with risking his life#or has at least excepted that fact. but when seem as more than a simple soldier it makes him uneasy. because he knows he’s not a god#yet is put in such position that when adding his sacrifice at an early age he’s practically legend. and despite the initial denial he will#always be obedient enough to accept the duty placed upon him. this is all to simply say I tried drawing him smiling but it didn’t look righ#so ye. (feel bad for just leaving the thought process to the sketch in the tags but it’s not my best wording so it stays down here)#a smol trivia nugget: I still don’t know how I want to draw aioros :p actually better trivia nugget: the pose/composition is from a photo m#they saw I had taken a photo but my angle was rather bland so they decided to absolutely blow me away with one heck of a photo#theres even nice lighting and everything. real glad I finally used the reference as reference :]

And for V it's like he loves his victims he loves what they represent he takes a big deep breath after the filming is over and thanks everyone involved. Life is art, right? Death is the canvas, the retrospective sum of human existence. The adoration V has for people and poetry in motion. The most important thing a person can do is die, because it puts everything into perspective! At the end of the day, it is NOT his victim's fault. He was always faster, and stronger, and more clever. They did the best that they could, and he respects them so much for that. Even while he thinks they're sort of silly at times (it's a fond exasperation, of course) he! Loves them all to bits.
