i’m always ok with your questions!! i love when people pick my brains about my characters,, knowing people are interested is my ultimate comfort fr :) sorry everybody this is going to be a looong post but we have a lot to cover!! i’m gonna split this into sections for readability 

sol’s boyf,,, junipero,, has his own post in the works trust me you’ll be meeting him very soon! he ALSO happens to be one of my all time fav ocs,, in fact i made him his own playlist just like sol! (linking it here as a little preview of his vibes before u see him!)

I’m a character designer & artist first and foremost BUT i love writing and am trying to branch out so full steam ahead!! pedal to floor it’s LORE TIME (did i write this in docs like a draft before posting it, yes i did, only the best quality ramblings for olorea!!)

what's the plot of the story ?

okay so because i’ve had this oc world since i was a kiddo there are several stories within the world in a set timeline,, and it’d take me a million years to go through it all in one post hhhh,,, i have to say though that creating characters and connecting all the proverbial dots is so so fun. atp every character has their own separate & unique story that i hope to draw and/or write in my own time

as a general rule, though for simplicity i measure the ‘main story’ based on bell & nightingale’s arcs since they’re the ‘main protagonists’. so when you hear me say ‘before the story’ what i really mean is ‘before gale or bell meets x character and ropes them into The Shenanigans’ 

i might revamp my toyhouse acc just so you all can have easy access to my characters and their lore!! 

I’m terrible at self categorisation but i’d say that this whole story is a sort of steampunky/high fantasy with some dystopia & political drama thrown in there, it honestly depends on whose story you’re reading haha 

is it based on any country, or usa-specific since you said cowboys ?

it actually isn’t based on any real country! i completely abandoned real world geography for this story for my own sake,, the world is pretty much split into factions with their own ecosystems! the map of the world is a whole different story,,, i’ll have to remake that soon… but yeah!! 

for the desert region i borrowed the lawlessness of the old west and the visual aesthetics of old westerns!! i take several artistic liberties, though, i make it a tad more whimsical

what are the fantasy elements, is there magic and/or creatures ?

in short yes!! this is a fantasy where a lot of characters have magic abilities of some kind! think of most of the magic-users like sorcerers in dnd! arcane abilities that they’re born with,, either that or they’re creatures of some kind/based on animals or cryptids (see agnis the vampire among others). most magic is,, organic? is that the word? it occurs naturally. most of it… 

the word "prowlers" is so evocative, what do they do in the desert ?

‘prowlers’ is the colloquial term for the outlaws and criminals of the desert!! pretty much any socially nonconforming or unlawful person is given that label whether they actually committed a crime or not,, and most wear it like a badge of honour tbh. upperclass folk tend to look down on prowlers unfortunately and they have the reputation of sinister people-not-to-be-messed-with. calling oneself a prowler both protects you and puts a target on your back. 

who is the rest of the found family ?

the family come from all over! a lot of the members of the corviday gang left their home nations to escape traumas back home and found comfort in an unconventional ‘criminal’ community with no expectations set upon them and no prying questions to be asked. comfort in the outskirts of society, if u will. here’s a list of them all in no particular order!

corvid:

the previous leader who passed away before the story (see? hehe, the story). sol takes on the role of de facto leader afer he’s gone. 

magpie:

corvid’s daughter, a young bard who finds inspiration in the world around her no matter how bleak

eden & polaris:

eden, a jack-of-all-trades author who writes under the pseudonym ‘evergreen’. he is so done with everybody else’s nonsense, and his sibling polaris! a mute ex guard who has a frosty and intense personality. 

quake:

eden & polaris’ kid brother, a young and scrappy aspiring inventor with unmatched wit and problem-solving skills

gaia & opal: 

gaia & her girlfriend opal are ex stage performers who fled stardom to support a friend of theirs who went on the run

aimi:

amelie, aimi for short, is a young ex pirate who deserted her crew for a life in the desert 

cobalt:

a career criminal from a family of miners, he claims to only stick with the gang for a laugh. 

akila: 

an ex training instructor from the capitol city’s military, akila uses her strategist mind to help keep the gang afloat. she keeps her distance, having dealt with loss before and not being eager to repeat the experience. 

wendy:

a motherly former innkeeper, wendy has an admirable knack for business and ability to sway people’s opinions. she could probably carry you bridal style effortlessly. yes, you.

blair:

a free spirited traveling painter with a surprising affinity for weapons. practically a professional pickpocket. 

i kept everybody’s descriptions short n sweet for this post because of the length but if anyone wants to know more about any of these guys please ask me abt it!! i’m happy to expand on any of em. there are other characters who orbit the gang, rival groups and of course some of them still have surviving family members… i’m expanding alllll of my lore :’)))

01. What does your character’s name mean? Did you pick it for the symbolism, or did you just like the way it sounded?

Man, answering these questions for me can either be boring as hell or a total callout. And in Eira's case it is most definitely the latter. This will be disjointed but what else is new with me, my muse roster comes from almost 20 years of writing broken up into different pieces with multiple revamps. So.

Eira Kestrova.

Both names were pulled out of my ass, and taken from completely different times of my writing hobby.... first was the family name. Kestrova.

It was pulled out of my ass just jumbling up a new character to write in the group I was in. It was used with my muse (who I don't write anymore) named Arnik. He was originally created, more or less, to be an antagonist character against Wylan. A shallow one. Black market weapon dealer with bad history blah blah blah- eventually revamped to still be a market dealer, but without the tie, different characterization, blatantly Russian in tone (because when I got older I was like "hey this name sounds kinda Russian yeah?) (ah to be a teen).

And then Eira. A name also pulled out of my ass because she was originally created to be a one-off NPC. One made for a drabble I wrote for a FE OC I wrote with a friend I met on my personal tumblr. Suffice to say after I wrote the drabble my friend really enjoyed her and she ended up being a recurring character in our RP. And then I took her here. And like my other muses mashed her history with other histories. Took Arnik's family name.

09. Do they have a favorite season? What about a favorite holiday?

Though he tolerates it, he's not the biggest fan of the rain. Some bitter memories and the like. As a result, though he loves the Spring, it would certainly be the latter parts when the rains have ended and the plants are all blooming. Mondstadt is a beautiful country and it shows best in Spring... and as a result...

It's tricky to pick a fav holiday since we keep learning of new ones because Diluc is difficult about showing enjoyment, I can tell you his least favorite day is his birthday since it coincides with The No Good Very Bad Day. Anyway!

I'd wager he really enjoys Windblume. It's a prosperous one where people share happiness and embrace more positive values. He may be single (the most eligible bachelor in the country) but it doesn't stop him from appreciating that this is a day that most of the people get to enjoy themselves. One of those I helped protect and help this happen moments as it were.

Also it's damn good for business, most holidays are honestly.

13. What are your character’s sleeping habits? Heavy or light sleeper? Blanket stealer? One that always rolls onto the floor? Pushes their lover onto the floor? Sleep talker or walker?

So long as he doesn't need to be sharing the bed Tenzou will have no difficulty passing out. Like many aspects of his life, he's gotten sleeping down to an art. Laying on his back and willing himself into a deep slumber. Note that he sleeps in night clothes, but the hat and scarf stay on. Those only come off when he is certain of being alone.

No, don't pull it off. Please. You can't.

He will wake quickly if disturbed, notably if blankets are taken away since he likes his comfy temperature underneath (he loves snuggling he just doesnt know it yet).

With a lover he's more nervous starting out. Granting a wide berth and just... look, he's a mess. You need to ease him into things. I'm sorry to say. But he would never push them out of bed.

So...I thought it’d take me a while to finish all these, but it turned out I had a very clear area for Rayna’s new look, and with Scarlet I really just adjusted details. Plus my flu actually started to ease up today so I had more energy to work on this.

It was fun to redesign and draw some of my fav girls since forever. Also Avara and Lumi have no surname as they don’t really use surnames. I do have plenty of other characters (girls included) that could do with a design revamp, but I’ll get to them someday. I have a list of ideas practically (fanart and non-fanart) that I want to do but I always struggle to choose what to focus on lmao. (not including my fics, those I can work on anytime as writing for me is muuuch faster than drawing and I rarely struggle to choose with what to write)

If you wanna learn more about each character I have some notes below:

Avara and Lumi are sisters, but not blood related; they also live in a large old abandoned palace ruins in snowy mountains that they repurposed as their home. 

Avara is Pan, Lumi is Demiromantic/sexual, Rayna and Scarlet are lesbians

Avara tends to prefer more masculine/butch/boyish types romantically speaking, and she’s far more likely to big sister/mother over more feminine or androgynous folk

Rayna’s preference is PETROCK (her nickname to her GF who’s a brought-to-life statue lady (technically a gargoyle as she has the wings and horns, my friend’s OC) overseeing their Kingdom’s library)

Scarlet tends to find people somewhat opposite of her the most attractive, meaning more quiet, mature and serious types (though they still need to have a sense of humor, even if its just dry)

Avara is single, Lumi is single as well and not really interested in a relationship, Rayna has a GF, and Scarlet is single

Avara is flirty and playful, Lumi is mostly serious and no-nonsense type, Rayna is down to earth and mischievous, and Scarlet is eccentric and confident

Lumi and Rayna sometimes spar for fun, though Lumi never admits she’s having fun and just states it’s logical for her to train with another strong warrior. (Rayna sees right through it but doesn’t call her out on it)

Scarlet’s brother Alexei is much quieter and down-to-earth than she is, but has the same mischievous sense of humor and relaxed attitude to life.

Avara’s wolves are roughly horse-sized and if they trust you, they’ll let you ride on their back. Orion and Lupus are male, Lyra is female

Kiro can change his size from an average eagle to being large enough for you to ride on his back

Rayna’s surname comes from the family who adopted her once she finally gained her human transformation to start her next life-cycle as a shape-shifting  white tigress. (originally she was just an animal spirit that guarded the family in question)

ok so after after our many conversations on how Jax really aint shit and after reading your first main character jax ficlet and in preperation of whats to come with my fav OC of yours. I gotta know... top 3 things you’d change about canon Jax that you would want to include in your fics that would still keep him “in character”.

Ooooooof girl you know I have many feelings about my guy Jackson lmao. And there was so much potential for him to not turn into the person that he turned into. But if we are staying in-character, here are the top 3 things I'd change (not necessarily in order of importance or anything lol) :

I'd make him be less of an absent father. Like, I know the whole thing was that "everything he was doing was actually for his kids" blah blah blah. And like. I get it. But realistically the man never really spent any time with his kids unless they were hurt or something. Someone else was always taking care of them. Whole episodes would go by and then they'd get brought back almost as an afterthought. Idk if I would have made him just be a better father (having a truly kid-centered arc would have been such an interesting change for the show), or just made him not have kids at all. Because realistically it's not really a kid-friendly lifestyle. But I'd be putting him in Dad Bootcamp lmao

I'd give the man basic communication skills. Instead of writing everything down in tiny little books with those little golf course pencils, bounce some fucking ideas off of people. Get some input from someone besides yourself. He had this constant thought that he was alone and had to figure everything out by himself but he had a whole club and family and wife there. Like. Lay the cards out on the table so everyone knows what you're actually working with maybe?? Idk. All the SOA boys need a crash-course in how to communicate effectively.

This is completely self-indulgent on my part but I would make this dude learn how to be a real friend. Like. Opie deserved a better best friend. Jax was very self-centered in all of his relationships (which I get he learned from the best: Gemma) but if he learned how to facilitate a genuine friendship things could be so different. And even if he wanted to look at it from a selfish perspective, having a real bond with someone is like an extra security blanket for you. I think that a little genuineness would have gone a long way with how the club functioned as a whole.

I don't hate Jax as a character. But I don't think he was a god or anything either. I think he's a dude with a lot of flaws, and that's exactly what made the show what it was. That being said, it would've been nice to see him break the cycle in a different way and just be a decent person who is truly looking out for the people around him and actually putting his family first rather than just saying that he is and then going and burning everything to the ground lol. Maybe that would look like him leaving the MC life, or maybe that would look like him revamping it from the ground up. Idk. But I think there were softer, happier, funnier sides to Jax that we really lost in the later seasons and I wish that we could've gotten more of it.

im sooo interested in this roleplay omg. gossip girl was my fav show. could you tell me which characters are taken?? it doesnt really show and the follow list most people have all the characters. is that updated?

I'm so glad to hear you say that! Have you seen the wee teaser for the HBO Gossip Girl? Are we all in it for Kristen's voice over? At the moment, I think our taken list is up to date. Since we're actually an established RP doing a revamp (phew, I think we're like...6 years old? I'd have to check!), I appreciate that many of the canon faves are taken at the moment. When everything's posted and we're closer to a re-opening date (woohoo!), hopefully all our lovely lists will be right up to date!

Off the top of my head, there are still a few lovely canon characters I would swoon over having here please! These include: Eric van der Woodsen, Hazel Williams, Kati Farkas, and Nelly Yuki.

There's also a few OC style family members of canon characters! The lovely Louise (Bass) Thomas, Gabriela and Elena Archibald, Crystal Abrams, more Vanderbilts...
