ppl will deny the possibility/likelihood of killua having a crush on gon when he literally acts like a stereotypical tsundere (which was a popular anime trope in the early 2000s/2010s, might i add 👀) whenever gon compliments him and acts like a stereotypical jealous crush whenever palm was involved, and esp when gon actually went out on the date w her. 💀

remember when he literally pushed that girl, retz, in that one hxh movie (hxh phantom rogue) bc he was so jealous that gon had made another friend….? yeah.

(i get and know that the movies aren’t canon, but still, i feel like multiple scenes from them are honestly canon, or at least likely to be/fairly in character.)

thank you random guy also posting on the hxh tag for reminding me about this bombshell realization i had while rewatching the phantom rogue recently.

and i will say this up front. it wasnt that bad when you consider the absolute shitshow that was the last mission. do i say that just because its extra troupe content + a troupe to kurta interaction we never got? mmmmmaybe....

but basically omokage makes his puppets off of memories of that person. somehow theyre able to completely retain their abilities even though theyre memories and even steal the eyes of other people. theres probably some other conditions but basically: he's fucking strong as hell.

but the point im after is: the puppets are made off of MEMORIES.

so what kind of fucked up perspective did omokage have. that made shalnark look like THAT.

the entire time we see shalnark in the phantom rogue he is furious. like i didnt see puppet shal smile once- and we know theyre capable of smiling bcs of retz and pairo because thats how they were remembered.

so why didnt omokage remember shalnark smiling

what did he DO????

did he piss shal off or something?? did he only remember that one time when shal got extremely serious? bro that is not my boy!!

anyway food for thought. omokage says shal is his favorite but only remembers him as this angry sonova bean.

As a hxh fan, what’s your thoughts on the movies?

I've seen 2, I haven't heard of more but maybe I've missed something. I don't consider them canon. But I'm not against them. They are both like fanfiction.

Last Mission is very meh.

it's the kind of canon divergence fanfic where the writer really didn't get the original. Like you watch it and you think: this misses the point so hard.

It's also an ensemble, it tries to squeeze in as many characters as possible, even if just for cameos... it feels like Marvel movie in that sense.

Phantom Rouge is fun.

It's like this good quality canon divergence fanfic. It reinforces what already is in canon, Gon and Killua's relationship is even more baby gay in it than in canon.

Omokage and Retz feel like characters Togashi could've come up with, their story doesn't feel completely out of place, like Last Mission's plot does.

There is a bit of the ensemble feeling, but it's not as forced as in Last Mission.

And I said I don't think they're canon... Retz is canon, you can pry her out of my cold dead hands.

very random, but my friend @vmprchn and i read this hxh fic AGES AGO on wattpad when we were kids, and it most definitely got deleted (we can’t find it anywhere :( ), but i need to know if anyone else read this fic, because we want to reread it soooo bad, but of course can’t.

setting the scene: it was a killugon high school musical au i’m pretty sure? the biggest thing about it was that it had a very random self insert character that younger megan was very prepared to hate, and i remember liking her lol. i think she rode around on a cloud, and dated zushi. i remember specifically a scene of everyone bullying retz for being a capricorn, and that gon sang like brendon urie, killua like “a male version of melanie martinez” and i think retz like ariana grande. there was also a gag about kurapika beating up chrollo and getting sent to detention.

it was most definitely a mess, and in hindsight totally something of that era. but just know fetus meg ate that shit UP. and vamp and i love rereading fanfics on calls with silly voices, and we would absolutely love to find it again. 😭 i also need to know if anyone else remembers this fever dream of a fic, or if it’s just really niche.

anyways i hope the author knows we think about this fic like 24/7 and i would love to see it again 🙏 i doubt anyone has like a google doc or pdf saved. but if you do i’ll like give you a free art commission or something (within reason) lol.

HxH x Monster High AU

What if HxH was set in a highschool AU? But not just any highschool… Set in Monster High! I grew up with this show as one of my childhood favourites and it’s gives me immense nostalgia (I still listen to the theme song because it’s still so catchy).

Who would be who in this AU? Or rather which monsters would the Hunter x Hunter characters take on?

Killua would for sure be a Vampire but what about Gon? Maybe a werewolf? Because he can act like such a cute innocent puppy but can be intimidating and frightfully strong and aggressive when necessary *cough* Chimera Ant Arc *cough*

Comment down who you’d think the characters would be?

Leorio, Kurapika, Gon, Alluka, Nanika (Should she be in it as a separate person or with Alluka?), Retz (maybe), Zoldyck Family, Bisky, Wing, Zushi, Hisoka.

Who knows? If I like what I write and actually come up with a decent plot I may finish the story in time to post for next halloween!
