Crabs this is Noa you need to help me I'm in love with your restaurant AU I need more I love food and you combined it with the dca I can't I ca
Uhh what's in the menu? :D
HEHE ME TOO NOA!!
legit every meal i have is inspiration for this AU 😂
as for the menu, welllll most of it is based on Hong Kong style cafe foods (because that's what inspired me at first), but the specials change regularly and go into many different cuisines.
the boys also specialize in different things too:
Sun specializes in healthy, nutritious meals. he’s also the most interested in learning all about food, from farms to cooking methods. if you ask him to surprise you, he’ll discretely scan you and determine what your body needs and will cook something accordingly.
You are surprised as a bowl of soup appears in front of you, held by a gold hand. You follow that hand to it’s owner—meeting Sun’s blank eyes staring down at you.
“I… didn’t order a soup,” you stutter.
“You appear to be low in iron today,” Sun responds in his monotone voice before turning away, then adding, “There is more if you need it. It's on the house.”
Without a further word, Sun returns to the kitchen.
The smell of the soup wafts to your nose and you decide to dig in. It’s a fairly clear broth yet surprisingly flavourful—the kind of soup that takes more than a day to properly steep and simmer to extract all the flavours from it’s ingredients. Despite that, the soup was clear of any dregs at the bottom—just the way you like it.
You feel your face warm—from the soup or from the attention, you’re not entirely sure.
You might take his offer for seconds.
Moon specializes in everything indulgent! juicy fried chicken? the cutest pastries? he loves them all and he’s always experimenting with new recipes. sure he recognizes the importance of a healthy meal, but sometimes you just need a boost, yknow? food is more than fuel, it can be something to be enjoyed.
When you stepped into the restaurant that morning, Moon could already tell you were off to a rough start. He watched from the kitchen window as you ate your breakfast, staring dryly at your phone.
And then he had an idea. Ooooohoohoohoo, clever Moon!
“Gooooood morning, starlight,” Moon walks over to your seat at the bar table. “How’s your breakfast? Would you like some dessert with it?”
You groggily look up from your phone, and nod, barely registering what he said. Then before you know it, Moon is gone and back again with a warm plate of french toast.
Moon wasn’t kidding when he said dessert—the toast is thick enough to be a cake! When you cut off a manageable bite, you realize it’s actually two slices of toast, sandwiching a gooey filling.
You take a bite and you’re surprised by how delicate and rich it is. The toast melts in your mouth and leaves behind the aroma of butter and eggs and the delightfully chilled sweetness of condensed milk coats your tongue.
Your expression must betray your reaction, because you see Moon smiling back at you so sweetly.
Eclipse is the main front of house, waiting tables and charming customers. and he’s also the barista, preparing a variety of drinks (and sometimes putting on a bit of a show while doing so). he can cook as well, but he leaves it mostly to Sun and Moon.
You have no idea how you got here. You decided to stop by the restaurant, only you forgot that today was their day off. However, you’ve learned that the chefs live in the apartment above the restaurant, which explains why Eclipse found you and let you in.
Now you were seated at the empty bar table, while the charming barista prepared you a drink.
“Here we are,” Eclipse gently places a glass in front of you.
Based on the colour, the ice, and the straw, you take a guess, “Iced coffee?”
“Half correct,” Eclipse chuckles and pours himself a glass as well. “It’s one of my old boss’s favourites. It’s called ‘yuenyeung’, a mixture of milk tea and coffee.”
“Oh, so ‘yuenyeung’,” you grimace at your butchered pronunciation, “means ‘tea-coffee’, I guess?”
Eclipse smiles. For the short while you’ve known him, you have learned you do not trust that smile. “No, ‘yuenyeung’ refers to a pair of mandarin ducks that look very different, male and female. They’re a symbol of conjugal love—a pair of two different elements coming together as one.”
You freeze as Eclipse chuckles and clinks your glass with his. “It’s more fragrant when it’s served warm, but it’s too hot for that today. I’ll save that treat for a day you need the warmth.”
He’s right. It is too hot for this today. You take your glass and sip on the straw, Even chilled, the aroma of black tea, coffee, and smooth milk is strong on your tongue.
Even after downing your entire glass, you still feel too hot.

The Back Room
contains: voyeurism in a public setting, degradation/humiliation (of the FA, not the fattie) fluids, Feeder/feedee, gender unspecified, 2nd person/reader insert if ya want
You are just an innocent bystander. This is not your fault.
It's Friday. You're out to dinner with a good friend at the fancy all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet in town.
Your buddy just put in their two weeks notice and you two you are celebrating in indulgent fashion. The plan is well underway when you can't help but notice a couple walk into the restaurant.
Well, one of them walks in. The other waddles.
The skinnier of them is about 5’8” or so. They appear somewhat haggard but strong, a works-with-their-hands type. Their companion is easily twice their weight and significantly shorter, a fluffy, soft marshmallow. They are wearing bike shorts that are catastrophically too tight, causing a hill of insistent chub to crest the waistband. The fabric of their shorts has been stretched so far as to become translucent. Silky arm fat bursts out of the strained crease of their crop top's armpit and side boob is dripping out of the bottom of it. Chunky calves threaten to envelop their proportionately delicate ankles and feet.
These two have to be a Feeder and feedee, they just have to be. You silently pray that they are because you're not at all sure you can stop trying to get a look, even if they're not.
The Feeder greets the beaming Host warmly and it is immediately clear that all three know each other well. The two of them must be regulars. You watch with mounting arousal as the Host and Feeder carefully lead the slow-moving feedee along the path of least resistance through the dining room. It takes a quick eternity for them to cross it gracelessly, through the tittering and disdain of fellow diners, unconcerned.
All the while, you're trying hard not to obviously, hungrily devour the stolen glimpses of swaying soft you catch out of the side of your eye while badly pretending to be listening to your friend. You're appalled by how sweaty and riled you are, how fast you were gripped with monstrous lust, all hunched and tense over half finished crab legs (or whatever you would eat. I would be eating crab legs). They disappear into the back room, usually reserved for parties.
You are by now having serious trouble hiding your predicament. You haven't even been pretending to pay attention for the last minute.
"Hello?! Anyone home?" your friend snaps their fingers in your face.
You laugh a little too quickly and make appropriate eye contact with them, flushed. You apologize sheepishly. You just got caught… off guard, you say. Momentarily. Sorry. "I bet, you fucking perv" they laugh at you pityingly, but not entirely unkindly. They know you have a type and that type is legendary. They know it's just so difficult for you to be painfully hard under the table pretending not to watch an enormous person struggle to walk 150 feet across an all-you-can-eat buffet. A horny mess like you can’t really be expected to listen to them talk about whatever shit Danielle in Accounting did last week. You couldn’t possibly stop imagining that stranger’s upper arm in your teeth for 20 seconds and let them finish a thought. You have never been able to be an appropriate amount of horny, how could they expect anything else from you. You eat your food in shameful, steaming silence.
Though the feedee remains behind closed doors out of your sight, you see their Feeder get up to start fixing plate (s) for them. By the time they return to the back room they're carrying 4 plates, balancing them expertly in fine dining style. The plates are laden with various treats which you definitely were not watching them lovingly select.
One plate is all fried: crispy egg rolls, spring rolls, crab rangoon, chicken wings, juicy fried pork and chive dumplings, scallion pancakes, the works. Various sauces.
The second plate is heaped with sticky sweet bbq ribs, sweet and sour chicken, a mountain of white rice, and a landslide of mixed veggies with a ton of extra baby corn and snow peas. Their feedee clearly has good taste.
Still another plate is all seafood: the aforementioned buttery snow crab legs, shrimp, steaming mussels, spiny little rock lobsters, clams… more shrimp, but tempura this time.
The last one isn't really a plate, its a bowl. The bowl is filled with vanilla soft serve (of course) and fresh fruit. Just for good measure, there's also two shiny, glazed roast pork buns balanced precariously on top. You bet a little bit of vanilla ice cream getting on a sweet, doughy pork bun is good as hell. No, you can’t be horny and hungry. You are already full and still have food. You are considering trying it though. Not to try to get a look, of course not, but just to get some dessert.
While you are deliberating and “talking” to your friend, you spy a busboy running towards the back room holding an extra-wide, high weight capacity folding chair. It's clear that this hefty cutie isn't their most comfortable on even the armless chairs that are as used to accommodating heavy people as any chair at a buffet should be. They still need something wider.
You’re dying in here. You need to wash your face and think of the least sexy things you can imagine: hairless plastic abs, taxes, etc. You excuse yourself to use the restroom and ask your friend if they want anything from the buffet on your way back.
“I want you to make sure you wash your filthy hands when you’re done, you useless degenerate” they snap. “C’mon, man, Jesus Christ—” you look around as you get up to see if anyone heard your friend, who has since lost all patience and good humor towards you and your inability to get it together.
You get up from the table and it’s as bad as you feared. You’re so aroused, not to mention full of crab legs, and just need to cool down long enough to make it home. Or at least to the car after you drop your friend off.
Your underwear is tight and rubbing your poor swollen dick. You’re so overstimulated that each step towards the bathroom is somewhat labored. Thankfully, labored movements toward the bathroom are not uncommon here so you fly under the radar for the most part.
You almost reach the bathroom door when out of the corner of your eye you realize that you suddenly can see them through the glass doors of the back room as you pass.
The Feeder is indeed lovingly in the midst of hand-feeding the feedee an egg roll dripping with sweet duck sauce. They have one hand under their feedee’s belly, which is pulled out of their shorts, nude and sumptuous under the long banquet table. It hangs heavy between their knees when fully unfurled with two massive lobes comprising the bottom of the apron and a pronounced dip in the center; 3 shaped.
You accidentally make eye contact with the feedee briefly, as you turn to enter the bathroom, sweaty and collapsing from fevered arousal. They just slowly lick their lips, staring into your very being, hungrily, menacing, devouring you with their eyes, daring you to keep looking.
You almost make it to the stall, but unfortunately for you,
You bust in your underwear, untouched, and now facing the long walk back to the table, wetly covered in yourself.
Worth it.

Beach Headcanons!
✦ A/N: Huahhhh this one took me forever skkddkkdkd anyways I hope you enjoy, I spent a lot of time on this! Sorry if some characters don’t have as much content as others
✦ Contents: no reader pronouns mentioned, very very small mention of alcohol in Kaeya’s part, fluff, modern au, ~2.1k words
✦ Includes: Kaeya, Tartaglia, Wriothesley, Itto
✦ Kaeya:
when you brought up going to the beach he said yes pretty quickly
brings sunhats for the both of you so you don’t burn!
matching swimsuits/outfits
you both decide to have a beachside picnic
for the food think something along the lines of charcuterie boards, crustless sandwiches, fresh juicy fruits, etc.
the picnic food is super elegant and classy
he sneaks a bottle of wine in there for himself
Kaeya takes lots of pictures of the two of you when you get there
mainly selfies of both of you in it
likes to snap pictures of you on your own too though
especially when he finds an angle where you look SO ABSOLUTELY STUNNING AND ANGELIC and don’t say you aren’t bc he will be so devastated if you don’t view yourself the way he sees you
is actually such a good photographer
also the type to happily help you apply sunscreen on your back if you ask
anyways back to the picnic!
lunch is super chill, mostly just you guys eating and talking about whatever
you notice the alcohol he snuck in with him but decide to let it go for today
at the end though he wraps his arm around you and you rest your head on his shoulder while you two appreciate the afternoon ocean view
you guys are busy cleaning up the picnic when he looks over at you and compliments how nice you look for no reason
he means it tho ugh it’s so sweet my HEART
the both of you finally walk down to the water while holding hands
you and Kaeya stay in the shallow end of the water, mainly splashing each other playfully and looking in tidepools!
seems like the type to get pinched by a crab
will gladly swim if you want though
you guys stay until the evening and decide to get dinner from a nearby restaurant
he’ll hold your hand from across the table and give you the cutest smile
on the drive home he’ll have one hand on the wheel and the other on the armrest between your seats
you put your hand next to his and hold it
loves it when you do that
has a faint blush on his cheeks and smiles so giddily for the rest of the ride home it’s so cute
doesn’t say too much if he’s tired, but hums to whatever song is playing
looks at you, smirks, and goes
“I had a great time today. We should do this again soon. … Did I mention how pretty your eyes are?” that’s like the fifth time today he’s mentioned it
✦ Tartaglia:
on the way there he blasts both of your favorite songs in the car with the windows rolled down
wears sunglasses, an unbuttoned hawaiian beach shirt, swim trunks, and flip flops
100% brings water guns
when you first arrive you set up your spot
he stakes the umbrella down while you lay out the towels and cooler containing some drinks and your lunches
as soon as you're both done he throws his shirt and flip flops off and full on sprints to the water without warning
you run after him since you want to join him too!
once you get close enough to him he tackles you and you both fall in the water laughing
starts a splash fight with you
if you’re swimming together he’ll race you to see who can get back to the shore the fastest
also brings his surfboard!
goes on his own a few times but lets you ride with him too if you didn’t bring a board
and if you’re completely new to all this he’ll be super gentle so you don’t get scared
maybe you’ll both just sit on the board and float in the water or ride a baby wave
by the time you’re done with that it’s time for lunch!
nothing fancy, just some sandwiches in plastic bags that you packed
Tartaglia thinks it still tastes great though and appreciates that you made them!
you’re both eating and talking under the shade of your umbrella when some little kid comes up to you for no reason and says you look really nice and cool
both of your hearts melt
Tartaglia pulls you close and gives you a peck on the cheek and agrees
will play volleyball or have a water gun battle with you to see who’s better it’s just a friendly competition right? right???
you two are running up and down the beach screaming and spraying each other with the water guns while onlookers stare at you and chuckle as you pass by
volleyball gets super competitive
its just you two taking up a whole court and hitting the ball back and forth as hard as you absolutely can
you’re soooo close to winning..!
but he beats you
it’s okay it’s all for fun he’ll pat you on the head and smirk if you’re salty about it lol
the sun is setting but he still wants to do a little bit more
bike rides together along the beach!
casual chatter while you two enjoy the view
you ride until you guys encounter a little ice cream cart
he buys you your favorite flavor!
Tartaglia gets rocky road, cookie dough, or cookies and cream
has a really hard time deciding and takes forever
will happily share with you if you want some! takes a bite of yours when you aren’t looking
you two leave when you’re both ready
the drive home is mainly him chattering away and you in the passenger seat trying to not fall asleep after such an exhausting but fun! day how does he always have so much energy???
occasionally waves his hand in front of your face to see if you’re still awake
“Hey that reminds me, earlier I saw a— wait, hey! C’mon, don’t fall asleep yet! I still have so much to talk about!”
✦ Wriothesley:
prefers to go in the evening
less sun and less people and also the time he gets off of work on an early day
his mood improves so much and he lights up when he sees you after work
after a lot of persuasion you manage to convince him to wear a floral tropical print shirt that matches your clothes!
he keeps it buttoned up for now though
you also notice one of Sigewinne’s shark stickers on the collar of Wriothesley’s shirt how did that get there??
you find it cute so you don’t say anything about it
its close to dinnertime when you arrive so he takes you to a local, slightly formal restaurant that’s super close to the beach!
now you see why he didn’t want to wear that shirt
both of you feel just a tad bit out of place in your more casual beach attire but you don’t really care
besides, why should other people’s opinions stop you from having a good time?
while you’re waiting for your food the two of you will talk about how your day/week has been and anything else you can think of to bring up
will happily listen to you if you ramble
finds it so refreshing to hear your voice
purchases an iced tea with his meal bc he’s Wriothesley
the food is great! and at the end you both share a dessert like a little cake or ice cream
you guys leave and start walking side by side towards the beach
he’ll give you piggyback rides or let you sit on his shoulders if you ask! will be able to carry you, 100%, no problem AAAAHHAHA THE THOUGHT IS MAKING MY HEART EXPLODE
if he’s giving you a piggyback ride he loves when you rest your head on his shoulder, it makes his heart flutter when he feels your breath on his neck
if you’re sitting on his shoulders his favorite thing is when you run your fingers through his hair or give him a little head massage!
you two pass by a boba store while you’re walking and he’ll buy something for you if you want it! he’ll get something for himself too
if he doesn’t know what to get then he’ll buy the same thing you’re getting! he trusts your judgement :)
you guys finally get to the ocean and take a walk along the shore together
the sun is setting and the colors are reflecting off the waves and it’s soooo pretty
the two of you hold hands and point out strange little shells that wash up on the beach as the waves tickle your feet
you reach a pier and decide to continue walking there
at this point it’s almost all dark and the moon and stars are starting to peek out
you reach the end of the pier and lean on the railing with Wriothesley right next to you
you’re admiring the reflection of the stars on the water with him when all of a sudden you hear a loud BANG! and a flash of light
you both look up and realize that they’re doing a firework show tonight! wow what a coincidence yk im so shocked
you scoot closer to him and lean your head on his arm/shoulder while he wraps one arm around your waist
you think he whispers something about the fireworks and your beauty but you can’t really hear it
gives you a smooch on the top of your head once it’s over!
finally finds Sigewinne’s sticker on his shirt at the end of the night when you get home and he’s taking his clothes off and changing into pajamas
“…You’re saying this was on here the whole time and you didn’t tell me?”
✦ Itto:
he finally manages to shake Kuki off his back so he decides to take you to the beach! even though it’s the fact that you’re going with him that makes her comfortable enough to let him go
forgets most of the supplies so you’re the one packing snacks, drinks, towels, etc.
one thing he doesn’t forget is the toys!
brings water blasters, volleyballs, floaties, buckets and shovels that are meant for little kids, etc.
wears swim trunks, sandals, and sunglasses for dramatic effect and that’s it
wants to do anything and everything with you!
first thing he sees is some kids building a sand castle and wants to do the same with you
no matter how much effort the two of you put in you can’t seem to get it to look nice
Itto still likes it though and puts a little leaf at the top for a flag ugh so precious
he takes a picture of it for memories and you guys walk away from it some kid probably tramples it like five minutes later
digs a little trench for water from the ocean to flow into! doesn’t mean any harm by it just wants to satisfy his inner child
doesn’t realize it might turn into one of those giant rivers in like a month
will have a water gun fight with you in the water while you’re swimming!
not really sure how that’s supposed to work smoothly but that’s his attempt at killing two birds with one stone
will also blow up a giant floatie with his own breath and almost pass out and forget about it/not even use it
also wants to play volleyball with you
since it’s just you two he invites some kids that he met a few minutes ago over to play on teams with you!
prefers to be on a team with you
you find it cute when he pouts after the other team absolutely demolishes you
if/when your team finally wins he’ll give you a giant bear hug!
all those kids probably get nicknames lol
when you guys are hungry you don’t really sit down for a proper meal since you’re having so much fun playing, and instead just munch on chips, fruit, granola bars, etc.
if you’re craving something else though you guys will get something like nachos from a food cart across the street from the beach
also gives you piggyback rides but likes to run around instead of walking
always blushes a bit when you put your arms around his neck and your hands rest on his chest
you guys stay until nighttime!
you set up a campfire together and bust out the marshmallows and graham crackers and chocolate!
the smores are super tasty but he probably scorches half of the marshmallows or unintentionally sets them on fire good thing the ocean is right next to you
shares his best marshmallows with you!
(be prepared to be the one driving home later since he’s going to be knocked out from being so active and energetic all day! when he’s tired he has really cute little snores that slowly evolve into some kind of monster roar snore)
Itto tells his scary stories with a flashlight shining up at his face for dramatic effect
“Now prepare for the One and Oni Arataki Itto to blow you away with this electrifying horror story!!! … AUAAHHOWW-! What was that?!” some crab probably pinched him
✦ A/N: Had a lot of fun writing these! Might do a part two if people are interested/request it!

Every summer, people flock to Maryland to eat blue crabs. Named for their brilliant sapphire-colored claws, blue crab is one of the most iconic species in the Chesapeake Bay. The scientific name for blue crabs, Callinectes sapidus, means “beautiful savory swimmer.” In restaurants and at home, diners pile steamed and seasoned blue crabs in the middle of a table covered in paper. Then, using small mallets, knives, bare hands and fingers, they break open the hard shells and extract the juicy meat from inside. It is a messy experience, especially with Old Bay seasoning and beer known locally as Natty Bohs, one that is quintessentially Maryland. Though many people know firsthand how difficult it is to pick and clean crab meat, they often don’t realize how crab is processed when it is sold in stores already picked and cleaned. Most people also may not know that crab picking is a livelihood for many, mainly poor, women. For generations, African American women from Maryland’s rural, maritime communities labored for crab houses on the Eastern Shore. Today, fewer than 10 crab houses are left on the Shore. The workforce consists of mainly female migrant workers from Mexico who do the grueling job of picking crab for eight to nine hours a day, from late spring to early fall. They make on average of US$2.50 to $4.00 for every pound of crabmeat they pick. That pay is roughly one-tenth to one-twelfth of the wholesale price of one pound – or about a half of a kilogram – of the seafood they pick, which is $35 to $44. In comparison, the Maryland minimum wage is $13.25 an hour, while the federal minimum wage is $7.25.

Hi, tell me about an OC of yours. What's their favourite fruit, piece of clothing, do they prefer tea or coffee, which colour crayon would they bet would taste the best if they had to eat one, what would they order in a relatively fancy restaurant, and which soda is their go-to? Also, do they believe white chocolate counts as a chocolate?
?? Hello mysterious stranger??
I feel like so much of this stuff is lore depended I feel bad answering with no context ;0;
So Nima (elf) + some bonus Isaac:
Favourite fruit: Oranges probably, something juicy. She likes most fruits, it's probably one of the only foods she has active interest in. I feel like she'd also probably like a lot of novelty fruit like pomegranate considering her time in elven court
Coffee or Tea: She'd probably like coffee more than tea, but both are quite a luxury item she doesn't get enough of to form an opinion on
Crayon: If it were a life or death scenario she'd eat the white one because of the lack of dyes. Isaac, on the other hand, would sample each crayon colour to decide which tastes the best first
Restaurant: Special occasion! She'd probably order something she's at least somewhat familiar with. She has like, a set of safe foods she just cycles through lmao, being adventurous in the kitchen is Isaac's job.
Soda: Soda doesn't exist ;0; In a modern setting she'd like ginger ale though
Chocolate: Again, luxury item + Not food savvy enough to really care. This sounds like something the two of them would argue about lmaoo. Nima states that chocolate is literally in the name, and Isaac responds with a 5 hour rants how "just because it's in the name doesn't make it REAL chocolate. It's like how horseshoe crabs aren't actual crabs Nima-"

Teppanya Launches Super Premium Unlimited Madness Menu at Its Newest Branch in Mall of Asia
Our favorite Teppanyaki restaurant has just opened a bigger and better branch at the SM Mall of Asia and it promises to deliver a spectacular dining experience for all its guests. Teppanya has been an enjoyable indulgence for us ever since we first discovered its unlimited teppanyaki promotion at SM North EDSA a couple of years ago (Read: Teppanya Launches 5th Anniversary Unlimited Madness Promo). We kept going back to Teppanya even during the pandemic years so we were happy to find out that they recently opened a new branch with a new premium VIP menu that will beat even five-star hotels in the city.
The newest branch of Teppanya is located at Seaside By The Bay in SM Mall of Asia, just in front of the MOA concert grounds. This is actually a more accessible location since you can just park your car in front of the restaurant or at the open parking lot right across. It is also their first branch that is not directly inside a mall so you can expect to find a bigger and grander venue when you visit.
Similar to their other branches, the MOA outlet features all teppanyaki tables so each guest can get the full Teppanya experience up close. This location is much more spacious as it comes with 14 teppanyaki tables all custom-made for your dining pleasure. Teppanya MOA can accommodate over 200 diners but they still get long lines especially during weekends and holidays.
They also have several private dining rooms which can accommodate up to 12 guests, each with its own dedicated teppanyaki table and chef. These can be booked with a minimum consumable amount of P20,000.
Teppanya has an a la carte menu serving premium Japanese dishes including sushi, tempura, tonkatsu and more, but what really made them famous is their Unlimited Madness promotion. Starting at P1988+ per person, you can eat all the teppanyaki and Japanese items that you want. This is available daily for lunch from 11:00am to 3:00pm and for dinner from 4:00pm to 12:00mn.
But for today, The Hungry Kat was invited for a special preview of their new Super Premium Unlimited Madness menu which will come with all their usual teppanyaki dishes plus unlimited servings of A5 Wagyu, Alaskan Snow Crabs, Foie Gras aburi sushi, premium Iberico Pork, and more!
We were seated at one of their private dining rooms with a magnificent view of the bay. This is also a connecting private room so you can combine it with the other room for those big parties and gatherings.
Dining at Teppanya always starts with a fiery exhibition from the talented teppanyaki chefs. The interactive dining experience is what makes this unique from other eat-all-you-can buffets.
While the chef was busy setting up the table, we were given a few starters which included this magnificent Otoro Sashimi. The otoro comes from inside the tuna's belly and is the most desirable and most expensive part of the fish. The sashimi is so fatty that it almost melts in your mouth.
The chef then prepared his first dish, the Wagyu Usuyaki Roll which is an upgraded version of the Usuyaki Beef Roll served on the regular menu.
The Wagyu Usuyaki Roll is cooked and assembled right on the grill. This meaty roll comes with mushroom and veggies that is placed inside a savory wagyu beef. It is then topped with garlic chips and doused in their secret sauce. This is a very delicious and filling appetizer.
Next is the Wagyu Aburi and Wagyu Aburi with Ikura or salmon caviar. This bite-sized wagyu sushi comes with tender slices of wagyu lightly torched to bring out more of its umami flavors.
The Hokkaido Giant Scallop is a huge piece of scallop which came all the way from the waters of Hokkaido island in Japan. These plump and juicy scallops are cooked on the teppanyaki grill then served back on their half shells.
Another premium seafood item is the Wild Alaskan Snow Crab. Its sweet and tender crab meat is really good which also makes it quite expensive. That's why it's very seldom to find these exquisite items at an all-you-can eat menu.
Here's a very luxurious sushi trio called the Emperor Aburi Set. It comes with Wagyu with Black Truffle, Foie Gras, and Unagi sushi. The foie gras is topped with gold flakes while the wagyu itself comes with a slice of truffle. You really can't get a more premium sushi lineup than this.
The chef continues to demostrate his acrobatic skills using the egg while preparing our Chahan Mixed Fried Rice. Expect to see these entertaining performances from the teppanyaki chefs throughout your meal which the kids and adults alike will surely love.
The chahan is a mixed fried rice cooked with beef, chicken, and shrimps. You can also opt for the Seafood Chahan which has scallops and shrimp instead.
The highlight of the new super premium Unlimited Madness menu are the wagyu steaks. Let's start with the Australian Darling Downs Wagyu MB5 Picanha which really looks good even before it is cooked. The picanha is a tender and juicy cut of beef taken from the top of the rump.
The teppanyaki chef works his magic and grills the wagyu steak delicately. You can really taste the difference of the texture and flavor with each bite.
Another premium meat served to us was the Iberico Secreto Steak which is often called the wagyu of pork. This very tender and flavorful pork comes from a thin cut of meat hidden behind the shoulder blade of an Iberico pig. It tastes just as heavenly as the wagyu beef!
The Australian Duck Breast Fillet was another standout dish. I do love eating roasted duck but this is another outstanding way of presenting this meat.
We all like to eat sandwiches but the A5 Wagyu Sando is truly a cut above the rest. This beef sandwich comes with A5 grade wagyu and is topped with gold flakes.
They saved the best wagyu for last with the Japan Miyazaki Wagyu A5 Chuck-Eye Steak and the Japan Miyazaki Wagyu A5 Chuck Strip Steak.
We were truly in wagyu heaven with these two high-grade items with a Beef Marbling Score of 8-9 signifying wagyu of the highest quality. We were already quite full but we couldn't resist having more of these luxurious wagyu.
To end our special tasting menu, we had a cold ice cream dessert that was cooked on the teppanyaki grill! The Banana Flambé comes with caramelized banana strips grilled on the teppan table and then topped with vanilla ice cream. This was then flambéed and drizzled with chocolate syrup and tempura bits for the most indulgent teppanyaki dessert ever.
The new Super Premium Unlimited Madness Menu will be available soon for P4988+ per person at Teppanya Mall of Asia and its other branches. We would like to thank the owners of Teppanya especially Mr. and Mrs. Pineda for hosting our small media group. Teppanya Mall of Asia is an exciting new dining destination that will definitely impress families, kids, esteemed guests, and everyone else that will experience its fiery offerings. I'm already eagerly waiting for the opening of their next branch at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall later this year.

12 Unforgettable Foods to Sample in Alabama Restaurants
Choosing the right place to eat can often mean pulling out your phone to search for popular spots in the area, not to mention figuring out what to order. For food lovers, Alabama's culinary scene is like a treasure chest waiting to be discovered! Deciding what to try first can feel overwhelming, especially when you're looking to experience the true essence of Southern cooking. To help you out, here are 12 unforgettable dishes you must try at Alabama restaurants!
1. Alabama White BBQ Sauce
Most other parts of the country use BBQ with tomato-based sauces, but the home state of Alabama bases its signature style on a different kind of white sauce with mayonnaise, vinegar, and spices. This tangy and creamy sauce is usually served over smoked chicken, though it goes flawlessly well with other meat dishes. And although you can find it in patches across BBQ joints around the state, Big Bob Gibson's BBQ in Decatur fits the bill for its flavor.
2. Fried Green Tomatoes
Another Southern classic that you can't miss is fried green tomatoes. This is a staple in several restaurants in Alabama and is usually served as an appetizer or side order. It begins with unripe tart tomatoes coated in a seasoned cornmeal batter and then fried in oil. This creates a crunchy but golden outer layer that is soft and tangy inside. Try them at The Irondale Caféfor a truly authentic taste. This iconic spot, located just outside Birmingham, is said to have invented the dish!
3. Gulf Coast Shrimp
One wouldn't do themselves justice if they left the Gulf Coast without trying one local favorite: shrimp. Sweet and tender, these daily catches are cooked in every fashion imaginable, like boiled, fried, grilled, or spicy shrimp boil. They consistently taste fresh and delicious, no matter how they are prepared. A great place to try this local delicacy is Lucy Buffett's Lulu's Restaurant in Gulf Shores, where the shrimp is served in various dishes, including shrimp po'boys and shrimp and grits.
4. Seafood Gumbo
Gumbo is a Louisiana classic with a thick, savory broth with bold flavors, seafood, vegetables, and rice. Alabama's coastal cities put their twist on it, and restaurants add their own toppings. Usually, it’s loaded with shrimp, crab, oysters, and sometimes fish. It’s perfectly seasoned and smoky. The locals’ choice for the best-rich flavorful bowl is Wintzell’s Oyster House in Mobile.
5. Fried Catfish
Fried catfish is an Alabama staple at any Alabama restaurant. Hushpuppies and coleslaw usually accompany its tender, flaky flesh. Cornmeal is often used to season the batter. It provides that crunchy texture and flavorful coating. You will get a fantastic plate at the Original Oyster House in Gulf Shores: crispy, juicy, and delicious.
6. Hot Chicken
Any of Alabama's hot chicken joints will not have any of its spice-looking customers disappointed. A variation of Nashville's hot chicken, Alabama's very own means your plate is layered with crispy fried chicken covered with a spice seasoning mix. Cayenne pepper and paprika, among others, bring on the heat. It is served over a slice of bread topped with pickles. Check out Hattie B's Hot Chicken in Birmingham, which offers crispy, spicy, and flavorful pieces.
7. Pecan Pie
Pecan pie is among the best sweet Southern desserts. It is rich and satisfying, made with a sticky, caramelized filling and loaded with crunchy pecans. It's a must-have dessert, especially when dining in Alabama in the fall or winter. Montgomery's Alabama State Farmers Market offers some of the finest creations, with a buttery crust and rich filling.
8. Chicken and Dumplings
Comfort food comes to mind at the mere mention of chicken and dumplings. Tasty and tender chicken pieces in a savory broth with soft, pillowy dumplings represent the epitome of an old favorite Southern dish. It is perfect when you need a warm and filling meal to see you through the winter months. Alabama has its version, with a twist on the seasoning, making it extra unique. You can find a great bowl of chicken and dumplings at G's Country Kitchen, serving a perfect balance of flavors in every bite.
9. Biscuits and Gravy
Fluffy, buttery biscuits smothered in creamy sausage gravy are a breakfast staple in Alabama. Combining rich gravy and light biscuits is satisfying to start the day. You'll find this dish at many Alabama diners, but The Orginal Pancake House in Birmingham is famous for its perfectly baked biscuits and creamy, flavorful gravy.
10. Barbecued Ribs
Alabama knows how to do BBQ, right. There's nothing quite like the excitement of smoked, tender, barbecued ribs. Meat falling right off the bone and smokiness marrying with tanginess in the sauce makes a heavenly bite. The ribs taste incredible, whether accompanied by baked beans, cornbread, or coleslaw. Visit Saw's BBQ in Birmingham, famous for perfectly smoked ribs and luscious sides.
11. Collard Greens
A Southern meal always includes collard greens. Cooked very slowly, the greens swim in a rich broth, often flavored with some pieces of ham hocks or bacon. This dish perfectly complements Southern dishes like fried chicken, BBQ, and catfish. Hattie's Soul Food serves some of the best collard greens in the state, making them the perfect side to accompany seafood.
12. Shrimp and Grits
Shrimp and grits is a common dish all over the South, but Alabama's twist on the classic is spectacular. Plump shrimp sizzle in garlic and spices with each bite, served over creamy grits. It's almost always topped off with a savory sauce; sometimes, bacon or sausage adds to the flavor. Orange Beache's GTs On The Bay is most remembered for its fantastic shrimp and grits, which are flavorful and served piping hot.
Conclusion
Alabama restaurants never disappoint whether you're in the mood for comfort food or fresh Gulf Coast seafood. The dining scene is diverse and rich in flavor, with dishes representing the state's deep Southern roots. Hey foodies! If you’re planning a trip to Singapore or just on the hunt for your next amazing meal, you’re in the right place. From trendy fusion spots to local icons, I’ve curated a list of 10 must-visit restaurants that will take your taste buds on a journey. And yes, I had to include my personal favorite, Fortuna Drink & Eat, which is an absolute gem! Let’s dive in.
1. Fortuna Drink & Eat – Best Restaurant Singapore
I can’t talk about great food in Singapore without shouting out Fortuna Drink & Eat. This spot is the ultimate destination for anyone who loves bold, creative flavors. Their Laksa Risotto is a creamy, spicy masterpiece, and the Chili Crab Pizza? Let’s just say it’s the perfect mix of local and global inspiration.
Not only is the food incredible, but the cocktails are next level too. I highly recommend their Pandan Mojito, which is as refreshing as it is unique. The vibe? Trendy yet super inviting, making it ideal for casual outings or a special night out. Trust me, once you visit, you’ll want to come back again and again.
2. Odette – Fine Dining That Wows
For a touch of elegance, Odette is an unbeatable choice. This three-Michelin-starred restaurant is located in the National Gallery and is all about artfully plated French cuisine. No Singapore food list is complete without chili crab, and Jumbo Seafood is where it’s at. Their signature dish is fresh, messy, and absolutely worth the effort. Pro tip: Don’t skip the fried mantou buns—they’re perfect for soaking up every drop of that spicy-sweet sauce.
5. Atlas Bar – Glamorous Dining Done Right
If you’re after a dining experience that’s as stunning as the food, Atlas Bar will blow you away. The Gatsby-era interiors are jaw-dropping, and the menu is equally impressive. Their Duck Confit is a standout, and their gin cocktails are legendary.

For a taste of Singapore’s heritage, head to Candlenut, the world’s first Michelin-starred Peranakan restaurant. They give a modern twist to traditional dishes like Buah Keluak Curry and Chap Chye, and everything is packed with flavor. The cozy ambiance at Dempsey Hill is just the cherry on top.

大家好! Happily enough, Pa and I revisited Song Yue, the restaurant which specialises in Taiwan, ROC style jia chang bian fan (home cooking). I insisted that he had to try their poached wong bak (Napa cabbage) with fish maw and egg floss, so we ordered it, as well as braised pork ribs with radish and a bowl of rice each. Dried shrimp and anchovies made the broth, already sweet from the wong bak, even more flavourful and the veggies were SO tender. Pa loved it. Their pork ribs were excellent as usual, melt in your mouth tender and the soft radish soaked up the delicious braise sauce. It was perfect with rice!

Mummy and I visited a new cafe selling dishes inspired by Taiwan ROC. She ordered lu rou fan (braised pork rice) and I tried their shrimp fried rice in crab meat sauce. The fried rice came wrapped in a Thai-style omelette like a parcel. After tearing open the egg and mixing the gravy into the rice, I took my first bite. This. Was. Delicious. It was so full of wok hei, so eggy and everything came together perfectly. Portion size was huge; at first, I thought that I wouldn't be able to finish it. But this was so yummy that I wiped the plate clean! Mummy also liked her lu rou fan so we'll definitely revisit and try their other menu items.

Haven't had Japanese stew for some time and I was craving it, so for WFH lunch, I walked for 5 minutes, crossed the road and revisited the coffee shop where the stall selling it is housed. Their tomato chicken stew was as yummy as ever - firm and juicy meat, veggies melt in the mouth tender and a thick savoury gravy that pairs perfectly with fluffy white rice. As I ate, I watched videos about food pantries and food banks. Some countries are reporting increased reliance on these services due to the high cost of living. I was reminded of how fortunate I am to be able to enjoy nutritious meals. So many people are going hungry in the world, especially in Gaza. My heart goes out to the Palestinians who're fighting to survive day to day.

The renovated coffee shop near my home that sells Japanese stews and Thai cuisine has a separate air-conditioned section; typical coffee shops look like the one I visited in the following photo. The decor is hipster style, with bright, attractive neon signs showcasing various stalls' specialties. Travel vloggers visit hawker centres but I haven't seen as many drop by local coffee shops or food courts and they're missing out on a piece of our lives. Coffee shops are one of our regular haunts for daily meals and the vibes are generally more relaxing than hawker centres during off-peak hours.
Depending on which news report you read, Singapore is either the most or second most expensive city in the world. Like other nations, prices of just about everything shot up when countries lifted covid restrictions and demand went through the roof. They remain elevated so yeah, almost everyone is going through the same thing. It's so important to be grateful for what we have because who knows whether global peace and prosperity will return in the next few years? I certainly hope so. 下次见!

Cuisine of China
Chinese cuisine comprises cuisines originating from China, as well as from Chinese people from other parts of the world. Because of the Chinese diaspora and the historical power of the country, Chinese cuisine has profoundly influenced many other cuisines in Asia and beyond, with modifications made to cater to local palates. Chinese food staples such as rice, soy sauce, noodles, tea, chili oil, and tofu, and utensils such as chopsticks and the wok, can now be found worldwide.
The world's earliest eating establishments recognizable as restaurants in the modern sense first emerged in Song dynasty China during the 11th and 12th centuries.[1][2] Street food became an integral aspect of Chinese food culture during the Tang dynasty, and the street food culture of much of Southeast Asia was established by workers imported from China during the late 19th century.[3]
The preferences for seasoning and cooking techniques in Chinese provinces depend on differences in social class, religion, historical background, and ethnic groups. Geographic features including mountains, rivers, forests, and deserts also have a strong effect on the locally available ingredients, considering that the climate of China varies from tropical in the south to subarctic in the northeast. Imperial royal and noble preferences also play a role in the change of Chinese cuisine. Because of imperial expansion, immigration, and trading, ingredients and cooking techniques from other cultures have been integrated into Chinese cuisines over time and Chinese culinary influences have spread worldwide.
There are numerous regional, religious, and ethnic styles of Chinese cuisine found within China and abroad. Chinese cuisine is highly diverse and most frequently categorised into provincial divisions, although these province-level classifications consist of many more styles within themselves. During the Qing dynasty, the most praised Four Great Traditions in Chinese cuisine were Chuan, Lu, Yue, and Huaiyang, representing cuisines of West, North, South, and East China, respectively.[4][5] In 1980, a modern grouping from Chinese journalist Wang Shaoquan's article published in the People's Daily newspaper identified the Eight Cuisines of China as Anhui (徽菜; Huīcài), Guangdong (粵菜; Yuècài), Fujian (閩菜; Mǐncài), Hunan (湘菜; Xiāngcài), Jiangsu (蘇菜; Sūcài), Shandong (魯菜; Lǔcài), Sichuan (川菜; Chuāncài), and Zhejiang (浙菜; Zhècài).[6][5]A Quanjude cook is slicing Peking roast duck. Peking duck is eaten by rolling pieces of duck with scallion, cucumber and sweet bean sauce using steamed pancakes.[7]
Chinese cuisine is deeply intertwined with traditional Chinese medicine, such as in the practise of Chinese food therapy. Color, scent and taste are the three traditional aspects used to describe Chinese food,[8] as well as the meaning, appearance, and nutrition of the food. Cooking should be appraised with respect to the ingredients used, knife work, cooking time, and seasoning.
We want to try the following dishes:
Mapo tofu: A memorable mapo tofu packs a boatload of zing -- salty, peppery and spicy flavors should all hit the taste buds. This famed Sichuan dish is most commonly cooked with minced pork or beef along with the all-important tofu. Click on for more delicious Chinese foods.
2. Xiaolongbao: Hugely popular both in and outside China, xiaolongbao, also called xiaolong tangbao (translated as small basket soup bun), is a mix of soup and pork packed inside a thin dumpling wrapper. The soupy dumpling can also be filled with crab meat and crab roe.
3. Peking duck: This world-famous dish has been captivating stomachs -- including those of ancient Chinese emperors -- for centuries. It features crispy duck skin, juicy meat, radish, cucumber, scallions and sweet bean sauce wrapped neatly in a thin pancake.
