Gotta make a note of some capacitors I gotta collect to make this 555 circuit real quick:

470uF

10uF

1mF (1000uF)

And the corresponding resistors:

10k, 22k, 50k

If I don't mark it down somewhere I'll forget what I gotta grab.

plus I heard infodumping about one's special interests can be attractive 🫣

#im swapping the 5k/100uF pair for a 50k/10uF so the timing constant stays the same but the quinscent current goes down.#the design is unconventional as in its not in the 555 Cookbook but it worked in the Falstad simulator 👀#i hope it works in real life too 🤞#all the timings from the three RC networks are timing-specific #like pins 2 4 and 6/7 need to br triggered in a particular order so they 555 triggers the output once and only once.#they all start low -- reset/enable on pin 4 needs to go high enough (1/3vcc) first #then pin 2 needs to go high enough (2/3vcc) quickly thereafter #but it cant exceed 1/3vcc before 4 is triggered #and 6/7 must get to 2/3vcc after all of that to turn the pulse off #anyways anybody wanna make out with me about it? 😳

Tbh I'm gonna go back to an iPhone

#i love my xperia but its full of multiple bugs that sony refuses to fix or even acknowledge #on top of their customer support being a nightmare to even get into contact with #through any avenue tbh #not to mention only two years of software updates and three of security updates which like.#I'd rather not be carrying around a Huge Risk Factor in my pocket #i can say a lot of shit about apple #all of which is true but at least they have a pretty decent commitment to consumer privacy?#idk i wanted to like this phone and the android experience and for literally so many reasons I very much do!#native 3.5 mm headphone jack and expandable storage are so nice #as is the camera and 4k screen #but at the end of the day the signal is spotty #and if you have more than one wifi network saved into the phone it will reset itself constantly #and even if you don't it will just kind of Do That #not to mention that after one software update sony put out the blacks in my screen started to have a green tint #betextyiff

#ember talks #it takes a lot for me to get this mad vis a vis tech support but like you shouldnt almost accidentally factory reset a laptop #when youre trying to connect it to a wifi network #need to stress that i did not *want* my laptop on this wifi network #i do not *need* my laptop on this wifi network #trying to connect it was apparently training for a coworker #you absolutely did not need to wipe my login keychain or open up discord!!!!!#and you most certainly did not need to misgender and deadname me through the entire ordeal as well

This works on Windows 10, not sure about 11 yet though. (It's in the Settings menu, network settings, and I think you have to go into the settings for the specific network you're connected to. If you do a network reset, it removes that setting, so be sure to set it back afterwards!)

Also I believe no piece of software except for internet browsers should have always online internet connection. In fact, if you have something like an multiplayer game, you should go and click a very visible, very noticeable button that allows it to connect to the internet. If there is an update to an application, even your own OS, it should be in a very, very visible notification and only start with your express consent. You should be able to tell when something in your computer is connected to the internet. If you update your program in the background you should be shot.

#I found that last part out the hard way.#Got jumped by Many Updates as soon as I reconnected after a Network Reset.#I only wish I'd known it sooner because one of the updates absolutely messed up my network adapter #(it's a common story according to the number of differently-hosted forum boards I found with the exact same problem)#but of course Windows 10 doesn't let you uninstall updates individually the way XP did. u_u #(before anyone asks yes I've checked for driver updates and checked the router and reset the adapter and disabled/enabled it #and done SO many network resets and run command lines to reset the ip and subnet and things I don't entirely understand (risky I know)#and disabled IPv6 and changed the one setting to Long Only and probably more things that I can't remember right now.#It still randomly disconnects and won't let me reconnect to the network unless I do a complete reboot.#And oftentimes on days it's doing this I'll have to reboot FIVE TIMES an HOUR.#I'm at the point where I'm just going to get a very long ethernet cable as soon as I have spare cash. :P #anyways. OS updates. Metered connection stops them!#computer #windows #tips and tricks

oh shit I finally got my TV working! I can actually watch TV again!

#for context I haven't been able to install the channels for moths now #I get free cable network TV with the apartment so it's been a bit annoying to get them to do anything about it #but it's fixed now! it took a very specific way of resetting my TV for the channel installation to work again but it works!#I'm kinda really excited to be able to just turn on the TV to watch news and shit #that feels like it's silly but my mom always watches the news and it just feels to me like a part of being an adult at home in the evening #like you're just visiting somewhere or staying not-at-home if you don't watch the news #idk why it's like that for me but it just is #anyway it's been years since I lived at home and I haven't had a working TV for most of the time since I moved away from my parents #so it feels like I'm just a bit more a proper adult living a full life and that makes me excited I think
