30! for the Fanfic Ask Game <3

30. Describe a fic that almost happened, but then it didn’t.

I almost wrote a fic where Elain was going to have had dreams about Lucien since she was a little girl. So much so that her family thought she was this peculiar child with an over active imagination / tendencies to lie. Once she was a young teenager (and they were impoverished) she is convinced that a Prince was going to meet her one day and fall in love with her, consequently saving her family from their poverty. The kind of Prince Charming that seemed to perfect. Handsome, but kind. A fine, elegant gentleman but also a man that was not afraid of hard work. Loved to dance but also enjoyed time spent outside. Brave but did not relish in violence. Sound familiar?

Anyways, it died somewhere in my WIPs. I have used bits and pieces of this idea in parts of other fics.

Elain could understand everything happening with a cruel clarity. She understood the ruthless hands that had stolen her and Nesta from her beds, she understood they lived in a world where they were mere pawns to kings and queens, she understood when she tumbled out of the magical cauldron that she would never be human again, and most of all, she understood there was nothing her sister Feyre or anyone could do to save her.

Until she saw him—the male from her dreams. So achingly familiar, from his red hair, to his jagged scar, even down to the gold earrings perched along his pointed ears. Every detail already memorized. Every sharp line beckoning for her touch. It had been some time since she saw him last.

So what the fuck was he doing here?

All she could do was stare and stare and stare over Nesta’s shoulder. From across the room, his mismatched eyes slowly met hers with a devastation so intimate, she wondered if he somehow remembered her as well. If her memory somehow haunted him too.

Instead, he whispered, “You’re my mate.”

The word was not familiar, but made her shiver all the same. And when she was ripped away, she could not understand any of it. Could not understand how he was here, standing before her in his flesh. Could not understand how her body and soul already knew him and she didn’t even know his name.

But most of all she couldn’t understand why he didn’t save her.

As soon as Wild passes through the portal, he knows they are back in his Hyrule. The feel of Zelda’s divinity snakes away like a string, tying them together. The world is familiar, both in appearance and feeling.

Also, there’s a Guardian directly in front of them.

“Shit!” Wild stumbles to a stop, which means the rest of the Chain bump into him as they try to walk through the portal.

“Hey! Keep moving!”

“What’s going on?”

“Wild!” Time’s voice is firm as someone tries to push him forward. “What’s going on?”

The Guardian turns its head, scuttling back and forth as it tracks the surrounding area. “Shit,” he hisses again, then turns back to the group. “We need to move before it notices us!”

Four leans around Warriors to frown at the mechanical creature. “I saw some last time we were here, but they weren’t moving.”

“Yeah, well, these are moving.” His aura is no good; the Guardians are mechanical and thus, unaffected. They are also the reason he ended up in the Shrine of Reserrection, and thus at the bottom of his list. Any list. All lists.

For them, it was alreay proving to be hard, but to the once DEAD, he could not imagine that confusion. The few times he had perished, it was not long enough for the reserrection to be jarring. To be quite honest, he was curious of it all. How it felt to be GONE for the long just to be brought back. To have more or less be told YOUR WORK IS NOT DONE. He was appreciative? Upset? Apathetic to it all? This was their life after all. When did it really end? 

                                                               No need to overload the man & unload on him a complex. It was not of his own making anyway. ❛ I believe the children are looking for SNOW BUNNIES. They come out around the church at this time of the year. They'll chase them for a bit but not to harm. ❜

Aiolos still had a long way ahead of him, for him to adjust to his new reality. Time had passed for everyone else but him, the world around him also went through drastic changes. If that wasn't enough, now it was up for the other gold saints to settle, on a new leadership.

That fact was merely a concept in the back of the boy's mind, as he kept observing the small group of children in the distance. It was something entirely new to him, even though the whole scene reminded him of his time looking after his younger brother, back then.

"Hah. That's new to me. I mean, they should start practicing it as early as possible, after all." A chuckle followed his words, as he spotted one of the aforementioned critters. "Let's see how long it takes for them to see that one, over there."
