ALL THE REP TV EASTER EGGS IN THE NEW AFTERGLOW MV !!

The first image shows a graveyard that we saw in the background when actors Charlie and YN were walking down a path, it’s the same one from the LWYMMD music video. When they were on a date at Olive Garden (which was included in NBNC and this song has a rep feel to it) YN’s phone has new year’s day playing and one of the rings on her hand is a snake ring. The black and white colour scheme of the heart on the building is the same as the reputation colour scheme. The TS written in the sand was first thought to be a Debut (Taylor’s Version) hint but after the overpowering reputation hints perhaps it means reputation (Taylor’s Version). There was a bracelet in the background of YN and Charlie’s kiss in the mv (which took place in YN’s bedroom) where in the background there was a black bracelet among the pink colour scheme that said “REP”. The paper on Charlie’s desk littered with kisses from YN had lyrics to So It Goes… on it.

I think she’d go that far for repTV because that album to me is more performance metaphor than performance art. It challenged people to work to define the concept/purpose of it and it’s her greatest example of plausible deniability.

It’s also why reputation is a great album, but was snubbed at the Grammys—because the people who vote on the Grammys (for example) weren't given the answers to their questions about it beforehand. They didn't get it.

Look at this scenario:

The world’s biggest pop star announces she’s taking a break, but is instead bullied into hiding for a year. She comes back with a new album built around a theme of secrecy and says “there will be no explanation, just reputation.”

People didn't know how to take the album because it wasn’t a typical Taylor Swift album. She didn't really do any interviews about it, but she did tell people that any preconceived notions they had would be wrong (aka, the slideshows of men).

The theme of a “secret relationship” and how it made people question things:

Who was she in this secret relationship with?

Who is Joe Alwyn?

Where had she been for the past year?

Why wasn’t Karlie Kloss on the t-shirt?

What happened between she and Karlie Kloss? Are they still friends? Why did they fall out?

The way she portrayed a falling out with Karlie was the basis of the “secret relationship”. Because all she did was leave Karlie’s name off of a t-shirt and neither of them have spoken much about their relationship since. Karlie denied there was a rift. She showed up at the rep tour (where she posed for pictures backstage WITH Taylor) and the eras tour (where we all saw how Taylor was reacting and that she could spot her from the stage)

Taylor took one person’s negative perception which had been adopted by millions and embraced it as a rebirth. Because when snakes shed their skin, it’s a fresh start. When she fully shed her skin, we got lover, then folklore, evermore, midnights, TTPD. Albums with lyrics that are more open and vulnerable than her previous ones (for example, chase two girls, lose the 1).

The gradual leaning into being somewhat more comfortable in her new skin:

Rep: the rainbow dress in “end game”, using the caption “out now” when rep was released.

Lover: that whole aesthetic. The “Me!” video. False God.

Folklore: The 1, Betty, Seven(being used on the show Heartstopper after the creative team sent letters to Taylor and her team telling them how important it was for the scene and them being “very receptive” 😏).

Evermore: Ivy and letting it be used on Dickinson during a love scene between two lead female characters

Midnights: Maroon

Which all goes back to the performance metaphor of repTV, because her newly-assigned reputation is why she disappeared, but its also why she so wondrously and brutally by design or some violent, exquisite happenstance arrived here.

So given all that's going on as of late, maybe since she has embraced being a snake since 2016/2017, she's once again trying to shed her skin for another fresh start, but not in the environment she's currently placed herself in.

Bentley 8 Squad & Bella Goth as Taylor Swift Albums

I didn't put Taylor's self-titled album because she herself didn't include her songs from this album in The Eras Tour. I know, everyone will think that Angie is the only faithful swiftie. But I think almost of all her albums has resemblance to the Bentley 8 Squad, and Bella Goth as well.

Fearless (2008): similar to Johnny Smith, even though he has green skin, he has a strong confidence and doesn't care what others think about him.

Speak Now (2010): similar to Angela Pleasant. Angela is a swiftie from the beginning, and the butterfly + koi fish aesthetics in this album is very personal to her.

Red (2012): No need to explain. The entire RED album especially the color belongs to the Legendary Bella Goth.

1989 (2014): The blue aesthetics and the dreams of NYC belongs to Dirk, ofc.

Reputation (2017): The dark aesthetic and snakes. Need I say more? Couldn't be better for Lilith.

Lover (2019): Ripp is a romance sim who is proudly bisexual, and I believe "You Need to Calm Down" is his favorite LGBTQ+ Anthem.

Folklore/Evermore (2020): Puck is a fairy who loves nature, and he spends most of his time in the forest or woods.

Midnights (2022): I believe Dustin likes the lighter symbolism due to his bad boy nature, and "Vigilante Shit" is his favorite revenge anthem.

The Tortured Poets Department (2024): Ophelia is a poet who has anxiety and depression like the songs represented in this album. And the gray aesthetics belongs to her.

After the completion of the European leg of the eras tour Taylor Swift premiered the 'I can do it with a broken heart' music video, the thirteenth track from the tortured poets department. This music video contains footage that showcases the eras tour performance, rehearsals and much anticipated moments backstage. These highlights contradict the heartache described within the lyrics to reveal the dichotomy of Taylor's experience throughout her career.

I can read your mind "She's having the time of her life" There in her glittering prime

This song is describing how Taylor feels like a mirrorball when she is on stage performing for us all. This doesn't necessarily negate the enjoyment and excitement she feels when performing, instead it is an invitation for us to understand that she doesn't always feel that way 100% of the time. This is why she is frequently asking us to look past the aesthetics of an album and to read the lyrics.

The lights refract sequin stars Off her silhouette every night I can show you lies

Taylor begins her journey to the stage by hiding inside a cleaning cart, like a broom closet on wheels. Pairing this clip with "I can show you lies" implies that Taylor™ on stage is the filtered version of Taylor. This could be a reference to clean in a biblical sense, after all the cart is structured like a confessional booth. Water is also seen as a way to purify sins and we know how much Taylor loves a rain show.

'Cause I'm a real tough kid I can handle my shit They said, "Babe, you gotta fake it 'til you make it" And I did Lights, camera, bitch, smile Even when you want to die He said he'd love me all his life

A lot of the music video is focused on the tortured poets department set, but the other eras are featured throughout the music video too. This connection to the eras and the lyrics suggest that Taylor has experienced some level of hiding behind a facade throughout her entire career, with her truth lingering in the shadows before stepping into the spotlight.

But that life was too short Breaking down, I hit the floor All the pieces of me shattered As the crowd was chanting "More!" I was grinning like I'm winning I was hitting my marks 'Cause I can do it with a broken heart

The empty glass closets are also heavily featured throughout the music video. They're used to display the past versions of Taylor, but also represent hiding her queerness in plain sight. "But that life was too short" being paired with the reputation era further emphasises Taylor shedding the eras like a snake sheds its skin. Taylor is constantly trying to reinvent herself, but this process isn't sustainable in the long run. This reinvention has to end at some point.

This scene is like being virtually anointed with the 22 hat, yet pairing it with the lyric about it being her birthday everyday points us back to Taylor's earlier years. This facade of happiness has been an everyday occurrence as Taylor has spent her career trying to be the 'good girl'. The tortured poets department signifies the end of this facade and the eras tour reflects this slow unveiling to reveal the inner version of Taylor hidden underneath.

This next scene represents Taylor sitting down to play 'champagne problems'. This is a poignant performance on the eras tour which Taylor describes as "cathartic", another synonym for purification. The themes of this song connect to the celebration scene in the 'all too well' music video as well.

This section of the music video highlights the connection to the surprise song set and the most frequently played song 'you're on your own kid'. Just after the surprise songs Taylor dives into the water on the stage and leaves the past eras behind before reemerging into the lavender haze, her dream for the future.

I'll avoid posting pictures of the crowd here, but the decision to release this music video on the same day many swifties were anticipating "More!" with reputation tv was intentional. Anticipating an announcement of any kind every week leads to many missing out on the subtle changes that are occurring along the way. As Taylor continues to practice singing 'I can do it with a broken heart' behind the scenes it is reminiscent of the giant Taylor in the 'anti hero' set screaming for help.

The floor during the rehearsals is laid out to match the grids of the stage with different colours representing each section of the stage. The yellow section is reminiscent of the yellow brick road that was also included in the 'Florida!!!' set. This combination suggests that Taylor's getting closer to her destination with the next leg of the tour.

This colour combination of orange and lilac suggests that this is the queer version of Taylor hidden behind the scenes, while the public only sees the black and white version of the set. All of these little hints and clues that Taylor has left like breadcrumbs along the way for us to discover might seem minuscule on their own, but together point towards what's yet to come in the future.

A Spectacular Fashion Voyage with Taylor Swift's Eras Tour!

As the final notes of the American leg of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour echo in our hearts, let's revel in the extraordinary fashion journey she's gifted us with! From the mesmerizing Lover era to the captivating depths of Reputation, each phase unveiled a distinct style, outfits that spoke volumes, and an aesthetic that transcended time.

She starts the show in her Lover Era with “Miss Americana and the heartbreak prince” followed by the first bridge of the night form “cruel summer”. For this era she has worn three custom bodysuits from Versace, all of them full of rain stones in shades os pink, blue, gold and purple, inspired byDuring this set in “The Man”, over the bodysuit, she wears a sparkly blazer as a dress, also from versace.

Fearless is next, Roberto Cavalli was in charge of creating these dresses that Swift rocked while dancing in a storm. The gold fringe dress was reminiscent of a similar look the designer created for her Speak Now Tour in 2011, the three dresses rememore the ones she wore back them, golden fringe and tassels that belong to her more than ever.

Long story short, while performing various songs from her album Evermore she took the stage in a yellow Etro dress that featured a corset top and beading detail down the front. For her magical performance of “Willow” she added a matching Etro cape. Playing into the woodsy nature of the Evermore album with a darker burgundy color and ruffles throughout Marco de Vincenzo, creative director of Etro, designed another dress for this set.

One of her most dramatic looks was the Roberto Cavalli one-legged jumpsuit. The design features a black sheer sleeve, glittering material and a three-dimensional embroidered snake motif winding from the bottom of her leg to the top of her neck. The ruby red snake contrasts with the black bezels of the design, it was reminiscent of the many bodysuits Swift wore during Reputation Tour as it was covered in black sequins scales.

For the end of a decade and the start of an age, she wore a custom-made Zuhair Murad Couture tulle ballgown – featuring beautiful beading, sequins, pearls and crystal embellishments all over the voluminous skirt and bodice. The impressive dress required 50 metres of tulle, while the elaborate design took more than 350 hours of handwork to create in the brand's atelier. In addition to the shimmering Zuhair Murad gown, after the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) she wore a beautiful lilac Nicole + Felicia ballgown, featuring a tiered tulle skirt that captured the light beautifully, thanks to its crystal-embellished finish. Another gown Swift fought dragons is was a Elie Saab one covered in flower apliqué and shimmery beading.

She was never good at telling jokes but the punchline goes, and she know it too well because she wore a sequinned Ashish t-shirt embroidered with quotes such as “Who’s Taylor Swift any wat? Ew”, “A lot going on at the moment” and “we are never getting back together like ever” with a Gladys Tamez Millinery hat that she gave to different fans every night.

So far we had a marvelous time leading to Folklore where the singer performed in a more delicate look in the form of a floaty, layered lilac dress by Alberta Ferretti. "Thinking about these stage dresses for her also pushed me to reflect on my career milestones," explained Ferretti. "I think what we have created reflects this journey where the key elements of my style stand out: lightness, femininity, romance, attention to detail and a delicate, gentle seduction." She wore a green chiffon gown with a deep neckline, flowing sleeves and embroidered leaf detailing, designed by Alberta Ferretti too. Swift added to her repertoire of beautifully designed dresses in a custom-made orange Etro gown, with an embroidered ruffled bodice.

Darling, she’s nightmare dressed like a daydream in three shimmering two-pieces by Roberto Cavalli. Its beautiful design gave the illusion of crystal water droplets, which moved effortlessly as she performed onstage. She wore the outfit with her go-to sequin Christian Louboutin boots. For the surprise song, Taylor topped this cavalli matching sets with Jessica Jones ruffled dresses in matching colours.

From sprinkler splashes to fireplace ashes, the last part of the show started with a midnight blue bodysuit full of sequins and rainstones with a matching garter by Oscar de la Renta. In a lighter shade of blue, Zuhair Murrad designed another beaded bodysuit. In the lasts shows in LA, she also wore a bodysuit similar to the one she wore in the 1989 tour, with cut-outs and fringe bottom. Every time, everybody agrees that Taylor Swift wears the best looks on stage, and for Anti-Hero Taylor wears her second Oscar de la Renta look consisted of a sequinned 'aurora borealis' T-shirt dress with a co-ordinating lavender faux fur coat, which also featured delicate crystal droplets. For Karma she vibes like that with a tassel coat just to say see you later to the swifties.

I mean, isn’t it obvious? Gwen is a reputation girlie. I mean, to the core. Dark and edgy on the outside, but on the inside full of love and care. Everything about reputation is Gwen. Like reputation is everything Gwen should have been, either full on into revenge and not giving a fuck or full on in love and not caring about anything other than that.

Gwen would definitely lean into the snake aesthetic. She already wears the all black and the combat boots, but lets make it even better with the green and the snakes all around. I think she might even want to lean into a direct copy of the reputation costumes from the tour. I mean, who wouldn’t want to wear the I Did Something Bad outfit? I mean, talk about gay panic. Taylor Swift and the characterisation of “female rage”: A chronology from 1989 to Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve (finished)

With miss T Swizzle you never know what to expect when she announces new music. At least after everything we went through in 2020, with the release of two unannounced masterpieces in Folklore and Evermore, the style, stories and theme of new music is no longer as predictable as it might have been with prior releases. I’m not one to complain, the opposite in fact. Midnights is a nuanced and personal look in the rear mirror, full of reflections of past wins, failures, longings and a recognition of hurts caused and received. What happens when a scorned woman, who previously has tried to handle her anger in a dignified way, decides to cut all bonds and unleash her anger? Let’s take a look.

Choosing a starting point for this analysis is tricky. Swift, though barley in her thirties, has by now had a longstanding career and written extensively about her own life. Her first three albums will not be considered, since this analysis will manly focus on female rage in adult women. During the creation of her first three albums Swift was not yet a full grown adult. Red will also not be considered, since even though she by then was in her early twenties, according to my personal opinon she was not yet recognised as an adult by the media. Let’s instead start with 1989.

1989

Her rebirth as a pop star was the first time Swift started to show her teeth. The album’s lead single, Shake it off, is a masterclass in feigning a cool composure and bracing against sharp tongues and daggers thrown in ones direction. But, in Swift’s case, art didn’t imitate life. Tweeting with few filters and criticising the media for their unhealthy obsession with her romantic life was a first step towards showing that, no, she might not actually “shake it off”, and instead building a growing resentment. Her song Blank Space is another example of using humour to cope with the fact that you’re regularly dragged through the mud for public enjoyment and an everloning thirst for scandals. Still, the anger portrayed in this era was more of a tongue-i-cheek style. “Look at me, I’m being slutshamed on the daily but I’m cool and will make a funky little music video about this. I’m so relaxed and calm about this, and I have no trouble sleeping at night.” This essence of not caring was slowly being dismantled by Swift herself while performing at the Grammy museum. Swift uses words such as “obsession” and “insulting” to describe the situation around everyones interest in whom she might or might not date. This slow admission of her not being “cool with it” takes us to her next burst of creation, Reputation.

Flying high and shining brighter than ever before ended for Swift during her 1989-era when Snakegate came around and soured the perception of the previously squeaky clean star. Deciding to make the best of the situation Swift ran with the aesthetic of snakes, betrayal and backstabs and created Reputation. Though manly an album about fling in love and beginning a stable relationship away from the scrutiny of the media, Reputation still rekindles the scorned feelings of being thrown to the wolves in-front of an applauding audience. The lead single Look what you made me do oozes with withheld anger, that is still played of through humour and sarcasm. Hiding behind self-irony instead of actually lashing out. Using karma as the harshest threat against those who scorned her and surrounding herself with snakes in the song’s music video creates a caricature of anger, instead of “the real deal”. Similarly the song I did something bad plays more on the concept of her anger, which is apparent, but still played off in a partially ironic way. Choosing to illustrate the essence of her rage against narratives in the media concerning her, being burned like a witch, and possible lovers using her as a ticket to fame and attention, with sounds of machine guns rattling softly diminishes the values of her feelings and softens the blow for her listeners. Using humour, and sugar coating reality, is a commonly used tactic to cope with feeling which aren’t pretty, nor accepted in a societal context. Might this have been the reason why she, during this era, choose to focus on interacting with her fans through extensive touring instead of having a strong presence in the media ?
