"i dont get why everything in media is queer nowadays-"
why shouldn't it be? no, seriously, i want you to give me one good reason why it shouldn't be.
because you don't want to not have any characters you can relate to/project yourself onto?
wow. gee. i wonder what that must feel like. i have no idea. its not like 95%* of media focuses on straight people, or out of the five percent that focuses on/has queer people (which has only really started becoming at thing in the last twenty-five years* at most), four percent* of it either:
is a queerphobic caricature
has them die at the end
has them as the bad guy
has them end up single and alone, while the rest of the cast gets paired up
isnt even queer and is just outright queerbait
is only white, cis, able-bodied, neurotypical, perisex men
is fetishizing the identity in question
but yeah, im sure we couldn't possibly know what that's like. (/sarcasm)
not to mention that straight people?
their stories dont have to be focused on them being straight, and realizing theyre straight, and the struggles that come with it (im not counting romance as this, because im talking about stories addressing what it is to be straight, not just straight romance). but for queer people? their stories have to be focused on them finding out that theyre queer, and coming out, and how their lives are so much harder because of it.
but no, go ahead. give me one good reason that more media shouldnt include as much queer rep, and it can't be your own personal biases that boil down to "i dont like it/its bad/its evil/its sexual/i dont like what i dont understand and i dont understand it".
nothing?
yeah.
so why don't you just shut the fuck up and stop taking away and bashing the little good rep queer people do have. not everything is made for straight people, you know.
(*: not an exact number, might be slightly exaggerated, but i don’t know specific statistics of stuff like that. if anyone has some, i’d love to hear them!)

There were zero callers ahead of me in the queue, and yet I've somehow already been on hold for 20 minutes. I'm thinking no one actually mans the RMV phones, because this is fucking ridiculous.

i actually tried to order some new glasses online a few months ago. some heart shaped ones from eyebuydirect. and mind you i had filtered their stupid website by only frames compatible with my prescription. so i placed the order, ok. and then i get this email like, “there’s a problem…” and so i call and i’m like Hey i got this email. and they’re like Oh yeah that’s because your prescription is actually too fucked up and you’re actually too much of a sick and twisted and deformed freak for the heart shaped lenses. But you could choose any of the basic frames that aren’t heart shaped and it would be fine. and i’m like Ok, how about these other heart shaped frames that actually use like a cat eye lens? and they’re like No. you’re too fucked up for those too. and i’m like Ok are you able to cancel my order or is that something i need to do on my end? and they’re like Oh are you sure? we could do any square or rectangle or round frame… and i’m like Well unfortunately i kind of just wanted the heart shaped ones specifically. so they canceled my order and i went to 1-800-contacts instead and had a beautiful and amazing and perfect experience with zero issues
