By the way, you may have encountered few blogs lately pretty suspicious that were copying many posts in fandom (text post, arts and else), from their caption to even their tags (even the personal ones :'s). And followed by a "read more" that linked to a malware page.

I asked Tumblr staff if they would consider it as a copyright infringement or more like spam since those blogs post the "right" content in the right tag and that it is a form of repost after all. (the thing is it's so much more complicated to report for copyright issue than spam)

Here's their reply

So hurray they consider it as spam so from now on if you see those, before blocking them, let's report them in mass to be sure they'll be deleted (>o<)/

Thanks for telling me! They’ve apparently “dubbed” (ai voices) a couple of my comics, which tbh I don’t really mind but do mind the no credit in the video or description or comments, I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to reposting so pretty funny

I’ll see if I can do anything about it, I kinda doubt it seeing it seems like a whole account just dedicated to not crediting, but here’s my advice

- If you ever see my work (or any artist you know) reposted and not credited, just comment and credit me yourself! So at least people can still find the source someway ^^

I'm not sure if it's because LnDS is a fairly new fandom, and people aren't very aware of the reposting problems that exist across fandoms in general. You wouldn't dare go around reposting fics in the tag, so why should other forms of content be treated any differently???

There's also an issue with art reposting in this tag, blogs that repost art are getting thousands of likes and reblogs. Is reblogging stolen art the community we want????? By the way, disclaiming "credit to the artist or whoever it belongs to" means nothing, especially when you go and look at the artists who made the art, 90% of them say DO NOT REPOST.

I just went to the top posts and looked at the very obvious reposted art and traced it back to the artists, and what a "surprise" I found in their bios and posts.

Tr: no reposting, no edits etc...

Some of the curses on these...I beg you run a translator through it before you steal...

Okay so there's this gintama spyfam cross fanart from @ jackystar243 that I've seen. It was a reposted art (i scanned through the blog). The blog has several other reposted sxf art.

I tagged my mutuals who reblogged it, artists @ roucaelum-art and @ mochidoodle whose arts were also reposted, to alert them.

And next I've sent an ask (roucaelum also messaged them iirc) but i doubt the person cared and my ask was probably ignored because i saw another reposted art some days ago.

I just want to alert everyone to be careful about reblogging fanarts. There are L O T S of reposters even here on tumblr. So let me share my tip: browse through the blog first.

A loooot of gifs are being reposted on the r/pedro_pascal subreddit. Some crop out logos and I'm terrible at identifying them, but I'm pretty certain some of them are stolen.

Also, after contacting the staff, they consider it as a spam and not as a copyright infringement so don't hesitate to report as spam before blocking, this way it'll be easier to remove them quickly

I will add to be careful not to get tricked by the tags that can seem very "human", the bot is actually reposting with the tags used by the original user, even the most personal ones. Just seeing the "read more" must be a red flag to not interact with the post.

I don't know if anyone has talked about this, but lately this has been happening in other fandoms too. There'll be these bot accounts that straight up steals people's posts and adds "expand" "read more" "continue" as a link in the end of the post - DON'T CLICK ON THAT, it's most likely a malware or something of the like.

so if you see a post like this: no profile picture, something that looks reposted (I've seen this happening to artists too) and a link at the end, even if the post has tags, that's a bot. Block and report it.

New art thief in the fandom to avoid

The user @mariaalda is stealing fanarts, posting them without any credits without even checking who the original artist is and without respecting if they allow the repost or not (sometimes it's even written on the pic :'/). They don't reply to messages about it and don't even want to delete the posts even when we gave proof that the artist didn't want that....

A friend and I already contacted some artists about that to help, but please be sure to avoid reblogging anything from them. Their actions are not respectful toward the creators of the fandom so let's not encourage that, thank you :'

That weheartit, pinterest, google images and other websites like the first two aren’t sources.

That putting “not mine” in the tags or as a caption is still reposting/stealing.

That putting “credits to [url]” in the tags or as a caption if the original maker hasn’t given you their expicite permission to do so is still reposting/stealing.

That adding a black&write filter to an edit doesn’t make it your own.

That adding some text to an edit doesn’t make it your own.

That whatever you add or erase from someone else’s creation doesn’t make it your own.

That no matter why and how you do it, reposting is hurtful and disrespectul for/to the original creators.

That no matter why and how you do it, reposting is against Tumblr’s policies and the staff is then allowed to delete your blog.

What fucking pisses me off (excuse my language) about this is that I posted this gif set literally one day ago, it currently has 14 notes!!! 14 measly notes!!!! I gif this drama despite knowing it has very little popularity on tumblr out of love, then for it to be compiled into a 11 second video and get reposted somewhere else. Edit: I just realised it has significantly more likes than my original post???

I'm tired of this, at first it was "well you had no watermark", fine I will add a watermark to it, "you didn't say anywhere about no reposting", fine I'll add it to the description of my blog (it's right there easy to see on mobile and desktop). And then what?? Pushing the blame to "I don't remember where I got this from" "Oh it wasn't me" "someone else did it first" these are not good excuses????

"I'll give you credit" NO don't repost!! What's so hard to understand? I don't get paid sitting hours on end to make gifs. The least I ask for is that it doesn't get reposted!! Is this really the gifs we all want to see?????
