A-Z Sherlock Fan Fiction Tropes Bingo
Many thanks to @swissmissing for creating this bingo card! Because I'm like that, I decided to go for a blackout bingo! And because, even as I was typing these, I kept thinking of more wonderful fics that would fit the brief, I hope to fill in my bingo card again. Writers are amazing and deserve to be lauded, and I have left off so many amazing fics and authors. Besides, we all need fic recs. 💙
AU/Amnesia The Murder of Emory J Amat by chriscalledmesweetie. Sherlock and John in 1920's AgathaChristieLand. It's a WIP but is currently updating weekly. (52k, T)
BDSM/Bodyswap - Certain Skills by NoStraightLine. John expressly told Sherlock that if he stole his gun again he’d get the fucking he was asking for. Sherlock “Boundaries Are Boring” Holmes stole John’s gun. (3k, E)
Crossover/Crack - Repo Men by Anyawen. In which Mrs Turner's married ones are James Bond and Q. Q is kidnapped; everybody is a BAMF. (7k, G)
Domestic/Disability A Building of Bridges by pengke. Alternate first meeting. No one would ever send Sherlock in to defuse a stand-off; but on one unlikely day, that’s exactly what happened. “Congratulations, Lestrade,” he called out sarcastically. “You’re traumatizing a war veteran.” (11k, G)
Established Relationship/Enemies to Lovers - Interview by bluebellofbakerstreet. In which the boys are in an 80's punk band, and are being interviewed by Rolling Stone. (2k, G)
Future/Fluff 50. Be You - No one Else Can by KittenKin. John's had a bad day and Sherlock doesn't know how to help. They both feel better at the end, and you will, too. (1k, G)
Gen/Genderswap - The Art of Communication by stillwaters01. Lestrade is receiving odd texts from Sherlock; he reads between the lines and brings help. (2k, T)
Historical/Humor - Acceptable Behavior by bbcatemysoul. Sherlock isn't really sure why John wants to shag him, but he's certain that if he's careful to behave properly about it, John can be persuaded to keep doing it. (3k, M)
Illness/imprisonment - Radioactive Trees in a Red Forest by Maribor_Petrichor. Harrowing account of John's battle with mental health issues and addiction after - you know - everything. (280k, E)
Jealousy/Jilted - Hungry by LipstickDaddy. John can't figure out why Sherlock is being so nice to that new guy working with the yard. (7k, G)
Kids/Kink - The Alchemy of Sea Glass by reveling_in_mayhem. Salt and air and sand surrounded their little party of three. Crashing waves, gull cries, and the exhilarated exclamations of an excited three-year-old served as the soundtrack to a day filled with blue skies and bright sunshine. (22k, E)
Long/Love Triangle The Edinburgh Problem by snorklepie. “A nice holiday, just a bit more...murdery. ” John said drily. “Yes! The best kind of holiday!” Sherlock beamed. “So we won’t get bored!” (152k, E)
Magical Realism/Major Character Death Left by LifeonMars. John Watson is left-handed. He’s tried not to let it affect his life, but as any Lefty knows, that’s almost impossible. (45k, M)
NSFW/Next Gen. Warzone by abundantlyqueer. Three smutty stories that pick up where the first two episodes left off. (13k, E)
Omegaverse/Only One Bed - Scars Don't Lie by CumberCurlyGirl. The prospect of going undercover as husbands to a couples retreat is just too enticing to refuse. (33k, M)
Parenthood/Platonic The Man With the Cartier Frames by JRow. Sherlock's top priority is The Work, just as it's always been ... in between trips to Putney to help with Rosie, collecting Rosie from school, and preparing for Rosie's sleepover at Baker Street. (32k, T)
Queer/Quest Dance With Me by TotallySilverGirl. Sherlock's queer quest for johnlock requires dancing, and some help from Sally Donovan. (28k, E)
Retirement/Road Trip - The Winter Garden by Callie4180. As Sherlock nears the end of his career, he's given the gift of a cottage in Sussex. The honey from the beehives out back is amazing. Almost...magical. (31k, T)
Soulmates/Slow Burn Soul Mate by Mottlemoth. Mystrade. The words appeared on Mycroft's arm aged fourteen. He's now lived with the unfortunate words all his life, not certain that he even wishes to meet his soul mate if that's how the man talks. (4k, T)
Teen AU/Time Travel - The Curious Adventure of the Drs Watson by ShinySherlock. What if ACD Watson and BBC Watson switched places? (40k, M)
Undercover/Unrequited - Last Call at the Homesick Pub by Chryse. During the hiatus, Sherlock is both undercover and suffering from unrequited love. (3k, T)
Vampires/Villain POV - Nine Tenths of the Law by bendingsignpost. John knows what's his - of course he'll kill for it. (Modern vampire AU) (18k, M)
Whump/Werewolves When Your Belly’s in the Trench by Morgan_Stuart. The next time that door opens, John Watson will kill the person on the other side. (4k, T)
Xenomorphism/Xmas - Ghost Stories by SwissMiss. Sherlock's parents think he and John are a couple. They might be onto something. (22k, M)
Zombies/Zoomorphism - Aim for the Head by Breath4Soul. Sometimes you don't really find yourself until everything has ended.A fic about finding love, healing, and purpose after everything has gone to hell. Still a WIP, but worth it. (44k, M)

Repo Man – Chevy Malibu
Alex Cox’s Repo Man is one weird, satirical ‘80s classic. That it centers on car repossession (in addition to government conspiracies, rampant criminality, and radioactive alien corpses) makes it a car movie, of sorts. A lot of cars get broken into, stolen, and repossessed over the course of the film, but the most important car plot-wise is a beige Chevy Malibu driven by a sweaty, one-eyed mad scientist. What makes this Malibu one of the worst cars in movie history? For one, it is super hot inside even with the windows down and AC cranked up. And two, the decaying alien corpses in the trunk are so radioactive that anyone unfortunate enough to open the back end is instantly fried to powder, leaving nothing but a pair of smoldering shoes to tell the tale. For the final scene, the car was painted in 3M reflective paint (at $600 a can!) and hit with spotlights to give it that ghostly glow.
Maximum Overdrive – Happy Toyz Semi
It turns out Emilo Esteves has a knack for appearing in bad car movies as he followed up Repo Man by starring in Stephen King’s Maximum Overdrive. Tired of Hollywood directors butchering his ideas, King directed the movie himself (his first and last attempt at directing). Maximum Overdrive kicks off a consistent theme on this list: killer cars. The premise is hokey and never actually scary (seriously, 1974’s Killdozer is about a killer bulldozer that stalks its victims at 5 mph). In the case of Maximum Overdrive, it isn’t just cars, but all mechanical objects become possessed and homicidal, including one very grumpy toaster. A marauding group of killer semis is led by a Happy Toyz truck with a big fiberglass Green Goblin face on the radiator. Why Marvel’s Green Goblin? We’d ask Stephen King, but the author says he was drinking too much at the time to remember much of anything about the filming.
The Car – Lincoln Continental Mk III
Within the genre of killer cars, The Car ranks … among them. This low budget 1977 horror flick stars James Brolin as Deputy Wade Parent and a very dower looking 1971 Lincoln Continental Mk III. The car of The Car (inventive title, no?) is barely recognizable as a Lincoln thanks to extensive custom work by George Barris, famed customizer of the Hirohata Merc and the 1960s TV Batmobile. Barris added a high belt line, blacked out windows to match a black paint job, massive fenders, and a lowered roof line that gives the car a menacing glower. But rather than scary, the car of The Car ends up looking as corny as the movie’s dialogue, earning it a spot on our list.
Jeepers Creepers – Chevy COE
Far scarier than a possessed car is a car driven by a people-eating demon as seen in Jeepers Creepers. The grim rust bucket in question is a 1941 Chevy cab-over-engine (COE) with a blaring horn and a gnarly cowcatcher used to ram unsuspecting motorists off the road. This being the horror genre, there’s a little bit of tongue-in-cheek humor with the addition of a vanity license plate that reads BEATNU. The Creeper’s Chevy COE is simultaneously one of the best scary movies cars of all time and one of the worst cars to see in your review mirror.
Corvette Summer – C3 Corvette
In between iconic performances in Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back Mark Hamill starred in a little movie called Corvette Summer. The “adventure comedy,” as it was billed, follows a California teenager as he travels to Las Vegas in search of his stolen customized Corvette. Like many custom cars, the Corvette in question has clearly been an ambitious labor of love that got wildly out of control. The elaborate customization included a fiberglass nose shell, candy red paint with flame decals, side pipe exhaust, and a custom rear end with a large Chevy bowtie logo brake light. The car’s custom clamshell hood arrived before the feature debuted on the next-generation (fourth) Corvette. The car was also swapped from left hand to right hand drive to make it easier for the ladies’ man Hamill to chat up girls on the sidewalk while cruising. It boggles the mind how anyone could get a date driving this Hot Wheels-in-real-life monstrosity, but hey, the ‘70s were a weird time.
Dumb and Dumber – Mutts Cutts Van
In Dumb and Dumber, Harry (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd (Jim Carey) travel from Rhode Island to Aspen, Colorado to deliver a “lost” briefcase. A good many of the miles are covered in Harry’s Ford Ecoline panel van customized for his work as a dog groomer. Like all committed dog groomers, Harry fitted his car with end-to-end shag carpeting, a nose, mouth (with tongue), ears, legs, and a tail. And that isn’t even the extent of the Mutts Cutts van, it also includes free samples of the most annoying sound in the world, plenty bottles of warm “beer,” and $200 car alarm. The duo ends up out of gas and desperate enough to trade the van for a minibike aka the perfect mode of transport for high-elevation mountain travel. What makes this one of the worst movie cars of all time? Just image the smell once you take it through the car wash…

2024 fic round up game
Ok let's go, thank you @littlechameleonguy for the tag
What fandoms do you write in?
Lately Dead Boy Detective, Kinnporsche, Love in the air, Shadowhunters, Glee there're other fandom I've few words jotted down but nowhere near finished stories
How many words have you published in 2024? around 96K as of today which is better than last year so I'll take that as a win, also on the bright side the year is not over yet...
What is your greatest achievement this year?
Surviving another year? Possibly not committing murder actually starting getting through the process and subtly send a FU to all of my mother's hopes of ever making a cute porcelain doll in gowns and frills out of me
What are your top three fics you’ve written this year? Every change you make (it's one small act of destruction) (Dead Boy Detectives, Payneland, canon divergence) marked as incomplete despite previously being marked as complete due to me caving into the wish of expanding this scenario even more, namely the NN didn't open a portal to Hell for Charles, no deal was made, so Charles ended up meeting most of the Endless on his quest to get to Edwin Put those glasses on, they'll see us as we have never been (Dead Boy Detectives, Charles & Edwin, pre-canon) The origin of their disguises and my take on why Edwin's is a woman and Charles' is a white man The next steps in the same old and dark world (Repo! The Genetic Opera, Graverobber/Shilo, post canon) Only het pair I've ever written, it was an assignment but I actually loved all the research and the final result. Basically what happens to Shilo after the end of the movie and how she ends up and grow in a relationship with the Graverobber
What have you learned? That spending time with chosen family helps me recharge. That I can get very attached to new friends especially when their freaks matches my freaks that most people will always see what they want to see, no matter how much a person is sweet kind, if they have a different idea of them that's what will stick. That love doesn't equal trust, I know my parents love me, but I've finally accepted that it doesn't mean I can actually trust them
What fic did you want to do but never made it off the ground?
At the moment historical/reverse verse where Charles is the one from the early 1900s and Edwin is from the 80s
Did you beta any fics? Any favs you want to shout out?
I do not beta for others, mostly because i'm a vibe checker/plothole poker kind of beta and the majority of beta needs fall under the spelling and grammar checks. In reverse most of my words are not betaed unless they are gifts or assignments (namely if I'm taking part in an event and want to make sure the receiver gets something they can enjoy with minimum amount of human errors)
What ideas are percolating for next year?
Hmmm difficult question the one, I hope to return to the mood of writing more in the SH Winged Protector series, there's lot of worldbuilding and lore going on in there and I love it, though I'm having trouble returning to the SH fandom. I have some thoughts of playing around with more rare-pairs in the DBD, I'm enjoying playing with cricketcat I would like to see more D/s themed stories so probably that will be something I'll dabble in Next year's Kadam week (even if I haven't yet posted this year's stories T_T)
Who do you want to thank? First of all my chosen family for being there for me, spending time with you is the best time I had in forever, can't believe it was only few months ago The Besotted Brats, rowdy bunch the lot of you, please never change you're amazing tag you're it ( but only if you want though): whoever else want to play! @unknownwritersblog @angelonpoison @highpriestessofjogan @cloudburst-ink @coleslaww @accal1a

Triple H, Shawn Michaels x Fem Reader- "Show Your Tits"
Many male professional wrestlers, especially ones from the past, were really ugly looking and not exactly pretty boys with a few exceptions, but even really ugly professional wrestlers (as well as hideous rock stars and rappers) have had female groupies.
However, there were some male professional wrestlers that were pleasant to look at and were hugely over with female fans due to their looks.
In professional wrestling lingo, "over" sometimes means something people really enjoy, though it also means letting the opponent win a match.
And in the past---in particular throughout the 20th Century--professional wrestling was sometimes usually something that was appropriate for prepubescent kids to watch, it was a family event.
And the World Wrestling Federation---the most famous professional wrestling company in the world and still is today but under a different name (the WWE)---was a kid friendly and family friendly company in the 1980's and even the early to mid 1990's.
So kid friendly, it was like a live action Saturday morning cartoon with Hulk Hogan telling kids to "say their prayers and eat their vitamins", the Ultimate Warrior being like a live action character from the 80's "Thundercats" or "He-Man", Hillbilly Jim playing a happy-go-lucky hillbilly, and especially in the mid 1990's when the World Wrestling Federation was making wrestlers play clowns, plumbers, garbage men, racecar drivers, baseball players, hockey players, ninjas, magicians, repo men, and the list goes on.
But...during the late 1990's, the World Wrestling Federation was becoming increasingly more for adults rather than for kids.
The atmosphere was darker, grittier and edgier, the matches became more violent and bloodier, profanity was being used in promos, women (and sometimes men) were more sexualized, and gimmicks went from being kid friendly to inappropriate for children, with having wrestlers play middle finger flaunting, beer guzzling rednecks, horror movie characters setting people on fire, porn stars, pimps, sex addicts, exhibitionists, women keeping a man as a sex slave, incestuous "Leave it to Beaver" parodies and a group of rebellious degenerates that pointed and thrust their crotches while shouting a vulgar catchphrase, made sex jokes, stuck the Canadian flag up their nose, and implied to be naked on television.
And the fans in the WWF by the late 1990's started changing as well.
Women were now flashing their breasts at these male wrestlers and shown on television doing this, although these women were planted fans put there.
And women especially flashed their breasts towards the most popular wrestling faction of the Attitude era, D Generation X.
Granted, some of those women that flashed their tits at them were planted fans rehearsed to do that, but no doubt there were some female fans that weren't plants flashing their naked breasts at them.
Even before D Generation X added the New Age Outlaws and X Pac and when Shawn Michaels left the group and before Triple H was asking those planted fans to flash their tits, there'd be female fans flashing their bare breasts at Triple H and Shawn Michaels when they was comprised as D Generation X, and this was the original late 1990's DX, not the late 2000's reboots.
You were a member of D Generation X in the late 1990's and fit in perfectly with the group, and you worked as a valet, where your job was to distract DX's opponents by seducing and flirting with them.
What you did to distract these opponents was sometimes flash your barenaked breasts.
Triple H and Shawn Michaels noticed those female fans who'd flash their tits at them, as well as you sometimes doing things like flashing your own tits at opponents.
At the beginning of 1998, before Shawn left the World Wrestling Federation, you were backstage with Triple H and Shawn, and you as well as those 2 weren't being filmed and broadcast for a WWF show episode or pay-per-view.
You, Triple H and Shawn were having some free time together where you as well as they didn't have to rehearse your lines for a promo.
Triple H and Shawn were both standing in front of you with smirks on their faces, and those 2 men both had their long hair hanging down.
Your back was in front of the wall while Triple H and Shawn stood in front of you, and Triple H had one of his hands pressed on the wall.
"You see those chicks in the audience flashing their tits at us?" Triple H asked you, his beady eyes looking into your eyes. "I wish you could do that to us, even though we've seen your tits many times"
The "us" Triple H was referring to was himself and Shawn Michaels.
"And got to play with them and suck them" Shawn added.
You weren't appalled by what they were saying, in fact, you smiled and giggled with this wicked shiteating grin on your face.
"If I wasn't a wrestling valet" you stated "I'd probably be those chicks in the audiences in the WWF and ECW flashing their tits at sexy male wrestlers"
"That's what I'm talking about!" Shawn said, nodding his head.
You actually started off as a planted fan in the audience before making your WWF debut, but sadly you couldn't flash your breasts in the audience because the WWF was still mostly kid friendly.
"Too bad WCW doesn't probably allow women to flash their tits" you frowned, pouting your lower lip and looking down at your feet. "WCW is family friendly wrestling"
Indeed, WCW was a family friendly wrestling company, even in the late 1990's when it was at the height of its popularity.
Speaking of being a wrestling valet...
"Even though you're a perfect fit for DX" Triple H mentioned with a smirk on his face. "I wish you were the valet for someone else so we could see you flash us your tits"
"I know" you whined, nearly stomping your foot.
You nearly wanted to departure from D Generation X at the end of 1997 because you were disgusted over them not attending the ten bell salute to Brian Pillman on "Monday Night Raw"---although that probably wouldn't be like the characters they play, as well as you were disgusted over Shawn Michaels wanting to win a match in England that Davey Boy Smith wanted to dedicate to his dying sister.
And Shawn and Triple H knew about you wanting to leave from them, you discussed it with them backstage.
"But you've seen my tits lots of times!" you brought up. "I flashed you my naked body in the locker room on TV once!"
"I know" Triple H mentioned, nodding his head.
Shawn remembers that too.
Pretty soon, in a WWF episode, you recreated Drew Barrymore's infamous and iconic breast flash where you stood on top of the commentary table, slowly swayed your body back and forth and exposed your bare naked breasts to who was at the commentary table and to the audience.
You also, on "Monday Night Raw", once shed your leather jacket you were wearing and showed off that you were wearing these nipple pasties where the letter "D" was covering one of your areolas and the letter "X" was covering the opposite areola, and Shawn and Triple H both stared at your chest and literally drooled over it.

GUTS! GUTS! GUTS!
This is the first blog post for GUTS! GUTS is a graffiti and punk inspired short film set to premiere at the 2025 Maine Mayhem film festival. This project takes inspiration from movies such as Good Time, After Hours, and Repo Man to create a truly unique and surreal project.
Quick Summary:
Guts starts a graffiti project with his friend that quickly turns sour once their spot gets busted. This leads him on an day long trek with many out of the ordinary encounters. This includes an eccentric trip to a dealers apartment, a scuffle with local skaters, accidentally drugging himself with stolen LSD, and crashing a “house party”. Can Guts get back and finish the graffiti, or will his actions get in the way?
The Proof of Concept:
youtube
Who we are:
Guts is being directed by Max Noyes, and produced by Emerson Dolan and Ashton Everett. Each post will be made by one of us and signed at the bottom so you know who is posting. This is currently being posted by Max so I will write a little intro about myself.
The Director:
Hello, I'm Max. A Maine native who has been passionate about working in film since I can remember. I have been attending SMCC for two and a half years now and am just finishing up with this project. It has been an exciting past few years and lots of growth has happened in the area of filmmaking. I am very passionate about music, movies, and video games. Speaking about music...
PUNK!
This film is inspired by the punk genre and community. I have been a punk fan for a few years now and am excited to be working on an original soundtrack with my good friend and producer Sam Orlando. The soundtrack is inspired by 80's punk and hardcore mixed with some hip-hop elements. I think that this music adds a natural drive to the movie that will keep the audience on their toes.
Fundraising:
The movie is funded through crowdfunding so go check out our indiegogo! There are some sweet perks available and it helps us get closer to premiering on screen.
And with that signs off our first post. Throughout the following weeks/months there will weekly updates on the progress of the film. This will include shooting days, soundtrack work, behind the scenes, bios, and more! I just want to also thank everyone for the tremendous amount of support and I hope that you are ready for GUTS as much as I am!
Thank you - Max

helloooo this is your santa!!! i hope you had a great weekend :)))
i'm happy you like johnny cash's album! to bo perfectly honest, i don't think i'd like this album as much as i do if it weren't live, as you said, it adds so so much to it.
i recommend count basie, he's my favorite big band director i think!! you should listen to his album prime time, and especially the music "bundle o'funk" which is, as said in the title, very funk with still old school jazz elements (it's my favorite music from the album) ; also "lady be good" by mel tormé (my fav jazz singer, he sure knows how to scat). if you want to listen to pre-60s jazz, i recommend count basie (again), duke ellington ; i love benny carter, zoot sims, wynton kelly, curtis fuller, to name a few :^)
that's also how i discovered rhps!! there are not many movies that run at a shadow cast i believe, at least i've never seen or heard about any other movie that way. oooh very 70s queer-coded movies i see ahah! my favorite movies are mainly the back to the future trilogy, we used to watch them on vhs with my brothers every summer, the three in a row. i guess i love them so much bc of nostalgia but also bc i think it's very well written and fun
how did you get into """old""" music? what/who was your first favorite band/musician?
see you later!
Hii! I hope you had a good weekend as well :D It really seemed to fly by lol
I listened to Prime Time and I really enjoyed it! Bundle O’Funk, The Great Debate, and Ya Gotta Try were all so fun, and I really loved Featherweight. I can definitely see me adding this album, and more of Count Basie’s work, into my regular rotation of jazz music :D I’ll also be sure to listen to Mel Tormé at work tomorrow!
My local cast actually put on a Shadow Cast performance of Shock Treatment, and it was amazing! I’ve heard of Repo! The Genetic Opera, Reefer Madness, and Dr. Horrible being shadow casted, but unfortunately they’re very uncommon. I’ve only heard of them being done at conventions, RKO Con specifically I think.
I’ve only seen the first Back to The Future movie, but I remember really liking it, so might have to binge watch the other two over winter break. :D
My parents played a lot of classic rock growing up, so I picked up a lot of music from them. I remember really liking the Beatles as a kid.
Once I got into middle school I kinda strayed away from older music. I mostly listened to emo, indie, vaporwave, and folk, but I did still have a soft spot for Pink Floyd.
It was only until early high school that I got back into older music. During lockdown I got really into Guitar Hero, and it got me back into a lot of 80’s bands like Talking Heads, DEVO, Squeeze. I also ended up getting back into The Beatles, mainly their late 60’s stuff like Sgt. Pepper’s and Abbey Road.
The way I got into 70’s music is kinda funny. I was looking up Roxy Lalonde on Pinterest (I hate to admit it, but I was a Homestuck fan), and a picture of Roxy Music came 14 year old me was like, “Woah!! Those guys look so cool!!!” so I started listening to them lol. From there I listened to whatever people in the YT comment sections recommended, and that led me down the prog rabbit hole.
How about you? How’d you get into older music? Also, I remember that you brought up Pink Floyd and the Beatles yesterday, what would you say are your favorite songs/albums by them? I hope you have a good night! :D

Indra's eindejaarslijstje 2020
• Name: Indra • Age: 29 • Job: admin/receptioniste in fysio praktijk
• Remember or forget 2020: forget 2020!
• Biggest surprise in 2020: Corona...
• In 2020 it was the first time that I: 80 baantjes kon zwemmen van 25 meter!

on racial equity in planning organizations
Solis’s focus for this paper is to argue that, “planners’ pursuit of racial equity by proposing that public planning departments’ internal rules and norms also reproduce racial inequity.” Through this, Solis breaks down her argument into three sections:
“I first discuss how the centrality of race in the United States requires planners to recalibrate how they envision their role in changing their communities”
“I draw on organizational theory to show that planning departments are organizations with racialized rules and norms.”
“I then offer racial equity in planning organizations (REPO) as a framework to think about and address these problematic inner workings.”
Focusing on racial inequity and the organizational structure of agencies/orgs stands out amongst racial equity literature that either focuses on DEI reports after the fact or literature that provides an overview of how racial equity is codified by law (and then used long range plans). Solis provides hopeful information, namely that “80% of long-range transportation plans of the 50 largest U.S. cities mention equity (DuPois et al., 2017). Ninety percent of small and large U.S. cities’ climate adaptation plans also mention equity (Schrock et al., 2015).” Therefore, it is clear that municipalities are working towards integrating equity into their plans and principles. However, the most salient point against these seemingly positive statistics is Solis’ argument that the “Planners’ apparent embrace of equity reflects the field’s tendency to approach the concept as a goal the profession can advance through its plans within and across cities.” While she does not go into the various streams of philosophy of equity that either supports her stance or the stances of U.S. cities — this is not the paper for that — this point is also my issue with how transportation equity is approached by municipalities and organizations.
Bolstered her own experience working in organizations in San Francisco, New York City, and Austin, TX, Solis introduces a framework called REPO (racial equity in planning organizations). Solis states, “As a framework, REPO holds that the inner workings of public planning departments can manifest racial inequities and that these inequities ultimately hamper their organizational efficacy in advancing their equity goals.” She goes on to add, “Second, to advance REPO, planners must assess their organizational strengths and weaknesses with regard to a racial equity initiative”, and “Third, REPO involves organizational learning. In this sense, an organization must formally commit to REPO; it is not a one-off initiative with a single champion.”
Solis provides a table following Ray (2019) called “How organizations' internal rules and norms reproduce racial inequity”,
The REPO framework reads to me as reflexive work that planning organizations need to be doing. And that this work resides before ahead of, and outside, work through Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices. In my experience, outside of strategic planning meetings, which tend to happen once every three years, there is little done regarding reassessing how the internal structure of an organization creates or inhibits success. I see the REPO framework as a veiled critique of how organizations lean on DEI to “infuse” equity and expect radical change. Solis admits that REPO is a newly formed framework, but also shares that there is a serious gap in planning literature that “investigate[s] racism and racial equity within planning departments.” Again, this article stands out from planning literature in its focus on racial inequity and organizational theory and has the potential to drawn in researchers who are thinking about racial equity in practice, but have also become wary of the over-reliance (?) of DEI.

Though I'm repulsed at the incoherent poo-flinging about $PATH in the comments, your Opinions on organizing local checkouts are Mostly Correct.
In the context of cloning a github repo, I typically have Opinions about what the path should be, e.g. let's pretend I want to fetch the source code for doom (...no relation to previous post)
---
the obvious solution is
~$ cd repos ~/repos$ gh repo clone id-Software/DOOM ~/repos$ cd DOOM ~/repos/DOOM$
Which isn't what I want, exactly, for two reasons.
First - that's not where I want the repo. I want my repos separated out to avoid name collisions e.g. what if I have two repos that are both called "test" - my own test repo and also one from a client? Or I want five different DOOM repos for the five different versions of DOOM I contribute to? (Example extremely contrived, work with me here)
so I don't want github.com/id-Software/DOOM cloned to
~/repos/DOOM
Instead I want it in
~/repos/id-Software/DOOM
...except that also isn't quite right because posix paths are case sensitive and I do not want to remember which arbitrary letters are upper and-or lower cased, so I make all my paths lowercased:
~/repos/id-software/doom
Now gh will do that for me no problem, I just gotta
~/repos$ gh repo clone id-Software/DOOM id-software/doom
...if I'm already in "repos" - otherwise I gotta use an absolute path:
~/some/folder/elsewhere$ gh repo clone id-Software/DOOM /repos/id-software/doom
but wait that's not what I wanted at all. Did you spot the typo? I usually do but not always.
What I want is that, no matter where I am, I can always just write
arbitaryPath$ gh repo clone OrGanIZAtion/PROject
and what will happen is
the cloning of exactly github.com/OrGanIZAtion/PROject
into exactly ~repos/organization/project
And I mean this is what shell scripts are for, right? Exactly this thing? I don't even have to be weird about it in my script - "gh repo clone" knows to error out if that final folder already-exists-and-isn't-empty
But then I'd have to write a shell script and I am exactly the kind of lazy that will take 10 minutes writing and formatting this post but not take 5 minutes to write a shell script because you have to "do it right" which means testing and versioning and bleblebleheleaefliaejfailjfwhy_am_I_LIKE_this.json
