#SundayFunday: This past week was quite busy for me. What did I do to past time away this afternoon?!?! Returned to Dyken Pond Environmental Educational Center with my parents for a nature walk. Stopped at Dyken Pond itself to view it in Its true beauty and checked out the boat house exterior before purchasing takeout from Grafton General Store & headed home. Last Saturday, we watched “Off The Record” perform at the “Music in the Trees” Concert Series here. Going on this walk helped me ease some stress, sadness, and glumness I felt from late last night-today (my singleness & not having the luck discovering that true partner for me that others have, my uncle’s mothers recent passing, & other factors that are beyond my control). The walk helped me relax a bit!! It was a nice weekend to immerse myself in nature & spend quality time with family. I hope you did your best to enjoy some needed quality time this weekend!! #FlashbackFriday & #OnThisDate: Happy “Flashback Friday” everyone!! Throwing it back to this day last year (7/2/2020) when “Soul Provider” opened the Town of Schaghticoke Summer’s Eve Concert Series. It had rained earlier that afternoon and once the rain passed through I drove to the concert site to attend their show. Unfortunately, yesterday’s show with “Soul Provider” didn’t happen due to the rain. Hopefully they’ll get another chance to perform some music again and the upcoming summer concerts don’t get rained out. #FBF & #OnThisDate: Happy Friday everyone!! On this date last year (5/7/2020) was distribution day for me at “The Eastwick Press”!! Although last year’s Tulip Festival was virtual and I never got to see the tulips at Washington Park, I got to see some Troy tulips instead during the end of my delivery run!! Towards the end of April 2021, I did get to see some early tulips at Washington Park with friends and hope to get back there again to check them out!! #HappySpring & #SaturdayFunday: Welcome spring & happy Saturday everyone!! Hope you enjoyed your 1st day of Spring!! Today’s work office brought me to Grafton Lakes State Park to cover their 1st of their 2 day “Maple Sugar Weekend” for work at “The Eastwick Press” @eastwickpress. I learned the history of the making of maple sugar/syrup, how the maple sap is tapped from maple trees, and the boiling process of turning the sap into sugar, syrup, and maple pieces!! I spent the remainder of the time after the session to walk on the park trails and check out a semi-frozen lake at the park beach on this nice day. A nice way to welcome Spring. “Maple Sugar Weekend” will occur tomorrow from 10am-2pm. I’ll be heading over to Windy Hill Orchards East @windyhillorchard_east tomorrow afternoon from 1-4pm to cover Brian Kane’s spring music show for work if you wish to join me!! And it’s free!! #SaturdayWorkday: Happy Saturday everyone!! Today’s office space for me was at the Berlin CSD covering their event, “Groundhog Dayzz”, for “The Eastwick Press”. Students & community members got to snow shoe, cross country ski, search for winter garden gnomes, stay warm near a large wooden fire, sleigh ride, and throw snowballs at one another!! Even these three snowmen got into the fun of enjoying a nice winter day with the community!! It was a nice day to be out and about in the community & it helped bring out a little sense of normalcy to the kids to enjoy some winter fun!! #TransformationTuesday: It’s surreal to see how things have changed in a year as I continue to share these “throwback” memories with you. On this date last year (12/8/2019) I was attending the “37th Annual Troy Victorian Stroll” with friends, listening to live music, standing in wooden barrels with Victorian Strollers, and enjoying the holiday festivities. The kickoff season to the “38th Annual Troy Victorian Stroll” I went to this past Sunday (12/6/2020) with friends was alright but it wasn’t the same. Not many patrons were out and about where we were at the River Street Market & Loft 433, taking part in the holiday festivities. We had to wear our face masks due to the pandemic, we did enjoy free hot chocolate from Mazzone’s Hospitality, and I got to hear Sax-O-Claus & Josh the Elf perform again with my friend, Jen Jenny!! Although the holiday spirit felt in Troy was present, it still wasn’t the same. It was sad to see how deep of an impact this virus has on all businesses and events this holiday season and in particular, “The Troy Victorian Stroll” that brings so many people together to celebrate and enjoy the holiday season. #SaturdayFunday: Happy “Saturday Funday” everyone!! What did you do on this warm, beautiful day? My Saturday Afternoon was spent at the Stephentown Veteran’s Memorial Park in Stephentown,NY. It was my 1st visit to the park and I covered a special unveiling ceremony for six new roadside historical markers that honor Stephentown residents who served in the American Revolutionary War. I also viewed the historical markers, several of the Park memorials, including a bench honoring the late NYS Senate Majority Leader, Joe Bruno, and watched this cool cannon launching demonstration done by local Revolutionary War re-enactors (see video clip). #ThursdayAdventures: Happy Thursday everyone!! I hope that the start to November has been good for you!! As you may or may not know, Thursday’s is distribution day for me at my job at “The Eastwick Press”! Today, however was a slight change to my routine as I covered a last minute flu vaccine drive at the Grafton Town Hall where residents and passerby’s got their flu shot done by the Rensselaer County Department of Health. I celebrated my end of distribution day by going to Muddaddy Flats @muddaddyflats in Troy,NY to buy a pulled pork quesadilla for the “7th Annual National Quesadilla Day” and walked through Franklin Alley to view the completed downtown mural completed by Joe Iurato & The Arts Center of the Capital Region!! It’s a cool mural to check out in person and a nice space to eat a meal too outdoors!! Thank you to my friend, Dan Frament for making my delicious quesadilla for me!!
