After a month of constant leaks and teasers, Oppo’s Ace2 is finally official in China. It retains the 90Hz refresh rate screen and 65W wired charging of its predecessor – the Reno Ace but brings the latest Snapdragon 865 chipset, 5G connectivity and the fastest wireless charging around at 40W thanks to the brand new AirVOOC charger. The Ace2 sports a 6.5-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. The panel comes with a punch-hole cutout in the top left corner for the 16MP selfie camera. Jumping to the back we find a circular cutout for the quartet of cameras, headlined by a 48MP main shooter. The accompanying modules are an 8MP ultrawide snapper, and two 2MP "portrait cameras", which is a fancy term for depth helpers. Under the hood, the Snapdragon 865 SoC is paired with 8/12GB RAM with the higher capacity being of the LPPDR5 variety and 128/256 UFS 3.0 storage. The 4,000mAh battery supports 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast wired charging which is plenty fast but what’s more impressive is the 40W AirVOOC wireless charger which Oppo claims can complete a full charge cycle in only 56 minutes. The actual charging pad has its own spinning fan to keep thermals in check and will be sold separately for CNY 249 ($35). The software front is covered by Android 10 with ColorOS 7.1 on top. Other notable features include Wi-Fi 6 and NFC and 10W reverse wireless charging. The Oppo Ace2 will come in purple, grey and silver colors with a starting price of CNY 3,999 ($565) for the 8/128GB model. The Oppo Ace 2 is already on the way. In fact, it is only mere hours away from its April 13 release, as evidenced by a swell of leaks, as well as officials, teaser, videos. The latest of these details the freshly brand-tweaked, “Reno”-less Ace 2’s display in quite a bit of detail. Including its 90Hz refresh rate. At the same time, we have also been keenly aware that Oppo’s upcoming, restructured lineup will include A-series devices. As per leaks, at the very least, an Oppo A21 and two other mystery devices - CPH2067 and CPH2069. One of which, perhaps the Oppo A72. Well, now the plot thickens even further, since a brand new, A92s was spotted on both an official-looking poster, as well as an MIIT certification page. There is this alleged image of the back of the A92s floating about online as well. It's kind of hard to miss, with its interesting camera module design.Aside from the immediately troubling question of that "s" appendix in its title, likely hinting at the existence of a vanilla Oppo A92, which we have heard nothing about thus far, there are other peculiarities with the device, as well. For one, there is the ominous "120Hz" writing, on the poster. Despite our best effort, we couldn’t really say for sure whether this refers to the refresh rate of the display or, the more plausible answer – its touch sampling rate. The text next to is a bit ambiguous. If any one of you guys can clear it up for sure, drop a comment. Don’t get us wrong though, while we would definitely enjoy a 120Hz display A92s device, this kind of does against the fact that the Ace 2, we mentioned earlier, will definitely have a 90Hz display. Oppo is expected to launch the Ace 2 5G on April 13, and yes, you read that correctly, the Reno moniker is gone from the name. The company has been heavily teasing the phone and now is has posted some more specs online. The Oppo Ace 2 will have a display with 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. The image posted by Oppo on Weibo also reveals second-generation 4D vibration and 4D internal cooling, whatever that means. These are specifications usually seen in gaming smartphones - like the Black Shark 3, nubia Red Magic 5G, or the ROG Phone II. However, Oppo VP Brian Shen confirmed on his profile on Weibo that this isn’t a phone for gaming - it is a flagship for gamers. Shen explained this means all the top-notch specs that one might want for online gaming, but also a phone acting as a regular daily driver that can take photos, look nice, and perform well over time. The Ace 2 specs have already appeared on TENAA, and we know the phone will have Snapdragon 865 chipset with a 5G modem. It will adopt the 65W Super VOOC 2.0 fast charging from the Reno Ace, but this time it will have mind-blowing 40W wireless fast-charging capabilities. The phone is now listed at JD.com, and the Chinese retailer uploaded the official renders of the phone, revealing at least two colors and three memory options. The Reno Ace 2 is coming with a Snapdragon 865 chipset, accompanied by a 5G modem. The memory combinations will be 8/128 GB, 8/256 GB, and 12/256 GB per the listing. Now, a prototype unit of the phone with the same PDHM00 model number managed to pass by AnTuTu revealing its Snapdragon 865 chipset and achieving a score of 560,217 points.
