Coty powder compact designed by Leon Bakst, Made by Coty Inc in Paris, France, 1935-1955.

The founder, Francois Coty believed the aesthetics of the packaging to be as important as the product. After his successful artistic partnership with designer Rene Lalique in the early 20th century, Coty approached Leon Bakst to design the Air Spun powder box. Leon Bakst is celebrated for his colourful exotic costumes and decors created for the Ballet Russes, which prompted new fashions in dress and interior decoration. This colourful, exotic aesthetic can be seen in the design of the powder box, where fluffy white powder puffs with black and gold handles float against an orange and gold background. Bakst’s original powder box design was made of Moroccan leather with gold leaf embossing. However, these boxes were expensive to manufacture and Coty paid his customers to return them when empty. They were then sent to Japan where the gold leaf would be scraped off and then reused. Bakst’s design was later modified into a cheaper cardboard version by Coty’s commercial artist Georges Draeger. The design of the packaging created an impression of luxury and prestige, while still being mass produced. These ‘luxury’ items were made even more accessible to middle and working class women by packaging them in small quantities and creating gift sets and co-ordinating product lines. Coty Air Spun powder was very successful, selling in Europe, North and South America, Australia and Asia. It was so popular in Asia that the ‘Rachel’ colour was created specifically for Asian skin tones. Coty is an internationally renowned beauty product and fragrance company that was founded in Paris in 1904 by François Coty. The company was acquired by the fragrance division of Unilever in 2005. In 2010 Coty had it’s headquarters in New York City and had become the world’s largest manufacturer of mass-market fragrances, aligning many of its new fragrances with celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, David and Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez and Calvin Klein. the last film i watched was saltburn! all the fuss about the movie really drew me in but oh my god it's so much more than barry keoghans penis, i swear. not nearly as weird and horny as everyone was making it out to be but there are definitely some weird horny moments in there (big fan personally). really really loved the 2000s uk vibe too, im pretty sure they filmed on actual film too? loved it.

currently not reading anything fun unfortunately. im knee deep in 'understanding and using challenging educational theories' by karl aubrey and alison riley. absolutely riveting read.

Are you aware that you have some of the best sound effects and acting that I've heard in podcasts? Because normally they don't really give me chills or induce fear or make me uncomfortable (they do, but less in the plot way), but the entire time I listened to episodes 10 and 11pt1 I was on edge? Like, it felt so real: Sunny's terror and pain, them being stalked in the halls by some primordial monster, the claustrophobia and heat inside the caves and hotel respectively, the ammonites crawling and writhing ever closer and closer until it felt like they were going to crawl into my throat and crush it. Just. Wow.

Rene Russo, Don Johnson, and Kevin Costner in Tin Cup (1996), photographed by Russell Boyd. Russ was born in Victoria, Australia, and has 82 cinematography credits from a 1969 short to a 2018 video. He is an Oscar winner for Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (an entry among my best 1001). His other entries are Gallipoli and The Year of Living Dangerously. This is his second honorable mention, after White Men Can't Jump.

His other notable credits include Picnic at Hanging Rock, The Last Wave, Tender Mercies, Crocodile Dundee, Crocodile Dundee II, In Country, Liar Liar, and Doctor Doolittle.

With its often clunky acting, gratuitous nudity, and marginal production values, Massacre at Central High looks like a standard exploitation flick. And knowing that writer-director Rene Daalder's mentor was the master of exploitation flicks, Russ Meyer, only goes to confirm that first impression. The film's teenagers are played by actors in their mid-20s; there is a sappy musical score with an inane song over both the opening and closing credits; the visuals* reflect the tightness of the film's budget. The setup is familiar: A new student comes to a high school where the student body is harassed by a group of bullies. When he stands up to the bullies he is seriously injured. So he decides to take revenge by offing the bullies, one by one, in imaginative ways. But murder will out, and in the end he is hoist with his own petard -- literally. And if Massacre at Central High had stuck to that formula, it could have been the conventional exploitation flick. But Daalder takes things a step further, adding some provocative and intelligent twists to the tale. The revenge plot doesn't end with the protagonist, David (Derrel Maury), taking care of the bullies. Once he's done that, the bullied students become bullies themselves, and David has to deal with that unforeseen problem. And for the better part of the film, we never see an adult authority figure, a parent, a teacher, or a school administrator. David takes their role on himself. It's an adolescent's dream world turned nightmare. Even at the end, the adults who do appear, at an improbable "Student-Alumni Prom," are ineffectual -- they seem to be the students' grandparents -- and in danger of becoming victims of David's planned massacre. The film takes an unrelentingly harsh view of human nature: It's often compared to William Golding's 1954 novel Lord of the Flies and the films made of it by Peter Brook in 1963 and Harry Hook in 1990, and considered a precursor to the movie Heathers (Michael Lehmann, 1989). I don't think Massacre at Central High quite measures up to that standard -- there's still a lot of cheesiness for the viewer to overcome -- but it's a kind of classic in spite of itself.

Claire having fun flirting with Alex even harder after discovering he is Assane in makeup. Only to later realize he is still as unreliable as ever when he doesn't show for the game. Understandable given the circumstances but still, even his Nike's fresh out the box can't stop him from retreading old patterns.

The ep title had me concerned that Lisa was going to marry Veggie and it being a very awkward trainwreck. So I was impressed it was still filled with so much second-hand embarrassment at the expense of poor Danny lol. I hope this gets a s2 and a wider audience. A non-sleeper hit.

I've read all of the books on my list (except for Kate Manne's upcoming book, which is pre-ordered), and 9 of the OP's list. With respect to them, that list is sadly lacking anything about fat women, and it's a little short of authors who aren't white American women.

I'd like my list to be more diverse, but I went back through 10 years of reading history and decided that was probably enough.

(Oh god, I miss doing RA. I'm a former public librarian and talking about books is still one of the best things ever. I didn't leave librarianship for the lack of loving books!)

Another of my favorite worlds

Ahh..Cladbridge on Stowe.  Another world by doublemedion694. This is another of the beautiful worlds I chose to send part of my culled population from Thicket. I wanted to send them to worlds that had a similar aesthetic so could logically be close to each other in the mystical Sim Universe..LOL!  Also I really, really love European Architecture.  Half Timber Tudor to be more specific! I set about placing down my families so in the next few pictures you may see some familiar faces!

Joel Spaulding got called away from his chess game to give a singing telegram to Rene Russ at the Cannon residence.  Somehow he managed to catch himself on fire and she just watched in amusement then peaced out of there!  LOL!!   Thankfully Darrel was at home so I switched households and he put out the flames.  

Man that was a close call!  I almost lost an OG Thicket townie on the first night!

There are a ton of pictures from this world because I wanted to check in on all my old Thicket sims so I’ll get around to posting a second part of this at some point!

I cannot help but wonder if Tuvok or Odo had been Chief of Security aboard the Discovery, would either of them had easily believe that Ash Tyler had sent a message to Captain Leland behind Christopher Pike’s back.  Or if either of them would have been even more suspicious.
