starting off strong, i really am a sucker for the 'two [ or more ] characters that one actor/actress plays are related on some level' concept and i believe mark and duke are cousins bc CAN U IMAGINEE

theyre cousins on their moms sides but their moms dont really get along due to differing views and ways of parenting, but mark and duke are pretty close. theyre each others favourite cousin

mark and karen are both gay in opposite directions but they were very close friends growing up due to overlapping social groups (their parents, church groups, most likely abstinence camp goers, etc), and because of their respective families and being unable to be true to themselves, they got married and had grace very early after they graduated highschool

mark loves karen very much, but purely platonically. he is the type to tease her, sometimes poke fun at her, and he respects her immensely! they both work insanely well as a duo, and they hold down the fort of their picket fence home extremely well, but they are not in love

he n karen live a very domestic life, they can even be pretty physically affectionate at times [ hugs, cuddling, kisses to the head, cheeks, hands even ] and share quick 'i love you's before separating for the day, but something about it was always just slightly askew from romantic love and affection

he truly does love his daughter, he loves grace s o fucking much, but he n karen didnt have many positive role models to base themselves off of parenting-wise, therefore carrying a lot of fabricated truth into their relationships both separately and together with grace

As someone who have literally witnessed this, your feelings are beyond valid. I love u so much. Preacher’s daughter and everything you have ever made mean so much to me and they are literal masterpieces. Honestly, i mostly like the jokes in hopes of them reaching a bigger audience simply because i love u and i h8 how rare it is to find ethel stans in real life who know the lore and obsesses over it as much as me. And sometimes one reel could be the spark that starts all that. Giving u more streams and hopefully more money to fund more projects and hopefully physicals because i NEED IT. Is that selfish? Probably. Does it come with negatives? Absolutely. Is it worth it? As a barb first and foremost I think it totally is. Nicki is such a perfect example. Because she decides how seriously to take us. And treats the fans as literal children when they go crazy yet we always feel like we can joke with her and always appreciate her genius work all together. I feel like it’s something that all public figures have to deal with once famous enough and cannot be avoided.

I can never understand how you personally feel about this from your pov, and all the comments u receive but i find its very important and healthy for u to just simply filter these unserious people out whenever youre not in the mood and like. Log off. Or move to a different platform like nicki with queen radio which was literally the point of these radio shows that have now become as simple as ig lives. Not everybody has the energy to keep up with those esp if theyre boring in the beginning or maybe just stick more to tumbler or alt accounts whenever u want to discuss your art and those who care WILL be there to give u every ounce of support. But honestly these jokes are just another way of showing support and love. To these people and meme pages this is charity and their way of helping u gain more global attention and success which we all believe you deserve because of the greatness of your art. Whether u agree or disagree. I really appreciate the new album title and hope it shoos away the unserious children. But it is what it is. While we who care about u most will take these rants very seriously, those same people you complained about wont even read it. So yeah. Try these things. When u see something blown out of context yell at us in a simple story. When u wanna get serious, simple address the fans seriously just like a parent does. This way u ensure control over the fandom and maintain mutual respect and support! Those of us who love u wont go no matter how much u cuss us out. So let your emotions out. And we will always try to make fame a more pleasant experience. But as we all know its a curse. That also comes with benefits. Not saying this just as a barb, but everybody envies the relationship we have with nicki. She was literally in the middle of the street with fans surrounding her and she was doing a better job than crowd control + cops. And i know you are as great and as capable of such things despite how difficult it may seem. Keep reminding yourself that you have all the power over us. I thought about making a video on this topic but I decided to just write it out in a post instead. Either way, I'd like to speak a bit more specifically about a drunk rant I made on a separate account the other day that was not as well put together as I'd like to stand as my viewpoints on the subject.

tl:dr, I just feel as though there's a lack of sincerity in the world these days. I speak from personal experience as an artist putting things out into the world, yes, but also as a human being interacting with other human beings on the regular, and I have had my sentiments echoed by many other friends of mine over the past year or so, both artists and non-artists alike. Most of this will be framed through the consumption of art, because that's my own personal passion in this life of mine, but also the way we interface with each other and process the world around us. Now, don't get me wrong, I love to laugh. I love a good joke, and I love lightheartedness as much as the next person. But I saw someone this morning put it very succinctly in response to my rant, something along the lines of "don't let the joke about it overtake the source material." It feels as though it's a common occurrence these days to take a pinch of something with a lot more weight to it, often a humorous bit, and then run with it. Everyone then gathers around the pinch to ooh and ahh and consume it as a whole. Context is immediately lost, the legacy of that body of work becomes its own caricature, and anyone discovering that body of work via said caricature may forgo a piece of art they would otherwise love because "there's nothing there". And don't think this is me griping at those making jokes at the expense of my art. I make jokes about my own art. But when the joke dies, yet continues to grow, and spread, and finds its way back to me both on the internet and off for months (or, God forbid, years) to come, I can't help but say to myself; what the fuck is happening. Artists have fled the public and all their outlets for personality and expression outside the medium because they feel ridiculed. It's not even just their art. Katya comes to mind, speaking on how she went on youtube live a few years back in literal tears talking about police brutality and the injustices marginalized communities were facing at the hands of the government. Meanwhile, the entire comment section "yass" and "mother"ed her in barrages, not paying attention to anything she had to say. I get asked about when I'm dropping Preacher's Daughter vinyl en masse in response to my Palestine fundraiser links. It's everywhere and it's inescapable. No one can be serious for even two seconds.

This may all sound obnoxious; so be it. I tie strings from this central problem to many other complaints I have heard repeated ad nauseam the past few years. For example; the death of subculture. Goth, punk, whatever, you name it. People who built an underground counterculture movement with a rich history based on a love of art, community, and otherwise misunderstood worldviews and experiences deemed foul or inappropriate. Now we see bits taken from it, the terms and the looks, without any of the meat, spread thin across society as a whole. Words mean nothing anymore. One can rest on history and say they were a part of it when in fact, they did nothing. No appreciation or understanding to be had for the love and passion that built it. No serious interaction with the culture's very real confines and boundaries, just mindless co-opting. This has just as much to do with late stage capitalism as it does with excessive humor in lieu of sincerity, but it's certainly both. Again, this may sound like a silly complaint, but I don't care. The collective ennui we're all experiencing has a very real reason, whether we're ready to acknowledge or not.

In a twisted thread, it's even tied to our lack of care to change the world around us. People cheer on the idea of communism, but who among us is ready to give up the convenience of society as it stands? Amazon prime, doordash, fresh fruit out of season as I saw someone mention in a similar post last week; the marvels of modern technology. Do we really think these things can last in a society that isn't actively destroying the planet? We talk about the idea of something all day long but have very little to do with the actuality of what we're talking about. And don't think I consider myself exempt from this problem. I couldn't even try to claim to be. It seems nearly silly to be complaining, then, about the way people consume the art around them these days as we creep towards what feels like the end of days. But as long as I still draw breath, I must complain.

I miss genuine passion. As an autistic individual, when I'm alone, sometimes I cannot contain myself with how things make me feel. The music I listen to, the video games I play, the books I read. I almost feel the need to run through the house and scream in everyone's face how I'm feeling. It feels good to love intensely. Now, I won't pretend like autistic people haven't been bullied for this since the dawn of time, but there is surely a noticeable lack of passion in everything these days. Everyone can feel it, everyone is talking about it. Everything now is "cringe", or "doing too much", or "not that serious". Actually, it is that serious. Insecurity in one's own deeper feelings may not be a new thing, but a culture that seems to promote this eschewing of them does seem to be a new evil. The tone of the internet has completely shifted. I spent most of my time here when I first discovered it a little over a decade ago on Zelda forums and other chat-based websites, talking about how much I loved whatever fandom I was in at the time and having genuine and memorable interactions with like-minded individuals who felt the same way I do. Now, you have two options; if you hate media, you rip it to shreds, and if you love it, you word-salad it to death and parrot a joke about it that someone else said. I'm not saying people don't still talk seriously in a heartfelt way about the things they love, but it does not seem to be the initial reaction anymore. Do I have a solution to this problem? Of course not. I'm a 26 year old girl posting on a tumblr blog. If I had a solution, this is not where I would be dropping it. But conversation is God to man, and I believe in the ability to change things from the inside out. We make the rules, and we can change them.

Before I go, I'd like to just clarify that I am very grateful for my career, grateful to anyone who has ever given me and my art the time of day, grateful to anyone who has ever come up to me and connected with me over my work, and grateful for a life where someone making too many jokes is the worst part of my day. I do not think I am better nor smarter than anyone on or off the internet. I am simply a girl with big feelings and I enjoy talking about them with other people with big feelings, and it makes me sad when something avoidable or unnecessary gets in the way of that.

All in all, I love to love, and I love all of you, I love my life, I love this record, and mi amore vo- i mean.... oh, whatever.

idk, writing on how i'm not sure glitchtrap is william

Here are some rambles about how I don't think Glitchtrap is William but more of a mimic. The thing is that no side was clearly taken by the games. I wish there were cause it seems important, but you know...

There's a quote from HandUnit that says that they recreated personalities from the past. "Using proprietary technology developed by Fazbear Entertainment, our VR development teams were able to use vintage control board, almost like plug and play, digitally recreating performances and personalities from the past in an instant."

Which hints towards what Glitchtrap might be. He's treated as a glitch, a virus, something that invited himself but also grew stronger by himself as if he was an unfinished code and finished his own coding.

It's also worth looking into Glitchtrap's design. It doesn't really look like Springbonnie, does it? It has resemblances, sure, but it is also very different. In fact, it looks like someone tried to draw the bunny from memory but like, very fuzzy memory. You know, as if someone saw a picture once and tried to recreate it. In fact, Glitchtrap does look more like the Springbonnie posters from Security Breach.

A little step aside, I'd like to point out that Glitchtrap isn't the first virus in FNAF. Remember Lolbit? That's a virus - a very bad one, but it acts like one and it doesn't have a physical body. So there's a possibility that William might have tried to "clone" himself as an AI - in his goal of being immortal or some shit - but didn't have time to finish it. This could explain why Glitchtrap knows so much about William without being William.

Ok, back to the subject. Throughout Help Wanted, Glitchtrap is said to be observing. Learning. And this is a theme that goes on a lot.

“I saw it for the first time today. There was a character, I couldn't make out who it was, standing at the end of the hall. I thought it was just bugged out, so I made a note of it and kept playing. But then it was looking in the window. And not like Chica or Bonnie would. It was like it was actually looking in the window, seeing what I was doing.”

Only after you're done getting all the tapes and beating the game, you have access to Pizza Party which is a very different level. It's an amalgamation of everything. As if Glitchtrap is connecting to William's memories.

The first time I saw Pizza Party, I thought it was Glitchtrap pridefully showing the player what he knows. But you could also assume that he's trying to copy William. In other words, what if he's not trying to show the player, but rather he needs to recreate William's crimes? As a step closer to be him.

Then there's that one thing from the fake mails (of FNAF AR) that's bothering me. "One day you're researching flowers and the migration patterns of bees (fascinating, right?) and the next day you type in 'How far can a human being be cut in half before losing consciousness.' "

Which is something you'd think William would already know and wouldn't have to look up on google. But Glitchtrap, who isn't human in the first place, wouldn't know. He doesn't have any idea about how human works.

In the CDs from Security Breach, you have "two" Vanessa. The one who answers and the one who does not. If you pay attention, you will notice that the Vanessa who talks back is the real one and the Vanessa who does not talk is Glitchtrap.

The Vanessa who does not talk reacts a lot. And she goes through a lot of sensory issues. First, there's the sun too bright, the chair not comfortable enough, the smell of the flower, the taste of the candy. Which is something you could both attribute to someone who didn't experience sensory in a long time and to someone who's never had them.

It's also worth noting that the real Vanessa doesn't want the candy whereas the other one seems to really be enjoying it. There's also Vanny's chasing animation which is... very funny. But also it's not very human-like? It looks a lot like some old cartoon character chasing you. Which is something that has been very much associated with Glitchtrap before, all the friendly cartoony movements (such a the wavings and the little dance). So definitely Vanny chasing you is Glitchtrap in control.

But then there's also that Security Breach canon ending that doesn't make sense (due to the obvious lack of parts that was supposed to be there before. It's like a whole chapter got deleted.) I'm not going to talk about how stupid I think that Burntrap still exists when it has been burned down to the ground with everything else... What I don't understand is how it'd be a good idea to go back to that... scraps that is just gonna break down on itself. However, if Glitchtrap's whole purpose is to mimic and maybe replace William, he's gonna want to be him in what's left of his body - even if it's not a reliable idea.

Oh! and let's not forget about the Afton Family bots in the sewers! You can take it the way you want, but the way I see it still feels like recreating a picture. Like trying to be closer to the person Glitchtrap wants to be but he didn't know the Afton family.

They're not human-looking, they've been recreated with - I can't find the exact term - pictural codes? Like the way children will draw a house: a triangle on a rectangle.

Which is very fortunate for us to determine which robot represents who: the headless for Crying Child, the pigtail hair for Elizabeth, the fancy outfit for William, etc.

Lastly, there's also the thing where William is literally stuck in hell with Cassidy.

But also it would be better because you can only make a character come back so many times. At some point, it'll get old and boring.

Okay so I know how this is gonna sound but that’s NOT how I mean it because I absolutely think Linda and Yoko are physically attractive ppl (and I would personally die for linda), but isn’t it interesting that both John and Paul ended up being with women who don’t perform/present as traditionally feminine? Even with some of their features that aren’t necessarily soft and “feminine.” Yeah anyway I mean this with the utmost respect, peace and love ✌🏽

I agree that its really interesting that they both ended up with “unconventionally attractive” wives - or at least, women who didn’t tend to perform to the expectations of femininity, with things like shaving or wearing makeup etc. Stella McCartney talks about her mum’s confidence in this video (x - around 6:57) and i just love what she has to say about her (“what a woman”)

Your ask also reminded me of this quote (x) from Caitlin Moran, where she talks about the sort of r-e-s-p-e-c-t john and paul held for women, and how they “rioted into their femininity”. Ive said before that it is an idealistic interpretation of the beatles and their relationships with gender, and i still believe that - but i do also think that there is a lot of truth to her claim, and that it is fascinating that both john and paul went with girls who were a little “unusual” (and i of course dont mean that derogatorily).

I also just find it super cool that they both ended up with women who firstly, challenged physical gender conventions (as mentioned above) - but secondly, who were working, divorced, single mothers. I know people have called out paul for being kinda backwards with his ideas on family dynamics and stuff - for example, wanting jane and linda to stay home rather then work - and im not suggesting that theres no validity to those claims or that its not a discussion worth having. But at the same time, its just cool to me that they married girls who werent really a part of the “picture-perfect-english-nuclear-family” which i presume wouldve been largely expected from them.

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about William on Supergirl from fellow Supercorp shippers, so I wanna talk a bit about Kara and Lena’s love interests and how they are viewed, and also about racism in the show and fandom. This has probably been done to death but I’m new to the fandom — I binge watched the show over the winter and just started using Tumblr in a real way about a month ago. So anyway, back to the men:

There’s the major three: James, Mon-El, and William. Jack is cool too — he should’ve had more than two episodes which is part of the issue I’m going to get to, but he never got to be a major player.

So let’s talk about James. Now, I liked him a lot, particularly in season 1. Of the three main love interests for Kara, he was the only one who (season 1) writers took time to establish as a character separate from her. He had hopes and a backstory (of course), and his own idealism that usually uplifted and sometimes contradicted with Kara’s. He was honest, and vulnerable, and when he made a mistake (like calling Superman against Kara’s wishes) he grew from them. Because he respected Kara, and himself. Now the chemistry between Kara and James for me felt good — it wasn’t earth shattering — but it was typical in what I’d come to expect from a heterosexual pairing. And I would argue that had the writers not done a complete 180 on Kara’s feelings for James in S2 and had let them keep growing together as characters, that the chemistry and relationship could have been really good. But they didn’t because as the writers themselves said, they’re ‘in the drama business.’ So having a healthy, supportive partner for Kara wasn’t their priority, James was sidelined, and then they never figured out what to do with his character from that moment on. Also, I do think that race played a part in the writers’ decision to change direction with their relationship, and it’s...disheartening.

Now real briefly on James with Lena: it reminded me a lot of Laurel 1 and Oliver — when they talked about each other to other people— I believed that there was love, but when they were together, I didn’t see any real spark. Even their drama wasn’t particularly interesting — so I won’t even get into it. But it’s been long enough in this post for me to get to the point of it: the fault of the deterioration of James as a character lies with the writers. They chose to sideline him, have his values constantly shift, and have his character development stagnate post S1. He could’ve had interesting stories as Guardian, could’ve worked more closely with Kara when he replaced Cat Grant, or any number of things. But his potential was squandered. And if they were so dead set on having a male love interest for Kara, he was their best option of the three.

Mon-El and Kara had chemistry. To me, it was very much sibling chemistry in nature, which is kind of funny considering that in the comics he was a pseudo brother to Superman. To be clear I’m talking about Kara and Mon-El and not Chris and Melissa who are married, because they aren’t their characters. That’s how I think he should have stayed — as an antagonistic, shallow brother type who slooowly became decent through character growth and not specifically to become Kara’s love interest. But the handful of times Mon-El did the right thing — rebelling against his parents, trying to be a hero etc. it was because he liked Kara. How boring is that? As a love interest he was subpar — and he continued to be a liar. I don’t hate him like some fans do — and I’m well aware that he was a shallow partner who owned other people on his planet, and a habitual liar. I also see that this show is fantastical in nature where I am rooting for Lena after nearly mind-enslaving the entire population just last season. And also in a universe where a primary hero — Oliver Queen, was a serial killer (as are Laurel 2, Sara Lance, and Mick Rory to name a few). So that isn’t the main reason why I don’t like Mon-El for Kara. I just feel as early Kara felt: She deserves so much better than him.

What is there even to say about William? He’s essentially the audience in character form — the chorus in an Ancient Greek play telling us how we should feel about whatever action he’s being sidelined from. If they wanted him to be endgame, he should’ve been introduced bare minimum a season earlier to give him a fair shot. He needs to be better integrated in the fold, and at this point there isn’t a lot of time to do that well.

I’m making this post though because I don’t agree with some of what I’m seeing in fandom. Yes, I too dislike Mon-El as a love interest for Kara, but I’m not going to yuck someone else’s yum. Same goes for William and James. If you see something romantic, that’s okay. If you’re a multi shipper, that’s okay too. I was into other Arrowverse shows when Karamel and Supercorp animosity was at its highest and saw some of what went on and now I see some people uniting over their mutual dislike for William. But his underdevelopment as a character is once again entirely on the writers and execs. Not Staz Nair. We shouldn’t be tearing down actors of color or characters of color out of frustration over (potentially/hopefully) queer (white) characters. We should instead be asking for them to have more well rounded stories, just as we ask for better LGBT rep — the two aren’t separate. If Supercorp doesn’t become canon it won’t be because of the subpar heterosexual romances they were given. It will be because the writers see the love story they’ve created, inadvertently or otherwise (even doubling down on it in S5) but chose to ignore it. I really hope that isn’t the case. Us fans deserve more complex, messy slowburn romances, and Supercorp could be up there with She-Ra as one of the best ever portrayed. Here’s to hoping.

On Tragedy vs. Bad Endings

So I have a lot of thoughts about this very subject, and too much for the replies on my post, so allow me to try to articulate what I mean, and what a lot of us mean when we say “it does not make sense for either Jon or Martin to turn evil in the end,” even in a show that has been advertised from day one as a tragedy.

First of all, no one thinks this is going to end happy. The few who do are usually unaware that this show is billed as a tragedy, and are quick to be corrected. I didn’t know it was a tragedy until I was on season 3 and someone told me. It’s overall just best to assume that the OP knows it’s not going to be a happy ending, because “reminding” people or “explaining” to people that the ending is going to be sad is a fast way from people to get annoyed and defensive.

Anyway! It appears, above all, that people have either fundamentally different ideas of what a tragedy is or accomplishes, or that people have a fundamentally flawed understanding of tragedy and it’s place as a narrative device/theme.

My thoughts are that tragedies hurt, and tragedies can be devastating, but they have to have a message and they should not be cruel to the audience.

A cruel ending would involve leading the audience to believe one thing for the entire book, show, movie, podcast, what have you, just to rip it away at the last minute like a big “fuck you” to the audience. Those sorts of endings are inherently mocking of the audience, and ultimately disrespectful. The only people in the audience that “benefit” from this sort of writing are the cynics who spent the entire show talking down to everyone for seeing the silver lining in the impending tragedy, even if, up until the finale, the silver lining was always part of the narrative. Like it took actual twisting and outright ignoring of the narrative as it’s written to be cynical and sceptical all the way until the end.

That is, plain and simple, bad writing. Jonny Sims is not a bad writer.

Now tragedies often have “happy endings,” they just also have an element of sadness colouring that ending. A good, tragic ending should, in my opinion, feel bittersweet. We should see it coming, we should know it will hurt, but it should be for the greater good and should further the narrative that has been told from the beginning.

I said a few weeks ago that a tragic ending without a silver lining is just torture porn, and I stand by it.

Now, if Jon or Martin are revealed to be Actually Evil in the end, where is the silver lining in that? What narrative has even possibly hinted at this outcome, without putting on cynic glasses?

Every single plot point and plot “twist” in TMA has been clearly detailed, never relegated to pure subtext that you would have to comb through a single interraction and analyzing the tone in which it was said (which could easily be actor shortcomings or error). They have always been obvious, at least in hindsight. This is why, for a while, I subscribed to the Web!Martin theory, but due to recent episodes I’m more inclined to believe those “obvious things” were red herrings.

Throughout The Magnus Archives, the common theme in every. Single. Season finale is that “we are stronger together.” What do I mean by that? Well, here’s the general idea:

Season 1: The one time someone gets separated by the group for any significant length of time, like I mean the main group, she gets killed by the NotThem and replaced.

Season 2: Jon is alone, due to his intense paranoia and his reluctance to reach out for help. This leads to a disastrous series of events that leaves him a suspect of murder, and his friends even more doubtful of his character.

Season 3: In the episode just before they deal with the Unknowing, Jon literally says that isolation was his downfall, and he was going to work on trusting his friends more. When they got separated during the Unknowing, things went to shit. When they found each other again, they were able to rally and they “succeeded.” Conversely, they are also teamed up with Melanie and Martin who hung back to bring down Elias. They were successful, working as teams on separate objectives, etc.

Season 4: This is, by far, their most “successful” feats while simultaneously their least. The whole season was again showing the downfalls of isolation. In the season finale, Jon has Basira and Daisy’s help, and while bolstering himself with their strength, and the strength in his conviction to save Martin to be with Martin, Jon was successful in stopping Peter Lukas and saving Martin. Conversely, Martin and Jon’s isolation in Scotland could be, theoretically, implicated in how Jonah Magnus was able to succeed in the end like that.

Now evidence of this same train of thought in season 5? Jon literally says it: Gertrude would not have done well in this post-apocalyptic world, because she had no friendships, no anchors, no reason to stay human. And then Jon says “you are my reason” to Martin.

It is in the text of the story that the only way to succeed, or win, or survive, is through trust, friendship, and love. One of the main factors in so many of the statements, on why the statement givers succumbed to the fear in their story, for even a moment, had to do with very little personal ties to anyone else. Many of the statements feature isolation and, as Jon put it, “lack of corroboration.” On the flipside, many of the statements that ended with the statement giver escaping successfully, and surviving long enough to be reached out to for follow-up questions, involved them having close personal ties to someone else that kept them safe, somehow. Like the girl from Italy; remembering her mom saved her from the Lonely. Or, more ridiculously, the guy and his dog that escaped the spiral because he was so distracted by his dog and had to be home for dinner. In MAG170, it was Martin’s love for Jon, and his trust in the love from Jon and his friends, that saved him from the Lonely again. Jon’s incredible amount of love, and respect, and trust in his friends is what’s kept him from becoming another Jared Hopworth or Jude Perry. In MAG155, Cost of Living, he expresses open disgust in how that particular avatar of The End justified her actions, killing and killing and killing again because she viewed herself as more worthy of life than that person. In that same episode, he talks of not blinding himself because he hopes to use his powers to protect his friends, that without them they’re too vulnerable. Honestly, this is the same reason Peter Lukas is unsuccessful, because Martin only helped him at all to protect his friends. The fact that he didn’t see his failure coming was hilarious.

Gerry said in Family Business that there is no “entities of love”, and that might be true, but love and trust is literally what saves you from fear. How many of us deal with things that are scary in our lives, if only because we have some level of trust in the people or things around us. How many of us have been brought out of a panic attack by someone we love and trust?

So all of this has been presented to us, over and over and over again, which is what I, and others, mean when we say “it does not make sense for one of them to be evil.” That’s what we mean when we say “it would be Bad Writing to make one of them evil in the end.” The entire show has driven home the message that we need love, we need personal connections to survive fear. To rip that away from the main characters at the last minute and call it “tragedy” would be a spit in the face of every single listener who took the story at face value, without picking it apart and reading lines out of context. And Jonny Sims and Alex J. Newall have both said they hate lazy writing.

Now, none of the JonMartin fans I follow are deluding themselves to think this show will have a happy ending outside of very self-indulgent fix-it au fanfics.

The way I see this going down is that Jon and Martin will figure out how to put the world back to the way it was, but Jon will not be able to be part of the new world with Martin. That’s the tragedy; that the world gets saved, and Jon helps save it, but he doesn’t get to benefit from his efforts in any way. The tragedy is Jon loves Martin so much, and they deserve their happy ending, but they don’t get it. But, they still saved the world so others can have their happy endings.

Idk about you, but between the “Jon turns evil in the end” and “Jon stays good and sacrifices himself to save the world” endings, only one of them has me in tears right now as I type this out, and it’s not the former.

I’m not against sad endings,I’m against bad endings that punish the audience for having even a bittersweet hope. I’m against sad endings that are just sad for the sake of being sad, with zero pay-off or reason to happen, especially when those endings throw out 5 years of hard work.

And hey, I might just be forced to eat my words in the end, but not before I fly all the way to England and make Jonny Sims eat a knuckle sandwich.

My problem with unus annus

This is gunna be long and problematic, i can tell already, all i ask is please be respectful of me and other people who share my opinion on the matter

So i very very much dislike the content and context of Unus Annus. The meaning itself, the message, the creators, the fan base, the art, the ships, the numbers, everything. So lets get started and unpack this a little bit. Im gunna start off by saying probably one of the things least wanted to be heard, mark (markiplier) has defended a nazi and anti-seminist and has in the past displayed some racist behaviors himself. Now this of course, was in the past, but in my eyes, if you never apologized or recognized it was wrong or even addressed it then its still very much part of the present and future. If you have shown you have changed and acknowledged what you did was wrong then the past is.. the past, but mark hasnt, so his past is the present for me in this case. For another thing, the channel as a whole, while intended to be dark has a kind of “death aesthetic” that just- rubs me the wrong way. Im completely for acknowledging and accepting death as part of life but the way they treat it... it just feels wrong to me. Now the next thing “memento mori” which i have been told essentially means “dont take any moment for granted” this seems to be the whole setup of thr channel, embrace life for death is inevitable. This is what bothers me the most and is one of the things that is downright triggering for me in some cases. I have depression, i have been diagnosed with depression and its not just light depressive thoughts, i am constantly bogged down with it and have a great deal of pain accompanying it. I cannot count the amount of times i have been told im taking my life for granted, that im lazy, that im just wasting my life, etc etc, snd i guarantee a lot of the community has had similar experiences (i of course do not speak for everyone with depression though) to be told to not take our lives for granted is a slap in thr face on top of all the pain and suffering we experience. We dont just choose to be sad, we dont choose to spend the entire day sleeping because we feel like it. We do it because its the only thing we have the capacity to do sometimes and thats ok, but society loves to tell us that we’re just wasting time and we should “just get up and do something!” Momento mori, while wonderful sentiment, is really damaging to me and people like me who already deal with big feelings wr cant always handle, we now have to listen to how we’re just wasting our time and we shouldnt be taking our time for granted.

Now my next point is that death is a really reallt triggering topic, along with loss, the feeling of time slipping away, basically the entirety pf unus annus can be incredibly triggering. When i see art of unus annus just floating around on WA i get immediately panicked and all of my fears come rushing at me. I understand this is the point of the channel in some peoples eyes, its to remind us that time is limited etc etc. but some of us cannot handle that reminder constantly, i already have a massive fear of time slipping away from me and the future in and of itself so to be constantly reminded of that fact is anxiety inducing beyond imagine. I’ve had to stay off WA the majority of the day and you know what the first thing i saw was when i opened it up? Unus annus oc’s momento and mori, i had a good long panick from that. Please for the love of god please put a trigger warning on your art, your stories, your commentary, anything mentioning unus annus. I love that people have found comfort in this channel, i appreciate that it brings some people joy. But for others its a constant reminder of our fear and our regrets and while its important to acknowledge these things exist, its also importsnt to not expose people to this when they might not be able to handle it.

To recap- i am not saying you should stop liking unus annus, i am not saying you should stop ssying art. I am not saying everyone experiences matches the ones here and i do not expect everyone to agree with me. But please, please, please, PLEASE at the very very least put a trigger warning on you unus annus posts, please keep in mind this concept is damaging to people. Please.

If you still dont believe me heres a list of things unus annus can trigger: anxiety, panick, anxiety and panick attacks, breakdowns, dissociation, derealization, depressive episodes, loss of reality, existential issues or even crisis, depression, trauma, flashbacks, and more

Lately whenever I am going to any platform to quench my vmin need, I always find some comments trying to establish that vmin are only friends. Why can't they respect our decision of looking at vmin as a romantic ship?! I dont go and comment under other ship videos that you're ship is not real and etc. So why does people has so much problem with watching vmin as a 'romantic ship'? As for how people come to friendzone Vmin that is just something that happens. Especially as a ship get bigger and people feel the need to remind others “it’s not for real” or just enforce “they are friends” because they feel more people talk about them as something more.

I feel many have trouble seeing the difference between shipping and actually thinking a ship is real. And with a large fandom as BTS many also do become delulu as well, so I suppose the defence against that also gets stronger in response to more shippers and believers being loud.

If only people could stay happy just enjoying things for themselves and others who share the same feelings that would be nice. But I am sure there will always be those who want to “quiet down” some things they don’t agree with.

I don’t know if you have read my posts  Normalizing Vmin or “Vmin” or Shipping vs Believing but I think in the end we will probably have to accept that there will always be those that go to others with their own conflicting opinion.

What is important is to try and explain why shipping on it’s own isn’t a bad thing and that we are all allowed to have our own idea as long as it doesn’t hurt the boys or someone else and we remember that it’s different to ship something and think something is real. We love Vmin, others have other reasons to love other ships, or aren’t into shipping at all. It’s just a question of respecting other people’s different preferences.

i didnt wanna write this post

when this shit first started i told myself im not gonna say anything about it cause a)i hate drama in any form and b)no one cares about my opinion

but today i got so fed up with everything ive seen on twitter that here we are

im just gonna kind of explain what happened and share my opinion i guess? and feel free to share yours in the comments as long as you respect other people

so everything pretty much started when someone asked lynz about people accusing jimmy urine of sexual assault

(first of all why would they ask lynz?like i know theyre in the same band but still shes not responsible for his actions)

her responese mightve indeed seem strange, like she was defending herself tho nobody attacked her and it overall felt kinda off

then the whole argument started (most of the tweets are deleted now so its kinda hard to find out what exactly happened)

so first thing im gonna adress is how everyone seems to be "cancelling" her for saying you shouldnt believe victims, but what i understood after reading all of her tweets was that she said always believe victims unless you know theyre a manipulative liar and i think theres actually nothing wrong with saying this? please correct me if you think im wrong but i dont really find this problematic (the tweets are at the end of the post!)

i know that the first tweet, the only one that isnt deleted seems really off and she defo couldve answer better and you can critize her for this but i think she thought the person who asked her was reffering to smth jessicka said which kind of explains everything

jessicka has been saying messed up things about lynz for years, so i think we can understand why she reacted in this way

i 100% understand cutting off fanily memebrs, even as close as your mother and after watching this video i felt really sorry for lynz (again its just my opinion, but the things they both said about lynz reminded me so much of the situation from my family)

ive seen a lot of people bringing up that they said nice things about gerard, so they must be telling the truth because if they wanted fame theyd go after him instead or smth like this

Yeosang’s smile is a little knowing as you join him in the center of the crowd.

“Your last case was really, really good!” someone comments.

Giving your thanks over your shoulder, you’re looking over who voted for you when you reach it.

The reason why Yeosang has that shit-eating grin on his face.

“It really was a pristine field mission,” a sugar sweet voice whispers in your ear. “So exquisitely done.”

You force your face to be emotionless. “Morning, asshole.” 

“Morning, sore loser.”

(That’s been your nickname for the last two days.)

“But, very clearly, I’m the winner.” You nod to the board. “For the whole month. So suck on that!”

“Oh, yes. You’re welcome, by the way.”

Yeosang’s judgmental gaze reminds you that Wooyoung is still standing too close to you, that his warm breath is still fanning over your ear. That your cheeks are burning with anger.

Was he in a war against your personal space or something?

You storm out of the circle, trying to keep your blood pressure to a reasonable level.

When you’re sorting through files with Yeosang later that day, you’re ranting about Wooyoung.

Eventually, he must get fed up with it.

“I know something you don’t,” he singsongs, casually dropping a folder on your side of the desk.

His expression, for what feels like the millionth time this week, is annoyingly knowing. Like he’s watching a friend push the door that says pull.

Because he’s just that kind of person, you grouch to yourself.

“...And what would that be?”

He glances at the folder he just tossed down.

Snatching it up, you find a single page of infuriating news.

“I am not working with that infantile, ridiculous, shit-for-brains—”

“I see you got the memo, too.”

And, within eight seconds, three things happen:

Wooyoung and his damn smirk materialize next to your desk.

Yeosang and his faux sweet grin leave the space next to you.

And you lose your highly annoying but perfectly lovely filing-help to the utterly disappointing replacement of Jung Wooyoung.

The disappointing replacement leans back and throws an arm around you. “I’m looking forward to working with you, partner.”

You groan and shrug his arm off.

“Of course you both have to do it! We picked our two prettiest agents! For this level of case, you really should blend in after all.”

“Seonghwa, sir,” you seethe, “literally any other person in this whole building is prettier than Wooyoung.”

“Do you really believe that?”

Both men level a searching gaze at you. Seonghwa’s is more analytical, and you avoid it. But that means you end up staring at Wooyoung’s for a moment too long.

You both look away at the same time.

“Anyways.” You swallow. “You’re absolutely sure?”

“Y/N.” Seonghwa’s using his director’s voice; now you’re in for it. “You’re staking out the bars where all the pretty movie stars spend their evenings and get drunk, and find nice, also pretty companions for the night, and…”

You don’t know why you glance at Wooyoung when Seonghwa’s saying that. But you do.

You’re surprised to see him already looking at you.

“...So, yes, I’m sure you have to do it. And yes, I truly mean both of you.”

Realizing your cheeks are burning (a common theme recently), you stand abruptly. “Fine.”

Wooyoung has a triumphant grin on his face and copies you. “Fine!”

Seonghwa waits until you’ve both left his office when he texts Yeosang:

I did it T-T I convinced them they’re both prettier than me

u mean u took the first step at getting them past their rivalry?

At the cost of my self-esteem T-T

You spend the first four days doing research, where you try (and fail) to keep things peaceful by ignoring him.

Just email the link, even though he’s sitting next to you.

Just scribble down your thought on a sticky note.

Just ignore him when he bothers you.

Just! Ignore him! Especially when he bothers you.

“I’m telling you!” you finally shout. “If you actually read your contract you would have realized that your fucking lunch break—”

“Okay, okay!” he surrenders, grinning like he’s the one who won.

A few people look over at you, and as you realize this, you also realize how Wooyoung had propped against your side of the table in his ever-constant war against your personal space.

“Sit up and act like you’re a half-functional adult,” you snap.

“I’m not the one who shouted. But yes, ma’am.”

You bite your lip at the way her purrs the last words.

Don’t kill him, don’t kill him, don’t pull out the knife… you remind yourself.

So, it’s sad but true that some days you feel like you fail more than you succeed.

But you can’t be too angry when you realize at the end of day four:

“I can’t believe it. We have a whole case proposal — names, proofs, dates, everything,” you murmur, proudly scrolling down the document.

“All we’ll have to do is actually plan the operation and pick out our outfits,” Wooyoung agrees.

“Which is basically nothing since we have all of next week!”

“This is true.”

The euphoria a doing good work washes over you, and you can’t help but beam at him. “It should have taken way longer.”

"I know! We’re—” He snaps his mouth shut, shaking his head as though his words were unimportant.

You draw circles on the screen with your mouse. What even were you thinking... it was a thought… it existed...

“And this is a form of abuse! I swear! If Yeosang somehow got Seonghwa to do this to us just because ‘you had stars in your eyes,’ I’m going to fucking—”

There’s something in his tone that catches your attention.

When you give him an incredulous look, you find him looking at your lips. And you’re so exhausted you literally can’t process. (As you head home about fifteen minutes later, you start to process. And you realize you hadn’t hated it at all.)

“Let’s go home,” you suggest quietly. “I don’t even know why we’re doing this.”

(As you step inside your house, the rational side of you wonders what would have happened if you had stayed.)

At some point, he moves very close to you.

(He finally won his war against your personal space, you realize as you brush your teeth.)

(Capping your lip balm container, you press your lips together and recall how his felt, pressed against yours. So softly, at least for your perception of Wooyoung. So skillfully, which does match your perception of him.)

His face is still close, but now he’s looking into your eyes.

(He has very pretty eyes; you picture them as you slip under your blankets.)

“Let’s go home,” you repeat breathlessly, “and deal with this all tomorrow.”

His hands, callused and controlled thanks to your profession, rest gently on your neck.

“Do you think all of this… All of this will work out?”

I wanted to comment about your post about Respawning. Wanting to leave your cr is very relatable to me. When i first shifted i wanted to leave my cr because i felt so frustrated with it. This is actually why i shifted because i was so focused on leaving. Looking back at it ,i was angry and bitter at my cr and saw Hogwarts as my escape and it was. I only shifted out of strong desire to leave. And i think over time i understood that it wasn't right and i should appriciate my cr too and that if im unhappy in my cr ill be unhappy anywhere really. I need to fix the storm inside first.

But also the people on Tumblr really are quick to curse people who mention Respawning and to just be hostile towards them. Like... you see someone who is struggling to live and cope with their reality and instead of being like "hey please dont leave everything will be ok!", They jump on blindly hating them.

I totally agree with this!! For me, I have trauma that won't ... go away as far as I know. I want to grow and encourage others to as well. But what happened to me won't ever go away, it's not like I can forget nor will the effects go away. But shifting to where I have overcome it will let me live a better life and finally live past it. I could actually enjoy life. I know my CR isn't to blame but I also know staying won't change anything for me. "Then get therapy" is a poor excuse people try to throw out. Some people do. Their entire life. It won't completely change what they remember or what they are dealing with, though.

If I'm allowed to give my two-cents on this...

I honestly think this is true. People are quick to say that and it's really... not okay. For example, today I was told I can't mention permanent shifting (which I was okay with) but I explained it won't change my opinion about it (yet again, I was okay with not mentioning it) but they asked me leave and sent a TW "mentally ill," towards me, about my message which I tried to be 100% respectful about. I was trying to be respectful and I even gave my opinion in blanks so no one would see but the mod, but they were quick to call their opinion fact and call/hint to someone that they are mentally ill for not believing the same. It's not okay.

If you really want to help someone then talk to them but do not hate on them because it's different. Respawning, yes, may be different but assuming what it is and then assuming it as fact is not okay.

⚠�� There are two types, the spiritual respawners and the suicidial respawners. Spiritual respawners shift and then let the body pass through natural process, they do not do this if they believe it will be too risky. At all. Suicidial respawners are people who don't care whether they respawn or not, and I wish a lot of people knew this. ⚠️

I'm not hating it or supporting it, I really don't know yet (because of the spiritual aspects, but I don't support the suicidial version. If you need help please connect with someone or me and I'll try to be there to distract/talk/support you) and that's valid. But what I'm saying is if the community really wants to "help respawners" then don't be quick to bash them or act like they are vulgar. They aren't disgusting and removing them completely isn't going to "help" them, it might even make things worse. I've noticed Amino seems to be more accepting but Tumblr is more "this is my opinion but accept it as fact." Which really... also isn't okay. I know I say opinionated stuff (and even now I am) but that's why I also like to encourage others to fact check and make their own decisions but in a healthy way.

What I mean is...

Not okay

❌ Calling someone names

❌ Saying the person is wrong without an explaination (this leaves the person guessing and that's not always a good thing)

❌ Harrassment

❌ Saying derogatory things towards a group and/or person

❌ Assuming that whatever you're doing isn't triggering the other person

What is okay:

✔️ Supporting the person, you don't have to agree with them to support them. This may sound silly, but think of it this way. If a friend is cutting you can support them but not their actions. You assist them, check on them, talk with them, it doesn't make them any less human.

✔️ Remind them if they overstep your triggers and do the same for them

✔️ You don't have to agree, but acknowledging another is always good

✔️ Don't actively spread hate to a group without reason. (Or ever!!!) Most of the people on here are minors, and spreading hate also affects the minors in that group. Not only minors, but really anyone. It's okay to disagree and that's valid, but spreading hate isn't okay.

✔️ Don't assume that person's life, views, or actions just because they don't match yours. Explain yours and if they don't agree that's okay!! You're both valid but it's not okay to be angry at them for it.

I just want to say to everyone, overall, a lot of people are struggling. And if you want to help someone then do that. Don't push them away. It's okay to feel burdened or uncomfortable by what someone is saying; that's a normal part of emotional development. But what isn't okay is to be angry at them for it when all they did was express themselves when you claim to be "open." I know we all make mistakes and we will can grow from them, either in a big way or a small bit - and if I'm ever wrong or treating someone wrongly I want someone to point it out. But it seems like on this website no one likes to be called out or change their opinions. I can't change the community overnight, but I would like to say that the attitude towards respawners really needs to quit.

Do you think magnus has ever had panic attacks? how do you think alec or his friends (like raphael or cat or ragnor) would react/help?

I'm pretty sure he has, actually. i mean its pretty much impossible not to, with such a long live he's lived and all the trauma he's gone through. we got a glimpse of the kinds of nightmares he has, all the guilt he feels, and the unbearable pressure on his shoulders. he's strong af, but everyone breaks down, and there are parts of him that are still raw, and fragile sometimes

i imagine he's the type that absolutely tries to hide them, the type that feels them coming and is all like "excuse me" and manages to hold it back for exactly the time needed to get somewhere he can hide and break down. but his friends and family are attentive, and they know him, and after a while they start to recognize the signs that Magnus went away to have a panic attack/is about to have one

as for how they react...

Cat: cat is a medical professional, so i imagine she knows the best procedures. keep a distance, count the breaths, talk to him in a soothing voice, walk him through calming down, ask him about the things around him so he can regain his surroundings, etc. then, once he's back to breathing, she slowly comes towards him, asks if she can touch him, and when he says yes, strokes his hair and kisses his forehead. she then goes back and tells everyone Magnus had an emergency, takes him home (even if it takes some convincing to make him agree to leave), and stays the night with him, cuddling, talking about it, or providing a distraction

Ragnor: ragnor is probably a more awkward version of cat. The good thing about him is that he always keeps his cool and acts like whatever's happening is natural, and it's so absurd that Magnus starts laughing waterly and feels a little more at ease, because he's not making a huge fuss. He's like "oh dear, okay, Magnus, you're okay, let's calm down, yeah? breathe with me, in, out... yeah, see, that's not so hard" and it's kind of like ???? why are you so matter of fact about this??, but in a good way. then he probably conjures up Magnus some tea, and either portals him home, or goes back with him and stays by his side, sneakingly stealing the attention with crazy stories so people don't notice Magnus is off

Dot: Dot usually holds his hand, tells him that hes alright, might cheat sometimes by using magic to calm him down a little bit. Then once he's a little calmer, she probably serves as a pretty good distraction, talking to him about other things, playing music, allowing him to just forget until he's ready to open up and tell her what happened

Raphael: Raphael probably struggles a little, because Magnus is his father figure, and it's always a little earth shattering to see your parents breaking down. also, he has this image of himself as someone who struggles to express his feelings because hes not good at verbalizing them (plus autism frequently means his intentions are mistaken by people who don't know him) even if, actually, he's pretty damn good at showing Magnus that he cares. he worries so much about getting him to be okay it's painful, counting his breaths, cupping his face, Magnus, look at me, it's okay, you're okay, hugging him. Magnus might be scared but he'd never lash out at Raphael, so it works. then once Magnus has calmed down Raphael is just speeding around trying to get things for him. here's some water. here's food. can you portal home? I'll make you some food. like he needs to feel useful and also the latino instincts are always person sad = feed them. so he makes Magnus some soup, recipe of his mum that Magnus taught him especially for moments like these, makes him drink water and gets him blankets (gotta be toasty). usually Magnus ends up sleeping, but when he wakes up, Raphael is still there, probably cleaning his loft worriedly because he's like that, but as soon as magnus opens his eyes he's back at his side. are you alright? tell me what happened. and he listens to Magnus very attentively, free of judgement, and it's very heartwarming and reminds Magnus that Raphael cares about him so deeply, that he's not alone

Alec: he can probably never pretend for too long with alec when they arent home because Alec is always like "gotta keep tabs on my husband at all times" so if he disappears alec is immediately searching for him. he usually goes straight for the hug, and it's good, because he's so Big and can envelop Magnus like a cocoon if he wants, hiding him from the world and making him feel like, safe and sated. If sensory overload caused the attack it's particularly great, because it feels like a sensory deprivation chamber and he's just safe and with the right amount of pressure and touch, and Alec always feels nice. And he allows himself to cry on Alec's shoulder, and Alec whispers soothing things. Then Alec either takes him home and cuddles with him until he falls asleep and asks him about it the next day, or, if Magnus asks to go back, he goes with him. Alec understands the feeling of humiliation at having to leave an event because of something like this, and how sometimes, as a leader, or as a downworlder surrounded by shadowhunters, he can't without risking his position or the respect he gets. So he silently goes back with him, always with an appropriate excuse for their disappearance, no matter how long or sudden it was, and somehow even manages to be convincing enough that people dont think they left to fuck. he's a diplomat, after all. he guides Magnus through the rest of the event, making sure to avoid annoying people and to take the lead in conversations so Magnus doesnt have to strain himself emotionally too much. Then he takes Magnus home, helps him out of his clothes and makeup, cuddles with him until he falls asleep, and asks him about it the next day

i loved this ask, btw! It's interesting to think about how each of them would react to that situation and explore their dynamics and how each of them could be helpful. since each of them has a forte, depending on the situation they might call each other - raph, Magnus is too beaten up, can you get here and make some soup?, Alec, Magnus had a breakdown and he can't leave, would you come here?, Cat, we're worried, can you come and calm him down?, etc. Just give Magnus all the supporting network trying their hardest and playing their strengths to help him

Im sorry your probably gonna be seeing alot of these posts because I am friggin PISSED and no Im not saying this ONE THING ruined the game for me or that the game is bad thats not my intention I personally gave the game a 8.9 so clearly I enjoyed it I just didnt enjoy THIS shit

The romance between Sora and Kairi omg its just SO BAD it makes my danm blood boil because it didnt HAVE to be this bad but you wanna know why it was so bad this game and worse than any other game in the franchise?

Because Kairi was off the island

You heard me right, Kairi being off the island and put onto the battlefield destroyed this relationship for good and turned it into the biggest friggin joke its ever been when before there were actually some decent moments between them but this? this was downright laughable and so forced it felt like Sora was being held hostage and forced to say and do the BS that he was and it just felt uncomfortable to watch

Like him saying ‘Im strong with you Kairi’ which apparently in JPN he said ‘your strong Kairi’ which somehow makes it better to some people but bruh both are equally bad and equally laughable because neither of them are true

Kairi’s not strong and never has been, Kairi is just a love interest and has never been anything else from the moment she was introduced all she was is Sora’s love interest and that was literally all there was and all there still is to her character

Oh well without Kairi Sora wouldnt be alive she was the only thing keeping him tethered to the real world and lit his way back

So tf what? she deserves a friggin medal because she ‘believed’ ? dont make me laugh, wow Kairi’s one big moment of use was just ‘believeing’ in Sora which literally every single other character does but when Kairi does it suddenly its the biggest contribution anyone could give her because thats literally ALL she did so yea bravo Kairi, you believed

And then everybody proceeded to nearly get bodied all over again xD nice save Kairi, you literally almost made everyone die TWICE

Know who ACTUALLY did something to stop it a second time? Namine, Lingering will, The past keyblade masters, Yen Sid, those are the ones who actually DID something that made a difference and ACTUALLY kept them alive this time

Kairi literally barely kept him alive, brought him back to the light, just for him to nearly die all over again and her whole role ends up being a total failure that changed NOTHING

So yeah congratulations, her biggest moment amounted to nothing

Oh and dont get me started on that stupid hug Sora gave Kairi when she was about to get struck down by Terranort

Bruh dont give me that ‘he was moving too fast’ or some crap like that so he only had time to do that, BULLSHIT did you SEE how fast Aqua came at Riku in the ROD? Sora managed to get between them and shield Riku with his keyblade in literal seconds, but with Kairi he just hugs her?

You see now why I say this ship is laughable in this game and forced af? that made no danm sense, even if he would of pushed her out of the way it would of made more sense then just friggin hugging her as if thats really gonna stop anything

Bruh Sora and Riku had a more believable romantic moment in that entire ROD moment with Riku saying Sora’s name and then Sora appears to help him save the day and they summon a friggin rainbow keyblade, and then Aqua is about to friggin body Riku with literally only seconds to react Sora manages to protect him

Now I’ve seen people try to argue well everybody really was useless or needed saving in this game so its not just Kairi

BULLSHIT and lemme tell you why

Yea its true people like Riku and Mickey who are far more experienced still struggled and needed saving but guess what? they were DOING something, they held their own they didnt just friggin stand there they put up a danm fight and DID something that actually CONTRIBUTED

I mean bruh Riku and Mickey were literally fighting by themselves at the end of the game against THREE PEOPLE, again BY THEMSELVES holdin their own while everybody else had atleast 1 person helpin them, Aqua with Ventus and Kairi with Lea but Riku and Mickey? solo and doin the danm thing idc if they eventually get defeated or knocked out or struggle alot the point is their DOING something or atleast friggin TRIED to do something

Aqua gets roasted alot too but we’ve seen what she can do in BBS, she held her own and even fought and beat Vanitas, again even if she eventually was defeated or knocked out etc like her Vanitas fight in KH3 again she friggin TRIED and friggin DID something

Ventus got bodied but again we’ve seen what he could do in BBS and Ventus is no pushover, he unfroze himself with sheer will power and his glare was enough to give Xigbar [now Luxu] PTSD everytime he sees him or someone who reminds him of him, he too took on Vanitas and tied even though he didnt WIN he didnt lose either so his performance against Terranort in this game I agree was underwhelming but understandable given thats still his friend but he still did something in the end and wasnt totally useless

People raggin on Lea need to STOP because its thanks to him Kairi didnt get friggin smacked down early on because he took the danm hit for her and got sent flying instead of her defending her danm self

Keep in mind Kairi and Lea got the EXACT SAME TRAINING and even HE reacted with common sense but Kairi? even AFTER SEEING Lea get sent flying after defending her that STILL didnt make her defend herself and she just friggin STOOD THERE

Or how about when both Kairi and Sora got knocked back and Lea literally fought Saix and Xion and Xemnas BY HIMSELF to protect them

Gtf outta here man and put some respect on Leas name because he DANM sure deserves it for all the crap he took from Xemnas and the utter disrespect of having his keyblade I assume broken or damaged, being shot by multiple lasers AND having his hand stomped on by Xemnas this man was still TRYING even with all odds against him and being clearly outmatched he still TRIED

Meanwhile Kairi just gets her arm grabbed, I wanna make this very clear

She is not lifted off the ground like Sora was with young Xehanort, she was not pinned to the ground, she was not backed into a wall, she did not have both arms forced behind her back NO

Her feet are planted firmly on the ground, she has one arm being pulled above her head but she has another free arm which may not be her dominant arm but is still better than having none and she does NOTHING

She doesnt try to get her other arm free from him

She doesnt struggle or pull away from him

She doesnt try to turn around to lessen the pain of her arm being pulled behind her

She doesnt stomp on his foot to try and get him to loosen his grip on her to give her a chance to break free

Know who was in a similar situation and handled it way better with no battle experience?

So dont tell me it wasnt friggin possible for her to do anything in that situation because thats utter bullshit and you know it, Kairi didnt even STRUGGLE she didnt even TRY to get free

She used her free arm to reach out for Sora to ‘save’ her though, but not to even attempt to free herself

Yet THIS is who people are hoping is the main playable character next game to go rescue Sora?

Girl couldnt even save herself yet yall think she can rescue Sora? what a joke but unfortunately some people are actually serious about this and actually want a playable Kairi after this travesty of a performance

Before yall had good arguments, Kairi WAS inexperienced and she DIDNT have any battle training so she really COULDNT contribute or do much but that all changed in KH3, now she DOES have the SKILLS and the TRAINING and the means to be able to contribute and DO something and theres absolutely no more excuses why she shouldnt

Kairi says herself, this time I’ll fight too, this time its my turn to protect you

And when she fiiiiiiinally gets the chance to do all that, everything the fandom has wanted and waited years for her to finally be able to do, this is what she does

THIS is Kairi off the island, THIS is battle ready Kairi, THIS is Kairi DOING something and by doing something I mean NOTHING but getting in the way like Sora said years ago when he left her back on the island which now makes total sense because this is what happens when Kairi goes with Sora to the battlefield

Now we know what Kairi is truly capable of if you give her a weapon and the training to use it, absolutely nothing

And people actually want playable Kairi next game xD

Honestly I somewhat blame the fandom for this because I wouldnt be surprised if Nomura tried giving her a more active role because the fandom desperately wanted this for years and I guess this was his attempt at throwin them a bone but to be perfectly honest? he should have just left her ass on the island atleast then she had an EXCUSE to be useless but because he tried to give the people what they wanted and actually gave Kairi combat skills he just made Kairi 100% justifiably hateable now and I am so glad to see more people finally turn on this chick because the excuses for her has finally run out and its about danm time she got the hate she deserves because Sora deserved better

I think thats the part that hurts the most, I can accept Sora dying but its HOW he died that I cant accept and do you even need to guess how it was? thats right, saving Kairi

Listen Nomura, you tried and failed miserably, its time to stop, seriously, its time to stop, Kairi had her chance and she blew it and now its time to let it go and bench her ass on the island like you been doing out of everybodys danm way and leave the rescuing of Sora to Riku and everyone else who is actually of some danm use and knows wtf they are doing

Kairi can just stay on the island and ‘believe’ since thats apparently all shes good at doing, let her just ‘believe’ that Sora will come back while Riku and everyone else actually do the work of getting him back and she just be there to greet him when hes back

Im hoping the secret ending is hinting at us playing as Riku trying to save Sora because Im all for that, but if they really try to shoe horn playable Kairi in after all the negative reaction from this game Im not saying I wont play it but it will definitely make the game unenjoyable if majority of it has you playing as someone you strongly dislike instead of Riku whos actually a pretty popular and beloved character amongst majority of the fandom while Kairi is descending to one of the most disliked

So Im hoping Nomura has learned from this and just doesnt even try with Kairi anymore, just stop it

This game would have been so much better if he’d just manned up and took the risk and just abandoned Kairi in this game by letting her actually STAY dead and Sora accepts this and moves on [of course over time not instantly] but with the help of Riku and everyone else by his side Sora’s able to move forward and live on keeping Kairi in his heart forever and at the end instead of what we got hes just sitting on the beach watching the sunset while everyone else is playing and he takes out and looks at Kairi’s charm remembering how he didnt get to give it back to her this time but then all of a sudden a paopu fruit washes up near his feet which is unusual but he picks it up and as he does notices something in the distance but is blinded by the sun but he can vaguely see Kairi before she fades away, similar to how Axel saw Xion here

Lets say Kairi is holding the other paopu too, and once she disapears Sora cries for a moment but wipes them away and smiles knowing that Kairi’s still with him, he then proceeds to take a bite of the paopu fruit which would tie in perfectly with the title screen showing Sora with his back turned and a bite taken out of the paopu hes holding

This way Kairi’s importance to Sora is still in tact but shes no longer here to get in the way or need saving AGAIN, her character ends on a high note and Sora grows from the experience realizing that he cant save everybody no matter how hard he tries some people simply cannot be saved and he just has to let them go even if he doesnt want to

But nope, instead Sora dies saving Kairi like in KH1 and its just not sweet, its not even bittersweet, its more of a slap in the face than anything and Sora has zero growth from this, it just changed from Kairi needing saving to Sora needing saving and honestly we JUST saved everybody else and already we have to save ANOTHER person? its just ugh man I cant

Theres plenty more things I didnt like besides this but this is the one thing that pissed me off the most because I never expected it to be THIS bad

Also I know I use Sora and Riku as a comparison alot but that isnt because Im some salty Soriku shipper whos just mad my ship aint canon because honestly I dont give af when it comes to Kingdom hearts pairings I could literally care less about any of them hell Roxas could marry a tree for all I care or form a three way with Ven and Aqua I DONT CARE the only pairing I ever had a problem with is Sokai and thats because of my strong dislike for Kairi more so than the pairing itself and I think Sora deserves better than Kairi so this isnt just some bitter Soriku shipper because like I said I DONT care but I do somewhat ship Soriku, just like I somewhat ship Roxion and RokuNami and some older ships more out there like Sonami or Namitas etc no one cares but you get my point

I dont care about Kingdom hearts for the ships theres far more important things going on than to be worried about some stupid pairing, but Sokai just leaves a bad taste in my mouth everytime its even mentioned

And now no matter what they do with Kairi or Sokai in the future it wouldnt change a thing because after KH3 its irredeemable, the damage is done and theres no undoing it unless you give it one long ass arc like Riku to slowly redeem it but I doubt Nomura cares about the romance and Kairi enough to actually dedicate such an arc for it so yeah the damage is DONE

My bet for next games playable characters, Riku, Aqua, Roxas, Ventus, Xion, those are the only ones who make sense to me since they all have the strongest connection to Sora and are capable fighters and I feel Aqua although not having a strong connection to him like the others she would wanna repay Sora for saving her so thats my bet

If anyone bothered to read this whole thing then lemme know who do you thinks gonna be playable in the next game?

Also if you like Kairi and Sokai thats perfectly fine this isnt to bash the shippers or demanding you dislike it cuz hey to each their own, Im just saying I DONT

• DONT TAKE 8 AMs!!!! You’ll think “I got up for 8 am class in high school every day, I’ll be fine” you will not be fine. It is not fine, and you most likely won’t go to class. Avoid 8 am’s at all costs, if you can.

• if you do have to take an 8 am, my suggestion is to give yourself enough time to have a morning routine. Wash your face, drink some coffee, go for a walk, etc. anything you can do to make yourself more awake will increase your chances of going to class, and actually soaking in what the prof is saying.

• professors are not scary! I thought they were until I started talking to them, they’re really nice, and if you can find something to bond with them about, do that, because it makes them like you and want to help you!

• Show profs that you are dedicated to your grade - if you miss a homework assignment, ask if you can make it up. If you CANT, stay on their good side. Apologize, but don’t give excuses (they’ve heard it all) ask for extra credit, attend every class, go to their office hours, and they might warm up to helping you out w/ that missed assignment.

• final note for profs, go. To. Office. Hours. I was really scared to, but it’s not scary, and it can be fun! It helps show your demonstrated interest, build relationships, and one day you’re gonna need letters of recommendations for jobs and scholarships, and profs are some of the best references - and how to get a prof to write you a letter is office hours :)

Okay fun stuff.

• don’t spend all your time studying. College is extremely fun, and if you spend all your time killing yourself for the GPA, you aren’t experiencing it right!

• go to parties, but be super extremely careful. If you’re a girl, buddy system. When you go to a party, you agree that no matter what happens, who you arrive with is who you leave with. (So If one girl wants to leave, generally everyone should go too.) also you don’t want your friends to leave and now you’re alone at a party. Not good.

• if you’re a guy going to a party, have fun, be respectful. That’s all. I’m not going to sit here and lecture like all guys are going to do something bad because I don’t agree with that, but be respectful and have fun obvi!

• don’t drink too much, it’s really easy to do, because you’re adulting and your parents aren’t there, but hangovers SUCK, and alcohol poisoning is real, and dangerous. Learn your limits and stick to them. Also keep an eye out for your friends and how much they’re drinking. Back to that buddy system - look out for each other!

• if you don’t want to drink, don’t!! If you want to go because your friends are going, go! No one will force you to drink. It’s usually not like in movies where people stand around and say “hey can I get you a drink?” If you want one you have to go locate it, so no one will judge you if that’s not your thing.

• if your friends are going to the party and you DONT want to go, don’t :) you don’t have to do everything together, and do not do anything that will make you uncomfortable.

• never ever never drunk drive. Even if you’ve had one drink and you think you’re fine DO NOT DO IT. Spend the $6 on the Uber. It’s way cheaper than a life, or a hospital bill, or guilt.

• how to avoid a hangover (usually): when you get home from the party, take 2 Advil, 2 pesto bismol, drink a bottle of water, and go to sleep. When you wake up 9 times out of 10 you’ll feel mostly fine!

• don’t. Drink. On. School. Nights. You will regret it. It sucks. Don’t do it. :)

• if you can avoid ubering alone, do so. Lonely drunk girls in Uber’s is a really bad idea, try and stick to the buddy system!

• JOIN ORGANIZATIONS!!!! Look, I didn’t want to join a sorority because I thought they were all snobs and it was “buying your friends” but it’s not, sororities can be so so much fun!! When rushing, just look for the right one - look at all the people, ask probing questions, get a feel for how their sisterhood works! - same for frats! Frat guys are really fun, and I would encourage any guy to join one - there’s a frat for every flavor, I’m serious. And it’s a great way to make amazing friends!

• don’t spend too much time in your dorm room. Find reasons to go out every night that you can. The more people you meet and the more active you are, the more enjoyable your experience will be!

Roommates

• don’t be passive aggressive. Even when things get tricky, try and just have conversations.

• build a good foundation, but don’t try and be besties w/ your freshman year roomie. It’s actually better to be friendly and not friends, because theres more respect between strangers than friends. (EX: I kept the room clean for the roommate I didn’t know. When I lived with friends, we collectively were much dirtier, because we were friends.)

• If your roommate is bothering you, just leave the room! Don’t be around something that isn’t life giving to you.

• make a roommate agreement when you move in, and stick to it. (Do the dishes once a week, no guests after a certain time, quiet hours, tell me when you have friends over, etc.)

Random

• umbrella. Everywhere.

• jacket. Everywhere.

• charger. Everywhere.

• on the weeks where you have 5 tests 6 essays and 3 assignments due, or whatever, remember you can do it, and take breaks. Get everything done, but don’t try and do it all in one haul. Also don’t procrastinate. If you have a lot of assignments coming up, get them done in advance, to save your future self the panic!!

• study groups are life giving. A) you make friends B) you make better grades

• ask your prof for help if you need it. Especially freshman year, they understand and they want to help you!

• call your parents!!! They miss you.

• it’s okay to miss home, high school, your family. That’s so normal. (I called my mom crying freshman years so. Many. Times. It’s fine! Everyone does it!)

• FaceTime your friends when you miss them. Don’t be distant, also maintaining some high school friends makes it easier when you go home for the summer, you still have people to hang with!

Remember that you’re going to have SO MUCH FUN!! College is so much better than high school dudes. Everyone chills out, I promise. And you’ll have a blast!

wait until after syllabus week to buy your textbooks. they might not be required. it’ll save you money 

prioritize your classes by number of credit hours. more credit hours = bigger impact on your GPA. sometimes there’s not enough study time to go around  

if you wanna dress up for class, dress up for class. if you wanna pull up in the sweatshirt you wore yesterday, that’s okay too 

locate your classes before they start, so you don’t get lost on the first day. check and see if your college has an app of some sort with a campus map! 

old exams are more valuable than life itself  

set your class schedule as your home screen until you’ve got it down

carry a sweatshirt. it may be 100 degrees outside but chances are it’s 30 degrees in your lecture hall

bring your chargers with you everywhere 

sometimes it’s easier to wake up early and study for an exam than stay up late the night before  

shower shoes. have you ever heard of toe fungus 

the dorms are bad BUT you will get through it (and make friends while doing it) 

there’s no such thing as a condom that doesn’t fit    

every time you skip class it costs you money. go to class. (unless you are dying or have no other time to finish something for another class)

your mental health is important. college can be overwhelming. know your limits. seek help if you need it. 

sometimes if you go to your professor’s office hours and ask questions a day or two before an exam they will steer you towards information that will be covered 

find your study space. the library is your friend  

parking is a bitch and a half 

it’s okay to miss your parents. call them. (they miss you too) 

talk to your advisor!!! let them advise you!!!

don’t study yourself into the ground. after college you’re a real life adult - enjoy college while it lasts. go out, make friends, if you drink, do so responsibly. uber exists for this very reason 

keep an eye on your drink at all times 

don’t feel pressured to go out and drink because college. it’s not for everybody

i have been seeing your rants about arrow on twitter for a while. I agree with mostly everything what you say and my favorite character was laurel mainly because she reminded me of the actual roy from the comics. That said she never really was like dinah from the comics she had her heart but for me she is more like roy harper. So when dinah came in i was okey with it because she's more like dinah from the comcis, but the laurel fans are starting to become the olicity. So whatcha think

No offence, but I’m really wondering what renditions of both Roy and Dinah you’re referring to? Because aside from addiction Laurel and comic Roy arent alike?

I think the big problem with the whole Tuna Fake scenario (or Arrow in general) is that people have a bad habit of condensing complex characters down to one or two traits and then trying to say that’s all they are? Tuna is literally nothing like comic Black Canary. Aside from the meta human cry and the name Dinah (that they blatantly slapped onto another OC in an attempt to save face), she has nothing about her that is BC relevant? And to imply that anyone who has the canary cry is “just like BC” would be to imply that anyone who has super strength is Superman, anyone with a bow is Green Arrow etc.

A leading theme in DCs work is legacy and family. Tuna Fake has an apparent love for killing people, uses a gun and has shown next to no loyalty or compassion. She just showed up with a sonic scream and people just jumped at the chance to call her the “real” Black Canary in a bid to undermine Laurel when she’s had no development, has shown no heart, and has done absolutely nothing to earn that title. I feel pretty comfortable in saying that those people aren’t Black Canary fans at all. They just wanted a hot girl with the cry to fill the quota and they fell for Arrow’s shit.

Arrow spent literal months hammering home how unimportant Black Canary was, how they didn’t understand why they couldn’t kill her, how OF COURSE you can have Green Arrow without her. Then their ratings tanked. And in an attempt to save face they brought in ANOTHER OC because they couldn’t realistically go back on killing Laurel without making fools of themselves, but anyone with common sense can see that Tuna’s introduction was to make up for that dier mistake. Because why would they have spent so long digging their heels in and repeating “we dont need black canary” if they intended to bring in a new one anyway? They didn’t. Tuna was their Plan B because it blew up in their face.

Laurel was built up to be BC from the pilot. At the end of episode 1 we hear “Dinah Laurel Lance, always trying to save the world” and we know that this woman is a hero. She fights the good fight and defends the helpless with or without a mask. From day one Laurel has dedicated herself to helping the people of Star City in any way she could. She never needed a crucible to make her a hero, she always was one. In that sense, she was a hero before Oliver was. The same way that Black Canary and Green Arrow were both heroes before they met each other. Laurel also - very much like comic book Dinah - cleans up Oliver’s mess and takes responsibility for Oliver’s failings. Laurel took in Thea on multiple occasions and showed her endless support that Oliver - for whatever reasons - was unable to provide, which is the exact same thing that happened with Roy, Dinah and Oliver in the comics.

Thea Queen is an obvious combination of both Roy and Mia from the comics - she’s an uber Speedy. Laurel supported Thea through her drug addiction, she represented her in court, gave her a work placement position, took her in when Oliver abandoned her, threatened thugs to stay away from her. Laurel was there to catch Thea each and every time without fail, just the same as Dinah was for Roy in the comics. Laurel is loyal and compassionate and protective and steadfast and determined, she’s been shown to care for children in a way that shows her as almost maternal, all qualities that are taken from comic book Black Canary. She never let anyone tell her she couldn’t do something, she never backed down without a fight. She had a bit of a temper and called people out on their bullshit. She trained under both WildCat and the League (via Nyssa). Laurel is as close to being Dinah as the show could make her given the ramifications they’d set themselves.

Laurel was always a lot more like comic book Dinah than Oliver has ever been like comic book GA. So why is it that people always like to try and pull this “real BC” nonsense (when it’s completely fabricated)?

If they’d introduced Tina as some random OC and eventually named her something else (I’ve seen some fans suggest she’d be a great Lady BlackHawk) then people wouldn’t have a problem. But it’s the blatant damage-controlling that they’re trying to do by slapping BC’s name on her after all the shit they said about BC last year. So it’s not necessarily Tina’s inclusion that’s the problem, but rather the unfounded need to force this “new black canary” agenda when Tina is nothing like BC and doesnt deserve that mantle. They said they could kill Black Canary. They repeatedly said that they didn’t need Black Canary. If that were true, why did they immediately try to bring in another one when their ratings tanked? BECAUSE THEY WERE WRONG. And they also wrongly assumed that people wouldnt care who it was as long as they had someone to fill the canary quota. Except, people are pissed because female characters are not interchangebale and Laurel had some of the best character growth the show had ever seen, only to have it all thrown away and replaced by some rando who shows up out of nowhere and immediately starts getting the treatment and respect that Laurel never had. It’s bullshit.

I also think it’s a fucking joke to imply people who are rightfully pissed about Laurel’s treatment are the same as Oliciters. Laurel fans were grasping onto 5mins of screentime an episode (if that!) prior to her death. We got spat on at every turn. We witnessed Laurel’s ups and downs and followed her growth and watched her struggle and come into her own and embody a strong, complex character who made mistakes but grew from them, only to have all of that ripped away from us and used to prop up a ship. Black Canary is a 70year old legacy character and they treated her like she was replaceable. Meanwhile, Oliciters only care about their ship, they keep demanding ol*city sex scenes and babies and weddings and all this romcom bullshit that has no place on an action show, they attack and slander comic book writers and katie and stephen’s wife, and even that guy who played Felicity’s boyfriend for a few episodes said he got death threats. Yeah, there are some bad apples in the Laurel fandom, the same with anything else, but most of the time the Laurel fandom just call Marc on his bullshit because he contradicts most of what he says and actually private messages oliciters to give them spoilers while the rest of us sit around wondering why we give this show the time of day when there’s clearly nothing left here for us.
