The Great Gatsby Placement HCs🍾
I feel like this story is one of the more interesting ones to flip dynamic archetypes, not only because we should generally re-explore gender/sexuality during the turn of the 20th century, but also because this book specifically toys with ways to have social/interpersonal leverage. I really struggled to cover that here adequately (I’m kind of a basic bitch lol), but I’d love to see an AU where conceptions like “masculine/leader/protector alpha” changes entirely
Daisy: omega.
An annoyingly easy placement for me. I feel like for her to be driven to have an affair with Nick, she'd need to be one, if that makes sense? She needs that feeling of being equal and being in a traditional marriage of "man x omega woman" or the epitome of “object of desire” Really would emphasize that I think.
Beta works too? You’re not going to see me actively fight that
Nick: any dynamic
I and I think most others would see him as a beta. He’s an observer, he finds it natural to fall into the background of whatever bullshit his life is surrounded by, he often finds himself a mediator between other parties, I lowkey kind of kin him, etc.
I’d also take Nick as an alpha who refuses to step into the spotlight, which adds an interesting nuance for him admiring Gatsby ("do I love him or wanna be him?" type beat).
And I’m down to argue to defend omega Nick too, though I’ll be honest, I only really considered it because Nick was played by Tobey Maguire in the movie, haha.
Jordan: beta or alpha
Really, I just want to emphasize she and Nick are foils.
Honestly, I'm kind of in love with Jordan being whatever dynamic Gatsby initially presents himself as, because there's meant to be this kind of hollow relationship thing happening between Jordan and Nick and ✨fucked up implications in dynamic parallels✨ are tasty (listen, Nick was already on thin ice considering how this motherfucker specifically liked how androgynous Jordan was; please let me do this shawty)
I’ll also say omega could be fun because we’d be working with an omega athlete
Gatsby: literally anything works
I don't know how many times I've seen transmasc Gatsby since I started looking up fanworks, but what I do know is that the idea is stuck in my mind forever. That is to say, it almost feels imperative for Gatsby's narrative to hide his dynamic or to excessively flaunt it because it was the one thing he could rely on in his youth.
I personally find myself the most in love with beta Gatsby, masking as anything he finds fun for that day, using the most expensive perfumes and tech.
Alpha Gatsby who follows his dream partially because “I’m no real alpha if I can’t make it big” or “I’m an alpha so I’m destined for greatness”.
I love Omega Gatsby specifically because it means we’re now playing with the classic “omega-mask as-not omega” trope. Like are you fucking KIDDING me?!?!?!?!? TEXTBOOK ANGST for this genre HOLY SHIT.
Point is: any dynamic for Jay is stellar, including pan/inter/fluiddynamic, because he can use it as yet another way to masquerade (or as deluded inspiration for his idealism, haha)
Tom: alpha, but consider…
Tom’s old money, the traditional foil for the new-wave moonshiner Jay. So alpha is just kind of a no-brainer, especially if we’re playing with Jay being this aspiring alpha/putting into question what makes an alpha.
But. But but but PLEASE just imagine a Tom who’s ALSO insecure like Gatsby in his second gender. Beta or omega Tom is insane to me, and this is really where I wish I had the brains for an non-traditionalish AU, because I want to see Tom/Daisy’s personalities/interactions to be totally flipped from the “ideal” alpha man/omega woman couple.
#this was all done based on what I remember of the book and rhe 2013 movie#AKA it’s subject to change when I watch more versions >:)))#a/b/o#omegaverse au#tgg#omegaverse#the great gatsby#nick carraway#jay gatsby#tom buchanan#daisy buchanan#jordan baker#the great Gatsby omegaverse#omegaverse dyanamic placements

hii! what documentaries do you like? I've just been binging vsauce lol, I love psychology and the science of it :) do you have any favorite shows or movies that you think people need to watch?
i LOVE psychological documentaries!! but my most favorite is true crime, especially cases about cultists and serial killers, spooky but i find it very interesting, the most recent one 've seen is 'Jonsetown: Paradise Lost', it's about the infamous cult leader Jim Jones, if it interests you you should defo check it out! i also love nature documentaries when I'm in the mood for something light, I'd turn on national geographic and follow whatever wildlife documentary i see there ^^!! i also LOVE video essayist on YouTube, on literally every topic, I'd eat it up, since we're talking about true crime/horror Nick Crowly and Nexpo come to mind, but on lighter topics i follow many many essayists i lost track, i recently have been re-introduced to FunyFrogBait as she got viral again, i watched a video of hers long ago but never seen more, I'm currently binging her essays and i love it!!
and for my fav movies i honestly thought about sitting down and writing them all up to update them on my intro since it's still a messy draft T-T i have LOTS of movies and shows i love i just forget them whenever i need to remember lol, i like to classify my favs by genre, but if i was to recommend you some random movies i think they're cinematic masterpieces, 'd say: the grand budapest hotel (2014), moonrise kingdom (2012), blade runner (both Blade Runner 1982 and Blade Runner 2049), jojo rabbit (2019), the fall (2006), everything everywhere all at once (2022), jacques tati's playtime (1967), perfect blue (1997), the cell (2000), the witch (2015), paprika (2006), valerie and her week of wonders (1970), life of pi (2012), edward scissorhands (1990), memoirs of a geisha (2005), amelie (2001), cloud atlas (2012), the great gatsby (2013)
these are the ones that comes to mind :) they're different genres but overall they're very aesthetically pleasing to look at.

I’m rewatching TDP all the way up to S5’s release. So as I’m watching the credits for S2 ep 4 (because why would I skip them) this shows up.
I remember thinking this one was funny and a cute reference to The Great Gatsby when I first watched it. But since then I’ve read and watched Gatsby more times than I can count. Genuinely my favorite classic.
And it got me thinking. Why??? Why would they specifically reference this?
We all know they’ll throw in stuff in the credits we get to see or understand in the future (Ethari, Queen Aditi, etc)
So why this?
Time to combine two of my hyperfixations.
Most of this will be in reference to the 2013 adaptation of The Great Gatsby directed by Baz Luhrmann since that’s where the scene of Gatsby toasting in front of the fireworks comes from.
So how does Gatsby’s story work with Aaravos’s?
Well after mulling it over I can actually think of quite a few.
So in S2 episode 4 we get basically our first actual introduction to Aaravos sure he’s got no actual dialogue yet and we did see a flash of him in the episode prior. But this is narratively our first actual introduction.
Now interesting enough we as viewers find out we have seen him before. Multiple times with the intro we see his hands, and in the first episodes backstory we see him in the background and he’s the narrator.
So if it’s not necessarily our first introduction to Aaravos then who’s is it?
Viren.
Viren I’m going to insert in Nicks role in TGG just cause it makes sense narratively.
Now in TGG this scene:
Happens directly during Nick’s first actual interaction with Gatsby.
Now it should be mentioned this is not the first time they’ve seen each other. In fact it’s stated that Nick was being watched by his neighbor Gatsby for…idk a while.
And like Nick knew it he’d catch a glimpse of his hand in the window from time to time he just didn’t know it was Gatsby.
But anyway once again this fits with the fact we know Aaravos has been watching Viren from the other side probably the entire time.
So!!! Why does this matter.
Because in TGG no one knows shit about Gatsby. The mother fucker is elusive.
Literally at the party Nick is trying to track him down to thank him and LITERALLY no one knows what he looks like they just showed up to the party. Nick is literally the only person to have been invited because Gatsby just thought he’d show up like the rest of New York.
So while Nicks looking for Gatsby we get introduced to the most WILD theories about this man.
So anyway after getting shitface Nick and this woman Jordan (who’s a friend of his cousin Daisy) jokingly go exploring the house “looking” for Gatsby. (They’re not they’re just drunk af and having fun)
Anyways while exploring they end up in the mansion’s library. As they’re goofing around this older guy browsing the stacks starts telling them that they won’t find him and how the house and everything in it is an elaborate facade. (He’s right of course) so Jordan says she’s met him. And the guy asks them which version? The prince? The spy? The murderer? And goes on to say that he can’t find anyone who knows anything real about Mr. Gatsby.
And like if that’s not true for Aaravos, I don’t know what is.
Because all we know about Aaravos narratively has been told to us. We haven’t seen anything. Not really.
So who is he really?
Plus Gatsby’s main flaw is his attachment to the past his absolute refusal to move on.
And idk Aaravos more or less can’t actually move on since he’s imprisoned. But even narratively he stuck mentally where he was before imprisonment.
And that’s just another one of the many parallels I can draw.
Hell we don’t even get Gatsby’s backstory until the end of the movie pretty much and we barely know anything about Aaravos and we’re already headed into season 5.
Anyways I have a ton more thoughts on the comparison to Aaravos and Gatsby. I don’t want to spoil the ending of TGG for anyone who hasn’t read/watched it. GO READ OR WATCH IT. So I might eventually make a separate post.
Oh one other thing. The new money vs old money narrative in TGG could easily be reworked to fit Human’s learning magic (dark magic or not) and being born into an arcanum. And like Gatsby is new money which fits with Aaravos managing to connect to all the arcanum’s

Hey Gatsby people, I know I’ve seen ppl talk about a reincarnation AU and wanted to try my hand at it (thanks @writerinconstantcrisis for listening and helping this bullshit lmao). Please consider-
Nick, having successfully published his memoir The Great Gatsby, stands as the last of their group to die
The gang are reincarnated and run into each other just a tad earlier than before, their Junior Year of High School. They become great friends, absolutely clueless to their past lives
Spring of their Junior Year they get the good ol required reading of The Great Gatsby, in which their friend group just sorta laughs at it although Nick can’t shake this sense of Deja Vu reading it…
It comes to a head for him in the hallway one day leaving class when Jay calls him “old sport” (“because it sounds cool! I like it, I’m gonna bring it back.” “You’re gonna look like an idiot, James.”) Nick is hit with an entire lifetimes worth of memories in one go
Has to spend the rest of high school in constant crisis because none of the others know, they clearly don’t know, if they knew they wouldn’t be hanging around George and Myrtle so casually oh god he’s gonna be sick-
Jordan remembers next, at a graduation party. Nick decided to shoot the long shot and mention how he’s never liked small parties because there’s no privacy. Jordan is left reeling but at least Nick is there to help her
Daisy finds out next, although she’s alone when it happens. It’s their first year of college and she’s left reeling and on her own. At first Nick thinks nothing of her sudden texting spree in the group chat (which was jokingly named “The Gay Gatsby” back in high school and hasn’t changed) until Christmas, when he sees that look in her eyes and spends the rest of dinner staring her down until he can ask in private. She cries for an hour at least
Tom remembers second to last, his Junior Year of college when he and Daisy get together (on much better terms, mind you, and both he and Daisy are better people because screw you it’s my AU and I get to fix the characters) Like Daisy I’m not sure exactly what his trigger event is but it hits him and hard. First off, gaining a second lifetime of memories is rough. Second, he was an asshole oh my gosh. Third, he caused the death of someone he gets along with pretty well now (no, he and Gatsby are not best buds. They’re more like those friends who constant piss each other off as a show of affection). He’s not the other three there for him though so it’s not terrible.
Gatsby is last. First to die, last to remember and boy does it hit him like a brick. They’re out of college, hanging at Nick and Jay’s shared apartment (roommates, but room for ship because I do, but can be platonic) when someone says something and immediately everything shatters. His admittedly short life crashes back harder than the others’ ever did (except maybe Nick) and he is absolutely broken by it. It takes three days for Nick to be able to talk to him, and that’s not even beginning to acknowledge the others.
Once everyone is back and ticking, barely comprehending what’s going on mind you but they’re trying, they all vow to never let the events of that summer happen again. They’re on a good roll already but they need to keep it up. For everyone’s sakes
That’s the jist of it main plot wise. I’m gonna include some additional sillies under the cut. Feel free to ask/comment/whatever about this AU if you’ve got questions, because I have a lot of thoughts for it lmao
Additional disaster-
Every time someone remembers, they watch the 2013 movie together with those who know and laugh at the inconsistencies/wrong things. It helps them make light of their shitty pasts.
Furthermore, every time someone remembers Nick rereads the book. He can’t forget. He refuses to.
Once Jay remembered and the shitstorm passed, everything returning to as it had been was marked by everyone in their group chat sending some form of “Close enough, welcome back The Gay Gatsby.” Jay laughed for ages at it. Nick had to respond for him.
Everyone has dreams about their past life, although for some it’s more common. Namely for Nick and Jay, whose reoccurring dreams are more like nightmares
Nick feels responsible for everyone. He was the first to remember, he wrote the book, he has to be there for them better this time around. He fails to remember that they’re there for him too, which comes to a head when they find him passed out, locked in his room, surrounded by smudged pages on which he was once again trying to recall that summer by memory. Things get worse when he lets it slip that he was easily ten times worse when writing the original TGG. Mandatory group therapy amongst each other doubles in frequency, with the others refusing to let Nick just brush over the shit he was put through because of them.
Everyone calls bullshit on Nick’s flawless A in English 11. Why? “HE DIDNT HAVE TO READ SHIT! HE WROTE THE DAMN BOOK!” Nick claims that’s their problem, not his.
After first regaining his memories, Nick became very reclusive. He hid from his friends until they broke into his room, partially RAN from George and Myrtle every time he saw them, and became very invested in rereading TGG. Oddly enough though he wasn’t adverse to hugs, especially from Jay. In truth, it was because he just liked hearing his friend’s heartbeat. It helped remind him that he had a second chance, they all did
Jay and Tom argue a lot still, but about the stupidest things. Once things settled from Jay remembering, Jordan, Daisy, and Him were hanging out when suddenly they heard a loud argument approaching. Nick braced for the worst, only to find the two arguing about whether normal or Dino nuggets were better. Idiots.
Nick, having no other outlet for his feelings and thoughts toward his past life at the time, took to his English class’ book discussions to discuss and explain things missed or misunderstood. He was. Rather passionate about proving his point when someone tried to claim he was wrong. He wrote the book damnit!
Jordan is a Lesbian and proud, Nick is Gay, Gatsby is Bi. It’s practically stated in the book but I just need to say it here to be sure.
Jay has had an “irrational fear of pools” since he was a kid. It makes sense in hindsight
And I think that’s all I have for now! Please, if there’s any interest in this AU, do not be afraid to let me know. I will rant. I am trash. Don’t forget it
#the great gatsby#yeah I’m still in my hole#hey Ari! this AU look familiar? it should#haha I’m so glad I can finally tag you lmao#welcome to the hellsite sucker#chat please ask abt my aus#I have a good few#i will ramble#tumbler. help me reach the fellow Gatsby nerds#also yes. I do usually take the Natsby route with this but ofc it can be read as platonic#I’m a sucker for a good reincarnation au. Sue me#this story has so much potential for it tho!#also yes I’m already trying to write smth for this#until we meet again!

I remember when baz luhrmann released iconic gay cinema the great gatsby (2013) and people were like “what is this? Nick hated gatsby in the book” and that’s when i knew society was doomed cuz yalls reading comprehension was piss poor. Nick wanted to ride gatsby so hard what the fuck book had y’all been reading? Absolutely bonkers take those men were in gay love, gatsby was just a little slower on the uptake
#I think about them always but specifically Leo DiCaprio and tobey maguires versions#anyway I’m in the middle of reading an f Scott Fitzgerald bind up so when I get to gatsby…yall better watch out#I *will* be posting

Thanks @ofbooksandstardust for tagging me! Movies are literally one of my favorite things in the world!
Rules: posts 10 of your comfort movies and then tag 10 people
1. Dead poets society (1989): do i even need to say something? This movie is THE movie, it's literally perfect
2. Billy Elliot (2000): i literally grew up with this movie. I would watch it all the time with my mom and it's just so good <3
3. Mamma mia (2008): same reason as billy elliot (these two movies raised me). The setting, the songs, the cast, everything is perfect in this movie!
4. Charlie and the chocolate factory (2005): i honestly don't know what to say. It's just so much fun
5. Les Tuche (2011): french movie about a lower working class family winning 1 million € at the lottery and moving to monaco. The humour of this movie is so beauf as we say in french (i'm sorry i don't have any english word that fits) but i love it so much! Perfect for when i need a good laugh
6. Frozen (2013): i don't know what it is about this movie, i've seen it so many times and it just makes me so happy! I remember being like 12 and spending afternoons with my friend filming music vidéos for the songs, i also have another friend with who we sometimes look at each other and quote a scene. Just lots of good memories around this one <3
7. Little miss sunshine (2006): so good so fun so sad so lighthearted so deep so everything
8. The great Gatsby (2013): i'm in love with the aesthetics of this movie, it's so pretty to watch! I also love the (very random) soundtrack
9. Finding Nemo (2003): the first movie i was obssesed with! I would watch it all the time when i really young (like 2 or 3 years old)
10. Call me by your name (2017): makes me dream of spending my summers in a beautiful house somewhere in northern italy <3 the vibe of this movie is everything!! (the book made me really uncomfortable though)

I love supporting journalism but NYT is paywalled and we all need some GOOD NEW QUEER COMICS so posting the full article under the read more!
Original Article
By George Gene Gustines

‘The Dog Knight’
Frankie Jude Bryant is a nonbinary middle school student who is dealing with identity, the usual academic challenges and, oh yes, trying to become the Dog Knight, a champion for humans and canines. Despite the presence of magical talking pooches, this journey of heroism and self-discovery feels grounded thanks to captions that get into the head of Frankie, who prefers they/them pronouns. On the first page, they think, “Do you ever feel like you don’t make sense?” Later, Frankie muses about their frenemy Dallas, who misgenders them: “She gets it wrong on purpose just to make a big deal about correcting it.” And when Frankie finds their tribe, “For the first time in a long time, I look in the mirror and I don’t feel a pain in the pit of my stomach.” Written by Jeremy Whitley, drawn by Bre Indigo and colored by Melissa Capriglione.
‘Marry Me a Little: A Graphic Memoir’
The cartoonist Rob Kirby chronicles his 2013 march down the aisle in Minnesota with his longtime partner, John Capecci. The story highlights where gay marriage stood at the time (each state was making its own rules before same-sex unions became the law of the land in 2015) and looks back at Jack Baker and Michael McConnell, who somehow were able to obtain a marriage license in Minneapolis in 1971. The personal recollections are powerful and honest: Rob remembers when he first casually used the word “husband,” which felt like “a small but genuine political act.” He also acknowledges the white, middle-class privilege that allowed him ambivalence about getting married. His ultimate conclusion: “Marriage does not define a relationship. Unless you want it to.”
‘Gatsby’
The messages of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby” — about social status, love and chasing dreams — are revisited in the present with a racially and sexually diverse set of characters in their 20s. Gatsby is a Black tech millionaire looking for a love who got away, and Lu Zhao, the stand-in for Nick Carraway, is visiting from Singapore and summering on Long Island (where a $5,000-plus afternoon shopping spree highlights the casual wealth). The main characters are refreshingly blasé about their sexuality: Lu’s girlfriend, Alexis, asks, “How do you identify?” But Lu’s answer does not really matter as Alexis says, “I love being on this journey with you. I’m here for you no matter what.” Written by Jeremy Holt, drawn by Felipe Cunha and colored by Dearbhla Kelly.
‘Hex Americana’
The cartoonist Bree Wolf spins a tale about auto racing, teen romance, monsters and ghosts. Flesh-and-blood Ken forms an unlikely alliance with Dante, who died in a previous race and haunts his car as a ghost. A successful partnership will allow Ken to compete in the annual Grand Prix and help Dante move on to the afterlife. The more than 300-page story packs in a lot of character growth, action, flashbacks and drama. The relationship between Ken and Karen, his mother, is particularly nuanced. Karen is supportive of her son, who is gay, but she struggles with how to correct her overbearing friend James when he makes thoughtless jokes about Ken. (Iron Circus Comics. Aug. 30.)
‘Death Drop: Drag Assassin’
The Gayborhood, as it is called in this five-part series, has seen better days. Thugs feel empowered to assault young gay men, and a drag queen named Lunaira has gone missing from the club Posterior Delusions. Residents have little faith in the local police. Enter Death Drop, a former hit man and current drag queen, who is pushed by Mother Henny, the hostess of the club, to find Lunaira. “She’s a queen of color who has been missing for more than two days,” Mother Henny says. “You do the math.” It helps that Death Drop and Mother Henny used to date. Let the investigation begin. Written by David Hazan and drawn and colored by Alex Moore. (Scout Comics. June 14.)
‘Turtle Bread’
Kim-Joy, a British baker and cookbook writer, teams up with the artist Alti Firmansyah for this story about Yan, who is struggling with low self-esteem and social anxiety. When Yan finds a local baking club, she is plagued by doubts about whether she will fit in or be liked, but she soon learns that everyone struggles in different ways. Yan eventually becomes confident enough to rally the club members to seek out and support one of their fellow bakers who needs it. Yan would qualify as an ally, but there are characters with significant roles in the story who are gay and lesbian. And there are recipes, including one that gives this story its title. (Comixology Originals. Available now.)

Whats a film opinion thatll get you thrown into the stocks
Oh boy! I simply went to my “rated lower than average” on letterboxd and remembered that I despise Fresh (2022), The Neon Demon, and Love Actually. Lmao.
As far as opinion, hm. I think that remakes are not inherently bad (trust me, I’m still a hater), and they are as old as Hollywood itself. A Star Is Born, Love Affair, The Great Gatsby, Little Women, A Christmas Carol, etc etc have been remade several times over (and some are lost forever because they’re that old) and it’s telling about the era they’re from. It’s about whether there is good storytelling or creativity.
As far as the romcom-aissance that’s going on now, I do have a kinda controversial opinion. I don’t think the romcom was ever dead, because the way it’s been defined in the romcom-aissance is including straight to streaming movies and not just ones in theaters. And if that’s the definition, then I don’t think we’re suddenly getting an influx of good new romcoms! I think Anyone But You is genuinely good both on the big and small screen, but as always, not every romcom is good. (Trust me. I’ve watched hundreds and will watch hundreds more, because I love them, even though I hate some lol.) Quantity and quality and all that. There were some great romcoms that came out in the 2010s as romcoms continue evolving. (Some unwatchable ones, too!) However, they tend to keep putting comedy above the romance and I think that is incorrect!!! We need more straight up comedies, absolutely, Bottoms was so goddamn refreshing, but there’s a reason the rom comes first in romcom.
These are more just rants ummm. On the topic of comedies, I really don’t jive with overly raunchy gross comedies. Like, it is not the content I can’t handle, I’ll watch movies w unsimulated sex no problem, Filth (2013) is a fav, but like Bridesmaids is just not very funny to me and all the poop humor doesn’t help. I feel like that’s the real controversy is I don’t really like Bridesmaids. Love ya tho women!
Another is I’m getting tired of insane ensembles being the only pull. If it also has a great story I’m sold but let other actors have a shot idk. (This is on studios wanting zero risk; not on actors blocking out each other. Sigh.)
Idk if any of this is That controversial as you wanted lol but it’s all I could come up with at midnight
#i felt so-so about Babes from this year for a similar reaskn#but more female comedies pls#it’s better than bridesmaids for sure#i don’t even wstch most Bro Comedies lmao the furthest i go is 21 jump st#asks#anonymous#movie talk

lrb i am thinking about my senior skip day right now and i remember so strongly that the school was VEHEMENTLY AGAINST SENIOR SKIP DAY. like there were rumors(? maybe true?) that you wouldn't be able to go to prom or walk at graduation if you participated in Such Nonsense. I genuinely don't think we actually had one, and if we did I was deep into an AP test that day anyway.
HOWEVER. My parents were looking at houses one weekend at the very end of high school, because we were moving after I graduated, and so my older sister (like 20-21 at the time) was my legal guardian for that long weekend. And she said, hey, do you want me to call you out sick on Friday? And I said hell yes
So on my senior skip day it was just me on my own. I lived in a sprawling shitty suburb and I had no drivers license, so I walked down the side of the highway with only the vaguest of directions in mind. I bought a strawberry frosted donut, and then a shitty straw fedora from the dollar store, and then ran through a field of puffy dandelions where the sidewalk ended. I meandered to the nicer of our many strip malls and snuck a Chipotle bowl into the movie theater, where I watched The Great Gatsby (2013).
It's not wild and it's not fancy but it's the first time I ever did something that wasn't in the rules, that wasn't totally strictly Parent Approved, and it's a memory I really cherish. Yeah, there's a lot of freedoms our generation lost... and even though I meet kids today who talk openly about parties and drugs, on the whole I don't think these are freedoms the current kids have gotten back, at least not entirely. But I will always have the taste of that Chipotle bowl and that strawberry donut, and the way the dandelions looked flying up around my knees, and Leonardo DiCaprio surrounded by fireworks, and my shitty straw hat.
It was a really shitty hat.

Disclaimer: I watch movies all the time. This is not a list of favorites, necessarily, just movies I watch a lot when I’m depressed or uninspired.
1. Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
My absolute favorite movie. Every time I watch it I think it won’t be as good as I remember and it’s always amazing.
2. Shrek (2001)
Need I say more?
3. Encanto (2021)
The soundtrack is a banger, the animation is beautiful, and the story is sweet. I watched it almost every week for a month when it first came out.
4. The Great Gatsby (2013)
I know a lot of people have problems with this interpretation, but it was just ridiculous enough for me. The costumes and the music make me really happy and the slight vibes between Tobey Maguire and Leo DiCaprio were just enough for me to write an essay about in high school that made my teacher hate me. (Nick was infatuated with Gatsby. You can’t change my mind.)
5. Howl’s Moving Castle (2004)
Another one of my favorite movies. I wasn’t expecting to like it at all when I watched it for the first time over a year ago. Oops.

introduction <333
hi to anyone who sees this!! this account is new but I am not, unfortunately, I'm sure you can still find my blog from 2013 on here somewhere, but this time I'd like to try my hand at writing!! I'm in so many fandoms it's hard to keep track lol but I love harry potter, criminal minds, mcu (I've only seen like a few of the movies but there's so many sexy men)
the reason why i'm coming back to tumblr is to write!! I'm a 21 year old college student in the northeast and in the spring I'm taking a creative writing elective, so I'll probably post anything produced from that onto this blog :) so that's basically it, I'm now gonna list a bunch of my favorite things and send me a message if we have anything in common!!
tv shows: grey's anatomy, criminal minds duh, new girl, it's always sunny in philadelphia, bb/bcs, a bunch of others i can’t think of rn!!
movies: dirty dancing, the notebook, mean girls, legally blonde, PITCH PERFECT, andrew garfield’s peter parker will always be my #1, I liked the recent fnaf movie, obv harry potter but the fourth movie is my fav, my favorite Disney movie of all time is enchanted <3
books: fav hp book is chamber of secrets, anything john green, the great gatsby, the selection series (pls tell me someone remembers this)
songs: always changing but right now? i just remade my tumblr so I'm in a nostalgic and vaguely emo mood and I have northern downpour by patd stuck in my head </3
games: i am a religious sims 4 player and that will never EVER change. i also have an xbox where I play gta and cod sometimes when I'm feeling violent
oh also important: this blog is 18+, there will probably be sexual content and i just don’t feel comfy with minors following me, thanks!! i can't think of anything else to say, anyone who sees this I hope you have a good thanksgiving! <33 much love,
sunny ☀️🌻

are you kidding I fuckin love the banjo!!!!!!!!!!!! Also that's amazing that you play banjo yourself btw incredible!!!!!!!!! (with that being said could you recommend some good songs with banjo real quick cause I don't know any (´▪︎ω▪︎`)) also howdy 👋😊
It's funny, I'm trying to think of specific songs featuring banjo prominently but at the moment all I'm coming up with are artists that I listen to who I know have used banjo frequently or semi-frequently, like R.E.M. or the Decemberists, but trying to remember if a certain song actually had banjo in it or if it was mandolin or something else or maybe I'm just remembering...? Banjo or no, theyre both good bands, R.E.M.'s Automatic For The People is one of my fav albums, and Down By The Water, Rox In The Box, and Legionnaire's Lament are all Decemberists tunes in my usual banjo repertoire (Mariner's Revenge Song too, but I only play that every once in a while. It IS an 8 minute long song, after all).
But ok ok, if you want, like, Classic Banjo Recommendations you can't go wrong with Pete Seeger and Earl Scruggs n whatnot. And I wouldn't be doing my civic duty as a Bostonian if I didn't also mention The Kingston Trio with Charlie On The MTA (which has the honor of being the first song I ever played on my banjo!)
For some more popular modern hits, there's of course Mumford and Sons; for them I'll recommend Dust Bowl Dance and their cover of The Boxer. In Hell I'll Be In Good Company by The Dead South also comes to mind. And uhh do the kids still know Modest Mouse? Modest Mouse still on the radio? Satin in a Coffin.
And to close off this ask, two really good covers that utilize banjo that I'll rec are Self Esteem covered by Steve'n'Seagulls and the version of Love Is The Drug from the 2013 Great Gatsby soundtrack of all things (the banjo is subtle on that one but it's my favorite part of my favorite song on the soundtrack, so thats worth something)
