Lord Evrard: We're all together now.
Friar Dorian Horbrooke. "Dr. Horribilis" polymath, philosopher, scientist, theologian. A genius that some call a wizard with unmatched expertise on ancient texts.
Gerard de Vendhuile. Architect and artist of the future. Your mind knows no bounds and travels places some can only dream of
Langward Ardene. Physician and surgeon who has written about the unwrite-able. Leagues above your counterparts because you know there's more to everything than meets the eye.
Barnabas of Ballechey. Astronomer and alchemist you're one of the few people who has seen visions of places beyond. Cracks that have led to our coming here.
And there's Prince Warin. Manipulative smartass. You hear me? He's clever and got his people under his thumb. Hello? Y'all paying attention to me? He's willing to do anything to get what he wants and he never stops wanting. Keep your guard around him. Did I mention he was manipulative?

Ourthur makes me go feral for many reasons but also due to the dynamic of one guy who believes in the Trinity, one guy who believes in just one God, one guy who believes in no gods, and a god. I love them so much-

I don't agree with a lot of Sanderson's politics - and they aren't, in fact, based in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints doctrine, but rather Utah culture - but it also makes me pretty uncomfortable to hear you badmouthing the church I'm part of?
I badmouth religious organizations in general, Catholic Church included (in which I was raised) because they tend to be overwhelmingly corrupt and abusive towards their own church members (and especially towards people outside of them)
Mormonism in particular is especially bad for how being part of the church requires ā€œtithingsā€ from paychecks plus their treatment of women, minorities, and even men in ways that are almost so explicitly manipulative and cultish that it feels like it comes out of parody.
(For example, I simply declared, ā€œI am no longer catholicā€ and that was it. Done. You cannot generally do the same in LDS without incredible backlash and slander by its members)
And itā€™s very obvious when it shows up in fictional books by a lot of Mormon writers, because itā€™s so conservative that itā€™s a step or two behind the times.
Itā€™s not as bad as Westeros Westboro Baptist Church or Scientology, but thatā€™s not a high bar to clear.
If your time in the church was different, Iā€™m happy for you, because it means you likely avoided the worst parts of their abuse.
Still, if you have the time, Iā€™d suggest watching these videos (in no particular order):
Why I Left Mormonism - Video covering the creation of the channel ā€œCults to Consciousnessā€ and her abusive home life under the church
The BITE Model - Simple PowerPoint explaining the reoccurring factors of cults
Ex-Mormon Cast Reacts to Mormon Debates -Cast of ex-Mormon members react to a Mormon debate and highlight various lies and falsehoods presented, as well talk about teachings/history Mormon Church does not want revealed publicly
How the Mormon Church ā€˜Help Lineā€™ Hid Child Abuse - Exactly what it says. Survivors speak out and the church has done nothing for them or worse.
If you donā€™t want to watch these videos, if you canā€™t stomach the testimonies, ask yourself and others these questions:
- How often are you allowed to preach about Heavenly Mother?
- How often do you see women in power within the church, as in, deciding doctrine and not just playing piano or making food for the men?
- How often do you see minorities in power within the church, as in, deciding doctrine or being treated as a token?
- How often does your church talk about the incredibly high suicide rates for children and how itā€™s associated with its practices?
- How come when a racist, anti-Semitic, misogynistic etc Prophet speaks its ā€œthe word of Godā€ and doctrine, but then another Prophet can simply claim it was mere ā€œpolicyā€. Was ā€˜Godā€™ lying to the prophets? Were the prophets lying about God? How can you trust what is their words and what is God?
- How come the church hid $30 Billion dollars from the public and even its own lower members?
- How come the founder lied about what was on the Egyptian papyrus, claiming it was a translation from God, but people who can actually read Egyptian pointed out he was lying?
- How come you get treated differently for asking these supposedly easy to answer questions?
I do not go after Brandon or you because you happen to be religious. I think belief in a higher power is oneā€™s own choice and prerogative.
I instead care far more about the religious system that is using well-intended people like pawns for goals that pretty much boil down to money and power.

You know what, it would be hard to believe in Jesus when you're on your third(?) life. Everyone else is here (Earth) talking about YOLO, meanwhile Arthur "keeps fucking dying" Lester is like a cat with a bag full of lives and all of them are bad

I love podcasts and their attitude toward religion/faith
Midnight Burger: Religion is not a reason to be a bigot. It should be encouragement to help others. With religion you should offer people comfort and support, not a tool of oppression.
Forgive me!: Religion and people involved with it are flawed. Maybe the true faith can be find in support and comfort of community around religion.
The Amelia Project: We faked deaths of multiple biblical characters and used The Bible as an advertisement pamphlet.

It is important to understand that real knowledge is of the heart. Real wisdom is what we live. Real knowledge comes from experience, and more importantly, that experience of higher realities comes when we investigate our own heart, our own mind, our ways of living, and to look, not to assume that we know, ā€œI am of this race, this culture, this religion, this belief system, these politics, this upbringing.ā€ It means to really look at what is inside in terms of our emotions, our impulses, our will.
This active looking is precisely what every tradition teaches about meditation: to look, to observe, to acquire new informationā€•not to assume that we already know who we are, but to be open and to watch in a state of stillness, of observation, of clarity. It is that inner discrimination of ourselves that really helps us to distinguish right from wrong. It is our heart, our conscience, that tells us what is right and what is wrong. We may have traditions that tell us these things, but what do we know in our being about what to do? ā€• especially when we are faced with situations that are so complex that we are baffled. We are confused. We are overwhelmed, like you heard in Carmina Burana. When fate hits, the hammer of karma, of hardship, strikes, and we find all of those things that we typically ignore come to the surface of our mind, things we may neglect or fail to look at.

Actually, genuine question!! Did you worship the rot before listening to TMA or did it start after?
i was connected to the rot before hand but it ironically wasnt really until connecting to pre shit show ykw that i rly got the connection to the cycle
ive always loved n communed w my bugs n been drawn to rot but somthing abt introducing it as an entity rly spoke to me and awoke something in me
the way i worship the rot is also not based in fear necessarily - tho fear for me is the same emotion as hope
theres life and death
renewal and decay
hope and fear
hopefully that makes sense!

thinking about mirrors, cus yes Arthur and Wallace are mirrors, but more poignant to me is Arthur and Oscar. cus we know they are both "weak" in the same ways, Arthur says so himself, and it's a major point in which they bond over. but, it goes deeper.
Oscar is a priest, a follower and devotee of God. how much choice he had on this path is up for debate, but he clearly does it to Help. help others, maybe even as penance for not helping his best friend when he needed it most. and what is God, if not help, hope, comfort?
and there's Arthur, who's an atheist yet has a literal god entwined into his very soul. a Great Old One, unknowable and impossibly powerful, who nags at him to take care of himself, who helps him navigate the world, and who whinges about going to watch some damn movies.
now I'm not exactly religious, but isn't that what God is to most christians? a companion and moral compass, and a reassuring presence in their lives for good and bad times? a shepherd, to be specific. and damn, that's what John is to Arthur, someone guiding him in a literal and metaphorical sense, as much as Arthur does for him.
Arthur humanizes John, not just in helping him understand and embrace humanity, but in reassuring him of his personhood and individuality. and I can't help but be reminded of some folks saying that Jesus was the son of God yes, but also just a man. Son of man, wasn't it?
both Arthur and Oscar have a faith in them, but it comes from different places and it's used for different reasons, but ultimately leads them to walk a similar road regardless. their bond runs much deeper cus I'm positive Arthur doesn't see this shared trait, but Oscar does. I'm sure that's why he says that Arthur is his purpose, and that God made their paths cross.
what I'm trying to say is that Arthur has one more point on the hypocrisy board by being a christian-coded atheist /j

6.8: Fighting the Far Right's Attack on Public Education with Dr Sam Myovitch
Across the USA, the far right candidates have been getting themselves elected to local and county school boards. Their goals include financially choking public schools by diverting government funds toward charter schools, often religious in orientation. Tune in to hear what Dr Sam Myovich, retired history teacher turned school board candidate campaign field coordinator, has to say about whatā€™s at stake, the far rightā€™s deployment of fascist tactics in their fight to destroy public education, and what we ordinary citizens can do to fight back against them, save our schools, and protect our very democracy itself.
