God bless this prodigal woman. I see her being a powerful vessel for Christ. God you finish what you start and this seed has been planted into this good soil.
Such powerful evangelicalism. Ordained and an amazing move of God. Not by our might but HIS! — so much boldness and love and POWER of Christ exuding from Ptr. Richard. I also declare and decree that this woman will never be the same in the name of Jesus. For Your glory and Yours alone.
1 Corin 2:4 — “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power”

well i'm comforted by the knowledge that book!armand has some faith in the christian god (and, like, that this faith is vital to his character) because it means theres absolutely no fucking way they'd just do that one-to-one in the show and so we're one step closer to an exploration of show!armand's relationship with islam
#iwtv#armand#the vampire armand#armand iwtv#interview with the vampire#i cant find a source on whether assad is muslim or not like i know there was that one interview where he said he grew up in a#muslim community#but that doesnt necessarily mean hes muslim himself/was raised muslim/if his parents are muslim#but i still think theres a good to fair chance that when he was called in to the writers room to discuss show!armand and to#collaborate with the writers over how show!armand is different to book!armand#that this was because armand's weird relationship with faith in the show will be concerned with islam rather than christianity#(and also because assad is south asian and show!armand is a delhiite but that so far isnt relevant to his character in the same way#that i know religion WILL be. because thats how it is in the books)#im lowkey trying to watch as many interviews as possible so that i can envision s3 in my mind. patient needs s3 to live.#anyway we poppin the biggest bottles when armand has a complicated relationship with islam in s3. or something#also i have something else to say but it's a pretty major book spoiler so this is your warning to look away#if im right about this. i wonder whatll change about armand attempting suicide#because the christian conception of heaven hell and repentance doesnt exist in islam#so yea. i wonder how exactly the suicide attempt will be characterised/if it will be to do with his faith in god or something else#because its lestat fucking with him that leads him to try and kill himself anyway? hes like hey i met the devil. god is real btw#not sure lestat has a keen enough understanding of islam to pull off the equivalent but yanno#(maybe that points to show!armand being christian and not muslim. but thatd be boring and i dont like that idea🧡)#thunder rambles#armandposting

2 Kings is so outta pocket lol
Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. [Word of God is ALIVE-John 1:1/John 1:14]
Starting by asking God sincerely in your heart for the leading of the Holy Spirit to understand will change everything. Anyone, including professing Christians, can read scripture by the mile yet remain unmoved, untouched, or worse rather more hard-heartened towards God, yet the Holy Spirit, of many things, He is the greatest teacher to open our eyes to understanding—we can’t understand the things of God on our own, not with our itty itty itty bitty human comprehension.
John 3:3 — Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Daniel Isaiah and Revelations though, no movie that is out could even compare (though we are seeing the book of Revelations/Daniel unfold before our very eyes).
so i started reading the bible cus i was interested in what it actually talks about and the stories and like the first section is about God and he just straight up creates everything?

You’re never gonna heal continually loitering in the same old and dark areas/mindsets you once writhed in, around and aligned and submitted to the same roots that kept you bound.
Enough is enough of writhing with those who rejoice in your brokenness and the unhealed version of you— where are those who are going to rejoice in the healed and transformed (glory to glory) version of you in Jesus Christ?
We are called to Love God, and Love Others as we ourselves. Loving with compassion and yet with wisdom, but you have seen a great light. No more writhing not by our might but by God’s mighty Spirit.
To those crowds, it’s you that suddenly starts to look like the crazy one even when you’re getting set free from every curse, bondage, and stronghold and getting set on fire by the grace, love, mercy and the FIRE of God The Most High, who all the splendor, honor, praise, and glory belongs to.

1 TIM 4:1 — Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
MATT 24:6-14 — And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
No coincidences — everything all by design though, we choose whom we’ll serve today.

Fic Snippet: Complicated Relationships
Religious trauma comes in some interesting flavors when gods walk among you.
random little snippet from The AU In Which All the Marriages Are Arranged that i thought y'all might like
~500 words, canon-typical gods and possession talk, also some referenced murder.

Xornoth had been inside Aeor's church exactly once since...since Everything.
It had been the night they'd taken the throne; once they'd talked Scott down from his panic enough to sleep they'd left him in the palace and gone straight to the church. They'd thrown the door open and stormed across the threshold and up the aisle to the altar. Lurching side to side with exhaustion and unfamiliarity with the added gangliness they'd gained from their most recent growth spurt. Trailing mud and blood and the smell of the soot and smoke that was all that remained of their parents' corpses.
The few priests still there had scattered. Even those who had taken their side. Xornoth had ripped the crown from between their antlers and slammed it down on the fine woolen altar cloth, staining the white and gold with the rusty-brown of old blood. Their father's blood.
"If he ever hears your voice the way I hear Exor's," Xornoth had proclaimed through gritted teeth, the heat gathered at their fingertips singeing the fabric. "Then I will burn this place to the ground, grind the ashes into the midden, and turn that statue of yours out there into so much dust."
That's not how it works, you fool! The demon in their head roared in rage, You cannot escape me. And he cannot escape my brother. It is fate! Balance! A Battle forever locked!
Xornoth did not look away from the golden antler crest above the altar. "Do you understand me, Aeor?"
There was no response in words but the atmosphere in the sanctuary shifted, the few candles still lit flickering as if bent by a breeze. A vague sense of acknowledgement rolled over Xornoth's soul and they took the choked off anger from the place in the back of their mind where Exor dwelt to mean it was an affirmative.
Xornoth had never been an elf of many words. They left the heat-warped crown there on the altar, glistening golden in the low lights.
And Scott's mind had always been his own.
His mind but not, apparently, his life, Xornoth thought as, decades later, they once again stood on those same, flawless quartz stairs, a different crown for the same kingdom settled between their antlers, a weight rendered almost invisible from familiarity.
And whose fault is that? Exor sneered. Xornoth ignored him. Turning on their heel to jab a finger at the back of the stag statue's head.
"If I step foot in here and you smite me, Scott will be sad. And he'll have to be king and then he'll never have a full nights sleep ever again and you know it."
They pause a moment. There is no response but there is no roll of thunder either or sudden stormhead over the mountains, so that is probably as good as Xornoth is going to get.
Enough procrastinating. They have a brother to apologize to.

something i think is funny to do is to try and think of the differences between armand and lestat. zero emotional regulation? both of them have that. absolutely kill themselves in devotion to their companion? check check. fraught relationship with god? convinced they're going to hell so they refuse to let themselves die? lie and manipulate others and commit horrific acts of violence because they believe they know what's best for the other person? ding ding ding! genuinely the only thing i've come up with that's different between the two of them is that lestat acts with no filter whereas armand feels the need to launder his own emotions through his various façades and belief systems in order to express them at all. (until the gremlin comes out).

Since it's not going in my article due to space constraints, i'll share a bit about Jane Manning James here. It won't be superfleshed out atm bc it got cut. I plan to do more later. As I am *Reorganized*, writing this for a Community of Christ publication, i researched Ld-S shared history to the point of Nauvoo. my article doesn't follow west (technically). the main resource was an LDS one (thank you v much for your freely available archive) asking about her time with the prophet of the Restoration.
Jane Manning James
Tumblr media
A significant Black Latter Day Saint from the early church was Jane Manning James. A woman from Connecticut notably made the walk from Buffalo, New York to Nauvoo, Illinois on foot, with most of her family. This was only after being separated from the group of recently converted latter day saints in Buffalo, possibly due to their race. Jane was baptized in 1842 by missionaries in her home state of Connecticut. She recorded these things about her journey and arrival to Nauvoo and her faith when asked to recall her life living with Joseph Smith in 1905.
“When I went there [Nauvoo] I only had two things on me, no shoes nor stockings, wore them all out on the road… They [Joseph and Emma] was looking for us because I wrote them a letter. There was eight of us, my mother and two sisters and a brother and sister-in-law, and we had two children, one they had to carry all the way there, and we traveled a thousand miles.”
She was sure in her belief of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and Modern Prophecy. She says in her recollection, after seeing that Joseph Smith Jr was indeed the man in her vision in Connecticut, that “This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and there will never be any other on earth. It has come to stay.” Sister James would later go west with the saints under the leadership of then Apostle Brigham Young.
--------
me tumblr posting again:
thank you for the example set Sister James on faith, dedication, and perseverance. She also had spiritual gifts, such as speaking in tongue and faith healing. She believed following the gospel, knowing it was a key to a better way of living life (for her.) it wasn't easy for her, and yet, i think the faith community i observe today (and mormonism in general) is better, just for her having lived it.
may she be at peace, and in a manner God, Sister Jane herself, and her family she led that meant so very much to her, see fit.
#the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints#latter day saint#afrostake#tumblrstake#mormon#mormon history#mormonism#religion#they dont mention anything about sealing bc we don't have it#most reorg saints don't know it exists nor that it was ever practiced#its simply assumed that will be the case. that your family will be there (and that there will be work to be done)#so i say it is unlikely that Sis Jane is actually eternally sealed to the Smiths as a servant bc God is no respecter of persons#who even said that Joseph is in the CK. he could be in the Telestial Kingdom rn as we speak. depending on how time / resurrection day works#Jane may be in the CK maybe having a sisterly relationship with Emma if that's how the afterlife works#i also don't believe the kingdoms are permanent. as a side note. if Joseph Jr ain't there i think he can be in God's time.#and josephites (reorganized saints) don't have a way to report card which kingdom they'll go too#and nobody talks about it bc its the afterlife and community of christ doesnt focus (or sometimes doesn't even care) about the afterlife#i've heard it talked about in depths twice and in general maybe 4-5 times. know a brother i meet with weekly who is newly widowerd#no one seems to think the work is over and that we well still be working and progressing in our faith helping others progress after death#that one is cultural - may come from common unwritten- early lds belief since L-dSaints have a new direction and more developed idea of thi#but for the sake of all sakes#can they not reseal her?#certainly a prophet could - listening to Gods call of liberation - see the symbolism and cultural moment that could be#or does post mortem sealing go off the rails? i don't go here. its often sweet and i think harmful in some ways too. JS Jr would Just Do It#but alas - i dont think emma should be involved with any of that. she wouldn’t want to do anymore sealing#i just think if you can do a baptism after death why not a sealing. but doing one would perhaps open a floodgate?#but perhaps its time for those many church generation Black families to be able to have that with they're bygone relatives#once i gave a mourning period & lively death procession & lively dance celebration on the alantic coast to#to honor all my ancestors/ predecessors who were killed and thrown into the sea or would rather die than be enslaved and jumped#danced in the same ocean they died in and dumped (state park approved) flowers into the sea
