Reincarnation: ADDO Remaster
My favorite game series ever just had a remaster, and because I’m utterly obsessed and have too many thoughts on things, I figured I might as well write a more formal post. I’ll put under a read more so I don’t clog your feed, but TL;DR: I love it but you should play the old one first.
Gameplay
Okay, let’s start with what everyone actually cares about. This version of ADDO uses the inventory system that most of the other games do, unlike the first game that relied on clicking things in the exact right order. Honestly, this is a much better approach. It allows for different interactions (observe, use, talk) and fits better with the other games and with the controls in TROAE (TROAE is still unreleased for anyone outside of the Kickstarter, but it uses the same wheel system), so it serves as a nice transition for whenever that game gets released. The different angles for some of the rooms serve as both an extra challenge, such as the mouse hole living room puzzle (sorry for spoilers for a game that came out in 2008 btw), and to make things a little clearer, such as the picture puzzle in the upstairs hallway and the bedroom/bathroom. There’s also a tutorial at the very beginning of the game, so there’s not as much guesswork as the first game. This also helps establish Luke’s relationship with the demons more clearly than him just talking at the player like in the old introduction. Though speaking of…
Lore
Okay, so, the remaster does address how people go to Hell, how they can escape via reincarnation, and how demons go after them, plus Vile does give lines to indicate that the death needs to look accidental. However, I think a key part is missing, mainly that they don’t explain the urgency. In the old game, Luke tells the player directly that if enough souls reincarnate and get to Heaven, God will shut down all of Hell. To me, that provides more incentive for why Luke works the demons so hard. “But doc,” you say, “that’s not necessary. He’s the devil, he can be a dick to his demons.” True, but as a player, that one piece of information adds stakes. And it’s also very important for the eventual TROAE release since that’s a major part of what sets off the events of the story. Is it world-ending that that wasn’t included? No. Honestly, this game is advertised for established fans, so they should be familiar with that premise already if they remember the story. But for those who need a refresher or those who are new…
Personal Recommendation
I say play the first ADDO, well, first. It’s from 2008, so it will show its age, but I think it’s important for both the history of the game and for some additional story context. If you play ADDO Remastered right afterwards, it’ll be a wonderful compare and contrast, and it will actually make the puzzles in the new one a little easier in some areas. You’ll also get some fun little inside jokes. Of course if you REALLY want to get into all the games and see them develop from point A to B without a sudden jump, all the games are complied into one playlist on the Newgrounds website. Again, some of them haven’t aged well (looking at you ITNOE), but it’ll help you get more of a love for Vile and see how Hell works. If anyone wants a more narrowed down list, let me know, but I still say it’s best to experience all of them.
If you’ve made it this far, cool. Here’s some out of context fun points to try:
-Talk to the Newton’s cradle as your tutorial interaction. Luke has the same response no matter what, but this version of the interaction is the funniest to me
-Investigate the rug and button in the tutorial area with observe and use
-Talk to all the animals. All of them
That ends my ramblings for now, but I’m sure I’ll think of at least twenty other things to say after I post this.

Okay but it's super interesting how
Din = Power = Ganondorf
Naryu = Wisdom = Zelda
Farore = Courage = Link.
Because Din, in the hylian creation myth, created the physical world. Naryu then created the laws - gravity, time, etc. And Farore finally created life - plants and people.
Din created the body, naryu the mind, Farore the soul.
And the triforce and its wielders so perfectly reflect that.
Ganon is physical power, he is big and intimidating and he breaks things. He is cunning and determined, but that's not what he focuses on. He is might makes right.
Zelda is wisdom and cleverness. She is stall tactics and information and team work. She is a powerful mage with a spine of steel, but that's not how she'll win. She is the pen being mightier than the sword.
Link is courage and persistence. He is the wild card sneaking behind enemy ranks, always moving, plunging into terrifying situations head first. He's a phenomenal fighter with a keen wit, but that's not what will get him through his challenges. He is bravery not being the absence of fear but the triumph over it.
They sit in perfect parallels to each other.
And ganon is reborn through his body - his resurrection is immortality. No matter how low he is cast, as long as he has a body he can claw his way back. He can cling to his power, build it ever higher.
Zelda is reborn through the magic of her bloodline. It's the accumulated knowledge handed down for generations, the unique power she must master, the skills she must develop to survive and get her kingdom out the other side intact. Even her name, the knowledge of herself, is handed down from all the way from the very first. Her ancestors knowledge of her future presence, her stability, is what gives her the edge.
Link is reborn in spirit. He is not bound by flesh or blood. Just like his wanderlust soul he can reappear in any time or place. His variation, his unpredictability, is exactly how he fights. It's what makes him so hard to pin down.
Ganons need to build strength means he can't chase after link. Links impulsiveness means zelda can outwit him. Zeldas stationary predictability means she's an easy target for ganon.
But the other direction?
Fire melts ice, ice redirects lightning, lightning burns fire.
And that's the very essence of the triforce.
#It's little details spread across the games like this that just makes it work so WELL it's SO COOL#They're all great at all parts of the triforce but they CHOOSE to focus on the path most meaningful to them#And that's literally reflected in their unique cycles of reincarnation isn't that just AMAZING#And that's why the team up is so important! If they were all working against each other they'd be locked spinning their wheels#If zelda and ganon teamed up link would immediately die and if link and ganon teamed up zelda would instantly perish#It's the link zelda team up that means ganon is the one who kicks it#Also the elemental thing was cool but they do jump around a bit. Like wind is there half the time#In botk the gerudo have lightning and the goron have fire. Farosh still has lightning tho and dinraal fire#In ss lanaryu was the lightning and faron had water like its all over the place thematically. And that's when it's only 3!#Don't even get me started on the 5/7 lots notankyu#But that's the most common group and it's also thematically accurate#Fire being the only one able to self perpetuate with fuel. Can be banked up again. Ice compresses with time but needs the right environment#Lightning go boom 👍 you can feel the static in the air but you don't know when/where it'll strike and then it's all over#Like fr it's hilarious zelda and ganon are playing the long game and link runs past eats all the pieces and while ganons yelling after him#Zelda checkmates his king. And nobody can prove she wasn't cheating because nobody was looking lmao#Ah the duality of metaphors#ANYWAY isn't that so neat???#Reason no.372 why rhoam was a terrible king he didn't just screw up he did it ✨thematically✨#If link had been allowed to run off and get dirty and if zelda was allowed to study her interest (like post kingdom fall FOR EXAMPLE)#They'd have won (like aoc) but nooooooo. I've already made a post (or 3) about it lmao I'll be quiet now#loz#legend of zelda#botw#triforce#loz link#the legend of zelda#zelda#loz botw#ganondorf#loz ganon

I’m tempted to write the knights (plus Merlin, Gwen, Arthur, and Morgana obviously) having game night but reincarnated in the modern era, knowing they can’t kill each other but also wanting revenge for 1500 year old grudges.
Morgana would be petty towards Merlin and Arthur still, but whenever she says something about Merlin killing her, Gwaine just rolls his eyes like: “Oh no. The horror. I can’t even begin to imagine what torture you must’ve suffered.” Completely deadpan followed by “go fish, witch.” Or “uno, fuckers!”
Arthur makes Merlin constantly skip turns. Merlin gets annoyed but Arthur says he can’t cheat if he’s missing turns. (He’s more salty about Merlin cheating at dice with his magic than anything else)
Elyan and Leon gang up against Gwaine as revenge for all the tavern tales he told on long patrols.
Leon changes to colours he knows Merlin or Arthur don’t have and just says “Poetry” to explain why he’s upset. Merlin starts playing the ghost busters theme on his phone and Arthur is stuck between being traumatised and wheezing on the floor. Leon’s just wondering if that’s worse because at least ‘poetry’ would’ve meant they’d gotten over the pining. Whatever Merlin’s talking about with ghost busters means he didn’t walk into anything Merthur happening but also means he’s got another reason he was underpaid.
Gwen makes Morgana +16 and Morgana complains that they’re friends. Gwen looks her dead in the eyes and says “We were friends. Want a reminder of what happened?” And Morgana silently counts 16 cards. (They’ve made up about it all, but it’s still used as ammo to be petty and competitive on game nights)
Lancelot and Merlin have their own thing going on, no one can tell if they’re working together or trying to destroy each other. They all know better than to question it.
Percival wins because everyone always forgets about him.
Please tell me you see the vision.

Part 1

Part 2
Main Character Prince x NPC Fem Reader
Tittle: "Awakening in a World of Survival: The Prince's Fate"
In the midst of the bustling traffic, a man was crossing the street, his eyes glued to his phone. Without a glance to his left or right, he continued walking, oblivious to the world around him. On the phone screen, an RPG survival otome game, currently popular, displayed a scene where his character was conversing with a female NPC. Every now and then, a faint smile crossed his face, satisfied with the progress he was making in the game.
People around him began to panic. A large truck was speeding toward him, far too fast to stop in time. Some bystanders started shouting, trying to get his attention. "Watch out!" "Get out of the way!" "There's a truck!" But the man heard nothing. His earphones blasted music, drowning out all the warnings. Still focused on his phone, he moved his character to give a gift to the NPC. Unfortunately, the gift was rejected because it could only be given to one of the available love interests.
Finally, he looked up. His eyes met the truck's grille barreling toward him at full speed. Time seemed to slow down. The man froze, shocked, his mouth slightly open. The truck was too close, and there was no time to react. The inevitable collision occurred. His body was flung into the air, while the truck sped away, leaving the scene.
The world around him went silent. The man felt no pain, only emptiness. His body felt weightless, but he couldn’t move. People gathered around, some trying to help, but their voices sounded distant, like they belonged to another world. His eyes grew heavy. He was so tired, unbearably tired. As the darkness began to swallow him, he surrendered to the exhaustion, slowly closing his eyes for what he thought would be the last time.
But when he opened his eyes again, the scene before him was entirely different. Gone were the crowded streets and panicked people. Instead, he found himself in an unfamiliar bedroom. The room had a vintage, aristocratic feel, with tall windows draped in golden curtains. The bed he lay on was adorned with luxurious silk sheets, and a grand chandelier hung from the ceiling.
Confusion clouded his mind. Wasn't he just dying? Hadn't he already died? Before he could make sense of it, the door to the room swung open, and a maid entered. Upon seeing him awake, she gasped, then quickly bolted out of the room, calling for a doctor.
The man was left stunned. What was happening? Slowly, he rose from the bed and walked towards the large mirror in the corner of the room. What he saw stopped him in his tracks. The reflection staring back at him wasn’t his own. Long, silver hair cascaded down his shoulders, his eyes were a sharp blue, his skin flawless and pale, and his body was taller and more athletic than it had ever been.
“This… isn’t me,” he whispered.
The aristocratic face in the mirror seemed hauntingly familiar. "Damn it! I’ve been isekai’d into the game I was playing?!" he exclaimed in panic. It didn’t seem possible, but the reality before him was undeniable.
He had been transported into the body of a prince from a small, prosperous kingdom, the main character in the RPG survival otome game he had been playing. In the game, the prince would embark on a grand adventure to expand his kingdom’s power and search for legendary artifacts to battle the demons that would rise again after being sealed away for a hundred years.
With a deep breath, the man—now a prince—realized that his life was no longer just a game. Great challenges lay ahead, and he would have to find a way to survive in this new world.
___
The prince, or the main character, was named "Leonhart Valerian," the crown prince of a small yet prosperous kingdom, destined to become a powerful leader. At 15 years old, Leonhart was on the path to grow into a strong prince who would lead a great battle against the rising demons that had been sealed away for a hundred years.
___
Leonhart sat on his bed, his body still weary from the recent events. Around him, the royal doctor carefully examined him, while the king and queen stood by his bedside, their expressions filled with concern. The queen’s eyes brimmed with tears of relief, overjoyed that her only son had woken up after the terrifying accident. Leonhart remained silent, feeling awkward under their watchful eyes, especially because he wasn’t truly the "Leonhart" they knew. He felt like a stranger in the body of the prince.
The doctor eventually finished the examination and declared that Prince Leonhart had no serious injuries. His brief coma had been caused by shock from falling into the river, but aside from that, he was perfectly fine. Hearing this, the king and queen sighed in relief. The queen immediately approached Leonhart, gently holding his hand with motherly tenderness. "I was so afraid you wouldn’t wake up," she said, her voice trembling with emotion.
Leonhart felt guilty but tried to soothe her. "I’m fine, really. There’s nothing to worry about," he reassured her, his voice calm yet firm. The king also expressed his concerns, and once again, Leonhart did his best to reassure both parents, whom he had only just met in this world.
Thankfully, the game had a feature that allowed Leonhart to view the character’s memories, so he had already studied the history and relationships of the prince. After the king and queen returned to their royal duties, Leonhart was left alone in his chamber.
Sitting there, he began to recall the game’s storyline. Currently, Prince Leonhart was 15 years old, and the main storyline wouldn’t begin until he turned 20. The demon seals would start to break when he turned 22, which meant he had seven years to prepare for the impending catastrophe.
One of the first things Leonhart noticed was the absence of any system interface or quests appearing before him. It seemed like he was free to do as he pleased, without the constraints of the game’s rules. This was a great relief. Now, he could start collecting vital artifacts much earlier than the main plot intended.
Beyond that, there was a personal goal that Leonhart felt strongly about. He wanted to meet (name), an NPC character in the game who had been unavailable as a love interest, but whom Leonhart had always admired. Previously, he was frustrated because he couldn’t give (name) the special gift, but now, with full freedom, he was determined to approach her and present the gift when the time came.
Leonhart smiled to himself. (name), the girl he considered the love of his life, was now within reach. In his heart, despite how excessive it may sound, he always had deep feelings for her, more so than any of the game’s designated love interests. Now, he was eager to begin his journey—not only to save the world but also to win the heart of the girl he had always dreamed of.
"One day, I will give you the Azure Eternis, (name)," Leonhart whispered to himself with determination.
___
The ring was named "Azure Eternis," a simple blue ring imbued with extraordinary power. Not only was it a symbol of engagement, but it also possessed magical abilities for self-defense, including teleportation, offensive magic, and the ability to track the wearer’s location. Only a true love interest in the game could accept this special ring.
