@regulusblacx + Jasper
January 18th, 1982
Borgin & Burke's, Knockturn Alley
Jasper didn't strictly enjoy dallying in Knockturn Alley. However, not everyone who dallied there was so bad. The reputation of the district was in shambles and for good reason, of course. However, Jasper was always fond of the notion- and occasional truth- that not all who were different were evil or of ill intent.
And so it was that Jasper was here at Borgin & Burke's. While he liked the wares it had to offer for their rarity and alchemical values, there was something- someone- more valuable inside. It hadn't been too long since Jasper has started colluding with the Order, but it was from this very shop that the proprietor's apprentice, once a classmate, would hand off important notes. Jasper often ferried small items or notes to other members of the Order from here, as the apprentice was a spy for the Dark Lord himself.
The bell rang faintly, in a minor tone, as Jasper entered, dusty tweed jacket and his favorite weathered green tie. He was no longer nervous coming into this shop, no longer afraid of his reputation should anyone he know see him coming or going. The only person he cared about in the room was Regulus Black, the apprentice. Jasper began to browse the featured new items, searching for any seasonal or interesting items that might help with his research. His mind wandered.
Regulus Black. Once, Jasper had admired him from afar, an accomplished Slytherin student with a dark, broody attraction. Yes, indeed, Jasper had once fancied Black, back when he was first discovering that men were his interests, not women. He had been deeply disappointed to hear he had joined the Dark Lord, but that was around the time Jasper was going through his own griefs.
Ah, but what a joy to see Regulus now! Helping the order in his own way. Jasper was always glad to see him now at his visits, and admired him in a wholly new way from when he was a boy. Regulus was brave, a man who was doing his best to correct his mistakes and the mistakes of others.
Plucking a bundle of bowtruckle bait and a small tome of Werewolves of Poland from the featured item shelf, Jasper proceeded to the counter, hoping to see the familiar face of Regulus.
"I don't suppose you have the latest edition of Dark Creatures Quarterly?"

regulusblacx:
Whoever had placed Regulus in charge of the hostages was out of their minds. He didn’t have a commanding personality in the slightest. In fact, he was considered quite meek for a Death Eater. He supposed it was a better option than to be out there battling against his own brother and the rest of the Order. Regulus had been instructed to keep the civilians separated from the others so that they would have as little chance to plan escape, and to use deadly force as necessary. It was the last thing Regulus wanted to do– inflict pain on anyone. That was until he heard that blasted kazoo playing again.
“Shut that thing up,” Regulus hissed through his mask at the man, pulling his wand from his robes, yet not aiming it. He didn’t know how he had landed himself with the weirdest hostages of the bunch, the hippie looking couple who seemed to think this was all some tea party. “Or I will shut it for you.”
.
Xenophilius pulled the kazoo away from his lips, looking up into the mask of the death eater with still eyes.
“It’s just as much for your benefit as it is for everyone else-” he explained a little defensively, cupping in the instrument in both hands to protect it. “It is for easing emotions, heightening calm auras, increasing the focus of folypinx that may be near by... really, it is in your interest to let me play. Just enjoy the sound bath.”
Xen regarded the death eater, his face earnest in his explanation and request. He was, of course, tense from the situation, but he genuinely believed this would help.
! open starter ! Gringots Bank MAY 26, 1982
He was going to be able to hold this over Pandora's head forever. Usually, when the time arrived that they had to leave the house, Xen was still very good at postponing the trip for another several weeks, until their homestead was in need of so many things that it was becoming inconvenient.
But to Xenophilius, there was always a workaround. Always a way to use what you had, what you could find, what you could make. It was fun, and it was a challenge and it was not getting held hostage in a bloody bank.
Pandora, at least, was fine. She was making polite conversation with their surrounding captive colleagues. Glancing over at the nearest soul, Xen gave them a nod, reaching into his cloak. "I think I have something that will help us all..."
Slowly, preciously, Xen extracted a short, flat wind instrument from his robes, bringing it up to his lips.

[ A delicately wrapped parcel arrives containing an heirloom silver watch with the initials S.O.B engraved on the back. ]
For surviving another year. Father wanted it to be yours. — R.A.B
Sirius gave the owl a treat as he unburdened the bird of the delicately wrapped parcel. It was the same wrapping paper that had greeted him every birthday and Christmas and for a foolish moment, Sirius thought Walburga had sent him a gift. But the owl wasn't Walburga's. He recognised it as the bearer of news from Regulus. The same that had carried him with the note of Orion's passing, the same one that had recently started arriving to him with letters after years of no correspondence.
He didn't pay attention as the owl swooped away, the parcel heavy, yet it barely weighed anything. Part of him didn't want to unwrap it, to let the mystery house wishful dreams instead of brutal reality. Yet, Sirius was curious, too eager for gifts as not to accept it, tear into it. He found himself in their cramped kitchen, the narrowness of it a comforting hug, the clutter of life a grounding anchor.
The parcel was delicately wrapped, indeed. There were no tears in the wrapping paper like Sirius managed when he got too eager to wrap up and give away, the folding was neat and picture-perfect. He envisioned the studious, careful, perfectionist boy who always shut himself up in his room wrapping the gifts, trying to exchange the boy into the man Regulus had grown up into. A flutter of sadness shook Sirius's heart at the difficulty of it, the stark reminder of the years wasted like a desert between them.
The note attached to the parcel strangled Sirius's heart. Reminders of Orion were still too raw, the angry resentment of the sudden death and no solutions tormenting him still. Loose ends that might have been able to be tidily tied, had Orion not succumbed to the Black's notion to die so young. Besides how broken Remus had found him when he had got Regulus' letter of their father's passing, Sirius rarely allowed anyone to realise just how complicated his feelings towards his family were. It was easier to see it in black and white, a choice more so than the truth.
Gifting the care put into the wrapping, Sirius opened it thoughtfully. The sight of the clock another reminder of the time lost, of what could have been, of changes impossible to make as it was already vowed into the fabric of time. Sirius stared at it with the same grey eyes as the clock. It was beautiful. Clearly made by the best clockwork, expensive beyond belief, but not pompously so. The details were full of Orion as his father through the clock so clearly showed that he had listened, and had seen him. Years together in Orion's study manifested into the details of the clock Orion had ordered for his 17th birthday. A clock father would have given him himself, if Sirius had returned home with him as Orion demanded - ask for, in his way, Sirius supposed now, with distance and teenage rebellion not as hot in his blood - that afternoon at the Potters.
Thank the Potters for their hospitality, Sirius. Come now, we're going home.
Sirius would never wear the clock. Fingers wrapped around the coolness of the watch, a brief embrace, before he made his way to hide it away, like everything else family of blood, to be found when nostalgia and longing got too strong. Yet, he was grateful for the gift, more than Regulus would understand.
"Thanks, mate! Cheers for another year!
Sirius."

top 5 Best Booty contenders?
Darlings, you've truly stirred the pot this time. Asking Rita Skeeter to comment on the best booty in our magical world? Well, as ever, your wish is my command. Rest assured, these are in no particular order and are based on extensive research and, dare I say, personal observations. Let's get this show on the road, shall we?
Regulus Black: How could we ignore this young lion with his quiet strength and dark, mysterious allure? It seems working at Borgin and Burke's does wonders for your form. This Slytherin is known for his intense dedication to his duties, and those hours of examining dark artifacts have truly sculpted a backside worthy of the Black name.
Rolanda Hooch: The Harpy heritage of this bold woman brings an entirely different meaning to "fantastic beasts." The lady spends her days soaring in the skies, and it seems gravity has done a fabulous job shaping a booty that would make any Quidditch player blush.
Benjamin "Benjy" Fenwick: While our dear Benjy breaks curses for a living, it appears he's cast a spell on his own posterior. Between the charm-work and those Quidditch practices during his Hogwarts years, this is one Curse Breaker who's got a charmed backside.
Mary MacDonald: Potioneering may seem an unlikely source of body sculpting, but mixing those heavy ingredients can do wonders for your figure. Mary's alluring mix of vulnerability and strength has a certain… potion-like effect that has certainly worked wonders on her behind.
James Potter: And finally, we have Mr. Potter himself. A host of a Quidditch show, former Chaser and the resident Marauder, his athletic activities have certainly paid off. As the saying goes, “he's got more curves than a Quaffle."
Let this serve as a lesson to all you readers. Life can be a grind, but if these magical individuals have shown us anything, it's that even the hardest of times can shape and sculpt us into beings of strength, resilience, and in this case, breathtaking aesthetics. Keep your heads high, and your squats lower, lovelies. And remember, a good booty is in the eye of the beholder. Until next time!

Who: @regulusblacx Where: Regulus' flat
Barty hadn't had chance to visit Reg's new flat yet, he had been busy with a lucrative modelling gig. They had been friends since Barty could remember, their families of course attending all the same parties. Barty had also learnt as he got older how useful it was having allies in the Black family. That wasn't necessarily the reason Barty had fully befriended Regulus but he certainly counted it as a convenient bonus.
In many ways he and Regulus were opposites. Where Reg was reserved, Barty was bold and brash. Barty was more than happy to be the centre of attention. Sometimes Barty helped blur the lines of their friendship too. Regulus was of course attractive, but there was a subtle charm to him which Barty found appealing. Naturally for Barty it wouldn't be more than an interesting friendship, he was not one to allow himself to be vulnerable enough to commit to a relationship. He was happier sharing himself with several people for more physical pleasures
Barty knocked confidently on Regulus' door, absentmindedly running a hand through his hair and messing up his curls. When Reg appeared at the door, Barty held up the bottle of firewhiskey that he'd bought. "Figured we could toast to the new flat" Barty wandered in, already looking around and internally comparing Regulus' flat with his own.

top 5 most eligible bachelor/bachelorettes?
To my discerning and ever-curious readers of The Daily Prophet,
An intriguing query indeed - who are the top 5 most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes prancing about our beloved wizarding world at present? A hearty task but fear not, my dears, I have risen to the occasion.
1. Benjamin “Benjy” Fenwick: Now, if you prefer a dash of bravery with a sprinkle of intellect, Benjy is your man. As a Curse Breaker for the Ministry of Magic, his job alone screams adventure! He's been known to whip up a mean curry, too. We've all heard tales of the elusive Fenwick family recipes, haven't we? Just remember, to conquer this brave heart, you'll need to be quick with your wit and even quicker with your spellwork!
2. Caitriona Burke: Our list would be dreadfully incomplete without a dollop of scandal, wouldn't it? The widow Burke has turned many a head after her departure from the Yaxley household. Despite her period of mourning, rumour has it that the doors of her new townhouse are not as closely guarded as her family's honor would suggest. But tread lightly; her family is as ancient as their values are, er, traditional.
3. Gilderoy Lockhart: Ah, the man of the hour, our very own rising star! With his recent book launch, Gilderoy is indeed an appealing catch. A word of caution though, he's as elusive as the nargles! With his good looks and abundant charm, it's no wonder he is on this list. Just remember, dear readers, you may have to fight off a hoard of fangirling Hogwarts students to win his heart.
4. Alice Lestrange: Now, here is a woman who defines breaking the mould. Lestrange by birth, but certainly not by association. As an estranged member of the infamous Lestrange family, Alice holds a certain allure. Her work as an Auror adds a touch of danger to her appeal, but let's not forget that rebellious streak. Interested suitors, be ready for a challenge!
5. Regulus Black: With his aristocratic charm and studious nature, he's captured the attention of many. Head of the Black family and a researcher of the Dark Arts - scandalously riveting, is it not? The right partner could perhaps thaw his icy exterior. But beware, you might have to go through his grumpy house-elf first!
In the end, my dears, remember this is all in good fun. I'm but a humble scribe, detailing the magical drama as it unfurls. The heart wants what the heart wants, as they say. For now, keep your wands at the ready and your eyes on the prize. As always, I’ll be here, quill in hand, to record every tantalising detail.
Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award winner, Rita Skeeter.

It’s been quiet on the last marauder. Any romantic entanglements? Possible partners you could see him with?
My Dearly Delectable Denizens of the Wizarding World,
Can you hear that, dears? That's not just a cooing owl or a rustling leaf. It's the intoxicating whispers of potential romance, weaving their scandalous tales amidst the robes of our favourite witches and wizards. Our magical cup of morning tea seems to be simmering with an infusion of curiosity and a dash of intrigue. This bewitching brew is spun around a tantalising character, our dear yet curiously overlooked Marauder, Remus Lupin. Now, my sweets, I can practically hear your gasps of disbelief. Overlooked, you exclaim? Unheard of! The charming lad, having just celebrated his 21st birthday, is not only a Metalcharmer but – and your dear Rita has an eye for these matters – quite a handsome spectacle!
Now, let's slide our quick-quill into this intriguing inkpot of potential love stories. Imagine, if you will, the shadowy figure of Regulus Black. This raven-haired researcher, perennially entwined with his scrolls and age-old tomes, radiates a dark allure that's hard to ignore. A Lupin and a Black? My dears, such a delicious concoction could make even the stone statues of Hogwarts giggle! Picture, if you will, a Metalcharmer's tempered steel and a Black's icy mystique dancing a tango. Despite Regulus' frosty sentiments towards James, Lupin's bosom friend, could their mutual love for the written word ignite a spark in the dark? Could this be a tale to rival even those found in our Magizoology section?
But, my darling readers, don't get too enchanted by one prospect. There's another name fluttering about like a Snitch in a Quidditch match – the resilient Potioneer, Mary MacDonald. A Gryffindor through and through, MacDonald's past is adorned with dark trials and tribulations, making her an intriguing match for Lupin. Could their shared past, painted in the same Gryffindor gold and red, be the thread that ties them together? MacDonald, with her ferocious dedication and unyielding resolve, would make a thrilling counterpoint to Lupin's measured calm. Could this be the love story that graces our crossword puzzle tomorrow, a living testament to love's enduring power amid life's cruel obstacles?
And oh, just when you think you've heard it all, enters the daring Rolanda Hooch! The erstwhile Holyhead Harpies Chaser, and our ever-dashing Quidditch instructor, is quite the comet in the sky! Could Lupin, our studious Marauder, weather this whirling storm of a woman? Better yet, does he have the desire to? Hooch, with her audacious spirit and fiery charm, might just be the firecracker Lupin needs. The thought of Lupin, a stranger to the Quidditch pitch till date, soaring high with Hooch is an image too tantalising to resist. Surely, such a story deserves to be splashed across our Quidditch pages!
Alas, my dearest readers, these are but tempting morsels on the great banquet table of gossip and speculation. But remember, my bewitching beetles, love often blossoms in the unlikeliest of places. Who are we to resist a tantalising tale or a charming conjecture? So, my darlings, as you sip your steaming morning tea, let your minds wander and your hearts flutter with these enticing possibilities, and be prepared for the unexpected sparks that may soon illuminate our magical corridors!
Forever Yours in Scandal and Sensation,
Rita

What are the top three chaotic pairings you could possibly think of to go on a date?
My Dearest Dabbler in Delectable Drama,
Your question arrived on my desk like a lightning bolt in a clear blue sky – daring, audacious, and oh-so-wonderfully thrilling! Such delightfully scandalous question you've presented, darling, enough to get even my quicksilver quill trembling with anticipation. The thought of the tumultuous encounters that could ensue is simply too delicious for words. Honey, you've given me a delightfully complicated puzzle to unravel, and I must say, I simply adore puzzles. Thus, with my busy mind buzzing like a hive of enchanted bees, I present to you my selection of the most intriguingly chaotic duos from our magical world.
1. Regulus Arcturus Black and Gilderoy Lockhart: Oh, just imagine the ensuing turmoil, dear! The enigmatic, tradition-bound Regulus and the ostentatious darling of the wizarding world, Lockhart. Would there be sparks, or perhaps an all-out inferno? Regulus, a symbol of old-world charm and quiet dignity, meets Gilderoy, the flamboyantly flashy storyteller extraordinaire. The tension that would rise from their starkly contrasting personalities – darling, I'm positively dizzy just thinking about it! And the drama that could stem from the interaction of Regulus's pure-blood pride with Gilderoy's fascination with the common witch and wizard! Now that would be a story worth its weight in Galleons, my dear!
2. Rolanda Hooch and Sirius Orion Black: Now, here's a pairing that's spicier than a plate of dragon chili nachos! Sirius, the prodigal son of the Black family, as wild and untamed as his namesake, and the straight-laced, eagle-eyed Quidditch mistress, Rolanda. A common passion for Quidditch might light their initial spark, but just imagine the sparks that could fly when Rolanda, with her strong principles, clashes with Sirius, the familial rebel! Add to this volatile mix the intriguing complexity of their magical heritage, and you have a deliciously chaotic cocktail that's simply too tantalising to resist!
3. Alice Lestrange and Peter Pettigrew: Finally, my pièce de résistance, darling! Imagine the beguiling contrast between the virtuous Alice Lestrange, a beacon of justice and righteousness, and the notoriously elusive Peter Pettigrew. The tension between Alice's unwavering commitment to fairness and Peter's murky past and questionable allegiances is enough to make anyone's heart flutter with anticipation. Will it be a path of redemption for our shifty Mr Pettigrew, or will his past come back to haunt him? Oh, darling, the suspense is simply too delicious to bear!
I hope my suggestions inspire captivating narratives and exhilarating twists in your upcoming social rendezvous, dear. Until then, keep your wit sharp, your imagination vibrant, and your life as bewitching as a page from one of my articles!
Yours in Scandal and Suspense,
Rita Skeeter

What about the other Black brother? I heard Regulus has entered the marriage market.
My dear Matrimonial Marvel,
Oh, what a scrumptious tip you've brought to my attention! The prospect of Regulus Black, the enigmatic and elusive younger brother of Sirius, entering the marriage market is nothing short of a tantalising bombshell!
To think that Regulus, a wizard who has hitherto seemed to shun the very idea of romantic entanglements, is now contemplating the sacred bonds of matrimony! One can't help but wonder how on earth this brooding bachelor will navigate the choppy waters of married life. Has Cupid's arrow finally pierced his guarded heart, or is this merely a strategic move to secure alliances and further the Black family's influence?
As for potential brides-to-be, the whispers are positively deafening! Could it be the elegant Emmeline Vance, a witch whose grace and beauty are matched only by her formidable magical prowess? Or perhaps the vivacious Celeste Travers, whose charm and wit are known to bewitch all those who cross her path? Let us not forget the likes of Arabella Fawley, the enchanting heiress to the Fawley fortune, or the mysterious Octavia Mulciber, a witch whose very name evokes an air of dark allure.
The possibilities are as endless as they are intriguing, and it is my solemn duty, dear reader, to keep my quill poised and my ear to the ground, ready to bring you the most scintillating updates on this captivating courtship. Will Regulus find his true love among the bevy of bewitching brides-to-be, or will this matrimonial match prove to be yet another twist in the never-ending saga of the Black family's secrets and scandals?
Thank you for your delightful tip, and please keep me apprised of any further developments in this bewitching tale. Remember, as always, Rita Skeeter is listening...
Yours in scandal,
Rita Skeeter

Despite Regulus’ quest for marriage he hasn’t been seen with any eligible ladies but a few dark haired gentlemen instead.
Dear Dark-haired Mystery Enthusiast,
Your intriguing missive has, like a well-cast Lumos, illuminated an intriguing facet of our very own Regulus Black's social life that was previously veiled in shadows. It seems our noble-blooded friend has decided to take a less-than-traditional route on his pursuit of marital bliss. In the spirit of stirring the cauldron, let's add a dash of scandalous speculation to the mix, shall we?
Could it be that our Regulus, in his pursuit for the perfect bride, has instead found himself amidst a coterie of dark-haired gentlemen? While the traditional pureblood matrimonial circles have yet to see Regulus in the company of a lady-friend, he does seem to be maintaining quite an engaging company, no? I say, why not! A stimulating conversation knows no gender, and who's to say one cannot find an exceptional friend amidst prospective partners?
The implication of your words, my dear anonymous informant, is quite deliciously scandalous. Has our elusive Regulus developed a preference for the company of wizards over witches? Or is he merely broadening his social circles, enriching his conversational palate before settling down? Ah, the intrigue of it all!
Then again, could it simply be a matter of kinship, a 'brothers in arms' scenario, perhaps? Sharing the unique pressures of upholding an illustrious family legacy can form formidable bonds, after all.
As for his taste in dark-haired gentlemen, it's worth noting that a similar aesthetic runs in the Black family itself, does it not? Is our young Regulus merely inclined towards what's familiar? Or is there a more tantalizing tale behind this pattern? The jury, dear readers, is still out.
We'll all be watching with bated breath to see who finally captures Regulus' heart, won't we? Whether it be a blushing bride or a brooding wizard, the unfolding of this romantic tale promises to be as captivating as a page from 'Witch Weekly'!
Until our next delectable serving of intrigue,
Rita, your faithful purveyor of magical gossip

The flush on the other's countenance did not go unnoticed by Severus. A rarity that the Halfblood got to see - even as he continued to see his old housemate more often now that he was being integrated into the Pureblood way of life. Snape knew that, at the end of the day, he would never be seen as 'one of them' and didn't expect to. It was one of the main reasons he had made him so useful towards 'the cause' in making himself invaluable in both his knowledge of the dark arts and potion-making. If it weren't for Lucius and his other friends so high up in that society, Severus would have distanced himself from that part entirely.
"Indeed," Severus nodded at the journal, stuffing it away in the lapel pocket of his robes. While it was 'nothing of particular interest' to others, it was rather instrumental to his work, "Recently toured Spain and a bit of the highlands. Much less downcast than here," he explained, knowing that they were in the same position on a few things. Submerged in high society and all the duties and expectations that came with it, as well as the side that went hand-in-hand of such a caste system they were being thrown into.
"Rather doubtful if it's garnering that reaction from you."
@regulusblacx
Regulus had shared a House with Severus in their school years, but it seemed that lately he was seeing the other man more often than ever. It wasn’t just in their Death Eater duties either. Much to Regulus’ bemusement, it appeared that the halfblood was being assimilated more and more into Pureblood culture. He supposed that was the only way to cling to survival in the War. Yet as much as Severus may try, Regulus knew what the elites said behind his back, amongst themselves. He’d never be one of them, as far as Regulus was aware of.
Regulus flushed as he was probably displaying more outward emotion than was suitable. He wasn’t one for outbursts or a hot temper; other members of his family were better known for that. “You’re a potioneer, if I recall. Research?” He asked lightly, raising a brow, trying to move the topic away from his mood. Regulus clenched his jaw and sank slightly lower into his seat. “Nothing of importance,” he drawled.

Barty acknowledged Reg's words with a nod, still distracted by looking around the flat. Barty couldn't help but be jealous of the generational wealth of the Black family. His family had long ago stopped putting enough effort in to preserving their bloodlines. Barty's flat had of course belonged to his family as well, but it was small and less grand than Regulus'. Barty hated that feeling of inferiority, not that Regulus would ever purposely make him feel that way - but Barty wanted these kind of heirlooms. The respect that came with just hearing the Black name. His family name was recognisable, but it didn't had the same value that Regulus' did. That was what he was fighting for. That infamy. He wanted that pure respect, that little bit of automatic intimidation. He carved it more than he could ever express. He could put up with the muggleborns if he really had to, that wasn't what had drawn him to the death eaters. It was the power, the kind of people he'd heard the rumours from. He knew if was where he needed to be if he wanted a better future.
"You know, sometimes I forgot how rich you and then-" he signalled around the flat, a teasing smirk on his face, he nudged his friend slightly. "Are you going to tell me where the glasses are or do I have to guess" Barty shouted back as he walked in to the kitchen, already opening a cupboard. "So do I get to attend a housewarming party soon or are you going to play shy on that?"
@regulusblacx
Barty and Regulus had been more than acquaintances for longer than he could remember. Their families moved in the same circles, the Blacks always keenly interested in holding close political ties. Oddly enough, Regulus didn’t mind Barty, in fact finding his company to be an interesting blip in the lull of his solitude. He didn’t mind Barty stealing all the attention in the room as it often meant it was taken from Regulus instead. Regulus preferred to not be in the spotlight, while Barty thrived off it.
There was also the fact that Barty knew one of Regulus’ closely held secrets. Regulus was a spy, he was working to destroy Horcruxes, and he still had contact with his disowned brother, yet sometimes that all paled in comparison to the secret of Regulus’ true preferences. Still, Regulus had never allowed himself to see Barty as more than a friend, even if an interesting one at that.
“Good evening, Barty,” he greeted formally with a nod, his manners as impeccable as ever. “A toast is certainly in due,” Regulus replied to the man, a small smile moving at his lips and moving aside for his guest to step in. He closed the door behind them as he watched Barty study the home. “It belonged to my Uncle Alphard some years ago, but it’s been in my family for centuries,” Regulus explained.
