What updates do the structural design companies need?
Regulations and codes: The government and local regulatory bodies update the rules and codes based on the latest technologies. The structural design consultants have to keep themselves updated.
Technologies: The consultants must be updated with the latest technologies. This step ensures that the consultants can use the technology whenever the project benefits.

Besides, she thought as she watched Wazzer drink, you only thought the world would be better if it was run by women if you didn't actually know many women. Or old women, at least. Take the whole thing about the dimity scarves. Women had to cover their hair on Fridays, but there was nothing about this in the Book, which was pretty dar--pretty damn rigorous about most things. It was done because it had always been done that way. And if you forgot, the old women got you. They could practically see through walls. [...]
Polly had forgotten her dimity scarf. She did wear it at home on Fridays, for no other reason than that it was easier than not doing so. She vowed that, if she ever got back, she'd never do it again.

My mom was watching Women Roland Garos the other day. I take a peek and Here's the convo we had:
Me: Wow, they still have to wear skirts to play in 2024?
My mom: well it's fine, they have shorts underneath.
Me: Idc about that. I care that they can’t wear pants in mf 2024. That men's shorts goes down to the fucking knee and are large. While women's skirt are tight and cover their ass and nothing else.
You would NEVER make a man wear a skirt like that, shorts underneath or not.
"If it’s humiliating for a man, it's humiliating for a woman.
You’re just used to seeing women humiliated."

If you want to be bothered. Maybe this for dick and Bruce???
i ALWAYS want to be bothered these are always the highlight of my day tbh you're a delight for letting me just yap <3
Dick. For the canon isn't real square I am Specifically talking about the Tom Taylor Nightwing run. Usually I ignore bad runs but given this one is ongoing (though about to end THANK GOD and get replaced by Dan Watters who i have high hopes for since i adored his Sword of Azrael (2022) run but i digress) so I counted it. Especially since it's so debated if that run is bad or not, for some reason. I'm a 90s Nightwing truther. I love Dick so dearly and tbh recently I've been more enamored with him the more I read his Discowing era, I didn't used to be as big of a Dick stan as I am these days.
Bruce. Honestly where do you even start with Bruce. I want to fist fight him and also patch him up. He got me into comics and superheroes as a whole but I roll my eyes whenever he shows up in a story. He's a bastard and usually not a good father but also complex and should be dissected under a magnifying glass. I love him dearly. He's also just the worst. I think that's why I love him. I'm always a fan of unabashedly Complicated Asshole Bruce who's generally not always the best person, particularly not to the Batfamily and that being the driving force of his relationships with them, especially in shipping.
And for bonus points, Tim. Because know above all else, I'm a Tim Drake kinnie /deg. He's been my number one for a decade and I've yet to uproot him from my brain. He's literally the Worst half the time and I love him for it. And the canon isn't real refers to Tim Drake: Robin because... that sure was a comic. And that's about all I can say about it. Pre-Flashpoint Tim I miss you so dearly. I think it's fun that I want to put him in a blender and drink the juice but also want Nothing Ever to happen to him.

As a queer servicemember who did serve during dadt that got out the year before it was repealed - FUCK DADT, it ruined lives and fuck the fact that it took so long for our military members to get their dishonorables changed and the fact that they left homosexuality on the new dd214s so former service members still had it follow them.
As someone who has never served myself and only has internet research and old Navy stories from my grandfather and cousin and one former coworker who was briefly in the army to go by, and every single one of them is cishet, I appreciate your input immensely. and, quieter, thank you for this, specifically, because this is exactly my point, I just don't have all the exacts to back it up like this. I've been doing my best to not rant about it and start things because it's about a fictional character it isn't that deep but also... considering how many people it affected in real life, yes it is.
I can't tell if you're yelling at me, specifically, or just using the anon function in my inbox to protect yourself from the fandom having different opinions (I get that, zero judgement whatsoever, I've been doing that a lot the last ~week just so I can have my opinion out there and avoid the backlash that comes with that and protect my sanity), but I'm going to put my own thoughts here, too, either way, because I feel like we're on the same page?
I know that using DADT seems like an easy out for speedrunning Tommy's timeline and making him younger than he would logically be to fit Lou's age (45 isn't old and 45 doesn't "look" all that different from 39 unless you're being ageist but whatever), but it's really not. There are so many complications that come with it - such as a dishonorable discharge.
Someone reblogged one of my posts earlier this week (the same person my vague post was about today, and I'll keep it vague I'm not here to call people out directly this is my blog and I'm going to put my opinion on it, no one should go harassing this person about any of it because it's fictional characters, they're allowed to have different opinions and headcanons about things), with a comment about how the LAFD (and PD? it's less relevant and I don't want to scroll back in their blog or my notifs for something minor like that) was hiring people regardless of sexuality in the 90s. Good for them! That doesn't change the dishonorable discharge tho!
Like... please correct me if I'm wrong, because again, I have no personal experience with any of this, just too much time on my hands and too many military blorbos, but when a dishonorable discharge shows up on someone's record, it doesn't necessarily say why it's there. It doesn't say if it's related to DADT or some other incident in the field or whatever it is. So yes, while the LAFD might have been hiring queer people far sooner than that, they still aren't going to look at a guy who has a (recent!) dishonorable discharge and say "yeah, we're going to put him through our training, which costs taxpayers x amount of money, and then hire him and pay him to have someone's life and death in his hands."
DADT and all the discharges that came from it completely ruined lives and made going on with any kind of career, especially something for the government even on the level of firefighting or police work, all but impossible. It's not an easy out to make Tommy the same age as Lou. It's actually completely nonsensical because he never would have been allowed to even get within 100ft of the fire academy, let alone be a senior member of a firehouse in 2009 when Hen joined the 1118.
There is a reason it's called a dishonorable discharge, and it would have completely ruined his life, no matter what the reason was for it.
(also, re: the game I play with Kit and Cass, the complaint this morning puts Tommy's age at 55 💛)

What’s your favorite Federal Reserve System regulation?
I’ll go first, mine is Regulation W - Transactions Between Member Banks and their Affiliates.
I know it seems like I might pick something in 12 CFR Chapter II, Subchapter B - Federal Open Market Committee, based on my current position. But Subchapter A - Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, is where my true passions lie, and it holds the most practical impacts to everyday banking.

Sad to see the end of reg F; feel like I finally locked into this team!
Squeezed into top 4 at locals tonight for the second time, and this squad got me into Masterball tier on ladder for the first time in Scarlet/Violet (don't judge me, i rarely get more than 30 ladder matches in a month cuz life gets in the way 😭)

Tales From the Grid: Battle Nexus Bozos
An arc on the Grid's channel where Timmy, Piper and a few of the Links (obviously including the Anchor version) are invited to participate in the Battle Nexus Tournament (from TMNT) taking place in the Fairly Oddparents Server (remember; Timmy's server is made up of the Nickelodeon multiverse instead of just the FOP universe thanks to the canon crossovers he's been part of).
And since this can't just be a simple tournament arc, the Syndicate sneak past the Battle Nexus's robust security with their firewall-proof portals to cause trouble, along with their newest allies; the Shredder and his Foot Clan, specifically one of the 2003 Shredders (leaning towards Cyber-Shredder because computer stuff, definitely not using the demon one because he doesn't play well with others, even moreso than most Shredders). I know that one wasn't a Nick show but Rise Shedder's bad at subtlety, worse than Demon Shredder at team-ups, and also very dead (plus he doesn't really have a Foot Clan to lead during the time where he's in any state to do so), and I'm not that fond of 2012 Shredder even though I liked the show.
That being said I'll probably include multiple versions of the Turtles if I decide to properly write this out. I'm already including multiple Links so why not right?

Few Villain Coded worldbuilding questions; Are there instances where a superhero or a group of superheroes is blamed for the rise of supervillains? Like how Batman is blamed making the criminals turn super by cleaning the streets of regular criminals so well? Also, are there places where superheroes are not welcome or having superpowers is deemed a sign of spiritual corruption or somesuch?
a very soft "yes" to all, but like... increasingly small scale for each, if that makes sense? like, one of the major Things in the villain coded world is superheroes operate with a Ton of legal & pr consultants behind 'em, so if there was at any point there was any kind of major public talk of superheroes being blamed for supervillain activity rising, there would be like. just a Flock of marketing and PR guys shutting that down as fast as possible. similarly, places where superheroes aren't welcome/superpowers themselves are viewed badly tend to be very small, localized types'a things without any actual authority behind it - ie. neighborhoods with a lot of villains congregated within it will be informally a no-heroes-allowed zone, but that's extremely not able to be enforced on a wider scale and there's nothing actually stopping heroes from just. going there. the closest thing to the latter is probably certain types of powers just coming off less appealing than others - ie. Minnie's mom, Betty, functionally has spider-powers but they're marketed as "acrobatic abilities" to avoid the eww gross scary reaction a lot of folks have to spiders, and one part of the reason Nemo struggles to get traction as a wannabe-superhero is her powers being functionally Dark Magics
