Innovation Nation
Everything about us here at the Inventor's Fair, and in the custom Magic community as a whole, is about creation, pushing the envelope, finding new and amazing ways to express our ideas. And you know, WOTC does the same thing every year with their Draft Innovation set. But... what if we could do better?
This week's contest: Design a card that represents a new type of Draft Innovation Set, OR design a card that shows a new take on one of the existing Draft Innovation sets.
That's... a bit vague, I know. What do I mean by "represents"? What's a Draft Innovation Set? Let's break it down.
Draft Innovation was a concept that began with Conspiracy, where each summer WOTC would release a unique product. Originally, these were centered around drafting/Sealed, hence the name. Most still are, though there has been some deviation. You can find the list of Draft Innovation sets here.
So what am I asking you to do? Come up with a new concept for a draft innovation set! Try to figure out what the angle, or gimmick of the set is. For example, Conspiracy was "draft matters" and "multiplayer" rolled into one. Battlebond, a few years later, was "Two-Headed Giant Draft". Then there were things like Jumpstart or Modern Horizons, whose gimmicks are pretty clear. I want you to come up with an idea for a Draft Innovation set, then design me a card that will sell me on that set.
Obviously, a single card won't be able to convey the entirety of a set, but it should be able to imply the general idea you had for it. Let's look at some examples!
Agent of Acquisitions turns the entire draft process on its head by allowing you to take an entire pack, showing off the ways that Conspiracy cements its identity as the Draft-Matters set.
Regna the Redeemer gives us a couple hints to 2HG, both that "Partner With" indicates that another player can search, and that her ability references the idea of a Team.
Prismatic Piper clearly shows that it's made for a commander set, and the flexibility of color identity is pretty good at suggesting that it was made to fix the problem of color identity in draft. Take the two together, and it's pretty obvious it comes from a Commander Draft set.
Jumpstart may not be as easy to represent in a single card, but the Thriving Lands do a decent job. They're so locked in on two-color, in a way that a typical draftable set might not appreciate, so it lets you know something else is going on. You might not be able to get "two unique 20-card packs shuffled together to make a deck" from this card alone, but it at least gets you thinking about what it could be representing.
Of course, as mentioned above, you can also
This is definitely a bit of a tricky contest, but I have faith in you all, and I can't wait to see what you do! One more note- I will NOT be reading any additional descriptions submitted alongside the card (except for art). I expect the card to speak for itself, so please don't send me five paragraphs about your idea for the set. If you want to share that with me after submissions, I would be thrilled to hear it then!
Ciao,

Regna, the Redeemer

i love how his partner Regna is subtitled "The Redeemer" and is also a literal angel that is literally holding back a literal demon in his card art, so on a meta level you would expect her to maybe make him less evil by not sacrificing souls in exchange for power.
but then on a gameplay level she guarantees him at least two souls (HUMAN souls, no less) to sacrifice in exchange for power every turn. idk man, Regna sounds more like an enabler than a redeemer

Got it.
My criteria: It had to have "the" in the middle to denote their title, and it had to be able to be pronounced as "DA da, da DAdada" (in other words, the same meter as "Mentos, the Freshmaker").
Here's the list:
Lucas, the Sharpshooter Bontu the Glorified** Breeches, the Blastmaker Breena, the Demagogue** Brinelin, the Moon Kraken Kenzo the Hardhearted Dargo, the Shipwrecker Doran, the Siege Tower Dromar, the Banisher Eriette, the Beguiler** Ertai, the Corrupted Evelyn, the Covetous Gisa, the Hellraiser Grismold, the Dreadsower Grolnok, the Omnivore** Immard, the Stormcleaver Jaxis, the Troublemaker* Jodah, the Unifier Judith, the Scourge Diva** Kaervek the Merciless Kaervek, the Punisher Kamber, the Plunderer Kellan, the Fae-Blooded Kenrith, the Returned King** Keskit, the Flesh Sculptor Kestia, the Cultivator* Kethis, the Hidden Hand** Kogla, the Titan Ape** Makari, the Lucky Grot** Kura, the Boundless Sky** Laurine, the Diversion Linden, the Steadfast Queen** Lorthos, the Tidemaker Lutri, the Spellchaser Magda, the Hoardmaster Mairsil, the Pretender Negan, the Cold-Blooded Marwyn, the Nurturer Najal, the Storm Runner Neheb, the Eternal** Nekusar, the Mindrazer* Obosh, the Preypiercer Ognis, the Dragon's Lash** Oros, the Avenger Parnesse, the Subtle Brush** Piru, the Volatile** Preston, the Vanisher Rakdos, the Defiler Rakdos, the Showstopper Regna, the Redeemer Ryusei, the Falling Star** Samwise the Stouthearted Saryth, the Viper's Fang** Sauron, the Lidless Eye** Sauron, the Necromancer* Sedris, the Traitor King** Sengir, the Dark Baron** Sheoldred, the Apocalypse* Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon* Slimefoot, the Stowaway Slogurk, the Overslime Sol'kanar the Swamp King* Surrak, the Hunt Caller Tana, the Bloodsower Tawnos, the Toymaker Teneb, the Harvester Thantis, the Warweaver Tinybones, the Pickpocket* Tormod, the Desecrator* Toxrill, the Corrosive** Tymaret, the Murder King Tyvar the Bellicose Uril, the Miststalker Volrath, the Shapestealer Vraska, the Silencer Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver Zedruu the Greathearted Zirda, the Dawnwaker Zo-Zu the Punisher
You've noticed the asterisks. * indicates that it doesn't actually fit the criteria, but it fits the vibe (Tinybones has three syllables, not two, but... fits the vibe!). ** indicates that it's the right number of syllables, but not the right metre (the emphasis is on RO for the word Corrosive, so Toxrill, the Corrosive just doesn't work).
Thank you for indulging me in investigating this very silly thing.
you know how a lot of phrases fit the cadence of "teenage mutant ninja turtles"?
i'm doing the same thing
but by "phrases" i mean legendary creatures
and by "teenage mutant ninja turtles" i mean "mentos, the freshmaker"
the most recent one i've added to the list is "kamber, the plunderer"
i will notify you when i'm done
#magic the gathering#mtg#memetg#mentos the freshmaker#lorthos the tidemaker#THEY'RE THE SAME#feel free to add ones i may have missed/disregarded

Krav and Regna are... a thing???
Is this, erm, literal, or is that just the way he talks? I didn’t think the word “partner” necessarily means... I mean, what would it say about... for instance that fella with the dragon...
But *shrugs* so what, basic Aziraphale x Crawley thing, nothing unusual here...

LOVEBIRDS
A Guide to Krav and Regna EDH
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/i-wont-say-im-in-love/
Angel and Demon – star crossed lovers – impossible and forbidden – this tale is as old as time. And it’s cute as hell.
Alright, let’s break this down. What are we trying to do? Gain life and spam tokens to abuse the Lovebird’s abilities. We get a bit of a reanimation sub-theme so we can sac value engines then bring them back for bonus value.
FOR LOVE, IT’S A SACRIFICE I’M WILLING TO MAKE
Since he costs 1 less than his partner, Krav is usually going to hit the table first. Now, for Krav to reach his full potential we need a swarm of disposable creatures. Angel of Invention, Captain of the Watch, Cloudgoat Ranger, Geist-Honored Monk, Grave Titan, Knight-Captain of Eos, Marionette Master, Regal Caracal, and Skeletal Vampire all do an excellent job of this by bringing friends with them when they ETB. Crested Sunmare and Elenda the Dusk Rose also bring friends, albeit they take a bit more work than just entering the battlefield. Grave Titan, Skeletal Vampire, Elspeth Sun’s Champion, Legion’s Landing, and Ethereal Absolution are all also fantastic for this since they can continue spitting out tokens the more time they’re given. Slap an Anointed Procession into the mix and suddenly all your numbers are doubled! Even if Krav isn’t on the table we can make use of our dudes with Ashnod’s Altar. And of course, since we’re constantly throwing all our dudes overboard it only makes sense to reuse their bits with a Black Market.
ARMED AND ARMORED WITH THE SPIRIT OF LOVE
Swarms of 1/1s can certainly end a game, but swarms of 2/2s and 3/3s do it much faster. Angel of Invention, Archangel of Thune, Elesh Norn, Ravos Soultender, Ethereal Absolution, and Marshal’s Anthem all beef up your dorks into a force to be reckoned with. Teysa Karlov makes them all that much more impactful by giving them vigilance & lifelink. Some games Regna herself might even bless your team with a host of +1/+1 counters through Regna’s Sanction!
NOT EVEN DEATH CAN STOP OUR LOVE
What’s better than sacrificing a creature for value? Bringing it back and doing it again! Demon of Dark Schemes, Ravos Soultender, Sheoldred, Nim Deathmantle, Animate Dead, Dance of the Dead, Debtors’ Knell, Marshal’s Anthem, Palace Siege, Phyrexian Reclamation, Ever After, Reanimate, Thrilling Encore, and Victimize all let you raise the dead to fight again for the World’s Cutest Couple! A display of Krav and Regna’s undying love in Together Forever is strong enough to bring back two creatures as well! As a bonus, since so many of your creatures bring friends with them (nine, to be exact), a single reanimation spell often turns into THREE bodies! Oh, the value! And of course, we have Entomb and Buried Alive to throw high-profile targets in the bin for reanimation.
WARRIORS OF LIFE AND LOVE
Our lovely Regna has a bag full of countless fully grown, fully trained 1/1 warrior tokens. How? Why? Nobody knows. Here’s the thing: she lets them out of the bag 2 at a time, once every end step, assuming you gained life that turn. SO, how do we capitalize on this? Tons of tiny life gain triggers to make sure we’re gaining at least one per turn to satisfy Regna’s quota. Now I’m not going to list everything in the deck that gains you at least one life because honestly, that’s most of the deck. What I *will* list is things that gain you life on your opponents’ turns – something a little harder to accomplish but very necessary to capitalize on Regna’s ability. First and foremost is Krav. Sac a token EOT, make 2 more. Repeat. Assuming you have at least 1 black mana to spare for every opponent, you get +1 token, gain a life, draw a card, and put a counter on Krav EVERY END STEP. In a multiplayer game that gets out of hand fast. Auriok Champion, Blood Artist, Kambal Consul of Allocation, Soul Warden, Soul’s Attendant, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Authority of the Consuls all do EXCELLENT jobs of netting you at least one life per each player’s turn. Pristine Talisman is also a handy toy for this, though it only does it once per turn cycle.
LABORS OF LOVE (AND LIFE)
Regna may not always be on the table, so we pack some extra life gain payoffs. Archangel of Thune, Aetherflux Reservoir, and Sanguine Bond can all go nuclear. I’ve elected not to run the Sanguine Bond & Exquisite Blood combo because I tried not to be an asshole while building this.
THE LOVINATOR 9000
Everyone’s had a moment where they build something and accidentally include an orbital ion cannon, right? Ok maybe not, but I did. Ashnod’s Altar is great for when you want to turn some of your infinite army into extra mana. Nim Deathmantle is great for bringing guys back when you have extra mana to spend on it. Now, when you put them together you get dangerously close to going infinite. All it needs is one creature that produces three bodies… of which we run nine. Oops.
Here’s how it works: First, you sacrifice a token to Ashnod’s Altar. Now you have 2 mana. Then, you sacrifice a creature that creates 2 or more tokens when it ETBs (let’s say Grave Titan) to Ashnod’s Altar. Now we have 4 mana, and Nim Deathmantle’s ability triggers – we pay the 4 mana we just got and return Grave Titan to the battlefield. It ETBs and creates 2 tokens. We can do this forever, each time gaining one token. Now that we have an infinite army, we can wait a turn cycle and attack to kill everyone. Or we can activate Krav and sac a billion tokens for each opponent, causing them to lose from an empty library. Oops.

21, 65 💕
21- explain the name of your blog
It's a magic card a demon who's in love with an angel. And it's regna the redeemer and krav the unredeemed. They have partner which means you can play them both together and they synergize but it's horribly dysfunctional and I love it.
There's also this really cute art of them together:
And the card for that let's him be saved from death, but not her. The flavor is just so good and I love it and them
65. favorite term of endearment
I don't really have terms of endearment that I love. I like sweetheart, beloved, and beloved but I don't think I could take it seriously if someone said them to me in real life

Tournament of Champions qualifying round
Hey! After a hiatus, we are BACK with a new project.
After including Commander Legends, there are 1,076 Legendary Creatures in Magic (including silver border and so on). Over the next six months, the Magic community is invited to vote for their favourites in a knockout tournament until only ONE remains!

A plenary indulgence is granted to all those who devoutly recite, either in Latin or the vernacular, the Te Deum on the last day of the year.
TE DEUM laudamus: te Dominum confitemur.
Te aeternum Patrem omnis terra veneratur.
Tibi omnes Angeli; tibi Caeli et universae Potestates;
Tibi Cherubim et Seraphim incessabili voce proclamant:
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus, Dominus Deus Sabaoth.
Patrem immensae maiestatis:
Venerandum tuum verum et unicum Filium;
Sanctum quoque Paraclitum Spiritum.
Tu Rex gloriae, Christe.
Tu Patris sempiternus es Filius.
Tu ad liberandum suscepturus hominem, non horruisti Virginis uterum.
Tu, devicto mortis aculeo, aperuisti credentibus regna caelorum.
Tu ad dexteram Dei sedes, in gloria Patris.
Iudex crederis esse venturus.
Te ergo quaesumus, tuis famulis subveni: quos pretioso sanguine redemisti.
Aeterna fac cum sanctis tuis in gloria numerari.
V. Salvum fac populum tuum, Domine, et benedic hereditati tuae.
R. Et rege eos, et extolle illos usque in aeternum.
V. Per singulos dies benedicimus te.
R. Et laudamus nomen tuum in saeculum, et in saeculum saeculi.
V. Dignare, Domine, die isto sine peccato nos custodire.
R. Miserere nostri, Domine, miserere nostri.
V. Fiat misericordia tua, Domine, super nos, quemadmodum speravimus in te.
R. In te, Domine, speravi: non confundar in aeternum.
O GOD, we praise Thee: we acknowledge Thee to be the Lord.
Everlasting Father, all the earth doth worship Thee.
To Thee all the Angels, the Heavens and all the Powers,
all the Cherubim and Seraphim, unceasingly proclaim:
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts!
Heaven and earth are full of the Majesty of Thy glory.
The glorious choir of the Apostles,
the wonderful company of Prophets,
the white-robed army of Martyrs, praise Thee.
Holy Church throughout the world doth acknowledge Thee:
the Father of infinite Majesty;
Thy adorable, true and only Son;
and the Holy Spirit, the Comforter.
O Christ, Thou art the King of glory!
Thou art the everlasting Son of the Father.
Thou, having taken it upon Thyself to deliver man, didst not disdain the Virgin's womb.
Thou overcame the sting of death and hast opened to believers the Kingdom of Heaven.
Thou sitest at the right hand of God, in the glory of the Father.
We believe that Thou shalt come to be our Judge.
We beseech Thee, therefore, to help Thy servants whom Thou hast redeemed with Thy Precious Blood.
Make them to be numbered with Thy Saints in everlasting glory.
V. Save Thy people, O Lord, and bless Thine inheritance!
R. Govern them, and raise them up forever.
V. Every day we thank Thee.
R. And we praise Thy Name forever, yea, forever and ever.
V. O Lord, deign to keep us from sin this day.
R. Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us.
V. Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, for we have hoped in Thee.
R. O Lord, in Thee I have hoped; let me never be put to shame.
