My project "Regenaissance" consisted of 9 pieces that, when stacked 3 x 3, measured 12' x 12' overall. Within the variable system I constructed, it had 95,126,814,720 unique ways you could display it, with physical connection points from each side of each piece to each side of every other piece.

In 2013, I created a 9 piece project measuring 12' x 12' overall based on fractals, the Golden Ratio, and a Rubik's Cube. An abstract composite of the words "Renaissance" (meaning "rebirth") and "Genesis" (meaning "in the beginning"), I called it "Regenaissance."  Each side of each painting connects to each side of each other painting, resulting in 95,126,814,720 possible orientations. This is piece one from this mega project, "Regenaissance (Polyversikube1)."

This is 1 of only 2 pieces I still have from my mega project "Regenaissance." Based on fractals, the Golden Ratio, and a Rubik's Cube, "Regenaissance," when fully assembled, stood at 12ft x 12ft, and had 95,126,814,720 possible permutations. This is piece number 4 from the set, and the last painting my friend, Deanne Hastings, saw me working on in my studio before her disappearance.
This mega project had a total of 9 pieces. Only 2 originals are still available, and there are 7 pieces available on my store as canvas prints 😘

This is one of only two pieces I have left from my mega project, "Regenaissance." Each piece from this collection is 48in x 48in, and there are nine pieces in total that can puzzle together in a 3 x 3 format. Every side of every piece connects to every side of every other piece, resulting in 95,126,814,720 permutations. You can claim one of the last two pieces 😘

I've done a few complex projects in my day, but this one might take the cake. “Regenaissance (Polyversikube)” is a nine canvas polyptych conceptually inspired by the principle elements of fractals, the Golden Ratio, and a Rubik’s Cube. The name “Regenaissance” is an abstract composite derived from the words Renaissance (meaning “rebirth”) and Genesis (meaning “the beginning”). Presented in a 3 x 3 structural format, each of the nine components can be moved, rotated, and rearranged so that any side of any element can connect to any side of any of the other eight pieces. The result of the calculated configurations is a broad and almost limitless spectrum of orientations and variations with which to play... 95,126,814,720 to be exact.

This is the 5th puzzle piece of "Regenaissance," my craziest creation over the course of my career thus far.
Check out ready-to-hang canvas prints of this piece at CariniArts.com and don't forget to check out the other pieces, as well as some of the behind the scenes videos of this piece. If you enjoy what I do, please share and help keep the dream alive.

If memory serves me correctly, this was my first “Beautiful Accidents” piece and it stems from my “Regenaissance” project dating back to around 2013. After meticulously working on a neurotically complex project exploring fractals, the Golden Ratio, and a Rubik’s Cube for 8-12 hours a day for nearly a year (it legitimately has 95,126,814,720 possible orientations), I couldn’t help but appreciate the simple and raw beauty of the palettes that shaped each piece of the puzzle. They were no less...just the same energy in a different form. Yesterday I sold 3 of the remaining 5 pieces from Regenaissance. Orange, lime, and the burnt red puzzle pieces are now claimed. Red and purple are the last available pieces and I would love to move them as a set.

Regenaissance was a site specific creation for Alexander Salazar-Fineart.
