And the narratives that get shared the most tell a lot about what our values are. But if you go to /r/transitiontimelines or a similar place, and sort by controversial or look at what has the least likes, its people who made timelines when they still don't 'pass' yet. Even if they're happy as can be, that's not what people are looking for.

I think it says a lot about what people expect from trans women, that they only want to see us be beautiful. In some cases, that they want to believe they can be beautiful. So there is no value in trans life if you're not beautiful.

exactly!!! the entire "mysterious pretty long haired boy who is gentle but can still fight for you" is lifted directly from shojo anime like ajdkajdg personally, i think he was inspired by hotohori from fushigi yuugi !! (at least in terms of visuals,, ajhgl) (it's extra funny to me cause there's an entire joke about hotohori being so beautiful that everyone thinks he's a woman aldjhg) (also helia's initial design being red instead like... bro.....)

anyway this rumor is so dumb too like it's been around for Years (i remember being ten looking at forum posts about this) but no one has ever found proof or even implications. no one from rainbow has ever confirmed this. years ago, someone probably said something along the lines of "helia is so feminine i wonder if he was meant to be a girl at first" and everyone else just fucking ran with it.

i know at one point the popular rumor was that rainbow wanted to introduce two new winx members (aka aisha and helia) but decided that would be too much and just went with aisha instead and made helia a boy. which like. cmon aldhg

anyway i'm starting a new rumor: tecna was actually supposed to be a boy specialist but they didn't want two nerds in the group so they made him a girl and put her in the winx instead. you can still see clear masculine elements in her design like her short hair, brutish personality, and interest in technology. things we all know women would never have. follow for more fun winx club facts!!!!

what i love about aziraphale and crowley presenting as female is that they don't switch vessels to do it, there aren't other cis actresses on the side lines for the feminine presentations of these characters. when crowley presents as feminine he doesn't change his face, it's still crowley and it's still aziraphale. i just think it's nice to see gender fluidity represented in a way that doesn't require the person to become cis passing as the gender they present as in the moment

Recommendation of the day!!! Goodbye, My Rose Garden by Dr. Pepperco! It is a very emotional story about the romance between two women in the 1900's England. Very beautiful illustrations and engaging story. I cried like a baby, I was so moved by it ... So moved I must recommend it. You should totally read it if you're interested in seeing the struggles of being a lesbian woman back in an age where it was seen as a crime and a shame.

Genuine question, not meant as rhetorical or anything. Ik dismantling the gender binary is important and all, and I'm all for it as well as getting rid of gender roles. And I know that like, even if the gender binary isn't a thing, medical transition will exist regardless (or at least I hope so, bc I would not have survived this long without it even if my gender identity wasn't a problem). But like... if my identity as a man is important to me, how am I supposed to reconcile that? I know I shouldn't be fixated on any identity period and that I should probably just accept that regardless of gender, I am Me, but being a man has kinda been my shield against people just deciding I'm a woman and being done with it. Like, despite all of my feminine traits and interests, if I'm a man then I'm a man and they can't argue with that. And I guess I'm worried that if I don't have that anymore, I'll have nothing preventing people from just deciding I'm a woman. And maybe that is my problem-- maybe I should not be so opposed to the idea of being a woman but I can't help that I hate it when that's what every transphobic person has tried to shove down my throat all my life. So if anyone knows how to like... stop worrying about it, I would appreciate it bc I genuinely don't know how I'd be able to survive in the society we're supposed to want.

god i wish more cis people could embrace gender in a nuanced way for themselves. like no, the options are not Boy or Girl. you can be a woman and prefer cologne to perfume, have short hair, hate dresses or whatever. and you can be a guy and have long hair and whatever else i just said. i’m holding your hand. we’re all playing legos with words and identities and it means nothing if you don’t give it meaning.

there are so many ways to be who you are and it will be a beautiful, conflicting, and nuanced collage.
