I had thought of the fact that the Cold War was going on, and how that would affect Seth, but I’m honestly not completely sure of the details. I can only imagine it was. Not Easy

going out of my mind thinking about what it would’ve been like if supernatural had actually brought lily sunder back for revenge after jack died/was sent to the empty. cas says he can’t imagine the pain she feels from losing a child but in like two seasons he Will understand!!! so if she’d come back after not really being able to forgive cas for participating in the angel raid that killed her daughter but the castiel she comes back for is this angry grieving shell because he does know what it’s like to lose his child now???? like they literally had the potential for the most devastating episode of television ever and just fumbled it so hard. the dilemma of being like damn i can’t kill him because i might not forgive him but i see my own pain reflected in him so clearly that killing him would be like killing myself. the power that could come from empathizing with each other, the exchange making her more angelic and him more human…. oh my god

Something that stood out to me in my aftg reread was how unhinged the upperclassmen actually are.

Matt fucking Boyd and his willingness to absolutely go at anyone, anywhere, any time. There's a scene where Kevin tells him to foul another player on the opposing team and Neil specifically points out the unrepentant grin he has on his face as he waltzes off court after it happens. He also is described as the best player on the foxes line up multiple times by Neil and his play style is aggressive, he uses his height and build to his advantage and he doesn't hold back.

Allison and Andrew have the exact same style of serving cunt, in that if you don't interest them they will not even acknowledge your existence. A player from another team attempted to score on the goal and both Allison and Andrew stood still and watched them miss with such bitchy indifference it probably gave that player ptsd. They also both have a habit of cutting through bullshit and demanding truth ESPECIALLY regarding topics other people would shy away from. Badass blonde bombshells.

Dan Wilds is just as rabid about Exy as Kevin and her every first thought goes to the game first just like Kevin. She's just better at making her second thought go to something else. She literally knew the second Seth was out of the picture that there was an opportunity there and she didn't even really hesitate to talk to Matt about it. She looked at Neil and whatever fucked up little thing he had going on with Andrew (as it would have looked to an outsider, let's remember that they all knew Andrew took him to Columbia and drugged him) and was like, how can we use this to make the team stronger. Like Nicky used Neil to manipulate Andrew but Dan did it better and with much more calculation.

Renee I don't even really need to talk about because Neil was always wary of her but there is one scene where Neil let's slip about his father's penchant for knives and Renee's reaction and understanding gave me chills. Renee uses that part of her to protect and that's really great because she would be terrifying otherwise.

summary:

✦⋆ //; Seth and Yuuta actually have a good relationship, Yuuta finds Seth as a really good fatherly figure and Seth (for some reason) enjoys a lot acting like a caring parent. They're genuinely close. Yotsuya and Dr. Kurosaki met at a bar. Both of them like drinking a lot, Yotsuya was very drunk one time and Kurosaki helped him go back home. Yotsuya and Seth don't get along for... different reasons. But specially because Yotsuya can't stand Seth's deceiving nature. Ayato's connection to the both of them is rather relevant to the plot so I'm not going to say anything :]

Haunted House

Wishes were rotted in discontent and stimulated by the vaguest of the human heart. It is an expression of greed sprung to the winds with no direction for anything to hear. It was why prayer was reserved only for the angels.

Adam had warned her as such, with gentle eyes and a hidden plea that guilt had wallowed her to answer. She could still taste the apple on her lips, the sweetness that lingered as if to taunt her tainted soul. Her penance came in baring two sons in a frenzy of agony and blood. Pain had still been a fairly new concept to Eve, but birthing had been beyond anything of her comprehension. Hours of unrelenting agony and pleading prayers fall only on the indifferent ears of heaven. Leaving only Adam to attend to her. Like the garden, Adam would be her only mercy, but it wasn’t enough. Every repeated surge of agony conceived something. A twisted feeling that only pain could override as she looked to something like hate towards Adam. Why her?

Guilt came quickly the first time. Slower the second. But when heaven called for more, the urging hatched into a fluttering of rambling rages. Why not him?

Eve allowed her fears and greed to slip passed her trembling lips, if anything, to help expel her thoughts. For Abel, for Cain and for Adam; never suffer her weakness again. She vomited the words trembling at their intensity. “I wish——“

If Adam had been more cruel or overbearing after Eden then Eve liked to believe that she wouldn’t suffer so many conflicted emotions in his regard. She was not pure in body nor soul like he appeared to be. Having only seen glimpses of something darker when he had discovered the three of them together.

The same look came only in the rare opportunities in which she’s caught him hunting. The familiar darkened expression as he trailed his once beloved beasts of the world to their bloody end. Flaying their hides and bones till nothing remained expect the evidence of gore on his body and spear. Beyond it, Adam never expressed dislike nor lingering resentments. It left Eve swirling in her own alienated complicities and the sweet taint of apple on her tongue that almost prayed for his anger. She hated it. Eve hated it because she knew Adam didn’t love her enough to hate. Nothing like his hatred for ‘them’. It was so obvious that it never failed to seize her with pain. He loved their children but wards her, it felt more like warm affections stemming from shared suffering. A guilted obligation. Who knows if things could have evolved later down the line. If only she had prayed instead.

It’s started the scratches along Adam’s back.

By the time Seth had been born, Adam had expended their cave dwelling into a larger structure of stone, clay and wood. Something that had vexed him so hardly since their first day in the wastes, but now abruptly sprang so nimbly from him in spades. A garden, methods for storage, he worked tirelessly till he returned cut and bruised. The relief had been so great that Eve had hardly the time to bat an eye and he was still expanding. She never thought to ask how he suddenly knew so much. Nor how trees could leave such marks across his back. The earth that had once been so stubborn suddenly spilled with ease under Adam’s precision and the excitement of food and something to do, quilled the boys into trailing after their father and mimic him in all ways. It left her free to relax in peace with the baby. And that was when she began to feel the chill. A familiar feeling like before she met ‘them’.

When she brought this to Adam’s attention he simply smiled with a glint in his gaze that didn’t quite meet hers. “We’re not in an open cave anymore. It’s understandable that you might feel uneasy with all these walls”. His finger tapped around the stone in emphasis to the word ‘walls’. Eve cradled Seth with heavy unease. From across the fire, their boys twirled and dance to the tune of their humming. It sounded familiar and only served to arose her unease. Within the walls, their innocent song seemed to echo like a tune trapped and swirling like the raising smoke from the fire.

Seth kept her from covering her ears to what felt like muffled laughter.

It was only Adam’s ears did the angels whispers to. Each call for another child always be conveyed through him with Adam’s guilt ridden gaze being her first warning of dread.

The wish still lingered on her mind much like the apple and it was this amalgamation of regret that Eve was willing to shallow to continue her duty. But the news didn’t come even as Seth waned off her breast. The sudden lapse of freedom was so daunting that when Adam approached her with a smile and offer, Eve didn’t think twice before accepting,

“Would you like to learn to hunt?”.

It was the day that Eve noticed a distinctive swell of Adam’s belly that she noticed ‘it’ for the first time. Like a shroud hovering over across in the shadow of Adam’s frame. Just barely out of sight as Adam absently rubbed over his stomach in a recognizable gesture. A second dark hand rising to cover his.

Eve went hunting, feeling even her children looking on more knowingly as she kissed them goodbye. Adam didn’t watch her go.

That night when Adam excitedly delivered the news, Eve’s side of the bedding had been completely desecrated. “I’m pregnant!” had been echoed by a the hissing of snakes that spilled from her bedding. with a spill of snakes And the most Adam could convey was sparkle of genuine laughter all while the children danced to new song along the even evening fire.

“I wish! I wish! I WISH!!”

the way the foxes treat kevin when he grieves his dead brother (and in regards to riko and the nest in general) is pretty gross imo. but now that i’ve read the bonus chapter w him and wymack, it’s pretty clear that no one really understands the full extent of their messed tf up relationship. so i’ll give them that but they do know that kevin and riko were really close so idk why they gonna act all surprised when kevin loses his mind over it

anyway the point of this post was to critique their behaviour but also sorta kinda say i get it. i think ppl forget just how rude and mean kevin actually is to them so they really have no reason to be nice to him ever about anything (which is valid i’m sorry) it’s kinda hard to sympathise with someone who treats you like rubbish…

but also seth was horrible too, and they were pretty sad for allison after he died, and allison’s not the nicest person either, so it’s not about the person who’s grieving or the person they’re grieving is it? their problem is obviously personal to kevin then. why is that?
