so this blog turned 5 years old today
for sappy rant 👇👇👇
i cant believe its been 5 years since i first started as bangtan-chub and now bulletproofscales. if i had known then what this blog would turn into i wouldnt have been able to believe it. this blog has seen so much of me, i literally started at 15 and im turning 21 next month.
i love this blog so much, i love that i started without any writing experience and that its something i actively and enthusiastically have worked on so consistently. this really feels like _my_ thing. not because im particularly good at it, but because ive just really put my all into it. i fell inlove with writing, and the fact that theres a group of people AT ALL who are willing to tune in and read what i post is still insane to me.
ive never been the most open about my personal life in here, but this place has always stood as a place of joy for me. when im feeling my lowest i can always turn to this blog thats consumed me for 5 years now that i worked entirely on my own on, and feel pride that i was able to make this, and write all these fics (as shitty as the first ones that i refurse to re read probably are). this is something i icked up myself and stuck with out of pure self indulgence and enjoyment. writing brings me so much joy and i really dont plan on stopping any time soon. any member of this community, lurker, writer, fanartist, roleplayer that stepped foot in here has a a fond spot in my memory.
so really thank you for iving me this space and this attention to what i do. it motivates me so much, and i wanna keep on putting out works for all of you! happy blog birthday to me!!
#also i FINALLY#finished a chapter#so you can expect that later today yay#got weirdly nostalgic and happy#i love it here thank yall

”Baccho’s Flame” - a poem for Dionysus.
O the sweet taste of wine inebriates my senses My body, Great Bacchos, is yours tonight I chose to surrender my very limbs to you So you may tear me and remake me For times enough I blocked thy grasp Onto my soul virgin of contact Now life urges myself to pray For your wine-dark soul-filed release I shall not refurse thy flames That incinerate me from within And I shall burst in light and Ignite on love and laughter again

Finished Evensongs Heir yesterday, or more like today in the middle of the night (guess who has a new favourite book! The worldbuilding is fascinating, birds are nice and it also has many great funny lines and plottwists where I had to put the book down and it nearly made me cry), and off course I tried to make an OC for it...
Only to realize that I already have one: my Call of Cthulhu Opera Singer Alistair Fox, who I unknowingly gave clothes in the colours, black silver/gray and blue, who would make both a great and a challenging Lark!
He can sing, he knows much about medicine and he is pretty. And he refurses to wear his hair short and is vain, also would totally try and learn some skills with weapons, stating that he isn’t training with a blade after all, “Thats a wodden sword! Does it look like a blade to you?! Do you think the Lark of valnon would be so stupid?!”, so he isn’t breaking his vows.
Under the cut I tried to draw him in the temple clothes, which reminded me that I really need to practice more but at least I like his jewelry. He would totally wear more blue to bring out his eyes and probably not hesitate practicing medicine himself. His Preybird name would be Bluejay.

So I've thought about it for one night, and I want to add something. These are such good points, especially the protagonist-centred morality.
So two thoughs about this:
(1) I think the mcu feels like such a hackjob because they genuinely don't understand their source material. I think they genuinely think Tony Stark is the objectively best character and all the others are foils against which Iron Man can display his wit/banter/realisations. (I'm talking about russo-era-mcu, with endgame as nadir, not really counting the guardians movies, which i find ok) And so they really think of Steve as a bit of a chad, a golden retriever kind of guy, heart in the right place but sometimes does get it etc. - when the whole point of Steve's character is that he's principled. And sure, Evans plays him like a sweetheart, but by no means like only a sweetheart, which is one of the reasons TWS is by far the best movie, because it allows us to see the facets of the character: Steve can be a sassy little shit AND a good friend, he can be very astute and principled AND genuinely kind to Nat, he can see that in order to stop the helicarriers he might have to fight Bucky first AND STILL refuse to kill him. THAT is Steve's character in a nutshell: He refuses to be forced into a binary decisions by the system, refurses to pick "the lesser evil". But for some reason, the decicing people at marvel don't like this, or maybe think it makes him too soft, too gay (god for fucking bid), too good? (I really think they believe he can only be good in the sense that he's naive, that he doesn't get how the world works, because otherwise, what's stopping the rest? There always needs to be a veneer of "Things aren't that simple, son, we know you mean well, but the world doesn't work like that.").
Which brings me to Bucky. I think we've all said at some point that it's very obvious that the deciders at marvel don't like Bucky as a character and I think that is driving a lot of what anon very rightly pointed out: I think it not just makes them bad people (for doing bad stuff and for not calling others out), it makes them inconsistent. The writers don't really want us to see Bucky as a victim of horrendous, horrendous violence and abuse. The comparison with Hawkguy is spot-on, really, in that not only no one bats an eye to him immediately rejoining the team, but there's also time in the narrative (in Age of Ultron maybe?) for him to talk about what a horrible experience it was for him. And that is NOTHING to what was done to Bucky. But for some reason, when he is allowed to talk about it, we talk about guilt?? What? And I think from this disconnect stem a lot of the inconsistencies that are especially jarring in Steve: if he called out Sam for being rude to Bucky, if he called out Tony for trying to KILL Bucky, if he called out Peggy for hiring the VERY SAME GUY THAT TORTURED BUCKY, etc... then a) ewww, does that mean Steve is gay? Aren't guys gay who care for their friend's feelings?? and b) the mcu would have to reckon with what was done to Bucky, and they don't want to.
(2) I think the protagonist-centred morality is very useful to understand this, because it allows them to completely disreagrd the powers that structure their (our) world. There is a fanfiction that begins something like "After waking up, Steve takes one look at what the US military has done in the last 70 years and nopes right out." and it's about him becoming a paramedic and then working to get humanitarian aid into an active war zone in Syria. And I always thought that this is exactly what Steve Rogers would do after waking up. (And not even because I think the US army was in any way cooler during the 1940s, but because now, information is so much more readily available. You can find out what they do, and Steve would.) Now, I get the impulse of wanting him in the tower with all the others and working together, found family etc (except that they are not, because they don't really trust each other, and aren't really kind to each other, but, again, that might be gay, right?). And I get that marvel cannot take Steve's chacter to its logical conclusion, in that he would be a militant anti-captalist. But there are nuances to be had between having Steve work for Shield and mostly keep his head down (in CW it always sat wrong with me that he didn't argue more forcefully against the Accords; he says, "it's not right for me, i know how these things go", when he should have said, "it's not right, period, i know how these things go, none of us should sign those.") ... and Steve correctly identifying imperialism, as it is upheld by the US, as the root of all the problems and dismantling it. Sony's Spiderverse is very good at that. It can't be that difficult. A lot of fanfictions are very good at that. (But then, they take their source material seriously.) But no, the point of the mcu is to have increasingly absurd fight sequences (nothing will ever beat Steve and Bucky's fight in TWS, and I will die on that hill) and not much else, which means aggressively ignoring any context, sometimes even ignoring previoulsy established character traits, which means actions are judged by who does them and with what intent (things seem to be ok, as long as you are Tony Stark and sad). Which, yes, anon, makes them bad guys.
One of the biggest gripes I have with the MCU is that half of the heroes are (unintentionally) written as bad guys (EG Steve, Tony, Clint, Peggy...) and the other half is still friends with them and/or never call them out in any meaningful way (Bucky, Sam, Rhodey, Nat....).
Tbf I haven't watched new Marvel content since 2021 so this might not be true for all the new characters. But the characters I liked from the first 3 phases? In my eyes, none of their canon versions are good people anymore.
The MCU really is a superhero universe without any moral compass.
Agreed Anon, you're right.
(I likewise haven't been able to watch since EG, outside of that one Spidey movie where Tony remade Insight yet again and gave control of it to a teenage boy. 🤦♀️ MCU's Spidey is just his mini-me; completely missing the point of that character. I mean look at Sony's Spider-verse by comparison!)
I've used this term before, but the MCU has a problem of protagonist-centered morality, whereby villain-defining deeds are put in the hands of 'good' (as in: decent person) characters, and/or good characters are tarnished by their unforgivable inaction, when inaction is the very definition of un-heroism in that universe:
ie. "when you can do the things that I can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you.” "If I see a situation pointed south, I can't ignore it." etc.
Taking Steve as a textbook example:
Even though Steve behaves accordingly in that scene (by calling Tony out for double-dealing re: the Accords) by the time Steve comes to say that 👆 he has already betrayed it in other ways.
Like: he never calls out Peggy for her mistreatment of him (in CATFA) and borderline rudeness to Bucky. It's like they wanted Steve to almost gloat about becoming superior to Bucky (who, mirroring that, they frame as dragging Steve on double dates he doesn't want to go on and not noticing he's being mistreated during them.)
In CATWS Steve never calls out Peggy (or Howard, or Phillips) for hiring Nazis and making one immortal (this is why they kept her 'visit' safely out of the way in Act 1).
Even though he does call out Fury and Nat for doing substantially less-heinous shit (as far as he knows at the time) and they are made to make it up to him before he will trust them again.
He never calls out Sam for being rude to Bucky in front of him, even though he will tell him off for being rude to a stranger (T'Challa).
(Again: a friend who will stop somebody actually killing you, but won't bother to stop somebody being rude to you? or bullying you? = Not much of a friend. Not much of a way to repay all the years Bucky did that for pre-serum Steve, is it writers? 🤷♀️)
Since they never bother to show how/when Steve finds out Bucky is a mind-controlled innocent, nobody therefore ever calls out Sam and Nat for being wrong about him either / for trying to dissuade Steve from helping him. And Sam continues to dehumanize him like a ticking timebomb, even after mind-control / his innocence has been established.
(Contrast: Clint, who tries to kill all of the Avengers while mind-controlled, and Nick Fury and Maria Hill, but is nevertheless welcomed into their ranks with open arms on the very same day. This without question, on the basis of nothing more than a Silent Nod of Approval from Natasha. And they're going to fight... the villain who still has the magic mind-control method, mind you. 🤪
Similarly stupid: to take Bucky to fight the same guy who just established that he can mind-control Bucky at the end of CACW? 🤦♀️ Bad enough to pick up the idiot ball, but then you don't even do anything with it? But I digress...)
Back to Steve: he never calls out Sharon for staying in SHIELDra while they were hunting him, Nat and Sam.
(Condoning both her and Peggy in a weirdly inccestuous way, since these idiots writers are so desperate for him to be demonstrably heterosexual, no matter how irrelevant to the plot. The corpse of Compulsory Female Love Interest No.1 hadn't even cooled before she pounced.)
Post-CW Steve never calls out Tony for tying to kill him and Bucky, for refusing to call when Thanos came, for refusing to help them undo the Snap initially, or for monologuing Hydra's rhetoric at him yet again. Just stood there like a plank while Tony hurled RDJ's improved abuse (was CEvans even allowed to improv? I bet it would've been cut if he had.)
And then, when he actually does get to do a thing that is unequivocally good (passing the shield onto Sam) ...they retcon that it was a bad, selfish thing, spread the blame off Steve onto (guess who?) Bucky (of course!) and then make him apologise (of course!)
...But don't hold Steve accountable for ditching Bucky to face the music on his own! (The apparently bad-now music.)
Wtaf, huh?
And that's not how accountability works! Holding white men responsible for specific actions, in-universe, doesn't mean anything if you haven't got the right white guy! Doesn't mean 'pick a random white guy.' Doesn't mean 'pick the only 'non' villain white guy in the cast.'
White character apologising to a black character for what white people generally do to black people = Fine. White guy apologising to a black guy for a specific trespass he did not commit against him? = Nonsense. Cheapens the whole point. If Steve has committed a microaggression it's his job to apologise for it, not Bucky's.
Picture Happy Hogan apologising to Rhodey for Tony gifting him the War Machine suit.
Perfectly valid for Tony to apologise: if gifting the suit had always been framed as a poison chalice for Rhodey (foreshadowing, folks. Basic writing skill.) But not if they had always been like 'hey isn't this War Machine suit great for Rhodey what a heartwarming gift wait no it isn't you bastard, Happy, shame on you for Tony doing that!' 🤔
Of course What If/post-EG skrull Steve has been nothing more than a cringe mirkin for Saint Peggy Sue. Back to being written like a poorly-written female character. 🙄
And all this is presaged by Steve waking up in the future, immediately being lied to by SHIELD, and... coming to work for them anyway? Even though he hates liars?
But he keeps working for them, even after they have lied to him again, and he has discovered it, in A1?
Steve's CATWS line about thinking he could throw himself back in and be happy, serving in SHIELD, makes no damn sense when you consider that he has known SHIELD ain't shit almost since the very moment he awoke in the future.
So actually, seems like canon Steve can ignore plenty! 😬
Much as I nevertheless like MCU Steve -- CEvans' casting and acting choices, his chemistry with his co-stars, his acting correctly (viz against the stupid script), etc. -- when you look at the Cap movie characters and realise just how much they've axed, warped, or insidiously inverted from the source material... it's hard not to see the MCU versions as a real hack job. 😥

Let's see
I like collecting things, like anything from rocks and shells to cards and stickers
I like taking photos of nature. When I see a nice flower or a bug I take like 10 pictures of it from different angles and it doesn't matter if I already took a picture of said flower or bug before. I WANT MORE!
I'm terrible picky eater. I say I don't like it even if I've never tried it before and I jusr refurse to eat it. Sometimes it's because of its texture rather than its taste. Some textures just make me want to vomit... and I hate this about myself but I just can't help it. I got better tho...

Sedona BACC Recap
I had several attempts to play a BACC and I always sucked. I tried with my own rule-set, that wasn't interesting enough. I tried with a set rule-set, the neighborhood got corrupted after only one season. Then I found Sedona on Mod the Sims and I was instantly in love! My love for aliens was just at the right place with this neighborhood! I couldn't wait playing it. To play it as a BACC was just a random idea and I think the setup is perfect. I only played one week for most households, I'm stuck with the Atkins household so far. I can't wait to see, where this will bring me! More behind the cut!
Starov Family:
Minerva (Pleasure – Own 3 Top ranked businesses; straight +Swinwear, black Hair -blonde Hair; OTH Games; Taurus (5/5/3/8/4) – Party Animal, Lucky, Absent Minded, Coward, Can't stand Art) is the only Sim I created. She's an alien and the founder of Sedona.
She lives with her two cats (god, I forgot their names... Something about constellations...)
She got herself a job as an politician and was visited by her neighbors Tarek, Phil and Aaron. She got particularly along with Aaron.
Minerva was promoted on her first day at work!
The cats successfully tried for kitten!
Momma cat had three kittens, two boys and a girl.
Minerva and Jared went on a second date.
The kittens grew up and I tried to figure out which one will go where.
Jared was over again and they had a great date! They woohood a lot, but no luck with risky woohoo.
Spurlock Family:
Jared (Popularity – Have 3 Grandchildren, straight +Underwear, Logical -unemployed; OTH Fitness; Gemini (1/7/8/5/4) – Animal Lover, Loves to Swim, Slob, Adventurous, Diva) is meant to be the mechanic of the group so he got into learning right away.
He also started to befriend Minerva and they got along pretty well!
Of course he also found himself pregnant.
Jareds motives were super low, so he invited Minerva over for a date. They have two bolts, the only two bolters in town. They shared their first kiss and developed a crush.
Jared gave birth to a boy, Eliot (Adventurous (Jared), Never Nude (PT) and a girl, Renata (Loves to Swim (Jared), Disciplined (PT).
He kind of struggled with his new responsibility for the twins and distracted himself with an other date with Minerva. They fell in Love and woohood for the first time.
Jared got the thinker cap and kept studying mechanics.
He invited Minerva over and they got engaged.
The twins grew up and they are looking interesting...
Lari Family:
Tarek (Fortune – Eat 75 Grilled Cheese Sandwiches; bisexual +Perfume, red Hair, -Fatness; OTH Tinkering; Pisces (5/3/8/3/8) – Ambitious, Handy, Athletic, Friendly, Brooding) was devastated by the abduction-thing
He also found himself pregnant.
He'll be the retailer of Sedona.
Tarek went into aspiration failure after passing out and having an accident on the toilette.
I invited Minerva over for a date to get his motives and aspiration high again, but the date was a total disaster and he went into aspiration failure again... It was the first time I ever got the shit bag date reward.
He started to make toys.
He opened a home business, to sell his toys. He's first customer was garden club member Jonathan, and he they had two bolts!
Tarek gave birth to a girl, Ghufran (Athletic (Tarek), Grumpy (PT)) and a boy, Ilhan (Handy (Tarek), Brave (PT).
Tarek has all his hands full with his shop and the twins. Jonathan became a steady customer.
His needs were always really low and it's hard to make him work on his toys.
The twins grew up and they look... kinds cute? Ghufran has normal eyes, what makes her look a bit creepy...
Tarek did his best in being a parent.
Collensworth Family:
Phil (Knowledge – Become World class Ballet Dancer; straight +gray Hair, Workaholic, -Logical; OTH Tinkering; Cancer (6/3/6/4/3) – Computer Whiz, Perfectionist, Loner, Disciplined, Good) quickly became friends with Jared
He found himself pregnant from his trip with the Aliens.
I plan for him to be the teacher of the town.
I wanted Phil to go on a date with Minerva too, but she refursed.
He kept on stargazing in the hope for an other abduction.
He picked up robotics.
Phil gave birth to two boys Norbert (Loner (Phil), Evil(PT)) and Samson (Good (Phil), Hates Outdoors (PT)).
The boys had their birthday, and Phil threw a little party for them. They grew up super cute so far and Norbert is my favorite!
Atkins Family:
Aaron (Romance – 3 Pets reach the Top of their Career; gay +Perfume, good at Mechanics -Charismatic; OTH Arts; Libra (2/8/2/6/7) – Commitment Issues, Artistic, Charismatic, Slob, Couch Potato) was devastated by the abduction-thing.
He also found himself pregnant.
I don't really know what his occupation in the future will be. For now he paints. Maybe he will be a farmer.
Aaron invited Tarek over for a date. They don't have bolts but their date was okay.
Aaron gave birth to two girls, Ira (Couch Potato (Aaron), Neurotic (PT)) and Felicia (Slob (Aaron), Mature (PT)).
