That was the oldest drawing I could find so I wanted to make a redraw of it :] (shhh ignore the fact that the pose isn't even the same)

Another redraw art I did during a stream months ago, this time going with redrawing a old art I did in the year AND day of when I joined DeviantArt at the age of 13. August 20th 2008. I was very young, had drawn so fucking much and side view faces were a PAIN to draw.

I rolled the wheel to see what year of the art it will land on and it landed in 2008. So I quickly grabbed one of my arts from that time and redraw this piece.

Theres alot of improvements, though I felt I could try redrawing it again but maybe its just me LOL but happy how this came out. Its nice to see the year I started to post my works online on DeviantArt for the first time at 13 years old, and now with 2024 of me redrawing this at 29 years old going on 30.

Yall im not ready to be 30, why cant I just be in my early 20's? LOL

also the watermark with my nickname- GOD. Mom would help me with that as she would make my lil watermark with photoimpactpro as I scan my old artworks through a scanner as the arts look crispy

So I wanted to do a direct comparasion between my current art and my old art. I chose this drawing because, the original is about a year old, so some improvements will definitely be visible, but it's definitely a fair point of comparasion. The obvious changes are the thickness of lineart and the more detailed shading, but I also noticed a change in the proportions of how I draw. You can see it especially well when I just finished the sketch.

The size of the head is smaller, but it's also taller instead of wider and the body is bigger in comparasion to the head. Basically the way I draw characters has changed to be slightly more mature-looking, because Makoto does look a little bit more his age now in my style. I'm very happy with this development, because I somewhat disliked how childish characters looked in my style, because that wasn't what I was intending (completely fine if others prefer that for their artstyle, but it's just not what I'm trying to achieve), so I'm glad that my artstyle has gotten closer to what I'm trying to make it.

Honestly I've never been happier with my own art before, because I feel like I found a nice balance between a cute, exaggerated style and my characters still looking their age. The change was gradual, so I didn't notice the change until I did this redraw. The direct comparasion really makes me appreciate how far I've gotten.

Ok, I don’t know about y’all but I never put dates on my draws since I can roughly estimate what year based on the art style. So here are two redraws…

The one above is a style I remember using in 2015-2016. You can’t see it in the old style since Frisk’s hands were behind, but I use to draw hands like this ♦️, literally a full rhombus diamond 💀

This art style you can still find in the early days of my blog around 2017-2019. It was also the style that I was most proud of and confident enough to start sharing online.

I still have A LOT of old Frans art in A LOT of different (experimenting) art styles, so I’m glad to have come a long long way. So here’s to future improvement ☺️💜
