this is basically a deleted scene from a wip that's still happening, which is probably negative points in the liminal space column, but it kind of came about from a question i've got about demon feeding habits...??

basically, i'm wondering if demons can feed off feelings that they entirely manufacture, or if there's some sort of nutritional difference between those and feelings that humans have independently. if a demon manipulates a human to feel happy, for instance, and then feeds off of that feeling of happiness, will it be as nutritious/taste as good as if that human had felt that feeling all on their own?

or, in short: vega and warden have breakfast in bed. it's horribly, and i do mean horribly, domestic 🥰🥰

redacted demon horn hcs i came up with so i dont have to change my demon designs 💕

within every demon race there are horn variations so they dont all end up having same horn syndrome (like same face syndrome in art but with horns 👍)

empathy — most common variation are the ram horns, most rare are the inverse ram horns. empathy daemon's horns will always be small and will always be in the capridae family

sadism — most common variation are the gazelle horns, least common are the curved gazelle horns. sadism demon's horn will always be large and tall

shock — most common variation are the gemsbok horns, least common variation are the four-horned antelope horns. shock demon's horns will always be pointed straight up, as if in "shock"

inchoate — inchoates have multiple horn variations, so it is hard to pinpoint the rarity of each variant. the most common come down to the indian bison horns, bharal horns, and a set of "classic" demon horns with two smaller horns protruding from the base

fear — most common variation are the greater kudu horns, most rare the the blackbuck horns. sizes always vary, and horns will always be swirled in some way, with the exception of the unicorn horn varient

misery — most common variation are the tibetan argali horns, most rare are the bighorn sheep horns. misery demons' horns will always fall in the capridae family

elation — most common variation are the ibex horns, most rare are the red hartebeest horns. sizes can vary, but usually are medium

Backstory ~

Denebola never really liked humans empowered or not and she didn't understand how other daemons could grow to live with them.

however, at a more mature age, she was given a charge. it was uncommon however she was unaware it was requested by her steward.

The charge was a little girl named Drianne, she was gravely sick and wasn't expected to live past the age of 10.

Denebola would feed on her feelings of misery and sadness. while providing her with feeling of joy and serenity.

little did Denebola know the girl could see her. She found this out at the girl's 7th birthday. Drianne ran over and gave her a hug thanking her for the happy emotions and making her feel better in her sad situation.

and as she watched Drianne grow her distaste for humans changed.

By Driannes 14th she could no longer see Denebola; and because of that Denebola decided she was no longer needed. however, Drianne had one more gift for Denebola.

the nickname Dria.

Denebola was surprised by the act, and well that act changed her view of humans. and with that, she went to work at the department. she wanted to help kids like Drianne.

of course, when she went to work there she used the name Dria instead of her name given to her. She was proud to be a Starchild yes.. But Dria meant more.

During the inversion she almost unraveled, she offered to work security, and when the ward closed. it was too many emotions and learning of the later death of her charge did not help. However, she pulled herself together and helped guide others underground and heal what was needed.

Drianne lived to the age of 85 years old before passing away. when she passed she was surrounded by family and friends. Dria was there as well. and that is what kickstarted her attempt to work at the department.

8: I honestly fuck with the vast majority of non-canon couples (it's kind of my brand at this point) so this was tough. But a few that I've stumbled upon and just kind of went "Eh....? /neu" are Greg (Keaton)/Gabe, Xavier/Huxley (This one could change if pitched well but otherwise not really for me), and maybe Blake/Cutie? I mused it briefly but didn't get far because Blake's pretty restrictive for rarepair purposes /lh

17: Honestly? *Honestly?* I think it would be real fun to bring Hudson back around, especially following Inversion (even though it's been years at this point). Marcus or Kody would be interesting for different reasons too. (COMING BACK TO THIS: ALSO FRED AND BRIGHT *DUH* /lh)

18: Okay if I *have* to pick someone to die, I think I would go with William as a knee jerk answer. I love what fuckery he has going on post-Summit, but also I think we could really fuck up Sam and Vincent for a spell or two.

24: I confess that I haven't had the mental bandwidth nor time for properly devour the D(a)emon 101 vid so perhaps I'd change my answer, but out of the basic/standard types, I think I'd be an Inchoate or Serenity Demon? (Something something relating heavily to Freelancer/Avior and Cam/Freelancer) (Yes, I put FL twice for a reason /lh)

29: I don't think I'm allowed to say Inversion as my Favorite Anthology (but like... it would technically be the answer— /lh) but besides that, I'd have to say the Gamebois/Gaming playlist? 33: Since this is my 2nd time getting this question, I figured I'd try another pass at a concept. So! I'd *love* to pair a D(a)emon and Vampire together. Immortal beings who are immortal in a different way. Specifically a Sadism Demon Listener I think? With a Vampire Speaker. They meet while stuck at DUMP for one reason or another at the same time, a true chance meeting. Their 2nd meeting comes after the vampire is there handling business for their clan and the demon finally spots them after returning to DUMP every night in hopes of seeing them again. Leaning towards a romance of some kind for these two. So yeah. /pos

35: I explained how Freelancer Season 1/Gavin is technically what got me into Redacted already. So instead, if I were to shine a light on a video that really showed me I was really getting attached to the Redactedverse at large: Either A) Huxley's Aftershock video. It was one of the first on the channel to ever make me cry. There's something about him realizing Xavier's parents won't see him again that just ruined me that first time. // Or B) David's playlist, specifically the one where he talks about Gabe to Angel the first time. It wasn't the first time I listened to it that got me, but the second.
