I’m Srry if this is a hot take but.
I need there to be more empowered listeners and I’m tired of being unempowered…
I also need there to be another demon listener but that’s not really a hot take I think???
Freelancer (or inchoate) type listeners do NOT COUNT, there’s already like 4 of those bitches/Hj

What's one thing you want me to know about "captive audience?" <3
romi's talking about this game (asks still open!)
hmm.... if i had to pick just one thing? 👀👀
this is basically a deleted scene from a wip that's still happening, which is probably negative points in the liminal space column, but it kind of came about from a question i've got about demon feeding habits...??
basically, i'm wondering if demons can feed off feelings that they entirely manufacture, or if there's some sort of nutritional difference between those and feelings that humans have independently. if a demon manipulates a human to feel happy, for instance, and then feeds off of that feeling of happiness, will it be as nutritious/taste as good as if that human had felt that feeling all on their own?
or, in short: vega and warden have breakfast in bed. it's horribly, and i do mean horribly, domestic 🥰🥰

redacted demon horn hcs i came up with so i dont have to change my demon designs 💕
within every demon race there are horn variations so they dont all end up having same horn syndrome (like same face syndrome in art but with horns 👍)
empathy — most common variation are the ram horns, most rare are the inverse ram horns. empathy daemon's horns will always be small and will always be in the capridae family
sadism — most common variation are the gazelle horns, least common are the curved gazelle horns. sadism demon's horn will always be large and tall
shock — most common variation are the gemsbok horns, least common variation are the four-horned antelope horns. shock demon's horns will always be pointed straight up, as if in "shock"
inchoate — inchoates have multiple horn variations, so it is hard to pinpoint the rarity of each variant. the most common come down to the indian bison horns, bharal horns, and a set of "classic" demon horns with two smaller horns protruding from the base
fear — most common variation are the greater kudu horns, most rare the the blackbuck horns. sizes always vary, and horns will always be swirled in some way, with the exception of the unicorn horn varient
misery — most common variation are the tibetan argali horns, most rare are the bighorn sheep horns. misery demons' horns will always fall in the capridae family
elation — most common variation are the ibex horns, most rare are the red hartebeest horns. sizes can vary, but usually are medium
serenity — most common variation are horns that belong to an animal that are most likely related to bharals, most rare are the fallow antlers. serenity daemons, interestingly, have horn variations that belong to two separate families: caprinae and cervidae. while the cervidae antlers have more variation, the mysterious bharal-like horn variant is still the most common. serenity daemons are also the only daemon race outside of empathy daemons to have digigrade legs
strife — most common variant are the eland horns, most rare are the addax horns (which sometimes results in a strife demon being mistaken for a sadism or fear demon). a more uncommon yet well-known variation is the triple horn set
desire — similarly to inchoate demons, desire demons have a multitude of horn variations, the most common being the markhor horns and "classic" demon horns paired with a small set of ram horns

What is a Soulmate? (Two Stars, Millions of Miles Apart, Beside Each Other)
Part of the Redacted ValenSwap run by @ode2youu / @shadowofyouu.
Written for @deezbignutz
The night is dark, the air is cold, the park grass crunches beneath slow shuffling feet. And two stars find themselves amongst that endless dark, so infinitely far away, but so close still. They changed from where they looked to find an angle that let them group together, almost into one star in the sky. They worked for it, lived for it, died for it.Is that not what a soulmate may well be? For creatures who live forever, and yet change just as much.
Soft and Sweet, Mutual Pining, Conversations, Discussions of Soulmates, Subversion of Soulmates, Can Be Read as Queerplatonic or Romantic, Ambiguous Ending, Warden Being Emotionally Unavaliable, They/Them Pronouns for Warden, Soft Vega.
2,623 Words. Read on Ao3 here.
“There you are, Inchoate. I was looking for you.”
Warden didn’t so much as flinch at the familiar voice in their mind, tail slowly brushing through the grass they lay in, staring off into the dark expanse above. Though the winter brought with it a chill, precipitation had yet to fall, leaving the ground comfortable enough to lay in. Damp from dew, but nothing more. The earth crumbled between slow fingers as they nipped at it, plucking blades of dull brown grass, wilting in the cold and dry. Above the trees were nothing but darkened silhouettes, weaving together into the sky in cracking formations, only punctuated by soft warm rays from passing headlights in the distance. The sky, as dark as it was, seemed bright in comparison, stars shining and clouds passing slowly. A redder night it was, the clouds almost pink compared to that cold blue dark. Fog had yet to roll in, but its portent had shown, surrounding scenery fading as minutes passed  into a blur of dark even daemonic eyes could not distinguish.
Inchoate, are you well?”
And Vega continued to stand nearby, his gentle voice flowing into their mind. Warm. Caring. Concerned. He could not hide his emotions as well as he once had. Or maybe it was simply that he didn’t bother, letting his hardened heart show cracks, and a softer interior. His affection, however slight, came across so clearly. And it only brought another soreness into Warden’s heart.
They didn’t want the feeling to end.
It had been a hard few months, made easier by Vega’s gentle guiding hands. His voice echoing softly inside their head: rambling, monologuing, telling tales under these same stars. They seemed duller now, in the silence.
“Warden. ” Vega stepped closer, coming into Warden’s view, brows slightly knitted with concern. He was little more than a silhouette, but the stars dappling his skin glimmered, framing burning red eyes filled with such softness. The didn’t look directly, but they could feel it, as a similar gentle gaze bloomed on their face, as that nickname echoed in their mind.
He sat down beside them, frozen grass blades crunching under his weight, in tune with the soft jingle of his jewellery, and his cold puffs of breath. He stared down a moment more, a hand reaching Warden’s temple, moving some stray hairs away from their face, as he wrapped his tail gently around their head.
“Warden. You seem to like it when I call you that.”
“I—”
“You can deny it but I won’t believe you.”
“No it— it’s just familiar. But you don’t have to. I’m no Warden to you.”
“But you like it? Yes?”
“... Yes”
“Then that is what I will call you. Unless Darling will suffice? ” Warden looked away from the demon beside them as far as their sockets allowed, narrowing their eyes in mock upset. He just smiled down playfully, hints of sharp white teeth peaking through the shadows. They could almost hear it in how he breathed.
“Tease.”
Vega let out a chuckle at their words, closing his eyes for a moment, but he could not bear long not looking at Warden. His Warden. The thought almost seemed to echo between the pair, though it was shared not. But it was felt, in that space between. The air that hung low and silent around them, daring not to interrupt their gentle moment.
“What brought you out so far into the park, Warden? And so late too.”
“Just… thinking. It’s easier to do when it’s dark, and no one else is around.”
“I see… I can understand the appeal. The world is quiet, and the stars are… familiar. They don’t look how I remember, but still feel like home, do they not?”
“I guess.”
“You don’t have to agree if you don’t feel the same. From what you’ve told, your home is here, on Elegy. Aria may not be as much a home to you…”
“No, it is. It's just…” Warden paused, a shaky breath escaping them, fading into a soft fog in front of their face, carried off by the breeze. Once again they felt it: Vega’s worry. Oh so worried was he. “It — ”
“Doesn’t feel the same.” He interrupted, finishing the thought.
“ Yes. How did you—”
“Your feelings are guarded, but the more I encounter your presence,  the easier they are to discern. I am sure you learned it from me, and you learned it well. You're harder to read than most any I’ve seen  in recent memory. But for all I have lost, your heart and its resonance seems ingrained somewhere within me still.”
“You should get into poetry.” Warden snickered. Vega did not.
“I appreciate the attempt at levity, but I feel you’re pushing away from yourself.”
“Can’t I? I — I don’t want to talk about myself.”
“I know. You’ve told me before, you’re more used to me doing the talking. And while I like the sound of my own voice, I’d like to hear more of yours, if you’d allow me that honour.”
“You’re—” Warden looked away from the grand constellation above, directly at Vega. And for a moment, their thoughts went silent. His affectionate glances didn’t go unnoticed, but being confronted with those loving eyes, looking directly into theirs, was another level of vulnerability. And he didn’t look away.
As didn’t they. Because they loved him.
Love was a strong word. But what other word was there for this? For this silent softness, that stilled the very earth. For the gentle hand raking through their hair, pulling away the worries. For the shared breaths that made the world fade. There was no Sovereigns. There was no Closeknit. There was no Hush, and no world to save. No need to die, to mourn, to rebuild. No line between who they once were, were now, and would be. There was no distinction between the Vega plucked and woven from the stars, the prisoner who’d saved them, gave his life for them, and sat beside them now. There was no contradiction between Warden the ‘feeder’, and the runaway who nearly died, and the demon in denial trusting a liar, the witness to their world collapsing, and the hardened spirit that remained.
There was nothing but Vega, and Warden. Two stars in an infinite void. Millenia apart, yet from their view, beside each other all the same.
“You’re thinking quite hard, aren’t you, Warden? May I inquire as to what?”
“It… I don’t think I want to talk about it right now.”
“Alright. I respect that. But you’ll tell me some day, won’t you? I don’t mean to push a hard subject but it seems there were things you didn’t say once, and I wouldn’t want you to feel that way again. I know the feeling. It’s not pleasant.” Warden nodded, a tickle running up their spine as Vega’s gentle hand ran along their scalp, sharp claws sliding against their hair.
They stayed a moment, drinking in his presence, before again starting to speak. “I guess I could tell you, if you must know.”
“You don’t have to share now if—”
“You’re right. We don’t have forever to wait. But now we have the time, and at least a start is something I can give.”
“Then by all means, go ahead.” He continued his gentle motions, feeling Warden’s emotions still, pulling out as much contentment as his cruel hands could muster.
“I’ve just been thinking about… this. Us. Whatever this— whatever WE may be. I don’t know the words for it. I never have as long as I’ve known you. You called me Darling, but you kept a distance. You lied and told me the truth I hated to hear in equal measure for so long. You put me before your sacred mission that you had sacrificed so much for, and hurt so many to reach, and yet that rift between us remained still. But— I trusted you, and even still you always felt so safe. Even if you weren’t obvious with your intentions. Even when you lied to me, and I knew you were lying, as much as I chose not to believe. Even when you kept me at arms length, you had earned my trust. I’d not felt that way with anyone before, since my Steward anyway.”
Warden looked away from Vega, unable to keep his eyes, or his visage in their view at all. It felt too vulnerable. Maybe he’d interrupt and spare them, but he said nothing. They had to fill the silence. His curiosity that leaked off him demanded it.
“You and I aren’t aligned on many things. We never were. As someone I once knew said, ‘Your place in the sky is not close to mine, no matter how connected the stars may seem. No matter how close, they are still millions of miles apart.’ But you grew on me. I abandoned everything for you. And I can’t blame you for what you did, especially since you saved me, and you came back, and all that. But— I— how do I even put this?”
“May I take a guess?”
“Please do.” Warden sighed out, almost too enthusiastic.
“Not used to speaking so much, are you?” He giggled. “That’s alright. But if I had to guess, maybe you feel like, just based on what’s coming off of you, that you’re conflicted. You said yourself several times that you and I were ‘confusing’ and ‘complicated’. You want to trust me knowing what you do, even against what may be your better judgement. But it’s like—”
“Like it was destined.”
“Not where I expected that to go. Could you elaborate?”
“I— I don’t know where that came from. Sorry.” Vega didn’t respond, leaving Warden again at the whims of his silence. And for all his softness, he was good at putting on the pressure to keep them talking. “I just— I never believed in fate before. Still don’t, really. I was raised on a rational mindset. Things are only ‘destined’ in so far that past circumstances cause future events. The past is part of the present because past actions inform the present, and in the same way the present is part of the future. But something about this. About us. how we met under such unfavourable circumstances, and somehow you got me to stay against all judgement, and because you knew I wanted to— and how for all our differences we’re doing something so grand, and I choose to keep staying—”
“That’s exactly it, isn’t it?”
“What?”
“You chose to stay. You choose to keep staying. You chose this.”
“I guess.”
Vega paused a moment, a thought sparking in his eyes. Warden felt it before his voice came, but his words only confounded. “Do people nowadays still believe in the Androgynous?”
“What? Like, androgynous in dress, or”
“No, no. The idea of the proto-human, with two heads, four arms, four legs and so on, split in two to reduce their strength and power, and leave them seeking their ‘other half’ as it were.”
“So like soulmates?”
“Is that what they’re called now?” Vega cocked his head.
“Sort of. Soulmate is more general, but the same concept. That two people are bound to be together by fate, whether because they are two halves of a whole, or bound by a string, or some other idea.”
“I see. Well, good that I won’t have to explain too in depth. I assume that you don’t believe in these either?”
“No.” Warden shook their head, looking back up at Vega in mild confusion. “Do you?”
“Well… I don’t believe they are fated from birth or some prototypical form in creation. But there have always been people who just seem to click. And demons as well, for their part. Friends, lovers, family. Sometimes even interspecies collectives like pets and their handlers, or demons and one particular human they grow terribly fond of, for feeding, or otherwise.”
Warden could see where this was going, but it didn’t feel right to admit. Just as before, when Vega had but finished his own letter, stating how clear and simple it was. He  was right. But it didn’t feel it. And they could say nothing. He continued without their approval, for he didn’t need it. Nor would he want it.
“Those relationships may feel everlasting, and in some cases they may well be. As everlasting as a mortal lifespan allows, at least. Or as long as people remain consistent, or change consistently with one another. But it is not about what the world allows, or what is fated. It is what is worked for. And I dare say, I take some insult to knowing you attribute what appeared to have been some well placed manipulation to fate.” Vega smirked, and Warden couldn’t help but smile back. His jokes held such a special place in their heart. “I worked hard to get you on my side, and you seem to have worked hard not just to change yourself for this mission we embarked on however many months past. But you changed me. The pieces of me you reshaped remain visible through the empty spaces left behind, that I know I never would have myself crafted. And in you I see the same. Fragments that are out of place for a demon of this time.”
“You were good at what you did.”
“Why thank you.”
“I hate that you’re making sense.”
“Well your feelings may complicate the matter, but it seems obvious from where I stand. Maybe this term you used: ‘soulmate’, is a bit too strong to apply. But would it not be alright to admit we have made something of— how did you put it? ‘This. Us. Whatever we may be’— that is akin to it? You have changed from how you describe you once were, as have I, and we now fit better than the absurd pairing we once were. Is that so horrible?”
“It’s not. You just make it sound too—”
“Romantic?”
“Poetic, but that’s also true.”
Vega chuckled again, his hand finally resting in the dirt, though still tangled loosely in Warden’s hair. His Warden’s hair. “You must forgive me. I just like the sound of my own voice, and sometimes that sweet emotion coming off of you when I speak in such a way is… amusing. Not sustaining but I must admit the flavour isn’t bad.”
“You’re an ass.”
“You like that about me.”
“I do…”
They sat in silence for a moment as fog began to settle around them, a cool blanket blotting out the stars. But what need was there for stars for beings made up of them, their skin covered in them. Patterns and constellations, some from times long past, and some still fitting within a modern sky.
“I’d hope we can continue to grow together once this is over. Once the circumstances that drew us together fall into place. Even if the Meridian were to fall, we would remain, as painful as our existence may once again be. We are lucky. We live forever, lest an outside force break us. But we do not remain unchanged. I just hope that change allows ‘this’ to remain.”
“Vega… that almost sounds like a confession.”
“I know.”
“... Is it?”
“Would you like it to be?”
“I— I don’t think I’m ready for that conversation yet.”
“Then it isn’t. Just me speaking my mind. You can ignore it if you would like.”
“... I hope so too.” Vega’s head fell slightly, as he looked back at his Darling.
“Well then we’ll have to work for it, won’t we?”
“We will.”
-----------------
“You seem cold. I can rift us back to where you’re staying if you’d like.”
“I’d like to walk. It’s safer.”
“Very well.”

Finally watching Redacted 101; Demons and Daemons
Here’s my input and notes;
THE SOVEREIGNS NOT GIVING A FUCK ABOUT THE DAEMONS AND DEMONS? WHAT. “Pets” and then just LEAVING?
Sovereigns Getting Salty™
Overthrowing gods? My favorite trope FOR REAL
So like “Starchild” is a sort of degrading name for some Demons? Hm interestinggg
Sadism, Inchoate, Desire, Empathy, Serenity, Strife, Misery, Fear, Shock, & Elation (feeds by a spectrum)
Thinking abt Fear demons with anxiety LMAO
Me and Erik speak alike and I just wanna say 🗣️🔊
“Sadism demons don’t have to be cruel—Vega often is.” GIGGLING
First Daemon, Polaris; Empathy Daemon
All empathy Daemons are childlike. GOTCHU. (I think that’s what he meant?)
De’Deridahn is like. It makes a lot of sense why he wanted his ‘creations’ to directly serve him. (Also i associated him with green but sense the new balance video im seeing ORANGE??)
Okay I actually had to take my meds in the middle of this bc I didn’t understand shit
Demons having no concept of death omfg IM GONNA CRY. :(
“And saw what morality—Mortality.”
EXPENDING MAGIC KILLS WOOO (cries)
Off topic but my cat biting the shit out of my finger as Erik is talking about vampires
THE ELLISION WELLL (ok i spelt it wrong)
Attendance at the well 👀 WAIT THEY ARENT JUST FORMED WITH A STEWARD?? THEYRE LIKE. MATCH-MAKED 👀
So there’s a ratio of D(a)emons to humans (checks and balances wtf Erik /pos)
So the Meridian SPLITS Elegy and Aria. Holy shit? The visuals in my brain rn. pearlescent river (Meridian) go brr
This might have to be two posts
So in Aria…there’s a whole new form. 👀 I’ve actually have headcanons about this ‼️
THERES NO CLOTHES IN ARIA. That’s lowkey pretty cool? I mean like it’s funny asf
Stewards.. can steward more than one. Hrmmm
Ah shit we’re talking demon politics
Daemons are biologically immortal though can die
THERES STILL MORE?? 13 MORE MINUTES? Hell.
Yeah I’m cutting this short specifically bc like three people are gonna see this and it’s not worth it
